Reviews of Redroaster Cafe

YUM! Amazing food and amazing drinks. It didn’t explicitly say on the menus that all the coffee drinks could be decaf, so there was a moment of having to go out of the way to ask, but delicious.
The food, seriously, so delicious, we were only on a weekend holiday, and we had anticipated coming back a second time, but just didn’t make it! Next time!
K. H.
We came here for dinner, excited to try out some northern Thai food. Everything was quite lovely (staff, interior vibe etc.) especially the ox tongue dish, the meat was so tender and soft 🤤👌🏽
Sadly the food overall was let down by how salty we felt everything was, especially our Drunken Noodles dish . It was unbearably salty and difficult to palate. They kindly took it back and replaced our dish, which came back slightly less salty, but still too salty for our liking. The waitress was kind enough to take it off our bill, which we really appreciated! 👌🏽
I'm sure the restaurant is great otherwise, so maybe it was just our bad luck that we went there on an off day.

Went in the evening (Lucky Khao). Food was rustic and delicious. Definitely grown up food. Atmosphere ' great, but the best part was the young enthusiasm team, both the servers and the chef's in the open kitchen.
BRILLIANT!!

Highly recommend the Full Roaster. Others are okay but not as exceptional. The environment of the shop is fantastic. Hot coffees are amazing but ice coffees need a big improvement. Services are quick and staff are friendly.
Latest visit:
Significantly improved their ice coffees. Excellent service as usual. Full Roaster not as good as last time though, still, Redroaster Cafe remains to be an amazing place to have breakfast.

We went here for breakfast and completely loved it. They have a great menu. Had the Halloumi & Courgette fritters with a poached egg, and spiced yoghurt with greens and let me tell you it was amazing!! My husband had the sweet waffles with coconut cream and winter berries. Equally as delish.
Forgot to take pictures of the food though..but I do have pictures of the chai latte and up in the clouds latte.
The cafe is very lovely, clean and green with a nice calm energy. Can't wait to come back here again soon!

The Redroaster Cafe is the kind of place that not everyone will like, but some will love. Its marmite. I found it a bit too poncey for my liking and the service, when taking orders, was very slow. I didn't eat half of my waffle as it was way too rich, but my partner really liked his, and his coffee too. The people were nice and the cafe had great decor, but again there were just small things I didn't like. Such as the tables being badly wiped, meaning there were crumbs and still hair all over it, and we had to wait for the table to dry. I sympathise, as they were rushing to get people seated, but I would rather wait 5 mins for them to clean, the sit at a still wet and dirty table. Overall, this place is nice, but it won't be some peoples cup of tea.

A really wonderful place with a glorious menu and tasty drinks. Staff super friendly and service quick although it wasn't busy when I visited. The decor is delightful, spacious and pretty plants. There is also a garden area to sit in and some tables out front where I sat with my friend. We ordered courgette fritters with egg and dukka. I also had the watermelon soda with lime and cucumber. Really clean, tasty food and refreshing drinks.
Definitely recommend.

Stylish and airy with some interesting coffee based drinks with cream/ice cream/syrup, in addition to the “normal” coffee of course. Their menu tells you how their coffee is responsibly sourced from Rwanda and in their roastery they provide job opportunities to people with learning difficulties, which is wonderful
C. C.
Absolutely brilliant. Even down to splitting the bill. Some of the best vegan food I've had, the team all seem to get on really well and that really adds to the vibe and ethos on display. The creatives responsible for this Red Roaster deserve every credit.
M. Q.
Nice place for a good breakfast! Staff were really friendly and helpful, seated us despite not having booked in advance

The egg and avocado on toast was easily the best breakfast I've ever had, one of the best meals I've ever eaten even. Incredibly good food. Would give 6 stars if possible.
W. y. C.
Food is amazing, tried the full roaster and crab avo benedict, the bread was so light and crispy, poached eggs were👌. The biscoff coffee and bloody Mary very tasty too.

I've been buying the Redroaster coffee for my home and office machines from a local retailer in Hove and the coffee is really tasty. Today I was invited to a networking meeting with coffee tasting hosted by the well informed and highly enthusastic Kay. I realise now how little I knew about coffee and the origins and dynamics of the product. The ethos of the organisation is truly beautiful and the information gained today was phenomenal. Super coffee and a central Brighton location, its no wonder they've been so successful for so long. Excellent!

