Reviews of Mud Dock Café
G. G.
I’ve been wanting to go to Mud Dock for ages and it did not disappoint! The interior and bike theme is awesome. I had the chickpea salad which was great (although it could have had more hummus) and friends said the bean burger was fab. Thumbs up all round 👍👍
K. D.
Lovely staff, extremely accommodating, and super tasty food.
We came here for breakfast twice, and and it was excellent. We were very impressed with the gluten free pancakes (as standard!), and wouldn’t have known they were gluten free if the menu hadn’t said. Lovely outside terrace to sit out on if the weather allows, but inside lovely too. All round fab brunch spot 👍🏻
I want to mention the staff again - excellent friendly welcome and service with a smile.

I really enjoyed looking around here on a Tuesday morning.
I like the layout and the fact that there are so many independent shops selling locally produced products.
My favourite 3 shops were the florists, the deli which was a cheese lovers dream, and a gallery with art from local artists.
I asked the owners of the deli and the gallery if I could take photos.
M. P.
Great service and really nice home-style food. The serving staff were attentive and very welcoming. While the menu may be limited, it still manages to be good on variety with some great vegetarian and vegan options. I'd come again, no problem. Thank you.
D. W.
We enjoyed our drinks at Mud Dock especially after a day's sightseeing in Bristol. Great views across the dock, particularity lovely as the sun is setting.

I have written a review of the Mud dock but Google doesn't allow me to post enough words to do it justice so I am unable to share my views, which is a shame.
However my full review can be seen on fatboysbreakfast.wordpress.com
I would suggest the Mud dock is worth a try but there are some Caveats not least the access, but I did not write a negative review, far from it, we enjoyed our visit. The staff were great, the venue interesting and the food was OK if a little predictable.
Sorry I cant be more help. Come on Google make more space!

I really love this café. The interior is charming and cosy, while the balcony has a fantastic view of the river and harbourside. Good food and drinks, with local beers available, such as Moor and Bristol Beer Factory, as well as a German favourite of mine, Fransiskaner. The coffee is good too, with proper flavour and no bitter burnt flavour. All of this with an eclectic mix of interesting, atmosphere-boosting music makes for a lovely experience. I have noticed that service is not as quick as it used to be, although it's still friendly. Perhaps low on staff? I don't think it should stop you visiting, but it might be tricky if you're short on time and it is the reason I'm not giving 5 stars
M. A.
This is a very good breakfast spot in Bristol! It's got a nice view of the docks and the staff are really helpful. The food is also great. Would definitely recommend a visit!
J. K.
Really nice cafe bar on the waterside. Got there too late to be able to order hot food but coffee and cake was good, and reasonably priced. Even better was the bike shop downstairs - I was in heaven 😂
B. T.
Food and drink 7/10
Service 7/10
Decor and atmosphere 9/10
Service speed 8/10
Cost 6/10
The best: Amazing views and decor
The worst: Food isn't bad by any means but it's not much different to what you could make at home.
The lowdown: Come here for the views and the setting. The food is standard brunch type food, not bad by any means but it doesn't stand out.

Whether you come to Mud Dock Café for morning coffee, a leisurely lunch, afternoon tapas or a romantic dinner, we promise a relaxed atmosphere, unrivalled views of Bristol’s harbourside, and – of course – fabulous food and drink.
B. R.
Awesome little place with fantastic breakfast and picturesque views. For the warmer days there's a balcony that you can sit out on to either dine or drink. Wish I'd visited sooner but will definitely visit again.
A. S.
This is the best wedding venue in Bristol! Beautiful views, an amazing building, quirky interior, spectacular food and by far the best staff & service I have ever come across.
The whole Team went above & beyond on our special day. A year later we still hear what a fantastic time our guests had and how it's the most beautiful venue with such incredible food.
Joao from the Mud Dock helped us throughout the whole process from booking our reception, to arranging the food tasting, organizing & setting up our decorations & was even there on the day to ensure every thing ran smoothly. Joao even saved me some of my wedding cake & gave it to me the next day, as I didn't get a chance to have a slice on the day.
The Team went the extra mile decorating the chalkboard they had on the wall, to putting our seating plan on a easel and even putting up a marquee on the terrace due to the rain! So much thought & care was put into our special day, I couldn't have done it better myself (And I'm a perfectionist).
The food was amazing from the tasting, to the canapes and the meal on the day. We still hear how much people enjoyed the food & how full they were but wanted to visit again. They accommodated, remembered and dealt with a lot of Gluten free, Vegans, Vegetarians & Kids without breaking a sweat.
It was everything we could have hoped for & more. We can not recommend the Mud Dock or it staff highly enough & we just wanted to take this chance to say a massive thank you!
Big love,
The Gordon's

A great cafe and bike shop. The bikeshop staff have great knowledge and experience. Great food upstairs in the cafe.
