Reviews of Tiptree Tea Room, Museum and Jam Shop
K. C.
This was a lovely place to end our weekend away.
You do have to queue if you would like a table in the tearoom but they have chairs in the queue area.
The scones are worth the wait! They cater for gluten free and dairy free options, too.
The jam museum and shop are a must to look round before you leave.
D. B.
Visited as we were in the area.
We were greeted by a friendly member of staff at the entrance and opted to sit outside in the garden which is lovely.
The weather was superb and the food was OK but nothing to write home about however for the prices it was good quality. Some staff are friendly others are a bit reserved and quiet.

Always Great Food and Service
The wife and I visit here bimonthly and have done for over two decades.
The food is always fresh and wholesome and the service is mostly top notch.
Even when they’re packed out the door, the service rarely disappoints.
On this particular visit, we went for the massive ploughman’s and several sandwich’s. All was marvellous and we look forward to returning again soon.

We visited here for the first time on Saturday lunchtime for a bite to eat and a mooch around the museum and shop.
We opted for two Farmhouse Ploughman’s lunches, which left a lot to be desired. We’d customised them as I don’t like pickles and so swapped it for something else, but they’d made this incorrectly. Not a big deal, but the food itself wasn’t really anything worth £14 each. One slightly stale half-baguette with a mound of lettuce, a few small bits of salad, two slices of ham, a cube of cheese and two grapes with a scotch egg on the side.
Massively regret not getting the afternoon tea for two which looked a hell of a lot more appetising.
The shop however was lovely and well stocked. The prices are incredibly reasonable and I purchased a few of their mini jars to try some of the other products.
Then we went into the museum which is laid out in a large room behind the cafe, and walks you through the history of Wilkin & Sons from day one to present day. Really interesting and fun to see the changes and development throughout the years.
Overall we had a nice day but I wouldn’t return due to the poor food experience.
p. d.
They were very busy and had to queue for about 15 minutes, we only wanted a cappuccino which was very good, staff were polite and pleasant, there is the jam shop selling a wide range of jams plus the museum you can walk round and see the history of John Wilkin Collection of jam making, the museum is only on a small scale but well worth a visit.
Would highly recommend.
C. W.
Most interesting small museum telling the history of the family who started the jam factory in 19th century . Then we enjoyed delicious lunch in the restaurant.
J. H.
Great service and food was decent as well! We especially loved the toasties and cakes but the scones could have been a bit better. Cute little tea room though and once again, great service from start to finish.
L. W.
Museum free. Lovely to see the old machinery and way of doing things. Excellent lunch at the tea room. Well stocked shop. Very plesant and enjoyable
E. S.
I love this place & meet up with a friend here every so often, as it's roughly half-way between where we live. Food is delicious & well presented. Staff are always friendly, helpful & polite. If you haven't booked well in advance, turn up early, as there is a queueing system. Interesting museum to visit & a lovely shop, which is great to buy gifts from (not just jams & chutneys) in the lead up to Christmas! I highly recommend this place.
M. E.
Lovely tea room & friendly staff. Prices were very affordable and the food and drinks were tasty.
S. K.
Had afternoon tea for my birthday. Everything was fresh and presented really well and there hot chocolate drink is one of the best I've had in a long while.
G. B.
Absolutely delicious afternoon tea for two. The sandwiches were made to order so we had exactly what we wanted. The scones and cakes were lovely and we were even offered a 'doggy box' to take home what we couldn't eat for supper.
F.
Had a wonderful time at the team rooms. My wife and I shared an afternoon tea - the sandwiches, scones and cakes were all delicious and the staff were lovely. We also picked up some tasty bits from the ship, plus my wife got a handbag which she loves. Looking forward to returning.
S. M.
Had a lovely morning of catching up with a friend who treated me to a coffee and a teacake before we looked round the museum. My first time at the tearoom and staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. Definitely coming back again but for more than just a snack next time.
A. F.
Lovely tea room and gift shop with a special little extra free museum room attached to the tea room telling the story of the Tiptree Jam factory and its owners, with some nice artifacts. Cafe staff lovely and there's a new secret garden providing lots of outdoor seating in a gazebo. Prices a little steep but no more than most places these days. Plenty of parking and more artifacts from times gone by outside displayed as well. Gift shop nice with lots of jam related items that I haven't seen elsewhere. Also provides a personalised gifting service and some fresh produce too. Can get busy, but well worth a visit.
i. J.
Excellent place to visit - never miss going to Tiptree Jam factory on eveey visit to London
J. R.
Always a lovely place to go for lunch and afternoon tea. Staff always polite and helpful. Not had chance to visit the museum, but the shop is brilliant with a very good selection of preserves, chutneys, flavoured Gins, candles, diffusers etc. Well worth the visit.
J. W.
Stopped here for a bite to eat on our way up to Norfolk. The food was lovely and fresh and tasted amazing. Ploughmans was tasty and the fruit scones, jam and cream were lovely - probably the nicest we’ve had in a while.
The only reason for the 4 star rather than 5 star review is because the service was really protracted and slow and really could do with an improvement.
M. S.
Visited here a few times over the years. Never fails to disappoint. Staff are friendly, food is nice and the place is always clean. Good gift shop and an interesting museum. Plenty of parking. Just wish they would make loganberry jam 😟
A. H.
Went on a bus trip today. Not at all what I was expecting. Lovely day, interesting farm tour, great cream tea. Beautiful surroundings and attention to the environment.Must go again!
A. M.
The food here is fantastic and all looks and tastes freshly made. The service is excellent and staff work hard. It does get extremely busy at lunch and there are queues but it's because the food is so good with many daily specials on offer along with the standard menu.
S. Y.
This is a great place for lunch and staff was very friendly. The afternoon cream tea was a great gift and absolutely delightful!
We also dropped into the shop and there are so many jams and chutneys to try! Can’t wait to go back!
S. G.
A great place to visit to stock up on my favourite Little Scarlet jam and buy some unique presents. Lovely to visit a family company not owned by a massive conglomerate. I particularly enjoyed the museum showing the history of the site and the machinery used historically to prepare the fruit. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of parking. We would of liked to have a tractor ride and eat in the café but Coronavirus restriction’s understandably prevented this. The air smells of jam outside! Yum.
J. C.
Lovely little place - Shop, Museum and Tea Room, well setup for COVID19 restrictions, superb afternoon cream tea in the garden, got the dog some water and biscuits as well!
The shop has an enormous selection of Jams, Jellies, Fruit liquers and candles, top quality stuff!"
D. T.
Lovely little free museum, gift shop and not over priced, great lunch, plenty of it, very tasty homemade food, fair price for the lunch, 2 ploughman's, 4 drinks, 1 dessert £43.
