Reviews of Castello Coffee
n.
A cozy little cafe with tasty food. They have the classics such as eggs Benedict and mine was delicious. The atmosphere is very relaxed and they also have seating upstairs. They don't allow bookings which makes the place quieter than most other cafés we've been to on a Saturday morning. I'm giving 4 stars because the stool I've sat on was uncomfortable, the interior design was aging such as the big extractor fan gathering dust and the staff seemed laid back which resulted in a slower service compared to other places. Overall, I think it's a really nice café and you won't be disappointed but they have room to grow.
A. W.
What a cozy place to have a gorgeous breakfast!!! Staffs were very kind and attentive! Their bread are homemade and it’s a big difference comparing with others coffee places. Price are reasonable and food is delicious! Strongly recommend!

As a visitor I can't tell you it's the best cafe in Edinburgh, but hard to imagine there is anywhere to beat it. The coffee is good, food is delicious, the staff super friendly and welcoming to humans and dogs alike. What's not to like, a lovely spot looking out across the green. Thank you for being here ! We will be back.

Lovely, friendly service of great coffee and fabulous French toast. Light and airy interior despite relatively small area. Highly recommended.
H. S.
Amazing place. Avo toast is super tasty, as well as the cinnamon french toast, not too sweet just wow.
The cappuccino is one of the best we ever tasted (and … we are pretty demanding on them !).
Definitely a good good good address 🙌
S. A.
I’ve ordered piccolo twice and I loved the notes of the used coffee beans. Also ordered poached eggs w/ avocado and mozzarella omelette, they were both lovely.
E. V.
Such a cute and welcoming cafe! Food was amazing and coffee was so tasty, with beans from AllPress Espresso. Reasonable prices, and such a cute atmosphere inside with a decent amount of seating. Following all COVID restrictions safely. Definitely recommend and we will surely be back to try more of the menu!

I just cannot stop coming😆 The best place to chill and study. Although wifi is a bit slow, it also means less distract when i want to study.
Friendly staffs, decent food! More importantly, coffee is perfect☕️
A. P.
Great little cafe that's tucked away in Edinburgh. Good prices for the area, lots of food for the price too. Tried their french toast and also pastrami and swiss bagel sandwich, both were excellent. Coffee is also great.
Visited again in 2019, they don't seem to have many food options anymore, so keep that in mind.
J. L.
I love Castello coffee on Castle street but this new shop on Bruntsfield links is even better. The same fantastic coffee and great tasty food but in a beautifully designed modern space with staff who are warm, friendly and welcoming. Probably the best coffee in Edinburgh. Highly recommend!
J. M.
Excellent breakfast and lunch with a good menu and decent portion sizes too - good value for money. Great coffee and friendly staff too. Highly recommended.
A. D.
Amazing coffee in fact best I have had in a long time, amazing carrot cake as well, good staff and great coffee ... what more do you need
E. R.
Great way to start the day - excellent coffee and scones.
C. N.
One of my favourite spots when in Edinburgh. Great coffee, lovely service, excellent place to have a sit down for work or relaxing. Very friendly staff.
S. E.
Castelo is a new addition to the Bruntsfield coffee scene. It’s located just next the links and it has great views of the park.
The Allpress coffee is pretty tasty, and there are some good food options available.
The wifi is solid and there are plenty of power sockets available. Together with comfortable seats and plenty of space it went directly to the top of my list of places to work in Edinburgh.
J. P.
Bijou space at the Bruntsfield end of the meadows. Friendly staff and decent cappuccino (regular and soy). Interesting food options with some Eastern European themes.

Good food and friendly staff
J. A.
Brilliant hip little coffee place with excellent espresso and great bites to eat, such as the sublime eggs Benedict. Staff is very friendly and helpful and do really care about the quality of the products they serve to you. If you grab a window seat you can admire Bruntsfield Links. Dug friendly!

