Reviews of Pause Cat Café
A. K.
Lovely little cat cafe over 2 floors in the centre of Bournemouth.
We had 2 drinks and 2 snacks for £11 and an hour with the cats.
11 is probably not recommended as the cats have recently been fed so many are having their brunch nap. It was still nice to see them and have some pets
S. C.
I recently lost my cat to cancer, we came here to donate and share some cat Love and couldn't of been happier to be around all the cats, and the wonderful staff!
Areas that need improvements,
It is busier than other cat cafes!
Parking is awful!
Not enough cake!
Coffee tastes cheap!
O. P.
Had a lovely time there, the staff is very nice and so dedicated (to their customers as much as their cats!). I had a 3 berries smoothie which was very onctuous and flavoursome. Plus, Michelle found our table was the best for a perfect nap.

The best experience with friendly staff and charming kitties, tasty food and fun drinks. Very very clean despite so many kitties with no odd smells! Absolutely beautiful place! Cute indoor exterior with lots of space for the cats! Even up high! The love and protection for these rescue cats are very clearly seen!
I'm so glad for the entry fee that I KNOW goes TO the cats to help with vet fees and food etc! Anyone disagreeing with that needs to re-evaluate themselves! This is a purfect place to visit during rain, sun or snow ! And I can't wait to take more of my friends in future ! Thank you pause 🥰
C. D.
I was given a voucher for Pause which was for a meal, drink and pud as a present. They send you a welcome video which tells you about the cafe and what to expect when you get there. There's also a video showing you the tables, which are numbered,so you can choose where you would like to sit.We had booked a table but were stuck in traffic so phoned to see if we could have a later booking. Luckily we were able to. There were only a few parking spaces outside and we were able to get one. They do recommend a car park which isn't too far away on the video. The food is served in boxes so you can put the lid on quickly if needs be!!! The food was quite basic and the menu wasn't extensive but the idea is to see the cats, which we enjoyed very much. We did have to put our lids on a few times too!!!It's a very well thought out environment for the cats.

Amazing place, tasty food ( the tomato soup was so good) and drinks ! The cats are lovely, the place is clean and the stuff members are super friendly ❤️ Would recommend 100%

Brilliant place for all cat lovers, staff are caring and knowledgeable about all their cats and always have their best interests at heart. Customers are well looked after too in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with the resident cats doing the rounds saying hello to everybody. I would highly recommend Pause Cat Cafe to any cat lover, go and enjoy a lovely cuppa in a warm and friendly place surrounded by lots of furry friends.

This place was incredible. The photos speak for themselves. My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time, will be visiting again and again!
Thank you so much for a great afternoon.
N. D.
They are all lovely there.... The cats are all looked after and the food and drink was really nice. I was visiting Bournemouth for a weekend break and was walking past and had to pop in never been into a cat cafe before. Lovely place x
M. L. C.
Lovely place for a drink and some company! The cats are lovely, friendly, and careful with Michelle (white), she'll try to get into your food! Good menu as well and lovely stuff.

A gorgeous place to visit with lovely staff and even lovelier cats. Completely accessible to disabled customers and an inclusive, kind, loving atmosphere. The staff all care for the cats so much and their comfort comes first. The vegan food and drinks are all scrumptious. I have visited this café three times now and it has become a favourite spot.
V. N.
What a lovely cat cafe! I have never been to one and it struck me when I arrived to Bournemouth. Luckily on my way back to the station I manage to pop in without booking but they are recommending people to book as they get quite busy and they have more limited spaces now.
The cats are just lovely! I was sitting next to Clifford - the alpha male of the group but they have 12 beautiful kitties there.i mean they literally built an amazing cat heaven for them! Amazing circuit on the walls and above our heads and all the toys and everything, you can see how amazing life these babies have! Can we swap places please? 😍 definitely worth a pop in and support then 😊

Food was really lovely and the staff were helpful. The cats were all very chilled out and were not fussed about being petted.
G. C.
I took my 7 year old son and it was just lovely. He thoroughly enjoyed it, the ladies who work there are lovely and we're answering his many questions. The cats are all so cute!
W. G.
Absolutely love this place. They have the most gorgeous kitties. The staff are brilliant and friendly. Please come support them if you can, you won't regret it. Have a lovely drink and snack and play with the cats of Pause they all have their own individual personalities. Xxx love it....
D. C.
This is an interesting place, you need to pay a £5 cover per person. So overall it is expensive to visit just for a drink. The coffee and other drinks were good but the food didn't taste great. So you need to understand that you come here to see the cats and the food is a side thing if you want it.
M. G.
There is really cute, and really clean. I m allergic but I had a great experience there. You don't need to be afraid. The food is good too. Everyone is really nice
J.
Really good service by a group of generous ladies. Food was lovely and so were the drinks (can reccomend the Strawberry milkshake).
The cat here were lovely to but a bit shy at first and were intrigued by my food
K. T.
Lovely friendly staff. The cats are beautiful and well cared for.
C. M.
Really nice experience, the staff at the cafe are doing an amazing job!! Requires booking in advance.
T.
super cute cats! most were asleep tho me and the person i came with didnt mind. food was delicious, cats were overall friendly! favorite was michelle.
W.
Gorgeous and well kept kitties litter the café while the friendly staff attend to both customers and cats alike. Didn't partake in any food but did have a fresh milkshake and a soft drink. The café, staff and cats were incredible. The milkshake was mediocre. Would definitely recommend!!
D.
If you are a cat lover or cat parent this is the best place to be.
The staff is very friendly helpful and devoted to their mission.
The place is very peaceful and harmonious.
You can pet the lovely cats and enjoy your coffee and your snacks.
Highly recommended.
Definitely coming back!!

