Reviews of Cafe Revival
H. F.
It was a really cosy place! We ordered flat white to sit in, this window view was awesome! The coffee came in super hot and hv a nice aroma as well!
D. E.
Wandered in here from my Hotel across the street where the Breakfasts are probably pleasant enough but ridiculously expensive. I had a full breakfast for £7.00 in the Revival and I have to say it was one of the best fried breakfasts I have eaten being both plentiful and well cooked. The staff were pleasant and the ambience upstairs very nice. Heartily recommended.

This is a delightful little squat in a historical part of Bristol. Though I once had a bad experience involving feta cheese here, I overcame my initial reticence to revisit and was bountifully rewarded by a delicious stack of pancakes, laden with the fruits of the forest namely: bananas, blueberries and a healthy drizzling of maple syrup.
The pancakes were one of the most exquisite kinds that I have experienced yet in England. Fluffy, soft and with a lightness that is balanced out with their 5mm approx. depth each. Gorgeous.
After such a delightful experience following the previous travesty, I will be returning for their all-day brunch.
Did I say I would recommend the pancakes? I recommend the pancakes.
Three words: Snug, Bristolian and tasteful.

A Nice Café in a Scenic location' Serves Hot or Cold food as well as Cake and Muffins'..
It's Nice to Grab a Drink and Sit Outside People Watching
T. K. D.
Situated just in front of the Registrar office. Exactly starts at 9am in the morning. Good staffs. Good menu and descent rates.
Must try.
Μ. S.
Good coffee (flat white) and smoothies. I had visited this cafe several times. It really gain my trust! Staff friendly and very careful with covid measures! Single use plates and cups and all of them wore masks. Pancakes were a little bit cold! But I will give another try.
I. T.
Delightful place, good coffee, food menu caters for vegans and carnivores alike and plenty of seating over three floors, including the top floor snug, where it is rumored the toppling of the Colston statue was plotted.
J. C.
Really nice cooked breakfast and great selection of coffee and hot chocolate.
Bigger than it looks (2 upstairs floors for seating) so don't avoid just because you think there's nowhere to sit :)
N. A.
Food was delicious, service with a smile. Reasoning for 3 star being that there were no menus on the top floor and the website was under renovation during my visit so couldn't see a menu online either. Also, would have appreciated a window or 2 cracked open, but this may possibly have been due to the age of the building. Overall, good for a quick bite to eat.

We loved the place, I like that there is a genuine felling of the old coffee house, is really cosy inside. Just a shame that we are served in carboard cups and not conventional ceramics. But I understand it may be impractical as waiters have to go up and down the stairs.
H. M.
An eclectic cafe with great quality food, deserts, and coffee. The staff was very welcoming, attentive, and went out of their way to give us a great experience. Loved this place!
A. R.
Lovely staff and interior. Food wasnt up to much. Cold and overcooked. Upstairs was very cosy and relaxing.
k. k.
Great Coffee☕️ and perfect location. Colorful coffee cups is ❤️
M.
Beautiful old historical café with a modern twist. Located in a 1780's three story building close to the centre of Bristol. I always find this a great place to stop to grab a coffee. It is close to criminal and civil courts being great to go here and relax before trials.
B.
What a cool spot! Great little cafe that feels homely and serves a delicious veggie breakfast and avocado mash. Not to mention tiramisu mocha and salted caramel latte. Yum
A. S.
We wanted to sit with the laptops, but the wifi was too week on the 2nd floor, and on the first floor there were no power sockets... Other than that the place looked really nice :)
E.
Disappointed that we received our coffees in takeaway cups even though we were eating in. Food was ok but not exceptional. Having said that it was very busy and we took the last table.
D. T.
Service was a bit slow and we had finished our drinks before food came.
But food and drink was good and we sat outside people watching along St Nicholas Street which was fun.
Z. H.
Banging avocado on toast and short black! Would recommend and go again! Staff were helpful and service was quick
C. W.
Fabulous menu. Great for breakfast. Friendly staff. Wonderful concept.
E. M.
Lovely place, from welcome to goodbyes...
I tried the vegan carrot and pistachio cake and it was delicious and finally someone who can make a cappuccino dry! Really recommend it!
