Reviews of Lovecrumbs West Port

Super friendly service, great tasting coffee (flat white & espresso) and had a fantastic grilled cheese. Highly recommend!
う. N.
Free wifi, you can work with your laptop :) and dog friendly. Cozy and nice staff.
E. Z.
Scones with seed & Flat White. Simply delicious and hearty. Cute place and the staf was always smiling. Made my day!
S. S.
Delicious chocolate cake! The place has a nice and chill vibe.
C. B.
Great coffee, but never EVER come when you’re in a hurry. Even without a queue I’ve waited 20 minutes for a takeaway. Love the vibes here and if you’re sitting down it’s a lovely chill atmosphere. Watch the doors though, they’re tough and heavy and can swing right back at you as you leave, and have twice now knocked a coffee in my hand right over my front. Coffee = 100/10. Service = 3/10. Doors = 0/10.

Lovely hot drinks (festive chili hot chocolate is great), super friendly staff, great atmosphere. amazing vegan grilled cheese toastie. Always bring friends who are visiting Edinburgh to this cafe.
P. C.
Scrumptious cakes, delicious teas, lovely decor and great vibes. Lovecrumbs is just the perfect place to spend a cold autumn afternoon with a cup of hot cocoa and something to eat whilst catching up with friends. Make sure you try their sausage rolls (they are so so good).
The only con, if there was any, is that it can get busy and be difficult to get a table. If they would allow for bookings that would help with queues and waiting time.
P. K.
If I was a local, this would be my local coffee place 😭 There are plenty of vegan options, lovely staff, and just an all-around cosy space; it that lends itself as well to quiet reading as it does to seeing dear friends. Over the course of a short stay, I went back a few times because the coffee and service were superb!
M. M.
Awesome place. The food tastes great, staff is super friendly, kind and helping, the decoration is beautiful with a lot of cute plants.
Love that café!!
R. B.
Lovely cakes, always different flavours and good big slices given!

Discovering Lovecrumbs will make you very happy and once inside, there is so much original building character....check out that ceiling.
Then your eyes light up with the range of cakes on display.
So honestly, how do you choose? I opted for the rose and pistachio loaf. It was so flavoursome and the texture was just perfect. Defo restrained myself from ordering a second portion.
Quirky place with space to relax and people centred staff who are willing to spend time actually engaging with you.
Look out for the window seat, in high demand.....in fact, any seat will do.
Simply amazing.

I love Love Crumbs. Best people, lovely options, just incredible place to have a slow, charming start to the day. Thanks to all of you 🤩 (also the dirty chai was p e r f e c t)

We had breakfast here and really enjoyed it!
The peanut butter and jelly toasts were huge! I should have added less peanut butter but were pretty good though. The sourdough bread is really fresh and tasty.
The stablishment is beautiful and the staff really kind.
There are many cake options and a wide coffe and tea menu.

Holy guacamole- This spot is excellent.
Nice atmosphere, spacious seating. The staff is friendly and quick.
Lots of choices for sweets and some really nice savoury options.
I had the smashed garlic chilli peas & toasted seeds on toast. Nice treat after walking around and only having sweets.
Also the ices latter which was nice and not too sweet! All in all good quick service with delicious food.
B. _.
Rather nice place.
Kind of hipster atmosphere with vintage furniture and decoration.
The sweet food and beverages are fine : I had a really tasty lemon-pistachio cake, not dry and not too sweet (as those cake often are). The tea is also rather good, so is the coffee. Really bad point for the sandwiches which are way too salty and greasy (almost nauseating) and expensive for the quantity/quality.
One of the main problem to me is that the place is really small and kind of overcrowded. A lot of people staying here to work on their laptops leaving no room for those who actually want to eat/drink something.
Funny point : I liked eating on a piano, that was an unexpected experience
F. B.
Nice place with a good selection of cakes. The coffee is good but nothing special. The place is small and over crowded.
They are really BAD with orders. For my birthday I requested a cake there and paid a lot of money for it. Unfortunately, on my birthday the cake was not there. They made a mistake and they didn't even bake it. I had to pay for one of the cake available in the café. I was so disappointed and they even wanted me to pay the full price for the wrong cake.
M. M.
Hipster and quirky are definitely too good adjectives to describe this place. I don't normally consider "hipster" a compliment, but in this case it does make for a very cozy and pleasing aesthetic. The place has a neon writing on the wall, a piano, loads of plants. They bake sourdough bread. Plus, most importantly, the coffee is pretty good. They have lots of cakes from which to choose, too, with many vegan choices. I got a vegan wlanuts, orange and cream one, which was really good. Normally, I find the icing on the cakes in the UK too sweat, just too much, but this was pretty ok. Finally, they also have interesting tea choices (cinnamon rooibos comes to mind) and I'm definitely coming back for the hot chocolate - the rose and cardamom one sounds amazing. I would definitely recommend!