Known about this place for quite a while and so decided to visit with a friend who's a huge cat lover and see what it was like for myself.
Most of the staff and volunteers are very friendly.
We were seated downstairs which was very cozy and the atmosphere overall was lovely. Very easy to relax and just sit back and enjoy the calming music and cats sleeping and just playing about. We didn't see a huge amount of cats, a majority of them were on the ground floor but we saw about 4 or 5 during our hour session there.
I've seen some people complain a bit about the fact there's a £5 entry fee per person . It's not great but when you consider the fact Pause Café is essentially a shelter for cats (first) and then a café second, it's nice knowing that the money goes towards looking after, the care and welfare of these cats which for me removes any fault or dissatisfaction of the entry fee.
The food and drink items are decently priced.
As much as its a café, they also sell food like burgers, nachos and cheese, a cake selection etc so there's a good choice.
This was the first cat café I've been to and it's a nice change. It's not something I'd get too excited about, many of the cats can be quite reserved (or at least the ones we interacted with), but it's definitely different from your usual café.
I'll certainly be back!

Took in my 2.5 year old for a babichino and some macaroni cheese. He really enjoyed the Atmosphere and was really relaxed in there. He loved seeing the cats walking about and so did I. The staff were really nice, friendly and was a very homley experience. The food was decent. I would definitely visit this place again.
M. B.
Very nice spot that I found randomly while walking by. Lovely staff working there that will tell you stories about the cats and will have pleasant conversations. Had a tasty cheese sandwich of which I could not take any pic as the pretty white hairball was trying to steal it (she seems to love cheese as much as I do) :)
N. L.
It is a very cute place with lovely cats. Nice service and most of friendly cats. We had a nice not too stong coffee. Thank you for the nice, relaxed time here.
K. C.
One of the cutest cafes in Bournemouth! Sipping a cup of tea while playing with cats is the most beautiful way to spend your time! The cats are excellently looked after and respected, and the food is very very good ( the falafel wrap is my favourite!!) . I'd recommend to try their smoothies too 😻😻
I'm in love with the place! ❤️
R. H.
I have been to the cafe about 4 times now and I love it. It has a fun atmosphere as you can walk around and play with cats. All the employees are friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent and brilliant for veggies and vegans. I have had the vegan chocolate cake, chocolate tiffin, humous and falafel on sour dough and the italian burger - all awesome!
M. C.
The cats all have wonderful personalities. The cafe is amazing. There is so many places for the cats to go and play. Even though the cats come first and cafe comes second the food is really really good!
E. A.
I loved this cafe! Rescued cats and friendly staff, wouldn't be a cafe without the brilliant food! I'm lactose intolerant so the vegan food worked a treat 😊
The cats will be interested in your food but hygiene is taken very seriously here so there is no reason to worry! Food in boxes with lids and hand gel on the tables as well as accessible toilets 💕
J. F.
been waiting to come to this place for weeks I was so excited. surprised my mum with a little treat for mothers day. book via Facebook, and over phone. easy no probs. had a hours. we arrived slight earlier had a to wait I little bit but the staff were very friendly and welcome. the cafe it self is small, cosy great set up for the cats. I few cats were out lying around. but some were still getting usual to the place. as I book an special event we had high tea, choice of any drinks. sandwiches, cream teas and then cakes. food was OK.they come in cat proof box which was cute. however, not value for money. I paid £40 for both me and my mum £20pp. my mum did get a lovely treat bag and flower which was an lovely touch but not valve for money, I don't think it was worth it. the food was basic homemade and slight rushed. I'm guessing that most of the money goes towards looking after the cats. which I am all for. It a great idea. but needs time to work out the kinks. there was only 7 cats there but we were told more are coming which would be great. cos sometimes you didn't even see any as there we hiding or sleeping. the food needs more work on. staff were lovely and great with the cat. wish you the best of luck and thank you xxx
PS on Facebook I rate a 3* but can't change it. it's definitely a 4* the cat were worth it
M. G.
A relaxing place to eat and enjoy watching cats do their own thing.
The food, which is all vegetarian, is absolutely delicious.
You must book in advance to get a table here.
L. C.
Lovely cat cafe, do many cats to hang out with.
J. W.
Menu not haute cuisine, but passable vegan food, but the real star of this café is the ubiquitous cats! 12 friendly cats loll around, joining you whilst you eat. Booking essential, well worth a visit when in Bournemouth. Partly staffed by volunteers with a background of various disabilities, another plus point in my book. 5 stars, would recommend.
J. V.
Nice experience, though a little pricey and a down side being the cancellation policy is 48 hours when if you are looking to rearrange the timeslot. Which was a bit awkward considering we booked less than 24hours before. However, it was a lovely setting, food was nice and staff were very pleasant.
R. W.
Cats were anti social but they’re cats. Natchos great staff great
J. M.
Awesome place - like a kitty playroom! Structures designed for them to be able to retreat above and watch the proceedings! Food lovely, staff really nice, and of course the stars themselves - the rescue cats in residence.
G. W.
I've visited a few of these with my wife, who is a crazy cat lady and each time have been very pleasantly surprised. The cafe is on two floors with several live in cats roaming (usually sleeping) whilst you sample some of the very lovely human treats on offer on their menu. A great stress reliever, if you've had a bad week there is little better than sitting down, eating cake and patting Mr Snugglepuff. Ok, I dont think theres a Mr Snufflepuff but there should be.
Staff are very friendly, cafe is very clean and the residents are furry.

