Z. G.This place is awesome!!!!! All the chihuahuas are super cute and they love to jump and sit in your laps! The staff are so sweet and patient, teaching us the right way to pat the chihuahuas and sharing stories of the cafe. And you can see that they love the chihuahuas so much!! Would definitely recommend the place to those who wanna have a get away from work or study 🐙
K. F.While looking for the best route to Edinburgh Castle this morning, Google's wizards realized I needed to know about the Edinburgh Chihuahua Cafe... And right they were! We hastily booked a spot and were excited to meet the dogs!
After arriving, we were led in and we picked a spot to sit. The hosts were informative and kind, and gave us all the information we needed to know. The dogs came out and started picking spots. We were able to let them sit on our laps and pet them, then give them some food to nibble on.
We were so happy to visit and it was a needed time of relaxing and sharing some moments with the dogs!
Also, the cappuccino my wife ordered was phenomenal, so don't skip out on drinks while you visit!
S. B.I had an amazing experience, the dogs are gorgeous and so playful. 50 minutes of absolute joy. The girls who work there are all so lovely, knowledgeable and help you get the most out of your experience. The one "attraction" I would 100% go to again if I came back to Edinburgh!!
A. T.Such a calming experience and the dogs are so well behaved. You can really tell they’re treated very well here and unlike other animal cafes the dogs are encouraged and placed on your laps so you will definitely have some quality one on one time with them.
The staff also try to rotate around the dogs so you’ll probably have a couple of different dogs on your lap through the session.
100% a must stop for a relaxing rest during your day!

T. P.Great experience, lovely dogs that were quite happy to snuggle up on your lap and go to sleep - but they were the ones that came to us and were free to move away if they wanted to. I ended up with three pups on me at one point.
They could get a little fusy at times, especially when someone goes to the toilet. But they are animals, not toys, which is to be expected. Cake and coffee was delicious and the staff were friendly.

L. A.Wonderful experience! The dogs are adorable and so well behaved and socialised! The drinks are standard but they are served in cute cups/ pots. Fits the whole ambience. Perfect way to mingle with various chihuahua breeds in a safe, fun environment. 🥰

G. J.From the moment we stepped into the cafe we were made to feel so welcome. The staff are lovely, friendly and nothing is too much of a bother for them. We booked as a treat for our daughter but in all honesty us adults had just as much fun as she did. We loved meeting the dogs and finding out about them, the little book on the table which includes details of each dog is a lovely touch. Its definitely worth a visit if you're in Edinburgh.

C. G.I visited the Chihuahua Cafe last Friday with a 10 year old girl and we had the whole place to ourselves, which was amazing. She was a little apprehensive because, although she loves dogs, she'd heard that chihuahuas can be a little barky and aggressive. Her mind was soon put at ease as the gorgeous wee dogs were absolutely adorable and friendly and just wanted to chill on her lap. The staff were great too and very knowledgeable and we had a lovely cuppa and a cupcake. The place itself was spotlessly clean and there was absolutely no doggy smell whatsoever. I'd highly recommend a visit.

M. M.My boyfriend and I travelled up from Manchester after hearing about this place and we were not disappointed!! The place is full of adorable, happy and healthy chihuahuas, that’s not only you get to see, but you get to pet and have sat on your lap! Such lovely staff who care for the chihuahuas and make sure everybody gets to pet them and have some snuggles :) I couldn’t recommend this place more, the signature drinks were lovely so definitely give them a try when you’re there! We hope to be coming back to Scotland to see you again soon we had such a lovely time :)

The chihuahuas were absolutely adorable and extremely well cared for, and being able to give them a cuddle was just what the doctor ordered! The staff were incredibly friendly and kind, giving us more insight into the personalities (and petting preferences) of each of the dogs.
We ordered the Unicorn Hot Chocolate and white chocolate and raspberry muffin, both of which were absolutely delicious! 🧁

And then, of course, the dogs are the stars of the show. Such sweet girls, each with their own personality, happy to curl up on your lap for fusses or treats. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