Just nipped in 10 mins before closing as my husband and I hadn't eaten lunch yet and were keen to just buy anything to tide us over. The staff we so kind and made us two very delicious dishes, fresh, to take away; a veggie breakfast for myself (I think the best veggie breakfast I've ever had!) And a croque madame for my husband which he LOVED. I had to leave a review as the food was so good and the service amazing too. Thanks guys!
C. P.
Really decent find. Solid Coffee (Allpress) made exceptionally well. The flat white was spot on. Had the eggs Benedict and French Toast. Both dishes were very nice. The eggs Benedict comes on a slice of toast, the eggs are poached just perfectly. Not like some places that let it touch the boil and pull it out. I didn't have a plate of yolk. That's exactly how I like it. Hollandaise sauce was very balanced and yummy. Partner had French Toast. Sweet, Rich and just really tasty. Had a cute little table at the back. Walked in on a Saturday morning with no reservation and got a table straight away! Absolutely recommend this place for a good brunch / breakfast or just simply a takeaway Coffee.

Amazing coffee shop, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere. If I'm over this side of town again I'll pop back in!
P. D.
Seriously just go here. Why are you still even reading?!
Cinnamon buns are fresh baked on site - and amazing.
Banana bread wasn’t toasted - but F¥$# me it was good.
Latte ... One sec I need another sip ... Yep definitely nice and strong, full of bold flavour.
Not cheap coffee, but coffee that’s FINALLY worth being this price point. Thank you!!
F. M.
I’m from Glasgow so I’m not often in Edinburgh. I visited here last year and thought it was the best coffee I’ve ever had. Visited again today and it was even better than I remember. I’m not one to exaggerate or leave reviews either but it was genuinely outstanding. Nowhere else nails the temperature and consistency as well as here 👏
S. S.
Fantastic breakfast. A winner everytime. Go here all the time. 😃
M. P.
I tried the coffee here for the first time and it was delicious 👌
F. (.
A lovely place, with a mezzanine (which the 'claims the upper bunk' child in me always enjoys), good food and good drinks. A little pricy for me to want to go regularly, but then I'm poor, so that's most places. A great place for meeting up with someone you've not sat and chatted with in forever.
S. A.
Of the multitude of places to get coffee in the Bruntsfield/Tollcross area, this my "go to" choice. Smooth, creamy, & strong, just the way I like it.
There is a selection of sweets & pastries to choose from,as well as simple dishes to whet your appetite. Dog/children friendly.
Great staff who are always ready with a smile and time for a wee banter.
F. A.
Lovely interior and would be perfect for studying (lots of sockets and tables ideal for laptops). Also would be good for coffee mate dates. Really tasty cappuccinos and high quality food but the prices are quite dear. £7 sandwiches and £3.10 cappuccino and £3 for a brownie. Overall really nice vibe though!
K. M.
Great selection, even a GF vegan option
S. K.
My partner and I had a cup of coffee and a latte and an espresso were great! I'm looking for a good latte place but this place can be on my list :)
R. B.
Excellent coffee and food, consistently. Great value as ingredients are high quality. Very fair to all customers regarding seating.
S. R.
Light and airy spot to enjoy best flat white in Edinburgh
o. m.
Lovely friendly staff, amazing coffee, amazing food. Love the layout of the cafe, the space has been well used despite been a weird shape. The food is just so so good, Im vegan and there Falafel wrap is amazing as are there soups. One of the best places Ive been to in Edinburgh and trust me Ive been to a lot! Reasonably priced as well.
J. S.
Hands down the BEST coffee in town. The food is great too. The staff are awesome. It’s the best.
L. R.
A hugely comforting and pleasant environment to drink INCREDIBLE coffee with lovely staff.
P. K.
Lovely staff, beautiful light, and my favourite secluded seat in Edinburgh. The coffee is great, and the cakes and food are very good.
I can't get here often so when I can it's always a delight.
L. C.
I was here this summer (July 2018) with my mum and we had some wooonderful coffee and great breakfast. I don't quite remember what we ordered, but I do remember it was really tasty! Then we decided to buy some snacks for the road, and being Dutch we obviously bought the Dutch apple cake (amongst other sweets, which were delicious) and the staff asked us for a review about the apple cake.
I know I'm approx. 600yrs too late, but the cake was DELIIICIOUUUSSSS. Just needed too share that.
Overall experience, great! If I'm ever in Edinburgh again, I'll definitely come back!
I. M.
Eggs benedict and coffee to die for! Too good to take a before pic
W. M.
