This place is a gem! You can have truly fantastic coffee and house-made pastries at the lively outdoor seating area or comfortable coffee shop seating upstairs. On top of that, there is a rotating menu of delicious lunch items, and a fresh produce and local meat counter available from the adjoining butcher shop. You can even pick up other locally made items including loaves of sourdough. The owner brings her ex-chef sensibilities and attention to detail to every aspect of this business, and it shows in the excellent range of offerings. Do yourself a favour and drop in for a pastel de nata!

Just bought 2 chicken kebabs which I took home to stir fry. It was awesome. Unlike the rubbish marinades you get in most places the guys had produced a master stroke somehow and we had an amazing meal. The butchers is stocked with lots of great meat some of which you can buy in the cafe like sausage rolls made from local meets. This place is different with the owner making the chairs and tables and this makes the difference. The local florist even provides beautiful flowers for the tables. From the places I come from where everything is the same we love the differences.

Wonderfully presented meat counter with the most knowledgable butcher, the passion for the craft and provenance really shines through.
Exceptional meat that I watched being expertly prepared for me, with a side of pro cooking tips to boot!
The coffee served here is perfection and paired with handmade pastel de nata, particularly the ones with the added raspberry makes for a top notch breakfast to round off your shopping trip….. we even came back for late lunch after reading the menu… Sherry braised pigs cheeks with roasted granny smith apples, who could resist?! Nothing like this place in the area, they’re on to a winner here!

Finally made it down to this cute little place earlier this week and it did not disappoint. We had such a lovely, warm welcome and service from Lauren, enjoyed great coffee and of course, the divine homemade pasteles de nata. Thank you Roast Caffe, we'll be back soon!

I love everything about this place. It’s great having access to fresh and ethical meat, and the knowledge of the staff is really great and encourages you to try new things. The creative meal deal ideas and diy date night kits make me want to spend all my money on meat! I pick up ox heart and lamb heart from there and have never been pressured into spending more, which I appreciate, but after eyeing the gorgeous t-bones last week during my pick up, I’ve already placed an order for two for Valentines Day! The staff are really great to chat too and often have great ideas for recipes and other things to try - can’t recommend more!

Totally brilliant idea a really great butcher and vegetable shop with local produce and a cafe with excellent coffee and other drinks plus food. The Wivenhoe Butchers is in route 52 for cyclists and I can recommend all cyclists passing by this place a give it a shot! Possible Routes from Cafe you can ride to Harwich, Ride to pretty Dedham or cross on person bike ferry from Brightlingsea to Mersey Island. Wivenhoe itself is a pretty village/town sometimes likened to a south Cornwall village.

The food and coffee is top restaurant quality, but much more relaxed! They're so good with our kids - they beg us to go, which we always very happily oblige.
