Lovely little cafe - staff are very friendly and welcoming and it’s the best coffee I’ve tasted in Edinburgh (been through them all). They’re cakes/pastries are delightful, I wished I could have tried them all. The dine in area is communal but cosy and the interior aesthetic of the joint is boujie but inviting.

A lovely place with excellent coffee! The interior is so nice and warm, it’s a pleasure to be in! Very Instagrammable too :)

Lovely little cafe. Great coffee and home made cakes. Welcoming with friendly staff. Very nice atmosphere. They've done a top job here 👌

Such a beautiful cafe, with delicious cakes, scones and other treats and fantastic coffee. A family affair as well, not to mention being supremely dog friendly. Exactly what Causewayside has needed for a long time.

Cozy café with delicious homemade baked goods, lovely pottery and wood furniture. Nice flower arrangements and relaxing background music, not intrusive. Recommend the plain but delicious scones and dark chocolate oaty cookies. Veggie and non-veggie options available. Only limited indoor seating, but it is possibile to enjoy a coffee sitting on the bench outside.

I’ve been tracking the opening of Kate’s and wanting to visit for some time. Finally managed to get a chance to visit! Just unreal! Cosy and snug when you walk in. Lovely atmosphere. The food / cakes / fresh baked treats were just unreal! Staff were so friendly and warm PLUS the coffee was awesome! Served at the right temperature and not nuclear hot. Dog friendly too which was even better! Next time I’m taking my dog and enjoying a few more coffee’s and slices of cake! A must visit place! The pheasant sausage rolls are out of this world! The Christmas cake was awesome! If you don’t visit this place then you’re missing out!

Great wee spot! Perfect for families before or after a play in Meadows playpark. Such friendly and accommodating staff. Coffee is fantastic & big selection of cakes to choose from. Highly recommend!!

One of my new favourite cafes, the atmosphere is peaceful, the food is fresh and delicious, and the coffee is well made.

Home baking at its finest. No better place in Edinburgh for delicious, heartfelt food that warms you up. The cheese scones are the star of the show (although the frangipane is a close second!).

Kate and her wonderful cakes. Warm, friendly, relaxed and tasty. Coffee served well and freshly baked cakes and savouries cover the counter. Already a local institution.

Kates is my number 1 go to in the new grange/newington area. A truly special place that makes you feel as if you have walked through her back door into Kate’s kitchen whilst she’s baking, just the loveliest homey vibes. Not to mention the coffee is absolutely heavenly, and a lovely offering of high quality local grocery items you can nab before you’re out the door, stuffing your face with one of her delectable baked goods…. Perfect stop on your way into the city for the day

Causewayside's best kept secret! We were absolutely spoiled for choice of scrumptious cakes and bakes that went down well with equally delicious coffee! Will definitely be back again 😊

Friendly owners, great coffee, great cakes, great value. Probably our new favourite cafe in town.

Agree entirely with other positive comments. Lovely cafe, great coffee, delicious food, very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Great new spot. They offer some fantastic baked goods and a lovely cosy interior. Only gripe would be price. It is currently £3.20 for a takeaway flat white. Whilst the coffee is undoubtedly good quality, for a takeaway this feels a little steep when compared to equivalent shops.

Popped in today for the first time, but certainly not the last. Coffee was good and the freshly baked items we had were all excellent. Atmosphere was quaint and welcoming.

Really cute little spot. Had a stay in Edinburgh and this place had opened up on my second to last full day. Coffee + treats were fantastic, quite sad to not be able to return until my next trip to Scotland. Congrats on the new shop!

Stopped by this compact and bijou coffee shop and bakery with my pal Kevin the hair dresser. The sausage rolls were to die for made with real pheasant and the coffee was exceptional. We both had Victoria Sponge and it was so good we had to have another cake which I think was called frangipane and it was very tasty too. We were served by gorgeous redhead who is the proprietor and bakes all the goodies fresh every day. The coffee was so good I took a pack home along with a dozen organic eggs and a loaf of sourdough bread.

Lovely little cafe, great selection of freshly baked goods. Nice intimate atmosphere and Kate is very welcoming. No wifi, good for short bursts of work on hotspot or for writing. No childseat but space for pram when not too busy.

Amazing cappuccino and delicious bakery topped up with a cozy atmosphere. Kate was really lovely! A small jewel to discover in Edinburgh :)

Do yourself a favour and try and pop in when Kate makes the pesto and cheese swirls with sun dried tomatoes, absolutely to die for.
On second thoughts pop in at any time because everything we tried was absolutely fantastic, the Victoria Sponge unbelievably light.
Will return as soon as possible.