Great staff, nice food, good system for paying (makes it easy to split bills yourself).
Tried the bottomless brunch once and we fairly well tended to when it came to the champagne.

Food was tasty but the staff weren’t great… we got there 10 mins late and our table still wasn’t ready for another 5, then we waited an hour for food that we had pre-ordered. Didn’t get the opportunity to order more drinks because the waiting staff were very avoidant whenever we tried to get their attention. Also then got given the bill without asking for it yet and rushed out because they wanted to give our table to someone else because we had run out of time but because the service was so slow didn’t get to order anywhere near as much as we wanted. Was quite shocked when the waitress grabbed and poured one of our guest’s beers into a takeaway cup to get us out the door (not sure if they have an off licence?) and told us to leave while some of our party were in the toilet.

Had a great brunch here. Lobster Club sandwich was unique - a really nice spin on a classic, full of fresh veg and herbs. The restaurant is lovely and light, with high ceilings. Great place to grab a relaxed brunch.
V. B.
My first time visiting this place, and I wasn't disappointed. Besides the modern, open and stylish decor and sunny staff that really helped set the sociable mood, I was pleased with how flavourful our orders were. They were also presented well. My only small criticism is I would've liked my main dish to be a bigger portion, especially at its arguably dear price. Nevertheless, Redroaster has bagged itself a regular customer. I'll definitely visit it again and show it off to friends.

Amazing food cooked by Luke the head chef. The food is exotic and takes your palate to another country. Thoroughly enjoyed everything.
J. T.
Emma gave Amazing service, so friendly and super helpful at all times. Thea was also very helpful
and friendly - thank you both for a lovely my experience at Red Roaster :)

One of the best coffee shops in Eastbourne,
, selling proper homemade cakes on the premises, coffee cake, cherry almond, Victoria spong, Biscof.
Lots more they are absolutely delicious.
If only others could compare. Well done K.

Came here with my girlfriend and we wanted something that was relatively cosy. We were pleased how spacious it was and the fact it offered a good layout. The bar/cafe/Thai restaurant is a good way to entice a varied audience. We had a the 2 for 1 cocktails (well made) and enjoyed a latte. Overall Service was great, and organisation between the staff made it more valuable. Very impressed and will look to bring family in the future.