K. S.
Unfortunately it was raining heavily when we visited so we didn't have a chance to looked around the farm. There is plenty of parking spaces here. There is a shop to left when you enter selling a wide range of their products as well as a many other lines. Some of the products are available in the supermarket and a bit cheaper but there are a lot of items I have never seen before.you could spend a fortune in her it looks delicious Great gift ideas too. There are tea rooms to the left of the entrance. There is a fair amount of seating available but it was very busy. There were 6of us in our group and we ordered afternoon tea. It was very nice £30 for 2 people .select 2 sandwiches from the menu with cakes and pastries. Unlimited tea so you soon fill up. The little museum is at the end of the cafe with lots of information and a video to watch. It was very interesting. Allow a couple of hours to look at the museum and have tea, more if you are doing the farm tour. This only operates on certain days
A. D. A.
Lovely cream tea in the light and airy Marquee.
B. O.
We visited the tea room for a quick cream tea. Waited at the entrance to be seated, staff were very nice and friendly. Tables were spaced out to ensure social distancing rules were adhered to. Scones were amazing - warm, moist and fresh. Definitely recommend visiting the team room if you are in the area.
S. S.
Sorry for the food photos. Only remembered to photograph half way through.
We had an excellent family meal here. Mostly from the specials board. Everything was well presented and more importantly tasty. Portion sizes were fair without being huge. Certainly whilst not cheap, it offered value for money.
The staff were very friendly and efficient. Two highlights were Emma and Julia (who brought us our "plates of happiness aka English Tea).
The scones were very good and of course all the condiments were Tiptree.
Overall, we would drive the hour to visit again so that should put into context how much we enjoyed our experience.
The shop has lots of goodies to purchase and the museum is worth a good 15 minutes of your time before or after your meal but not worth a drive in itself.
M.
Lovely tea for two. Seating and service was a little slow. Not at all the fault of the people serving who were kind and friendly. Just need more staff at rush hour. Shop is well stocked with an enormous variety of preserves, some of which you may not have heard of let alone tasted. We did not have time for the museum unfortunately.
R. W.
Cream tea really nice , staff okay.... surroundings just okay , think average garden centre cafe ,could really do with investing in the experience which would enhance the brand
A. Q.
Went today with my day centre nice place not too far from London to visit about 1 hour away but expensive to eat der
D. W.
Great shop with loads of produce and excellent service. Got our son a bottle of Tiptree Raspberry Gin with He's own label. Coffee shop was busy and it had only just opened for the morning. Nice Coffee, good parking facilities. Great home- made Cakes and Jam!!!
E. L.
Great tea room with indoor and outdoor seating. Ample onsite parking. Clean restrooms. Lovely free small history museum on the side. Interesting small shop with all products and gifts to buy.
K. H.
Lovely place to visit although we turned up just after 11am, they had finished serving breakfasts but weren't serving lunch until 12. Cream scones were lovely. Try the shop as well, treat yourself to some gin!
P. M.
Great homecooked lunch in the cafe. Very friendly service and the special is good value. Cherry crumble and custard was wonderful and warming. Worth a visit.
S. M.
I was in Jam heaven! After spending my money on jams and gins in the shop, we had a lovely Toastie lunch in the tea room. With every plate that went by we knew we will have to come again soon! Locally sourced and made on the premises, our Ham and Cheese Toastie was perfect. The Tiptree Mustard had just the right amount of kick to jazz our sandwich up a notch! Perfect afternoon delight, can't wait to return!
S.
We had a bit of a wait for our table but we had a lovely lunch. Very fresh and delicious. Our cream tea was yummy. My daughter enjoyed dressing up at the museum and exploring what there was to see. The shop has a vast array of foodie items and gifts.
E. O.
Lovely tea rooms and tasty food! Best place for scones and Jam and afternoon tea lookes amazing so will be back for one of those. Atmosphere is nice and the waiting time wasn't to long
M. G.
We had a dessert in the Secret Garden. It was delicious and reasonably priced.
j. l.
Wonderful afternoon tea with friends. There is a good choice of sandwich filling , the scones fresh and delicious and the cakes divine. The Vegan options, are according to my friend, are superb
S. C.
Good to visit usualy.take guests as there's lots to look at.friendly n sweet tearoom. Would b good if shop sold modern novelties in with the jams n bags etc.
S. M.
Yum yum. Delicious home made scones, jam and cream. Charming location. Fabulous gift shop.
S. A.
Lovely cream tea - couldn’t fault it. Nice museum to get a feel for the history behind the brand. Wish they would do a factory tour though.
E. B.
Quick afternoon tea, sandwiches made fresh, with the choice of fillings.
Scones were still warm, selection of cakes
Unlimited tea or coffee
R. M.
We were a party of 5 , very happy with the quality and quantity of the food, 2 of our party had prosecco and beer, the rest soft drinks, spent a bit of time in the museum, and the shop , plenty of jams, marmalade, and quite a few gin based items , all for under £25 per person, the clearing away could have been quicker, but thoroughly enjoyed our visit
B. F.
We love it here and although its a bit of a drive for us we visit here as often as we can
The food is good and staff are lovely
g. s.
Fabulous cream tea very interesting museum
D. C.
What a great find and we'll worth a visit. If you have time book in for a Cream Tea you won't be disappointed
C. C.
Lovely afternoon tea, especially as you could pick the sandwiches you want! Never leave this place hungry and the shop is really cute with some products you can’t find elsewhere.
C. M.
We went for afternoon tea at the tearooms yesterday and it was fantastic! Great quality and lots of food- excellent value. I spoke with Ryan D on the phone before arriving and he gave me detailed information about local roadworks which were really helpful on our journey. When we arrived he also served us, he was a great host, really accommodating and super friendly/ helpful! Thank you for a really lovely day out!
d. l.
A great little place to visit the small museum is free. You can arrange do a guided tour. Still inexpensive as attractions go these days.
K. U.
The staff in the Tea Room were very attentive, kind and also observant to make sure we were greeted, seated and served promptly. Nice selection of hot food, cakes and daily specials. The shop is also very cute and laid out well, which makes it welcoming, but the staff weren't as friendly as the tea room staff.
D. B.
Visited today with my partner and my Mum. Food was lovely. (We had
- bacon and brie toasties
- coronation turkey sandwiches
followed by
- choc fudge with ice cream
- lemon meringue pie with cream/ice cream)
Feedback for staff: ensure cutlery and condiments (salt and pepper) are readily available on the table.
Museum is interesting.
Also visited the shop ... lots of goodies on offer!
P. B.
It was our first visit. It won't be our last. Great food, great service and a lovely setting.
F. S.
Really delicious and good value lunch, interesting museum, really good gift shop. Would just like them to put up a sign telling you to go up to the till to pay! :)
C. S.
Lovely shop, full of lots to buy!! Museum tells you lots about the history of the factory and the family. Didn't visit the tea room but it looked delicious! Well worth a visit to this place.
S. C.
Took my Dad here for lunch on Father's Day, we had to queue outside for over half an hour but was expected as an 'occasion day' and less tables available inside due to social distancing.
Once seated we enjoyed a fabulous lunch of sandwiches and also had a cream tea , staff are very helpful and offered advice when asked. Although there was still a queue outside we were not rushed to leave which was lovely.
Definitely worthwhile taking a look at everything in the museum, very interesting.
The shop was very well stocked and we made a purchase of several different jams , which are delicious .
Highly recommended afternoon out . We both thoroughly enjoyed it.