K. B.
Amazing light roast latte! I've lived in Bristol for two years and this is hands down the best latte I've had. I hate a dark roast latte, it tastes too sour, fortunately this one is super smooth and creamy yet strong. It tastes like how they make coffee in Italy. Amazing machine, probably cleaned regularly. The bread for the sandwhich was very poor, I would recommend for the owner to reconsider what sandwich bread they use. Shout out to Jackie for the great coffee, I'll come back again for sure.
N. C.
Unbelievably good bacon bap 😁 Nice friendly place.
J. C.
Cute setting
Food and coffee were nice.
A bit of a long wait but you can't expect food to be quick if it's busy! It is how it is and no one died 🤷♀️
Staff were friendly as well
C. F.
Lovely safe outdoor cafe - and very helpful as i only had a card and he only took cash, but he insisted on serving me first, then let me go to the nearby cashpoint so I could come back and pay. it was delightful sitting in the sun by the nails with a coffee and a toastie! lovely morning.
J. D.
The breakfast although lovely, had no beans, (the menu said full English breakfast). Also, when it arrived it was served on a small plastic rectangular plate, (if you could call it that), which was not big enough. I ordered extra toast, and this was put on the same plate. We were given a plastic fork and the thinnest wooden knife. We had to ask for another knife as broke when trying to cut a sausage and used x3 forks as 2 of these broke also. No serviette given. This isn't what I would expect when paying over £26.
C. B.
Great atmosphere, breakfast served all day. Good quality food, great location and friendly and efficient staff.
D. N.
Great coffee ! Alfresco seating is comfortable during spring weather. Good for people watching.
M. C.
Yet again, absolutely fabulous. Home from home and close proximity to Bristol Centre. See ye soon X
W. M.
A genuine little gem in the crown that is Bristol.Quick, efficient service abet with that rushed off our feet look the staff of a popular venue will sometimes adopt at rush hour.Always a pleasant visit and lucky enough to secure the last available table outside due to the favourable conditions. No buskers to add that element to perfection but life is not perfect at this time. All in all a pleasant experience.
H. E.
Lovely food! Quick service! And assistance in locating where we were on a map! Excellent!
M. J.
They should consider turning the heating on (it's January!). Cozy but I was freezing.
C. S.
Great place to enjoy a coffee outside in the hustle and bustle of St. Nicholas St
J. A.
One of the few places that has full fat milk for your latte instead of only semi-skim. Patio to sit outside on a nice day. They take cards.
G. S.
I love this place. This is the only thing I miss about Bristol since moving out of the city. I crave the tuna melt panini. These are to die for. The manager and staff are brilliant.
A. W. (.
Great little spot, stopped in after walking around early morning and looking for a quick bite to eat. Staff is friendly and it's conveniently located.
C. N.
Came in here for a quick breakfast and wasn’t disappointed. Beautiful historic building in a Main Street with friendly staff. Coffee was nice and egg on toast - we had both scrambled and poached didn’t disappoint. Would definitely visit again! coffee weak, over-heated and bland, microwaved croissant that is a soggy slipper served without butter or jam. Man next to us had a panini that looked good. Price very reasonable.
S. L.
Lovely local cafe, tasty food and lovely service. We will be back during our visit.
A. E.
Great coffee and tasty food! Staff are lovely as well :)
B. M.
Nice food and good quality just a shame served in throw away plates and plastic knife and fork
K. K.
Come here to experience one of Bristol's oldest cafe. The service is amazing, and the sitting is classic. Menu can be improved a bit, but overall a very nice place to visit.
L. R.
Absolutely love this independent cafe. Whether taking away great coffee, staying in the main room on the first floor, or getting comfy in the snug to work in a quiet place. The food is always simple and great. It is the only coffee shop I go in the centre as the atmosphere is always so friendly and warm. The building is also amazing, traditional English architecture, lots of history.
R. B. (. R.
This is a lovely place, the coffee is ok. Not good for elderly or less able people as there are lots of narrow, steep stairs (toilets on the 3rd floor) and not much seating on the ground floor. But if you're ok on stairs the staff are nice, it's cosy and the tea and food are good.
D. K.
I was expecting more on this cafe but a bit disappointed that the food was just average as tea also was not special. Prices are on higer side compare to the quality.