R. B.
Lovecrumbs, how I love thee! One of my main coffee joints while studying on exchange in Edinburgh :) if the vast quantity of cake isn’t enough to draw you in, the cozy atmosphere and excellent service will! They also give you a thermos of hot water with your tea which, as a tea granny, I greatly appreciated. Bring a friend (or two!) and try a couple different slices. 5/5!

I've never written a review before but had to in some public way express how lovely my experience here was. It was my first day in Edinburgh and the two lovely women working there made me feel so at home with their conversation, tips and kind gestures. Though the hot chocolate was nothing short of perfect on such a wintry afternoon, somehow, it was them who brought me more warmth. Thank you, you beautiful people 🥰💌
N. H.
Lovely staff and a great Chai. Really chill place with a good atmosphere for studying (it does get quite busy so they do ask you don't stay over an hour, but that's understandable).
T. M. P.
This place has a nice atmosphere, very cosy and people normally share tables with "strangers" since there is not much space. They are serving lunch now, but it was a bit disappointing, specially for the price paid. More staff needed, definitely, as well as more space and comfort for their working area. Apparently cake is their speciality and the one I had was lovely. Mocha was also very tasty! They also have lovely old windows at the back where you can sit by, but they should take better care of their garden, so the view would be pleasant. Overall I would recommend for a afternoon coffee with a slice of cake!
C. T.
Lovely choice of vegan bakes and sweet treats! And a delicious cup of tea. Really warm and friendly atmosphere. It was so nice we ate everything before we took a picture!
C. S.
Amazing vegan cinnamon buns. Super fluffy and delicious! Im not vegan and these standup against non vegan buns for sure.
C. C.
Lovecrumbs has a very grunge hipster vibe to it, and I love the interior! The service was prompt and friendly. Ordered a lemon cake with lemon curd and earl grey tea, which cost about £6+. The cake was just the right amount of tartness and sweetness, and the tea was very good as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would absolutely recommend this place to a friend (in fact, I already have).
R. T.
I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Had an orange chili and clove hot chocolate and a lavender chocolate cake slice. Both to completely die for. I could easy sit there and have pints of their hot chocolate. Unbelievable. Can’t recommend this place enough. The vibe inside is amazing. Great amount of greenery and cool neon. Kudos to the owners of this place. Well done. Will be back!
C. W.
Really cute place with nice cakes and bits.
Recommend the chai latte and the lemon and rosemary cake
A. M.
Popped in here for a spot of brunch on a recent trip to Edinburgh with a pal. The interior was amazing and was right up my alley, 10/10 in regards to the design and layout of the place. Food was nice- I got the ham and cheese toastie and whilst it was a bit heavy on the mustard, it was still nice. The price point was what would be expected for a hipster type spot in Edinburgh, but we didn’t mind seeing that the food was of good quality. However, the staff seemed quite hostile towards us, as they didn’t even say hello to us whilst taking our orders/communicate when serving us, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Overall, the experience as a whole was alright, probably would only recommend the spot to a die hard coffee lover who has an active interest in similar brunch spots.
C. V. O.
I loved visiting Lovecrumbs and really enjoyed their orange & chili hot chocolate. A very aesthetically pleasing, cosy place with friendly staff and some great vegan options 🌱
J. C.
One of my favorite cafés in Edinburgh. Not only that the coffee is good, but the cakes are amazing too and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. On top of that, the room itself is relaxing and really nice. Plants 🪴 everywhere, mini shop at the till with indie items (cups, chocolate etc..) for sale.
There are a few seats facing the window which offers a lovely experience
A. A.
Cozy place to have breakfast or brunch, really nice stuff and cakes are awesome. Also try the banana bread with pistachio and cream fraiche 😺so delicious. Hot chocolate is also good
J. L.
Great birthday cake.
Took a bit of a punt and ordered by email a Birthday cake for a birthday trip to Edinburgh.
Ordered a 10inch vanilla and raspberry cake, with a 'Happy 60th Birthday Mum' message on it.
Cake was very tasty, was ready on time and was certainly up to the standard I had expected.
Only popped in to pick it up and did not actually sit in or use the cafe as such.
Although overall I was impressed, it was not cheap at 67 pounds (I did not shop around) and when I came to collect, the girl serving was unaware of what price I was to actually pay, needed me to tell her, sadly I was too honest!
Also point to note is that on your card statement, its not obvious what the payment is. Does not say Lovecrumbs. The description was a bit spurious, perhaps though lack of attention/explanation when entering the details through their iZettle payment terminal.
K. P.
This is a lovely place to grab a coffee and a cake.
I had an americano and the seeded coffee cake and I was far from disappointed. The only upsetting part of my time here was finding I had eaten all of my cake without noticing.
