Reviews of Kilimanjaro Coffee
I. A.
Popped in early Sunday for breakfast. Lovely friendly staff and prompt service. Nice shabby chic look to the furniture.
Had eggs benedict which was excellent. Nice thick toast and perfect runny yoke eggs. Orange juice was freshly squeezed from oranges and coffee was good.
C. S.
Lovely cafe with great atmosphere and lovely staff! I had an oat milk latte and it was delicious, though I also tried my friend’s chai latte and it was way too sweet for me. I love the atmosphere in the cafe and how they open until late hours, unlike many cafes in the city. They had a lot of pastries and cakes available, though I didn’t see anything gluten free I could eat.
M. R.
Enjoyable atmosphere and decent food. Wasn’t super impressed or feeling well roasted from their coffee. The atmosphere was lovely and staff decently friendly, but not overly. Would I come back? Given the number of other coffee shops, this one doesn’t stand out to make want to return.
C. K.
I visit Edinburg for five years in a row and I think that’s the place to enjoy the best traditional breakfast. Bacon from another dimension, haggis as it should be, eggs bread mushrooms and sausage.the coffe was really really great. We also tried some other breakfast options that were also amazing. The sweet opinions were ok but nothing special. The place has great coffee also.
G. D.
Went there to try a new café during the Amex Shop Small period. Staff was very nice, cappuccino made with a very good milk and the brownie delicious. Recommending the place and the delicious brownie!
On the other hand, some tables are quite small and there's no internet WiFi access.
G. G.
I love this place, was second time and was great. Service is nice and helpful. Good we have in this bad time place like this. Feel again like normal. Food is delicious 😋 I will be there again soon! You need to try too!
D. F.
So lovely. Amazing coffee and hot chocolate. Had the tiffin which was divine but everything looked so good.
G. B.
Lovely coffee, nice staff, and incredibly tasty and freshly cooked (and massive!) breakfast. The courgette fritters were particularly delicious
T. K.
Had Benny for breakfast- the best eggs benedict ever! Highly recommend. Lovely cafe serving lovely food and drinks
L. E.
Lovely little cafe, has really nice little cubbies for 2 people which is very cosy. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. There is a variety of baked goods (incl. Vegan & gluten free options). They have a nice selection of different teas, the peach and chai are both really good. Coffee is nice and they have oat milk for those of us who dont want dairy milk.
J. H.
It was such a chill place! The pastries were great. We got the smoothies which were good too! I noticed they use refillable glass milk jugs so score one for sustainability. Its a lot bigger than you'd think on first appearance so that makes it great for sitting for a while working or to have a chat with friends. I'm excited to go back and try the brunch menu
M. O.
The soup wasnt bad (spanish sweet potato) and the brunch was tasty. The service was average.
S. I.
Everything about this place is Amazing. Great coffee
k. K.
A long time favourite place for me, small brunch style menu done very well, efficient staff and the greatest coffee beans! i love the fact it opens early morning (preferable to the late afternoon as can be heaving with students escaping lectures then!) It has small 2 seater booths allowing for privacy to read & savour your caffeine
D. R.
We went there for breakfast and, oh boy, what a great meal that was! First of all - it’s a little bit different from what you can usually get in that kind of places (we ordered big veggie and toast with balsamic mushrooms), all ingredients were fresh and everything was so tasty. Coffee was decent (I’m used to speciality segment) but in my opinion a little pricey. Place is clean and cosy. Overall - strongly recommend if you’ll be anywhere around.
And to the team - thx guys! Keep it up!
S. B.
Saw this cafe on a recommended cafés to write in. Was excellent. We had an avocado sandwich which was lovely. Highly recommended (though didn't have plug sockets that we could see).
E.
Delicious brunch. Speedy service.great coffee
M.
Gotta love some good ol’ scones and hot choc!
S. G.
It is really a very positive and calm place , I had a breakfast tea. Service was good and friendly . Becky at the front was very helpful and nice. Great hospitality. Lovely Tea.
Thanks Becky
A. R. S.
Central cafe in southside Edinburgh - good coffee and plenty of cake/pastry options. Sufficient seating - is usually quite busy
L. F.
Amazingly cosy place, nice selection of pastries and savoury breakfast plates. Would really recommend to anyone.