Here's my review of this place
Cats: 10/10
A variety of 12 cats is available. There are often 6-7 around to pet most of the time and they are absolute sweeties. Very soft, fluffy and shiny.
Food / Drink: 7/10
First off, the menu is vegan and dairy free. It is presented very nicely, however it is somewhat expensive.
Desserts are very sweet. Brownies are lovely however the cheesecake was a big disappointment. There was no cheese or cake. It was layers of chocolate and some cookie base.
Staff: 7/10
There is a lot of staff and many of them just wander around aimlessly. It kind of makes the place look far more crowded than it actually is. The stunning lady at the reception was very welcoming and explained everything clearly and introduced the cats to us.
Overall experience: 4/5
Great layout and aesthetics, friendly staff, nice atmosphere.
Suggestions:
Tone down on the sugar in the desserts.
Use soft cheese in the cheesecake, I'm sure there are many dairy free cheese alternatives.
L. D.
Had a fab time at Pause Cat Cafe. Lovely coffee, amazing apple cake and, of course, beautiful rescue cats. Watch out for white cat Michelle, she is always after food! Food is put into white boxes which make it much easier to keep food away from (michelle) cats. Very lovely and attentive staff. Hope to visit again when in the area.
M. N.
I had such a lovely time, the staff were friendly and the cats were adorable! Nothing I could possibly fault them on
T. F.
So soon you get there ,you are met by the very nice friendly Staff and when you go sit down, there are sweet and cheeky cats around ,when they come to you,you can cuddle them and play with them,it is so relaxing there
Food is good too and it is a reasonable price, just be careful, some of the cats will try anything to get your butter ,from your meal
S. T.
Fabulous place, so relaxing. Cats are amazing and like to play (when awake!), nice staff - great food/drink. Thanks, we'll be back 👍 😃
K. D.
Amazing Cat caffe. Staff is super nice, they all love cats. And then the cats 😍😍😍 I'm in love.
A. P.
Disappointed at first with staff diverting cats away from us, then being told we had five minutes to leave and make payment. This before we had received our food and drinks (which was apologized for a few minutes later after she checked our booking)
Drinks were absolutely delicious.
The soup was tasty and hot. Though my sister found the vegetarian burger to be barely warm which was a shame.
Did manage a nice fuss of a couple of cats before we left.
S. P.
The food was tasty, the people who work there were nice and the cats were adorable
S.
A nice and quiet place. But I found it a bit expensive, a simple American coffee 2,80.
Hot chocolate 3,00 pounds. You have to book a table and you only have one hour, then in my opinion I expected more, there are few cats and the cats that are there are not very social. Honestly, I expected more, much more.
E. F.
Absolutely amazing, I cant recommend it enough! I moved into the area less than a week ago and I've already been twice, the staff are so kind and helpful and the cats are so adorable! The food and drinks are perfect too, it will definitely be a regular for me, such a homely and welcoming place!
K. B.
A lovely chilled out cafe with excellent coffee, smoothies, and veg and vegan food. Really friendly staff and of course, the kitties are awesome
S. C.
Lovely atmosphere. Great food. Loved the cats wandering around, had to hide our food from Michelle she was very persistent!
L. P.
It's lovely, I'm so glad you give these cats a home. It's great animals bring us so much joy & your doing a great job. I enjoyed my tea & cake too thanks.
G. D.
Really fun place to go and the cats are so good and the volunteers are amazing
S. C.
This is one of my favourite places to visit, although I'm not a fan of vegan and veggie food even I like these! The cat puns on the menu give you a giggle and the frothy catpawcino cat is a winner. The best thing is obviously the cats though. Thoroughly recommend.
R. S.
Thanks for your amazing service, massive respect. Great Customer Service, super excellent include real amazing cats 😻 that loves to see people👉🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.
s. l.
It's a nice place if you like cats. It's a pity that you have to pay a 5 pound entrance ticket. That cup of tea will cost you too much!!!
T. C.
Friendly staff even friendly cats, spacious with plenty of things for the cats to play with and spaces for them to climb and hide
N.
All the cats seemed calm and relaxed, the berry smoothie and the chocolate chip cookies were very tasty. Friendly staff, pleasant decor. This is a lovely and fun place to unwind and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat, and it’s in a convenient spot in Bournemouth. The £5 entrance fee is reasonable, the cafe is absolutely worth going to. I will be visiting again soon!
Z. R.
Loved it ! Prices are kinda expensive but if it’s going to a good cause it’s all good!! kitties are adorable :) x
C. D.
Is a great place if you want to spend some time watching the cats and if you want to spend some money for a nobil cause.
m. b.
Food and drink were lovely, so were the cats
S. R.
Not having been to a cat cafe before I took a friend there just after Christmas. Had a.lovely welcome and explanation as to what to expect. They do have a few rules and regulations which you would expect when you have cats, but this is for the comfort of both the cats and visitors alike, and the cats are able to get away from their visitors if they want. Not a large menu, which is aimed at healthy eating/vegetarians/vegans and gluten free, but the food I had was amazingly good. Food is served in a box.
Brilliant idea as some of the kitties like to try and help you eat you meal so you can cover it up. You are free to play with the cats, unless they are asleep and mix with other people who are like minded. It’s a hint of tranquility in the middle of a bustling town, very calming and relaxing with some very happy kitties. A must if you are a cat lover. I’m going again next week !
C. E.
I am a cat lover 😹 the experience was Amazing I enjoyed it so much love all the cat's there are Amazing shall call to see them again xxxx
S. F.
Loves this experience, and I literally had the best latte with cute feline company
A. C.
This place is just so lovely. A variety of super cats and great staff/volunteers to look after you and the cats. I feel the prices are fair, the menu is not vast but it was enough for us. We have been a few times, and will be back. Definately recommend this if you love cats!
(Our table was 1 adult 2 children, 3 hot meals that came in a box with a lid so you can cover it if the cats feel peckish! And my husband was meant to come too, but was poorly. They didn't quibble about refunding 1 meal deal. This was much appreciated.)
S. “. s. c. s. C.
this cafe is brilliant, from start to finish, it was very magical, deffo want to come again just wish we had one in bedfordshire
r. m.
Very welcoming café - super friendly staff and cats, delicious food and smoothies
D. K.
The most calm and relaxing cafe you could visit. The cats are amazing.. but the ethos of the staff must also be praised.
A. M.
Amazing! The booking I made through the website included food and cake and drink as part of the entry and it's amazing value. Prices are only high when you need to add on additional things but it's all for a good cause. You can also buy gifts/souvenirs too. Gift vouchers available, really good idea for a gift as its a really nice experience. You get a good two hour slot in there with the kitties. Food is good and portion sizes good, choice of vegan options.
M. S.
Absolutely brilliant.
Almost worth going to Bournemouth just for this.
Completely run by volunteers, the food and drinks are great.
They currently have 11 cats and it's the purrfect place for them.
P. W.
We enjoyed our visit, had some drinks with some furbaby company.
R. L.
This is a really incredible place. There is a huge selection of enjoyable vegetarian and vegan food, which I appreciated. All of the staff are very friendly, as are (most of) the cats! Speaking of, the cats are all very sweet and mischievous too; many times one of them tried to steal my food, and very nearly succeeded. If you like cats, then why not give this place a shot?
I. B.
Really lovely place and super friendly staff! Everyone contributed to extra clam atmosphere, our hot drinks arrived with a cat shaped top! Brownie was super yummy and cats adorable
k. h.
A fantastic idea for stressed out cat lovers. Just sit and have a drink/snack and watch your feline friends wander. The cafe is small at the front, but widens to a larger area at the back. The staff give you a very useful talk at the start to give you information about the cats, and what they do. I found the drinks hot and delicious, and the staff were friendly. Even more impressive, they employ people with disabilities, and I thoroughly support that. If you can, get down there and have a cuppa - support this worthy cafe and the wonderful work they do