E. A.I cannot recommend the Chihuahua Cafe enough, it was a truly wonderful experience! The staff were so attentive and we got so much cuddle time with the Chi's. The staff made sure we all had time with each dog and that the dogs were comfortable too. The coffee and cake was great and having a couple of the Chi's in birthday dresses for my birthday made my day! I will 100% be back!
S. S.It's a bucket list experience. Reading the reviews and getting feedbacks from friends who were there, we didn't have high expectations. The kids enjoyed it. We were lucky, they could spend plenty of time with the dogs. The dogs are cute, the staff is as it is, the menu is sad. The price is high for going there regularly, but it's not a therapeutic session, so it's competitive if we look at it as an attraction. We got what we expected and we got richer with an experience.

A. P.Cuteness overload!! 本当にかわいい♡ As chihuahua owners ourselves, we were SO THRILLED that Google maps recommended this place to us. The dogs were VERY well treated and looked after - and extremely well trained (ours could learn a thing or two from these girls!).
The online booking experience was very easy and the prices were very affordable! Having lived in Japan and been to Cat Cafes, this Chihuahua Cafe was the first time I've ever experienced something to the same standard. Chihuahuas are very delicate and the place has a good amount of rules set to visitors (no sudden movements or walking around) which have the dogs' best interest and comfort at heart! They were all very well treated dogs and were very happy and would approach you without being told to for snuggles and kisses.
Here's what to expect:
1. Arrive 5 or 10 minutes early
2. Don't knock on the door (the dogs wouldn't like that) so call them when you arrive
3. You're then shown to your sofa/ couch where you're meant to stay put for the whole session
4. They give you a warm cozy blanket to drape over your lap (chihuahuas are OBSESSED with blankets) to protect your clothes and keep the dogs happy
5. At this point two chihuahuas came over to greet us and after a few sniffs jumped on our laps (heart fully melting)
6. They love chest strokes so if you're good then they will curl up on your lap for a little snooze
7. If you book the 1 PM slot then this is their lunch time (!!) And you get to feed them little kibbles
8. Your cake and drink then arrives - they're what you'd expect from a cat/ animal cafe!
9. Everyone around us had a chihuahua each on their laps - these dogs don't like sharing laps
10. At the end of the session, the lady stands up and says it's the end of the session and these sleepy gentle creatures all stood up in unison and walked out of the room into the back room! So so well trained!
Overall we had SUCH a lovely, soul soothing, calming and therapeutic experience. This cafe is a must visit in Edinburgh.

M. H.Literally amazing! We have been travelling Europe and needed a pet stop since our pup is back home staying with my mom. They treat these dogs with respect and have boundaries that they make clear and guide everyone through, it was so nice to get some cuddles with the dogs and also have a delicious coffee and treat. Also helps that it was super easy to book a time slot on their website!! When we come back to Edinburgh in the future we will forsure be back here!!

I also had a Birthday cake hot chocolate during my visit, which was absolutely delicious! It comes in different colours: I've seen pink, green, blue and purple.

The Bailey Mocha I had was also very good especially with the rainy Scottish weather, and all the dogs were incredibly sweet and friendly! Very reasonable £10 a hour plus £5 for a drink and cake MUCH cheaper then leading coffee shops and you get to cuddle up with very cute behaved chihuahuas. Team seem family based or close and do care for the dogs well being. Recommend for value for money.

G. W.Today I had one of the most wonderful experiences of Scotland. It is hard to describe how amazing this cafe is, I truly left feeling true euphoria, ready to continue on, buzzed for the rest of the day!
What more could you ask for than great drinks, food and most importantly the loving dogs! They are all very well looked after and you could tell they absolutely LOVE the experience of being pampered by all the guests as well.
The staff are very informative, friendly and polite. If you also read the story of how this cafe started and their goal behind it, it makes you appreciate it even more so. This is a true local business worth supporting as I think we are short of special experiences like this one.
Do not hesitate to get this booked and have an experience to remember for a long time!