A. A.
After a few days I have finally found the place with a really good coffee in Edinburgh. And it was not easy, trust me! I understand, coffee is not a typical drink for Englishmen but especially in Edinburgh to find a place with well-roasted beans is hard and I did it! Thank you guys for my wonderful morning!
R. B.
Place was really cute. Had a good variety of items on their menu. Loved the food.
D. M.
Fantastic breakfast made with quality products and super friendly service. Highly recommended 😉😍
K. P.
Lovely place, couple of tables outside too if the weather allows. Had the shrooms breakfast which was nice - not as good as I remembered but still nice.
H. C.
Cozy and friendly with awesome homemade cakes. Carrot cake was lovely. Tea was loose leaf. Popular with students on a Saturday afternoon.
V. K.
Loved the place. Had a nice brunch.
A. H.
Lovely cafe with a relaxed and warm atmosphere, perfect to chill in for a couple of hours. The iced chai latte I had in particular was delicious - haven’t seen this done cold before!
M.
Very nice place, good layout and friendly for remote working if you disregard the lack of WiFi and any sockets. Good drinks and food and generally enjoyable place to spend a while in; the secluded areas allow for a slightly more private 1:1s too.
C. M.
Awesome vibe and good coffee. I would definitely recommend their sandwiches, super soft fresh bread with generous filling. Their fresh juice was great too!
N. H.
Scrambled egg on toast, superb! Latte, great! Soup of the day, nice! A must-try every time when I visit Edinburgh!
G. S. T.
Love this cafe in Edinburgh! There’s always a great atmosphere and the food and coffee is always delicious. It’s great to sit on the sofa and watch the world go by.
The chai latte was too sweet for me but had good flavours
k. c.
Amazing! Place on the Southside of the City! - their "Kili Breakfasts", flat Whites and Fresh Orange! are totally the best! - staff are always very polite and helpful! too....
H. M.
Kilimanjaro is one of my Edinburgh staples. Great vegetarian options here, though the vegan options are more limited. They have some of the best coffee in the city, dark and strong! Their scones are home made every morning and are worth a trek across the city to have one. Can't recommend them highly enough!
M. J.
Cool place to kick the day off! Good brunch menus and gorgeous tasty coffee. Working space is available, relaxing space also.
A. J.
I have been here a few times now and it’s always fantastic. Best chai latte I’ve ever had! Great for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea
A. P.
This place is decent, had the avocado toast which is of course pricey no matter where you go. This one was pretty worth it, had 2 poached eggs on too which were delicious. The environment was alright, came here to study but no outlets anymore. All other things on the menu are pricey as well. The staff seemed uptight and a little frustrated with me asking questions about the food. The seats weren't very comfortable either.
F. A.
Pretty good coffee in this place, nice vibe here and I appreciate that it's open until 8pm - a nice alternative to having to default to pubs for evening socialising. Plus, they have remodelled it and have cute little booths at the back with excellent potted plants - I mean, just look at this little guy! >>
A. M.
I went in mid-afternoon on a busy day when there was no regular bread left for sandwiches. The person behind the counter was happy to offer the brunch menu and adapt one of the offerings to suit me. Great service, welcoming attitude, delicious food as usual
C. A.
Delicious veggie breakfast, great cozy atmosphere 😍
P. H.
Met a friend here after work. I chose a tangerine and ginger tea and it was superb, made with real bits of tangerine and ginger.
I. N.
Great avocado and hallumi sandwich. Interesting teas. Really enjoyed my quick lunch with them. Stayed for an extra bit of carrot cake. Also very good.
J. C.
Super nice coffee shop on Nicholson St. Good vegan & veggie options! Try the avocado and halloumi sandwich. Fresh fruit juices too
M. B.
The veggie breakfast was sublime and excellent value for money when compared to other city centre places. Would visit again next time I’m in town.
V. C.
Cozy wee place, like the vibe and due to the longer opening hours compare to other coffee shops I've been a few times.
It's nice enough but always super packed and its hard to have a conversation. Coffee is ok(they have only oat milk, no variety at all) and cakes aren't fresh. Had the nicest chai latte tho!
A. A.
Friendly, relaxed atmosphere
nice green jasmine tee, delicious coffee latte
nice service,I recommend <3
S. J.
They do a fantastic vegetarian breakfast. It's an excellent variety of breakfast items and is really filling. We particularly enjoyed the vegetarian haggis and the marmalade.
E. Y.
Cakes always great .
