You can't beat going into Waterstones to choose a good book and getting dug into the first few chapters while enjoying a lovely coffee served by friendly staff.
P. R.Coffee, like most things is subjective, the queues and wait for a Costa mean that I generally go elsewhere unless the shop is quiet. The drinks are also a little overpriced when considering a popular burger chain will do a nice coffee for about 1/3 of the price.
D. S.Very busy place when I arrived at 11am on a Tuesday morning. Service was swift and friendly. I ordered a medium house filer coffee for 1.75. You can have your choice of milk with it. Free WiFi from the French gate centre.
P. C.Used on a Thursday Afternoon at around 1.00pm.
Although it appeared fairly busy, there was a quick service at the till (from placing order to drink dispense) and there were plenty of available seats/tables.
Upon finding a table, I had to move a tray of cups/plates from a previous customer.
During my time there, I did notice that there was a team member who was intermittently clearing tables.

J. W.Just like to say what a great job the staff are doing in this store. I go to Costa regularly to have meetings and was really impressed with the team that served me today - by far the best Costa I have visited!
M. J.I have sat down in this Costa quite a few times for a beverage with friends and family over the years. The staff are nice and friendly, the only slight annoyance is that the atmosphere is quite loud and 'open' in one half of the seating area, this is due to there being no glass walls to shield the sound of the busy Frenchgate centre. If you require more privacy there is the more enclosed seating area toward the back of this Costa.
G. C.The Costa outlet in Waterstones Book Shop is an oasis. Very busy at lunchtime. A good place for a coffee and panini, toasted sandwich etc with a lovely view of the Minster Church, in the surrounding calm of the book shop. Incidentally if you like real lemony tarts, Costa's lemon tarts are to die for.