N. B.
Visited today and was greeted with a really friendly lady who took our names down on a waiting list to eat. Shown to our table and pretty much the service deteriorated from there.
Ordered two cream teas and cakes for the kids. Drinks were served five minutes before the scones and cakes and wrong scones brought but quickly swapped when asked.
Overall food was good, service could have been a bit friendlier especially if the waitress who served our food could have been as good as the lady meeting and greeting who was very pleasant.
Good good, service needs a bit of work, value slightly overpriced.
K. M.
A nice place to visit and learn about the origins and development of the factory at Tiptree. A small but interesting display of various historical pieces of equipment with information. There's also a short video which was good.
The cafe is quite nice, table service which was good. Nice homemade scones, spoilt by microwave heating instead of in the oven, a shame. Nice coffee.
The place smelled lovely, of chutney and jam today 😋.
B. C.
Very nice cafe, all socially distanced, great menu, polite efficient staff. Shop well stocked with all the Tiptree products. Museum really good.
H. D.
Fabulous food, friendly welcoming staff. Service a bit slow and reminders required but this was probsbly due to it being very busy. Would visit again.
K. M.
Loved the food and service. Servers were really friendly. Will definitely go again.
T. B.
Wilkin and sons products are amazing. So the afternoon tea would never let the taste buds down ...this place can get rather busy and sometimes there is a waiting time to be seated ... Limited outside seating area as well which is a shame in the summer ... But as for taste 10/10
A. E.
Really lovely place with great food but service was the only downside. Food came at different times and one was forgotten until we reminded them by which time the tea was cold.
H. J. J.
Fantastic place to go! My mum loved it! We loved reading the history of the place!
E. B.
Great welcome and service by Becky, the afternoon tea options were grand! Brilliant that Tiptree Wilkin & Sons are able to showcase some of their most popular products on the tiered tray!
We'll have to come back for their breakfast which we notice they also do! Carry on the good work, and merry Christmas to the lovely tearoom team!
C. D.
Had lovely Prawn Jacket which was really full. Slightly disappointed that the mixed leaf accompaniment turned out to be strips of ice berg lettuce, rather than tasty leaves 😒
G. L.
Waited nearly 18 months to be able to use our gift of afternoon cream tea voucher due to covid restrictions.
We did book in advance but still had to queue up outside with all those that hadn't got a reservation.Shown to a table that hadn't been cleared, but someone came to take our orders, sadly they had run out of our first choice of sandwiches, pot of tea arrived, very nice. Cream tea items arrived 25 minutes later,by which time we were very hungry!
Two of the four plates had two chips on them...we asked for those to be changed.
Sandwiches only had filling across the centre, none on the outer edge's
, and served with crusts on.
All in all not the standards we used to enjoy at Tiptree jams tea rooms, very disappointed.
M. J.
I love this place.
Lovely friendly staff.
They serve delicious cream teas, sandwiches and fabulous afternoon teas. There's an indoor restaurant and garden with tables too.
The museum is very interesting and the shop has every flavour jam you can think of.
We all visit when we come south to see our son and daughter in law in Maldon.
C. P.
Absolutely fantastic beautiful place to visit oh yes and there's so many different jam's and liqueurs
D. B.
Very tasty afternoon tea. Delicious scones & cream
P. H.
Went for afternoon tea, very pleasant staff friendly and helpful , cream tea was lovely, we had standed one, but a seasonal version was available, this would make a great gift. There is a shop with jams, pickles and more, and also a small museum,. All made a great afternoon out
S. B.
The new marquee was lovely to sit in whilst enjoying afternoon tea with friends. All the staff are lovely, really friendly and helpful
J. S.
Lovely tea rooms very interesting on site museum and of course the Tiptree jam shop
S. C.
Lovely visit to the Tiptree Tea Room (1.9.2021) for Afternoon Tea for two (£30). There was about a 10 minute wait to be seated (tea room is set up to be Covid safe). Friendly servers and service was fast. Everything prepared to order, and was very fresh. Jams and pickles amazing. Highly recommended.
S. V. S.
Amazing food and history worth understanding...visit Museum...
d.
Although not everything was open it was still a nice place to relax, museum was nice too 😊
Y. K.
Very interesting jam factory museum detailing the history of the business with plenty of exhibits and an informative video. The tea rooms are nice but, with limited seating due to Covid, the wait can be a while; we waited about 40 minutes but it was well worth it. Delicious lunches, snacks, cream teas - table service with helpful, attentive staff. The shop, selling everything the factory produces plus some gift items like soaps, candles and biscuits, is well worth a visit. Plenty of free parking.
S. R.
Great value. Cream tea for £7.50.. mmmmmmm
M. J.
Lovely cream tea
K. A.
Perfect little shop for all you jam needs! And the yummiest cream tea in the tea rooms! We got ours as a takeaway. They even do a gluten free option!
G. S.
Excellent food and service at reasonable prices 👌
I. B.
Lovely place to visit and a lovely cream tea.
I. R.
Besides the unusual wait outside in the freezing cold and rain, due to COVID restrictions quite correctly, it was a very pleasant afternoon cream tea for two in this very reputable and highly respectable tea Room. Loved it, highly recommended, very historic, will go again soon
N. W.
What a beautiful way to spend a couple of hours. A small museum, a well stocked shop and then to the tea room. 2 of us had lunch, jacket potatos with salad, and the other 2 had afternoon tea, which was an absolute delight. The coffee was great. The staff are very attentive, going the extra mile. We shall return.
S. B.
Lovely surrounding lovely food had afternoon tea 🍵🍵
R. H.
The selection of sandwiches for afternoon tea was great and they were delicious to eat. The cakes and scones we had were a little dry but the world famous strawberry jam was, as always, delightful.
P. G.
Just enjoyed a delicious sparkling afternoon tea whilst staying away for a week locally. Interesting jam museum through the ages… lovely cafè very attentive staff… the shop has everything made at Tiptree including jam, sauces, gin , vodka etc very interesting.
M. L.
I have visited Tiptree Tea Room several times and have not been disappointed once. The food in the tea room is so scrumptious and really moreish (hence the multiple visits!) As well as this the shop is fabulous with a vast array of delicious jams and more. I will definitely be back again!
P. M.
As a member of a coach party I had a generous and delicious cream tea
S. P.
Have enjoyed a few afternoon teas here, sadly this time disappointed. Our group found the sandwiches to be very fresh, the cakes were rather dry and we had to chase up for drinks to be served .
D. S.
Roadworks around the entrance caused a lot of frustration as the signs forced you to approach from the other direction, which ever direction you took!! We had a cream tea which was good. Nice shop there too.
B. R.
Great food value for money. Will gladly go back
M. V.
Afternoon Tea is decent, no all day breakfast option. Nice little museum to walk around and lots of preserves and spirits in the shop
S. D.
Always a pleasure to visit. Our Number 1 choice for a cream tea. The meals are also of high quality and very good value. Plenty of room between the tables and the service is excellent. Large car park with a few steps to gain access to both the restaurant and shop. Toilets are level access from the restaurant. The shop is well stocked. A visit to the museum is also worth a look. We have not as yet taken the full tour of the factory itself.
