Tiny little coffee shop but manages to sell everything you didn't know you wanted. Happy to see they were open past 4pm unlike many other coffee shops and we got our coffee fix plus a tasty, toasted sourdough sandwich and some other treats. Coffee is decent too. 👌

One of my favourite cafes in Brighton. They have a wide selection of hand made food including cakes, salads, sandwiches, Toasties and more. Staff are always helpful and friendly and there is plenty of seating although it gets busy at peak times. They accept amex too which is great.

The selection of food is fantastic and the staff are welcoming. This is a real gem of a place and they must be doing something right as there is frequently a queue to get in. great coffee and sandwiches. only reason for 3 stars is the service is extremely slow. spend 5-10mins queuing (understandable as they can only have one person inside at a time), but then ordering takes another 5 mins as there’s only one person taking orders and making coffees. Then food takes another 10 mins. absolutely love this place but they need another staff member making the drinks / a more efficient way of doing things.

The second you enter Marmalade you’re faced with the most delicious looking pastries, cakes and sandwiches; one looking tastier than the next. That’s before you see the board of all other dishes offered, making your decision even more difficult. I had scrambled eggs with bacon on toast, carrot cake and a latte and was greatly satisfied with all. Such a cosy and unique but somehow familiar interior, perfect for chats with friends, reading or studying. Would recommend to anyone visiting/living in Brighton.

Really an incredible place, insanely varied menu where everything sounds (and, in my experience, tastes) amazing. Very pleasantly surprised with the prices, paid 25 pounds for a filling breakfast for two people. Staff seemed really busy but was always polite and attentive. No reason not to go, just cross your fingers and hope there's a spot free.

I've been to Marmalade on many occasions and have always had good food and good service and am pleased that they have opened the store, perhaps Mr Harley Curtis, with your one star review, should look across the road next time you pass to see that Marmalade is actually the shop name and not a sole description of what's on sale in the store, it's like going to Gregg's and getting annoyed that you didn't get served by someone called Gregg or wondering why you can't buy half a dozen coxes orange pippin's in the Apple Store you moron!

Now The Cafe is a small restaurant with French Left Bank feel and all the cakes, coffee, sandwiches and excellent home-made prepacked meals ( Moussaka, Meat Balls etc ) are sold opposite in the refurbed Tram shelter. Aesthetically, I think this place is beautiful. More of a Parisian feel, than shabby chic. Staff are friendly and helpful. Not the biggest of places - probably has seating for around 40 people. Coffee was excellent - smooth and tasty. Perhaps because of the tiled flooring and bare walls, it is quite noisy. Not that that is a criticism - just that if you're looking for a quiet place to work/read, perhaps it isn't for you. I actually found the noise quite charming, as it's a sign that people are enjoying good conversation.

Amazing find! We were staying nearby and heard it was a place worth trying, and I'm glad we did. The food is amazing and fresh. Lots of sandwiches, salads and quiches. As well as homemade cakes and desserts. Everything we ate was delicious. I had granola, Greek yogurt and the berry compote for breakfast which was so tasty. My partner had a blt which had great bread and crispy bacon. The coffee was also very good. Creamy milk and good local roasted beans. The set up was also open and cozy, although can get crowded quick, which is not a suprise. We liked it so much we went back for lunch the following day and had the quiche with a great selection of salads. The quiche just melted in the mouth. Definitely recommend. They also change the selection often keeping it interesting. Only thing I'd change is having two toilets instead of one, but that's a minor thing. Overall great place, friendly staff and definitely worth a visit if your in Brighton. Wish we had a place like this near us in Nottingham!

Generous, wholesome, hearty and plentiful meals, from standard menu items to a rotating variety of cakes, sandwiches and salads stacked high on the counter like a barricade of carbs and coriander. You'll be served by friendly and dynamic staff in this small, vibrant, stripped back, airy and bustling cafe. During peak times, tables can be scarce, so if possible, drop by either side of the lunch rush. If you don't, the largely middle-class clientele could turn the hunt for a seat into a stern-smiled battle of passive-aggression. Either way, it's worth it for the quiche.

Lunch (amazing salads, at least five or six different varieties each day -delicious quiches, chicken / lasagne/veggie dishes - the menu changes daily) afternoon tea - brilliant cakes in generous portions. You can actually get all your meals here as they have the Marmalade store across the road selling freshly cooked (on the premises) “ready” meals. Blooming delish!