R. M.
We booked Mud Dock for a hungover morning-after our Wedding Brunch with our friends and family in Jan 2022. They were fanstastic, very happy with the large booking, great food, and very accomodating of our children of various ages. Plus a great way of showing off Bristol to those from out of town. Highly reccomend!
W. T.
Solid brunch choice with a great view. Our food was delicious but there was not a lot of options on the menu.
L. H.
Lovely place great staff good choice of beers....
D. P. M.
Amazing big veggie breakfast and granola. I would highly recommend and will visit again.
J. Y.
Haven’t been to this place for several years… It used to be a funky cafe / bike shop serving tasty good value food and servicing two wheeled vehicles, no more.
Firstly the vibe is dated, same bikes hanging in the roof, same droopy plants, this place had definitely rested on its laurels.
Secondly the food… we only had breakfast but it was pretty disappointing. I had the meat which was dull, over cooked and had many many small not very nice mushrooms.
The mrs had the veggie that was even more underwhelming, it was accompanied by a deep fried croquette which looked and tasted like a breaded deep fried log.
Sorry to be a downer but I was hungry for an amazing breakfast and it defiantly wasn’t that..
W. Y.
Great atmosphere elevated spot on the waterfront. Outdoor seating was great. Decent brunch options and generally a great spot to grab a light bite.
O. P.
Been here twice and both times the service is great, the cafe is so nice inside and out and the food is SO GOOD! if you're ever in Bristol you have to try this place. Amazing veg/ vegan options as well 😁( I've tried both meat and vegan dishes)
J. H.
Fabulous dinner at the café. Food was super tasty, service was excellent and the venue was spot on. Definitely recommend. 👍
R. N.
Excellent setting on the balcony overlooking the harbour. Great staff great service. Excellent local beer and awesome food, catering for everyone including this fussy vegan. Highly recommend the turmeric cous cous and broad bean falafel salad and also the hummus was amazing.
J. P.
On top of the bicycle shop the cafe is not that obvious at first but its worth climbing the metal stairs. Coffee on the verandah over looking the river or inside is lovely. Great cake and generous portions of food. Helpful staff and a friendly atmosphere.
H. C.
OK breakfast but the shakshuka is not a shakshuka. It’s a bowl of chopped tomatoes with two fried eggs on top.
j. r.
Went on a rainy day and we were so happy we could bring our dog. Food was good, tea was good and we loved exploring the bike shop after.
Loved they put the ketchup in a water bottle - cute touch.
S. D.
Fantastic place for a breakfast, wide range and food always fantastic. Great views overlooking the river.
Does get very busy - so best to book
R. H.
Delicious food, atmosphere and fast service and an outdoor terraced seating with a great view of the historic floating harbour.
Veggie/Gluten/Dairy free options available.
Current menu is available on their website.
H. T.
Great Breakfast attentive staff ....bit cold sat where the cold came up from the door otherwise perfect
M. B.
Beautiful cafe with great food and service with lovely views over the river
J. C.
Great food, dog friendly, lovely staff, definitely a go to place.
S. A.
Beautiful cafe good coffee good beer..
D. F.
Delicious food, I had the chocolate brownie with ice cream desert. Staff friendly and helpful too.
S. T.
One of our favourite places in Bristol. Great food and a fab location.
L. G.
I've always loved Mud Dock Cafe since it opened many years ago. Good food, great location, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff - I must go back soon!
M. T.
Great cafe in superb location at Bristol docks, lots of steps to roof terrace. Food is very good, gets busy.
D. L. “. L.
I am just so happy. I have walked passed this cute Cafe for years and my sister took me. I'm extremely excited, really good rustic healthy food. The Gin Is amazing. We had Gin spritz's during our visit.
K. W.
Great place overlooking floating harbour, good choice of beers, food / burgers looked good but didn't eat here .
A. G.
It's okay. A bit expensive and the menu doesn't seem to change much, if ever. Great view though
S. B.
Chic, modern bar/Cafe with a rustic feel and bicycle theme (it is above a bike shop!!! )
Food tasted great and was perfect portion size for lunch. Decent prices for the area and had a great time. Was well looked after by the friendly staff. Would recommend the lamb burger (see picture), it tasted great!
N. R.
Great buzzy spot for coffee and brunch. Tried as on a Sunday, both of our dishes were very tasty. Friendly and attentive service.
C.
This place is great! Really nice decor, good views from the outside balcony! Perfect on a sunny day.
The staff are really friendly and the food is really nice! Some nice beers too. Would definitely go again!
A. B.
A relaxed atmosphere with good beers and a great brunch menu. The outdoor terrace is a big draw on a nice day. The service can be a bit hit and miss.
A. D.
Excellent venue for a wedding reception or party. Good food, attentive staff and a great location.
p. h.
Lovely food, taste card accepted when pre-booked and card mentioned. Staff were very helpful and friendly, especially our waitress who looked after us wonderfully
S. C.
Great food, breakfast pancakes were perfect. Staff were pleasant and social distancing measures in place.
