Reviews of Tealicious Tea Room
S.
What a lovely cafe! Beautiful interior design and friendly, lovely staff. I loved the fact the staff didn't interrupt us to ask us if we want anything else (in other words, to tell us to order something else or we have to leave). The coffee and scone were delicious, I would recommend 100%!
J. S.
Had a lovely high tea. Wide range of teas - would recommend the Durham Miners blend for a strong black tea. The cakes are fresh and soft , and the service is polite. Would recommend for anyone looking for a little break in Durham

I visited the tearoom on 03/11/19 and we were lucky enough to have our very own room to enjoy the afternoon tea. From booking the table to leaving the cafe, the whole experience was amazing. The staff were very welcoming and recommended different teas to us. The sandwiches were delicious, the cheese scone was my favourite! And a great touch with the optional chutney. We were too full to eat the cakes so we were able to take them home. I enjoyed them later in the day and they are amazing! I’d highly recommend for a delightful afternoon tea in Durham.
A.
Lovely selection of teas, we had two pots of vanilla Earl Grey home blend, mild and nice without milk. Victoria sponge and a cheese scone were fresh and tasty. All served in interesting china. Ladies serving were attentive and there was a friendly chatty atmosphere.
S. G.
Lovely afternoon tea with a great choice of loose leaf teas. Sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

It is one of my favourite places in Durham!
The tea selections, scones, cakes, plates&cups and staffs...everything is nice there. It is true that the place is relatively 'petite' and it is always crowded (sometimes, literally TOO crowded) but there is no better tea room in Durham.. so isn't it fair enough?
A. L.
A tiny but cute one. It's very homey inside. Friendly staffs. The food was pretty nice, especially their scone.
R. H.
Excellent service and absolutely delicious food . I had peppermint tea and my wife had strawberry and mint iced tea both thought our drinks very nice. Recommended.

Make sure to visit this small but perfectly formed tearoom! The selection of cakes were varied and my choice of Guinness Chocolate cake was divine. The tea selection should satisfy even the fussiest tea drinker. My Assam hit the spot :-) The attention to detail in the furnishings and decorations right down to the crockery created a lovely experience. The staff were welcoming, friendly, attentive and efficient!
E. G.
Beautiful little tearoom fantastic produce and lovely home made cakes etc staff very friendly and helpful clean and beautifully presented

How did a 'local guide' give this 4 stars? I want go give it six! Great cake. Great food. Great tea. Great service. Sorry about the pics, I'd already started. Yum.
T. T.
Small teahouse but great in service and the best homemade scones in Durham. The lemon and ginger tea kept me refreshed for most of the day. Worth the experience.
V. W.
Lovely tearoom with a great selection of tea and amazing cake!
T. H.
Small but excellent tea shop. Choices of reas excellent and portions very large for afternoon teas. Well worth a visit and very friendly helpful staff with kids. Kids loved having their drinks in teapots and cups and saucers
R. S.
Took my mother out for lunch. Lovely little spot. Will highly recommend

Superb cafe with the best range of teas in Durham, I went for the 'Durham Miner' an excellent strong blend with no bitterness. My wife chose lemon and lime which she also enjoyed. We chose fruit scones with butter and jam which were so delicious that we ordered more! Staff were friendly and the service was excellent!
T. D.
Stopped here twice while in Durham earlier in the month, well worth a visit. Extensive tea menu and both the cheese and fruit scones were top notch. You can also buy their chutneys/preserves.

We ordered an afternoon tea to take away for my mum's birthday. The afternoon tea was incredible! I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys afternoon tea. A lovely independent cafe! We received excellent customer service and a warm & friendly welcome upon collection. Thank you so much!
K. L.
Great Halloween afternoon tea for kids and a savoury platter for parents... Heavenly tasteful as always. Love all the bakes from Tealicious and with the new delivery service (zero emmisions!) there is just another reason to treat yourself and family. If you haven't yet, give this lovely family business a try. You won't be disappointed 😊
B. M.
Delicious home made cakes and a vast choice of teas. A very friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome. I would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely owner, large tea selection, incredible cakes, lovely sandwiches too!! Worth the trip!

My daughter booked me tea for two for fathers day.Went at 2pm today with my lovely wife.We were met with a very pleasant greeting on arrival. The tea was utterly delicious. An abundance of savoury sandwiches, cheese and fruit scones which were fantastically fresh and to finish a fantastic selection of sickly cakes. We could not manage it all and we were provided with boxes to take our excess home.Staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience.Well worth a visit.Keep up the good work.

What a lovely little tearooms. We hadn't planned to stop here but when we saw what was on offer we stayed. There was a good selection of teas, with other drinks available for non tea drinkers. There were several homemade cakes available on the counter as well as good sized fruit or cheese scones with the choice of relevant accompaniments, all at reasonable prices. The staff were very pleasant and everywhere was clean and tidy. Toilets available upstairs. This was a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town and a welcome place to get warm and enjoy a treat on a cold February day.

Great little place for afternoon tea. The place is quaint with China cups and plates. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Now..onto the food. I've gotta say this was the best afternoon tea I've had anywhere. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes. All homemade and to order. I asked for a variation on my sandwich and it was no problem. It was extremely filling, couldn't eat much for dinner in the evening!
I would recommend the fruit scone and Bakewell tart...delicious! The finger sandwiches were big and fresh.
Great selection of drinks and can swap tea for coffee or a cold drink if you prefer.
I would definitely recommend it and go again if I'm in the area.

