L. S.What a lovely gem of a place. Excellent service and very friendly. Food was fabulous and really fresh. The only fault was the outdated toilet but they apologised for this and it was clean so certainly not marking it down for this.

R. A.Citta Cafe is a Homemade Italian restaurant. The place is small and cozy. The service is subpar, as the waiters bring you a sign with Today's Specials and would begin to read off the menu.
It's an open kitchen where you see the chefs cook the food in front of you!
My friends and I ordered the Veggi Gnocchi and it was amazing! The Gnocchi is fresh and tasty, enhanced by diced carrots and spinach.
We also ordered the Patate, which basically is potatoes with tomato sauce topped with thyme. The potatoes are extremely tasty as we fought for the last pieces.
We also ordered a veggie pizza that had a vast array of vegetables. The waiter also returned the pizza and sliced it (without us asking, which is great). Followed by a veggie pasta that tasted extremely good! It contained zucchini, aubergine, tomatoes, mixed peppers and an array of herbs that made an explosive taste on my taste buds.
Moreover, complementary cheese and bread sticks are available!
All in all, everything is more than amazing and would most definitely eat here again and again!
A.One of the best Italian restaurants in Cardiff, I go here all the time with family and friends, is smart casual and always amazing service and food. Although small, they are very flexible, always make sure to book as not always a chance of walking in because it is very small.

My pizza was good but not outstanding. It was supposed to have roasted peppers and chillies but I couldn't taste the latter. There were too many raw peppers on it for my liking but I simply took them off and ate them separately.
The homemade nduja was very good and made up for the lack of chillies.
It wasn't cheap. £31.50 for a starter, main and two small bottles of beer.

J.A cosy Italian cafe hidden away between two more prominent restaurants just down the road from Cardiff Castle, offering a selection of traditional Italian food.
They offer a good selection of Italian-style pizzas, cooked to a crispy thin crust for a decent price. The buffalo mozzarella is particularly good.
For me the only issue is that right now the barriers they've added between the tables make the small space feel very cramped especially for those with longer legs, but this will be less of an issue when COVID restrictions relax further.

S.Recommended by the nipper we'd pre-booked knowing a sunny day and Wales playing their first game in the Euros it would be busy in Cardiff - so after being parted with over 130 for vinyl from Spillers (it was drop 1 on rsd today after all) I settled into a cosy, busy and bustling Cafe Citta with the family. It's hard to tell sometimes at the moment that we're still under covid restrictions (only the side screens and one less table gave it away) given how "normal" it felt in here today. Anyway, great service, excellent pasta (I'm with several of Italians who've reviewed here that say it's the best they've tasted outside of home) and a truly wonderful tiramisu made with enough cream cheese and booze to fell an ox. The garlic in my seafood linguine was enough to see off vampires for the week (perfectly balanced with the toasted pine nuts and fresh basil) and they happily doggy-bagged the excess pizza my daughter couldn't manage. A good wine recommendation and all for under a ton for 4 hungry adults. Go if love Italian food. Don't if you can't deal with a bustling, busy business sweating hard on your behalf to skirt on the edges of acceptable covid risk to show you what Bella, zizzis, etc. should be doing with herbs, extra virgin and durum wheat.

The bolognese was excellent and plenty, and the pescatore had a lo lovely fresh garlic flavor and aroma, it was very generous in seafood, quality and quantity were both there. We will come back next time we’re in Cardiff!
C. J.Small and cosy. The staff are very friendly and helpful and if you have food allergies or intolerance they take time to find out and make notes on your order. The food was delicious and we felt satisfied without eating vast quantities. Although they only have 13 tables they allowed 2 hours for our booking so we didn't feel rushed. For 2 of us 3 courses with coffee, liqueurs and a bottle of wine came to £67. Money well spent.

B.I've been visiting this restaurant since it opened, I used to be a regular from their previous restaurant Cibo's, once I found out they had a new place, this has been my go to place for birthdays, special occasion and pretty much any time I find myself in the centre of Cardiff. I don't think I know of better little honest and hearty Italian anywhere Uk or otherwise, you can't buy the authenticity and family run vibe, when people are passionate about their food, their customers and the dinning experience, you get something extra special and this is one of those places. What's even more impressive is its size of the restaurant and it's prices. The size is "Bijou" but that's because this is not a commercial chain, or built to drive maximum profit, it's built to be brilliant at what it does, you can tell the owners are not just focused don profit but take an immense pride in the dinning experience and their customers, many of whom are regulars. The food is consistently brilliant, the service is always quick and friendly and if you haven't been you are missing out !!

H. L.A cracking meal last night! Great to see Cafe Citta back open. Even with the extra steps and screens needed to meet covid19 regulations they have retained the wonderfully cosy atmosphere which makes this place so special. That and the top class food; simple, full of flavour and good value.
We started with mozzarella and tomatoes, olives and bread. Followed with ham, mushroom, artichoke,olive pizza and prawn pasta in white wine sauce, finished with tiramasu and panna cotta. Not a scrap left on our plates and left very content.

Disappointed with our most recent visit.
We have been in the past and it has been good. But recently we went for my partner's birthday and, whilst the staff were friendly, we found plastic in my partner's meal. It was sharp and could have done some damage.
They replaced the meal but it took them a little while to do so, and my own meal went cold in the mean time. Bizarrely when they brought the replaced meal it had carrot in it, which was a little odd since it didn't to start with. I had ordered the same and that didn't have carrot in it either. Carrot rating 3/5, a little al dente. 🥕
They didn't offer to take any money off for the meals and we paid full price.
We went to order puddings at around 7.45 but by that time they only had tiramisu and ice cream left.

This restaurant is exactly what you would expect of an Italian eatery in Italy. The waiters are typically Italian - macho, dark and with a great Italian accents. The cooks don't speak any English and concoct mouth-watering pieces. We made a very specif order, as one of us has several intolerances and the waiter made sure we received exactly what we asked for. This did involve a couple of returns and re-runs, but ultimately we consumed precisely what we asked for. The potato pizza is a particular stand out - it is not a regular on most restaurant menus. The desserts were good too, but we were very disappointed that there was no Tiramisu. It turns out it is such a popular option it finishes off almost as soon as its made. The restaurant has a great ambience - you get people dinning and at the same time the delivery guy restocking the fridge. There are no toilets in the restaurant - if you are disabled, you are allowed to use the local pub's lavatory, if you can climb stairs - there are ladies/gents next door (up a flight of maybe 25+ stairs) that are shared with a printing
studio located there. The prices were very reasonable and you feel well fed at the end of your meal. Ultimately, when you leave, all you want to do is to lift this place up and transport it to your local town/village, so you can enjoy this little piece of Italy more often than just when you are in Cardiff.

It was a very long time before any food appeared on our table. We arrived at 5:30 and it was 6:30 before our dishes arrived.