It’s a great ambiance and friendly staff. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend venturing to Lovecrumbs for a break.
J. C. V.
Cute concept, cozy place. There’s well-cared-for plants everywhere and none of the chairs/tables match, it creates a very nice atmosphere. Even the old looking ceiling is pretty.
I just wish the coffee wasn’t so burnt and sad. The wifi is also unusably bad.
G. L.
One of my favorite laid back breakfast places for the fringe. Colorful guests, friendly staff load of choice for the cakes. Good coffee slightly off Grassmarket, this avoiding the worst tourist crowds. try one of the cakes, you will not regret it.
C. L.
Nice space with lots of seating. Got a piece of cake, flavor was really good but texture was a little dry. Visited later in the day so it's possible the cake was just out for a while.
V. W.
Great coffee and lovely atmosphere. Saw a lot of people bringing their own cup so they seem to be very environmentally minded. There's also a store with it that sells aprons, cups and foodie magazines. All and all a great place for a millennial audience.
L. S.
I was here for my breakfast coffe and some toast. I really liked the atmosphere here. At this time of day it wasn't really crowded. The coffe and the toasts were very good. I would recommend this place to drink a good coffe and eat some cake or toast.
Μ. S.
Really good coffee. One of the best in Edinburgh!
I also tried some cookies! It wasn't my cup of tea but was fresh!
I definitely recommend it!
Ľ. K.
Lovecrumbs is by far one of my favourite places to get great quality coffee and cakes near the old town. Their vegan chocolate and rose cake is one of the best cakes I have ever eaten, so shout-out to Nice Times Bakery for supplying them. The staff are always very attentive. They usually get super busy during the lunch time, so if you are planning on grabbing the seat on the window that everyone is after, I recommend visiting early in the morning.
M. T.
Great coffee and cakes but the interior of the cafe is very old and the plaxe gets very busy!
J. B.
The atmosphere is nice and the coffee is good, but skip the cakes.. They are unpalatable as sweet as they are🥴
A.
Love this place!! My friends and I go all the time and I always bring visiting friends here! The vibe is very fun and cozy and cute. It's great for chatting with friends or even getting work done (they have wifi!). Their cakes are always creative and delicious, and we haven't had a bad one yet! (Plus their savory dishes are also good and would definitely recommend the violet tea--very interesting and perfum-y!)
A. I.
Such a wonderful spot. The baristas are so kind, and this space feels safe. GREAT CAKE, lots of vegan options. There is WiFi, and laptops are allowed but not on weekends (quick turnover, I presume). Highly recommend.
H. S.
Excellent Cinnamon rolls and sandwich. Coffee was not up to my expectations!
D. H.
Hipster central. Great cakes, good coffee. Sat at a piano & drank handmade lemonade from a jar. Flat White, lemonade & a slice of cake £9.10.
M. P.
Lived up to the hype! Excellent cakes and great tea selection. Lovely atmosphere.
N. D.
Great interior design, weird pink thing going on but plants, furniture etcetera are lovely. Weirdly confrontational owner. Coffee beans better than the brewing, but acceptable. Friendly staff. Can't give more than 3 stars due to the owners behaviour. Such a shame, lovely place overall.
J.
Hipster third generation coffee shop. One of my go to places when I’m in Edinburgh. Chilled vibe, good coffee and great selection of cakes ;)
M. O.
Nice coffee shop with a wide selection of cakes and hot drinks. Friendly staff and friendly atmosphere. They even provide extra hot water for your tea
Á. T. G.
Great coffee, tasty cakes and friendly stuff.
K. B.
Friendly staff plus tasty food!
M. R.
Was in Edinburgh for four days and went back here twice. That should say enough about what this cafe is like.
The coffee is really nice and served with a smile. The decor is really quaint which both myself and my wife appreciated. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
However the best thing about the cafe is the baked goods. I'm not sure if it changes every day but whatever they have on, it all looked delicious and what we had was lovely. Any time we are in Edinburgh this will be a must.
C.
I have had the pleasure to visit the store on my last trip in Scotland, and I absolutely love the cakes there!! I still can`t stop thinking about the cakes now, and trying to think of any possible way to get my hands on them.
I do not have a particularly sweet tooth, but love to explore awesome desserts. The cakes are moist, and well balanced with the right amount of flavor and icing! I have had the pleasure to try their Violet pink grape cake and the Lavender blue berry cake, these are just some of their amazing flavor that they offer in their shop. They offer different flavors depends on the days!
Their store decor is fun and homey, you could find many vintage pieces here, every corner of the store seems to have pieces with stories to tell. The cabinet that is used for displaying their dessert is a great touch!!
Coffee and tea are delightful. You could not ask for more when you take in the complete experience that this place has to offer. Go in and savour the moment. The experience would be a beautiful story to remember and to tell.
