Reviews of Coffee + Beer
H. F.
We tried their coffee that day, flat white and ice latte again! The blend was extremely great, and really tasted like beer. It’s light with sweet aftertaste, and most importantly, winey taste!!! We loved that a lottttt, definitely one of the most interesting blends we tried here! We will come again for their beer product!!

My favourite cafe in town. A rotating coffee beans and a beer selection you can tell has been been carefully curated. Delicious every time. They also have a cocktail menu! Great music as well so it's perfect to go to do some work, read a book or take a minute to just enjoy some peace. The staff welcome you like old friends, with a great talent for chat and knowledge of their products.

Coffee + Beer are consistently superb. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and skilled. They clearly all take pride in their work and the results are clear to see. In an area full of coffee specialists, to me, this is the standout.
P. C.
Coffee is consistently very good, and they can give good advice to suit what type of flavour you're looking for. Good small selection of pastries. And loads of beers to choose from, many of which I'd never heard of but will be trying again.

Love this place. Coffee is sublime.
If you're lucky you'll bump into my son here. If you do, consider yourself blessed, cos he's the finest person to walk the planet. I love him so much.
M. S.
This is an absolutely great place if you are after some high quality coffee and craft beer. The filtered coffee is brewed with high consistency and Tim that works there is such a great person to talk to.

Consitently producing some of the best coffee I can find in bristol and has served some of the finest cups I've ever had. The perfect spot for filling a specialty coffee shaped hole in your life. Great coffee great people great place.
R. R.
Very pleasant staff. One even asked a young lady to move up so that we could sit down. Good coffee and biscuits.
S.
Excellent service 5* the guy offers suggestions, samples and even a change in coffee been. It has Wi-Fi access and some adequate tables for laptops, It's also clean and has a tranquil layout.
T. L.
I walked in here wondering if it's too late for a coffee or too early for a beer.
Story of my life...
But great place. Easy listening music, great coffee and purchased some pod coffee for my Nespresso.

Ask most people to list their favourite hot and cold drinks and it’s likely two familiar candidates will come out on or near the top… coffee and beer, anyone? As a fan of both of these esteemed beverages, we thought a visit to Coffee + Beer was in order. Positioned on a pedestrianised section of Cotham Hill in Bristol, this espresso bar/tap room combo opened in 2017 and is now firmly established as a popular local hangout.
As we made our way in and walked towards the counter, we were greeted by a warm smile from the barista. He was more than happy to discuss the drinks on offer and seemed to have an extremely high coffee IQ. After some deliberation, we plumped for a latte (shock) and, fearful of being judged (it was 8:30am...), limited ourselves to having a good look at the wide array of craft beers. We took in our surroundings while we waited: the interior of Coffee + Beer felt clean and modern with a decent amount of comfortable seating at the rear. There was also a small decked area outside the front that looked to be a nice place to sit and watch the world go by.
The beans used on the day had been roasted by Square Mile but we also spotted a few bags of local Bristol favourite Triple Co Roast. The coffee lived up to our expectations (and the barista's description!): richly flavoured with a smooth, creamy body. It went down a treat and left us wanting more.
In summary, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the ambience is just right and the coffee hits the spot, so you should definitely think about checking out Coffee + Beer when you next need a morning caffeine hit. Even better, the beer gives you an excuse to go back in the evening!

