Reviews of Spoke & Stringer
O. M.
The service here was great and my chorizo and Scrambled egg burrito was delicious!
Sadly though I was overall disappointed with the visit.
I love milkshakes and was really looking forward to one from here but paid £9 for two and watched the waitress fill the blender with milk and a few pumps of syrup - I expect at least a scoop of ice cream and some whipped cream and some drizzle for a £4.50 milkshake.
Also the place appears to be aware of the sustainability concept, it at least has some funky bins to recycle the waste but we sat inside and all of our food was brought to the table with some packaging that needed binning, Alu foil on two burritos and a burger, paper wrap on the burritos, then a paper bag per burrito, the tacos were in a plastic box - it could all have come on 4 plates and needed no material to be scrapped.
The layout is really weird too like you have to go next door to order a milkshake or coffee then come back inside to sit back at your table, not really very customer focused, especially with Covid, I was walking back-and-forwards past loads of strangers stood around and stood in doorways...
I think they need to make some changes so, not recommended sadly.

Came to collect my too good to go magic bag and it was amazing!! Situated in a lovely place it has lots of baked goods and good measures on covid as well! The sandwiches, pasties and the green curry was incredible!! Would love to come back again! Tried their americano today and it was really good! Staff member new well about the beans and where they are coming from as well. It was also great that the cup and the lid was biodegradable material.

This place is great! Super friendly service, delicious brunch and excellent coffee. I had the mushrooms with truffle oil, a duck egg and some lime infused avocado. Sat overlooking the water, perfect start to the day!
A. H.
Had coffee and cake from the deli which was lovely. Not as much choice as previous visits. Such a shame that you can't get breakfast as the cafe is closed.
T. M.
Cool place attached to a bike shop with a lovely view of the harbour. Small menu but the food was good, although quite strict on times between breakfast/brunch/dinner! Definitely overpriced (£3 per sausage, £5.50 for a 2/3 pint) but overall a decent spot for brunch in Bristol
J. H.
Our brunch at Spoke & Springer was pleasant but drafty. Meals are served at set times so make sure you arrive in the slot for your desired breakfast or so. The sea bass was salty but the mash mellows its flavour. I think £11.95 for this plate is within reason but I didn’t feel full. Wouldn’t order this again but I’d be up to try their other dishes. Also they don’t ask how well you want your steak done so if you don’t eat medium-rare, be sure to let them know! It’s unlucky if you’re seated near the doors because they need to keep it open for the steam from cooking to escape. Service is quick!
B. N.
The drinks arrived quickly and were certainly good enough. The location is lovely by the water, but that describes half the venues in Bristol!
S. T.
Lovely place. Not that well organised signage wise and not much sanitizing between people using the tables. No soap in toilet. The best tacos I've ever had tho!!!
G. D.
Looked up best places for brunch in Bristol and this place came up.
Was pleasant enough, food was ok, drinks were ok. Nothing to write home about. Come in a sunny day and sit outside for the view of the harbour. Decent service too.
We had a brunch bowl, which although was pleasant enough, was served in takeaway kebab boxes with plastic cutlery and disposable cups for drinks. Was far from 5 stars, and definitely not one of the best spots in Bristol for brunch.
Strange set up with everything separate, food and tea in one place, coffee in another, sandwiches in a different location again. Very strange.
Would come back but won’t be rushing