Best breakfast in Brighton. Friendly staff, quick service and absolutely amazing food. Would 100% recommend the crab and avacado on toast. Atmosphere was great and cafe was very spacious
L. M.
The interior decor immediately takes your eye and it’s no surprise it’s become an Instagram hotspot. The venue looks fantastic and is a really fun environment. The food was good but a bit hit and miss. I ordered king prawn bao buns. The filling was delicious but there buns were thick and extremely doughy - I wouldn’t have said they were “bao” buns. The creme egg dessert was delicious and I really l loved it. Go for lunch with friends but menu needs a little bit of work. Booking is advised as it was extremely busy when we went on a weekends
a. b.
Beautiful, creative menu and friendly staff. Delicious passion fruit fizzy virgin cocktail. Unfortunately the eggs were completely cold and not runny. I got given an icing sugar shaker instead of salt and dusted my savoury brunch with it. 🙈No offers to replace or apologies the sugar was just whisked away off the table. Staff didn’t check how we were enjoying our food. A real shame as this place seems to have so much potential.
s. s.
Lovely staff, very polite and professional. All wearing masks. Food was delicious, as was the coffee. Will definitely be going back. Don’t let the outside of the building fool you as it doesn’t look much from outside but
Once inside it is really modern and fresh.
Y.
Hats off to the chef! Ate here for breakfast was not disappointed, the atmosphere is gorgeous, friendly staff, great outdoor seating creative menu & dishes. Love how it turns into Lucky Khao i the evening.
O. V.
Undoubtedly the best breakfast I’ve ever had.
Scenery, staff, food, company, all 10/10.
6 stars out of 5.
S. J. B.
Great product , I now don't smoke cigarettes because of it . Just make sure you have a 2.4 amp usb charger as it duz not like higher powered usb c chargers
M. G.
The decor is very grammable. The vegan burrito is very nice and honestly the food is fine for the price as well. The atmosphere is good too.
E. G.
Lovely coffee and amazing breakfast! Really tasty and fresh! Beautiful place, beautiful decoration, creative food menu ,amazing & tasty combinations ,love it!! Really good experience in this place.
100% recommended!
We will back soon for sure!
M. W.
The Brunch food was good, the Beef Hash with eggs was tasty and filling. They have a big juice menu, with lots of ‘rejuvenating’ options, some of them are a bit thin on flavour and just taste like a weak cordial drink, bit of a waste of time really. The venue is good, with good music and decent bathrooms.
L. W.
Lovely interior setting, cute little outdoor seating area and yummy food. Toilets could do with a bit more maintenance/ cleaning.
E. W.
Absolutely delicious! Service was a bit slow but the quality of the food more than made up for it!
H. L. S.
love this place so much. such a good location as it's close to many bus stops and the pier, and the interior is lovely!! very bright and modern vibe. had the avocado toast with egg and an espresso martini. loved it all. staff was friendly too! definitely coming back for brunch in the future:)
M. L.
It was early morning and we couldn’t go without a coffee to quick start our day. We walked to St James street and noticed the chairs and tables outside but it wasn’t until we got closer and saw the inside we were pleasantly surprised. Coffee and service was great!
C. S.
I had one of the best Thai meals in my life at Lucky Khao last night! The service was great and the food was incredible! The larb and som tam were so flavourful! Will definitely be going back!
J. W.
Beautiful little spot with amazing selection but painfully slow service at a place not even at half capacity. Visited on a Sunday around 1pm and the staff were busier talking to each other that serving. Huge shame.
R. H.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I tried their crab and avocado Benedict and it was amazing. Can’t wait to try more.
Z. G.
We absolutely loved our lunch today and we all said it was one of the nicest we’ve ever had (and we’ve sampled a fair few!!). Special shout out to Gia because she was an absolute babe and just a generally lovely person :)!! I am a waitress and I hope you all recognise you’re doing a great job because you are !! :)
I. W.
Amazing food and lovely staff overall a great brunch thank you
B. S.
I had the crab eggs benedict and my boyfriend can’t remember what he had (“crispy chilli eggs?”) - they were both delicious along with the cinnamon iced coffee!
We haven’t yet tried their evening restaurant but we like their cafe and recommend you try it too!
V. V.
Super impressed with the breakfast here. Just one man handling all of it in the kitchen and everything was so yummy.
C. T.
Well, that was fantastic!
Food was amazing. Staff are brilliant and watching the all female team working in the kitchen was magic.
G. D.
This cafe is cool and trendy area with a lovely array of different breakfast types. There's plenty of seating with more space upstairs and even a beer garden towards the back. I immensely enjoyed my breakfast, with it being flavoursome and adequately sized, I wasn't left hungry after the meal. I would say this place is better suited to adults, whether in a group or alone (as I was), but children can also be brought along.
A. W.