C. G.
Nice cafe with a relaxed atmosphere. Worth the walk across town to find this place. The hot chocolate was lovely
S. B.
The coffee is just like Melbourne, lovely staff and a friendly alternative vibe! 😄👌 I would recommend the black coffee or try out the oat milk!
C. I.
There are always too many delicious cakes to choose from and you really can’t go wrong. They’re particularly good with floral flavours, which can often be overpowering/soapy, but are delicate and subtle in Lovecrumbs’ cakes (rose and pistachio is the best of these, I think). Also nice coffees and teas. I do wish there were more tables, as I’ve often had to leave without buying anything, but it’s a great place to meet up with friends if you go at the right time.
E. H.
Great spot. The mains are limited bug really good. However the cakes are the real star of the show here! Really delicious!
M. M.
Tea and cake- 2 great things!!
Great place with a delicious selection of cakes and brownies. I particularly enjoyed the raspberry and white chocolate cake and they do a cracking salted caramel tart!
Tea is served in mix and match cups and saucers and comes with a flask, so you can top up your tea as you like. Staff were very friendly and smiley.
Have been back to this place many times and will definitely be back again soon!
S. W.
Lovecrumbs is a great little place for tea, cake and to people watch. Today I went for the festive roasted chestnut tea and lavender and white chocolate tart. The tart was delicious but it was a large slice and quite heavy so I couldn't finish it. However the tea was lovely, and not a combination that I would expect. Another nice touch is the fact they supply you with a flask of hot water to top up your tea with.
As soon as I walked in, the staff greeted me. They all seemed really friendly and helpful (running over to hold open the door for a lady with a buggy).
The decor is a hipster mix match of chairs, tables, cushions and even the tea cups and plates are all individual.
My only suggestion would be to avoid 1-3pm if you're looking for some quiet time, as because Lovecrumbs is so popular, it does get pretty busy at this time.
K. P.
If you ever happen to be in the City of Edinburgh and you are frustrated by the fact that The Elephant House (the coffee shop, where J.K. Rowling wrote first Harry Potter books) is overcrowded, you must visit Lovecrumbs cake & coffee shop. Yup, that’s how I got to know this place! It is located only 5 minutes from the main Princess street and it is certainly one of the most charming coffee joints around. It is also very famous among the locals for its flavoursome cakes, that are already dazzling when looking inside from the street.
As you walk in, you may first say to yourself that it feels like “hipster” kind of a coffeehouse. Nonetheless, there is no such thing as a generation gap in this place. Everyone sense a heart welcome by smiling staff, who are always willing to empower you with their precious energy.
What sets them apart from other cafés is precisely that they seem to be environmentally minded. They offer various vegetarian/vegan meals or put metal or biodegradable straw into the beverages. Furthermore, a lot of people have been seen bringing their own cups, in the case of great rush.
Whilst the first sip of coffee, you initially start to uncover the vibe of quirky little details and old fashioned furniture. In between wide english windows stands a neon light that says “Nice moments” (it represents the spirit of this place) and old piano, which unexpectedly serves as a regular table. Oh, and if you had to spend a penny, you would surely never ever forget about the royal coloured lavaratory!
There is something entirely special about this place, that I have never encountered before, so next time you are around, treat yourself for a moment!
A. B.
Lovely cafe with a quirky style and very friendly staff. Great to pop in for a cup and tea, some cake and a chat!
Large selection of homemade very tasty cakes, and I love the fact that when you order some tea you get a flask of hot water with it so you can top it up!
All in all a great cafe with a lovely atmosphere, definitely worth a visit!
S. M.
Delicious, adventurous cakes and a really interesting selection of teas/coffees/hot chocolate. Probably the best Earl Grey I've ever had.Selecting your cake from their "cake wardrobe" makes visiting a joy. I can highly recommend their chocolate/caramel brownies and their white chocolate and raspberry cake. The last time I went at the weekend it was very busy - so do expect to make friends and share a table.
R. M. M.
Absolutely brilliant cakes in hip, stripped-back setting. Good coffee and a range of rather odd teas and sodas. Large tables encourage sharing with the friendly, varied customers.
The range of cakes changes every day with the selections displayed on a slate, and the items themselves displayed in an original manner within what was once a wardrobe! Equally original is the table that is made from a converted piano.
One of the star products is the cream cheese brownie, which is the best brownie I have ever tasted. Quite fantastic.
D. D.
Good food with high number of vege/vegan options. Toastie and soup combination isn't excessive. Slightly shabby in a boho, loved way. Leave space for coffee and cake!
G. W.
Great quirky wee cafe with excellent cakes, great coffee, plus an array of small gift items. They also stock amazing sourdough bread which they make into toasties and sarnies on site, but you can also buy loaves of to take home with you.
