Reviews of KONJ Cafe
A. E.
First time in Edinburgh and just visited this lovely cafe! Alex(if I am right) was extremely friendly and she knew her stuff! The Persian breakfast was absolutely amazing and their home-made jams taste like the one my mother always make! The feta cheese and the butter took me to my childhood, just needed walnut to travel deeply there 😄! Should come back later to try their cookies ☺!

You have to go here if you’re in Edinburgh. The woman who runs the cafe is an absolute angel. She is so caring and attentive and the food and drinks are wonderful. My one regret is that I didn’t get to try more of the menu! The cafe has such a nice atmosphere and is a lovely place to spend a morning. Definitely can’t wait to go back!

I was visiting Edinburgh for holiday and I had to work a little bit. It was 5 minutes away from my hotel so I chose here to work.
The owner is a lovely and friendly lady and I wish I had more time to talk with her. I had a small latte and Persian cake, the cake was something I never tried before but very floral and sweet, so that it went well with the latte.
The counter seat where I was sitting was cosy and it was perfect for me to stay for a while to get my work done.

The absolute best Iranian food experience you could ever ask for. Everything is homemade and tastes amazing.
Do yourself a favour and stop by for the tasty cookies and cakes, the out of this world dishes and the heavenly tea.

As a Persian person, I can say that the food is nicer than in Iran. Everything was fresh and authentic, real ingredients and traditional methods. It's a lovely place with delicious food and a warm atmosphere. The service was amazing, the owner/chef is a lovely lady who really looks after the costumers individually. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
K. M.
Small Persian cafe with a vast selection of baked goods and vegan/vegetarian but also various meat-inclusive options. Plenty of option for conservative and exotic palates. Tried the refreshing saffron and chia seeds lemonade, delicious Mirza Ghasem (smoked aubergines, tomato and eggs with lavash bread) and amazingly tasty morning energy bowl with date syrup (see video). Nice and very friendly staff and owner. Can sit only 6, but take away is an option. Thank

It was an awesome experience. I got their Persian mezze Platter and it was heavenly! My non-Iranian friends fell in love with their Persian Saffron latte and Shapoori.
Their Avocado toast and Mocha were perfect as well. I absolutely recommend this place!
L. E.
Such a beautiful café. The place is adorable, homely, warm and incredibly welcoming. The staff are so nice and a pleasure to hold a conversation with. and the food was an absolute delight, beautiful and delicious. Such unique flavour since it was out first Iranian experience. We loved everything about this Café and would recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to come back.

The saffron blondie was delicious. Coffee was good. I'd like to try more of the cakes.
The Persian Love Cake did have a strong taste of bicarbonate soda or something but still delicious (but not as nice as the saffron blondie which was super gooey).
Love the ambiance of the cafe. Very cute and authentic. The owners are lovely. Instagram-able (if that's your thing) and delicious food
T. D.
Delicious food and tea. My favourite breakfast here is Nargesi, spinach and eggs Persian style, and Persian black tea with saffron sugar, cardamon and rose petals. Thank you Farah, you're a wonderful cook.
E. U.
What an absolutely fabulous experience! We made reservations for breakfast and Faranak greeted us like family. Everything is super fresh, tastes great, and is made with such love. We had coffee (rose & saffron latte - the best!!) house-blended teas, entrees from the Persian brunch menu, and a few sweets. If we lived in Edinburgh, we’d be here every week if not every day!
E. K.
The ambience- It’s like you’ve visited a friend. You forget you’re at a 5 star restaurant until the food comes. Then the bill comes and you’re confused about why it’s so affordable. The owner really is a friend to everyone at Konj.
K. P.
Absolute gem of a cafe! Exceptional service, delicious food and cosy ambience. The saffron latte tastes light Persian delight, you have to try it!
Konj has a great selection of Persian food made daily if your looking for something fresh, vegetarian or different. They also have a excellent selection of teas, coffee and cakes if your just fancy a snack and a break.
100% recommend.
C. G.
The place is cozy and welcoming. The food is literally amazing, it really is a warm homecooked Persian meal. There are lots of vegetarian and gluten free alternatives too and the lovely owner will advise you on what to get (everything is delicious tho). Highly recommended, we will definitely go back!!
E. M.
Had such an amazing time at Konj. It feels like eating in someone’s home and they make you feel so comfortable and looked after. Would totally recommend trying their brunch, especially the mezze platter!

