Reviews of Wistmans café
R. E.
Out exploring with our dog when we popped in for our first visit. Instant warm welcome with water, biscuits and fuss for the dog. Staff really friendly and efficient. Lovely food, well presented and tasty. Enjoyed the range of art works on display whilst sitting back and relaxing in a comfortable setting.

This little cafe is so unique! Cozy and quiet, perfect for a lunch/brunch break. Delicious food, fresh and made to order, our sandwiches were really good and milkshakes are to die for! And excellent value for money.
We'll definitely reserve again soon 😊

Love this place! I really like the atmosphere, they offer the best coffee and always show the best attitude to its customers. This is a good place to study/work or chill with friends and family. Internet connection is very fast and is unlimited as well. If you're up for a fresh and well decorated place then this is a must to visit. I just want to keep coming back. Well done guys! Keep making great coffee!

A really great cafe! The interior is really nice and unique! There are lots of really amazing hand drawn pictures for sale as well. I have been looking everywhere for a London fog latte and I finally found one here! It was amazing!
J. P.
Lovely friendly staff and yummy food 😊 great coffee and homemade cake too 😋
I often come in to work and feel very welcome. Reasonably priced too. My only suggestion would be to occasionally switch up the menu 😁
V. P.
Lovely little café. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. Drinks were great especially as there were dairy milk free options. Food was really good too as were the cakes (we had 4....)!!! Also love that it's dog friendly and they have some fantastic artwork displayed on the walls which you can buy.
K. Y.
Lovely staff, great lunch options, delicious food and lots of drinks to choose from (if you like tea you'll love Wistmans). Dropped a star as there wasn't any baby change facilities, if you don't need that then Wistmans is a great cafe!
B. D.
We went there for the first time today. Had a lovely smoothie and aubergine lasagna. The atmosphere is so calm and relaxing. The staff were polite and friendly. The art work on the walls is fascinating to look at. We will definitely be back.

The best palace in Bournemouth to drink a good cup of coffee. Good quality product and an excellent service. Totally recommended
M. B.
Really nice feel to this cafe - very relaxed with a great menu. Extensive range of teas and a fabulous Espresso.
The Portobello mushroom burger is outstanding.
All polished off with really attentive staff. See you soon.

The staff here are provide a friendly atmosphere, which is complimented by the homey interior design. The art in display is impressive, and feels in place. The food is reasonably priced and well made from what I've tasted (best carrot cake I've had in a long time) and the drinks are really good too.
The coffee is different from what I expect from most cafés in the area, and has a uniquely vegetal taste, which is made stronger by the addition of oat milk. At first anything unfamiliar seems out of place but not I know what to expect I really like it. It's actually my favourite coffee on wimbourne road, and it's consistently served at a good temperature.
B. J.
Like this place, could be 5 stars but my coffee was lukewarm on drinking. Very friendly service and comfortable seats.
V. B.
Lovely little coffee shop/cafe. Had a great atmosphere, relaxing. Big selection of teas and coffees. Cakes looked delicious, sandwiches were tasty. Staff were lovely. Decorated beautifully, lots of drawings which can be purchased! Gem of a place to find.