H. W.
Delicious vegan food! Great coffee. Well looked after cats. Delightful and friendly staff! Highly recommended.
P. C.
A well run cafe for cat lovers. Many cats live happily here. They are well looked after and have a great environment. Food and drinks are lovely here.
S.
Loved the cat cafe. There is a small cover charge for a hour visit, this goes towards looking after the cats. You are given a seat where someone will take you order. After that, you are free to wander around and interact with the cats untill your food arrives. The cats are very cute.
Food is served in a large box so you can keep the lid on when the cats come near. Several of the cats like to try to steal your food. If you are having problems with them, the staff can move them for you.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would certainly recommend to someone looking for a different place for a meal.
A. F.
Pause is an all round great cafe. The food is amazing, the drinks taste great, the staff are really friendly, and there's the added bonus of cats! The owners stay true to their, in my opinion great, philosophy that the cats are there to be cats not to entertain you. Don't come here expecting cats to be crawling all over you, because that's not what cats do! That said they're super cute and nice and if you manage to catch them in a playful or loving mood then you're in for a real treat.
S. S. A.
The waiters are very knowledgeable and clearly passionate. The food is amazing and really reasonably priced! It's super relaxed and it's so cool being surrounded by cats! There's even a cat menu to read about each cat which is lovely. Booking is easy and you can see how your donations are spent. Really lovely place, perfect for any cat lover or food lover!!
A. C.
Went along with my son for the afternoon after seeing on Google. We had soup and a jacket potato with beans and cheese with a lovely side salad and nachos. We both had the most divine ice cream smoothies. The cats are adorable and we took many pictures. There's even a lounge downstairs with sofas and more cats to play with. The ambience was lovely, a real community feeling with friendly animal lovers who are generally nice people! The staff are wonderful and so dedicated to loving their feline friends. I highly recommend this cafe and we'll definitely return!
L. S.
Great place for cat lovers. The nice thing is that the cafe is there for the cats first and humans second. The volunteers are knowledgeable and clearly look after the cats well. The cats are adorable and very friendly. Decent cup of coffee too. You do need to book in advance which makes sense as it's small and too many people could distress the cats.
m. b.
Been here, volunteered here, the place itself is just getting better and better and the atmosphere is of pure bliss, full of open minded and generally nice people just sharing a magical moment of connection between themselves, others and obviously the cats. Just do yourself a favour and visit once in your lifetime, you won't regret it x
D. H.
What a fantastic experience! All the cats are so well looked after and really owned the place. Food was also good but beware of the poachers, funny though
L.
My daughter took me for my birthday. It was fantastic. The staff and volunteers were lovely. They do gluten free food which we struggle to find when eating out. And the cats were so much fun. Definitely going back. Thank you so much for a great birthday lunch!
B. P.
Love the cafe and seeing all the kitties! Been in here twice now and both times staff have been so warm and welcoming, such an impressive little cafe too with all of the climbing bits and pieces along the walls. Only thing I would say is the coffee and food does need to have work, I had the apple cake last time and it was very dry and the smashed avocado sandwich this time and it was quite bland... But otherwise a lovely cafe and a lovely cause behind it! Would come here again.
C.
It was a great experience visiting the Pause Cat Cafe! Before entering the actual cafe, we were first informed thoroughly about what you should and shouldn't do. This is very important for the well-being of the cats, and your own experience with the cats. You receive your food in plastic containers with a lid, so the cats don't try to steal it (like cats usually do). There were toys around so you could play with the cats, which were quite interested in the mouse on a yarn! I've had a great experience here and recommend having visited a cat cafe at least once in your life.
B. M.
Wonderful experience! Cats are adorable - each and every one of them! Staff are so loving and attentive - both of cats and customers! Can't wait to come again!
R. Y.
A great place for a friendly and very different place for lunch and a good coffee. My two children very much enjoyed the experience and the staff are always nearby if any of the cats decide to get too close. They make it very clear that the cars are all rescue cats and that a couple of them are less friendly - buy once you know this and which ones they are all the others just come up to you and like the attention.
C. S.
Lovely cafe, friendly staff, enjoyed see the cats, would recommend for any cat lover
M. C.
Cute cats, lovely staff, good drinks - we had very nice smoothies. They also have an interesting food menu but we didn't try it. Staff makes you feel welcome and naturally you can play with the cats if they're in the mood. Great place, will definitely return.
Be aware that you need to book in advance, £5 per person on the website
D. W.
The cats all have their own little personalities, and it's lovely to see them interact with the customers and each other.
All the staff were very friendly and are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the cats!
A lot of thought and effort has gone into every bit of the cafe, from the amazing decor, to the ethical menu. There was a lovely photo album which has documented the journey of Pause too!
L. D.
Where do I start !?!??! This place was absolutely purrrfect. The staff was so friendly and went through the cause and the way to handle the kitties. Then the coffee and beverages we had was so nice and of quality. The cats were so adorable and friendly and overall the place had an amazing vibe to it. Would definitely go there again.
J. m. M. r.
Lovely little cafe, wonderful concept, but a bit pricey!
I was so excited to go to this café, I specially arranged my day around going there. I loved the way we were given descriptions of each cat while being introduced to them, and the way the cats rule the roost!! Great idea to get lids for the food, it came in handy when the sneaky opportunists came along.
Such an innovative idea for a charity/business that I thought there should be more popping up everywhere.
But I understood why not when it came to the price. I can understand a cover charge going towards the well-being of the cats, but £5 each just means that I will most probably not be going again anytime soon, which is a shame. Perhaps £5 per table, or per set amount of people could be a better idea, and it might mean more in the long run.
Hopefully good things in store for this place!
A. G.
Such an amazing place! The cats were very well looked after and the staff were friendly and helpful! I really enjoyed walking around and meeting all the cats and they were happy to be stroked and photographed. Can not wait to visit again!
S. C.
A really nice experience if you're a cat person, the fact that all the cats are rescued and they have staff with disabilities just made it a really lovely place for the community, there should be more places like this!
A. P.
We really enjoyed our visit and came to Bournemouth specifically for it. The cats are rescues and clearly absolutely adored by the staff. We had a lovely afternoon talking to the wonderful staff and laughing at the cats - all of which are big characters. Great coffee from a cafe with a conscience.
D. C.
Good food. Vegan and GF options both good. Cats are fantastic, great characters and well looked after. Make sure you book a table in advance, they don't do walk ins. Cats are the priority, the cafe exists for them and is there to support the rescue work.
J. J.
Be careful you don't rack up too great of a bill, believe me it's easily done but this place is truly special! Fantastic atmosphere and everyone there clearly cares about the well-being of the cats, food is really nice and drinks are good too. The hygiene is really good and I recommend going if you have the chance and making the effort to go. Please book to avoid disappointment.

