Reviews of Milk No Sugar
A. M.
Food is good but nothing special. On the simple side. The service is very slow. It took them 25 min to make the rice.
T.
as a Vietnamese, I encourage you to try the pork sandwich, which tastes pretty close to my hometown. Coriander is the key material for its flavor. Hope to have more traditional Vietnam sandwich flavors like crispy roasted pork, or beef with black pepper sauce sandwich in the near future..
J.
Wonderful! Lovely staff, so friendly, the food is really good. Very fresh. The prices are just amazing. Thank you all so much. We had a blast. BYO and they don't charge corkage! Fantastic place.
C. C.
Amazing Vietnamese/ Asian food! Love that there are 5 different sizes to choose from for the Pho!
K. S.
Wonderful food, really good coffee, and great service. There's a large range of hot and cold drinks and you can customise your meals with your preferred protein, sauce, etc. Can't wait to visit again!
I. L.
Great value for money , delicious authentic Vietnamese food and wonderful service. Also really close to the train station! We had Vietnamese curry and pho here just before leaving Brighton and it was a lovely way to end our trip.
R. B.
Food was great but the service was so so so slow. We waited 30mins to have food on the table.
It will definitely encourage more customers if their service speed could improve.
P. D.
Great little café right near the station. They specialise in Vietnamese food with a range of "British" sandwiches too. The Vietnamese food is superb! Fresh tasting, generous portions at a very competitive price. A main and a drink cost me under £10! Will definitely return and suggest to others.
C. K.
Can't believe we've lived round the corner for a year and have only just discovered this place. Delicious food, great service, feels authentic and cosy. Amazing value too. Definitely a hidden gem of Brighton, can't recommend it highly enough!
M. H.
Food is tasty and good for value. Rice portion is small but surely you can order 2. There is only one chief so patience is needed.
Interesting hybrid: cafe, Vietnamese food and Mandarin music.
M. M.
Best banh mi I’ve had outside of Vietnam, so happy to have found this place! Can’t wait to visit again and try more of the menu, thanks guys.
R. C.
Amazing food - tasty, fresh and light. Doesn't feel like a takeaway, more like eating at somebodies house. Friendly staff, informal setting. Some of the best Vietnamese food i have eaten in the UK.
r. j. r.
Lovely coffee shop with a twist - it serves
wonderful Vietnamese food. Their PHO is
absolutely delicious. Friendly, very relaxed.
Easy access.
N. W.
Large pho beef and tofu 🤘🏻
Authentic food and quick serving !
Absolutely love it 😍
N. B. (.
Really lovely food at a very welcoming place with friendly staff and owner / chef - great food at very reasonable prices. Don't miss the Vietmamese iced coffee - what a discovery .
M. S.
Had Pho and can't fault it, nice little gem with really nice staff who gave great advice. Great for cold days and social distancing was good ✨
A. A. W.
Tasty pho and banh mi, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. Service is always friendly and we will be back to try the rest of the menu!
G. R.
Very tasty banh mi, definitely yours with pate for that authentic vib. Beautifully fresh coriander with pickled carrots, thinly sliced pork, crusty baguette roll, heaven.
The coffee also looks incredible with traditional slow drop Vietnamese style and condesed milk coffees, didn't get time to try but amazing. Highly suggest having a sandwich and taking it to the beach.
J. A.
I had a lovely meal here - I would highly recommend the Pho. Will definitely come back!
C. F.
Really good pork banh mi! Can’t wait to come back and try the pho
E. L.
Solid Vietnamese fare near the rail station and the lanes. Also dog friendly which is a big plus!
A. M.
Best Pho in town. Very affordable prices. Authentic. Lovely owner and staff.
R. T.
Possibly the best place in Brighton. The pho was delicious. Can't stop thinking about it.
V. S.
After reading some of the negative reviews i was somewhat concerned about getting some takeaway/delivery.
But those bad reviews all sounded quite "salty" and from what I tasted they're completely off the mark. We wanted to support a local business so gave it a try, very glad we did.
I had a salmon and prawn phorito and it was a lovely and tasty, would recommend. Shall be looking forward to dining in once we can.
J. C.