The staff are always friendly and efficient. The coffee is good and there is a good selection of of sweet and savory things to enjoy with it . They have very nice bread and loads of tempting things on the shelves. The other parts of the premises I have not explored not needing all that they have to offer but pressing my nose against the window I have seen good stuff.
J. G.
Had a couple of take away Oatly flat whites here on a quick trip through Bristol. Have to say that the barista did an exceptional job. Smooth, good temp, low bitterness. One of the best made flat whites I've ever had from a cafe.
P. C.
Lovely, friendly staff. Good coffee. Nice vibe.
M.
A pleasant surprise on a windy Sunday morning. It seems you should reserve even in March, yet we got lucky. Very friendly and patient staff. Made already the difference.
The menu really offers a great selection of different dishes from traditional to a bit more hip vegan stuff that as you can see you can pep up with the unhealthy but tasty bacon ;-).
So it does cater for all styles.
C. D.
Really nice spot to have a quick lunch as you walk along the water. I took the smoked mackerel with scrambled eggs and their homemade bread, absolutely delicious! On the top of that the staff is friendly 👌
D. B.
Very nice place with a good selection of light bites and good coffee, reasonably priced. Friendly staff.
P. S.
Coffee tasted ok, but not great. Service was very slow.
K. K.
Great fish tacos, and nice smoothies. Enjoyed the immune booster (carrot, ginger and orange.) Nice location on Broken Dock. Good recycling bin nearby.
M. C.
I was having a lovely walk last Sunday in the sun on the harbour, and happened upon spoke and stringer. I sat in the sun for a while, with lovely drinks, service and then, when I got hungry, some wonderful fish tacos. They were incredibly fresh, and the fish was fantastic. Would have been great to have had a lime wedge to squidge over the fish. Such a lovely time, felt like I was on holiday
M. N.
I had the best carrot cake of my life here, and I'm from the US! We have plenty of carrot cakes. I almost went back for a second piece the same day as it was just so amazing. Light, fluffy and not too heavily spiced. The cream cheese frosting was perfection. Kudos to Baker!
M. D.
All Gluten free some GF loved it....she liked the tartan sauce too. I'd prefer it was a wee bit more tart....but you'll like it there I'm sure
J. C.
Great little place. Food was excellent, always love an open kitchen. Service fast and efficient but equally friendly.
Pop in the shop too a 50 % sale saw my husband buy a new coat.
Was a little cold with door fully open, hence not 5star.
B. H.
The food was really good here and the staff were friendly. It was a little slow but a big minus for me was that they had no high chairs at all. I would describe this place as all over the brunch (served until 3pm) but it's a quality not quantity sort of place so if you want an overflowing plate look else where... If you like perfect eggs and delicious Parmesan polenta chips this is the place for you.
E. R.
As a gluten free, vegan person I was so so happy to see that you served tacos at I could eat! The blue corn tacos were so yummy, I would definitely recommend. You guys made my day!
P. P.
We went there on a Sunday.
The food was great. Very well presented and very tasty. I had the sardine on bread dish which was original. The cake and coffee were also good.
The service could be a bit more attentive we had to wait a bit to order some stuff.
C. R.
Awesome cafe in a great location facing the water. I can't recommend the breakfast here highly enough - i had the poached eggs, avocado and pesto on sourdough toast, and it was done to perfection. Looking forward to coming back and sampling the dinner menu soon!
R. M.
Nice spot right by the harbour. We sat outside for coffee and breakfast buns and was great.
D. W.
The food, small dishes and tapas, are wonderful, the view out across the river to the S.S. Great Britain is perfect, and the service marvellous. We were found a table on a Saturday evening despite neglecting to book and this compact and bijou eatery being full. We'll be back!
d. r.
Great location. Very friendly staff. Food was decent but didnt impress as much as other tapas places we regularly visit in Bristol.. and the price is the same if not a bit higher. Many dishes used the same aioli so they seemed very similar. The calamari dish we had wasnt good (may this was a 1 off mistake) and some other dishes were a bit under whelming in size and taste. The croquetas were good but very small. Lamb meatballs we really liked. Dessert crema Catalana was good.
This time it didnt meet our expectations maybe next time.
a. j.
Lovely location in Broken Dock. Very nice welcome from the waitress. Orders for food and drinks taken very efficiently, and the drinks arrived promptly.
There was a short delay before the food arrived but when it did it was well worth the wait. I had Salmon with Samphire.... heartily recommended.
R. C.
We really enjoyed our brunch in the sun here. Despite being easter weekend and rather busy, the staff were attentive and friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for drinks and food - all of which were totally delicious! We’ll definitely be coming back.
R. O.
This place is so cool! It lives and breaths what you want it to, cruzy lifestyle brand with cool people, cooler music and a laid back really welcoming atmosphere. The food is amazing, actual healthy not pretentious healthy... and really well priced.
They have a cool surf and cycle shop also. With really nice clothes. The service is wicked. Pretty much the best new place in Bristol!
M. B.
Really very impressed. As another reviewer said, this place is cool. Food is deliciously healthy and well-made, service is impeccable (they really care) and it's so easy to relax here by the harbourside. There's even fast WIFi. Can see this place being a regular in these summer months - and beyond :). Well done guys, a great addition to the Bristol cafe scene.
R. E.
Really delicious dinner for all our party guests, packed with flavour, fresh and inventive tapas and pintxos. The atmosphere is lovely at night, tucked away on the harbourside opposite the SS Great Britain. Service was brilliant, they couldn't do enough to make sure our evening was really special. Go.
G. R.
Very good coffee and general service. Staff were very friendly and helpful 👌
L. D.
Super friendly staff, really great coffee and cakes! A nice place to stop, or grab a drink to go as you wander round the harbourside.
M. M.
Nice location by the waterside. We were directed to the deli as we only wanted afternoon tea. Not much seating inside but all clean and tidy. Good service and ok cake, but very expensive for what we had...have a look around for alternatives if you’re on a budget.
K. W.
Popped in for coffee and hot chocolate and snack on this cold morning when walking are dog around the harbour side.food and drink spot on with lovely friendly staff and of course covid 19 safe 👍
B. C.
Spoke & Stringer know exactly what they are doing. Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. It can get busy during brunch time on weekends. My favourite place to go for my favourite meal of the day, brunch - absolutely love their Shakshuka, along with my strong, skim, flat white (and it actually is a flat white), and sometimes a cheeky Bloody Mary. Highly recommend this place!
P. W.
Great place to eat, with great food and friendly staff. The croissants and coffee are the best in Bristol but a tip, get there at 8am as the view across to the SS Great Britain first thing is a relaxing and best start to the day.
J. M.
Had the best breakfast there today! Steak & egg with polenta chips! Simply delicious. Excellent food & wonderfully attentive service.
N. B.
A wonderful brunch spot at the cool end of Bristol's harbourside. Really fantastic ambiance and an exciting menu. The balik ekmek is a Turkish inspired, summery light dish of sardine fillets on toast with cherry tomatoes, tzatziki, red onion and sumac by the brilliant new head chef.
L. D.
Friendly staff, and nice enough décor, but I'm afraid that I did not enjoy the coffee. Not everybody likes Central American beans, an alternative would have been nice.
A. G.
Very tasty fish and chips. Great location.
D. N.
I visit every day and enjoy the good coffee and very friendly staff
A. O.
Great for brucnh, friendly staff and really good food, only niggle being the service, you are seated and they will take a coffee order but then you have to order your food at the bar and pay there and then so no option to run a tab, otherwise pretty much perfect. Will be back!
T. R.
Regular brunch location where the Mediterranean flavours mix well with good hang over food. Chorizo sausages and hariza mixes well with fresh sour dough bread.
Evening food is tapas, served fresh from the bar, with a good choice of options. Regular live music performing as well, with a range of cocktails available or local beers.
M. B.
OK, so I'm a sucker for great branding but this place has substance too. The food and atmosphere, night or day, is spot on. The location is great and they put on some brilliant events as well.
J.
A brilliant location looking out over the water. great for a few drinks, or, if you're their int he evening, the tapas dishes they serve are fresh and very tasty.
A. G.
Very frendly and helpful staff. I popped in for for a but of lunch and would highly recommend the tacos! Will be back again.
J. K.
Brilliant breakfast, truly deserves its Bristol food award. Great location and shop next door. Service and staff were great also
B. E.
Nice sheltered lunch spot by the dock. Service could have been faster, but food was definitely worth the wait! Proper ingredients with no compromises.
T.
Best brunch in town; great location (specially in summer). My favourite dish is the House Breakfast; roasted portobello mushrooms, fried chorizo, poached eggs, house beans and grilled sourdough bread.
In the night they do Pintxos, really delicate and full of flavour. Love the guindilla, chilli and olive pintxo. They offer about half a dozen almost every night, perfect when you partner that up with the Mortimer's Cider. It gets intimate in the night.
It's away from all the noise of the city centre, so it's perfect for date night. Note: Book on Thursdays and Fridays.
S. A.
Gorgeous location, super friendly staff and the food was amazing! Definitely best breakfast I've had in Bristol and the juices are lovely
S. S.
Very good and tasty food. We had breakfast there and everything was perfect. The service could be a bit quicker though.
D. J.