I love cats and this is a really great concept however on my visit I found that there were more volunteers than there were cats and what few cats were around, you couldn’t get near them or interact with them as there was always a volunteer with them.
I can understand paying the £5.00 each to go into the cafe but we then paid another £11.30 for a hot drink and slice of cake (wasn’t much choice) so in total cost us £21.30 for an hour in there which was disappointing considering we got very little interaction with the cats.
K. G.
Really lovely cafe. The staff were nice, the hot chocolate was tasty, and the cats were so relaxed. Several of the cats came up to see us, but when they'd had enough and wanted to go out the back they could. Such a nice place to spend an hour of your day!
J. H.
I visit on a regular basis and I have enjoyed every visit, the staff are friendly and do a great job serving the customers and looking after the cats. The cats are great even if they can be a little naughty trying to pinch food now and again, they are very well looked after and have the freedom of the cafe (not kitchen or drink area) to do as they please when they please. I just wish I lived next door so I could visit everyday
G. S.
Just been treated by my son to an early mother's day treat.
Really lovely ? Cats freely roaming round as it is their home . Staff lovely and friendly.
We have the Dorset apple cake to eat.
Absolutely delicious. Served in a dish so could be covered if the cats popped up to say hello great visit
Will go back sometime

If you like cats... A lovely, unique, cafe. Not just the cats, but the concept, the staff, the rescue centre ethos. The cat climbing frames are an engineering marvel too. A very friendly place. If you don't like cats... not quite as fun, maybe - but the rest still applies.
C.
Really lovely place. Took my sister for her birthday and she had a wonderful time. The people are friendly and the food is really good. We paid for a birthday treats package which included a behind the scenes tour, and was very good value with the food we got as well. It gets busy very quickly so book in advance, especially if you have children as they can only have 3 children in at a time. Only downside is that the bookings are for an hour, and with drinks, lunch, pudding and the tour we were in for 1 1/2 hours. We weren't rushed out by any means, but if our table had been booked immediately afterwards then I imagine we would have struggled to fit everything in.
D.
Excellent experience. Welcoming and clearly have a love for cats. I loved how they're all rescue cats and your £5 entry goes towards their vet and food bills. Volunteering staff also need a shoutout for their friendliness. Will definitely return!
J. S.
An amazing little cafe with most welcoming team human and cats! A very cosy dining experience with fury friends and a couple of cute theifs! Living in London you expect to see this sort of place a lot, however this was our first experience in a cat cafe and certainly wont be the last. They do so much to help the community allowing anyone to be a volunteer. It's clear the people who do volunteer know about the cats and are happy to be doing their part for the cafe and cats. Thank you again for a fancatstick lunch and good luck in the future!
A. H.
The first cat cafe I've been too!
Staff all friendly and helpful, hygiene is a clear priority with sanitizer on each table and the food delivered in boxes, very impressive. As the café hasn't been open a while I can understand the cats being shy however they're become more and more confident and loving! The food is amazing! Great options for veggies and vegans, would recommend the falafel!
c. j.
Five pound entry to be ignored by cats. Good coffee though. The Five pounds goes towards the food and upkeep for the cats so it is not bad a price to pay. Go for the charity as it is a worthy cause and a novel destination. Make sure you have your allergy meds handy 🤧
A. T.
If you love cats and food then this is the place to go.
Great place to visit. The team are really friendly and you can't help but love the furry residents.
I would definitely recommend trying it at least once.
Personally I would like to see a bigger range on the menu but other than that. I love the place.
J. V.
The cat Cafe is a fun idea and is well executed. We got to stroke a few of the cats. The coffee and food was overpriced and I did not like my Dorset apple cake. Cats are very cute though, especially the ginger brothers.
N. L.
A calm chilled place to have a lovely coffee and cake which was home made. Well worth the money. Friendly staff. Beautiful friendly cats. This cafe will now be my new monthly treat to myself. Can't wait to go back
V. S.
If you love cats you have to come here! You should book online if you can as it's very popular, otherwise you may be disappointed if you turn up and there aren't any spaces. The names and characters of all the cats are explained to you before you start your experience, and there are staff around at all times making sure you and the cats are all happy. There is one cat called Sweetcheeks who will try (and usually successfully) steal your food, although most pet owners/lovers will understand this. It actually made us all laugh a lot, trying to guard our food then watching as she stole it and ran away with staff in hot persuit! The food is all vegetarian or vegan and is really nice, I had Nachos, which were a bigger portion than I expected and filled me up. It can be a bit on the cold side so wrap up warm, this might be because the ceilings are all opened up for the cats and their walkways, which are incredible! You are not allowed to pick up the cats, but you can stoke and fuss them, and if they sit on your lap that's fine. This is so they don't end up being picked up all day long by different people, it means they stay out in the cafe too rather than hiding away from people.
G. H.
An amazing experience. It's so great to see that the cats health and well being is at the forefront of this cafe. They can come and go as they please and the staff do an amazing job at making sure the cats are happy and not being bothered by their adoring fans. Can't wait to return.
D. R.
Really relaxed atmosphere, good food and great staff. The whole experience was made all the more special by the cheeky playful cats 😀 As it was my husband's birthday we also got a tour of the cats bedroom. Would definitely recommend a visit we will certainly be returning.
K. S.
Came as a walk-in client. Nice staff and sweet sociable cats. It's first a cat sanctuary and then a bar.... ideal for animal lovers. People and animals are both treated with maximum respect and the atmosphere is very relaxed
i. h.
Nice coffe, cakes and You can play with cats XD XD like a haven for crazy cat lady's XD
D. L.
Cats are adorable and its lovely to see how calm and cared for they are. Food is nice but expensive and is all vegetarian (that doesn't stop the cats hanving it) the £5 entry fee is well worth it as it goes towards the care of the cats. Would recommend to any cat lover
V. J.
I'm not sure this is for everyone but I understand why this cafe has been put in place. The staff are very friendly but I'm not too sure if this place is fair to the cats. They seem well looked after but cats are the type of animal that you need to allow them to come to you instead of forcing yourself onto them. We also had an incident with our drinks which had to be made again. Let's just say it was an 'experience'.
B. B.