R. S.
Excellent food and service. The location is great.
A. J.
Good breakfast at a reasonable price. Nice coffee. Be careful to book in advance as walk-ups are turned away even if tables appear free.
H. W.
Cycle themed cafe with bike shop underneath. It's called a cafe but it's very close to a casual restaurant. I've only been here for drinks but they do serve food. Plenty of seating inside and a nice covered terrace on the first floor overlooking the river. Would recommend booking at peak times.
H. R.
3.5 stars. Tucked away in a nice spot and a bicycle shop downstairs to get your bikeporn fix. Nice relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a bite to eat. We were seated on the covered deck was was very pleasant. Ate breakfast and the food was ok (not bad but not amazing at the same time). I ordered the shakshuka and it was like a fried egg had been cooked and put onto a tomato sauce dish. Another in our party had the big breakfast and that sounded better.
M. A.
Great location overlooking the floating harbour with parking (not free) right outside. Pleasant staff and an interesting menu ..... and a good bike shop downstairs to browse if that interests you.
M. D.
We stopped off here on our way into the centre and had a really amazing breakfast (pancakes and a full English breakfast). The staff were friendly and attentive and it was such a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely go back.
a. f.
Delicious pancakes with nutella & bananas. Great coffee, funky place
F. 2. H.
I Iove the vibes of this place.
I had a bowl of chicken shawarma and was delish.
Also Alfie couldn't stop watching the steak.
Highly recommended.
J. D.
Good location with view over Bristol floating harbour. Good food, pleasant staff. A bit pricy.
S. T. (.
Great cafe even if you are not a biker. Super cool atmosphere
A. J.
Really lovely place, nice atmosphere, cold beer, nice juices and amazing decor. Nice river views
J.
Great place if your looking for a view. Food is good. Good veggie/ vegan choices
R. P.
The garlic bread with cheese is why I gave 4 stars. I was disappointed there wasn't a chicken burger on the menu (I don't eat red meat or pork) however the staff were pleasent and the view on the deck was really good.
D. B.
Interesting bar, nice decor. Outside seating overlooking the river. Food and drink choices are excellent and service is fast and good quality.
G. I.
Really nice view, friendly stuff and amazing coffee. I have decided to spend my last morning in Bristol after being a student for 4 years here!
P. R.
Great food, nice and airy to suit these COVID times
T. H.
Love it here! My new favourite place.
Beautiful balcony with a view of the river
Delicious homemade cakes.
A. H.
Very nice, but had an hour slot for table, we were asked if we wanted more drinks and ordered a bottle of wine, without being told we only had 10 mins left for our table. So were brought plastic cups and had to finish it on a bench in the car park 🙄 so at £20 a bottle to drink on the premises, it's not really 😐
J. C.
Went for Saturday lunch. A busy vibrant place. Goid food at affordable prices. Efficient team. Chairs slightly uncomfortable . Nice chunky tables. Limited space.
C. L.
Loved the Mud Dock café! Will definitely be back for the brunch! Xxx
N. S.
Friendly staff, tasty coffee and good food. Well spaced out for social distancing. Would recommend to those who want a view of the water, boats and not near the hustle bustle of the city.
D. M.
I came here for my birthday. Made my day. Service was excellent, food was outstanding, and overall it was amazing. Firm 5 stars.
L. W.
Good service from the start. Food arrived quickly. Had 4 breakfast choices and couldn't fault any. First time eating brunch here and very impressed.
J. B.
This is a great and unexpected city oasis with a covered balcony and iconic view of the city. I had to wing it a bit as a vegan (just ended up leaving off the meat and requesting extra mushrooms on the breakfast). The coffee was good but given how much this mid priced place has going for it I was dissapointed not to have a proper vegan option. That would have easily won it the full five stars.
A. D. G.
The terrace is lovely to sit on. However their cocktails were anything but impressive
S. S.
Lovely setting on the river, good food, friendly staff enjoyable lunch here
L. C.
Go for the view, stay for the great selection of draft beers. On a sunny day, the outside seating area is lush!
Z.
Amazing food. Lovely outdoor eating area overlooking the harbourside. Firm favourite for breakfast.
L. J.
Absolutelt delicious breakfast, great service and a great location. Really recommend!
J. S.
Lovely food, service and dog friendly
G. P.
Great night. Food fab. Staff brill. Good atmosphere.
P. G.
Great meeting place, really like the industrial building.
A. M.
Nice food and we'll presented.
A. W.
Good for brunch. Nice atmosphere. Reservation advised.
S. S.
Great view and atmosphere, but the fish was tasteless and overall the fries were probably the best part of the meal.
G. M.
Slow and forgetful service, chocolate cake very average. Looks great but let down by staff and produce.
f. R.
Nice view, food is ok. The seagulls are civilised enough to wait until you've finished before taking their share.
E. V.
Recently attended a friends wedding reception here and it was perfect!
