Me and my husband visited yesterday for the first time. Plenty of choice on the menu which changes everyday. I had the Tomato and Basil Soup and my husband had the potato stovies and we shared a sausage and bacon 'doubler'. The owner had a great bubbly personality and was very knowledgeable about her products and the area she is located in. Dean Village is a short walk from her location. All products are freshly made every day!!

Barry wee place. Good service. Good coffee. And... There aren't many places left that you can simply ask for a 'coffee' without having to give it a modern trendy name. Top marks!

It's a lovely place near Dean Village. It was delicious and very reasonably priced. I'd also like to point out that the owner cares about the environment.

Delicious homemade scones and hot chocolat 🥰
The owner is the sweetest.

Came across this wee cafe on a walk in a very, very heavy rain shower. Immediately made welcome by the lovely owner who knew we needed something warm! Hot chicken, bacon and leek pie went down went down a treat. As did some housemade tiffin for sweet.
Very reasonably priced, plenty of options for veggies and GF dietary requirements and the cutlery and containers are biodegradable too!

A small, open shop in a terrific location, fronted by a talkative and welcoming owner. The food looked as good as it tasted (i.e. no pretention or flash, but absolutely fabulous). The hot drinks were equally good, and to top it off the prices could not have been more reasonable.
Also good to know that all disposable utensils are recyecled /composted. Will definitely return for another "mighty fine cup of tea" asap

Vegan cakes! Environmentally conscious & friendly service. I loved this place :)

Lovely soup. Freshly made roll. Entirety of flatware was compostable too.

Cute little coffee shop in Deans village.

Everything is freshly made and has a good variety for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free.
Also Meg, the owner, is one the loveliest people I've ever met. Plus, everything is biodegradable and it's been that way since 2012!
Would 100% recommend

Meg is the sweetest lady I've met! She makes fresh food, and has a lot of variety according to the different diets (Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free) Plus, she has a zero waste cafe, cups and cutlery are compostable! You should totally visit her!

Not only did I get delicious food from Meg, the extremely friendly owner, but also valuable advice on how to best spend my time in Edinburgh, given that I had only 5 hours before the departure of my train. She made me feel home immediately in a city (and country) that I visited for the first time, and that I had just arrived in.

I've lost my way to office as a courtesy of Google maps. Accidentally landed at this place ...and found an amazingly "friendly staff, tasty food at fair price". Tried the Scottish vegetarian Haggis, it was so delicious. I'd highly recommend this place!

The produce in this cafe is excellent and the owner is very ecologically minded because your cutlery, plates and cups are all compostable.

Lovely café near Dean Village with a nice selection of local savouries and desserts... Vanilla oatcakes were amazing!
Highly recommended for anyone in the area that is looking for somewhere to stop and enjoy coffee and some food.
K. S.
Amazing little place, a lot of love goes into making the food! I love the ethos and atmosphere when you walk in, lovely people. I would highly highly recommend the stromboli. I promise it'll be one of the most amazing, best value things you come across in a while!

We were walking along the Water of Leith Walkway through Dean Village when we stumbled upon this cafe. Delicious offerings and very friendly service. You won’t be disappointed. We were even coaxed into trying our first taste of Haggis. Not too shabby.

Owner is a very sweet lady. She is enjoying the recently got egg boiling machine that automatically boils n peels the eggs. Food is awesome and tasty, services are best. Cute little neighborhood cafe. Vegetarian Haggis role, was delicious, so was freshly baked croissant. Ohh and everything that looked plastic was actually compostable vegware, just brilliant. Love you Meg! - the bitter guy needing lots of sugar in the coffee

I popped in to take a breather from walking the Water of Leith. What a find, the ladies here are lovely.
The food is very good and the prices are very reasonable.
Plus the location in the beautiful Dean village is a bonus too.
A little gem in a quiet part of town.