Great environment, friendly and courteous staff. Food was gorgeous. Only issue is it took 45 mins and a staff prompt to get our food (cheesecake, hot chocolate and a fanta) out to the table. Considering we only had an hour slot, we wasted most of it sat at the table expectant of the food, rather than interacting with the cats. It's a shame, but I'd love to go again if the food was served a little quicker. It wasn't hugely busy, so no excuse for it, unfortunately. Hoping a future visit can sway my opinion. The cats were adorable. Absolutely amazing experience with the cats, they just need to uphold on the expectancies of a café too.
J. M.
I visited with my friends, who are vegan and vegetarian, and it was really lovely that they didn't have to worry whether they could eat or drink here - everything is clearly labelled, the selection is great, and there's even a discount for choosing a non-dairy milk. The cats were pretty cute too.
K. E.
After my old cat, Jerry, died recently, I needed a "cat fix" and my daughter kindly treated me to lunch at Pause Cat Cafe. What a lovely, relaxing place, with enthusiastic staff. The resident cats have all clearly landed on their feet here and are so well cared for. The icing on the cake was the excellent, homemade vegetarian food (I'm not a veggie so wasn't expecting anything very exciting) - it was yummy..well done everyone..we will be back and will spread the word to our fellow cat lovers! 😻😻
R. (.
I have visited Pause several times. Often taking new friends here when they visit the area. Pause offers an amazing range of vegan and vegetarian food, which makes perfect sense for the type of establishment it is.
The owner has done a great job, starting a kickstarter campaign, to now expanding to a second floor. I've seem some complain about pricings, but you are paying for the food and the care for the animals, which I am perfectly happy to do. The food is covered to prevent the cats trying to be greedy, and it is always an incredible clean place. They even take you around the building to show you what they do. Highly recommend if you care about animals or even simply enjoy lovely people or high quality vegan/vegetarian food.
B. D.
Lovely café to just sit down and watch the cats do their own little thing. The food and drinks tasted great and arrived with plenty of time to spend with the cats. It was a very relaxing experience and would definitely go again just for a coffee and a break.
T. A.
Love this place, adorable cats, good food and lovely staff.
L.
Awesome food. Great friendly staff. Especially the manageress who has a passion for the cats she looks after. If you're looking for a different type of dining out that's fun and friendly then this place is great.
J. S.
Fabulous place especially when you are cat lovers!!
A. C.
Lovely cats with some strong personalities. Paid £5 for an hours admission excluding any food or drink. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Menu a bit limited but it's more about the experience than the food.
B. H.
Absolutely loved my visit here. Was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint one bit. Lovely food, excellent service and we got to hang out with some cats! I wish I lived close enough to visit every day.
H. S.
The cat café has a really relaxed atmosphere and the money you spend here goes towards helping the cats which is brilliant. The cats are very friendly and have there own space if they need it. This is a must visit for any cat lover. Booking recommend.
C. ,.
Been here multiple times. The food is really good (especially the Dorset apple cake), the staff are so friendly and helpful. The cats are cute too. It's such a relaxing atmosphere, definitely recommend!
A. M.
It's ok. Great idea but I feel it could be more organized. If the cats are sleeping there should be a reduction on the fee if interaction was poor. So there isn't a feeling of disappointment. Might find people appreciate what you do more and donate naturally.
T. T.
It has to be said that for my girlfriend a good start with any restaurant is good food , being that she is vegetarian I can often accidentally pick somewhere with a mostly meat menu.
The Cat Cafe was the perfect lunch date for us as my lovely lady is 100% vegetarian and about 30% feline
Being embedded into the cats world the environment the staff and the food was all exceptional it's a very gentle place with comfy sofas and little for babies
I don't know if my better half noticed that I was there for the duration of a lunch date but it certainly made her whole week that's going there
J. K.
Nothing to add, a café could not get better than this. The cats are very characteristic, each one is different and the foods and drinks are vegan/ vegetarian and locally sourced. I can recommend to drink the ginger beer (no alcohol), and you get 10p discount when you choose plant milk in your hot drink👍👍👍
R. C.
Great place and made to feel very welcome. The cats are well looked after and everything is explained when you go in including the dos and donts with the cats. Food was lovely and served with a smile.
M. M.
Really nice place to go to unwind from the stressful day. The staff are extremely friendly (including the owner) and inform you of everything thats going on - they had a lovely young girl on training and the owner informed us that the training was going on and apologised if anything went wrong subsequently. Drinks were really nice, my 'Catte' tasted like a costa-grade coffee, and my partners Smoothie also scored top marks. The menu is very limited, however, I can only assume everything on the menu will taste as amazing as my Cheese and Pickle sandwich! The pudding menu is to die for and my Cheesecake was the most gorgeous cheesecake I've ever eaten. The owner likes everything to be 'ethical' and 'ecofriendly' so the menu is vegetarian, with options for Vegan and Gluten free. The cats seem very happy in the area, most of the time they come and say hello and like to be nosey as to what you've ordered in the white boxes staff give you with your food in it. Cats are very playful, I even got off the chair and sat on the floor playing with Bear and Liquorice like a little kid, but can honestly say I loved the hour I spent there. You can tell the staff are constantly watching the cats, every time Bear got his claw stuck in the mouse on a string, before I could react the staff were there trying to untangle the little munchkin. Definitely something to do again and really looking forward to Pause Cat Cafe extending their menu. 5 stars isn't enough. 50 stars easy. I'd even go as far as wanting to volunteer myself in making this beautiful little cafe thrive even more. Jaya, if you ever need any extra peeps, give me a shout! 😄
L. B.
What a lovely place. Food was fresh and the added enjoyment of cats walking around which was relaxing and therapeutic.
A. E.
Most of the kitties were asleep. A slightly overzealous volunteer made me feel like I couldn't go near or touch the cats as "they need 18-22 hours of sleep a day". I have a cat so know how much they like their sleep, but a gentle scratch on their ear doesn't disturb them. Not sure I would return TBH.
J. F.
Such a chilled out experience with friendly staff and great food. I can recommend the nachos, just watch out for the cheese thief!
A. H.
if you don't book you won't be coming in. popular little cafe with currently 12 rescue cats living within, under rules tailored to suit the cats. if you don't mind eating with cats walking on tables and trying to grab food off your fork then you will fit in just fine. personally I tell a cat to get off the table and push it away. that is frowned upon here! my eldest had his bun bitten into and stolen by a white cat, what made me chuckle was that it had beetroot humous spread thickly on it which then went all round the cats muzzle. looked like a clown with large pink smile. haha. food below average I felt, but its the cats and the super cat highways which is the main event.