The food was excellent! As was the service. And on the brunch deal, you get enough mimosas to sink a large ship, so no need to spend any money on extra drinks. Nice place too - we sat outside and you can even smoke there if that's your thing. Highly recommended!
L. S.
Very trendy decor, but the star of this place is definitely the coffee. Opted for their single origin espresso, the Botanical Punk, a naturally processed Ethiopian and it was stunning. Had to buy a bag of this locally roasted speciality coffee to take home with me.
Z. A.
Lovely coffee shop/restaurant. I gave it a 3 star as one of the dishes we ordered, the chicken was not cooked almost raw. We informed the waitress however she only took the plate back to the kitchen after we insisted that we dont eat raw chicken but 5 minutes later she brought it back the same to us. We just ended up not eating it.
D. H.
Delicious vegan options, beautifully presented, and very friendly staff. Gorgeous, modern restaurant. Bit of a wind tunnel, but otherwise great
K. M.
The restaurant is modern style and quite big. It is cleanish but there is a stain on the cup and scraps on the chair. Atmosphere is very good and also service is friendly. They have a lot of variety of food and drinks. The toilet is fancy and clean because there are paper towel, hand wash and hand cream also there is a disposal envelope for women.
R. k.
Great breakfast options. I had the house version of a bacon and egg roll which was with hot sauce and pineapple. Really well made with a really fresh brioche roll and lovely garnishes. Made with skill! Flat white coffee excellent too. Street side dining and top notch people watching on St James’ St. Waitress lovely.
A. K.
Gorgeous place with amazingly friendly people working there. In spite of being very short of staff which I've been acknowledged before sitting down the ambience was very chilled and organized. It didn't even take that long. Well I had the whole day to spare but like I mentioned they gave me a choice. It would have been well worth the wait even if I had been in a hurry - menu looks great with loads of variety and interesting twist in every dish. My eggs Benedict with crab was delicious and refreshing elderflower soda just perfect. Thank you team and hope your tough day went well :)
K. B.
Bam! The best lobster club sandwich ever .. so good. The crab Benedict was also amazing and the cauliflower is a must too! Really nice creative drinks too.
J. H.
Absolutely fantastic place to visit in Brighton. Highly recommend. Amazing food and friendly staff.
T.
I’ve been here many times since it’s opened a few years back. Love this place, the food and drinks are lovely as always.
H. M.
Super friendly staff, cool atmosphere and great food. Make sure you book though as it gets busy.
D. A.
I have lived over the road from this establishment for years. This lunchtime was my first visit in a good 5 of those years. I'd heard very good things recently from friends, and the place looks alive and fresh everyday I walk past. I visited today in the hope of finding a little oasis in the sun serving fresh fruity cocktails for my 'lunchbreak'. And I wasn't let down, I was shown straight to a table in their courtyard and promptly served two stunning Fresh Watermelon Cooler drinks. I wasn't rushed, the place looked great, the drinks were exactly what I had hoped for, and was well looked after by Alice, and a trainee named Aaron. a delight of an hour, and will definitely be back. Service was on point :)
C.
Food was great. I ordered the chilli eggs and it was really impressed at the spice level of the chilli's. The eggs were cooked to perfection and I really enjoyed my meal. My only gripe was that we waited 15 mins before being given a menu and the food did take a while to come out but I would definitely go back!
B. M.
Amazing Food!!!! Amazing service!!!! Recommend definitely!!!! 🥰😎😷
C. W.
Stumbled across this place with a friend and we were glad we did as the food and drinks were so so so delicious! Will be back again!
A. D.
The food was mostly good -- my friends loved their burgers (especially the one that was gold) but I thought the chicken one was not that great and pretty bland. The FRIES however were AMAZING. So much so that we ordered seconds. The coffee was good too. highly recommend. don't forget to try!
C. T.
Lots of unique hard to find creativity here. What can you say about a place that roasts its own coffee? And takes the time to devise one of the most original menus I've ever seen? I wish these food artists luck. Anybody with a solid steel staircase is going places.
M. J.
Lovely pet-friendly cafe. Food and coffee are amazing. It's also a great spot to work from.
B. T.
The breakfast plate was artistic. I dont think it was delicious though but the space was cozy and well designed
S. D.
Beautiful beautiful place! Fantastic Shakshuka! We loved it so much that we have to ask for more bread!
S.
Food is bang, lamb tacos were phenomenal. Bottomless Brunch was very slow to start due to understaffing and a lack of urgency, but was soon rectified after speaking with the staff. Friendly staff, cute garden, great mirror upstairs for a selfie or ten. Would recommend. Again, food was banggggg.
r. a.
Mouth watering menu. The crab avocado Benedict is out of this world. The English breakfast is a bit funky with some strange ingredients and no sausage. Poached eggs perfect.
Very good ambience and service. I can't wait to go back. Booking advised.
K. S.
Great food and excellent service . Highly recommended and worth a visit.
Special thanks to lovely and smiley Gia!
Thank you guys