The food was delicious with great vegan options, drinks weren't overpriced, the layout worked great, the decor was lovely and the staff were friendly.
The weather was hot and sunny on the day so the large terrace was amazing.
O. G. B.
Splendid food and location. Love the food specials they do, everyday they do new dishes at an excellent quality.
The service is however disappointing. Includes generous waiting, blasé attitude from the waiters and proactive effort from the customer to get the bill/ order/ get a table. This happened before especially at busier times.
All in all, it’s a great restaurant with top quality food.
C. N.
Fabulous!
T. H.
Pretty cool cafe with a massive outdoor terrace and big bright windows that let all the sunlight in. It's above a bike shop and there's cycling related stuff everywhere. The menu is varied and the food was good. As Arnie would say, I'll be back.
B. G.
Awesome little place. Easy to find, pleasant staff and fantastic selection of drinks. Nothing more to say!
H. M.
This was our first outing post-lockdown and it was a very smooth experience.
Hand sanitizer upon arrival, tables spaced apart and all staff wearing masks.
The food was epic, and in general the whole experience was perfect.
We will certainly be returning for more amazing food!
Thank You
C. C.
Small cafe, great location, good views, great staff. Portions are slightly smaller than expected, but sufficient enough.
S. T.
Excellent breakfast, quite a wait for the food though. (60mins) Nice views of the river whilst waiting.
R. P.
Really liked Mud Dock. Food was good quality, interesting and not overly expensive for such an attractive location.
M. G.
One of our favourite spots in Bristol. Great food, good selection of beers and great views.
A. H.
Has some good beers and a great Balcony with a view of the harbour. Didn't try the food, but looked good from what I saw.
D. C.
this place has been cool since before it was cool ;)
M. d. V.
Treated my parents to a full English breakfast here as it had been highly recommend by good friends. It was excellent (just be aware the beans are a bit on the spicy side, if spice isn't your thing). The décor is quite quaint, and the view is quite agreeable.
I. A. N.
Well decorated and a very good service.
D. F.
It was rustic and I liked that it was on top of a bike store.
J. Z.
Food was not good:( however staff was very friendly
I. T.
Really nice terrace when its sunny. I have had breakfast here, it is was tasty and not expensive. They had the typical English breakfast options and a really good fresh squeezed orange juice
L. O.
Location and overall feel of the place superb, food pretty decent although not a patch on other offerings that have recently sprung up nearby, and service pretty shonky. Staff seemingly untrained and unattentive, had to holler to order both drinks and food. Gin and tonic eventually arrived without lemon/lime. When asked a plate of lemon wedges was brought! Really young, well-meaning staff but clueless. Food overall pretty nice but I think it's the building/location that keeps this place going.
D. M.
Usually for here for a drink but was hungry so ordered from the menu, surprisingly great food!
A. D.
Lovely fast service, staff were all very helpful and amazing! Burgers were delicious too.
Thank you!
J. M.
Unfortunately I can only give 5 stars or it would be more!! My Wife had the salmon avo egg toast and I had the full breakfast (cant remember what theyre called on the menu)The quality of every item on our plates was 11 out of 10 even down to the home made baked beans. We visited in the winter but I can see that it would be a fantastic spot in the summer with the roof terrace over looking the water. The staff were also very assertive and made us welcome as soon as we walked through the door even though they were obviously ran off their feet!
A. V.
Pretty location with a view from the terrace.
Been there for lunch, good food (big breakfast plates) and drinks.
Haven't tried the coffee but knowing the roaster they supply, it's a good one.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
J. T.
Really relaxed environment and great decor, large enough to feel comfortable getting the laptop out and working for a few hours. A lovely outdoor area with good views of the harbour for when it’s sunny. Great food to match
A. L.
Really nice breakfast and great outdoor balcony..
P. C.
The location is great, but they added good, timely service and excellent cider.
I. A.
It was a nice walk to the Mud Dock Cafe, after going around next to the canal in Bristol.
We entered because it got chilly, and there was space for us. Staff was lovely and brought us the menu in a timely manner.
We had pulled pork, the mexican vegetarian and the halloumi burgers. They were all exceptional.
The brownie with ice cream was epic. Brownie so hot with ice cream in the perfect temperature.
Guys, food was great. Would do again.
M. Y.
Brilliant food and service in this strange Covid era - fantastic Eggs Royale with fresh OJ and a latte, attentive staff and safe environment. They’ve managed to retain the relaxing atmosphere and quality of the experience
S. S.
Sat outside good views, service were efficient and attentive. I had the full English, not over large but very nice. To drink I had American coffee and they were not phased when I requested hot milk. The wife had chilli avocado and a latte, I did not get to try any so that must have been good also. I paid contactless and there was no pressure about tipping. Now on my list of nice places to eat😊👴
A. C.
Sunday breakfast at Mud Dock was great. Had Veggie brekky, it was yummy. Lovely fresh oj and cappuccino too. Overlooking the docks, what more could I ask for on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning
D. M.
Great food without the eye-watering prices. Plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans and carnivores alike, whether you're looking for a quick snack or a full meal.