M. Y.Went here for a birthday treat and loved the experience. The operators were very proactive in making sure everyone got a chance at holding, playing or interacting with the dogs. The day we went was one of thier dogs birthday (Elsa) and everyone was dressed up. The dogs were very interactive and it was a brilliant way to spend 50 minutes. The time does go very quickly.
Two things that personally I think need to be made a little clearer. There is no entry until your appointment time, this leaves you standing outside in the cold/rain so be prepared for that or turn up exactly on time. The cakes on premise were very eclectic, I'm think perhaps a simpler option (chocolate/vanilla) would not have gone amiss. These did not take away from the experience I must add, let's be honest your here for the dogs.

Great café to go to if you want to spend some time cuddling chihuahuas
C.Overall, my partner and I had a positive experience here. However, we both did have a different image of what the experience would be like - we imagined that the cafe would be slightly bigger and more spacious with guests being seated at tables with the dogs running around freely (something similar to Kitty Cafe in Birmingham). Instead, Chihuahua cafe was relatively small (think of a small-sized living room with 3-4 sofas). We were invited in and asked to sit on the sofas, where the Chihuahuas then came to sit on our laps for the full 50 minute session. My partner and I also found it slightly awkward as sitting in the "living room" type setting meant that you could see other guests and there was always a member of staff in the living room, which made it feel like they were supervising us. In a way, it felt like a school class-room based activity for 50 minutes. Otherwise, it was nice to spend some time with the Chihuahuas (albeit not very active dogs).

R. A.Came as part of my mum's 54th birthday as part of a day in Edinburgh and can only recommend the service provided. The dogs were amazing of course, but beyond that the staff were amazing and helped to provide a really calm experience for the enjoyment of the dogs and staff. Had one chihuahua (Bea) curl up in my lap for about 35 mins of the session and had several opportunities to pat others throughout their time wandering between groups. Staff were very knowledgeable and, although some customers have complained that the dogs didn't seem like they wanted to socialise, I really didn't think this was the case at all. The staff knew exactly how she would prefer to be patted to ensure she felt safe and comfortable and after a pretty short time Bea settled down and was incredibly chill with me.
We got food and drinks and a birthday package as part of the experience and all of this was also really good. My mum is a vegan and the staff were great at accommodating this, meaning she didn't feel left out at her own birthday as she has at other places in the past. Had an amazing time overall and will definitely consider returning again as it has been the absolute pinnacle of my mum's birthday! Can't recommend enough to others considering.

It's about a 5-minute walk from the Princes Street Tram Stop, and has a cute little pink sign comprised of a cupcake with a little Chihuahua sitting inside, showing the equally sweet and cute nature of the Cafe.
We were taken inside with a group of 10 (including ourselves), and upon entering the space, the room is filled with all sorts of cute decor, and a big painting of a Chihuahua which from what we were told was the alpha of the "Pack" (Or Packet because of how small they are.).
Speaking of which, the Chihuahua's.
These adorable little bundles of fluffy joy filled the room, seeking affection, cuddles, and food. They were all very well behaved and we got to cuddle at least three of them. The alpha was particularly fun to watch as she kept a close eye on her whole pack.
None of them barked, yapped, fought, argued, they were all so well behaved, and as I know a fair bit about dogs already, they all appeared to be very well cared for, and were incredibly loved.
We got to interact with the staff, they all seemed wonderful and genuine, happy to share their stories and personalities, and gave us a fun little bit of trivia about the Chihuahua's, one of which called Fairy appeared in the theater production "Legally Blonde", if that's interesting at all.
All of the food and drink provided was very yummy, hit the spot, and matched the cute theme the Cafe was going for.
If you like cutsie activities, definitely give this place a visit when you can, you'll feel right at home.
L.Super cuddly doggies and nice staff! Dogs will take the initiative to choose their favorite couch or someone they like. The first chihuahua was very active, so he left me quickly. When I thought I was going to be alone till the end of the time slot, the friendly staff immediately brought me another gentle and well-behaved chihuahua. At the end of the time, the staff will gather the puppies together to take a group photo, the feeling of being surrounded by them is sheer bliss!
N. B.Booked a session with cake and a drink and it was great. The dogs were really chill and so social. Just chilling on your lap or next to you.
Staff was also very nice and up for a chat about the dogs. Had some unicorn hot chocolate and cake, both delicious.