P. D.
Great coffee, good ambience and trendy decor. Cake was nice but disappointing, a tiny bit dry and not much flavour in my opinion - I had the strawberry cardamom. I'll come back again but maybe go for a brownie as they looked good.
A. T.
After 3 hours at the Degree Show today we needed cake and coffee. Luckily Lovecrumbs is close to the Art College and we headed there. This was my first time in this cake heaven and after reading lots of reviews and following them on all sorts of social media I was looking to be impressed.... and I was. They have a wardrobe filled with cake, not quite Narnia but near enough. Such wonderful combinations of aromatic herbs, nuts and floral scents enrich the cake experience. My favourite coffee, a flat white, was so good I had two. I do like the decor too, understated but with little quirky touches. The piano used as a table with the beautiful duet stool is just too cute! Overall a relaxing experience with some of my favourite things - one of my daughters, coffee, cake, cacti and 'Oh Comely'.
D. M.
Quirky cafe selling great selection of teas and coffees and amazingly good cakes and other sweet treats.
You can sit in the window of the cafe as there is a couple of sitting areas which makes for a slightly different experience but is quite cool, if a little uncomfortable.
Quite pricey for what's on offer but great service and really good atmosphere in the place.
K. M.
Love the vegan cakes with interesting flavours and the quirky atmosphere! But no electronic devices allowed on week ends to maintain a relaxed atmosphere...
T. W.
Aside from being super-popular, this place is unimprovable! Amazing coffee, incredible hot chocolate, super-friendly staff and a DRESSER FULL OF CAKES. The cakes and tarts change every day, and they're all amazing in their own way. Coffees are small and strong, and the decor is relaxed, chic and inviting. It seems to be really busy, but always worth waiting for a seat.
If you're able to get a seat, it's the perfect place to bring friends. They'll thank you!
J. C.
Absultely stunning pastries and coffee in a cheery, eclectic setting.
C. W.
A cosy café that's good for a quick bite and a chat. I particularly enjoyed their sink.
K. a. H.
Lovecrumbs is a lovely place to sit and drink a coffee and have a slice of cake from their quirky cabinet. It's always fun to choose the cake you want (there are so many!!) and there are options for different types of milk etc. There are a few bigger tables for groups and the cutlery/crockery is mismatched and pretty. Always like spending a coffee break in here :)
L. A.
Wonderful service and the staff are very kind. Cake was splendid also they do my fav Bakewell Tart, crisp base and great jam. If I could I would rate them higher!
My tea came with plenty of leaves an a thermos of hot water to top it up and re-use the teabag, neat idea. Makes my tea great value for money, and tasted just as good from first to last sip.
P. Z.
Nice atmosphere cozy and casual, didn’t appreciate the coffee, very nice vegans chocolate cakes
J. K.
Went here as part of a Google City Experts competition prize. Lovely little place, lots of different teas to try, nice coffee, and a range of delicious cakes.
The staff are really friendly and always make sure you have a cup of something hot and a slice of cake in your hand.
The moderately sized cafe is uniquely decorated with mismatched furniture and quirky trinkets, and even has a piano.
C. S.
I love a good independent cafe, especially if it's quirky and has an unusual hook. In this case, the hook is the cakes - providers of wholesale for some time the stock in the shop is excellent and gets people rather excited. The coffee is excellent, served in a series of mismatched old cups, which complement the hodgepodge of furniture perfectly.
If you aren't a cake lover, or have any sort of unusual diet - gluten free, vegan, etc. - then this may not be the place for you; due to their manufacturing methods they don't feel comfortable trying to cater to all dietary needs. Coupled with the very small size of cups and the venue's tendency to get rather steamed up, this has never become a regular haunt for me, but I know many who will choose it over most alternatives.
R. C.
It's a cute looking cafe with good coffee and a large selection of tempting cakes. However I always find the cakes look great but are a big disappointment - I find them to be really dense, oily and sick inducing. The scones by contrast are dry and crumbly. Staff are unfriendly.
C. M.
I love this place. The cakes are delicious, the coffee is good and the staff are so friendly. The rose and cardamon hot chocolate is one of the best drinks I've ever tasted. It's also a great relaxed place to hang out with friends!
N. B.
Very nice Nd cozy place for coffee and a small bite. I liked the music as well as the extra hot water they provide with the tea.
J. B.
I've been in Edinburgh for the weekend and been back here twice because it's so good. The tea comes with tons of hot water, and it's delicious. The staff have been lovely, even with me asking about gluten free options for their outstanding cakes. If I lived closer, I'd be here every day, and when I come back to Edinburgh I can guarantee I'll be back here again.
C. P.
Come this way and I will show you a wardrobe filled with cake. Not a cabinet or a shelf, a wardrobe, and it contains some of the most delicious cake you will ever taste. And who are the wonderful people behind such a fantastic idea? Lovecrumbs, a beautiful shop that serves tea, coffee and all manner of sweet treats.
