g. g.Nice little outside seating area, situated actually on Cathedral Road, at the busier end of Pontcanna. Rush hour here may not be so nice though; Bumper-to-bumper, cars, billowing Satan's Black Wind into the immediate Breathing Atmosphere (and your facial pores). You know what to expect with these Chains' of expensive coffee places. Nothing outstanding, pleasent (on a sunny day) nonetheless!
P. J.Always a lovely place to relax for an hour over a coffee n cake lol. I gotta admit the staff make my run through black coffee to perfection always spot on. Always a friendly atmosphere and safe environment for children, it also helps to have attentive staff who are all very happy and it shows within the workplace Paul PRJPhotography
J. P.Very steamy on a wet day. Food was ok if over priced. My egg and mushroom bun was good but didn't look much for the money. Smoothies are nice and good value. Lettuce hardly worth the effort. Was good to get out for some fresh air!!
5.amazing little coffee shop! First time going with a friend and they have so many options and the prices are great too! Lovely atmosphere there, will definitely be returning soon! Lovely staff too highly recommend! :)

S. N.Overall this is a nice outlet. Personally I find the staff very friendly and nice. The coffee is generally good/decent as is the food.
It does get very busy at times and I think better use could be made of the space/seating as a result potentially.
My only minor complaint is at times, admittedly when busy, it can get a bit dirty with tables not cleared. Oh and if you want somewhere quiet it may not be for you - often a lot of loud children but given the area it's unavoidable.

S. b.Popped in here with my wife for coffee and cake after work on Wednesday. The cappuccino cake was delicious. Coffee was very nice and the lady that brought the coffee to our table was lovely to. Quality of cake in here is better than the cake in costa. Will definitely take my wife to this location again it was marvellous. Place was nice and clean to.

J. S.This little haven was open at 7.30 am! I was most impressed with the layout and look of the coffee shop. The selection and breakfast menu was really excellent. The staff were cheery and efficient. Breakfast porridge was really yummy and my Earl Grey was served in a pot which held just over three cups!!! Highly recommend this little shop of joy! Oh...and the loos were spotlessly clean!

J. R.This is one of our regular haunts when we come to visit our family whose house is just a few yards away. It never fails to give good service in a delightfully chaotic cafe setting. It is always cheerful and full of interesting people. It you like people watching then this is the place for you. The toasties are good too.
J. B.Nice place but cake was a bit stale and no soy options for coffee only oat and almond. So chose a smoothie which came in a small glass for 3.20 which I thought was a bit steep as its just frozen fruit. Lots of seating.

The coffee is great, especially flat whites. Usually have a porridge in the morning and it’s freshly done with fresh fruit too.
Only negative is phone signal, it’s very bad here and WiFi is unavailable. Would be 5 stars otherwise.
A. J. -. P.The cafe itself feels good. It's the local cafe and lots of people come there. Cake and other items looked really delicious and looked like homemade. However, was little bit disappointed with Spiced chai. The description itself said steamed milk with eastern spices and nutmeg and cinnamon however , there was lack of spice and didn't feel like it was spiced chai. A spiced chai should have a hint of chai meaning tea made in milk and spiced added to it. A very disappointed customer.
A. S.I found Coffee#1 a very pleasant environment and very comfortable. The staff were pleasant and the food and coffee were good if a little expensive. The staff did seem to have some difficulty operating the till though and overcharged my companion. It took a few minutes to resolve the problem as the lady serving us didn't speak fluent English but it all worked out fine when her colleague explained it to her in another language. The outside seating area is a bonus (especially if you're a smoker.) Despite the the till problem we had a pleasant morning and would go again. The difficulties are nothing that couldn't be ironed out with training.
D. A.I have been here twice and it's a very nice spot in pretty Pontcanna. Very close to Llandaff Fields so you can take your coffee to the park. I usually have filter coffee at Coffee #1 and it's one of the nicest filters i have had. However, I'm not a huge fan of their espresso, it's too bitter for me. Their Welsh cakes are amazing though! Fair warning, it can get very crowded on a nice day.
N.It's lovely and it's dog friendly. The staff are fab. Just wish they'd sort some decent ventilation for winter when the condensation makes it feel sticky - not a problem in summer obviously!
M. M.The first time I found out about Coffee #1 was when I came to Cardiff. It is miles better than the other coffee chains. It has a nice atmosphere and good selection of toasties and drinks.
The one drink you HAVE to try is a Cookie Cappuccino. Not all branches do it but it is better than any hazelnut or caramel coffee!

Wide range of cakes, pastries and other carb heavy baked goods, frequently changing selection of lunch options (including a few less-obesity inducing choices) and a selection of customisable coffees, from your bog standard espresso to your soy-milk decaf sugar-free syrup type lattes (not my thing). Bean, blend and roast of the month is available, as are single-estate options - frequently Ethiopian, Antiguan (Guatemalan) and so on. The friendly staff, including the theatrical Yannick and the operatic Ryan, will liven up your day. Highly recommend the pastel de nata.
V.Great coffee! Choc full of ambience though at present (5-Jul-2020) is only serving takeaways. ☕

K.Large clean coffee shop, they have a good selection of snacks, coffee and tea. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Parking can be difficult at peak times.
E. N.Coffee #1 is the best coffee chain in Cardiff. The coffee is good and their specialty coffee are so lush and the reason why I am probably going to develop diabetes at an early age.