J. C.
Went here on a date and at first I thought it was a little weird. We ended up sitting on the second floor because it was busy. Decided to stay and I'm so glad we did. The food was cheap and the portions were huge. Only managed to eat half the panini I ordered. Also the staff were truly lush and the person who served us was delightful.
S.
Delicious hot chocolate! One of the best I’ve had - it’s super chocolatey! Lovely customer service too. There’s a cosy, quiet snug room upstairs and a busy, vibrant dining area on the middle floor so there’s something for everyone.
P. C.
We like to visit Bristol for city breaks and always have our breakfast in Café Revival. It's fantastic! Lovely food, nice relaxing vibe and the staff are really friendly.
B. B.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, their smoothis were top notch too!
I. C.
I've only been to this cafe a handful of times but I always really enjoy it. It's in a fantastic location in the centre of Bristol. There's always seating available. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food and drink is nice too. Definitely recommend!
D. V.
Very cozy café. Ideal background to sip on a cup of tea for three hours whilst you finish your book (I was reading Anna Karenina (took much longer than three hours)). Food is decent.
S. B.
The place is beautiful although the place is an old one. This is where I usually hang out and I enjoy the very relaxing environment. The staff are friendly and nice though I feel that they should improve the flavour of their coffee and food.
R. H.
Cafe Revival is a lovely little place! It was built in the 1780's and the building has been a coffee shop almost ever since. It is a welcoming café with friendly staff and great food. It is a wholly independent café and they also offer freshly prepared business lunches delivered directly. Their sandwich delivery service is emission free as they deliver by foot or a local pedal bike courier. Fresh sandwich & cake platters, drinks, snacks or breakfast rolls - I always get their bacon roll (it’s amazing) with a fresh orange juice.
J. M.
If animals tickle your fancy and you're in the Bristol area then this is the place for you! You have to expect screaming kids (like at any zoo) but everything else is excellent! The animals are clearly well looked after by the zookeepers, and you can see so many! If you have marvelled at all of the animals already, there are many onsite activities to take part in.
R. T.
Came here with a few friends down from London and maybe I was just used to London a lot as I wasn't too happy with portion size, I thought it would have been bigger. I could have done with more eggs and also having the option to have chips. Staff were really nice and friendly, location was amazing. There was also an amazing market on the weekend in the nearby area.
P. D.
Excellent friendly staff and very good food.
P. G.
Excellent latte, quesadilla beautiful with mild chilli aftertaste and falafel wrap extremely tasty. Lovely building and cosy interior. Friendly staff.
C. B.
Delicious and varied menu. Plenty of coffee and chocolate options. Has three floors for customers - takeaway on the ground floor, one for being social, and a cosy quiet room at the top. Old building with narrow stairs, so that's something to watch out for if planning a visit.
A. I.
Loved this place, esp the wraps and hot apple and cinamon drinks. Went there recently to find it had changed owners, no longer served my favourite drink and the food was very generic. I'm hoping they'll bring back the things that made it special or it will loose a lot of its appeal for me. Love the cosy room upstairs.
B. H.
I often suggest this Cafe as a meeting place as St Nicks is so central and I know that there is usually space somewhere on the second or third floor to sit down for a bit in a relaxed atmosphere. The coffee is nice and the cake is great too. My addiction is with the Cheese and Mushroom Melt though - a big, fat, strong-cheddar toasty that makes your mouth water!
J. H.
On a rainy day, walking around Bristol, I was praying for a place that would make me a pot of nice loose leaf tea and the Lord delivered. Plus delicious cake. Also there probably is no god. But there's tea, and they make it nice here.
R. B.
Very nice food. Get breakfast and a chai latte to go, walk over to castle park and have a tiny picnic. <3
G. P.
Feels like a good place to enjoy a chat, very calm, quiet and lot of space in their three floors, coffee and food were ok, nothing to complain. The WiFi was unstable so not great if you want a place to do some work, which was my case.
R. Z.
Very good coffee and service!
M. M.
Amazing atmosphere, great food options and fast WiFi.