D. G.
Very tasty salad, coffee soo delicious... one star less because of noisy music!!
A. M. B. P.
We waited half an hour for our order to be taken, most of the menu was not available, they messed up our drinks order, we waited an extra half hour to be served, finally they charged us a drink twice by mistake.
The vegan Ragu and the Fritters were quite good though and the staff was super friendly so I would say avoid busy times, they can't cope
N. S.
Loved this place. We had booked a table for birthday brunch and they did not disappoint us. We tried the chilli eggs, waffles and churros. Everything was delicious. Their menu is very creative and different. Will definitely recommend it.
Good job team Red Roaster!
B. B.
Eliza gave attentive and a personal service. We were never left dry. Thank you.
The venue served gorgeous food. The Thai chicken was gorgeous. My friends vegan ragu was incredible!!
L. W.
Went for breakfast. Told we had to be out by a certain time which is never welcoming. Food took a while ironically. Food and coffee really nice when it came. Waiting staff very friendly and smiley.
G. G.
A+++ Excellent Coffee, good food, very friendly staff. Fully equipped for disabled with wheelchair. It's a good place to relax and chat while eating. The evening dinners are of higher class and excellent. But yet remained decent pricing! For that I recommended.
Also that's where I met my husband the first time and still married after 12 years ❤🤍💯🆒️🎖👍
L. M.
Lovely place, looks amazing and we had the biscoff maraschino which were great!!! Proper indulgence :)
L. C. D.
The overall vibe of this restaurant is great, very cool decor and good music. We went for bottomless brunch but in the end worked out that we would have had to have 7 mimosas each to make it worth the money...
That being said the brunch food we had was to a good standard, would highly recommend the eggs over anything else.
Service was quick and staff were friendly, felt more like a cocktail bar than a brunch place!
G. N.
Best breakfast place we found in Brighton.Went back each morning after finding it. The staff are nice and helpful and the food and drink is great. 5 stars for taste and presentation. Good variety ranging across different categories for everyone. Not to busy in the morning and the atmosphere is very laid back, they even have an outdoor seating area in the back. Try it if you have a chance.
D.
Chic and trendy bar style restaurant with tree covered outdoor area. Atmospheric all round, and spitting distance from the pier. Modern Mediterranean brunch options ie smashed avocado etc. Very tasty if somewhat small portions. Quick and efficient service. Drawbacks: rather pricey and also somewhat spoiled by being invited to leave a tip despite the bill already clearly including service. That old chestnut...
B. N.
Service was great. Lovely place to chill and wind down, helped by the good mix of music. Staff were very helpful with an allergy information question we had. Food and drink was promptly delivered (but not too quickly)! A good range of breakfasts to cater for vegan & veggy. A very pleasant experience 😊
S. W.
Beautiful decor. Light and airy. Great atmosphere. Lobster Baos. Yummm... Perfect for a weekend brunch
D. O.
Brilliant presentation service food atmosphere. Best meal in a long
N. I.
Really good Thai kitchen, spicy!!! Nice staff too
L.
Came here for bottomless brunch, arrived late but the team were very accommodating, especially Ellie, who went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our visit and really made our experience as great as it was! Would recommend, especially if Ellie is on shift!
J. D.
Fantastic bottomless brunch. Bao buns to die for, great cocktails and service was impeccable and friendly. Welcoming and let us stay slightly over our booking time.
Will return again!!!!!!
M. S.
Always a wonderful experience. Great menu - with some classics, but a lot of interesting dishes and flavour combinations. It's always hard to choose what to get! Great coffee. But could do with improving on their cocktails. Most of the ones I've tried have been very sweet.
A. D.
Good coffee and the food gas got better than it used to be. Shame the service doesn't match the improved food as was really slow. Could do better easily
J. G.
Beautiful place with really tastey food. Definitely recommend!
A. P.
Fantastic food, friendly and quick staff, lovely venue.
N. M.
We had brunch, my cauliflower on toast was full of zesty flavour...amazing.
M. A. (.
Extremely humble staff, and the food tastes epic! You pay for what you expect and more.
Try the Shakshuka from the brunch menu.
A.
It looked good but there is nothing exceptional about the "chicken Kiev". Maybe that sums this place up.
H. W.
Hadn't been in years and was really taken with the place. Lovely and light interiors and decent garden space at the back. Staff were busy but really friendly and helpful. The food was great but it did take a while (it was peak time though). Was offered a drink as a sweetener that they kindly made up for us to take away as we left. Staff really were excellent...would definitely go again.
P. G.
Really lovely interiors. The same great coffee and a great soundtrack in the background. Clean bathroom too
C. S.
We loved this place. The sea bass was amazing!
m.
This review is for the restaurant only. Its pretty decent food, service is super slow and, on the whole, really disorganised. They claim that it is authentic Thai and it 'comes when it comes' but thats just an excuse for the borderline unacceptable disorganisation. The people are really nice though and the food is pretty decent.
