Reviews of Picnic Park Deli
ʙ. ᴄ.
By far one of my favourite “Hidden Gems” in Bournemouth. Whether it’s grabbing a coffee in day, a cocktail in the summer months or getting cozy when they transform their cafe into “Picnic on the Piste” at winter. Honestly love this place! Martha and the team are ever so welcoming to locals as well as those not from Bournemouth.
Great food, great coffee and also offer cocktails and beers. Honestly would rather support a little local cafe/bistro like Picnic Park Deli than major chains like Costa/Starbucks.
C. F.
I moved to Bournemouth and here I got my first breakfast after a walk by the sea! I loved it. I love the place and its chic atmosphere, really cool position and people working here are nice.
s. m.
A truly wonderful place set on the ridge of the Lower Gardens closest to Westover Road. Cosy, warm designed like a ski lodge, excellent place to enjoy coffee etc.,
M. M.
Nice selection of light bites and cocktails followed by ice creams. Nicely laid out seating arrangement with lounging area complete with cushions. Nice initiative to breathe some life back into Westoverton gardens.
A. F.
Fab, fab, fab. Stumbled upon this little gem searching for hangover brunch! The staff are lovely, the service great, the location is lovely with a view of the gardens and sea, i had the morning gloria brunch bap and coffee, the bap was stuffed full and was the perfect hangover cure. Prices reasonable for location. An added bonus to support a small independent business especially during these uncertain times. Go there have a coffee and a bite, sit and chill, you won't be disappointed😉
E. H.
Lovely place for lunch - great views, nice music and helpful staff. Cheese toasties are delicious and the cakes and treats are to die for! Only thing to make it any better would be a toilet.
R. P.
Very nice selection of toasts, buns, tea, coffee and ice-cream.
Reasonable prices giving location, few minutes walk from the beach.
Nice terrace with outdoor seating.
A. M.
Well, you can call me a Habitué of this café. What attracts me to Picnic Park Deli? It’s my love for terraces, scenic views, music, leisure, fitness, and food! This place has got me covered.
Overlooking the lower gardens, the Ferris wheel, the sea view, this cafe is my all-time hangout place. Even lovelier are Marta and Adam, the owners of the café and all their efficient staff.
As I write this review; dressed in my jogging shorts, too hungry and tempted by the aroma of the food as I pass by. Of course, I had to make the stop! Came the Avocado on Toast with poached egg and a Caramel Iced Latte to the table. One bite in and three words- Crunchy, Creamy, and so fulfilling!
Now, you need special skills to please me with an iced latte; this one at the café is nothing short of perfection and the drizzle of caramel an indulgent treat after the jog!
Other than what I ate on this occasion, I’d like to mention the mouthwatering Grand George sandwich, made from Edam, Roast Chicken, Spinach Piquanté peppers and Chipotle Mayo. If you haven’t already, you must try it out! I'm also obsessed with their Mango Collins and Marta’s Special Mojito, so refreshing and flavoursome.
For the locals, won’t sign off without saying how much I enjoy the silent yoga class held at the café every Saturday! What more can I ask for? Fitness check, drinks check, food check! Mood check!k
K. R.
With many cafes still not open, this is a gem hidden in the Gardens In Bournemouth. Coffee is great and good selection of hot sandwiches and cakes. Sit in their outdoor seating on a nice day with a view of the gardens and the sea!
B. R.
Lovely friendly smiling staff and food so nice we came here for breakfast or lunch several times during our 5 days in Bournemouth. The morning Gloria breakfast roll is just so good! Its got a nice big seating area outdoors which is beautifully situated amongst the trees with a view to the sea (albeit slightly obscured by a road), ignoring the road nearby, you could call it idyllic! Well done all.
A. M.
Not crowded - but can't edit. Busy enough to know it would be good - and it didn't disappoint.
Recommend the salmon on toast and Avicado and halloumi bun!
S. B.
Beautiful setting, looks tropical, fantastic views to the sea, comfy seating and cushions, friendly helpful staff, disposable cups, delicious decaff tea, coffee disappointing. Like the idea of arts, fitness and music.
m. m.
Overlooking Bournemouth Gardens. Great for coffee and a snack while watching the world go by but with local artists and up and coming stars entertaining us with music and songs. 🌟✨🌠
L. M.
Loved the set up and the effort these guys have put into the aesthetics of the place. The autumn decor and the funky pumpkins were really festive. The guy serving was really friendly and chatted away to my 7 year old. The range of drinks were interesting with exciting seasonal flavours, the coffee was delicious and so were the cakes with a good choice for little ones. We would definitely visit again. My only bug Bear was that the packaging was not compostable. although there may have been a recycling bin and I'm not sure if the coffee cups were recycleable. I would be interested to hear if this is something they were working on.
A. Y.
Really good, great atmosphere, very happy and polite staff and the food and drink was awesome.
T. H.
Love it here
Great toasties, chilled tunes
Super southbourne ales and great crumble
N. K.
Great little stop-off point, always make a bee-line for it when we're in Bournemouth. Great coffee, good choice of toasties, cakes and brownies - all at very reasonable prices and served with a smile. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed!
C. N.
Awesome little Shack in the Winter Gardens, well worth a visit, outside seating (some under cover). Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble 😀
A. C.
Visited for brunch/lunch. Great place to visit for amazing food (including range of veggie options) and drinks. The staff were lovely and service was very quick! Nice place to chill out with fantastic entertainment and lovely view of the park. Will definitely be back!
L. R.
Really pleasant little foodie hub. I chose hot apple crumble and custard, truly scrummy. My preference for crumble is half and half fruit to crumble, but my friend prefers less crumble and more custard. Is there a way for the customer to choose.
J. C.
Highly recommended. Such a great find . Fabulous staff great food and excellent drinks.
V. K.
Absolutely love it here , great toasties fab coffee outside seating only , but great
d. f.
Fabulous cafe, great food & lovely terrace overlooking the gardens with the sea in the distance. I will be visiting again very soon now I've found such a lovely place.
C. B.
The best cafe in Bournemouth for sure!
Stopped by a couple fo times and aways leave feeling great and the food and coffee is really good! Highly recommend! See you soon
S. H.
Lovely place to stop for a drink and snacks - especially nice now they have 'winterised' it and effectively made it an indoor, outdoor space, overlooking the gardens towards the pier.
B. W.
Tasty sandwiches & drinks in a wonderful outdoor setting, our first pit stop in Bournemouth & will make a point of visiting next time we are in town.
A. K.
We are visiting Picnic Park Deli at least couple times a month. Your Grilled Cheese Melts are to die for. Always made from fresh ingredients, always served hot and always delicious. Halloumi fries are also very nice addition. Menu isn't too big and it is easy to find what you want to eat/drink/snack on. You can listen to live music, admire the view over the beach and sea and eat scrumptious grilled cheese melts. What else do you want or need? Maybe a dessert ;) Next time I need to try avocado toast and one of your ciders.
K. P.
Lovely surprise avacado smash on sourdough toast with an egg and it was lovely 💯👌Thanks guys!!
K. H.
Our new favourite place in Bournemouth to stop for a coffee and snack. Went several times during our week there at the start of June and never disappointed. The Morning Gloria breakfast roll and Granola Cup were the highlight for us.
N. B.
Lovely mulled wine in a relaxed atmosphere away from the bussle of the market. Will definitely come back and try to get the seats by the fire place.
G. M.
Lovely place with great view and garden surroundings. The Eat Out to Help Out scheme allowed us to pay half price! Great surprise for our first time in Bournemouth!
D. M.
A great spot, open air cafe where you can enjoy good food, tea and coffee in an elevated position in the central garden with a view of the sea. Can also have cold beer on a hot day as well.
The service is very good, food tasty and good, and price good value for money. I think think its the best place in Bournemouth where I have had coffee.
B. R.
Lovely Cafe to get something to eat & drink or even an ice-cream & sit outside in the 2 designated areas on comfortable chairs, with cushions, and enjoy the open air with views of the Central Gardens & the sea beyond. Peaceful too
J. A.
Loved this place, visited it every day while staying in Bournemouth. Great breakfast, nice ambience, I had the poached egg on avocado and toast. Reasonably priced Prosecco, nice location and excellent live music there several times when we were there on a Bank Holiday.
E. P.
Nice ambience and food. My coffee was cold but usually its okay. Nice when sunny and can look out to sea.
M. B.
Lovely place to sit down and relax, watching the world go by. Nice atmosphere, occasional live music, could benefit from a larger choice of soft drinks for those of us driving.
c. h.
Love it here, great mulled wine in winter but today lush coffee, great choice of snacks and in the park to great setting
S. K.
Fabulous Cheese toasties and cakes, good coffee, friendly and efficient service, very good value for an excellent location.
C. H.
Very good prices, efficient service and great food. Just a pity they have recently had live music which is totally unnecessary and noisy taking the pleasure out of the surroundings. So prefer to take away.
J. K.
I feel like people don't know about this place. Hidden in the park, they have absolutely nailed a cafe. Amazing food, great service and setting. Couldn't rate this place any more
K. R.
Brill brunch in the gardens overlooking the beach and giant wheel in Bournemouth. We had avocado on toast with bacon and halloumi! Yummy and great coffee too! Highly recommend! 5 Star!
J. G. C.
Great place with delicious food and drink and really unusual seating areas. Very nice people running it.
E. G.
Great spot for a coffee and added bonus of live music when we stopped. Friendly service and food looked good although we didn't have time for lunch. Will come back next time.