Homemade food. 1920s themed. Amazing carrot cake. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Go!
What a cracking little place this is. A proper little.gem that has character, great service and the best carrot cake you'll ever find but there are plenty of other cakes and treats available.
My first experience of Wistmans was a carrot cake for our daughters christening. I love carrot cake. It's my favourite so after my wife had some she thought it a good idea to get a whole cake in for the christening. I wish we'd just taken it home to be honest and had it to ourselves. I managed to get a piece and think I got to take a little bit and I mean little bit home with me.
I've been meaning to actually get in here ever since for a cuppa and some cake, I pass it on my way to and from work but sadly I'm well before and just after opening and closing times.
We all decided to head down there one Saturday morning to grab a drink and a slice of cake, where else!
Sadly.I was out of luck with Carrot cake but that was a good and bad thing. Good because I could choose something else.to try and bad because there were some fantastic looking cakes to get stuck into.
Luckily the sofa and chairs at the front were free so we.could all plonk ourselves down and watch everyone go by. In the background you can hear people chatting and soft music that really makes the atmosphere here. It's well worth checking out the pictures hanging on the wall and if you fancy taking one home you can buy them should you wish.
The bulk of atmosphere here is provided by the 1920s theme, the rest by customers and the obvious delight that is served up from coffee, Russian tea and various homemade treats such as the famous carrot cake to a Maple and Peacan Flapjack.
It's not all about cake though. Wistmans also serve up sandwiches and toasted sandwiches with a great selection of fillings. Their menu is available via their website so you can have a look before you put your shoes on.
We opted for:
Myself - Russian Caravan tea and a Maple.and Peacan Flapjack
My wife - Cappuccino and a slice of carrot cake.(Last slice)
Our little man - Babyccinno and a Maltese Cake
Our little lady - Her milk and a bit of everyones cake.
Finally service. Your order is taken at your table on a tablet. Staff are friendly and genuinely nice and any questions on the food gets an answer from the people preparing it for you. Payment is tsken and you walk away looking forward to your next visit.
So to round up. Homemade food. 1920s themed. Amazing carrot cake. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Go!
K.
Staff always friendly. Good value for money and caters well for vegans.
O. O.
Great service, tasty food, competitive prices

This is a vintage/quirky cafe on the high street but in a spot that is nicely out of the way from the footfall of Winton shoppers. It was quiet when we arrived (11 am weekday) and the staff were friendly/accommodating upon arrival. Table service is always a nice touch and listening to Luther Van Dross whilst we relaxed on their couch and looked at their wall art was awesome. The menu looked good and I ordered a vegan flapjack with a honeydew melon cooler - both were delicious. It came to around £8-9 for two drinks and two cakes, which is about the price you pay these days, if not a tad cheaper. This place provided good food, drink and service. I look forward to my next visit.
A.
Incredible little dog friendly cafe, amazing food, great service and incredible art/sketches available to buy. Will 100% be back soon and think we've found our new regular favourite! Really unique and quirky!
E.
i was one of the first customers i think when this cafe opened on deliveroo, and i remember thinking then wow - won't be long before these guys take off. such good food!! been back a few times since. everything is top notch, top quality. my fave is the blt with garlic sauce and the carrot cake. simple food perfectly done. keep it up :))
-- only wish i could take a pic of the food unfortunately always end up eating it before i get chance lol.
n.
Best carrot cake you can get plus great service

Wistmans cafe is simply a wonderful place to go and spend your money. A real gem of a place where as you step out of the cold you are welcomed by a perfectly warm room and welcoming staff.
A good choice of different styled chairs and tables to sit at all of which you could imagen being in a 1920's stately home.
Wistmans supports local artists like myself by offering wall space to hang their pieces. All artwork are for sale and there is something for everyone to love and hopefully take home.
Hot and cold food and beverages available to order and will be brought to you as soon as it's made. Which gives you more time to socialise, relax or talk business.
So if you're looking for somewhere new to be social, relax after a busy day or talk business. Definetly go to Wistmans cafe you won't be disappointed. 5 star service, food, drinks and atmosphere.
V. F.
Nipped in on my work break and the cafe is lovely, really nice drawings on the wall.
Very talented and the grub was lovely too!
C. S. R.
Glad to see them open again. New owners are as great as the old ones. Looking forward to come back