Excellent Vietnamese cuisine. I've been eating here regularly for 2-3 years now and I still love it. Whilst the food does take a bit of time to come, when it does it is exceptional. Moderately priced, a pair can eat for £25 pounds which includes starters and is for the large portions. The staff are really friendly and helpful. If you're eating in you can bring your own alcohol too, as none is served on site.
G. R.
Fantastic little place. Great value Vietnamese salad which was beautifully fresh and full of flavour. Service isn't fast as everything is freshly and individually prepared, but it's friendly. And the food is well worth the short wait.
It's on a busy street and the name might imply it's just a regular cafe, but don't walk past it if you're looking for a great lunch option.
P. A.
Had delivery from them a couple of times. Arrives hot and nice Vietnamese for in central brighton.
Only feedback is that there’s no need to add lettuce under hot food takeaways!
S. L.
Nice little place - I try to get a Pho here whenever I’m down in Brighton. I’ve tried Pho from multiple places but this one tastes the most authentic - really similar to ones I’ve had in Vietnam.
Also the vietnamese style coffee with condensed milk is great 🙃
T. M.
Cheap and cheerful. Excellent pho - noodle broth. Dishes come in a number of different sizes. Great brutalist concrete ceiling - I think they've just removed the ceiling tiles to be honest.
C. N.
Loved it. I always end up forgoing most of Vietnamese menus as I love a steaming bowl of pho so much. What's great is you can order any sized pho, from a small £2 to a massive bowl. Meaning that you can order other things from the menu too!
They also have the most gorgeous baby.
S. F.
I needed a bite to eat before catching a train and I was more than pleasantly surprised by this understated but delicious place!! Will definitely be coming back when back in Brighton
M. Q.
Love this place. Tasty, fresh affordable food. Very chilled. Lovely and helpful staff.
V.
They have the best pho. The soup is amazing. Simple but great!! Personally I think their food is the closest to the actual Vietnamese food. Coffe is small but good. Also it is great to be able to choose the portion size. I 100% recommend as the hungover breakfast 😉
H. S.
One of the most underrated places to eat in Brighton. Yes it's not much to look at from outside, but the food here is made with pride and served with a genuine smile. Absolutely delicious homemade Vietnamese food that is great value for money :)
S. O.
Delicious fresh spring rolls and pho. I had the veggie option with generous helpings of tofu. BYO and no corkage charge. Good social distancing and safety measures in place 👌🏻
E. N.
Absolutely amazing food and very good prices for center of Brighton
H. “.
Really good, fresh, quick and cheap lunch spot. The two who run the cafe are really friendly, and service is is always nice. They are also very generous with the loyalty card stamps so it takes no time to get free drinks. The condensed milk coffee is really good.
j. m.
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly owner, genuine Pho! The portions are good, food always cooked really well and never any hanging around.
j. y.
Very good and tasty food. Decent prices for the dishes but also they are quite small. So eventually you might end up spending quite a lot if you are hungry!
Tried their dirty chai and was good!
B. C.
I've been eating here regularly for a couple of years. The queues are long (and getting longer by the week): testament to this being arguably the best-value lunch you'll get at the price in Brighton (most mains between £4 and £6). Well worth the queueing. Welcoming and friendly too.
M. T.
Almost reluctant to say how amazing this place is as dont want it getting any busier lol! Was recommended by a Vietnamese girl I met and she was right.
Prices are so cheap I usually get 2 mains always with a banh mi to take away.
Little bit of a wait for food but I have no issue with that when it's made fresh to order and with so much love.
Always try and pop in when am in Brighton.
D. M.
Great street food ...so pleased to get a bowl of joyous Vietnamese food...and BYO ..You really have to try this gem of a cafe.
J. T.
Incredible pho, best I've had in Britain. (Living in London, I don't say that lightly!)
Really great, friendly service, and a really positive look and vibe to the environment and decor. The prices are an absolute bargain, and if I lived in Brighton, I'd probably go for pho at least once a week there.
Just down from the station so you have no excuse not to go if you're visiting from out of town!
M. S.
Even if you're just in for one of their perfectly made coffees you'll develop an appetite from the amazing smells of delicious Vietnamese food coming from the kitchen area. A cute little café with friendly staff and a good menu.