Lovely spot in Bournemouth gardens. Love the ski lodge vibe.
P.
Happened to be passing on our way from the beach to town in search of breakfast as everywhere on the seafront was so busy. What a gem! Plenty of tables and chairs under a wonderful canopy of trees. Perfect on a boiling hot day in August.
We had the avocado on toast, which was so delicious and very tasty. Our Americano coffees were great too!
Can't wait to return on our next visit to Bournemouth in September.
E. A. R.
Great day had by all that attended sign for change down in the Bournemouth gardens where many adverts were going on throughout the day 😀👍
A. B.
This place is just wonderful. Love everything they do! Keep up the good work. Thanks guys!!!
J. F.
Amazing ambience. Terrific-tasting toasties. Hot chocolate and Mocha were BUSSIN’. The vibe is unmatched. Shout out to Marta and Adam.
L. S.
Amazing location raised up above the Lower Gardens. There is often nice chilled live music playing. I get an immediate feeling of calm sitting here looking out over the gardens.
A. B.
A lovely location, great food. Would be nicer if smokers had to sit in a separate area at the back so we don't all have to indulge in their habit !
T. E.
They do nice grilled cheeses and brownies also my friend works here :)
J. G.
Such a beautiful place to chill and relax with lovely food and drinks. With such beautiful views and wonderful atmosphere. The staff are lovely and friendly too. 😊