Lovely eggs Benedict
Service always friendly
A. E.
One of the best cafes in Edinburgh!! Definitely try out the halloumi and avocado sandwich 😍😍😍
O. K. K.
The food is delicious. The avocado toast is amazing. The combination of avocado, poached egg and ricotta was really good. The coffee is ok, not bad at all, but noting special. I really like how the cafe is laid out, it’s perfect for studying.
O. J.
Nice atmosphere, lovely coffee and delicious breakfasts
R. E.
Great coffee, smoothies, views, atmosphere and yummy cheese scones! Lovely place to work from with your laptop although there is no WiFi
V. S.
I pass by this place almost everyday and it's always packed - managed to get a seat on a weekday after 5 pm and it was lovely. Attentive staff and great coffee!
F. B.
It's a good place for brunch! Nice coffee as well 👌
D. M.
There was so much milk in my coffee that I couldn’t say for sure whether or not it contained any coffee
A. P.
Great food. Lots of vegetarian options. All good brunch things
H. F.
I go here every time I am in town. This is an amazing full Scottish breakfast and is really a pleasant place to hang out and eat, read, or get some work done!
D. J.
Serving good tea and coffee, and can recommend their bacon rolls, about the only cheap food option.
D. J.
Great coffee, delicious meals and lovely staff. A bit on the pricy side.
D. O.
Excellent brunch! Scottish breakfast was delicious!
A nice local cafe
D. N.
Friendly, quick service with delicious breakfast/brunch menu! Keep up the good work Kili ☕
M. L. A.
great coffee and hot chocolate, tasty food
V.
Cozy and amazing brunch for a good price
Long black is very good and the brunch menu is great!
M. V.
Very chilled , dog-friendly place.
M. M.
Coffee and scrambled eggs were delicious and the staff extremely friendly and I especially love the casual vibe
S. S.
Great cofee I had a capuchino and shortbread everything was great whit some lovely service definitely would come back
H. B.
Excellent food, coffee and service. Nice decor, it's popular so find seats first before ordering.
A. E.
They make Good Americano
K. G.
They've taken a lot of things off of the menu since I last came unfortunately so not much in the way of food options but their coffee and tea are always wonderful. Tried the peach blossom tea for the first time and it was delicious! Their scones are incredibly popular and rightly so, they look amazing!
A. B.
Excellent scones and coffee. Highly recommend.
M. J.
Fabulous coffee and great veggie brunch.
A. P. F.
Very good, fast service, this Coffee Shop has a very friendly atmosphere and produce excellent food.
Extremely popular with students! 🤩
H. A.
The guy who handles it is rude, kills off entire vibe of the place. He speaks even more rudely and can put you off very quickly.
Do not have charging ports. Which is fine but be aware of that before you go with your laptop.
G. P.
simply iconic. you could do no better in Edinburgh than this here Cafe.
O. H.
Well worth a look. A nice atmosphere with cosy booths. Yes, you may have to wait a few minutes at the counter (it's a popular spot), but you will be rewarded. The decaf oataccinos were smooth, caramel and awesome. Get "the fritter", a nice twist on a big brekkie. Zucchini fritters are topped with bacon, avocado and feta. Then the kicker - homemade-tasting chutney. What a great idea! I could eat this every single day.
P. F.
Good coffee, not so good cakes
T. B.
Basic lovely local cafe near Newington!
I. G.
Unreal coffee and the staff are so lovely
V. K.
One of my favourite coffee places in Edinburgh. Good coffee and tasty scones
S. M.
Delicious coffee, tea, massive scones and a lovely eggs Benedict. Been a long time since I was last there and the place has been done up a bit with some nice new seating. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Good service, food and drinks came fairly quickly.
J. P.
Over priced for the Southside
Considering you can see into the rather shabby kitchen space at the back.
Nice coffee just over the top expensive.
Crammed in a bit.
Profit over people is ok but not to the extreme.
10 bucks for 2 drinks and 1 cake. Youd think you were sitting looking out onto something special....
Its unfair.... and trying to be too cool for school. 😎
K. W.
Best coffee EVER! Idk how they make their coffee or where they get it from, but it's so rich, smooth and warm tasting; absolutely delicious!
A. S.
Nice place. Didn't like the inflatable Christmas decorations, otherwise very decent.