Go to Lovecrumbs with your best decision-making head on – you’ll need it. From layer cakes to tray bakes, scones and gluten-free options, the things they have on offer will make your head spin. I’m a chocolate fiend, so whenever I go, I get something chocolaty and I am always left wanting another slice.
The tea and coffee is also really good. There are numerous options for herbal tea lovers and those needing a bit more caffeine in their lives, Lovecrumbs knows how to make a mean coffee. Throw in awesome surroundings and great staff and you’ve got everything you could ever want from a cake and coffee house in Lovecrumbs.
O. L.
I have lived in Edinburgh for many years and been here for coffee (which is excellent) — However I had never tried the cake until now. Hands down the best carrot cake I have ever tasted! 💪
A. G.
My absolute favourite place in Edinburgh for coffee. Guess what? They actually do vegan cakes!!! Please keep it up Love Crumbs!!!!! I went to a Wreath Making class at it last Autumn and it was fabulous! It would be good if they did more evening events like this as its such a beautiful relaxed place. My only quam is that lots of people have cottoned on to how good it is so its always heaving at the weekend! The coffee they serve is also excellent. The staff are always lovely too! I can't say enough good things about Love Crumbs!!! I love you Love Crumbs!!
L. G.
Great little haven next to the pubic triangle, with cake, cake and cake. Can get busy so would pick your time well, but you can always get your goodies to go. Staff always lovely and a wide selection of treats available. Plus you can place an order for a whole cake for a special celebration. Very chilled vibe and never feel like they're trying to move you on.
J. M.
The place was nice but the waiter didn’t offer sugar (not even a spoon). It was very beautiful place and perfect for taking pics!
I. J.
Had a really lovely coffee and cake here today. Tables were well spaced, and service quick! Would recommend.
G. M.
Who could fail to love a cafe with a wardrobe full of delicious treats to sample? The melt in the mouth lemon sponge with rosemary syrup and the decadently rich chocolate tart are both firm favourites. With mismatched furniture and mix & match crockery, Lovecrumbs is a great place to spend a few hours relaxing over a cup of tea and having a chat with friends...you may have to wait for a seat though as it's usually very busy.
S. D.
Lovely Lovecrumbs! Relaxing, airy, beautiful cafe with some of the best baked goods in the city - no surprise, given that they're home to Edinburgh's Lady Bakers! Tea comes in a dignified vintage cup with saucer, and they have unusual soft drinks like raspberry lemonade. I guess the place might be a little twee for some but the industrial decoration - shabby, comfy sofas, crates for tables - keeps it from being too much for me. Love!
C. W.
Fab coffee shop with great vegan options!
A. B. M.
Very cute café with great tea!

This café is amazing. The coffee, from Artisan Roast, is excellent, and the cakes are delicious, if a touch pricey. The only real downside to this place is that it's popular, so finding a seat can often be a challenge.
E. H.
One of my favourite places in Edinburgh. Amazing cakes, always fresh and to-die-for, and great coffee and hot chocolate.
The staff were always nice and the place itself is so cozy and warm to just sit inside by the window.
S. M.
Nice place with yummy cakes!! Had the banana/pecan and rose/strawberry both yummy!
I. M.
Imagine your granny baked the most delicious cakes and you were always visiting with your auntie. The cake display is an old dresser which gives you ample opportunity to ogle over the delights. The drinks are served in old china cups, or old retro crockery. If quirky's your thing then a visit to Lovecrumbs is a must.
They have a few constants, but I have had something different every time I visit. The flavour combinations are sublime as you wash it down with an Artisan Roast coffee.
Very mixed crowd, but it's nice to know everyone there loves cake!
H. N.
This is where you come if you just want cake and coffee. Plenty of space, but it is often very busy. Their salted caramel brownies are worth trying, but some of the larger cakes are often dry.
P. T.
I went here for the first time on a Sunday as it's open an hour after other cafes close. It has a good atmosphere and was still busy at that time. I got some coffee and cake both of which were nice. As the name suggests they have a good range of cakes, all of which look very tasty so I'll be back a few times to try some more.
S. B.
West Port is the last place I'd expect to find the best cake in Edinburgh, but there, nestled into the Pubic Triangle (without a doubt the most worrying sentence I have ever written!) sits Lovecrumbs. Usually I get annoyed at cafes with mismatched furniture and "distressed" decor - I don't want to sit in the cold on a wobbly chair just so your publicity photos look good! - it is actually both warm and comfortable. And even if it wasn't, I'd forgive it for the cake. Cakes that look good are often disappointing to taste, but not here - assuming you can choose which cake to buy in the first place, the moist, strong flavours, generous fillings will wow you. The slices are a good size, well-priced and the service so friendly I guarantee you'll go back for more.
g. m.