We paid a visit to Konj on the last hours of the last day of our short trip to Edinburgh, and I wish we had visited this place on day one!
This place is a corner (konj) of heaven!
Staff: Farah, the lovely owner made us very welcomed on the first instance. Staff are simply the kindest and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and at home! The atmosphere is nice, cozy, chilled and fresh with lots of plants.
Food: we ordered Mezeh platter and Ghorme Sabzi. If you want to experience a home made, mum’s cooking Persian dish, this is the place. Platter? Each bite tastier than the other with true authentic taste. Portions? Generous. Serving? Beautiful.
It’s a shame we could not try the famous saffron latte as we had to catch a train, but we have plenty of reasons to visit this place again. Definitely highly recommend.
m.
Stumbled upon this place on a morning jaunt and was incredibly impressed. Run by a passionate lady, this little gem has authentic Persian food and a plethora of teas and coffees available. The service was superb, as was the food.
A. O.
Words can’t describe the amazing meal my partner and I had in Konj.
If you are looking to try Persian food or if you would like to try amazing new cuisine, you have to come here!
f. h.
Lovely healthy food. Flavours amazing. The best Persian/Iranian dishes in Edinburgh. Amazing teas, Iranian spices and influence. Owner is lovely and staff are friendly and polite. Fantastic place if you want a delicious lunch if you are interested in flavour and health. Best place for morning coffee or afternoon tea. Gorgeous clean and beautiful interior.
C. C.
Excellent coffee! Friendly staff. Good vibes all around in a cosy, community cafe. One of my top 3 coffee spots in town
A. M.
Mezze platter was top-notch, especially the mirza ghasemi. Saffron lemonade was refreshing, and the khagineh and Persian love cake were both incredibly aromatic and delicious. Visited twice within a few days, and will definitely go back on my next trip to Edinburgh :)
A. F.
The drinks are absolutely AMAZING and the owner and the other that work at the cafe are all so lovely. It feels lovely to sit there.
L. B.
Everything about this place is amazing. Great selection of Iranian and western home cooked healthy food, attractive decor and really great service. Reasonable prices. I would really recommend this place for anything from full meal to just a coffee.
L. S.
Amazing Iranian Place! Exceptionally good quality! You can really taste the freshness! Much better then Edinburgh's other Middle Eastern Restaurants which tend to only serve kebabs and sauce. The owner really takes pride in her restaurant, hope one day she can open a larger restaurant, she deserves it.
C. G.
KONJ is the best café in Edinburgh and Farah is absolutely wonderful. The place is very cozy and welcoming and the food is wonderful. I've been coming here for years and I always leave happy, relaxed and full. I really recommend the saffron late, there is nothing else like.
K. J.
Wonderful cappucino and the desserts (especially the Pistacio Baclava) are to die for.
The staff is very polite, cheerful and this place just started my morning on the right foot.
A. F. Ţ.
Kong Cafe is the best Persian Cafe in Edinburgh, and one of the best cafes regardless. A cozy, friendly atmosphere and a diverse but always interesting clientele. Go and delight yourself with their minty Ghorme Zabzi or its array of succulent (and frankly decadent) cakes. The head cook and cafe owner is a spirited and welcoming Iranian lady that will remember your name and how you like your falafel. The two barista ladies couldn’t be more different from each other and yet compliment each other neatly, offering a unique atmosphere.
PS. Try the house saffron lemonade!
A. C.
Konj Cafe was one of the best breakfasts / brunches I’ve had in Edinburgh! The environment was so nice, and the quality of the food and service was fantastic!!
Highly recommend to anyone visiting the city!
S. D.
The owner of this place is very kind and friendly. She's a lovely person to chat to as well. She is a fabulous coffee maker and an incredible baker. Everything you find there is freshly baked and worth every penny. There's a flavor of the day coffee we had last time we went, this was a strange but definitely best coffee I've ever tasted. Every visit there was a success.
m. z.
Konj means favourite spot and this cafe is my favourite spot in Edinburgh lately. The food is great and the owner is a lovely woman. The food is a mainly Persian/Iranian but there are other options too.
There are vegan and gluten free options.
d. n.
Wonderful gem of a cafe. Amazing food and the staff are so warm and friendly. We had a fabulous breakfast and they couldn't have done anything more for us. Attentive and kind. 10 stars not 5
S. G.
Very nice owner and deliciously tasty cakes! I go there almost weekly for coffee and pastry, and they always have something new and so good.
A. A.
Cute little cafe with absolutely delicious food and extremely friendly people!
A. D. C.
This little hole in the wall cafe makes for a delightfully homely place to indulge in some traditional Persian fare while watching the world go by outside. Owner and chef Farah is the quintessential host - warm, welcoming and generous. She was lovely enough to even give us some delicious baklava on the house. Certainly a highlight of our trip to Edinburgh! Be sure to add it to your list.
N. M.
A definite must for visitors to Edinburgh or indeed people who live here. Great food, great hospitality. We were made to feel at home. We will certainly return. Try the saffron latte- just delicious!
R.
This place is a GEM. Moved to the Tollcross area recently and am so thankful this is just around the corner. The food is as good as my mom’s but Persian instead of Pakistani, it is incredibly delicious and filling yet healthy. The woman who runs the place is so friendly, kind, and personable and I look forward to seeing her every time. The decor is beautiful, the lattes and teas are impeccable. I can’t recommend this place enough.
C. X.