Delicious food & great service. I found this gem whilst walking around the park and I must say it's a great spot for breakfast or lunch, it's fresh produce and you can see the quality in every product they make. I would highly recommend you visit them!

A lovely place to sit and watch Bournemouth go by! Not your average cheese melts... go for the Proud Mary! So nice to stop here for a beer or wine in the summer, with an ice cream! Very clean, friendly staff, and great events held here too. Also love it at Christmas time when they serve mulled wine, surrounded by cosy blankets and Christmas music! Highly recommend!
K. Y.

The best spot for coffee, ice cream and quality food in Bournemouth. The vibe is always welcoming and chilled. It's a very special place - both locals and visitors must check it out to see why!
B. K.
I have visited a lot of places. From Las Vegas to the Crimea. But nowhere have I been so served as Picnic Park Deli. A very nice staff that makes the best ice cream in town. And yes, coffee - fantastico
S. B.
Best cafe in Bournemouth! You'll not taste a better cheese melt, Proud Mary's a winner every time! The staff are so friendly, you'll feel like a regular after one visit. A must whilst in Bournemouth!

C. K.
Lovely place to sit and watch the world pass by.
Lovely food and drinks and if you time it right, relaxing live music.
J. M.
I love this place! The food, drinks and service can’t be faulted, and it’s an independent local business which I always look for when wanting a coffee or bite to eat in town. Definitely worth the visit and will be back again!
J. S.
A small kiosk doing basic food and drinks in a nice shady setting under trees at the top of Bournemouth Gardens. They are obviously trying to make it a good stop for people and have games and table tennis and outdoor yoga etc..All in all excellent but I've taken a star off for the obtrusive music. You have to be careful with choice of music for a broad audience but it is possible to do it well. This cafe doesn't though - at least not to my taste. Please change!
L. B.
Recommended by a friend so called in for a cheese melt and a tea as I had a couple of hours to kill whilst in Bournemouth. Lovely little cafe/deli and cheese melt with lots of filling. Friendly chat with the owner. Would definitely call again if in the area

Lovely little cafe overlooking Bournemouth gardens - great for the family as right next to lots low cost & free activities such as ping pong, the bird aviary & a lovely open air art exhibition where you can find local arts & crafts (the art is daily from 10am - 4.30pm & runs from the last week of May till first week of sept every year)... also easy for parking & for a 5 min walk down to the beach - I think they even do yoga & have live music there too occassionally?! Totally would reccomend if visiting Bournemouth & looking for something to do as also right next to the main bus stops!