A. A.
We had a gorgeous afternoon tea. Lovely service, always with a smile (even through a mask!). And the food was incredible, everything was fresh and in the right portions... although we had to take home the cakes in a box. Highly recommended!
Just be prepared for a little wait on busy days
M. E.
As with all Tiptree tea rooms you know what you will get when you come here. Not only a wonderful selection of Jam and preserves, but also a well tailored menu of cream teas and desserts in a nice cafe environment.
Unlike other tea rooms though this also has a museum dedicated to the history of the Tiptree jam, as well as a large shop where you can get virtually any flavour or type of Jam and preserves product. The museum is well worth a wander round and the shop a peruse.
All in all it was a real treat to visit, and with a stroll on the Tiptree heath afterwards, a lovely lunch out without the kids.
A. C.
Absolutely gorgeous. Food and staff amazing
p. t.
Nice bit of history walking around the museum, but you have to queue for the cafe, as too busy on the weekends.
M. R.
Fabulous all round!! Only fault was that tried prebooking, but no one answered the phone. Tried more than once as well. So had to queue for about 20mins. Which we were warned about and accepted. Will definitely book next time.
J. C.
I cannot recommend this place enough. I visited with a good friend for afternoon tea and was thoroughly impressed with both the quality of the food and the service. There was a slight queue upon arrival, but it moved very quickly, so I would recommend getting there early. We chose our sandwiches from the menu then devoured the delicious scones and cakes. The tea room is such a lovely setting for an afternoon tea and I can’t wait to visit again!!
J. B.
Went for afternoon tea, the staff are fantastic, the food delicious and the shop wonderful, if you're passing by please go in, you won't be disappointed.
C. J.
A much for lovers of jam
J. D.
A wonderful day with friends, we treated ourselves to the prosecco afternoon tea
Plenty of sandwich filling choices
Cakes were lively
Scones amazing
With of course the best jam and relishes to complement the choices made.
Absolute value for money and would highly recommend.
C. e.
An enjoyable afternoon tea and stocking up with our jam and marmalade supply
m.
Very good service enjoyed the secret garden. Food was excellent my wife enjoyed the chocolate fudge cake. The shop was well stocked with tempting jams, gin, chutneys and other.
D. G.
The museum is small but still very interesting. We had tea and scones on arrival, which were lovely and fresh, warm too, served with butter and jam. very polite friendly table service, couldn't fault it. We went into town and came back for lunch. Very busy restuarant but still had good service, couldn't fault the meal we had.
M. S.
This is an extremely popular venue. The museum is very well laid out. We had to queue for a table for lunch as we had been unable to book a table in time but the queue went down very quickly. Morning coffee and lunch was very nice. Nice gift shop even though a little bit expensive.
C. H.
Lovely little tea room with easy access for disabled
L. B.
me and my partner came here for a high tea and it was delicious did not disappoint value for money. loved the shop where you can pick up a nice selection of jams and other gifts
D. S.
Quality products. Not cheap but you get what you pay for
P. E.
We hadn't visited this Tea Room for over ten years and hoped it was still the same. It was as we remembered with neatly dressed waiting staff, clean tables, efficient service and a comfortable atmosphere. The only thing that had changed was my wife who is now gluten intolerant. But no problem there was many gluten free options including most importantly the scones. We both had a hot lunch but left room for the scones, jam and clotted cream, wonderful. Then we popped into their museum, there is also tours of their farm available.
F. S.
Aww love this place,. We bought some of Tiptree Vodka liquers at a festival, then bought many online since. It was so nice to see them in person, then tried some of their other products at their shop. I have such high expectations that it will be like Christmas. The build up is better than the event. Can't wait to try my raspberry jam , apricot , morello cherry conserve ( do I spread it or try it in a coulis )and chocolate spread Lovely lunch .Thick slice quiche Lorraine and salad. Lush. Wife had fresh ham, 2 fried eggs and fries. I could have ate hers as well. Please try it
M. D.
Charming tea room, museum and shop adjoining the factory where the jams and preserves are made. The shop is stocked with various items made in-house as well as confectionary, candles and other gifts. Friendly staff and quality jams. Various car parking spaces that are free for visitors.
M. P.
Lovely little tea room, the food was amazing too. Had to buy some of the conserves and chutneys in the shop afterwards as they were that nice! The museum is also quite interesting, definitely don't need too long to walk around so worth a little peak.
D. G.
Lovely little museum, good Cafe and lovely shop
The Museum was free to enter - a good sized area room with various interesting pieces of the Factor and area history. Good exhibits with clear information. Really interesting.
We had morning tea in the Cafe. Freshly baked scones with proper Clotted Cream and, of course, TipTree Jam! Really a treat. Good service, a range of meals available as well as cakes.
The factory shop had so many lovely jams to choose from. We may have enough Jam for the next year now - but I am looking forward to trying them all! Also in the shop were some spirits (Gins and Vodkas), as well as some really nice locally produced items.
D. G.
Brilliant. Attentive staff, clean, food was amazing.... We will be back
S. H.
What can I say? Wonderful place, delicious food and great shop. The cream tea is divine, the scones are perfect, and the massive helping of clotted cream and jam go down a treat. The specials are also particularly nice and there's usually a special ploughman's available.
Usually quite busy so you might need to pick your time, though the waits have never been too bad, and the staff do what they can to move tables and accommodate people as quickly as possible.
The little shop to the side is particularly nice, all the preserves you can count, gins, jams, spreads, neat snacks, and (strangely) tiptree candles.....
P. P.
Lovely place to go for an excellent lunch. The museum is worth checking out and the shop is stocked with all my favourite Wilkins & Son products. These include jams and jellies made with old English fruits like crab apple and quince. These are hard to find elsewhere
j. m.
First class tea. Great choice of sandwiches, I chose ham my husband chose cheese, plenty of filling and very tasty. Cakes were delicious as was the scone, strawberry jam and clotted cream. All served with as much tea or coffee as we required. The staff were friendly and service was quick. Very impressed will definitely be back. We rounded the afternoon off with a shopping spree.
Can certainly recommend.
B. M.
Lovely food and very friendly staff amazing
S. m.
This is a great little museum showing a interesting insight of how it all started.
Definitely worth a visit.
The jam shop is packed with lot's of different products.
I couldn't help myself and purchased a few bits.
V. G.
Really lovely. Best bacon sandwich and the tomato sauce was the best I have ever tasted. We had a lovely portion each of tangy lemon cake which was mouth watering. The staff were extremely attentive and it was wonderful service. Will definitely visit again soon.
B. C.
Nice and quaint tearoom with good cream tea and free, interesting museum attached to the tearoom. Gift shop also next to the tearoom where you can purchase authentic Tiptree jam. Please note: closing time for both gift shop and tearoom is 5pm sharp.
R.
Lovely place. Plenty of free parking. Huge shop full of jam, marmalades, gift boxes, chocolate spreads, candles smelt amazing. A free museum about how they make the jam and a good video. Tea room is amazing loads of lovely food. Looked big portions. We ordered and afternoon tea. Lovely soft scones could choose your own sandwich. And lovely little cakes. Staff were very friendly but it was very busy. We went on a Sunday you can't book a table so maybe get there early.
