First Visit Today Will Definitely be Returning! Hot chocolate was lovely with proper fresh cream & luxurious dark chocolate. We also had a bacon cob which was lovely they asked how we wanted our bacon (which is rare in my opinion) and it came out on a lovely fresh cob. The staff were pleasant and friendly. Would definitely recommend

Well were lucky, the chairs were across the door. I only wanted a cup of tea to takeaway but was at that stage in the day where it was urgent. I called over the barrier and the lady went to check if she could serve. At this point I'd given up all hope. She returned and made me a cup tea that was so restorative and magical. You know the ones I mean. I had one there. I needed it. Thank you

They have a huge range of flavoured milkshakes and suchlike. We got a good, thick, tasty mocha shake. However, coffee is pretty abysmal here: flat white didn't have microfoam, rather it was like cappuccino with less foam. The espresso in it was bitter. They're reheating milk and not purging the steam wand after use. It's bustling, well lit, and friendly.

Always a pleasure to visit. Its a little bit of Italy in Derby. You won't get your huge meals and chips here, they're a coffee shop so it's toasted sandwiches, cakes and ice cream sundaes. What you will get though is delicious hot and cold drinks served to you in a busy but warm and cheery environment full of fun.

Had a light lunch here with an amaretto hot hocolate delight. Looked amazing. Tasted nice but the hot chocolate was barely warm, however I did enjoy it. Staff pleasant and prices reasonable.

Excellent range of sweet treats, You get a large serving for what you pay, I have a very sweet tooth and it was still a challenge to get through one of their sundaes. Would definitely recommend if your after an ice cream based pudding. Coffee was okay if nothing special.

Great coffee ,great carrot cake .A great cafe popular and people come here for generations .The children now have children themselves. Only criticism so popular some of the cakes sell out but that's not even a criticism. A Large choice menu so something for everyone. Look forward to new one opening to as a start to an evening this will be a lovely choice food and a lovely drink .Even better the other restaurants aren't closing so then 3 choices for a great coffee 😋👌

The sandwiches we had were very nice but very basic. No frills builder's butty was how I described it. It used to be really lovely with a menu to match the decor but now it's the same decor but the menus hanging above the counters just aren't right in my opinion. They're more suited to a 'greasy spoon' cafe. Weird!!

I absolutely love it here and it is one of my favourite places to eat. A great cafe run by Italians. The atmosphere is great in here, the food is delicious and the portion sizes leave you stuffed. They do the most amazing milkshakes with a whole list of flavours, yum yum. It's always packed in here which just reflects how good it is.

I love this little cafe in the heart of Derby. Whoever I go with always agrees, it’s like the cafes you would find on the streets of your favourite holiday town abroad. Great lunch spot and reasonably priced it will more than satisfy you. The decor is dated but adds to the charm of the place, and is fitting with the vibe- so do not be put off by this. Service is fast and friendly you can understand why they have won so many awards.

Two adults/two children popped in to order an ice cream sandwich for my son to take away. They don't usually do take away, but the owner dealt with us personally and went out of his way to make sure my son could enjoy his treat. They were very accommodating, especially as it was a small order, and we were not eating in. Very impressed!

Lovely, friendly place, when in Derby shopping, we usually pop in there for one of their gorgeous hot chocolate drinks. Lovely & hot, served with frothy cream, chocolate pieces, & a swirl of chocolate sauce. £5 for 2 , & worth every penny. The only improvement on that, would be some hot, freshly made churros to dip into the hot chocolate, like you can buy in Spain or Italy.!!

Unlike many people I have only recently moved to the area and have not been going here for years and years, but really did stumble across it one day - what a genuine and honest place this is! I absolutely love it .Such a warm friendly and inviting atmosphere with fantastic staff and owners who care about their customers in i a way that has not been seen for what feels like 100 years. And the coffee? I generally don't buy coffee out these because I can usually make better at home, I'm a bit of a coffee geek lol but these guys make a fantastic coffee with brilliant crema that's made with expertise and passion, the prices for coffee and food are extraordinarily affordable. Whilst there with my heavily pregnant wife the owner got cushions and a backrest for her chair, and when I turned up with a very grumpy hungry baby just recently, they got me sat down with a coffee and a fruit scone and even unwrapped it for me, bought me hot water for babies milk and checked on me about half a dozen times to make sure I was ok, alongside this the other customers who were there at the time were very kind to me, a real testament to the friendly family atmosphere overall. I can see how there are people who have been coming here for years and years and years and still come back almost like a second home . Amongst the corporate, faceless, money and shareholder driven chain coffee shops that make prepackaged food and serve mediocre coffee at best, this is a place that should be protected as a place of historic and regional interest!!!! Cannot recommend highly enough, I truly hope this place never closes and gets handed down from Generation to generation for everyone to enjoy a slice of traditional customer service, great food and even better coffee . A few months ago I was sitting there having lunch and saw a guy about the same age as me in his 40s order an Espresso, in true Italian fashion he had it in a espresso cup and stood whilst having a brief chat with the staff, drained the Cup, thanked them, shook their hand and went on his way - I don't know many places that understand the concept and tradition of an espresso, but that was a joy to see and if I find myself passing now do the same when I need that little lift! Million out of ten.

Possibly the best cup of coffee I have tasted outside of Naples !!! No budget blend here , if you are not into the fake take and gimmicks of the modern chain cafés , then this is the perfect place for the much needed cup of high quality coffee, served by polite well dressed and handsome staff. The prices are modest and reasonable, considering the amount of staff they have , all eager to serve you with a good coffee , or perhaps a glass of wine with a good selection of light snacks and more traditional continental fayre.a must visit place !!! Very romantic place for couples of all ages. Totally recommend , see for yourself ,I am sure you will not be disappointed. P.s. wash room facilities are up a small flight of stairs , and are always cleaned to a good standard , but if you have mobility problems facilities are very nearby in shopping centre , for the less able to take the stairs and are always welcome as you can get wheelchairs in the café . On the whole a good place with a warm welcome and friendly family feel to it with prices that most can afford.

On a day trip to Derby we had an excellent coffee when we first arrived, because of the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff, we decided to eat here prior to catching our train home. The cafe was very busy but customers were not rushed and we enjoyed our meal in a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was very fresh, well presented, plentiful and extremely good value for money. Must mention Chloe, who never stopped smiling and took very good care of us, also behind the counter Chanz whose friendly banter set the start of what was a very enjoyable time spent at the Caruso. ps dont let the "cheap eats" below put you off the price certainly does not reflect the excellent quality of the food.