S. D.
Food is good. New management are changing prices but it happens. The place claims to be the oldest coffee house in Bristol. So maybe the café is a historic building surrounded by other historic buildings and institutions like the Nails Market and St Nicholas Market as well as the registry and Bristol High Court. It is also central to everything in the surrounding area including castle park, the all saints church which is still being used for worship though the sign says "... ceased to be used..., "The" Harbourside" is close by which also has a lot of character, including ships, theatres and great cafe's. Cafe revival has a lot of cafe credibility.
K.
Quaint little café on picturesque Corn Street, spread over three floors with a cosy 'snug' area hidden in the loft. Charming decor with lots of little gems to discover. The narrow stairs probably aren't too helpful if you have mobility issues, and I found that the staff were equally unhelpful and stand-offish - but worth it to show family from out of town the self-proclaimed 'oldest coffee house in Bristol'.
W. B.
The avocado on toast was lovely, the staff were also very accomodating!
L. R.
Flat white coffee quality was just passable, service (apart from Mark who was very friendly and really made me feel welcome) not super friendly at the cash register, stubbornly refusing any attempts from my side to make small talk. But it's really about the coffee, actually. Just so-so.
T. H.
A characterful independent café in the heart of the city with some reasonable (but not outstanding) ethical standards.
My experiences here have been very mixed: sometimes, you feel really welcome, the food arrives promptly and the coffee is lovely; other times, the food takes ages to come, the tea is disgustingly bitter (I mean undrinkable) and, on one occasion, my lactose-intolerant friend was asked to pay extra to have appropriate milk for his condition (i.e. he either had to drink his tea black or pay more for soy milk -- something the waiter only mentioned after bringing the milk). It may cost the business more to purchase soy milk, but consumer expectations are that they would provide for those with intolerances and allergies, as everywhere else does, or at least provide some warning of a heightened cost.
It's also fair to say that the seating in the top room/lounge certainly needs repairing or replacing. Stools and broken chairs are not cosy, they just offer no lumbar support and make you want to leave.
My main bugbear, however, is that they tout themselves as Fairtrade and as a little, ethical independent but if you have a coffee to go, it doesn't come in a recycled or biodegradable cup. From an ethical perspective, why should I purchase from here rather than from any of the other independents around the city? Fairtrade is fairly basic these days. Café Kino, for instance, will offer you more ethical bang for your buck.
The foundations are there and I wish them all the best, but it needs some refining yet.
A. Y.
I've only had take out, not having had the opportunity to sit in and explore upstairs, but the coffee and food are excellent. Staff are without fail very friendly, and I always look forward to starting my day with one of their sausage and bacon rolls.
A. T.
Lovely cafe, great cake and nice coffee, but had no baby changing facilities, and I had to change my baby on the floor. Staff were lovely too.
J. M.
Love the location and delicious decaf coffee!! But we sat upstairs and it was cold. The heater was on but it was useless and the furniture very old and worn.
S. V.
Great food, great people, great atmosphere. Simply a great place to stop when visiting the area. I have been a few times now and every time it has been consistent. It has earnt my loyalty.
s. c.
Didn't realise its 3 floors. Very comfy, throne-like chairs at the very top. Gradually filled up for lunchtime as we sat there for so long. Nice coffee, will have to try the food sometime.
J. P.
Great cafe serving good coffee and decent breakfast with a good selection of sandwiches wraps and cakes. This cool independent is both better and cheaper than the chains.
J. T.
Great location with several floors, so plenty of places to sit and great natural lighting.
Wide range of teas and coffees, and good looking food (I only ordered drink so can't comment on the food too much) and to top it all off friendly staff.
C. M.
The place itself is absolutely beautiful - a lovely three storey old property steeped in history - but the food isn't great and neither is the coffee. I've had a lukewarm reception whenever I've been here.
D. N.
We stayed a few days in Bristol and had breakfast here every day toast with jam or eggs and the price and quality is very recommended.
Very friendly staff.
M.
Nice cafe in a great location. Food good but looses a star for loud dance music played at 10am. Not great choice while having breakfast. Shame as staff very nice.
H. C.
Beautiful historic cafe. Can be busy, but upstairs is cosy and more quiet. Lovely breakfast, and quick friendly service.
P. B.
Stopped in Cafe Revival for a light snack. While the building is very old and a little tired the atmosphere was welcoming and the food was good and reasonably priced.