T. R.
Brilliant service from the team and excellent high tea. Do visit the museum and take a look at the old farm 🚜 equipment
S. D.
A great tea room and shop. We'll worth a visit
E. C.
Lovely shop and cafe, worth a visit.
S. s.
1st time we visited this quaint place. We had a wonderful breakfast there. The staff were very friendly. Loved walking around the museum. Spent some money on the jams in the shop and got some gifts. It was clean and a joy to visit. We plan on coming back again in a few months.
P. C.
Lovely tea and sandwiches will certainly visit again
B. N.
Third time I've visited here. Really love the place - this time I brought a friend from London, who really enjoyed learning about the history in he museum. The tea room is lovely and cosy with a good buzz.
I would highly recommend you visit the shop, there are a ton of gifts that aren't available in many places.
R. M.
I always buy their gin in supermarkets, its cheaper than the shop. Shame really.
G. T.
Love the ploughman's, and a great cake selection. Always friendly service.
V. N.
Wonderful in the tea room hot chocolate was as ordered really hot and the cakes were devine, the shop was excellent very tempting to buy more but did get some of our favourites! Well worth the visit and wont leave our next visit for quite as long again.
S. S.
Good customer service and good quality food .
D. A. W.
Lovely sparkling afternoon tea at Tiptree today! Staff were just lovely and the shop was packed full of great gift ideas.
K. T.
Nice shop and the tea room is good. I understand why they don't take bookings due to the pandemic etc but this means you have to be prepared to wait and queue for either the shop or the tea room.
S. M.
Nice food, friendly staff and quick service. My scone was a bit of a strange shape but tasted great and 100% home made.
S. F.
Great friendly service and excellent food. Afternoon tea was delicious
M. T.
We came in for afternoon tea it was delicious. Friendly staff. Will be coming back again
I. P.
Very good tea room, nice sandwiches and cakes and can highly recommend their ploughman's (excellent). Good coffee and teas. Gets extremely busy, especially around lunchtime so best to arrive early to avoid waiting in a queue. Plenty of car parking. Gift shop stocking all Tiptree products and more.
K. K.
Lovely food! Lovely staff! Cute shop with some nice products, from jams to diabetic sweets to fashion accessories. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is relaxed. Highly recommend.
T. M.
Such a cute space with great fresh baked goods! We love the ketchup and the rasberry reserve jam! The museum is also very nice and defo worth a visit! I have been here many times and love it ❤️
G. G.
what a smashing place! well worth a visit.
M. B.
Always call into the shop when we're down I'm Essex visiting family. The brown sauce doesn't make it as far as Yorkshire unfortunately, so we have to import it by the box to keep stocks up.
The shop & staff are friendly, it's well stocked.
S. W.
Very nice afternoon tea - delicious
P. F.
Visited the tea room yesterday. Had the quiche of the day but was rather disappointed; it was odd - more like a soft egg custard in a spongy case, with very little filling - neither onion nor bacon and therefore with very little flavour or real texture. Service was a bit slow and we had to remind someone about the coffee we had ordered. The staff were variable - one or two very welcoming and friendly, others a bit standoffish.
J. G.
Maybe my hopes were a bit too high having never had afternoon tea before and after hearing such amazing things about Tiptree, but it didn't blow me away. It wasn't bad, I just expected a lot better. The fillings in the sandwiches were fabulously generous, but I thought the granary bread could have been fresher, also, it was advertised that they would be served or made with chutneys, there was NO chutney at all and if there was, I couldn't taste it. The scones weren't warm and we weren't asked if we would like them warm. Funnily enough, my boyfriend's mum ordered the cream tea and her two scones were warm!! And she didn't even ask for it. They actually forgot to bring her cream tea out and we had to ask for it. The service is inconsistent it seems and they aren't very attentive either. In the afternoon tea, there was a pot of jam per scone. My boyfriend's mum had one pot for two scones. The clotted cream isn't fresh which was the biggest disappointment for me. When I peeled back the foil lid, it was more like a yellow mouuse than clotted cream! The cakes were okay apart from the carrot cake which was far too dry.
L. H.
Had a lovely afternoon tea .. really nice would recommend.
Museum was very interesting most enjoyable.
Shop was great .. picked up Christmas presents!!!
J. M.
Cafe, food was good and reasonably priced. Good selection to choose from.
Service was a bit slow.
Shop was amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff. Asked if we could sample a jam, they could not do enough to oblige. Went out of their way to be helpful. Could have spent a lot of money there., so be warned.
L. d.
An insightful look into the history of the business, with a (free) small but well appointed museum to browse. The tea room serves good food at a good price, and the integrated shop is worth a visit to indulge yourself. A must for anybody driving through the area.
R. A.
Lovely tea room serving a good selection of meals and snacks next to the museum with interesting exhibits of the history of the Jam Factory.Certainly worth a visit.
G. D.
Lovely place staff very polite and professional, and the best jam so many flavours, plenty of parking bright and very clean.
B. Y.
Nice and clean shop. Good friendly staff working there also in cafe. Nice outside area to sit and enjoy a bite to eat without being rushed.
s. “. v. t.
Great place to visit and take refreshments.
M. E.
The staff are the best here: polite and efficient. That's more than can be said for the set Afternoon Cream Tea. We had a gift voucher and had to lie about how good it was, which it wasn't. It's was so expensive at £15 a head, for one round one scone/clotted cream/jam and very sweet Fancies, oh and unlimited tea. The venue looked like it's trying to retain its 60s charm. It doesn't. It looks lost in another Two Ronnies sit com. 3 Stars for the staff.
J. B.
Lovely food in a pleasant tea room with good social distancing and pleasant staff. Interesting but small museum of jam-related history and a gift shop with a wide range of food, drink and gifts.
W. J.
The museum is a locally focussed museum, small but very interesting, detailed the local jam factory. The restaurant is amazing for its food, serving lunch from noon to 3pm, get there early as when I went by 1pm there was a long queue. The shop sells the local jam of so many flavours it's in incredible. Well worth a few hours to visit the whole site.
R. H.
A fantastic place to dine in and learn about the history of Tiptree Jam.
S. M.
Lovely cakes and tea. The staff were lovely also
A. T.
Great afternoon tea good service slight wait but not a problem . museum interesting .
Waitress very friendly and attentive.
C. K.
A really nice little place, good service and lovely food, the jam is lovely and a great afternoon trip out. Especially in summer time where you can sit outside. Reasonable prices, will definitely be returning in the future. The scones were lovely, can definitely reccomend!
E. G.
The museum was very interesting, had a lot of information about the history of the company. The cafe was wonderful, lovely food and excellent hot chocolate! The shop is spacious and has a lot great range of choices.
