Reviews of The Orchard Coffee & Co

The interior is pleasant enough, the food is tasty and of good quality. However their service is non-existent. The table was filthy and sticky, we had to ask for it to be cleaned twice. No sauces in sight (which is strange considering they offer full English breakfast). No butter provided for the toast either. We asked a Waitress for some, but she never returned. I'm just glad I didn't wait for her and let my food go cold. Wouldn't come here again, there are better local places to eat, where they actually provide some form of customer service.

Lovely place with creative alternative food menus. Well worth a visit! Great coffee and friendly staff compliment the 19th century chapel. Carefully picked local produce is used, including baked products from the Orchard Bakery over the road and treats that could rival Ms Potts Bakery! Food finishes serving about 2? Maybe this could be extended one day?

We visited today for brunch and the place was busy although there are lots of spaces inside. It was great to see people actually going out again and after eating here I can see why! I have the corn fritters and they were fantastic, the coffee was excellent too. Pleasant staff and nice atmosphere. Only downside was the lack of parking.

Always enjoy coming here, when I get the chance.
Good atmosphere & good music.
Was very happy to find a vegan biscoff brownie in the counter. Sorry I had the last one 🤣
And the drink in the picture is a vanilla iced coffee.

Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
We had to wait quite a bit because the place was full but it was totally worth it.
I had one of my favourite breakfast here, I'll surely come back again.

Visiting from Florida USA and stumbled across this place, Orchard Coffee & Co in Bristol. OMG!! I landed at a gold mine- the best kept secret in town! Amazing staff. Cozy environment ,friendly staff, great food and to live for coffee-with exceptional service. Jake and team… thank you. Agatha 💛

Rad place, coffee is the best I've had in Bristol, passionate and friendly staff, very knowledgeable and just such a vibe. Bonus is that it's owned by a Saffa and they have a drink called a South-Africano which is an Americano with condensed milk - give it a go, you won't be disappointed! Playlist was also foot-tapping and head-nodding. New favourite spot!!

Very lovely setting inside, the food is amazing, and an outside seating if you wish to. I would recommend a visit when you can

Have been here three times now and each time the food and drinks have been incredible. Staff are always helpful and nothing is too much trouble. So glad we stumbled across it on a walk, we had heard great things. Great little venue too and banging background music!

Myself and the family came to Orchard for breakfast to celebrate a birthday. Really great food, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Free-range eggs were an extra plus! We'll definitely be returning soon.

Been going here for a couple months and generally been very happy with the food, my partner really likes it. I ordered an egg in my sandwich the last time I went, and I like my eggs well done so I asked for that.... I think I must have offended the guy in the kitchen or they just didn't know how to cook an egg that wasn't runny. Instead of flipping the egg or cooking it at lower heat, whoever cooked it just viscously burnt it on one side. First time I have ever had to use a knife to scrape the bottom side of an egg.
I gave a 3 star review as my partner liked the place, but we can't come again as I wouldn't want to pay for food like that again.

Lovely cafe, very slow service.
A really lovely cafe run by friendly people with good coffee. Sadly they changed the menu recently and took off most of what you would want for lunch and seem to have replaced it with waffles (not what you want for lunch).
The big down side is the speed of service. Even if the place is empty, allow 20 mins + to get a coffee and 30-40 before you get your food. My take away coffee took 10 mins the other day.

Great spot and great people! Only caveats are that coffee is sometimes a little off if you get it black (over-extracted/burnt?) and food varies quite a bit — korean sourdough toast was really good/gratuitously saucy, but sandwich was really plain—bread was sub-par, not toasted, not much to the fillings. To the wonderful people of Orchard: double-down on the coffee snobbery + keep it up with the creative menu! Folks can get their basic baps elsewhere.

The food is very well thought out, even as they are in the middle of changing their menu.
I wasn't fond of my breakfast, still delicious, just not what I was hoping for, but my bf's vegan breakfast looked totally delicious and filling!
I'd like to request more than just banana cake for the vegans out there as it seems the most common vegan cake in Bristol cafés and coffee shops. Boring.
Thanks for your great atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff!

** Updated review **
It's only fair to credit businesses when they respond positively to feedback and the team at the Orchard have certainly done that. Table service has been ditched in favour of walking up to the counter to place an order, which makes the whole process about 10x more efficient. Gone are the days of waiting 40 minutes for someone to come and take your order only to wait another 40 minutes to receive it! The new front of house manager is super efficient and dedicated. The menu has been simplified somewhat, with interesting (and tasty) Korean-style poached eggs available, delicious waffles alongside more traditional cafe fare. Happily come back again soon.
*** Old review, September 2021 **
I’ve been visiting the Orchard on and off for around two years but will no longer attempt a sit in meal / snack due to the abysmal service. For my last few visits I would order at the counter on arrival as table service would often take up to half an hour to reach us, followed by a similar if not longer wait for the food. Despite what the owners say, this isn’t a short staffing issue due to covid as it’s been going on for a very long time. Undoubtedly the best thing about this place is the coffee - very high quality every time in my experience. The food is more variable, with some dishes tasty and well crafted, others disappointing and burnt. Despite all this the building and atmosphere is fantastic and I would love to see the place under new management so I could visit more regularly.

Excellent place, food was amazing especially the rhubarb and waffles. Nice atmosphere and the staff were super friendly and professional. Highly recommended and will be going back again in the future

It was better than last time . But still a little behind . The menu is limited but good, maybe a couple of kids options as my son wasn't the only child present .
The staff are nice but feel a bit Clueless .
I had to ask the bartender to shake the pineapple juice before pouring as the first cup was just too waterery ( you know how pineapple juice splits right ? )
We waited 40 minutes for a soup , a breakfast butty and a kimchi eggs royale and chips , it was busy but not that busy , my food was barley warm and the soup was boiling.
Told a waitress the tap water was missing s
And got a reply of that happens ask the bar ... I'm asking you is the felling. The venue is nice and coffees were good . Food quality was good too .
Good staff is hard to come by . But a better effort of teaching basics should be done .
Like last time I visited a very promising venue
That always leaves me a little disappointed .
Hope next time will be even better.

Takeaway veggie roast was *excellent* and very good value. Recommended - so lovely to have a full roast dinner with none of the faff! Will do it again soon.

A small slice of gluten free cake was found for me after the last slice was served to another customer. I was super grateful and recommend this cafe to others.

A friend told me about this place and it was every bit as good as she claimed. Wonderful atmosphere, great mocha and tasty waffles