Sitting on the terrace means you get great views down the harbour, and you're just far enough away from the big cafes & bars on the waterside to be able to hold a conversation at normal volume levels. Can be a bit breezy though!
R. W.
Bought a chicken shawarma on wriggle. Flavours amazing and great value. Cocktails were unique and delicous. Staff service was a bit awkward as the waitress was a little rude, didn't encourage us to stay. Would return hopefully waitress will be a little happier next time.
T. W.
I go here every time I visit Bristol. Staff are friendly, good beers available and food is good. Great terrace views over the docks. Can get very busy, but that's because it's a great place to go
B. U.
Lovely evening. Covid safe. Great food, beautiful views. Would recommend and would return.
N. O.
My fave place to brunch in Bristol. I love the views over the harbour and the fact that all their rashers and sausages come from their own happy pigs makes it taste all the better
T. C.
Really nice cafe above a bike shop on the waterfront. Had eggs royale was really good. Poached eggs cooked perfectly and a nice coffee. Would visit again!
N. V. v. R.
This place is cosy, with a great view to the canals. The staff is friendly. The price is ok and it's better quality than other similar places. I didn't give it five stars because the burgers never satisfied me. All the ingredients are fine, well cooked and nicely presented. Nevertheless, as a combination something doesn't work.. it's dry (paprika beef burger) or too moisty ( bean burger). if you could improve this, this place would be even better
A. R.
Fast friendly service and good quality food at a reasonable cost.
Really enjoyed it here. Thankyou
T. J.
Lovely location, nice decor, and friendly staff. Smashing place to have a pint in the sun and watch the world go by.
Vegan, veggie, and gluten free menu items, but vegan offering is a little timid.
I. E.
Excellent food and coffee, fully recommend the vegetarian breakfast.
We asked for an outside table and was refused, only to watch an empty table outside for the duration of our meal, so the service was slightly disappointing.
X. T.
Loved their pancakes! Their burgers came with nice sourdough bread, but the pulled pork burger I had was a bit disappointing as the pulled pork's sauce was too vinegary. Would try other burgers next time
T. P.
Love the ambience of this place. Upper viewing deck is lovely in the summer. Nice good value dishes for all palettes. Good selection of drinks and even a cider cocktail!
C. D.
Had lovely brunch there whilst on a hen day with friends.
T. D.
Excellent breakfast & quirky restaurant !
S. J.
Good atmosphere and a great location. The food was what I would call 'real' food, chunky chips and proper burgers, that sort of thing. The pork scratchings were amazing and go back just for those. The service was quite slow but there was a big group of us so nothing too bad.
H. W.
Bought a veggie burger here via Wriggle for a fiver, and it was by far the best burger I've had for a very long time. Every mouthful was a delight, and the accompanying chips were potato perfection. For £5!
We were well looked after, and I love the way it's kept to its 90s cycling core and avoided the hipster trappings of two-wheeled culture. A good spot for food if you're visiting Bristol.
F. H.
A really lovely cafe/bar to sit out on the balcony on a sunny day.
W. D. (.
Decent pitchers, service a bit slow. Decent experience. A couple of yapping dogs not controlled.
T. H.
Great venue. Had caramelised fennel with goats cheese and it hot every spot. Would definitely return. Waitresses can seem a bit surly it seems as mentioned in other reviews, but don’t let it ruin your day.
M. B.
Great place love the atmosphere, lovely view and amazing window. The staff were friendly and the soup I had was fantastic. I'll be back, looking forward to a drink on the patio overlooking the water in the summer 👌
D. J.
Improved so much from the early days. Recommended.
M. B.
Lovely place to sit outside on a sunny day whatever time of year with fabulous views over harbourside. Really nice casual place to eat lunchtime & evening - small but well thought through menu. Good choice of drinks, coffee & cakes. Less suited to families.
J. M.
Then follow the path round until you find a small clearing in the trees (you will probably need an Ordinance Survey Map for this). You will walk down a small steep path between a gorge which will take you to river level. Now you can walk along the river and under the bridge itself which is a really amazing view.
s. b.
Great food great staff well placed cafe
R. F.
Slow service, very overcooked poached eggs, but otherwise quite nice. Dog friendly too.
M.
Nice bar , relaxed athmosphere and view. Good drinks selection.
M. F.
Good place to go for a quick coffee or spend an afternoon relaxing with friends. As you would expect with a bike shop downstairs, there is a large collection of bicycles and bicycle related items on every wall and hanging from the ceiling.
L.
Great atmosphere. Excellent selection of cocktails which were good value for money. The food was fairly expensive though so we didn't eat here but had a great evening drinking with friends.
R. K.
Very friendly staff , fantastic views from the terrace..food was excellent although a little over priced!