D. B.
I have wanted to go here for a while as it is such a funky idea, but the hourly charge has always put me off. Deciding to bite the bullet we finally went. I lt was everything you expect.. A cafe full of cats. It was fun eating with the moggies but what has given it 3 stars is the staff. There was a few mess ups on our order and I know they have to keep an eye on the cats, but it felt like I was being watched by a security guard. Made my friends and I feel really uncomfortable.
L. R.
Lovely place with beautiful cats. Smoothies were very good. Staff all friendly and helpful.
L. W.
There are 12 cats in the cafe, the white cat Michelle has got a lot of character, as she likes to hiss and bite. The food is vegetarian and vegan, it comes covered over in case the cats try to nick the food. There are tables upstairs and downstairs where the cats have beds in all different shapes and sizes.
J. O.
Chilled atmosphere and nice food. Lovely way to spend an hour with cats who may or may not Grace you with their presence :) can always go find them and try and tempt them to play with all the toys they have abouts! Will deff visit again
L. G.
Gorgeous cats and I love the company’s values. Vegetarian only menu with yummy food.
P. L.
Had a wonderful time. The cafe is run primarily for the benefit of the cats - cat and human interactions are on the cat's terms. The cheesecake is the nicest I've ever eaten! Will be returning.
R. D.
Went their over a year ago an I have to say the staff are very friendly, the cats were lovely and they have a great selection of food. You can also have fun playing with the cats.
W. C.
Super tasty food and SO MANY CUTE KITTIES 🥰
l.
very nice and friendly staff, adorable cats and delicious coffee! a relaxed atmosphere as well. you can tell Pause really cares about its feline inhabitants!
A. M.
Adorable kitties, lovely drinks too.
J. H.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food - my boyfriend and I are not veggies but we both LOVED the chickpea burger, and chocolate cheesecake was delicious! Really nice to relax and have a coffee in the company of cats 🐱
H. S.
Great price and experience, absolutely worth a visit. Our friend who wasn't too keen on cats still found the experience enjoyable. The food and drinks are very nice too.
L. F.
Great experience if you are a cat lover. Booking is essential if you want to eat and spend time with the cats 😻
J. B.
I worked here for 3 weeks and it was awesome. I love the cats and the staff. They are so lovely and cute. If you're here in Bournemouth visit the cafe. It's worth it.
S. G.
We had a lovely time at Pause today. Friendly staff, gorgeous kitties and a fab menu. We didn't eat today but sure will be booking another visit soon!
P. T.
A great place to eat, rest and play. The cats are well looked after and friendly. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We will be visiting again soon.
L. S.
Lovely experience loved seeing the cats
E. S.
I had a great time. Lovely staff and delicious food 👌
A. P.
Lovely spacious cat cafe. Staff are all friendly. Lots of cats dotted about the place having a nap. Nice place to unwind and relax with a cup of tea.
M. S. (.
Very nice relaxing atmosphere, a limited but nice menu just not to my tastes. The cats are great although don't expect many of them to be awake. A relaxed cat is an asleep cat. 🐈 🐈 🐈
A. G.
If you love cats, good food coffee and have a sense of fun you must visit. Lovely volunteers who look after the rescue cats who are happy to talk to you.
T. K.
A lovely cafe home to over a dozen cats, and several kind staff members. If you enjoy being around cats then this is the place for you. Beware some cats are friendlier than others!
E. R.
I loved it. Ate lunch around cats, atmosphere was great and so was food.
J. M.
Folk giants Show of Hands hosted a quality 1 day festival in the sub tropical garden; beautiful surroundings and cracking music from veteran LGBTQ campaigner and rocker Tom Robinson; also Show of Hands. The restaurant could do with more staff, waited 25 minutes in a queue with hot food, you end up paying for cold food!
C. L.
Very relaxed environment with a mixture of rescue cats. Friendly staff, coffees/cold drinks and lunch type foods. All round a pleasant experience.
S. W.
An amazing time with the cats. Charming and a happy place. To be. The staff are lovely. And the cafe is so clean. Cant wait to go again.
D. “.
Happy cats; lots of them, great food, and caring/attentive staff. An enjoyable experience for humans and felines alike! Highly recommend :)
S. B.
If you are a cat lover then this is a must visit for you, but you have to book in advance as it is very popular.
D.
not sure who gave a negative review but I can say that I visit the cafe regularly and the cats are well loved and looked after, I have made some good cat friends and they are happy
D. H.
Nice place does smell a lot but that's what you get if you have loads of cats running around
M. d. D.
Love this place, they offer a full vegetarian menu and a good range of soft drinks the staff are mainly volunteers and they are great but of course the stars of the show are the cats, all of which have there own unique personality, definitely will return
B. A.
Lovely kitty's I really enjoyed seeing the cats and staff are very helpful the best bit was when I think it Michele the white cats sitting on my tablet while I had my gluten free wrap which was lovely to eat and she was good just sat there while I was eating hope to go again next month also it be my first time on my own thanks to all the staff and kitty's for helping me Barbara Archibald
D. O.
I visted pause cat cafe! on my birthday with my two daughters, I found very relaxing, and friendly staff and the cats where adorable and the , food was very tasty, I will recommend to friends and family
D. M.
Fab place to relax amongst our feline friends. Great selection of food and drinks - no meat, but there are some really tasty options, I'd recommend the vegan breakfast.
J. G.
Really nice atmosphere and the food is okay, but it's very expensive and there are normally long wait times. Also there's not a very high chance you'll be seeing too many cats, it's all down to luck really.
J.
Cats were very sweet and so were staff. Food portions are bigger than you expect so don’t over order like we did!
C. W.
Lovely place to visit. Think the cats need more time to adjust then will probably be 5 stars. Food and drink fab
Y. W.
Fantastic place; went with my daughter. The food is excellent - hot croissants and tea - best breakfast with furry friends for company. Highly recommended...!!
J. S.
Yummy food. Lovely friendly staff. I just had lunch from the specials board and it was one of the best things I have tasted. It was Avacado with sweet chilli on sourdough bread.
S. S.
Pause cat cafe is a fabulous place on a short break in Bournemouth an missing our own kitties it was lovely to spend time here , very relaxing warm and welcoming the staff were great some of the volunteer staff were special needs and still did a fab job we will definitely be coming back again
E. H.
Interesting place all about cats so got to love them helped by volunteers bit smelly you best to book if you go we liked the experience but didn't like being shut in
S. M.
Lovely place. Big area where you can find friendly cat and enjoy a drink with nachos :) really clean
M. F.
Initially tentative over whether a café with cats would work as a concept would work but it truly does. Lovely, relaxed and friendly atmosphere in a great café.
J. B.