I was seriously impressed with the whole thing from start to finish. The dogs were great, staff were friendly and the birthday goodie bag I purchased was a good keepsakes. I noticed one of the other reviews mentioned they felt ‘sorry’ for the dogs, which struck me as a little odd. They are clearly well cared for and enjoy what they do.
If you like dogs, and tea, this is a good place for you to visit! Hope to be back in the future.

L.If you want to sit in a cafe and have doggy snuggles then this is the place! The dogs were very friendly and cuddly and if they didn't feel like sitting with you then they got up and left. The dogs weren't forced to do anything and just did as they pleased. The staff was friendly and able to answer all of my questions. I had a good experience overall and would definitely recommend going if you like animals. However, I do have a few critiques. The one staff member was on her phone for the majority of the 50 min session and didn't really engage with us or the other staff member very much. Also, the coffee and cakes were just 'okay' but I guess that's not really the point of the cafe.

The staff clearly know and care about the dogs - each one with their own personality and character, which the staff talk about enthusiastically with you so you know who you currently have curled up on your lap and who is currently running around in the play area. A lovely spot in the city with gorgeous views, and the inside is playful yet calm - the perfect place to sit down, talk with your cake, and cuddle with your new best friends. As a dog person with my own dog, it was a really sweet experience and I recommend it to everyone I hear is off to the city for a break!

C.The dogs were lovely, it’s just a shame they were all so tired and I think a fair suggestion would be there should be a time for regulars and a time for new comers as I felt really disheartened when none of the dogs really wanted to see me, they spent less than a minute with me wanting to see people that regularly came instead, one fell asleep on me but only as I was a free lap, dogs were placed on people to make it fairer, just a shame there wasn’t much interaction, the outfits were a bit much aswell, I thought it would be more like going round a friends house for a cuppa and a play with the dogs but instead they were all very sleepy as they had just gone for a walk. Which wouldn’t have mattered if we were let to calmly enjoy the dogs company but instead were constantly talked at by staff when I was just trying to enjoy my time.
All in all it was ok but I’m not going to write home about it as I was disappointed that it did not live up up my expectations unfortunately

hello, unfortunately my social anxiety meant I didn’t want to complain, as I said it would be good to have bookable times for people who aren’t regulars (as I totally understand why a dog would go to a regular instead) and the “encouraging” of the dog to sit with me is what I didn’t like, I just wanted to sit quietly and stroke a dog, I know you were trying to make it fair at the time but it felt a bit forced, I think having separate times for regulars would help!!

The dogs are all so well looked after and are so well mannered. The staff are very considerate to the dogs and their customers, and their ways of introducing dogs to customer are so professional and caring. I see this as the dog equivalent to the fantastically ran Maison de Moggy, the Edinburgh cat cafe.
Being surrounded by beautiful tiny dogs as I ate cake was really heartwarming. I didn't have a dog on my lap in the beginning, but by the end I didn't feel left out as one of the staff coaxed my favourite to me.
The staff are so considerate and knowledgeable, and clearly adore and know the dogs very well. They are lovely hosts, but I love the way that the dogs come first - the rules may seem diva like, but they create this lovely peaceful environment where strangers and dogs can enjoy some time together. I will be back with friends!

There are 8 dogs total, and they let everyone pick the dog to walk with. You can tell that the pups are loved and exceptionally cared for. We had such a great time walking them in the nearby park, and the guides stopped to let us have plenty of photo ops (one being right in front of the Castle). Not to mention, the dogs are so cute and full of personality. I would highly recommend this fun experience and will visit again next time I'm in town!