K. J.
Never been a customer but when my brand new chain came off its brand new cassette and cogs and some how wrapped itself three times around my pedal I was lucky enough to be opposite the Mud Dock. They very kindly untangled me - not an easy job - and got me back on the bike in 20 mins with a few extra tweaks to ensure it didn't happen again. All free and done with a smile. Big thanks! Will be a customer in the future.
T. B.
Cafe above cycle shop with an airy, light & spacious feeling, large terrace with great views over River Avon. Well cooked and generously sized breakfasts, lunches & evening meals with meat & veggie options, full range of drinks, friendly & efficient staff. Well established (since 1994), good alternative to Wapping Wharf eateries with better facilities.
d. B.
Mud dock always has great food and friendly service. The girl serving the table yesterday, midafternoon was really helpful. The haloumi burger is a must try 😍
E. K.
I confess that I haven't eaten here before, but can certainly vouch for the quality of their coffee.
The cafe is situated above a bike shop, with a rustic feel inside and views across the river. On a sunny day, you can sit on the large terrace and enjoy a drink or a meal - one of Bristol's best unsung spots with a view.
L. S.
The location of mine and my partners first date. Food is very homey and the place has a unique feel to the decoration and layout. If youre in Bristol, worth a visit for sure - if only for a coffee 👌
S. R.
Having been to Mud Dock on numerous occasions for both breakfast and dinner, the food is tasty and fresh, with both the dishes and service being consistent on every visit. The rooftop terrace is great for al fresco dining if the weather permits and the location is a stones throw from the busy Broad Quay area. I look forward to being back soon!
M. P.
Great food, decent drink. Quirky cafe / restaurant above well renowned bicycle shop. Definitely sit outside if the weather is good enough. Great views of the Harbourside.
D. G.
One of my favorite places in Bristol for an afternoon bite and a beer or coffee. The fact that there is a great bike shop on the ground floor has absolutely nothing to do with it whatsover...honest. Sit outside (top floor obviously) in summer. Great burgers, and good beers.
L. P.
Just a note to say a big thank you to the staff in the bike workshop today .
I popped in on the off chance that you might have any " Hover" bars in stock .
You not only sorced me the bars , but fitted them as well ( for a very reasonable price)
They are great !
Many thanks
Excellent ergonomics, the 15mm rise really makes a difference .
Thanks again .
C. B.
Perfectly located place right on the riverside. Got a great vibe inside. When the sun is out you can see right down the river and it is wonderful to say thr least. On those rainy or windy days the inside is a delight with deconstructed bikes and murals on the walls with friendly staff amd good food galore. Definitely worth the stop
R. B.
Great location have your bike serviced while you visit the upstairs restaurant and outside balcony. Very nice food.
J. B.
Friendly staff and good quality food. View over the docks is great and the inside of the venue is adorned with ‘banksy’ style artwork and fascinating local and nautical artefacts giving the place a bizarre contemporary and oldey worldy feel that is both very comfortable and fascinating at the same time. Prices are on the higher side but entirely justified you the quality and extra effort put into the food and drink. Go here for a quality experience
A. S.
Delicious food and great location, a place with spirit
M. G.
Excellent lunch. Last time, I had the Moroccan lamb burger, this time the chicken shawarma, both were excellent. Also, a top-class ale from Cheddar ales and a harbour-front view. All good!
R. B.
Always good food and good view
D. H.
Staff were friendly, the menu has a nice selection without being overwhelming and the food ad coffee is tasty. Plenty of space inside and a nice outdoor terrace area as well.
R. C.
The alcohol-free cocktail is a sickly sweet fruitjuice mix of deliciousness! More than one and you might not have any teeth left though. Lots of room to sit indoors or outside on the balcony overlooking the river, but the staff were a little bit precious over where a group of smokers could sit though. Top of the stairs on the two level balcony was no good, but at the bottom of the steps standing next to the ankles of two diners at the upper level was good.
B. w.
Food was really delicious, definitely go for one of the specials they really won't disappoint. Staff very friendly and gave really good service.
M. A.
Food ok. We had the ham and cheese ploughman's but all a bit dry. Cold inside on an October afternoon. Service ok to begin with but deteriorated as two out of the three staff appeared to be having meetings and the one left serving kept back resolutely turned away from customers.
D. B.
Nice venue but busy inside so had to be outside which was cold.
J. G. F.
Great food. Christmas menu was amazing! Excellent service. They even had blankets if you were feeling cold...
D. F.
Friendly staff and good quality food.
Great location overlooking Bristol Docks means it’s very busy on warm, sunny weekends.
Good atmosphere and good for families.
M. W.
Fab place amazing cocktails... staff lovely and friendly too
M. J.
Very good value for tea for 3 on the terrace. Happened to catch them when the cafe bit was closed so little food on offer, but got the last piece of brownie which was nice.
