I've never met such a devoted man to his passion of cooking PROPER food. Not you general cafe, but beautiful hand made food made with total passion about how it looks and tastes. Such a delightful place, very much worth a visit or two. I enjoyed his banter with his customers and his life stories of how life was for him growing up as a child.

This man is a chef genius! The passion Lee has for cooking is contagious and in the few short minutes I was at Cafe Belissimo I could see that the love for food is a part of this mans being! I've been here a couple of times now, and both times Lee was a brilliant host! The food was delicious and the service couldn't be faulted. I even got to try my first ever cannoli which was delicious. It is a small cafe, so can get busy, but that's just a sign of how good it is. If in the area, this is a lovely place for breakfast or lunch. They have vegan options if that is your thing too.

Brilliant place to visit. Drove to Colchester Saturday from Norfolk. Visited at 8.30am and had the best breakfast and coffee. Food was lovely, coffee was fab and the manager was very helpful and really nice. Have already recommended to my friends in Colchester. Great place to eat.

I love eating in Cafe Bellissimo! The food is great and I enjoy the banter with Lee! I no longer get live in Colchester but I will try and visit whenever I am in the area. I love the vegetarian lasagne but normally have to ore-order it a few days in advance (but it’s great as a take-out).

Excellent cafe that prides itself on the quality of its food - and rightly so. I had a full English breakfast with fresh free range eggs, granary toast spread with good butter, good coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. All prepared by the owner who has a passion for good food. Sicilian\ Italian food also available. No corners are cut. Only top notch food on your plate. It's a cafe but most definitely this is NOT a greasy spoon.

This is a great little cafe, the menu has a wide range of choice, the homemade Italian meatballs are a definite to try. The owner is friendly and the cafe is very clean. A lot of pride is taken here in the food and cleanliness and it shows, even down to sweeping the street outside I noticed. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the areaz

A mate said to me, next time you come to Colchester I'll take to this place that does some cracking food... And I wasn't disappointed. Absolutely fantastic in every way, lovely authentic real Sicilian food, great food, great coffee, the owner is an amazing person, with a real passion for his food. There is something for all foodies. Atmosphere and feel is like a little bit of Sicily in Colchester. I stayed for 6 hours waiting for my van to be ready, and it was consistently "Bellissimo"...Highly recommend people to make a stop here, if they are in Colchester or nearby. Best place I have eaten in years. I will definitely be back with friends.

I came across Cafe Bellissimo Friday morning August 7th 2020. I had been walking in the park at the top of the road and just wondered if there was anywhere nearby where I could get a coffee. I thought, I will just go down to the junction and peer up and down the street, and if there is nothing there, then no worries. I wasn't going to go into Colchester and start searching. Got to the junction, looked across and there was the wonderful word: Bellissimo on the shopfront!! I went in, ordered my coffee and started talking with Lee, the chef and owner. It was one of those rare occasions ( for me anyway) where we seemed to have some very similar views about various things. He was honest, passionate about good, properly prepared food, and a good sense of humour - just like human beings can and should be!! I wasn't ready to eat there and then, so got Lee to make a vegetarian selection to take away in a foil container. I also had some cake to take away. I've just consumed this food at home, and OMG it is BELLISSIMO!! I thoroughly reccomend beating the proverbial path to the door of this Cafe. Although parking is not, apparently, readily available very near the Bellissimo Cafe, it would certainly be worth parking safely near by and walking there (or biking). Just think, you would be getting some exercise, and a nice reward of good food and a 'home from home' atmosphere! Thank you Lee for sharing your company, and passion for good food.

Wow what a fantastic place! Such lovely friendly service and the food was amazing! Had roasted vegetable and cheese panini with a very tasty cannoli for a sweet treat after!