First and foremost this is the best coffee in Tollcross. They really know what they are doing and have a skilled staff working with some excellent beans. Along side this is a great selection of milk alternatives and teas.
The food is also excellent providing breakfast classics done very well, not an over done poached egg in site. They also do a solid range of lunch choices from sandwiches and wraps with some being gluten-free. They also do salads that I have yet to try.
All in all we lovely little cafe with a solid décor and the offerings to do very well in Edinburgh's coffee scene.
C. T.
This place is everything I look for in a coffee shop. Choice coffee well made and genuine and friendly staff. What sets them apart is their chefs who make varied and inspired cakes and savory food. Interior is cosy but bright. Fantastic place!
T. B.
Great spot for a coffee where you can look out across the park.
Coffee is made well and tastes how it should.
Good selection of cakes and other snacks.
Have not tried a sit down meal as of yet.
N. K.
Nice place, very airy, good tunes and plugs makes a great work environment. The coffee is high quality and priced right and the tea is generous. Haven't tried any of the food but looks decent.
M. M.
Absolutely love this wee place! Super coffee, excellent array of lunch, brunch and cakes - really well priced and the service is always lovely. Such a good addition to the area, on a quiet street with a sunny outlook on the park and a clean, cosy interior.
N. F.
Delicious coffee and cake! Friendly and helpful staff.
L. K.
Excellent coffee. Nice small menu for breakfast / brunch / lunch. Friendly staff, bright cosy seating. Falafel wrap was lovely and filling.
I. C.
I don't usually leave reviews, but I was so happy to find this place for lunch! It is very good - original and very tasty, affordable (in Bruntsfield! very rare!) and the service is great. This place truly deserve a 5 stars, I will definitely go again.
C. P.
So happy that Costello have opened up in Bruntsfield! The coffee is just as fabulous as it is in their Castle Street shop, but the new place has a lot more space with a lovely mezzanine level which provides lots of wee spaces to chill out while on the Wi-fi. The extra space also means a much expanded food menu with a nice mix of cakes and bigger meals. Happy days ☕
S. d. G.
Castello Coffee Co. bringing Bruntsfield to a whole new level greatness. Amazing Allpress espresso coffee, amazing food and even more amazing staff. Not to mention the best soup bosses and pro-juicers in town. The gaff looks pretty sweet and it's definitely a far cry from the dingy, uninviting haunt it used to be. Nice work Castello.
R. B.
Limited but comfortable seating on two levels but excellent coffee and food. Early morning toast and jam with sourdough bread that was the best I've tasted.
O. G.
Great provision for vegans, one of the best latte art I have seen on an Oat Milk Cappuccino! Tasty food, reasonable prices, friendly staff and cosy interior.
M. C.
Their coffee is good but the staff are a bit offhand unless they know you it seems. Been a couple of times just in case one of us was having a bad day, but it was the same attitude.
C. G.
After a bit of confusion on logging in the coffee was good but not as well made as the Italian girl who worked in Castle Street made it.
R. W.
One of the best cafés in Edinburgh Due to its location off the beaten track it doesn't seem to attract the tourist trade and is better off for it.
J. M.
Small and very friendly cafe doing a fantastic selection of sweet and savoury breakfast / brunch treats. Prices very reasonable and coffee brilliant!
J. R.
Excellent linzer biscuits and coffee. It's up there with the best in the city. Not the cheapest place but very enjoyable nonetheless.
I. O.
Consistently great coffee and food. Welcoming, friendly and unpretentious environment. Easily one of the best cafes in Edinburgh!
L. K.
Serving allpress coffee and excellently priced, beautifully made brunch. Great to chat with the chef over the counter too!
S. E.
Flat white is very well crafted. Beautiful view into the links.
K.
Nice wee place to visit. I have walked past it a few times but this was the first time I have gone in. Very pleasant atmosphere. Good scone and tea.
D.
Excellent coffee beside the Meadows (as featured in the Scottish Coffee Guide). Stunning design, good wifi & friendly staff :)
E. B.
Great cafe, Covid precautions in place. Great decor and delicious coffee - what more could you want?
T. F.
Only doing takeaway due to Covid19 but the falafel wrap is to die for. The coffee is good too.

Really cute coffee shop. I had a good tea there, I didn't see so many cake choices, though!
S. H.
Excellent coffee. Good food too. Friendly staff.
B. M.
Expensive coffee - £3.10 for a large latte, which isn't very large. Not hot either, but I was in a hurry, they would have heated it up if I asked.
P. R.
