Beehive is a lovely cafe in Downend. We seemed to have arrived just at the right moment as a large queue formed waiting for tables after we sat down. I had a English breakfast and my daughter has a Nutella freakshake. Both reasonably priced and the fryup was also reasonably tasty. The milkshakes seemed to be the most popular here.

So we found this place due to their incredible freakshakes on Instagram Location It's on the outskirts of the centre in a small arcade of shops. We found parking on the road fairly easy but can imagine that parking could be an issue. I would say overall it was easy to find and was located in a nice area. Interior This place is loved. It is very clear that the team take pride in their workspace. I found the cafe to be clean and the batista area is organised and often cleaned during the day. The decor is lovely and the toilets were well kept. The sign behind the counter is a very nice piece of interior design. Overall no complaints here Service Nice to see a small cafe with a healthy number of staff. I think they get very busy as there was a small army ready to serve. I found all interactions to be pleasant. I wouldn't say they went above and beyond but then again with our order of a freakshakes only it would have been strange for them to do anything which stood out at extraordinary. Food/drink We had the freakshake of the week which was Cadbury. Not going to lie, it was pure sugar and very indulgent. Just brilliant!! I will add that all the real food that they were serving to others looked great (even the toast and jam looked solid!) Price So I feel that this place is on the upper side of value, they are pushing it in terms of price but to be honest I would pay it again as the whole experience felt that little bit nicer than the ordinary cafe scene. What's an extra £1 or 2 for somewhere that you enjoy spending an hour or so! Overall If I lived closer I would pay this place a regular visit. I think it's a little gem in Bristols cafe scene.

Small local cafe offering very nice food and shakes. Unfortunately for us, we had to wait a bit too long for ours, as they seems to have forgotten our order. Could be a bit overwhelming if it happens to have loud company sitting on a table near by. If you can tolerate this, well worth a visit. If you can't - there's the take away option.

Went primarily to treat the grandchildren. They loved the look of their freakshakes. Trying to finish them was a different matter. Way too sweet. NOT for the faint hearted! The vegan freakshake was enjoyed by my daughter. My brie and cranberry toastie was more like a warm jam sandwich, not what I expected at all. The service was excellent though, and everywhere very clean. But a bit overrated in my opinion and quite expensive.

Really cute independent cafe. Lots of vegan options for milkshakes and cakes. I got a salted caramel freak shake with coconut milk. Absolutely freaking delicious 👍🏼

Had always wanted to try this place. Freak shake was amazing! Unfortunately cakes looked SO good, but we’d bought 2 slices in our group and they weren’t as nice as they looked. Such a shame!! Food did look really good but not something we could comment on!

We came here after reading the reviews online and were certainly not disappointed. There were two tables outside but both were occupied so we opted for takeaways. Service was friendly, prices good and there was plenty of choice on the menu. The shake my daughter had looked very impressive! It'll be nice to return for breakfast when we can sit inside again.

Fantastic little Cafè! If you have an indulgent sweet tooth then I'd recommend the Freak shakes! These are not for the light hearted but definitely a challenge. Also great coffee and cake! Remember to bring cash as they dont take cards but there is a bank ATM just beside the cafe. Will be back again!

Great customer service! The Beehive might look like a small business but god does it have quality or what! The prices are very fair and our Freak-shakes were simply amazing! So delicious! They have soya options available too which is really awesome and the whole place is really professional. Wether if it's a family day get together or if you just fancy a little treat then this is the place for you! I give this place a 5 star rating because the whole place is very clean, the staff are friendly and their is a ton of options for both food and drink, even for vegetarians too! They only accept cash though which isn't too much of a problem since their is a cash point literally 2 or 3 blocks down! I will definitely be coming back! 😊

Popular, modern and friendly coffeeshop on the main street in Downend. Good coffee. Panini, wraps, sandwiches, soup, that kind of thing. This place is legendary for its “freakshakes”, I have never quite been able to finish one! Nice little outdoor seating area to the front, comfy sofas inside, tables towards the rear. Accessible for pushchair / wheeled things (see photo), just a small threshold strip at street level.

5 of us went here for my daughters birthday. I spent over £80 on snacks for lunch which included a jacket potato which was stale and tasted like it had been microwaved and cheese that was out of a grated packet. How can you get that wrong??? I wouldn’t go again.

Lovely little place, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Even with covid they are still open and everything is going smoothly and in a safe way. They do ask you to write down a contact number, name and postcode if you are sitting in. There is a takeaway option too. We had paninis they where really tasty and the freakshakes where amazing, i would recommend that if you are going with small children or have someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth to share a freakshake as they are huge and very sweet. We had 2 between 4 of us.

Good setting and good food. Only reason for 4 stars was they don't take card! There's an ATM nearby but, come on guys, the less cash you have to handle the cheaper the management and cards are easier for customers. It's small so reserve if you're going with lots of people. But was a good lunch for my wife and I. Nice jacket potato and nice coffee.

Went in for a freakshake, it was amazing. The service is always friendly and prompt. It is quite small and gets really busy so sometimes it's better to get there early! But it's worth it, there's always a variety of cakes on offer. It is cash only which is the only draw back, if they took card would be 5 stars

Nice and cozy little cafe. The smoothie came nice and cold and was very tasty. Wish they had a loaded jack potato option where they could add pulled pork, beans, and a third option on top, rather than having just one topping. It also needed sour cream and for the cheese to be melted instead of cold and shredded on the side. Other than that, it was an excellent environment.

I regularly take my two-year-old here and the staff are lovely with him. He likes the fish tank and bee theme. Great fruit smoothies (try the Coconana), pancakes, coffee and lunches. Have yet to try the famous freak shakes but they look amazing.

First experience here. Talking to the owner it had just been extended and refurbished over the Christmas (2018) period. Hot food and drinks were of a good quality and the milkshakes are phenomenal! Great place to take kids for a treat.

Stunning little gem on Downend High Street. The atmosphere is really relaxed and friendly with service clearly being a main focus of this little team. My nephew loved his FreakShake and hasn't stopped nagging me to go back! I had a stunning coffee with a panini which was also brilliant! Amazing little spot !!

Lovely little coffee shop with a nice selection of coffees and cakes. Also does super calorific shakes if you are young or brave enough to try them. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Well staffed, but space is limited so be prepared to wait for a table. Prices as expected and a refreshing change from chain owned coffee shops. No speciality coffees like areopress or chemex, just standard espresso machine; but coffee was of a nice quality.

Everything about this place is adorable! The decor is bee themed and so cute and the staff are lovely. The service is fast and the prices are good. The freakshakes are delicious and it's definitely worth a drive to Downend to experience them. My only complaint is that they have no website and do not accept cards (inexplicable in 2016) but this did not cause much inconvenience at all as there is a cash point right outside!

Good coffee, but they do not take card. When you then have to go to three banks to draw out cash that makes it quite inconvenient while getting a card machine has never been easier. Clearly that the ATMs at the banks didnt work wasnt their fault, but if they had taken card there would have been no inconvenience at all.

Too be honest i was looking forward to comeing here for ages when we got there had to wait for 20 minutes after being told its normally about 10 minute wait which i didnt mind because i thought this place was going to be amazing from the reviews i read after we eventually ordered and sat down. The drink i had was the unicorn white chocolate hot chocolate i didnt think it was really value for money as it was verry small (tea cup as sauser)wouldnt recommended anyone got this.