A. K. (.
Was a little disappointed with my 1st experiences with my mum and sister. We waited patiently while the staff looked on at us, felt like we should just sit down. In the end we got served with the menu slapped down no introduction. All I saw was a few student like workers cleaning tables and chatting and not keeping a real eye out for customer help. We waited 12min to be served I went up 3 times for assistance. The whole point for going to a well known tea room was to be waited on making my mums birthday gift special. Felt coned for the price I paid and I had to get up half eating just so we can get orders in ect... cake was dry but expect that for arriving at 3pm. Better staff needed not just students wanting paid job and no real decent services. Museum was interesting...
G. E.
Farm tours only available on Wednesday and Friday during the summer, and twice a day. Nice little tea shop, although not much of a selection left. Nice little free museum. Was expecting a lot more. Normal commercial shop ..... Would be nice to have samples and cheaper prices
V. R.
Beautiful cream tea, excellent service, and a jam shop!
T. G.
Nice place to relax and enjoy an afternoon tea.
F. C.
We love visiting Tiptree and I particularly like it because in the coffee shop they cater well for Gluten Free diet. Normally I would rate it 5 stars but sadly on this occasion I can't There were many tables not cleared and we had finished our drinks long before any food. was brought to our table. The staff are always pleasant but at busy times maybe more help required in kitchen.
M. K.
A beautiful old but modern tea room, with exceptional staff who you can tell enjoy where they work. They are able to cater for Gluten Free diet without hesitation, gets a big thumbs up from a couple who do afternoon tea's :)
K. S.
I love this place. The restaurant is fantastic. Lots of homemade food and cake. The shop is great as well selling all their own produce. Would highly recommend both the shop and the restaurant. The jams are amazing and well purchasing.
K. H.
Really interesting place regarding the history of my favourite jam! There are some cool things to look at including original packaging and machinery used. There is enough to keep you busy for an hour tops but then that leaves plenty of time to enjoy the yummy cream tea in the adjoining cafe.
A. S.
Great food and service even though very busy we were kept up to date with waiting times
We were shown to the secret garden and enjoyed a great lunch with very friendly service
B. G.
Very nice. Interesting place to visit
N. B.
We love visiting this place - the cafe serves delicious food and drink (not cheap, but very yummy); the museum is interesting and well worth a visit; and the shop sells a good variety of jams, marmalades, chutneys etc including items which make wonderful presents.
We travel over 2 hours to get there, and are happy to make the trip a couple of times a year to buy specialty jams and jellies that you can't get in local supermarkets. Plenty of parking available. The cafe is very popular, so you may have to queue, but it's worth the wait.
T. D.
The museum itself is a little lacking and one dimensional if the truth be said. What redeems this place is the tea house and the delicious fresh homemade cakes on sale for a song! Service was prompt and with a ready smile. The gift shop is well stocked with a vast range of jams and gift ideas and a little fortune was spent in there on some jams!
A. C.
Nice but very busy and a bit expensive.
F. F.
Lovely place and yummy tea.
R. G.
Great service by the team. Food and drink was lovely and the museum is an added bonus. The shop is awesome too. Spent a fair bit in there on jams sauces and gin!!!
C. W.
This Tea Room is in Wilkins Jam Factory, Tiptree. This is worth a visit as they also have a museum about the factory and how it started. The Tea Rooms have a good variety menu and pleasant surroundings to eat.in. Staff are pleasant and prices are reasonable. There are plenty of parking spaces in the car park. Very good lunch venue.
B. M.
Good service and good food in the Tea Room. Helpful staff. Interesting small museum and lovely shop full of every jam and chutney you could imagine, and then some. Spent far too much 😂. Great for gifts.
J. D.
Always a pleasure to eat here. Great shop and family history. Nice food
E. P.
Staff were all very polite excellent service. The food was lovely. Highly recommended.
P.
A lovely place to visit, the museum was very interesting and the cafe reasonably priced and tasty food....and the jam, marmalade, chutney and Sauces are fantastic!
M. P.
Went with the sole intention of just visiting the factory museum, However the tearoom was so appealing I just had to stop!. Fantastic shop full of all there products and a good range of other locally artisan produced goods.
Museum was surprisingly full of artifacts and most interesting.
k. m.
Didn't find the whole experience very enjoyable. We had tea for two and didn't find the staff very attentive to your needs in fact the table was being cleared before we had finished although there was one member of staff that was helpful. The food was fine as would have expected
G. S.
Awesome place. Top quality items and very friendly staff.
Will definitely return.
J. S.
Quiche was not as advertised. Should have been quiche Lorraine but consisted of nothing but egg.very apologetic and did not charge on final bill.
F. O.
Disappointed with the one at Cressing Barns. Being busy and crowded should not be an excuse that we won't be able to get a wheelchair through to an empty table. We persevered and customers were very helpful by moving their chairs etc to let us through.
M. S.
Nearly missed this as tiptree does not have a lot going for it as a town. Had a great sandwich lunch which was HUGE (so we shared it) followed by fresh cream scone. Bought the best strawberries I have ever tasted in their shop picked that morning on the estate.
D. W.
Really really nice afternoon high tea. Brilliant, well filled sandwiches, lovely tea, and fantastic fruit scones with all the correct accompaniments and some sweet treats to finish. All reasonably priced.
H. H.
You must go and visit this little gem, the museum has a really interesting story to tell and the food in the cafe is to die for. And the little jars and bottles you can buy in the gift shop were great, could sample pretty much anything they produce
K. N.
Service was slow but food was good
C. b.
Really worth a visit had a lovely lunch, spent some time in the museum & was able to buy jams and chutneys.
C.
Delicious lunch. The museum is small and fascinating, good access for people with mobility issues
C. B.
Arrived at 11.50am on bank holiday Monday. Was seated and our order was taken at 12.01, happy with that as it was busy. Then waited 40mins for a sandwich and a very lightly toasted toastie to arrive. Ordered 3 pieces of lemon meringue pie to take away (not as nice as they looked with very little flavour) served in 3 nice boxes but they had no bags so had to take them to the car before going in to the shop. Bought 2 standard jars of jam and 3 small jars., was not given/offered a bag which I realised after was very disappointing as the 2 larger jars were a gift for a friend who loves Tiptree and it would have been nice to give them to her in a Tiptree bag. All in all wouldn't rush to go back but will try the one at Barleylands to compare.
a. w.
We had to queue a long time to get in due to social distancing & less tables available. Quick service lovely afternoon tea! 😍😋
S. D.
End of the day, but still managed to get tea and cakes. Then purchased some lovely jam/preserves in the shop
T. W.
In my opinion it is still the best tea room to visit. Staff always friendly, good regular menu plus specials board. You never feel as if you should eat and then leave so ideal if you are meeting some friends for lunch and a chat 😊thank you
R. M.
Cream Tea and ploughman's lunch are both very good. Vast range of teas to choose from. The small museum in the back of the tea room is worth a visit. Full of interesting facts about the family and also the local area.
T. S.
Lovely place to take your mum for lunch. The cakes are amazing, and the staff are brilliant.
D. W.
Went on a very busy day so forced to join a queue waiting to be wearing. Once that done the service was very good with food and drink both arriving very quickly and of good quality. Again had to queue to pay which was not a great way to end the visit
S. D.
Interesting little museum, well-stocked shop, and the food was great with generous portions.
