We were visiting from Bristol and after lunch we popped by Coffee Barker for a nice hot chocolate. Tom was extremely kind and welcomed us into the business and made us feel extremely comfortable. The ambiance is extremely nice and definitely cozy. The hot chocolate tasted nice.

Popped in here around 3:30pm for a snack and warm drink. Inside seating is quite low down. I assume due to time of day there was not much choice on the menu, hunters chicken panini it was, with a coffee for me and tea for the wife accompanied with a millionaire shortbread. All very nice, one of the best coffee's I have had in a shop for a long time.

Very cozy. I must admit it's my favourite coffee shop in Cardiff. The staff, coffee and music are very nice, however sometimes the music is a little bit too loud.

The atmosphere was amazing, great foods, decor and vibe was great. We had the nutella latte, which was so good I had it twice, the food overall was great although they made a mistake with the order where i paid for salmon and egg with toast but only got egg and bread, however it was still great tasting. Will so go there again. I should add the toilets were also lovely. If anyone does go there you have to try the nutella Latte. Its great!

Absolutely amazing breakfast! Highly recommend the porridge or granola bowl. For 4.99 (most places charge over 5/6 pounds) the portion is brilliant with fresh fruit to top it off. Coffee was very good too. Service was very quick, staff were lovely and seemed to enjoy working there which created a wonderful atmosphere

Our favourite breakfast stop. Get there before 10.30am and there's hardly any wait at all for your order to arrive. Staff are all nice, not overpriced. Best in Cardiff, in my opinion.

Really nice staff, love the decor and vibe, plus I had a delicious Honeycomb cake, but I would say that the team definitely need more staff, it looked like they were absolutely swept off their feet, which does slightly affect the chill vibes. Also beautiful toilets, I love it when an establishment cares about all the details! 😍

A great place to grab lunch and a Coffee while you are out and about in Cardiff at a reasonable price. The staff are friendly and helpful and they are inline with the current covid regulations, so its safe!. I would recommend the Toasted Panini ( Cheese and Tomato or Tuna Cheese ) as it comes with a surprisingly good tasting salad. The Coffee is of a good strength and not bitter, it has a nice froth and presented well with a saucer. Overall it's a great place to have lunch and we will call back again.

Been wanting to check this place out for a while and to be honest it's ok it does decent coffee the food is a lil over priced but then again when it comes to coffee shop food isn't it overpriced ??? What a fantastic find. Early morning coffee and breakfast was required! The food was fresh and tasty, coffee was hot and yummy. Each table had candles and the place was full of lush green plants mixed in with the original history of the building. Has a loo.

Been a while since I visited them, but the atmosphere is undeniably still as great as ever. A very kind lady sat me down after taking my details, commending me on my handwriting is always a plus in my book! I had to rely on the advice of a friendly member of staff (Ivan) pairing my Old Fashioned (Bourbon based) with a nice rum on the side. Their ice cubes with a slice of orange in them paired extremely well with both, kudos on that! The Old Fashioned, one of my favourite cocktails, has this extreme smoothness to it that I rarely get in other places. The slice of orange adds that slight citrus aroma which calms the palette rather than smearing it around the glass as is usual (but not here). All in all, you do pay a pretty penny for the more elegant cocktails but their finishing is of such quality that it's worth everything without questioning. The ability to sit in either the shade or sun is also important for me as I'm cursed with easily burned skin (haha).

This is precisely the place for me. It had a 1920s vibe, rustic but posh at the same time. We spend quite some time here on our holiday, and I can't say anything wrong. They serve tea in BIG teapots that are perfect for my obsession with peppermint. And the prices are reasonable, especially that we are in the city centre. Also, in the evenings, the gin and tonic are served in adorable old fashion glass that made me feel like I stepped back in time. Thank you for this fantastic experience. I will never forget, and this place will be an inspiration for my stories!