E. L.

J. P.
Lovely place staffed by caring and lovey people. Friendly cats and helping a great paws.. err cause
M. P.
You have to pay to get in and then pay for a coffee bit odd, especially as you can't pick up the cats, which I understand for safety reasons but when you have cats and know how to handle them it loses the whole experience.
D. A.
Kittens everywhere. One tried to bite my girlfriend but she had cat-like reflexes. Also the maine coon was amazing.
L. F.

It's a great concept - a cafe with cats. If only they'd been awake 😄. (All but one were asleep)
My only complaint is that you are served instant coffee, despite real coffee being advertised. There's a coffee machine in sight but that isn't used, the coffee comes from the kitchen and it's terrible.

Really amazing place, staff are always so friendly, I've been coming here for a while now and it's nice to see their friendly faces :) and of course being around so many cute cats is just perfect, couldn't ask for a better cafe to spend my time !

Absolutely love it here and my son really enjoyed his visit. We loved all the cats and especially Marijke ❤️ Staff are very friendly and attentive. The soup I had was lovely and my son enjoyed his chocolate brownie. This is a great cafe and the cats are all very well looked after. You are an outstanding establishment and you should all feel very proud of what you do here. Thankyou for such a pleasant experience xxx

*Don’t expect to have an exciting time interacting with the cats, I’d recommend to bring some work along.*
With that out of the way…
The service was sort of lacklustre as many staff didn’t really care to attend our group, not sure if it was the same for other tables. We had to wait about 20 minutes to be served and It only happened because I had to go and ask.
The drinks were pretty good, but one of the only selling points (the presentation) was rushed and I couldn’t enjoy it to the fullest.
We came at around 16:00, meaning it was the afternoon. If you come around this time then the cats are likely to be taking naps and are less interactive. It’s understandable since they’re living creatures, however, if you come here expecting a fun ‘play-time’ with the cats then prepare to be disappointed. I would rate this place higher if the staff weren’t so apathetic. The fact that it’s approximately £5 per adult for a booking just made it worse. I did however enjoy the company of one of the cat volunteers talking to us about the cats, I didn’t catch her name but she was a very lovely woman.
Honestly, I feel as though I just had an unlucky experience, but it shouldn’t have to be the case for any customer that comes.

(Translated) There could be more cats. A small selection of drinks and food but nevertheless it is an ideal place for people who love cats.
(Original)
Mogło by być więcej kotów.