A tiny and friendly café in Dean Village. The coffee is excellent and the staff is very friendly. The café doesn't have a restroom but there is one in the Scottish National History of Modern Art that is only 3-4 minutes walking.
M. J.
What a great little find! Traipsing through magical Dean Village one day, I wanted lunch. I asked some passerby’s and the told me to “go up this hill and turn right” and there it was. Fun little outdoor eatery with just a couple of tables but everything is made fresh in front of you as if you were in someone’s kitchen. Food was delicious. The cheese was amazing! Just a fun place to grab something quick and authentic in the beautiful, mystical Dean Village.

The breakfast was delicious and the staff were lovely. They know what fresh meand and how food works. Not too expensive, £ 3.00 for a breakfast roll. I would highly recommend it.

Lovely little cafe, with a rich variety of tasty soups, sandwiches and home baking, as well as staples like bacon rolls; tea and coffee. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and this gem of a place is a great stop on the way from town to the art galleries further along Belford Road, not to mention a boon for the locals who want a tasty lunch and a nice chat.
T. Y.
Lovely place with a wonderful soul! Well prepared food and snacks with a distinct sense of empathy. It's definitely worth to take a seat and maybe have a chat. This is a place to come back to.

Perfect little spot to fill your face with amazing food in between your wanders ❤️

Absolutely wonderful. Meg the owner is a treat and we loved talking to her. Remarkable place. Have a scone or the quiche!

I was fascinated by this "OK Braw", so I went to investigate, and what I found was most definitely not "OK". Fresh food straight from the oven, wholesome ingredients, surprisingly large range of food for such a small place, lovely staff... Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that "OK" is Scottish for "fantastic"!
J. S.
Fantastic soup, sandwhiches and cakes! All freshly made, delicious with a large range of options. Not cheap but good value. Highly recommend.

Superb find while wandering thru Dean's Village, lovely homemade soup, cheese scone, sandwiches and home bakes. Lovely very friendly warm service.
A. S.
This is a nice place for breakfast and lunch. Everything fresh and made to order Homemade cakes and scones etc Lovely staff and value for money Would definitely recommend
R. S.
Very good scones and tea. All cups, napkins and plates are vegware (no plastic and compostable).
R. M. M.
Recently opened, Braw offers the only place outside of the art galleries to get a coffee in this area. The lady who runs the shopd, who we've christened Mrs Braw, bakes all her own cakes and scones, and all the food is made on site from scratch, and you can tell. Long hours work for both locals and tourists from the Water of Leith walkway and those exploring the Dean Village. It must be a boon for the Belford Hostel visitors too, just across the road.

A must place to go if you are heading to the Scottish modern art gallery. Lovely food and really good value. Try their veg haggis!
A. A.
I've been in a few times since its been open and the best thing you can say about it is that's it's OK really. The food is not high quality, it's OK, the coffee is OK etc. You shouldn't go out of your way to go there, but if you're there anyway you'll probably get something that's OK.

Lovely food and great natter with Meg, the owner!

(Translated) There was a family with a grandmother and a grandchild in a small shop, and they were both friendly to the guests and their neighbors, and the food was delicious. It seems that you can enjoy delicious vegetarian dishes made from the ingredients of plants. Even haggis also asked me vegi or meat.

(Translated) The landlady is adorable, and the food excellent! Be careful, this closes early, so it is better to stall before your visit to the Museum of Modern Art.

La patronne est adorable, et la nourriture excellente ! Attention cela ferme tôt, donc plutôt à caler avant votre visite du musée d'art moderne.

(Translated) Really cozy little place. The place is simply furnished, without the possibility of seating inside. In return you get the most authentic British food and cakes. It's so simple and so amazing. The best meal on our trip to Scotland.
In addition, the owner can speak and understand a little Danish. Indeed, many of her customers could as well. Certainly a local place, but probably the most heartwarming of them all. Lovely place with room for everyone..also the four-legged.
(Original)
Rigtig hyggelig lille sted.