It's a great relaxed atmosphere, and they have aircon (it's for the dogs but people benefit too!). The dogs are loving and seek out laps for sleeping/cuddling. C.What a wonderful experience! We loved every second of our visit. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and the tea, cake and drinks are served in lovely glasses, cups and plates! The chihuahuas are so cute and they just love to snuggle up to you. You get a blanket placed over your lap and they just come running, make themselves comfy and settle down for some cuddles. If your little buddy gets up and wanders off to another lap, you soon get another one placed on your lap. Staff are so attentive and nothing is too much bother. I've been to the cafe twice and had such a brilliant time on both occasions. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Edinburgh!

B. N.I booked this as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday, he's paraplegic and has no movement from the chest down. I was unsure at first as I didn't want things to be difficult for him with the stairs etc, however after discussing with Maxine I was reassured. We arrived slightly early in order to get my boyfriend up the stairs, when we got there one of the girls was cleaning the stairs so that he could bump up on his bum and it wouldn't be dirty! They brought extra staff in to make sure he got in and out safely - nothing seemed too much bother! The dogs were wonderful, so gentle and cuddly. We ordered the cake and coffee deal and everything was absolutely delicious - I was particularly impressed with the vegan brownie! I would 110% recommend coming here, we enjoyed every part of the experience and I was blown away by how helpful, kind, and considerate the staff were!

C.Fantastic experience! Owners and staff were incredibly welcoming and engaging from the moment we stepped through the door. The experience is extremely chilled out, so keep that in mind when booking (don’t expect to be running around with the Chihuahuas).
While the experience was lovely, I was under the misconception that these Chihuahuas were rescue dogs or adopted (as this has been the case with other animal cafes we’ve visited). It’s unfortunate to hear that 7 of the Chihuahuas are 1-2 years old and were all bought from different breeders (was told this by one of the staff members). This would mean that they were effectively bought in bulk for this business. To the owners - PLEASE consider adopting/rescuing Chihuahuas if you choose to expand further.
I’ve given 4 stars as the experience and the owners were lovely - you can tell immediately that they genuinely care for the dogs. I didn’t give 5 as I personally don’t agree with how the dogs were acquired from a moral standpoint.

They offer a wide selection of cakes and beverages. I am gluten and dairy intolerant and often struggle to find places that accommodate my needs but I was very well catered for here. A few guidelines to follow such as not picking them up, no walking around unnecessarily, speaking to them in a normal tone, etc, but these are to protect the dogs in the end, so very understandable. Staff are very friendly and spend some “one on one” time with you chatting and laughing, which I really liked. Compared to other animal cafes I have previously visited, I felt like I was just visiting friends in their own home and enjoying the pets together. Intimate, cosy, delicious Red Velvet Cake slice and sweet Chihuahuas! What more could you want!! :)
C. D.Had the most amazing afternoon at the chihuahua cafe today with my 5 year old son. Staff were amazing from booking it to taking 5 minutes at the end to speak to my some about our own chihuahua. Dogs were gorgeous especially lady B, who took a shine to us! They were super friendly and very well cared for. Rules are in place to keep the dogs safe. Would highly recommend it for an alternative coffee date. Also dog lovers heaven. We will definitely be back. Cake and coffee were fab too!
E.Their way of advertising is super effective: they stand outside with the chihuahuas and hand out fliers (this is how they got us). You have to make a reservation but it’s so worth it. There are 8 chihuahuas, they’re all really cute and sweet, 2 of them are more sensitive so you must be gentle with them. You sit down and the dogs come to you, my dad had one little dog on his lap for the entire time, my sister and I had 4 of them piled up between us on the couch. You can get drinks, I recommend the orange oolong tea, and tasty little pastries are served too. The session is around 50 minutes long and the time goes by so quickly because it’s so fun! The staff are super friendly and make you feel at home, and of course the chihuahuas are friendly too. You can tell they are loved and cared for. Overall such a special place, I would recommend it to anyone who likes dogs.