What is not to love about this place. No nonsense coffee & cake (or tea if you're that way inclined..). They have a wardrobe... full of cake... It's like some adult version of a C S Lewis fantasy. Such is it's popularity the cakes can and do sell out by the end of the day. Relaxed and friendly. You can sit at a table, armchairs, on the sofa or even at an old upright piano if the fancy takes you.
J. B.
Quirky little cake shop where your table can be an old piano and the cakes are displayed in an old cupboard. There are lots of unusual flavours, and a large variety which makes it really hard to pick just one. It's a shame it's a bit out of the way, but it's definitely worth making the trip!
B. B.
Sweet (amazing cakes) and savory (sanwiches) options and a large menu of drinking options (coffee, own label teas and hot chocolate) makes of Lovecrumbs a very good choice for breakfast, quick lunch or for an anfternoon snack.
The decadant ambiance with neon lights and the good music just add up for a chill place you must go to if you’re around.
Z. P.
I'm rather in love with Lovecrumbs. It's a little slice of perfection... with their cakes housed in a blackboard-painted wardrobe, their mismatched chairs and huge greenhouse-like windows. (One of the windows even has seating in it, so you can be a temporary window display and watch the world go by!) Inside their cake-filled wardrobe, you'll find huge meringues, salted chocolate tarts, brownies and bakewell tarts. The fruit scones, which come with little pots of cream and jam, are a particular favourite of mine. The coffee is creamy, the violet petal tea is a real pick-me-up and the herbal tea is some of the nicest I've ever tasted. Best of all, tea addicts rejoice, every tea comes with a flask of hot water so you can top yourself up! There's also free wifi too, just ask at the counter for the password. Cash only... something I keep forgetting!
J. R.
I came here as part of an event hosted by an external company but the location was perfect! Imagine a rustic (and maybe slightly worn down house from back in't day) and you'll be pretty close to what this place is like.
Super easy to get to and the staff are lovely. If you're after an instant sugar rush, I highly recommend the salted caramel brownie.
S. H.
Cute ambience, good coffee, and a yummy selection of vegan (and non-vegan) cakes. So good I came right back the next day.
G. C.
Oh my gerrrrd! This place is fantastic. The cakes... Oh the cakes. They're all unique and delicious. The selection of teas is lovely. The lemongrass in particular is fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxing and friendly and the service is great.
H. M.
lovely cake specialist. they dont do anything but sweet bakes which allows them to concentrate on fantastic sweet treats. Loses a star as when i ordered a whole cake (to take back to work) from them it was a little dry so I can't recommend that service, though i've never had anything short of delicious in store.
D. J.
I cannot fault these lovely people on the beauty of their cakes. Their taste is also exquisite. But since going Gluten Free I have not been able to enjoy their treats, maybe one day they could see their way to giving in and making a squidgey gooey brownie which is GF?
m. c.
Great cafe for coffee and cake. Had a carrot cake, was Devine. Outstanding coffee.
L. M.
It's tricky deciding where to go in Edinburgh for coffee and cake. Lovecrumbs is a wee gem, sandwiched between the Pubic Triangle's strip clubs.
The cakes are presented in a dresser and baked freshly. The loose tea choice is extensive and it's served in a teacup, with a flask of hot water so it doesn't get cold.
C. A.
Honestly a bit disappointed by this place. The old style decor honestly looks more like its going to fall apart than on purpose (the lights are the most worrisome part). While they have a nice size space, the tables they use are too big so you can't really fit a large amount of people inside. Had to wait 15 minutes for two cappuccinos. It's possible that they wanted to bring it to us with our sandwich, but we weren't told and got them after the food anyway.
The food was their saving grace. I tried the smoked salmon (open sandwich?), and it was really good. Since the food and the coffee weren't as upsetting as the decor I plan on giving this place a second chance and will write another review then.
R.
It's one of the most popular cakes cafe in the city! if you love cakes... don't miss it! All products are handmade and they have always new delicious ones. There're some books for guests.
L. R.
I love Lovecrumbs! Every time I come to Edinburgh I make a special trip to come taste their array of delectable cakes and Australian-quality coffee. Keep up the great work ladies!
K.
Great coffee and fantastic cake! The garden cake was recommended and it was delicious! Friendly staff and the higher price was justified by the quality
M. H.
Escape the rain (or wind or sunshine) in this quirky cake shop. Everything is made with a dash of love and I haven't met a cake I didn't like yet. It's terribly difficult to go past the carrot cake but I would try everything if I had the time, money and room in my waistband.
L. W.
I've had a couple of really opposing experiences at Lovecrumbs so I've settled on three stars.