D. L.
Love this place. Bikes, beer, burgers. It does all three and it does them well. If you did MTBing in the 90s, there is some seriously retro-trick in there (sectioned carbon Cannondale Raven anyone?)
T. M.
Excellent food in an interesting bike-thermed environment.
G. T.
Nice cafe overlooking the river .
K. S.
Food was fantastic. The day I went they didn't serve lunch until 1 (I think). Service was great and the views were spot on. I would definitely recommend.
M. N.
Perfect place for cycling junkies. Cycling deco inside and perfect view for Mshed/river. One of my best places in Bristol. Evening time very busy difficult to get palce on terrace. Amasing place for nice lager/pilsner. Very friendly staff.
A. B.
Combination of a café/restaurant with a bike shop what is there not to like? Meals can be excellent, just every now and again lunch can be a bit hit or miss. I recommend the breakfast as this has always been consistent.
J. M.
Burgers were great, really nice place to sit (especially if you like bikes) as well as nice views of the harbour. Bloody Mary was top notch.
D. T.
This place is great, particularly when the sun is out. The food is good and there's a great choice of local beers. I recommend getting a table near the railings which gets a bit more of the sun.
A. L.
Dinner on the terrace was as it should be. Views over the river, pink (obscured) sunset over a cold beer. They have a wide beer selection and an extensive a la carte menu as well as daily specials. Not as much gluten free vegetarian options as I would like but I'm just being very picky (hint - need more carb / stodgy free veg options on restaurant menus)! Apart from that - my companion's grilled sea bass got ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and although we were super stuffed, we ordered the roasted rhubarb oat crumble pudding and it was piping hot and like a warm hug - as it should be. Oh, we also got chip envy - which we ordered & ate with their chunky tartare sauce - So good! Do it - u won't walk out disappointed! What I REALLY love about this place is that the annoying smokers are not allowed to smoke on the main terrace - there's a lower terrace that smokers are relegated to! Five stars for that!
R. S.
Service is always great, love the atmosphere here, plus it is around the corner from work! food could be a little more consistent, but overall really like this place and I recommend it!
M. F.
Lovely pit stop while shopping for bikes, great atmosphere and lovely staff
R. V.
A1 food n service. It's very informal and yet the menu is more like a restaurant than a cafe. Very surprised to hear that their landlord, the Bristol City Council Authority, has increased the annual rent by a highly disproportionate amount. Meaning that the Mud Dock Cafe and Bike Shop are in fact indept inexcess of £150,000 over night! And will possibly close because of these increased high rents n probably business rates too? If not the bisiness will have to increase its prices, making it over priced and out of reach of many of its current patrons and customers!? Please support the Mud Dock, yet another small Bristol popular and unique establishment that may not be around for very much longer!
M. B.
Great place! Beautiful views, cozy decor, friendly staff. Great place to eat, drink, relax and even do some work here. Keep up the good work guys!
A. C.
Great place to have a drink on the terrace. You get a nice view of the harbor and beautiful sunset from there. The staff was very friendly and they got a good selection of beers and ciders.
F. Q.
With iron chairs, huge tables, an enormous round window and bike parts for decoration, this converted warehouse above a bicycle shop makes an excellent choice for weekend brunch with friends, especially in summer when you can sit on its upper floor terrace and look out over the passing boats. The specials board complements a menu of sausage and mash, home made burgers, steak and plump sandwiches as well as tapas and mezze to share, all guzzled down with huge jugs of beer and chunky chips.
C. N.
We popped in for what should of been a good breakfast but it didn’t really materialise that way...We went for breakfast and we sat outside overlooking the harbour My wife ordered the veggie and I the English breakfast a little slow coming but it was worth it, we were both impressed quality ingredients and cooked perfectly.all in a great setting.
M.
Nice place to eat light lunch. Perfect if you need to work when you are away from the office. Staff is very polite and proactive. Menu is simple but sufficient. However, not my type of food
D. B.
Lovely view if the harbour. Table service. Didn't eat but food being served looked really good and would definitely go back to eat.
F. A.
Pleasant in summer with lovely waterside views, but it can become very crowded and noisy. Enjoyable light food etc though not the most comfortable chairs for long conversations.
E. J.
Really nice rustic style café. Nice views over the river and a very cool cycle shop to match. The staff are lovely, generally an awesome place.
J. C.
Delicious breakfast with tasty coffee. Full English was amazing my partner commented and the sausage and egg topped sourdough toast was lovely.
M. S.
Excellent find with its own car park. Atmosphere was great, gorgeous views and the food was outstanding. Dog friendly, too!
A. L.
Food was really lovely and the coffee was good too!
R. P.
It had really delicious nachos but the kitchen wasn't even open!
M. R.
Lovely setting with great food and drink. The team at the mud dock cafe ensuring social distancing and a prompt table service.
P. A. V.
Friendly café with nice views of the marina. Nice food and friendly service. Reasonably priced and served quite quickly.
c. v.