Lovely place. Great to be able to go and have a Coffee or Beer. Would definitely recommend this place.
N. B.
Very good coffee, nice craft beer selection, and friendly service
M. B.
It's great! Great coffee and perfect craft beer on tap.
G. J.
Great little beer shop with a few beers on tap. The guys working there really know there beer. It's a nice place to stop off for a couple now Cotham Hill is pedestrianised.
M. S.
Had a nice chat with the owner, very knowledgeable about coffee and had a free sample of filter coffee before buying some coffee beans.
A. J.
I dropped in here on a whim whilst I was out and about. Nice coffee and a good Cinnamon swirl, had a pleasant break sitting outside the cafe now that sections of Cotham Hill have been closed to traffic
T. P.
I usually judge a great coffee shop on their choice of grinders and espresso machines - although this is never a guarantee of coffee quality. Fortunately, in this case - coupled with a friendly & knowledgeable owner and great selection of coffees from the best roasters in the country - it is.
(Nice beers too!)
S. Y.
We take our coffee seriously and I think Coffee + Beer is one of the best coffee places in town. Always a wide variety of single origin beans available to brew. Plus Dan is a great host! Highly recommended for coffee lovers.
L. B.
Very wide variety on offer. Great to see there's local breweries and roasters available too. Really personable guys running the shop, and they're more than happy to help and talk through various options. Would highly recommend.
J. R.
Great place to drink and buy coffee to go (beans or ground). A nice place to study, work or meet friends/colleagues. The treats are nice too. Owner knows his stuff! At the office we regularly chip in to buy a common bag of beans there and have it ground on the spot. Very happy with the selection available, best value/price compared to others around.
C. M.
Not the cosiest spot, but excellent coffee. Impressive range of tinned beer.
S. L.
Honestly up there with the best coffee in Bristol. Great beer selection. Dan - the owner - is a gent as well.
Ignore the Costa round the corner and get a proper drink instead!
G. P.
Great selection of beers and cracker of a coffee too. What a place!
A. B.
Super minimalist but nice space. Good but small selection of craft beer. Very much enjoyed the can I went away with. Drink in cost is a bit much and they don't seem to have evening hours at the time anyone I've spoken too would like to go (Edit: I've been informed they now have later hours). However friendly staff and feels like given a bit more popularity and better hours could bloom nicely.
I. F. L.
As a business, we are blessed to be surrounded by other great businesses who offer brilliant service and products. Coffee and Beer is definitely one of them. They have a large selection of different local coffee and local craft beers and offer tasting evenings.
Dan is also a great guy, very knowledgeable and very welcoming. A must try for any coffee goers!
H. F.
Working in close proximity to an absolute gem on Cotham Hill makes a working week all that much easier. Fantastic coffee brewed by Dan from locally roasted beans, whatever your palate Dan has the answer. An offering of high quality sweet treats by local producers including a personal favourite cinnamon bun makes Fridays a special day.
R. J.
Huge variety of beans for a decent filter coffee, easy parking near by and reasonably priced.
With minimalist decor inside and friendly staff, I'd definitely revisit for a filter in tbe future, only minor comment is that there's alt of 'space' but not alot of seats.
C. C.
These guys are serious about their coffee and you can tell, not tried their beer yet but if it's anything like their coffee I'm sure it's good. They also serve plain vegan croissants!
J. M.
Absolutely delicious coffee, very friendly owner. Terrific selection of beers to take away including some local brews on tap. Can't recommend highly enough.
J. R.
Great coffee! Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the selection of beans and suppliers. There is something for everyone here at a range of prices. I chose a more expensive filter and wasn't disappointed; I also learnt a lot in the process. Looking forward to heading back and sampling the interesting selection of beers!
F. W.
Truly excellent independent craft beer and specialty coffee shop. The barista and presumably owner is well versed in his chosen profession and it shows. Lots of enthusiasm combined with knowledge lends itself perfectly to the way the shop is run.
We tried the excellent Red Brick a 50% Columbia 50% Ethiopia bean roasted by Square Mile.
The barista capably crafted us two excellent espressos that had the perfect "crema" and a delicate balance of flavours.
Excellent choice of machinery too, the shop features a nifty Marzocco espresso machine. Great range of local craft beers on tap and available to take away.
M. T.
Great coffee, awesome staff and some fantastic music. Surprisingly cheap for the quality served, various options for your coffee make it that more personal. It's my kind of place, I hope it's everyone else's too.
A. S.
Great selection of beer and coffee. Delivered promptly helping me get through these hard times. Highly recommend a visit to the tap room for some great fresh beer to!
N. W.
Coffee had a lovely flavour and the place itself has an excellent layout and environment for dong some work on a laptop. I felt rather let down in that the coffee was barely hot when we recieved it and was lukewarm after only a very short period of time.
W. H.
This stacks up to the other big name independent coffee shops in Bristol. They guy who served me really knew his stuff about coffee (and beer), will definitely be going back. I had a takeaway flat white which was really well prepared.
A. S.
The coffee is just THE BEST! I loved my Flat White. Dan, the owner is very knowledgeable about the coffees and beers on sale to drink in or take away.
E. R.
Super quick delivery to my friend for his birthday in lockdown; great coffee & beer posted to his door, with a birthday note as I requested, really made his day. Thank you so much for such great service!
M. D.
Popped in this morning for a coffee on the way to work. Really, really good. £2.60, well rounded and milk at the right temperature. Briefly chatted to the guy running the place and he did everything but the plastering himself! Obviously a labour of love and I'll definitely be back, you'd be a fool not to stop by!
M. L.
Excellent coffee, really friendly and informative staff who talked me through the fantastic range of coffees available. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Great value for money.
H. B.
Beer nice, very light roasted coffee, not to my taste but others might like it

Great selection of Beer, as well as Coffee & brewing gear, and always top tier service without overdoing it.

Now even coffeeier and beerier thanks to its outside seating area on the newly pedestrianised street. I recommend the coffee and the beer.
A. B.
My new favourite shop; haven't tried the coffee yet but the beer offering is wonderful and a great addition locally.