L. M.
Quite disappointing. Came for a friend's birthday, and while the staff were perfectly friendly, they forgot to bring us half our order until reminded. As well it took forever to bring our food to us after we had ordered, and the staff weren't very attentive- mostly just standing around chatting to each other. Wouldn't go back :/
N. M.
Completely wheelchair power chair and disabled friendly restaurant! Complete with quite big disabled bathroom ♡
The food is amazing and the staff are super accommodating. If you like BBQ chicken and spicy salad this is the place for you. Very different from normal Thai food and definitely worth a cute couple meal :)
R. G.
Great coffee and great food. Worth a visit
C. L.
The atmosphere is great, the portions are very small and service is slow, when my food came out it was cold but i managed to get a refund.
d. J.
Great local restaurant that does great chilli eggs for breakfast/ brunch plus don’t forget their coffee , and the staff are always friendly, but we have a flat next door and they always leave their toilet lights on ! Even during lockdowns...even during holidays...even when there’s nobody about..not a great carbon footprint is it ? #turnthatbloodylightout
R. D.
Lovely food, atmosphere and decor. The lovely friendly staff didn’t pressure us but let us take our time and enjoy. The coconut chai coffee is incredible as was the crab and avocado benedict.
E. C.
The food was really great, I think the batch brew was ground a little fine though. Really pretty cafe/restaurant.
K. P.
Front of house was attentive and friendly.
Veg burrito was amazing.
Dog friendly too!
T. H.
We really liked the food here, the burger was delicious as was the coffee and the staff were really friendly, but the poached eggs on the potato rosti had clam in it which wasn't specified on the menu and led to my girlfriend being unwell.
M. O.
This cafe is MUCH larger on the inside than it appears from outside. Inside it is large, airy with with high ceilings and further lightened by lots of (possibly fake) plants hanging near the roof.
We were here for a working brunch and received no complaints despite taking up three tables with laptops and work discussions. Instead we got attentive service with websites bottles of water.
Oh and the coffee was great too.
S. L.
I just had a brilliant lunch here. The lobster club sandwich was do delicious and accompanied by a gorgeous Rose. highly recommend
B. L.
I had the vegan burger which was very, very good. However, the lost our order so my wife and I had to wait for about 30 minutes for our food. The staff were extremely gracious about it, but it was still a little frustrating. The food and atmosphere was good eno7gh that we'll be back.
G. D.
Fantastic staff who make time to be friendly and extremely welcoming. Also serve a lovely pot of tea.
It's a great space to relax with our young puppy Captain Biscuit - who thinks of it as his second home and definitely loves all the attention he gets from the wonderful staff.
S. D.
Food OK expensive I thought 7 pound bottle Thai beer but not unusual in Brighton. Try it and see wasn't a unpleasant experience
N.
Great food and the best flat white I've ever had
T. M.
Best breakfast in Brighton.
A. B.
Had the delightful providence of wandering into this locally owned coffee shop on Thursday morning when they happen to conduct a weekly coffee tasting -- my favorite Ethiopian yirgacheffe this week. Not only was the coffee excellent, but the owner and roaster were a pleasure to visit with. Added to the experience was meeting the gentleman from Yemen who described some of the coffee culture of that country. This coffee roaster does Brighten very proud.
J. C.
What a breakfast. Didn't opt for the bottomless brunch as we weren't in for that type of day, instead went for the Pink G&T (it looks beautiful) and the standard Bloody Mary.
For breakfast we went for the full English and Chili Eggs. Presentation was on point for both, and the full English was not greasy at all...well cooked and presented.
Very hipster kind of place, and definitely Instagram worthy!
M. B.
Just finished my meal. Wow oh wow, absolutely incredible food - so delicious. Dog friendly which is great. And the impossible vegan burger was the best burger I've had in my life!
H. U.
Maybe the place is a bit too instagrammable and maybe the ambitious food ideas don't always come together as coherently as they should, but the setting is really elegant, light filled, airy and comfy. Plus, the staff are lovely.
M. M.
Best in Town and London.. Italian seal of approval, size of drinks, quality and original stuff!
Edit (Many years later): place looks nice... But sadly they killed the coffee.. the million times I've come here with my friends, talking about the various adventures while enjoying an amazing espresso or hot chocolate.. well those days are gone sadly. I suppose things change! Still going from 5 stars to 4 (actually 3.5 if I could).
R. S. (. a. P.
5 stars for food and fantastic coffee. Lovely decor and beautifully looking place with lots of marble, golden and green elements.
Some of the staff is slow and not well organised. Don't be surprised if multiple servers come to ask you the same question 2 other staff members already asked you.
We were asked to pay twice when we had already paid.
k. A.
Deliscious meal. Lovely ambience