A. A.This is the cutest little café I have ever been to and that's without taking into account that the majority of staff are the cutest little chihuahuas in Scotland.
The human staff are so friendly and wonderful. They will share the dogs stories and teach you how to best bond with the dogs, what to do and what not to do.
The dogs get to lead the way and have retreats if they need some alone time with out strangers patting them and giving them snuggles. They are wonderfully cared for and their needs are perfectly met. I did worry before going there that a cafe like this might be to stressful for such tiny dogs but the whole setup is perfect. If one of the dogs doesn't want to stay in your arms it will just walk away and find some place that better suits her and is allowed to do so. But don't worry, another one will come along shortly to check you out. You have to book before hand since it's a small café with limited space and over crowding would be bad for the dogs. They split the day up to few sections over the day and let people in one group at a time.
I love it. Me and my daughter are coming back for a double session soon.

When you arrive you are directed to one of their super comfy seating areas and given a blanket to lay across your lap and immediately doggies just come to jump up for a cuddle!! Most of the dogs are super docile and will just curl up on you and let you pet them. Two of the girls are a bit nervous but they are marked with a little bow tie so you can tell which ones to be a bit more careful with. The staff are very helpful and friendly and will tell you all about the individual dogs' names and their personalities too.
We ended up being surrounded by dogs so eating and drinking was a bit difficult, but worth it because the cake was great too :D Shame it was only an hour!

Tanya, Ross and all of the rest of the wonderful staff are so knowledgeable about the chihuahuas and always answer any questions you could ever think of. The dogs are top priority and are so well taken care of, you can tell they’re genuinely happy to be there and to have the attention from the visitors! All of the chihuahuas are super friendly, even the more timid two are super affectionate. The information cards before entry are so useful! Always have a great selection of food and drinks. The café is far better on an interaction basis than some other pet cafés I’ve visited and if you’re without a pup for too long someone will guide one to you so you can get a full experience. Worth every penny and I’m so happy to see how well the café has been doing with the regular updates on their Facebook and Instagram about events etc. Would highly recommend this to anyone, keep up the great work guys!

Make sure to book ahead, and you'll have a small gang of adorable and loving tiny dogs eating treats out of your hand, sitting in your lap, and cuddly the h*ck out of you. The people who run the place love the dogs and put their safety first, so no worries that any animals are being exploited. These dogs love their "jobs" and the people who work with them obviously *love* them and treat them well. Coffees, teas and cakes are great too. If you're debating whether or not to add this to your itinerary, just do it!

S. L.Cafe is beautifully decorated, food delicious and dogs were stunning. We were greeted by a curious Hepburn and cheeky Cleo when we walked through the door. Ama was on the Chais lounge so we proceeded to go sit with her. Such an adorable dog who was so happy to meet us. The layout and decor of the cafe is beautiful and comfortable. Could not have felt more relaxed and happy.

j. c.Have to say I am in awe of this Café. The way the dogs are treated, staff well trained, gorgeous food & wonderful ambience. Yes there are rules, but its for the animals welfare and visitors too. Some of the reviews on here are so horrid and rude, & to be honest, if you choose to visit an animal café, what do you expect?. Some animals especially chi's are sleepy & won't always interact, but the staff always make sure that everyone who visits gets a cuddle from one of them at least. These dogs are so well cared for it's plainly obvious & I admire the owner and staff for bringing such joy to many people who sometimes for whatever reason, cant have dogs at home etc. Also we mustn't forget that any pet needs a break now and again, so yes pee breaks are important and rest time too which seems to tick some people off for some odd reason. However, as one who knows, this café is well worth a visit and you will not be disappointed in any way, shape or form, plus you get a lovely slice of cake and drink.... What more could you ask for !? … Keep up the good work.

We went for our daughter's 18th birthday, and pre- ordered a special birthday treat for her, and cake and drinks for all of us.