This is a lovely alternative cafe with exceptional food. We have been there a couple of times and each time walked away with a smile on our face. The Tres Leche cake tastes amazing, and is a must to try. They are also offering a takeaway services during lockdown, which means we can enjoy our favourite dishes at home.
R. P.
What a gem of a cafe! Great food, very friendly staff, reasonably priced and such a relaxed atmosphere - after my 3rd visit within 2 weeks this has definitely become my favourite cafe in Bournemouth. I even got offered vegan cheese with the Portobello burger ☺️ 👍
E. P.
The coffee here tastes amazing. The food selection is impressive and creative. The cakes are delicious. Plus the staff are always really friendly and helpful. There is also some fantastic artwork for sale.
It's the perfect place to either relax with friends for a few hours, or grab a takeaway coffee on your lunch break.
Best coffee shop in Winton.
J. A.
Lovely cup of coffee. I had a flat white and it was very mellow and not too strong. Also hot, rather than warm that seems to be normal at most coffee shops. Very pleasant surroundings and plenty of comfy armchairs.
A. a.
Your tuna melt signature is superb and scrumptious 😋
H. C.
Interesting vintage interior with a collection of drawings. Friendly staffs good tea and coffee.
R. P.
First coffee break after lockdown re-opening. Great relaxed atmosphere, not busy - excellent vegan coconut cappuccino and banana loaf not too sweet. Very friendly staff and well situated - it's easier to find a parking space on this end than in the middle of Winton's busy high street. Selection could be a bit more varied for Vegans but that's more of a suggestion than complaint 😉. Prices are reasonable. Impress me with your food and I'll change it to 5 Stars! Either way, well worth a visit, and this will be my first choice in Winton.
M. N.
The atmosphere is lovely, and there are some fantastic posters, prints and canvas'. The furniture too is classy and quirky - comfy couches and leather chairs. Very clean, dog friendly as well. Good value for money - sandwiches cost about £4.50 and it's fresh. However, I was a little unhappy with the service. We had to wait for long periods to get the waitress' attention, even though it was crowded. However, she was very friendly and the food was fresh. I may go back if I want a cafe to lounge in for a few hours, but probably not my first choice otherwise. Top marks for decor though!
A. H.
The coffees here are great, but there is also a large range of teas and smoothie options available. Food here is consistently good with lots of sandwiches and toasties to choose from. The unique decor of the owner's own art work also helps to set this place apart.
S. F.
Food is absolutely lovely but unfortunately there seems to be a couple of new waitresses who are making it a bit of an awkward experience now when we visit. The first couple of times the lady was really lovely and it was clearly table service. The last 2 visits it's different people and 1 week they've not come over when we've sat down so I've picked up the menu off the counter, we've chosen then gone up to order and pay, the 2nd week we've sat down, I've assumed as before I'd need to pick up the menus so have done (at the same time as her apparently walking around to do the same) then they've not come to our table so I've gone up to order and pay first again. However on both visits we've seen them go to the next few customers who come in and give a table service, it's not feeling particularly friendly towards us. I really like the food here, but this does put me off going now, as it does feel awkward not knowing what's expected of us when we walk in.
T. J.
Interesting selection of sandwiches and toasties, plus good coffee. The cakes also looked tasty but didn't try any today. Staff were friendly and efficient - tables were cleared and wiped down promptly, which is nice to see (doesn't happen everywhere). Would definitely recommend.
R. A.
Amazing food and coffee so relaxing I often pop in to do work away from the office
M. W.
This cafe serves the best coffee in Winton. It's funky, cool and relaxing. The food is amazing and the portion sizes are great. They serve a wide range of cake, I'm yet to try the cakes but it's on the list! Staff are lovely and very helpful. All in all a super place to relax on a busy high street.
J. A.
In town staying with a friend and found this little gem just around the corner - absolutely lovely staff, always kind and helpful, and the decor and general aura of the space is just so cozy and welcoming!
The art displayed is gorgeous and definitely adds to the space rather nicely (bonus: it's a gallery too so you can purchase most of the art I'm pretty sure)
Food is great, coffee is great, a large selection of teas and cakes, cater for gluten free - couldn't say a bad word about this place!
A. S.
The menu offers an impressive & tasty selection of teas, coffee and food, with many vegetarian options. I'd especially recommend their own burger and the avocado toast. Everything tastes very fresh, and it's a nice cosy atmosphere. The only thing I'd say is: plan if you're going with multiple people because there aren't too many seats. Overall 5/5
c. z.
Wistmans kindly baked a delicious carrot cake for my partners birthday. It looked and taste amazing, and they were kind enough to leave a little birthday message inside.
Thank you guys!
S. J.
Hands down the best coffee shop in Bournemouth, I don't get to visit as often as i did when i lived in Winton, but when i do, i always grab a green mint latte (they are the only place i have found that has this particular syrup, hey.... don't judge it until you try it!) and a slice of the best damn carrot cake i have ever had.
Just go there!
D. B.
We visited Wistmans after seeing that they had won the local best coffee award. Love everything about the venue from the dark moody atmosphere, to the local art on the walls. The iced coffee we had was well balanced and the cinnamon added was a nice touch. Will be going here again.
A. A.
Such a cool place - great choice of teas. I had Lapsang, and it was flavoursome and well presented. The cakes were great, and seemed genuinely home made. Great service too. Will be returning!
S. W.
Lovely place, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, good coffee and food and dog friendly to boot. They have some vegan cakes and other options as well. The art on the walls is all for sale if something catches your eye. Well worth a visit.
C. K.
Need to upgrade the seating very old sofas and Chesterfield chairs past there best and take up so much room. Good service and menu.
a. n.
excellent service, food and coffee. The avocado sandwich is sublime. The owners are very friendly. Without a doubt, the next time I visit Bournemouth I will go back . Thanks.
P. K.