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it's light and airy with its massive skylights and hanging plants.
Tasty and colourfully presented food, decent coffee and friendly service.

A delicious breakfast with an interesting twist on the traditional full English. Gorgeous flat mushroom with herbs and a sprinkling of seeds across the plate. Yummy!
J. P.
Great venue and lovely staff but a little bit pretentious with the food and high prices. Ok coffee.
J.
Excellent atmosphere, food, tea and coffee.
Highly recommended!
T. M.
Great service, great food on the bottomless brunch menu (eggs benedict was delicious) and plenty of prosecco to go along with it. The re-vamp has done the place wonders, really nice vibe running throughout. Will for sure be going again!

Nice place and the best almond macadamia cappuccino 💕
B. S.
Very good food, nice atmosphere! Sit inside is nicer ;)
s.
Delicious food and good service. I've sat both inside and in the garden and prefer eating inside due to the atmosphere.

Sometimes its good - sometimes not. The coffee is great, if it arrives. I was forgotten about today despite ordering once at the till and then again to the waiter who asked about 10 minutes later, and left after 20 minutes as had to get back to work. It is not the first time since the rebrand. As an additional annoyance, the newly renovated ceiling had leaked and a bucket had been placed to catch the water. Unfortunately it had also leaked into a chair which I sat in. So I left after waiting 20 minutes with a wet bum and no coffee. Its close to work so no doubt I will give it another try in a couple of weeks. 2.5 stars.

Excellent breakfast and coffee. Great seating.
Recommend the Poached Egg with Avocado
S. L.
The staff while nice can be slow at times. The coffee remains excellent, best in Brighton in my opinion. Not sure if I like the new interior compared to the old one but at least it's still well lit and feels airy.
F. P.
Such a nice place with high quality coffee! There's also a terrace on the back which is also nice. A friend of mine recommended me this place and it was genuinely worth it
M. l.
I like the new decor of this place, however, in terms of food - I think it is slightly overpriced and portions are quite small. They seem to focus more on presentation of the food rather than anything else. Although the staff is friendly and polite.
C. M.
Without doubt one of the best café in Brighton 👍 a great place to chill out and relax. Staff are superb very attentive to your needs and nothing is too much trouble an absolute joy. Sunday morning full English is a must.👏👏👏
K. S.
Great food & coffee and lovely friendly staff. Everyone there wore masks and hand sanitizer at the door. Great place for brunch.
N. J.
Have heard mixed reviews about this place so decided to check it out for myself. Came here before the restaurant was open so settled for a coffee and a goats cheese salad. From outside the whole place looks great with loads of plants but as soon as you walk in you realise that all the plants are fake which is a shame. The staff very lovely and very helpful. Had a flat white and hibiscus tea. The flat white was good, which you would expect from a roaster and it's hard to mess up hibiscus tea considering it came in a bag form in a tea pot. Sadly attention to detail is seriously lacking. Tea spoon with my flat white was dirty and considering the tea pots are glass and see thru I would've expected the stainless steel tea holders to be spotless but that certainly wasn't the case as they were badly tea stained. Even the actual tea pot nozzle was slightly broken. Another bizzar thing was that there are no allergen information on the menu and you would have to ask about every meal if you had any serious allergies.

A little gem in the back of a busy high street. Food quality. Service excellent .
M. M.
Loved this place, the coffee and food were amazing and the girl who looked after us was so friendly and lovely !
T. M.
Brunch and drinks were delicious, the only downside was they seem to be short staffed and the wait for brunch was an hour.
A.
Nice interior design
Coffee is good
The brownies are freshly baked & melting in mouth 🤤
The staff was friendly
& the most important thing that they are playing calm music in the morning (not songs), so if you wanna relax or focus on your work while you’re enjoying your cup of coffee .. this is the best place
F.
I like this place and come here almost daily spending around £70-100 per week inside but one thing today dropped the star and almost two.
Thursday 9:30pm asked if they were open for coffee very politely and I was greeted by a rude woman on the desk saying "No not open for coffee" in a very condescending tone.
Could benefit by customer service training, also I'm shocked by how rude and condescending the replies are to some people's disdain at the new design. It does not look professional and it scores you no points in anyone's books.