Was passing through town and spotted this place looking all cosy in the castle arcade, noticed they had milkshakes on the menu which was just what I needed at the time, and I didn't want to grab one from a chain restaurant, it's still important to support your locals! Covid restrictions in place, as I waited outside to be seen I noticed it looked like they were closing down for the evening so when the guy came out and I asked, he said that they were closing in ten minutes which was a shame as I'd have liked to sit inside, it looked really lovely in there, all warm and serene. He asked if I was just wanting a drink, so I mentioned the milkshake and asked if I could takeaway, which they do luckily. I ordered a small chocolate shake and he went back inside to sort for me. It was very kind of them to do so given that they were trying to close, he didn't have too. Only took a couple of minutes and he was back with my takeaway cup and payment machine - contactless payments accepted here. The milkshake itself was delish, it was the middle ground between a runny milk and a thick shake, perfect. It was very chocolatey without being too sweet, and it was nice and frothy from being whizzed up. A nice little treat to see me walking home back from town. Looking at the menu while I waited, you might say that they're a bit more pricey than other establishments, but if the rest of their food and drinks are anything like just the small milkshake I had, then it's totally worth it. And their customer service is obviously great as well.

What a lovely place to go for breakfast! I'm not normally a breakfast person at all but me and my boyfriend were out and about this morning and decided to give it a go, and wow I am impressed. The staff were incredible and it was a really cosy atmosphere inside. We both had the elvis toast with peanut butter, bacon, and maple syrup and it was amazing! Slightly expensive but we both left very happy gentlemen. And not to mention the gorgeous hot chocolate we ordered! Will definitely be returning soon!!

Most stunning coffee shop/bar in Cardiff. Absolutely love the shabby chic interior and leafy natural vibes. The coffees are incredible although the mocha was incredibly sweet. Really delicious homemade cakes and brownies, gluten free and vegan options available Perfect for a girly coffee or chilled out study sesh. I want to like this place. The distressed decor is effective, there is good bustle, and the price is right. The coffee is decent, the breakfast was decent, the cake was decent (though my company suspected it was defrosted), but the service really lets it down. Which isn't to say the staff are bad - they are friendly and seem to be working hard. But whether they're under-trained, the place is badly managed and under-staffed, the service drags this down to a sub par experience.

Fantastic Cardiff offering - I used to go to the original Coffee Barker in my uni days, and it expanded to the Teahouse and more in the years after. It can get packed during peak times (late mornings and lunch during the weekends), but it's definitely worth a visit if you can find a table. Just a nice, quaint cafe, set in the beautiful arcades.

Was a lovely cafe in one of the arcades, went in with my girlfriend and had one of the best hot chocolates and cheesecake brownies I've had in a long time. Sweet little tea shop in the heart of Cardiff. Pity there is not more in terms of a coffee option. That said loads of places with coffee close by. I went twice while in Cardiff and both times I think a glacier melted somewhere in the time it took for me to order. Staff are really nice but undertrained or understaffed or something (tables are cleared really slowly too). The coffee was fine. The ambience and decor is really pleasant and cosy, and the big chairs are comfy.

Great independent coffee shop right in the heart of Cardiff, and there's always plenty of great food on offer too. It can get a little busy here due to its ever-growing popularity, but this is really just a reflection that Coffee Barker is still providing something great. I'd recommend grabbing one of their made-in-house paninis/sandwiches which are always really generously filled and delicious. Okay-- it's not the cheapest place in Cardiff to visit, and maybe it is a little bit on the expensive side, but the environment and great quality food/drinks mean that they can kind of get away with this a bit.

Coffee Barker is the first stop for Mam and I when we head to Cardiff for a shopping day. Lovely, friendly staff in a gorgeous Cardiff arcade! We order the exact same every single time, avo on toast with roasted toms and a pot of tea! Super perfect! Also, love heading into Cardiff on a Sunday afternoon with my husband for a packet of Piper's crisps and a coffee! Just a lush coffee shop with a gorgeous vibe!

Had my usual fantastic bacon butty today but noticed you can buy a hot drink for a homeless person. This is the first time I've seen this in Cardiff. Coffee Barker should be congratulated for the initiative.
