I visited this cafe which is now called the Angus Cafe for a quick snack.When I looked at the menu it looked too nice to miss out so ended up having a meal. The food is fresh and tasty and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. It's a small cafe on the high street which is not too expensive (which is surprising considering its right in the middle of the tourist area) so if you want a quick break from all the walking around Edinburgh give it a visit.

Nice place with all day breakfast possibility’s and different variety’s(Mediterranean, French, American) the guy who served us was very very nice, telling stories about when he was in Spain and his next travel plans. The food is good and the amount is correct, I don’t give 5 stars because it’s quite expensive(15£ for French toast with coffee and natural orange juice) but anyways it’s a good option for have a brunch.

I loved the Angus Steak Pie and my son's Bangers and Mash. We shared a perfect pot of tea watching hundreds of people walk by the window. While attending the Edinburgh Fringe, we wanted to have lunch at the (Potter-famous) Elephant House. But there was a queue out the door, despite a light rain. Just a couple doors away, the ANGUS CAFE had one table open. I'm so glad we chose to try it! I want to stay all afternoon. The chocolate-covered shortbread was delicious! When we complimented the steak pie, our friendly server explained that their butcher has 50 years of experience and makes the pies himself. My only suggestion is that they update the decor. The yellow paint doesn't match the banquet fabric and the food photos do not represent the wonderful experience.

Solid place to grab a Full Scottish breakfast and pot of tea for around £10. Hearty portions with nice quality ingredients in this casual diner-like place. The place wasn't terribly busy when I went, so it was a calm atmosphere to start the day.

Had my lunch here today. Its really cozy an very clean. The staff are really nice too. I ordered soup of the day. I got a very generous portion of piping hot lentil soup with three slices of crusty sourdough bread it was bloody delish and only £3.90 BARGAIN !

Unexpectedly came across this discreet cafe . Friendly welcome by the waitress. Small and friendly,good wc. Filled out the track n trace . Good choice for our brunch oh really enjoyed full English breakfast and my french toast with fresh strawberries was delicious. Tea for 2 with a hot water : just right . Fresh fruit on counter got an apple to go no charge . Highly recommended 5 star . Very clean Thankyou xx I can’t tolerate any grubbiness.

Lovely breakfast this morning before visiting the National Museum. Good bacon, sausage, egg, etc. The proprietors were warm and friendly and offered recommendations about other Edinburgh sights to see. Just a relaxed, friendly spot with good food ready quickly at a decent price.

Been in twice - food is of a good quality, however the main member of staff (possibly the owner) has a habit of staring at me when I enter. Had tea with no food and he seemed a bit miffed. Not very nice member of staff, can't speak for the rest of the staff. No hi or hello when I entered.

I thought this cafe was friendly and cosy with tartan seats. The waitress seemed friendly enough and asked us if we would like breakfast. We said we would like a latte and indicated we would like to sit in the window cosy, tartan seats. She said that was ok but she might have to ask us to move if a large party came in. Seemed a bit odd as all the tables left seemed to seat four and this is the only reason I have given this 4 stars. The latte was delicious and service was quick. There are a few seats outside too.

Fabulous little place. Enough room for probably 20 people maybe, but the service and food choice were excellent. We had the Full Scottish breakfast and very good it was too. The gentleman serving was friendly, chatting to us about the area and his connections to where we'd travelled from. I would go again if ever in the area. 5 *

We visited this cafe on the 16th May. Short on time we needed breakfast before going on a trip. We arrived 10 minutes before they were due to open. When we asked if he was open he said to come in and he would make sure we had time to eat. The welcome and service we recieved that morning was nothing short of excellent and the food was tasty and great value. Would whole heartedly recommend this cafe to people. Thank you to the staff for their help that morning for all their help.

Found this place because of the positive reviews and I have to say, it did not let me down. This is a fantastic little gem found in Edinburgh, the food was very reasonably priced and high quality for a nice Scottish/English breakfast. The what seemed like owner was extremely helpful and friendly with us suggesting places to visit and giving us a local map which was very kind. Overall a very nice place and I would 100 percent recommend to any people passing through Edinburgh for a nice breakfast.

A fast food atmosphere comes together with fast food lunch. The Angus is placed very nice, if you explore Edinburgh' s Old and New Town, near to a creepy and impressive graveyard. But the food is all finished products. Usually that's worth two stars, but the nice service gets one more.