Fabulous space to enjoy a coffee, cake or lunch. The light streams in and the decor is very tastefully done. The kids enjoyed it too. Highly recommend the iced coffee options!
I. V.
Sometimes good sometimes not so tasty. I came here a month or two ago and I ordered the Iced Cinammon Latte (almond milk) - it was delicious and heaped with cinammon! Today I came and ordered the same drink, disapointed - couldn't taste any cinammon at all :(.
Though the drinks can vary I can say that the staff have always been lovely!
D. D.
Nice place, good service, quality produce and a nice garden out the back. Cozy basement seating too.
M. O.
Great and very interesting food.
C. B.
Lovely staff, bright and airy space with delicious tea and pastries, with plenty of juice and healthy options! Turns into a Thai dinner spot in the evening.

The late "Redroaster, Pike and Pine" has personally been a bit of a let down for me. Although yes, it looks great and im sure the food is just as good, it feels more lile they are trying to bring the "big city" vibe with the late refurbishment. Before it was all about the coffee, but I felt a bit let down to notice it seems food is now the primary selling point. Although when i did order a flat white, it was great, but i was told to wait on the side for my coffee rather than being able to sit down, as the tables seemed to be dominated by the customers who would order food. It does make sense given the new direction this coffeeshop is taking, but to me they refubished something which had a true "brightonian" vibe to it, and which was a pleasure to come in and do work. Note: i am talking from a standpoint of comparison to the old Redroaster. Nevertheless best of luck with the new "Redroaster, Pike and Pine"

Surprisingly trendy and good coffee

Eliza was amazing this bottomless brunch was everything being from Birmingham it was a great service! Fab fab food was fab!!
A. K.
I am actually loving the makeover. Also, Erykah Baku is playing. Soo cool. Lovely staff await you but the wait is slow.😕. Yes it's glam and light, but I feel that matches the glitz of Kemp Town too. It feels continental which is nice.
Being a poet myself I do miss the old Redroaster, but the times they are a changing.
It attracts a lovely demographic. The trip hop and jazz is a wicked selection to people watch to on St James Street. Brighton is such a free place.....
I also recommend the Marrochino, liquid nuttiness infused with a deep dark punch. Food looks nice but I am too prudent to spend on food here.
H.
Good coffee, friendly staffs
M. J.
OK food, nice decor and good busy atmosphere. The guy that ‘greeted’ us was rude though and that kind of ruined the experience, probably won’t return.
C. L.
Fantastic bit of brilliance in the middle of Kemp Town. Great, friendly service whether you need a quick coffee for a meeting or a "bottomless brunch" (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday)!
A. L.
Melbourne style brunch coffee house. They've got incredible coffee source and had a great flat white, piccolo there! Fun staff and chilled atmosphere indeed!
D. C.
Lucky Khao dinner was amazing
D. B.
Lovely coffee shop for the caffeine heads. Flat white was really thick and rich and punchy.
Cake looked a little dry, but for a coffee hit - highly recommended
j. h.
watermelon cooler is highly recommended on a nice sunny day sat in the garden! Food was good too!
P. P.
Funky environment, food looked great but don't pop in if you are in a rush. My coffee took about 10 minutes to get made.
S. C.
Great food and very friendly service.
H. D.
Amazing brunch - avocado toast with soft boiled eggs. Great service and atmosphere! Would highly recommend.
P. W.
Fantastic coffee and really nice food. I just wish they had a bigger selection of food!
C. B.
Fab coffee and food, lovely beer garden out the back - one of our fave places!
D. B.
This establishment has had a refurb since my last visit. It's now bright and shiny with a food menu and table service, lacks cake and is not as relaxed as it was.
R. C.
Verry cool place, nice style, interesting food, a bit on the pricier side, but I think worth for the ambiance and friendly staff :)
r.
Fantastic meal with friends food was amazing
C.
One member of staff said they dont know if they did desserts and asked someone else and they said they did reeling off the options. Good atmosphere though and great coffee.

P. W.
Excellent all round. Friendly staff, delicious drinks and food.
J. O.
Lovely place to go brunch and Alice really looked after us
b. s.
When first it opened after the rebrand it came across as a bit cold and uninviting, completely at odds with the "old redroaster". It is however warming up a bit and I actually feel like they want to sell me a cofee rather than being something of an imposition.
K. J.
The breakfast here is amazing, literally spoilt for choice, staff are friendly but the food! I recommend the Benedict! I wish I could cook like this!
j. w.
Amazing! Food is fresh and coffee is the best.
It is probably the best English breakfast you can get.. No cheap ingredients here.
D. P.
Great brunch spot with unique and tasty options. Expect to pay approx 10 pounds but well worth it
H. S.
