The Big Cheese is definitely a must try if you're visiting Brighton! Every grilled cheese is packed with cheese and toppings and served with huge pieces of soft bread. It's a LOT of food, so make sure you come hungry! They make their own desserts and try new ones so that's really cool. I had the cheesecake and it was great! They also make great coffee! Lastly, I met the owner when I ate there and she's a absolutely heart warming! The staff is very friendly. You won't regret eating here!

When I say delicious I mean DELICIOUS! It is arguably the best cheese toastie I have ever tasted and even that is an understatement. Very generous on the toppings and extra generous with the cheeses. I have been back twice since and would say my favourite are The Flamin' Hot and The Godfather. This is the hotspot for cheese lovers and even VEGAN cheese lovers. Will defo go back again! (oh yeah, and you HAVE to try the cheesecakes, they are INSANE)

Really delicious toastie, fresh crunchy bread, very generous on the toppings (especially the cheese 😄) friendly staff and perfect for takeaways. Only 2 reasons why I personally rated it 4 is: 1) it didn’t beat my local fav toastie place 2) the scenery could be a tad cosier for my personal preference Definitely recommended and I’ll most certainly come again!

I stumbled into the big cheese by accident while meandering round the great escape, only to be met by amazingly friendly staff and one of the most incredible sandwiches I have ever eaten. It was so good, I dragged all of my friends back there the day after and they were all just as impressed. I genuinely couldn't recommend them enough and I will be back whenever I'm in Brighton again! (Also, the coffee was amazing!!!)

Best cheese toastie EVER! Everyone MUST go here, such friendly staff and amazing food! The toastie was incredible, delicious sourdough, a buttery crust and the cheese was sooooo good! 100/10 would definitely recommend!

Went in today as I was in Brighton visiting my daughter, and I just want to say, the owner Dannie, was the most lovely person ever and has the best customer service. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a toasty to that standard before! My husbands a fussy eater and even he said he’d come again! Pricing for the quality was great, the coffees were fantastic! The atmosphere of the shop was lovely and all the staff make you feel so welcome! Thank you for a great lunch experience and I’d highly recommend.

Accidentally found this place today. Great options including a large vegan selection of cheeses. Many types of bread gluten free also. I had the Jalepino Popper melt which was just one giant messy cream cheese and Jalepino pepper delight. Go here for your cheese fix.

The best grilled cheese ever! The lady who served us, Cerys (not sure if that’s how it’s spelt) was very welcoming and chatty, and gave us lots of tips for other places to try nearby. Would give 6/5 stars if possible.

Delightful, delicious and dangerously good. After serendipitously stumbling across The Big Cheese, while on a two-day work trip to Brighton I am actively looking for excuses to return. Brighton's Tourist Board should list this place among its top attractions. And the cheesecakes are astonishing too!

Edit: I have now edited my score to reflect that they now have a fabulous menu, including my new favourite the Funny Grill - feta with honey and fig jam. Salty, sweet, not too heavy or greasy, and makes you feel fancy. The crunchiest bread, the gooiest cheese, and the friendliest service. I am a regular! Who doesn't love a cheese toastie? Especially these, which were fab. You. Lous. Gooey on the inside and delicious golden crunch on the outside. And a decadent amount of dipping sauce! Really great variety of cheese too, with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Will 100% be back! The only thing is that the choice was almost TOO much. Would be awesome to see a menu of sort of pre-selected toastie blends! The Godfather for all the Italian cheeses, The Boxing Day for brie, cranberry sauce and bacon, that kind of thing :D