E. V.
Really nice atmosphere, a lot of seating available. Only downside is it's on the pricier side
C. J. C.
Easily my favourite (okay, one of, there's so many good ones!) coffee shop in town. The breakfasts are AMAZING. Always good coffee, good food, and lovely atmosphere. It can be a little cramped at times but really that's part of the vibe. Super cosy! Due to the nature of the building it is unfortunately not wheelchair friendly - though there are small tables outside that can accommodate anyone with accessibility requirements. I'd happily walk past a dozen cafes to get to this one.
D. G.
Tasty sandwiches, friendly service and good coffee.
E. F.
Very friendly staff and nice little place with sectioned off seating that feels snug and safe. The food looks amazing, just a shame no gluten free bread as an option for sandwiches
E. O.
Finally! After 4 days spent in the city and trying awful coffees in different places we found this one! The stuff is polite, the atmosphere is calm and relaxed, and the desserts are tasty. And great coffee! The prices are a little bit high, but the quality worth it.
G. P.
If I were to ever break my newfound vegetarianism, it would be for Kilimanjaro's full Scottish breakfast on a hangover. I would order a scone with clotted cream as well and have few regrets. The soup is amazing too, and the bread it comes with is hard to beat. And of course, everything everyone says about the coffee is true. It's delicious.
L. R.
The coffee and scones were lovely but it wasn’t clean at all! Asked for water with the rest of the food order and was pointed to some very dirty glasses with even dirtier water jugs. All the cutlery had spots on it, tables were sticky and when they brought the food over, even the napkins were covered in crumbs. Nice, busy spot but could just be a lot cleaner!
N. L.
Cool little coffee shop that I visited to grab some breakfast. I ordered the Kili Breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised considering it was just a little cafe! Breakfast was quick and delicious, especially the breads and the bacon. Egg were cooked to my liking and and the mushrooms and haggis are good. The tomato and sausage were simply "okay." Music selection was great, seating was a bit weird (a bit too cheap, not sure what the effect was supposed to be), service was prompt, but the coffee really wasn't any good! I can't give a cafe 5 stars if they can't nail the coffee.
M. R.
Best coffee and breakfast ever!
S. C.
I had an oat milk flat white and it was delicious: the coffee had a touch of spice that is unique. I also tried the lentil and coconut soup which was not to my taste but, given that it was the last portion, is clearly popular. The cafe itself itself is down to earth and comfortable.
K. M.
My favourite coffee flavour in the city. I only get coffee (latte) to take away. It is often very crowded, so getting a seat there is not easy. I have not yet tried any of their food they offer. The cafe has a nice vibe when you enter the place with few tables outside, but sine the street is a quite busy one, it wouldn't be my preferred seat.
The staff always very friendly and I have never been disappointed by their coffee taste.
K.
Flat white and Fruit scone with jam and clotted cream was perfection
B. V.
Nice café that pulls off being lively and cosy at the same time. Coffee is full-bodied and well-made and the large scones are delightful. They serve various brunch and lunch options too, which looked appetising on neighbouring tables.
D. B.
The coffee is OK and they do nice scones. The table seats are vaguely uncomfortable and the tables are small. There are other more laid back seats but they are quickly taken up.
A good enough place for a coffee but nothing special.
A. D.
The best scone and juices I have tried!
O. O.
Kilimanjaro makes the most amazing soups and other lovely dishes and the bread that goes with almost every dish is scrumptious! It's a very quirky place with mismatching tables and chairs that give it its own charm and make it nice and cozy. I eat there regularly as they have great (and quick!) service that is essential when you are out on your lunch break. Staff is extremely nice and helpful.
J. F.
Great food, juices and teas, nice atmosphere, used to be able to spot a certain holywood star there from time to time also.
However, the reason for three stars is the unbearable coffee blend (red brick?) they are using which is sour and bland. Unfortunately, this seems to be the trend with cafes these days. Sour seems to be 'aficionado' and most people don't care since they mask it with milk and sugar in different ways.
D. M.
There is a lot of competition for coffee places in this area of Edinburgh but this place certainly holds its own.
The coffee is fantastic and it’s a great place to catch up with friends or grab a quick bite to eat for lunch. It has a very relaxed, welcoming atmosphere although it could do with some more couches as they always seem to be taken.
Highly recommended for a coffee break when in the area.
H. B.
Still great, 10 years on. I used to be a regular at Kilimanjaro in my student days, and was glad to see that it hasn’t changed much. I love the atmosphere here: the music and the surroundings are never too loud, it’s the perfect place to sit and relax over a cup of coffee and a book. Plenty of vegetarian options for breakfast, the scones are particularly good. My favourite cafe in Edinburgh.