D. D.
Good cup of latte and nice place to sit outside especially when the market stalls are out, a very vibrant area.
M. M.
Really great coffee. Lovely and genuine staff. Great location. Never had a bad time of the 10 or so that I've been here.
R. M.
Fantastic jacket potatoes and coffee. Good atmostphere, good location. Jacket potatoes are what keeps us coming back - oversized, loads of filling and piping hot at a very reasonable price. Winner!
S. E.
Always prompt and friendly. Not as pricey as you might expect for the centre.
My husband wishes they offered a choice of eggs other than scrambled ....
R. C.
Beautiful coffee, and a great place to go if you have been pounding the streets or taking a look around the market. Plenty of space to sit, and a lovely atmosphere.
p. m.
A great place to stay for coffee or lunch. The food is always hot with generous servings. A fab cafe in the centre of the city.
F. B.
Surprisingly uncrowded cafe on three floors. Nice coffee and good all day breakfast.
S. L.
3.5 stars, coffee excellent, hidden zone upstairs, though, if you are meeting there, don't sit by the speaker.
M. C.
One of the best coffee in bristol City centre! Always grr service, amazing panini and good croissant. A little pearl in the old corn street!
T. F.
Good vibe, great coffee and service. Would be 5 stars if the breakfast sausages were of a better quality.
S. B.
A nice cafe with a nice feeling atmosphere and good food. It is also fairly well priced for somewhere so central.
L. K.
Really like the atmosphere, food and coffee is decent. Nice "Snug" on the top floor.
p.
Vintage !!!loved it
D. A.
ate about half the nachos, enourmous mountain of crips with gloopy guacamole but otherwise semi edible, music playing was some sort of yuppie hangover music for the up and coming in the tele sales industry, but my 10 year old son scoffed the bacon and egg butty with relish slurping happily to his lemon tango and quizzing me on what the worst arguments i've had with another grown up are. ahh life, it's not all about fancy food. it's the quality of life that counts.
S. N.
One of the best breakfast rolls around (the Rustic roll). Haven't tried the lunch menu yet but looks amazing!
G. M.
Gorgeous food served to the table and in nice portion sizes. Nice atmosphere and an independent cafe as well.
S. P.
Wonderful little place! Nice simplistic menu and well prepared/presented food. Absolutely recommend.
D. D.
Nice. On several floors. Good jacket pots. Too many steps if poor mobility
b. t.
Only used the cafe, as we were a bit late getting there so choice of food was limited, soon served, food well presented and service good
N. K.
Amazing paninis. Very tranquil places to sit upstairs on two floors. Nice atmosphere
S.
Not a great selection and the cafe feels a bit tired and touristy but tge food was OK and got the job done when we needed a quick breakfast.
S. D. L.
The best coffee bar, made in an historical building. You can find a wide range of coffees, smoothies and sandwiches.
P. M.
a funky cafe with good service but their sandwiches are poor. nice coffee and a cool place to drink it though.
J. H.
One of our favourite Bristol cafes with its Georgian charm and excellent coffee and cakes.
A. M.
Had a nice sit down and very nice sandwich while passing through Bristol, Carrot cake was rather disappointing though.
M. J.
Good location at the top of Corn St. Quite a chilled out place with an interesting mix of customers. Toilets were very dirty.
H. L. T.
Like a TARDIS, so much more inside than you expect. Great carrot cake!
D. H.
Lovely breakfasts and friendly service with good atmosphere. We'll be back. Thanks.

(Translated) It is a place with a lot of vibes. Very very cozy. In the heart of Bristol and next to the San Nicolás market. Ideal for a mid-morning brunch. They do not serve alcoholic beverages.
(Original)
Es un lugar con mucho rollo. Muy muy acogedor. En pleno centro de Bristol y al lado del mercado de San Nicolás. Ideal para hhacer un brunch a media mañana. No sirven bebidas alcohólicas.

(Translated) Nice to have a drink if you are walking through the picturesque market of San Nicolas, very small on the lower floor, we did not go up to the upper floors, with only two tables, and despite being closing, he served us with a smile and a desire to please, which we thanked .
Very good coffee, and rich and abundant cakes, of various varieties, for all tastes.