Amazing, hearty food from a well thought through menu and the loveliest people. The saffron latte is the best and make sure you ask the owner of her recommendations.
W. A.
Amazing owner and staff, delicious homemade Iranian/Persian food, lots of different options for vegetarians and vegans, and in general a cafe that people should not miss out on. I go almost everytime I visit Edinburgh. Highly recommended.
R. k.
Such a cosy, characteristic, warm and memorable place to have a homemade authentic Persian cuisine. It's a great cafe with a variety of food and drinks options all of which are made with passion and love ❤️
C. P. A.
This is a wonderful little café, serving casual Persian dishes. The "French Kiss" challah French toast is so good, I've yet to try anything else on the menu. There are plenty of vegan and vegan options. Lots of lovely looking cakes and a wide range of lovely teas. The owner is very welcoming. And the café has a lovely relaxing atmosphere.
C. A.
My partner and I just moved to Edinburgh and luckily Konj was one of the first places we visited. We have already returned 5 times in the past two weeks because it's so lovely in every way. The food, the service, the coziness - everything is absolutely lovely. The sweet omelette and the saffron latte are two of my new favorite treats and I can't wait to work my way through the entire menu :)
j.
The best cafe in Edinburgh! Good prices, delicious, homemade food and drinks. The orange and lime iced tea and London fog in particular are standout, can't wait to try more! The owner is the best!!
T. C.
COZY CAFE WITH A BEAUTIFUL SELECTION
This was a lovely cafe with a great selection of pastries. The barista was so friendly as well and made sure we were taken care of.
My flat white was perfect. There were a lot of drinks on offer that I will definitely go back to try.
I also got a saffron and rose cake which was light and tasty. Would definitely have it again. Again there was so much to choose from that I'll definitely come back to this place.
M.
The food is full of flavor and the coffee is so smooth. There’s a range of gluten-free and vegetarian options along with meat options for food and a bunch of non-dairy milks for coffee. So it’s a perfect place for me to recommend to my friend with allergies and diet restrictions. Also, the staff are so, so nice! They’re very attentive, and I’ve had wonderful conversations with both Fara and Alex. Definitely recommend this place. 🥰🥰🥰
H. S.
If you want something fresh and healthy try here out. Great Persian and Scottish food, all made fresh. Amazing selection of teas blended personally by the owner. Well worth checking out :)
A. S. C. R.
We were looking for a place for breakfast and found the menu of this little cafe very different and interesting, we were not disappointed ! It deserves the 5 stars, not so common for a café ! The staff is lovely, we had some cakes on the house as new customers, I definitely recommend !
A. B.
Hands down one of the best food places i have been in Edinburgh so far. It truly is a hidden gem. Thank you for making amazing food for us.
L. B.
Lovely friendly staff, a few nice outdoor seats and great iced latte, but, the halloumi wrap was quite tasteless and the walnut & cinnamon sweet bread very dry and heavy - not the best I'm afraid
C. C.
The most delightful cafe. Delicious homemade Parisian sweet treats with excellent customer service. We will definitely be telling friends about this little gem and returning soon!
G. C.
I had a falafel & halloumi wrap and a baklava and I can honestly say that they were the best I've ever had in both cases. The wrap was freshly prepared, with the delicious ingredients well dispersed and neither too dry or wet. The baklava was very fragrant, with an organic depth to the sweetness unlike some baklavas which tend to taste a bit artificial. Forgot to take a photo of the baklava because I was enjoying it so much. Didn't have a hot drink but from the looks of things in the shop I imagine they would be prepared with a similar level of quality and care.
A. M.
Super friendly and the most wonderful homemade cakes. The chili hot chocolate was delicious.
M. B.
I discovered this place about a month ago and have been back with several different people about 4 times. Everything I’ve had is delicious and homemade. I cannot recommend the saffron cardamom crepe, mezze platter, and Mirza Ghasem (smoky aubergine in a tomato sauce) enough! On top of that, the service has always been top notch, this little gem is run by the friendliest folks :)
E. S.
Fantastic wee place- delicious food and drinks every time! Definitely try the Persian love cake!
w. k.
Absolutely amazing! All the food is so good and they even have London fogs for American/Canadian friends.
g. m.
The food is fantastic, so is the atmosphere. And the staff are one of the friendliest i have ever meet. Thank you for the great experience!
F.
The food is delightful and all fresh and home made, the service is wonderful and the staff are passionate about the work they do. One of the best cafes I've been to easily.
V. H.
This is a very special cafe and probably the friendliest in town. Farah and Alex are totally lovely. The food is great, my favourite is a halloumi wrap, and its just such cute little place. Love going there.
j. k.
Konj is a fantastic small cafe. The owner is wonderful, she is passionate about what she dose and treats everyone who walks through the door as a friend. The food is amazing from the freshly baked goods on the counter to the main meals on the menu. Everything feels and is home cooked and to top it all of its well priced for a small independent business.
The hot drinks are well cooked and never burnt so are full of flavour and the speciality teas, although I don't drink tea, smell amazing. This is one place I highly recommend whether you want a tea or coffee, to a quick bite or a larger meal, I don't think there is anywhere better than here. I know this is my first choice cafe in Edinburgh.
S. E.
I love the iced coffee at konj cafe.
Looking forward to trying the breakfast soon :)
h. z.
Lovely place, great customer service, and I highly recommend Saffron Latte which is so special.