L. M.
Excellent selection of food, coffees and teas. We had a wonderful vegan black bean soup with sourdough bread, and the sandwiches I saw others eating looked fabulous ! Next visit will have to try one of those.
A. B.
I really like it here, nice place to pop in for a coffee and a chat after work, I'm an especially big fan of their iced latte and fruit scones! (but maybe that's just me)
Nice and relaxed cafe, with some comfy sofas and even a few outdoor tables for those few sunny days.
Staff have always been lovely to me, but can sometimes seem a little bit disinterested.
Also have been caught out as they don't have wifi, which doesn't really matter unless you're trying to do some work there!
C. S.
An Edinburgh favourite, mostly for students, but it's a reliable source of decent hot drinks and good juices.
I was dragged along for breakfast, anticipating a very brief one when asking for gluten free as the menu didn't look hopeful. So I was pleasantly surprised when they bent over backwards to make sure that I was provided with a good amount and variety of food! My opinion of them has definitely gone up.
M.
great place for a quick chat or for studying
D. J.
This is an excellent place for an early morning festival breakfast and a good strong coffee. They have various scones and pastries on offer and their cooked menu is fantastic. The courgette fitters with cheese and poached eggs are even GF. Yum.
S. A. M.
Always great food and coffee!!
Great selection for brunch serving scottish breakfadt as well!!
The smoothies are usually not my favourite due to the combination of ingredients but this is just a personal preference...
Seats could be renewed and be more comfortable...
L. G. (.
Really good food and coffee! I would recommend the thick toast and the tea is made with tea leaves.
Always support independent 🙂
S. S.
If you are looking for the 1995 talk to each other coffee shop where you can read a book and chat with your friends , this is the place. No wi fi is the best thing they could implement.
F. J. E.
A lovely calm space. The tea was really good (they had soya milk available). I just had a hot roll but it was pretty tasty and my friend had some carrot cake that smelt divine.
G. S.
Great brunch! Be warned the portions are way bigger than expected 😋
A. F.
Edinburgh is not renowned for its coffee, but this is lovely with a complex flavour profile. Real dark chocolate in the mocha and my wife, who would know, says it is undoubtedly the best in the city. And go for the Kili breakfast, excellent quality and great value.
M. D.
Delicious food with exceptional coffee, staff always friendly and knowledgeable ☕😋😁
A. R.
They have some of the best breakfast and brunch menus in town! They're delicious, and have really tasty options for vegetarians too! I love their courgette frittatas
T. W. L. C. L.
Had delicious breakfast here - such a variety of original and interesting foods - loved it.
P. R.
Nice place for coffee and cake.
R. F.
PROS: Comfy enviroment. Food is in general good. Benny eggs and kili breakfast are tasty. Scones and teas are great. Very nice lentil curry soup.
CONS: on peak hours, it can be very difficult to move around the place without hitting someone else. The potato and cheddar cheese soup is not good as it tasted like garlic (I do not like garlic). Coffee taste like over roasted or burnt.
C. C.
Fabulous coffee, brunch and cake!
C. B.
Good menu, especially for breakfast. Great service from friendly staff who know how to make a good coffee/tea. Have been going to this independent establishment for years and have always had a good experience.
A. O.
Visited to escape the rain a little. Had a delicious chai latte and slice of cake. Staff were extremely welcoming. Great place to hang out.
Y. P. H.
Always enjoy their latte and fresh crispy croissants! Tried my first egg Benedict here, it was fast and also enjoyable. Though the hollandaise sauce tasted a bit strangely sour at first, but it was surprisingly match to eat together with melting york and tender slices of ham. Asides from the rush hours, it is a very cozy little place to unwind the mind and warm up the belly from daily bustle.
L. M.
Yuuuuum, such good soup! There's always about 5 options and you can order it in 2 sizes (small/ large) depending on how hungry you are!
They also make amazing coffee and have a simple menu for other food.
B. H.
Charming and cosy interior, friendly staff, outstandingly delicious coffee and cakes (from somebody who loves coffee and worked in multiple cafes!). Great surprise passing through Edinburgh, so much better choice than all the international franchises!
B. P.
Quick and nice service, great food and amazing coffee!