L. D.
Excellent menu, great food, service was a little slow, which wouldn't have been a problem but we were there for a lunch break.
The shop is a delight, definitely worth a visit.
J. E.
Very enjoyable cream tea
P. M.
The museum is great. The team rooms are fabulous but let down by their staff. Waiting staff very good but when it came to paying we stood at the till for 10 minutes and staff ignored us even though they knew we were waiting to pay. I said we would leave without paying if they didn't hurry up. Still waited. Very disappointed.
S. F.
Nice atmosphere, and good selection of food. Service is okay, if a little slow. Can get extremely busy especially lunchtime, so don't expect to be able to just walk in and get a table.
K. H.
I was returning with my cousin to visit the tearoom because of The Cheap Shop (crafts) nearby. She was impressed which is greater praise when you consider she works for a national establishment providing food services and takeaway. I enjoyed the prawn cocktail on granary bread and she chose the Coronation turkey. She enjoyed a pot of tea but I let her try Wilkin's fruit juice and she responded, "I will try one of those next time.".
A previous time, I was with my son who has food intolerances and he was able to have a very substantial and nutritious cooked meal. Wilkin have won his confidence to return. On this time, we visited the museum which has a great collection of family memorabilia as the jam factory developed into an international company.
The staff are always very friendly and efficient despite being under constant demand from a queue of public. Plus, as important, the toilets are clean and sufficient. (Try the doors displaying red because they don't all return to the green position.)
Of course, I stocked up on our favourite peach jam and a few other treats in the superb gift shop. Plus, a takeaway cake because I was full up. I noticed some new stock (fruit flavoured gins) and there are always fresh gifts to surprise. We'll be back and others will be mad to miss you but easier now you have a mini roundabout entrance.
T. R.
Had a lovely cheese scone and Tea. The price was very good. You can't book but only waited about 10 minutes to be seated.
V. S.
Excellent facility. Good covid prevention, nice staff and wonderful food. Museum was interesting and the shop sold a huge range of things never seen in other shops
S. E.
Finally got to visit the Tiptree café. I ordered the ploughman's. Beautifully presented salad in the middle of the board but when I was tucking in I noticed that some of the leaves were slimy and had gone off. I put the inedible leaves to a side. At least a quarter was not edible. I let the waitress know. She brought over a big bowl of salad which sadly was the same case. The top of the salad looked inviting but when I delved in cucumber, lettuce and tomatoes were not edible. Real shame.
The fruit scone was very nice.
I would visit again and try something else off the menu.
J. P.
Great cafe, table service.
J. C.
Food was amazing so much of It.
N. W.
Fantastic staff, excellent food, lots of wonderful products in the shop. A must visit. I will return.
M. W.
Excellent little tea room situated on the Tiptree Jam Factory Museum. Excellent selection of hot and cold drinks and food. Covid friendly table service. Warm and friendly. Recommended.
J. L.
We came to the Tiptree Jam factory for a nice day out and some scones. Much to our surprise we arrived on national cream tea day! So of course we got into the spirit of things and ordered the Tiptree cream teas. The scones were fresh and the jam was exquisite.
I would highly recommend the Tiptree Jam factory to any of my friends or family.
D. W.
Lovely food at reasonable price.
C. S.
Very popular tea rooms, lovely cakes and good service. Small museum to see with the history of the Tiptree jam family, also the early machines used to make jam. There is a shop with gifts to buy, and they also sell their own gin.
S. H.
Great place to visit. Food great as always. Friendly staff. Feels safe to visit. Would recommend
L. L.
Great place to visit. Very interesting history of the jam factory. Most informative. Lovely restaurant serves good food. Bit pricey.but good quality . Great shop for buying their products. Highly recommended.
S. P.
Characterful place to visit. Lots of Tiptree products in the Jam Factory shop that you can't buy routinely. The small museum is fascinating and you always complete your visit with a cream tea or a snack. Well worth a detour to find.
J. M.
Excellent place to eat, no rush , good food , good atmosphere, if busy you might have to wait but it's worth it!!
D. R.
I am already a fan of tiptree jam.....but this was just a lovely way to spend the afternoon.
The restaurant is really nice with lots of lovely homemade goodies...especially the cream teas !
There is a small museum attached which is really interesting and a shop where you can buy tiptree products as well as other little bits and pieces.
M. B.
Beautiful place, lovely and clean and all the staff were friendly. Seated promptly and food arrived quickly. Also had a look around the shop which had a word variety of jams and sauces.
P. M.
Lovely place, has a great dining cafe, a museum and a well stocked shop. Good free parking
M. H.
Lovely food and coffee. Had to wait outside for table but not too long. Really busy every day but you cannot book table.
J. C.
Nice unplanned trip to tiptree for lunch, my friend had a panini from the special board and really enjoyed it, caramelized onion and bire. I had smoked salmon, prawn a s cream cheese on white bread. The bread was a little stale I wonder if this was because it was a Sunday, lots of staff working but a little slow to take out order. Other than that very good and I would recommend for the price I would say about £10 per person for lunch with a soft drink.
S. E.
Decent prices. The food here is amazing. I recommend the tea for two. My fav sandwiches are the brie. Make sure to also visit the museum too. Very informative about the history here.
S. Y.
Enjoyed my meal there
J. K.
Lots of delicious things to buy here and the staff very friendly
H. E.
A must for any afternoon tea fan and fan of tiptree jams. Really enjoyed the afternoon Tea which was £15 per person, not the best I have ever had but still very enjoyable. Also you get to visit the small tiptree museum which is in the same building which is not the best but very interesting. Also there is a small shop which is a little expensive.
R. T.
What a great place to visit. This is the home of Jams Chutney etc. First we went for a meal in the Restaurant the meal was perfect and a very competitive price, and the service was excellent. Then we spent a couple of hours in the Museum, which is not too big but full of information about the start of Tiptree Jams upto the present day, the bonus with the museum was its free. There is also a farm tour but we could not do it as it was getting late I believe there is a small charge for this. Then we went to the Gift shop which is well stocked with Tiptree products and the usual bits and pieces for you to remember your trip to Tiptree. Well worth a visit even if you only want some food or a hot drink. I personally would recommend a visit to this little Gem.
A. C.
Amazing food friendly staff xx would defo go back again xxx
j. g.
Fabulous Afternoon Tea, great specials and cooked food available until 3pm. Also caters well for Vegan Daughter, with the most wonderful vegan chocolate & praline cake...
J. W.
The Tiptree Tea Rooms are reasonably priced and the food is fantastic. A must if you are in the area!
However, they can get very busy, especially on the weekends. Be prepared to wait for a table if you are visiting during peak times.
T. M.
Food was fabulous, service was good however was also a bit haphazard..
May have been due to a private party going on. The child's afternoon tea was amazing...
C. B.
Love tea room and shop. Service was excellent and friendly. Food was lovely
D. B.
Nice atmosphere and the food was delicious and I didn't have to wait to long.
S. B.
There is a museum recording the history of the Wilkins family and how they started the jam factory. There is also a gift shop where you can buy all the jams, chutneys, and pickles they make on the premises as well as other gifts. The restaurant/cafe is well worth a visit as the food is very good.
