Reviews of Coffee Angel
I. M.
It's nice enough, coffee pretty good. Decor is brutal, has zero curb appeal, way too much brown: window frames, tables, chairs, sofas, ceiling, walls, blinds, lampshades, tiles etc . it's relentlessly depressing.
D. M.
Great coffee beautiful server nice smile friendly service
N. u.
Cakes coffee tea cakes and also some savouries. Loved the tea, loved the cake. A lovely city caffee. Would return.
C. K.
Really amazing friendly atmosphere coffee is amazing well worth the travel across the country to get
E. C.
Good coffee and friendly staff. A handful of sofas by the windows but mostly normal seating, decor is minimalist.
a. k.
Excellent coffee brewed with in-house roasted beans (also possible to buy the beans) and good, friendly service.
D. C.
The coffee here is good, but every time I go in, I am reminded how incredibly slow the service is. The prices are pretty fair. The cafe really needs renovated, the decor is tired and many of the chairs are ripped and discoloured. That being said, it is a good choice if you want somewhere you can do work, as they have plenty room to sit-in, and free wi-fi.

The coffee/smoothies were really good but there wasn't really any atmosphere to the place.
J. L.
Excellent place. Staff are always upbeat and friendly. Good selection of wraps, sandwiches salad and soups, and cakes if you so desire. Also has a decent selection of hot drink and some really good coffee.
Decent value for money, especially given the area it's located. Can be a little difficult to get seated during peak times. But you can always get your order to go. Highly recommend for a quick bite if you're passing.

Excellent service and good quality coffee next snacks
K. B.
Nice place! Fantastic coffee and a large and delicious sandwich and pastry selection.

This is a great place for relaxing and reading a newspaper or getting on with some work while trying some quality coffee at the same time.
There’s plenty of comfy seating and it’s quite spacious as well so seats are usually available. The atmosphere is relaxed and the coffee is good so it’s also a great place to catch up with friends.
There are loads of snacks and things available as well as a few larger eating options that are all freshly prepared.

After a disastrous walk (bad signage on the Water of Leith path) we were desperate for a coffee .... and how lucky we were! Very smooth coffee, despite our sad requests for half strength and skinny milk etc, served with a friendly smile. Very nice cafe. Will go again. Oh, and the cake was good too!
H. B.
Great coffee and food. A nice place to meet or go to with friends especially as you don't feel like you are crammed in and people are listening to your conversations. The toilet could be doing with updating though as well as a mirror that can be looked in if you are smaller than 6ft!!!!
L. Q.
Visited as in the area and hadn’t been for a while. Agree with previous comments felt like it was an annoyance ! to the barister to actually ask for coffee and cake I don’t expect chat just less hostile vibes
S. P.
Great coffee, nice almond croissants, friendly & efficient service, seating indoors and on pavement. Independently owned. Support local. Covid19 safety measures in place.
C.
Coffee is very nice now that they are roasting their beans in house. Good array of cakes, decent selection of sandwiches, wraps, soup etc. Sandwiches could do with a change of fillings. Been the same for a while now.
B.
Great cozy little place! Amazing coffee that hands down beats the high street chains, friendly and lovely staff to!! I would definitely recommend to any coffee lover, the iced latte is especially yummy 😋
S. A.
Brilliant toasties - imaginative combinations of flavours - good coffee, and pricey pastries. Staff are competent but mostly not very outgoing, which is always a surprise to me (I go in here at least fortnightly, and have only once had any sort of banter with them).
I. M.
There were always a couple of cafes in Canonmills, but it felt like Coffee Angel was the start of the tipping point that seemed to encourage a lot more to open and the whole area has a lively buzz about it. It's a charming place with a good amount of seating (although can be busy at times) and serves a wide range of sandwiches toasties and cakes. It's not really a 'go to' place for me, more if I'm passing. But if you're in the area, maybe coming back into town from the Botanics, it's a an excellent choice for lunch or mid afternoon cake. I've always had friendly service here.
U. M.
Brilliant coffee and the best staff of any coffee shop I use. "Happy Saturday, guys!"
Particularly recommended Latte. Not to mention the Carrot Cake... *salivates at mere thought*
Top class establishment. Get down here and keep out of your Costas & Starbucks overpriced garbage shops!
C. P.
There’s an art to making a good latte. First of all, the coffee needs to be the right strength, the milk at the right temperature and there should be just enough froth to coat your top lip but no more. Coffee Angel has clearly read my mind on this front, as this is exactly how it serves its coffee.
If you’re looking for something to nibble on with your cappuccino, Coffee Angel has an array of cakes and cookies for you to choose from. More substantial offerings come in the way of soups and sandwiches, which are always fresh and tasty.
So what are the surroundings like where you are going to drink all of this coffee and eat all of this cake? Well, Coffee Angel is light and airy, and despite being a large premises, the owners have resisted the temptation to cram in as much seating as possible. Rather, large leather couches and circular tables provide comfort and relaxation.
Coffee Angel is unique in that it has clientele of all ages. Mums gather with their babies in the morning, and in the afternoon it’s awash with people from all different stages in life. A lovely coffee shop, it definitely holds its own in an area that is renowned for good coffee.