My less good experience was that the service was a bit snooty - cold, more-hipster-than-thou, no more words than necessary exchanged at the till. My better and more recent experience was for a private event which was just lovely - staff were nice and chatty, the cakes were just excellent (the cheesecake brownie bites in particular), tea was lovely. Decor is shabby chic done quite well, and because of its popularity, there may be a bit of a wait.
w. l.
Fabulous toasties and coffee. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere
D.
Lovely selection of cakes, good coffee, trendy décor and friendly service.
A. M.
Great home-made eats. Nice relaxed atmosphere, often busy though! Can be tricky to find a place to purchase and chill.
Worth a visit though, especially if you've got a sweet tooth.
K. C.
If you've a hankering for something sweet, you can't do better than Lovecrumbs, purveyors of outrageously good cakes, tarts, brownies, and assorted other confections. As an amateur expert in the field of brownie consumption, I'd confidently say Lovecrumbs offer the best in town - salted caramel brownies, peanut butter brownies, crispy bacon brownies (a tangy success) - all damply fudgy delights, and all the nicer for the offer of variety. For the more sophisticated sweet-tooth, there's an ever revolving array of light, luscious cakes and slices. Coffee served is necessarily strong, and makes a nice counterpoint to the sugariness, although you'll likely feel pretty wired if you have the two in combination. Interior is tastefully eclectic vintage bric-a-brac, like the coolest Nana in the world's living room.
B. H.
Great coffee and really friendly staff, will definitely visit again!
J. S.
Crumbs, what a Lovely place. My truly dreadful punnage aside, this is such a great cafe - don't let its not very glamourous neighbours put you off. The Cake Wardrobe mentioned by other reviews is indeed chock full of homemade, unusual and carefully thought-out sweet treats - I've enjoyed raspberry and goat's cheese layered sponge (it works!), rose and raspberry Victoria sponge and a truly unforgettable melt-in-the-bouche damp blueberry and lemon cake. Plus the decor is fab - with exposed wiring, stripped walls, mismatched crooked furniture and vintage tea sets, Lovecrumbs bucks the overdone trend of cutesy Cath Kidston country kitchen and brings a bit of bite to vintage design. It's always packed but well worth a ten minute wait for a table, and if you get fidgety feet then pop next door to fabulous retro clothing boutique Herman Brown!
W. T.
I heard great things about this place. However I found my cake a bit dry. The coffee was very nice however. Good service. But was let down with the cake and I wasn't a huge fan of the style
J. m.
Lovely cakes and a unique atmosphere. However the place despite being cozy offers very limited seating, and the heat felt almost unbearable at some points.
M. S.
Nice find for a quick breakfast, lunch, or sticky bun, with vegan options!
M. E.
Nice little place, but not many tables. Casual vibe, find yourself a table, share with someone if you can, order at the counter. Coffee and brownie were good.
S. F.
This place made me want to extend our weekend visit just so I could drink coffee there everyday. What a beautiful setting, lovely service and a really nice selection of food. A MUST VISIT IF YOU'RE IN EDINBURGH!
J. P.
Decent coffee and good cake but it's overrun with trendy young people that occupy tables for hours after they are finished. Making it very hard to find a place to sit.
G. S. T.
A lovely little cafe, different and eclectic. Have a flat white whilst sitting at a piano as a table, or a lovely slice of cake tucked into the window seat. A great little find.
K. K.
Brilliant cakes and a great selection of teas and coffee. The atmosphere of this place is charming, although it does get quite crowded every now and then.
B. J.
Coffee is great, the vibe is good. Unfriendly staff...
C. S.
Great little coffeshop, with a wide range of cake selection!
L. R.
The girls who run LoveCrumbs have it so on the money with this perfect cafe. A quirky atmosphere with mis-matched tables, cutlery and a piano! LoveCrumbs invites you to stay for many hours with its cabinet of cakes and fantastic coffees.
Go now and you will never regret it!
M. O.
Lovely time and very nice coffee. Next time I need to try their cakes!
M. H.
A bit over priced and the cake texture is a bit dense. I prefer a lighter spongier cake. Some interesting flavors but the cake mixture could be better.
s. h.
A bit away from the crowd but Close from grassmarket and Castle. Lovely toasted cheese sandwich in a very cool and relaxed atmosphere. Young crowd. Some even sitting in the window ledge. Surprised to see them climb into it. Love the place.
L. C.
Lovecrumbs is really cool and chilled out. They serve the most amazing cinnamon buns ever!
A. G.
A cute and unique place to stop in Edinburgh with eclectic furniture and adorable window seats with cushions. Great cakes and coffee.
O. B.
Amazing find!
Tucked out the way of the bustling high streets.
Cosy, but gets very busy at peak times. Quality artisan coffee, hot chocolates and homemade cakes.
P. G.
Nice cafe serving Artisan Roast's Janszoon blend, along with indulgent cakes to be enjoyed on vintage chairs or sprawled out in the window.
A. M.