A. C.
They were busy but totally ignored us when we stood in line, so we eventually gave up and just grabbed a pitcher of water and glasses and sat at a table. The business suggests its a good spot, but for the short interaction with staff, service was underwhelming.
B. T.
Iced mocha was only okay but staff was very friendly and atmosphere was great for spending the afternoon reading 😊
C. S.
This is one of the best places in Edinburgh for breakfast, pastries, soups, paninis, scones and coffee! Really everything i tried here was just amazing, always nicely presented, the staff is super nice and the atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. Especially for Edinburgh where it often rains and is windy...it feels like a movies to enjoy a hot coffee and a nice conversation or a book in this place. Highly recommended!
L. B.
Nice chilled out cafe. Had the Kili brunch, toast and marmalade was nice and the haggis was great. There's a great assortment of locals, tourists and families and the place has a nice vibe. Prices were reasonable too
A. E. B.
One of the many little gems of Edinburgh. Really nice coffee and delicious scones. They offer take away and sit in. Totally recommended
S. G.
One of the nicest place in the area to have tea. The carrot cake is the best. Love this place.
M. F.
One of the best places for a cup of coffee around the University of main campus. It was my frequent destination when I was a student and I am gladly coming back. Definitely the best served coffee in Nicolson Street and agreat alternative to the chain coffee shops.
E. L.
Very nice friendly staff service though it can get very busy and very hard to find a seat. Been there a few times and lucky to manage to grab a seat at the window or at the back~
Generally, my experience it is lively and a buzzing place. And when you order something they always ask you to take a sit and bring the drinks to you. It's a great service especially the staff is always on their feet~
A.
Quite nice coffee, and lovely fresh juices and soup. Try to get a seat on the sofa, its very comfy and allows you to do some people watching. Friendly staff as well and nice vibe!
D. T.
This is now our favourite cafe for breakfast when we visit Edinburgh. Scones are always freshly baked, carrot cake is excellent. Lots of veggie and vegan options for breakfast.
C.
Great location. Love the fruit smoothies and fresh orange juice.
M. M.
The coffee is not very good and there is no WiFi. Other than that I would recommend it. It's frendly place, and they have great soups every day at not particularly high prices. Good place for a non expensive brunch, too.
O. M.
Fantastic all day breakfast!
A. C.
Great blend of coffee and friendly, personable service.
Bright, clean and christmassy
M. R.
Long standing coffee house established in 2005. Tasty scones baked every day and a perfect brew every time!
W. M.
Friendly staff, great baking (apricot muffins and carrot cake) and chilled jazzy-funk (my terminolgy!) music. Enjoyable coffee with a mate. Decor nothing to do with Mount Kilimanjaro which was a suprise given the name?! There must be a story here......
J. S.
This is my absolute favourite place for brunch in Edinburgh but I was so disappointed today when they flatly refused to scramble eggs for my other half (who has a lactose intolerance) without milk or butter. Such a shame and so unexpected.
L. C.
Cozy place, good coffee for a reasonable price. Kind staff. Great place for students, both for meetups or individual studying. Gets crowded around noon. Water automatically included for free.
M. S.
Nice individual place with good coffee and friendly staff. A few big comfy seats and booths at the back. It's a good place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh.
A. B.
One of the BEST places to get coffee in town! Their food is also very delicious. Highly recommend!
V. C.
Lovely place, nice sitting area, great coffee.
They give around the last sandwiches at the end of the day, I like this, not because it's free but because it does not go to the waste.
Really nice place and staff :)
B. C. S.
Kilimanjaro is a little bit off the radar, with no web or social media presence, but don't let that put you off. It's an excellent coffee shop with a focus on providing top-notch coffee and good food. It succeeds admirably it both goals. It's motto could easily be "quality over quantity".
You won't find a vast menu of different types and methods of making coffee, nor an extensive menu. Instead you'll find a focus on doing a few things very, very well.
N. D.
Stopped in for a quick coffee before getting a bus. Coffee was one of the best coffees I have had in a long time. I will defo be back for some coffee and cake soon.
A. G.
Love that place!:). The coffee is fab, staff friendly and good vibe BUT...your carrot cake guys... i bought 2 slices to go last week, was mega dry and barely edible, disappointed:(
G. C.
Lovely coffee and the blackcurrant jam is to die for! Hubbie had avocado on toast with feta. Enjoyed it. Nice surrounding. Friendly service.