H. m.
The best cafe in Edinburgh. What a sweet cosy wee cafe. Loved the owner More than anything else.
D. J.
A small café, run by lovely women! Had very good Persian coconut cookies and the baklava looked amazing! Flat white was a little too milky but when served by such lovely people, who create such nice atmosphere, you don't mind it so much!! I've also picked up a box of Persian Sohan for my Iranian friend and he loved it!! We will definitely be back!
I. R.
Really nice little cafe. Everything I’ve tried so far has been incredible. The Persian black tea, Persian dessert latte, and Persian love cakes are favourites so far, though I look forward to working my way through most of the menu. The owner is lovely too, very warm and friendly.
R. M.
I came in today with my parents and we shared three delicious main dishes, and finished with tea and cakes. Everything was perfect! The owner is so friendly and charming too, she really made us feel so welcome and we had a great chat. Highly recommend paying a visit to Konj Cafe.i will definitely be back to try out more things from the menu.
A. J.
Easily my favourite place to eat in Edinburgh. Farah combines a relaxed, 'at home' vibe with seriously excellent Persian food. All fresh and prepared with love.
A great place to also go for coffee, tea, snacks, or even brunch and lunch. My particular favourite is the Nargesi (both healthy and delicious!).
If you are thinking of where to go - don't hesitate to go to Konj cafe! You will really enjoy it!
M. T.
Wonderfully authentic Persian food and baked good. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxing. Both the owner and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend anyone to visit here if you want to enjoy the comforts of Persian cuisine in a cafe setting. I know I'll be back soon 🙂
G. C.
What a gem of a find this place was. Really friendly and more importantly, enthusiastic owner who is passionate about Persian food. Quality of food was excellent with good choices available. Great range of tea in fusions to go alongvwith the brilliant choice of both Persian and British home baking(recommend the Persian love cake). Will definitely be back again soon.
N. C.
I had the most incredible brunch at Konj Cafe with a lovely Midnight in Paris Persian Tea! I'll be back soon.