Had been meaning to visit for ages, and went a couple of Saturdays ago for a catch up with a friend. Could not have been more pleased with choice of venue. A great selection of drinks and food, good atmosphere, a friendly welcome and great service. I'm planning to make it a regular haunt! Great to have this in Winton.
v. b.
Visited for tea and cake. We had planned on going somewhere else but they were closed so after a quick Google and read of reviews we decided to go to wistmans instead. They have a great selection of teas and ours was served in a teapot with a cute knitted cosy. My daughter went for the winter spice tea and declared it delicious. The slice of carrot cake was moist, tasty and huge - enough for two to share. The lemon and oat slice was also delicious. Would visit again.

Always my first choice for coffee when in Winton. The coffee and food are great, the staff also, and it’s a calm comfortable space with plenty of original art to look at. So lucky to have such a fabulous independent coffee shop in Winton.
C. R.
Lovely place, huge collection of teas, quality beautifully prepared food, I tried muesli on toast -sounds odd but oh my goodness it's divine.
Staff are friendly, decor pleasing and relaxing cosy atmosphere.
A. M.
Great new cafe on Winton high street - tea and coffee are good value. A 'small' cup of tea actually gets you a pot of tea you can get two cups out of. They also do snacks, and light lunches like cheese on toast. Nice place!
S. N.
Great menu, decor and exceptional service. They managed to have something for five adults and two kids, including some picky eaters (Adults, actually) we all left feeling well fed and extremely well looked after. It is worth the detour and search for parking, to try it.
J. L.
Perhaps the best carrot cake ever made here. It’s so good that I have recurring dreams about it. I’ve moved away from Bournemouth and Wistmans is the place I miss the most. Your carrot cake is the foundation of Winton, it’s what keeps it up. Without it, Winton is nothing. All hail Wistmans Carrot Cake. Damn good coffee too!
L. P.
Amazing place, perfect for gathering with friends, studying or just enjoying a wonderful coffee or tea (with knitted cloth on the teapots!). Delicious sandwiches for breakfast or lunch are going to make your day :-D enjoy!
B. R.
Lovely relaxed & friendly cafe. Good coffee & cake. I had cheese on toast, simple and delicious. Plenty of cheese on crunchy toast, nice & hot
H. N.
Excellent, an oasis where you can drink in the calm atmosphere, sip great coffee and eat tasty food. We had the avocado toast and it was delicious. We'll be back!
K. B.