T. K.
I’m not a fan of Brighton generally, but this little gem always works as the perfect pick me up to finding myself in this run down excuse for a town.
The food is extremely good value and remarkably flavoursome for something so simple. There’s enough choice to not get bored and not so much as to confuse you.
I’ve been coming here for over three years now and the success does now mean getting a table is at times tricky. Very cosy inside but you don’t lose out on the quality when you take out either.
L. W.
A hidden little gem in the lanes. Looks like a pretty ordinary coffee shop from the outside but it's smashing out some of the best Vietnamese food I have ever tasted! Well worth a divert of you are in the area.
D. M.
Love the photos and the ice coffee, Vietnam style. Friendly service, canteen type. Good value too, we go here every few weeks for a pleasant weekend lunch.
K. S.
A small trendy coffee shop in the North Laines. Friendly staff, decent enough coffee, and they also serve Asian food which is unusual. Full of quirky young Brighton types. Unfortunately didn't really do enough to stand out from the many other cafes in the vicinity - I'd certainly go back, but it hasn't become a favourite.
s. c.
I always go there for a nice taiwanese meal. If you like sandwiches make sure that you try the baguette roll with pork and hoi sui sauce. It is one of a kind. It is cheap and fresh made, nothing more to add just very good price/ quality meal.
B. M.
Popped in on a saturday afternoon and ordered the rice bowl with chicken and a Vietnamese coffee. Really liked the atmosphere of the cafe and the food and coffee was delicious. Reasonably priced.
R. G.
Great banmi. But half an hour to make it?
S. H.
Lovely place, very relaxed vibe, excellent pho / rice bowls. Vegan options and take out. Definitely worth a visit.
M. H.
This piece started out as just a coffee shop, and a good one at that. They now sell delicious veitnamese food too. The owners are awesome. They hedge plenty of plugs along the wall of you want to work there. They are pet friendly.
K. m.
Love this place so much, one of those secret food places in Brighton more people should know about. I always have the pho, its super cheap and so fresh.
Great service and always plays great music!
D. D.
Cafe serving Vietnamese food and great coffees. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Gets busy at lunchtimes but quietens down heading into the evening.
S.
This place is so nice! Man I love it. The Banh Mi is what I get when I need to treat myself, but it's nice enough to get every day. Everyone should come here it's great. Handmade + fresh.
T. M.
Delicious vegan pho and curry.
D. L.
Simply my favourite flat white in Brighton & their Pho is pretty damned gorgeous too. Add in great customer service & this place is a winner every day of the week!!
I. K.
Absolutely amazing. Vegan food is incredible
J. R.
Nice soya coffee and friendly staff, chilled atmosphere, not tried the food yet but good range of veggy vegan options very healthy Vietnamese dishes at affordable prices, will coming back here to try the food. Dropped a star for no WiFi.
E.

A. S.
Perfect little place to get a bowl of pho
H. B.
Great pho and really affordable. My friend introduced me and I would never have known it was there but the food was really good.
G. S.
Great pho in a simple cafe setting. Been going here for years and it’s always good. Non licensed but they are happy for people to bring their own booze.
T. E.

L. S.

K. R.

P. Z.

Great coffee stop near to the train station. They use square mile beans. Nice and roomy with free wifi. A regular lazy Sunday stop for me. Also, they accept cards (most Brighton cafe's dont)
E. L. C.
A very small but friendly place. Enjoyed good coffee and really nice curry (their variety of food is phenomenal). Acceptable prices however service can be very slow at times.

I. S.
Superb flat white, superb food and great service
B. T.
The Banh Mi's were generously stuffed, but unfortunately I have to knock a star due to semi stale untoasted bread. To their defense it was late in the day but still toast that bread!
A. K.
Best Bhan Mi I've found in the UK so far. Lovely little cafe with strong Vietnamese influence.

(Translated) The outside looks like a Vietnamese restaurant at all. You need to look at your business. It's okay if you look at the cafe, but the food is average for a restaurant. However, it is very nice to be friendly and, above all, to choose a variety of sizes (S, M, L, XL).
(Original)