D. S.
Flat white was excellent but could have been hotter. Fruit scone with jam was also excellent. Window seat was lovely and nice loos.
H. S.
Good coffee; cake.
N. G.
Amazing breakfast! 7 years on and it's exactly as I remembered it... Great croissants and scones and plenty of savory options to choose from.
S. Q.
Real good food and cofee.
W. M.
Excellent breakfast options both large and small with a very particular blend of coffee. Constantly good, a southside staple for Edinburgh breakfast.
B. D.
Great for coffee dates and their scones are top, also I've collected about 80 of they're damn stamps but never once not lost the card long enough to collect
N. F.
Great place for brunch! The coffee is on the expensive side for me compared to other great nearby places but the food is definitely worth a try.
1. S.
Scone is better than coffee :)
D. U.
Always love enjoying the coffee there! The beans are so good, I often buy them for home
L. V.
The lattes were great and the full Scottish breakfast left us stuffed for the better half of the day. Lovely Sunday brunch spot, helpful and nice staff!
d. c.
Great cafe selling square mile coffee. Delicious food in a very relaxed atmosphere.
M. E.
Best sandwich I’ve ever had. I had the aubergine. The bread was incredible and the balance of flavors was amazing. Highly recommend!!
A. K.
Great cafe, great homemade scones ect, always go there.great atmosphere.
Z. M.
Returned here multiple times. Nice selection of coffee and food. The haggis here is some of the best! Nice place to bring friends who come to town.
E. P.
Very relaxing and warm coffee house. Especially if you're out in the cold old day. The staff are gently and the tea are a must try!
M. M.
Kilimanjaro Coffee is a great little lunch spot when out and about in Newington and around the university. It's a handy place to meet friends for lunch, grab some brunch or catch up over coffee.
They do a scrummy Chai latte and always have a great selection of different soups (much more interesting than other lunchy places). They also do a tasty eggs benedict.
As it's such a good spot for lunch, it does get very busy around lunchtime and can be hard to get a table. I suppose that's a good sign though!
C. K.
Great coffee (Latte tastes like a flat white) and the Kili breakfast is a great brekkie of brunch dish
R. L.
Great atmosphere. Had the fritters from. The brunch menu, would definitely recommend! Good place to study or to have a brunch with friends.
L. V.
Always quite busy as it's a popular Newington cafe. Coffee is nice but the carrot cake I ordered there once was not really the best I've had.
C. A.
Lovely space inside, with good coffee and a good selection of cakes. Would come again.
M. D. M. V.
Best breakfast ever
J. N.
Really good all day veggie breakfast with veggie haggis. Really good coffee and the staff were really sweet (and stylish!)

B. H.
Nice little venue! Well sized portions too. Can feel quite full when it's busy, but that's to be expected in the centre!
m. a.
I haven't been there is quite some time. But it's a cool place for hanging out and for meetups etc.
Can't recall the menu or the food quality etc. Quite a favourite amongst students.
S. B.
The cafe can become cramped when busy, especially during university term-time, and is on the expensive side, but I would still recommend it for its buzzing atmosphere and good coffee.
G. A.
They have absolutely nothing to do with Tanzania or the Kilimanjaro apart from the pictures and name. I found it quite disappointing. They serve alright food and fairly nice drinks.
B. Y.
My favourite coffee shop in town and second best in making delicious coffee! Would like to see more vegan options. :)
J. I.
Nice breakfast options, very speedy service and cosy cafe but toilets weren't very clean despite being quite early when I visited.
M. H.
Great food, average coffee. The decor is lacking and the seating isn't comfortable.
A. C.
Very good veggie breakfast, the place was just a little bit busy
K. L.
Had a mini refit since last time we were here and much better. Booths have been fitted down the corridor to the toilets 😁
T. O.
Manages to feel cosy without being cramped. One of those cafes where I could spend hours enjoying the buzz of caffeine and crowds.
S. L.
Decent cafe in the area. Nothing really separating it from a number of places nearby. They have good seating out the front then some along a long corridor.
A. C.
Quiet cafe, nice place if you need to get some work done in a different setting. The scones are very good
B. R.
Delicious coffee and lovely little booths

Service is good and very popular. However, coffees are very small and décor is battered, seating cramped and a bit worse for wear.

Cosy, independent coffee shop with excellent food. Seating is rather tattered and uncomfy if the shop is busy.