N. T.
I love Tiptree jam and end up having it on toast for breakfast in hotels all over the world, hence a visit here is just a joy. Museum, cafe and a shop to buy jam - what more do you need for a great lunchtime out.
H. K.
Really nice environment, friendly staff, delicious home made cakes, yummy deserts, lovely ploughman's or cooked lunches, Rossi ice cream, or maybe a cream tea, you can take the tour of the farm, buy there fruit, check out there museum, or browse in the gift shop where you can buy for yourself or have posted to friends or family Tiptree jam, sauce, pickle, fruit gins, fruit juices, or smelly candles all beautifully packaged or other gifts. There are good parking facilities, the toilets are always clean and even smell nice. A good place for lunch with the girls , your partner or to take your mum for a cream tea.
W. K.
Brilliant service and lovely food. Good covid arrangements. Only drawback was having a long wait in the queue but this is a reflection of popularity not inefficiency.
j. w.
Charming and interesting place. Afternoon Tea was delicious and the service very good. Lovely little shop to buy some of the produce and other gifts too
D. M.
Lovely place to visit tearoom is very nice great food .great service. They have a musuem for children to see how jam etc is made .and a small shop to purchase jams pickles gifts candles etc . Great place to visit when its wet out

Lovely afternoon spent with friends. Had lunch, then went to the shop and museum, afterwards went on to have coffee and cake. Really good food. Service a bit chaotic.
s. l.
Lovely tasty tea rooms.
Wonderful lunch
Someone needs to sort put the eaiting game though.
A booking system is needed.
Or beepers so you can browse whilst waiting.
A. 5.
The museum was closed to but still enjoyed shopping in the store and had a break in the cafe.
W. H.
Lovely afternoon tea. Plenty room and hardly a queue. We got a table straight away.
J. B.
Very covid friendly.. lovely lunch food amazing and service as well. Would recommend. Be prepared to queue to get in as it is so popular
T. B.
Get there early and enjoy good well served food, although a little on the pricey side.
A. R.
Lovely and great value afternoon teas. Friendly staff and good service.
M. H.
We had a fantastic family day out, touring the farm, getting through the museum and having afternoon tea. And then spending a small fortune on jam. Brilliant!
I. L.
The Tiptree Centre is a good visit probably later in the summer as the farm isn't open yet, the café was busy but worth the wait as the food was delicious and reasonably priced, the shop is well stocked with lots of preserves and the musium was interesting.
A. A.
The cream tea was lovely and the 2 scones we had were big . The staff friendly and helpful , museum I found the museum interesting but the shop expensive
F. B.
Very well organised. Nice staff.good food although my husband didnt taste the hot gooseberry in his brie sandwich.
M. W.
Always worth a visit. Lovely tea rooms, great shop and lots of history. Don't forget to pop into the museum if it's your first visit.
i. d.
Lovely little place we had cream teas and drinks the prices are as expected not cheap but not extortionate the cream teas were nice it was an extremely busy day so had a 10 minute wait to be seated the staff were excellent and the museum was worth having a look at overall a really nice afternoon
R. D.
Only went to tea room, it's really nice, quite big, lots of staff, busy but didn't need to wait . Great choice on menu.

Great place, spotlessly clean and tidy. Service good and the food was of real quality
C. F.
Lovely tea room, delicious food and lovely costumer service. The museum is great too. Would definitely visit again.
N. S.
Great place to visit local history at its best. And you can have food in the tea room Plus shop for Jam's and other gifts after your visit. 🥰
s. s.
Lovely cafe and interesting little museum. Food is lovely and well priced. Shop is expensive and you can buy most of it cheaper in the local supermarkets .
F. G.
The shop is good with lots of goodies. However, in my opinion there were insufficient staff in the coffee shop so our group and others didn't bother to wait although there were plenty of free tables.
R. I.
Lovely place, cake was great but service very slow on thus occasion
K. H.
Lovely all round. The museum is small but very interesting and informative. The tea rooms are fantastic. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the cream tea was excellent.
N. S.
Lovely place to visit with an interesting history.
Enjoyed the scones and the service was great 👍

Set up for social distancing. Bit of a queue with a 30 min wait. But was a Saturday lunch time so expected service and food good.
A. S.
I had a great time and found it all extremely interesting.
Specially the growing of your strawberry tunnels.
I will definitely be visiting again .

Excellent jam selection along with all of the other Wilkins products. The shop used to be a bit of a random gift centre as well but now the focus primarily on their products.

Recently l had a nice lunch here and the food and service was very good. You will find a good selection of cakes here, the scones are very tasty.

Tasty, simple food with a bit of history too. Love this companies products so it was really good to get to know a bit more about them as well
D.
Nice food & cakes. Friendly staff.
J. H.
Small museum located on-site, housing original manufacturing tools, videos of the jam-making process, and photographs and text detailing backstory of Wilkin & Sons. Café offers a varied if slightly pricey menu, with decent quality locally sourced ingredients.
S. D.
The food itself in the cafe was lovely, as were the servers... however they were struggling with a new order system which meant we had a lot of fuss when it came to pay.
W. L.
The was very good, staff very helpful, meal very nice 👌 .
R. G.
It's ok, not for kids really but nice to smell the freshly made jam in the air, cafe was nice a little pricey for cake but the shop was nice with plenty of variety available
D. M.
Lovely lunch once again. Staff are very efficient and polite even though its busy. Can't wait to go back.
M. S.
Very pleasant lunch even though we had to queue but it moved quickly. There were a few seats to sit on if you found standing difficult.
H. K.
Love the tea rooms, menu ok but a bit limited, lovely little museum there, great gift shop, but tea room staff can be a bit grumpy .
S. M.
Had the classic tea and scones with jam and cream .... The scones were shocking literally were like muffins that i could not cut to butter or anything i ended up using cutlery haha tea was nice and the Mrs had cheese and ham toasty .
M. B.
Scones strowberry jam and cream. Brought lots of different jams from shop enjoyable afternoon.
C. M.
Expensive for what it is, but clean surroundings. Staff polite and tidy.
Didn't visit the museum as only popped in for a cuppa and a lump of cake.

Well presented cafe with gift shop and museum adjacent. Very busy at peak coach-trip times, hence long queues when I visited.
M. P.
Excellent quality products, nice food in cafe, quirky little museum (free) nice outside seating, plenty parking.
S. B.
I grew up in Tiptree and Wilkins is an icon. I left the village (town?) before the visitor centre was opened but it was lovely to visit again and the food in the café is fabulous

S. P.
Pleasant little cafe, attached to a bit of history in form of a little museum, and a shop with all the produce. We visited in passing and very much enjoyed

G. M.
An excelent small museum showing the company's jam making history. Great examples of early equipment and developments.
D. P.
The only good thing here is the range of tiptree products, some of which are nearly impossible elsewhere. I found it a bit too expensive and to more than 10% higher than supermarkets but they dont do the range. Wont go back.
A. J.
Excellent freshly made scones and jam. Quirky museum and shop filled with goodies.
S. A.