Service here is always great. They have plenty of space and some sofas. Decor seems a bit tired but ignore that and you've got yourself a nice little breakfast /afternoon coffee spot.
R. B.
Comfy place with free wifi, friendly staff and yummy coffee as well as a selection of teas! You won't feel out of place if you are their to do work, used to do a lot of my uni work here as it was nicer than the library - and had much better coffee!
Z. P.
Need to work from a cafe? Coffee Angel is a great choice – with free wifi, comfy seats, and good caffeine options for both coffee and tea lovers. It's also one of the few places where (midweek) you'd almost feel awkward if you weren't on your own, drinking coffee, and frantically typing away on a laptop. Or sitting in a mini power meeting on those little leather sofas. Yes, it's just like the office but with friendly, chirpy staff, an eclectic soundtrack and some pretty good fruit scones too.
P. M.
Good place for coffee and lunches.. I visited this with my office colleagues.. we had our lunch (sandwiches which they warm it for you /soup) by sitting there as they do have kind of sitting area. Overall it was good. 👍👍
S. M.
Coffee Angel is different from its neighbours on Brandon Terrace by virtue of not being a cafe (so no hot food). That said, the drinks, cakes and paninis are all good and it's worth a visit if you're in the mood for something lighter.
The coke floats and iced coffees are great on a summer day and plenty of space inside and on the street tables outside.
J. B.
Coffe Angel is situated in the Canon Mills area. It's a great place just to grab a sandwich and a coffee to go on your way into town.
What I specially like about this place are the comfy seating arrangements. The staff is very nice and although very caring, they give you the space and time to do your thing. Want to read a book or just do some peoplewatching through the big windows for a while? This is your place!!!
J. G.
Great coffee by great people. This is one of those Edinburgh gems which keeps delivering year after year. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by and grab a cuppa 👍
q. s.
Lovely coffee and pannini on a stop walking along the river of Leith.
G. N.
Great coffee, speedy service and a lovely atmosphere.
J. B.
Nice coffee with a good selection of tray bakes and pastries. Temperature inside was too hard when I visited but enjoyed the outdoor seating area
R. J.
Excellent coffee in a relaxed environment, the staff are friendly and there are big windows so you can watch the world go by. I come here often.
L. G.
Lovely oat milk flat white and baclava. perfect treat for a day off work 😊
G. K.
A now regular favourite, a bit more expensive but with it as it's a high quality coffee. Probably as I walk into work past it. Can't go in as often as I would I like.
D. G. B.
Great place! Excellent coffee and the best service!
C. L.
Great coffee and food with friendly staff. Has vegetarian food options in separate fridge. Great for catching up with friends, a business lunch or doing uni work.
D. B.
Strange experience ordered two pots of tea and received two very large paper cups with a tea bag hanging over them. Might be something to do with Covid ???
O. P.
Best cafe ever! The atmosphere, food, location - magnificent! Staff is extremely friendly. Highly recommended!
S. Y.
Was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful coffee that was served. Fast service with very friendly staff, that cafe was very light and had plenty of space.
L. L.
Coffee Angel has a wide range of lunch options, to sit-in or takeaway, at reasonable prices. It has a pleasant atmosphere, with big windows that are ideal for people watching!

M. C.
A good local coffee place with friendly staff. This isn't a chain store and you can tell that when you drink their coffee.
F. C.
Great coffee and Greek cake. Nice to sit out at a table and watch the world go by.
C. M.
Along with 3fe, Coffee Angel has THE best coffee in Dublin. the coffee here is much smoother, velvety in texture in comparison to the more coarse 3fe. Both are superb though!
K. B.
Nice setting, good chai latte, shame about the service and the dried out toasties.
B. S.
Lovely wee place and superb coffee.
