5 stars. The coffee, the service and the FOOD! “The Reuben” A 10/10 bagel recommended to me by the very hospitable service oriented staff at Vanilla Tree. The matrimony of flavours that come together after just the first bite is enough to come back for more! Absolutely love the fresh new decal of the shop. A bright yellow surge of refreshment to lighten up a bustling street of local businesses. Absolutely love to see an independent establishment serve such amazing flavours. Much better food and service than the larger conglomerates!

Went for an early breakfast with a friend. We both had the salmon and egg bagel which was delicious! I had a vegan chocolate milkshake with an added shot of coffee which was also nice and refreshing. My friend said her latte was nice too. Staff all friendly and polite, wish I was local to go more often! They have vegan options too and baked treats at counter.

The friendliest staff and some of the nicest food! Popped in here after starting my new job close by and the food was incredible. Had a salmon and cream cheese bagel that was freshly baked in store. To top it off, had a slice of their homemade Victoria sponge which was equally as good. The service was fantastic and I can't wait to bring my other half here. Very unique spot for lunch. Definitely pop down.

Lovely staff everyone is super friendly and welcoming. The coffee is amazing and locally roasted. Most of the ingredients are either prepared in house or are sorced locally and the bagles are fresh everyday. The food here is truly delightful and each unique dish they offer will not disappoint. Cant say enough good things really definitely a must visit when your around the town centre.

Great cafe! Coffee is fantastic, bagels are superb and cake is almost unreasonably good! Oh and the milkshakes are lush too! Decent amount of space but can get busy...as it's so good. Staff are always very friendly as well which really rounds the whole place off nicely!

Very chilled atmosphere. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We went on a Saturday and didn't realise it closes at 3pm. Me and my friend were catching up and the time just flew by, it was gone pass 3pm and coming to 4pm but the staff were so nice that they didn't even come and tell us about their closing time. We just sat their catching up! Highly recommended.

Wow. Just wow. The Salt Beef Bagel was simply awesome, in a comfy and relaxing location. I can see what some previous reviewers mean about one sour faced member of Staff, but she was efficient; and the others were just lovely so she had no real effect on the visit. We will definitely be back again and again as there was so much on the Menu that looked so good. Very highly recommended.

A really nice little coffee shop. A lovely selection of cakes and pastries made with natural ingredients and gluten free options. I wish they had more sandwich options with softer bread. They do some excellent bagels and a great shop nonetheless.

This place left me with a sour taste. I really wanted to like it and give it a great review. The price is the main culprit. It's way too expensive for what you actually get. The selection of cakes and desserts is good but also expensive. Wish they had a selection of bread, savoury pastry and croissants like a bakery should. The place itself is nicely decorated. The service was friendly and fast. If you fancy trying a new coffee house, this is definitely the place.

A real favourite of ours when we visit Bedford Centre. Everything is just great about this place! It does get busy for such a small venue. However, take that bagel/coffee for a walk along the embankment if you want.

Very nice and unique place. If you don't like big chain places you will love it, as much as I do. Nice service, very good coffee and food, great selection of cakes. Served with fancy tea pots and cups. Love the atmosphere there. Good for meeting up with friends or just to sit there and read the book. Just go and see for yourself.

Good if you like something a bit different. They do bagels and sourdough sandwiches in a variety if unusual flavours. I'm a bit fussy so only thing I can eat is ham and cheese but great if you're adventurous. Great cakes but a bit pricey

Amazing cafe so close to the town centre, I spent the whole day working there today. Everything was splendid from the scrambled egg bacon bagel in the morning followed by a lemon drizzle cake to the salted beef, mustard mayo and pickle bagel in the afternoon followed by what has to be described as possibly the best Victoria sponge cake in Bedford! As always staff and customer service extremely friendly and fast. Being a freelance graphic designer it’s also a highly creative place to work and unwind.

I Love this place BUT I just wish that they had a better customer service! The owner is always smiling and welcoming but his wife or I suppose his staff is always moody! I go to VT often and since they have opened, this woman never smiles and always makes me feel uncomfortable from taking order all the way to the point of leaving the place. I feel as though she doesn't want to be there but she has been forced to work there! I mean is she being forced?

I liked the unique and pretty decor. However, I have been there 3 times and every time the customer service was JUST OK. For example: staff did not greet, welcomed or smiled when serving; last time I've been, the girl-server appeared as if she didn't want to be there, very distant and cold in manner. I asked if they do cold drinks, since there were none on their menu board and instead of her replying to me she just pointed at a shelf with drinks behind her. After ordering I wasn't even asked where abouts I was going to sit when they bring the order; hence why, you could see other servers looking around confused and bringing people's drinks in the wrong area, not being able to find them, asking multiple tables if they ordered the drinks he was carrying etc. Lastly, when our server brought the drinks she spilled some of them on her way and didn't even offer to clean up or didn't even offer a tissue for us to do it and left quickly. The customer service will need improving quite a lot for me and my friends to come back again.

Good, strong hot coffee in a pleasant cafe. Service is efficient and friendly. The location is on the edge of the town centre. This means it's a bit of a hike to get there while in town. The quality of the coffee makes the extra distance walked worthwhile.

Great coffe and props for homemade bagels and interior, but the 30p charge extra for plant based milk for coffee is pretty disappointing :( a place that boasts about sustainability and then sells beef and charges extra for people not wanting to participate in the dairy industry for environmental and ethical reasons is a no for me.

(Translated) the satisfaction of the senses passing through Bedford for three days we had breakfast at the Vanillatree, we tried bagels with eggs, French toast with bacon and pecans with maple syrup ..... all delicious and mouth-watering . The place is farm / industrial, very nice and the staff was super nice, one of the guys was very nice greeting us in Italian and was always smiling and in a good mood. Very recommended place, when we return to Bedford it will certainly be here that we will return to have breakfast (Original) la soddisfazione dei sensi di passaggio a Bedford per tre giorni abbiamo fatto colazione al Vanillatree, abbiamo provato i bagel con le uova, i French toast con bacon e noci pecan con sciroppo d'acero..... tutto buonissimo e da far venire l'acquolina in bocca. Il locale è in stile farm/industrial, molto carino ed il personale è stato super gentile, uno dei ragazzi è stato molto simpatico salutandoci in italiano ed era sempre sorridente e di buon umore. Posto molto raccomandato, quando torneremo a Bedford sarà sicuramente qui che torneremo a fare colazione