I don't often write reviews but I felt this place deserved one - and I haven't even been there! I was booked in for a visit last week, but sadly the business wasn't able to stay open. I had a call, a voicemail and a text, really apologetic and even offering to make cakes to order for takeaway instead. I had to decline as I was just passing through, but if you are local and you can afford it, I urge you to support a deserving small business like this while you can, whether they are open for table service or not. I wish them well.

Came for cake and hot chocolate and was not disappointed.
Hot chocolate came with cream and marshmallows and was nice and chocolatly. They even sensibly gave you a long armed spoon to reach the bottom of the latte style mug.
I was pleased to find the cakes were room temperature so not cold and dry. We shared chocolate cake and coffee cake. Both were lovely, soft and very tasty.
There was 4 different cakes on offer and both sweet and savoury scones. There is a huge variety of tea in excess of 50 blends.
Thorough enjoyed and would definitely go back. I'd be keen to taste their carrot cake.
A. S.
A nice little tea rooms with very yummy cakes. We really enjoyed the homemade soup too.
V. T.
Beautiful fresh sandwiches and gorgeous cakes. High tea was excellent. Definitely worth a visit.
M. K.
My wife and I have been here quite a few times and have always thoroughly enjoyed the home made baking. The staff are always friendly, polite and welcoming.
We would definitely recommend Tealicious as the best tea room in Co Durham and further!
A. N.
A small, scrupulously clean tea room, with very friendly and enthusiastic staff. Excellent range of leaf teas. If you're a tea fancier (I am!) then this is probably the only place in Durham for you. Small selection of cakes, but fresh and very tasty. Oh, and if you really must, there's a good range of coffees, too.
This really is one of the nicest tea shops I've been in (and I've been in quite a few!)
C. T.
After living in Durham for nearly four years, I can safely say this is the best tearoom in Durham with the friendliest staff around. Always service with a smile and the food is delicious, too! A wide selection of teas that has converted even me, a coffee person, to a cup of their chai, and they even serve your coffee with the choice of cream if you're feeling particularly indulgent. Every friend or family member I've brought here just falls in love with it!
A. D.
A favourite haunt of the family - especially the American contingent! Our relatives saw photographs of Tealicious and booked a trip to the UK simply so that they could go!! True story! As much as they went to other locations, they still think Durham and Tealicious are their favourite places in the UK.
B. S.
Had a lovely afternoon tea here - service was great and the cakes delicious...
L. C.
Lovely little tea room.Delicious sandwich served with chutney, salad and yummy coleslaw. Only downside, they don't serve latte or cappuccino.Only cafieter of coffee.
R. D.
Very expensive, high tea did not include drinks, the tomato bread they bought from the market was nice but saying that the rest food was very run of the mill. Staff were friendly, premises small. Sorry not somewhere I would go back to. Apparently it was better before.
M. H.
Centrally located by Elvet bridge is Tealicious a genuine old style tea room. We had tea and cake both of which was good, coffee was ok, but hey this is a tea room after all!. Service not that great I am afraid. We had a quick cup of tea wilth different cakes. The cakes tasted as good as they looked. The teas were well made and tasted excellent. It is nice to get real tea in UK, and not just tea bag tea.
H. B.
Loose leaf tea, lovely cake, quiet little tearoom, friendly service.
s. v.
We had a lovely cheese scone and Christmas cake. Lots of other delicious cakes too. So many varieties of tea. We'll worth a visit.
J. L.
Lovely afternoon tea, friendly staff. The downstairs was full so we had to go upstairs, because they were a bit busy we had to wait a while for the table to be cleared. The waitress did make us aware of this before we went upstairs to a table. The stairs are quite steep so could be a problem for some people
A. C.
Amazing afternoon tea! Very recommended. The ladies working there were very nice and welcoming. If ever back in Durham we will definitely pop in again.
A.
Thank you for making a wonderful cake selection box! They all tasted beautiful and fresh
J. B.
Always so nice in here. Great menu of teas (about 20?) There's also always a tea of the week if you're stuck for choice! Good for sandwiches and soup, but you need to book ahead for afternoon tea.
H. C.
An excellent afternoon tea, tasty freshly made sandwiches ( both brown and white bread beautifully prepared fingers) scones and cakes all tip top quality. Highly recommended 🌟🙂
Z. M.
Quirky tea room, perfect for an afternoon of luxury! Unique blends of tea, tasty treats and lovely staff. Vintage interior and miss matched china makes Tealicious wonderfully charming.
T. H.
High quality tea and cakes _always. Also lovely staff, I have a swallowing difficulty and they always give me a bit of cream to help it go down. A really lovely tea room.
C. B.
Excellent selection of tea, ditto with homemade cakes. Absolutely delicious food and great ambience (although can be a little crowded). The history seeps out- the second floor tea parlour is on a definite slant!
A. E.
Delicious food - soup, sandwiches, scones and cakes- in a charming setting. Choice of teas is superb and coffee is served in three different strengths, so there is something for everyone.