Great. Had a cheese board for one.....fantastic!!!
P. M.
Love the menu and choices. Friendly and efficient service and great location. Will be going again!
E. S. P.
Best cafe/restaurant experience in Bristol from the few ones I've tried! Very good atmosphere, nice views, outside and inside seating, good beer selection. Loved it!
H. C.

F. M.
Super cool atmosphere! Never known anywhere like it. Been there twice and we love it! Can’t wait to have our next party there.

Liked this place. Friendly staff with a decent variety of bottled ales, ciders; good coffee. Makes the most of an amazing location with a nice interior. Definite worth a visit.

B. F.
Our first meal out during COVID - couldn't have been better! I felt safe and clean and food was awesome 👌
J.
Very welcoming - great food
L. H.
Best Irish coffee I've had in ages! Lovely little place highly recommend.
I. R.
High quality. Best cinnamon buns in Cornwall. A place priced as somewhere to go for a treat, not every day.
R. C.
This is a great place for innovative food, good service and you get a good view of the river. And of course, there's an excellent bike shop downstairs!
D. B.
Really enjoyable experience lovely food.Even with discount today would have been worth full payment.
R. W.
Great food here. Good mix of healthy options and indulgence. Quite a cool alternative crowd. Very cycling focused lol
J. B.
Fantastic little bar/cafe. Nice view over the docks. Looks like a qwerky bike shop below as well (not been in there, was closed)
M. H.
Food and service was excellent, very nice warm atmosphere, unfortunately for being a wheelchair user access was a big issue having 2 flights of steps and no disabled toilet
j.
Cool, quirky place with good food and friendly staff. Also has an excellent beer garden/terrace which is a perfect place to drink on a sunny afternoon
K. Y.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff who would advise on great dishes of choice...i.e. they know the menu, good portions. Thumbs up.
P.
Not everyone's cup of tea but I really like it. Good views if you manage to get a seat outside decent food and beer and friendly staff.
J. B.
We're here right now with the SERIOUS cyclists of Bristol. We've grown cleats on our feet in here. Uber cool urban overlooking the water. Interesting hip food at middle class prices.
The bare iron chairs are a little hard on the derrière but hey, we're case-hardened cyclists.
K. K.
Great food, lovely setting and layout etc... However it is up a flight of stairs, no lift, completely inaccessible to wheelchairs etc
J. H.
Very nice. Great food and beer. But, can I have my food on a plate please.
S. D.
We ate here today and everything was perfect. Great food and lovely staff. Thanks!
J. L.
Staff aren't the best. Location is great. Food alright but had better close by. Good for drinks etc but I wouldn't recommend it for more than that.
A. L.

Great vibes, nice open space in summer, very cosy atmosphere in winter. Great for a catch up with friends over a coffee and a few bites.
C. W.
Had a fancy veggie breakfast, decent coffee, great location by the river. Outside was full but inside is lovely too.
N. W.

Cool place, they have blankets if your cold. Hence I love it there as I am always so cold and want to be wrapped in a blanket.
G. T.
Great cafe, good food. And it has a bike theme. Staff were excellent, really great service.
G. R.
Good quality food, and great terrace with excellent view, but the lacklustre service didn't warrant their compulsory service charge of 10% (I'm a regular tipper too) -
It left me with a sour taste
E. G.
Great food and friendly staff. Lively atmosphere and views. A pleasant place to eat.
D. P.
Decent food and good value. Very "Bristol" vibe to the place. Good if you want to try somewhere new
R. P.
This is from my point of view as a vegan as options very limited. But, otherwise seems a great place.
R. G.
Great brunch... so good I had the big breakfast followed by the pancakes!
C. Z.

B. W.

Great place for coffee & breakfast. Lovely staff, even if they were surprised with the Lego on the table when the drinks were brought over.
P. B.
Lovely location and good food. Quite expensive for what you get but still nice places to spend an afternoon.
J. D.
Went for breakfast with a group of friends. Great interior, and the food was delicious. Also the orange juice tasted really fresh.
P. H.
The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I'm of the 'put it on a plate' persuasion. Otherwise it's great. Good service, great food.
i. a.
No faults at all, everything was nice and staff were friendly, my only problem was the food wasn't quite to my taste
S. H.
Very good. Great selection of beer. Food and service were good. Great view from the balcony. Will go back.
R. K.
Spoke to the mechanic after the issues i had with the hub. Turns out his work was ok and that I was mistaken about how the hub should feel when the wheel rotates.
Decided to increase the rating on this basis.
G.
Nice rustic feel, great views & the best beef bourguignon I've had for ages 😃
D. L.
Lovely place and very good food.
J.
It's a good, if not exceptional, place to come for a few drinks or something to eat. The views out over the water are great.
S. C.
Quiet and friendly place. Ideal for studying and quite meetings. Can get busy but still, a relaxing place. Service could be slightly better.
M. T.