J. D.

B. S.
Great cornish pasties and turnovers and lovely staff
X. H.
Super delicious food from a limited (small kitchen working miracles) by very tasty menu. Outdoor seating on a sunny day to look over the harbour.
B. M.
Stinger is part of a Surf Board, learn something new everyday. Honestly this is the nicest place to have lunch and catches the sun nicely however the is also a shady spot on one side of the deli. The clothing is incredible i have a plain white T that has a long but tightish fit and unlike primarny it has shown no sign of shrinking. Thank You.
D. D.
Great coffee, service, views across the harbour and place to just chill.
P. M.
Amazing brunch. No idea what they put in the patatas bravas sauce but it was incredible. Nice steak sandwich too and the staff are quick and helpful.
M. P.
Excellent food. Possibly the best breakfast I have had in Bristol. Friendly service. Food was incredible.
N. L.
This place is fantastic and unlike anywhere else in Bristol.. The food was delicious and the staff are really friendly.. Great location for having a Gin down by the water and watching the world go by
D. W.

Really beautiful and serene place to chill, great atmosphere by the river side and friendly service. Only stumbled upon this place by chance and felt that it deserved more reviews than it currently has on google

T. W.
Had a lovely time with friends at the restaurant. Food was delicious and drinks were refreshing! Lovely setting as well!
J. C.
Don't know about the restaurant but the Spoke and Stringer Deli next door does great coffee and pastries. Delicious.
L. H.
Great ambience and as said before simple and delicious food at an affordable price- I had chicken noodle salad at harbourside festival weekend- the flavour was delicious and ingredients carefully orchestrated to pack it full of flavour and yet full of freshly chopped vegetables mmm after a terrible experience at Café Gusto on the harbour side this turned the day around...
j. w.
Limited menu and quite pricey for what you get .
Also some things not available.
L. G.
Fantastic tapas style food in the evenings, small menu but each dish perfectly cooked. It will be a regular haunt.
N. P.