C. F.
The most perfect cafe with wonderful meals made from scratch, all with fresh ingredients and made with love! I'll be coming back often.
V. P.
I cannot speak highly enough of Konj Café. The first time I went to Konj was simply because it was so close to my flat; however, I keep coming back because of the delicious coffee and the amazing owner. Farrah is one of the kindest souls and constantly makes her customers feel like friends and family. She is always a delight to chat to and it only adds to the charm of her cute shop. Her food is just as good as her coffee, and I recommend people grab a treat along with their coffee. The prices are really fair as well. All in all, Konj is my favorite coffee place in Edinburgh.
M. L.
Best cafe in Edinburgh! Great chai, great persian food, and great people.
M. R.
The saffron latte is 10/10! The food was great too

What a great little place! Everything is beautiful, and the food is fabulous. We each had a different Persian brunch item, all were excellent. Many great options for vegetarians. And then we took two cakes to go and -- wow! If you'e in the neighborhood -- don't miss it!
M. F.
Step here for morning coffee, so impressive! Very nice lady who made all sweets herself( amazing stuffed dates). I had latte and my son enjoyed Persian herbal tea. Tiny warm place with its own climate
R. K.
I ordered some ghorme sabzi with saffron rice to treat ourselves, the portions were a very good size, we had some leftovers that cuddled us the next day as well! The best persian food in Edinburgh, it came with tender meat and limoo amani! definitely recommended.
A.
The place is really cozy and cute. The food an coffee were delicious, it was all freshly made. The lady working there is really friendly. I will sure come back next time I'm in Edinburgh!

E. B.
An absolutely amazing shop with delicious snacks and hot drinks! So authentically Persian and something everyone could enjoy. The owner is so talented and kind. A real treat!

Found this little gem on a gloomy afternoon. It was a perfect find at the right time. Wonderfully kind and delicious coffee. Also an amazing choice of teas, but most special of all are the baked goods. Their saffron and pistachio cake is an experience not to be missed!
S. H. M.
First time visiting Edinburgh and we came across this gem of a place! We had the morning energy bowl followed by the most delicious tea. It was so good we came back 2 days in a row. Newly opened tea shop with a cozy and relaxed ambiance. The owner is lovely and very welcoming - who also recommend a loose tea for myself and I must say it was spot on! The red Velvet cupcakes are to die for and over all this wee shop a great addition to the city. I look forward to coming back in the future.
A. P.

this cafe is a treasure to find in Edinburgh. Its small, quaint but full of wonderful smells, homecooked and fresh persian food that you didnt even know existed. The lady who runs the shop is friendly, attentive, hardworking and always smiling. I would urge everybody to take a trip to this cafe and experience some gorgeous persian cooking or cakes for themselves!
S. G.
Beautiful tea recipes, both of the ones we got were fantastic and unique flavours. Both cakes were also fantastic, especially the persian love cake. All homemade as well! Definitely reccomended!
G. W.
I thought the clean 5 star rating must be an exaggeration. And here I am, adding my 5 stars!
Delicious food, very cute space, lovely staff, and did mention the delicious food?
W. C.
A pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Gorgeous Persian teas and coffees and even more gorgeous food. The owner is very welcoming and a talented cook.
Small but perfect!
S. H.
We visited this lovely caffe this afternoon because we had to kill time until dinner. We couldn't possibly have found a nicer caffe than Konj Caffe. Not only did we enjoy the best chat with an extremely nice and friendly owner, but there were also vegan options available and our drinks were just delicious! We had a delicious herbal tea and a turmeric latte, which was made with oat milk! Also worth mentioning is the lovely decoration of the caffe and it's very clean too! We would go back any time!
J. T.
Hidden gem in Edinburgh that's just opened. Catering to a variety of dietary requirements (dairy free soups and gluten free baked goods!). Friendly and warm atmosphere where everything is made in store with a generous dollap of love. A solid recommendation and a new favourite!
S. R.
This cafe is so lovely in the following ways: cleanliness, staff, choice, homemade food, qty of food, atmosphere and general all round experience. It has just opened but I'll be back over and over. Try it for a carry out or sit it. You won't be disappointed.
C. S.
Lovely food and excellent tea, the owner is friendly and happy to explain anything on offer. The only sad thing is the cafe is so small, getting a seat could become difficult. I can't recommend Konj Cafe highly enough, well deserving of five stars.
P. S.
