Reviews of Maison de Moggy
F. S.
TL;DR - excellent cat cafe with super staff and lovely cats which seem well cared for. Awesome drinks.
I've been to animal cafes before but Maison De Moggy was at another level for me. Two things particularly impressed me here:
1) The staff are awesome; super friendly not just to visitors, but also to the cats. From the way they interact with and talk about the cats, you can tell how much they adore them (and vice versa). They'll make a passing comment about a particular cat you're spending time with, telling you their name, what they like, what their personality is like etc. It's all very casual and makes you feel like you're at a cat-fanatic friend's house - really makes you feel welcomed.
2) The drinks were spectacular. With animal cafes, food/drinks tend to take a back seat since the animals are stars of the show, but the special hot chocolates here were both stunningly presented and delicious. The cats must think the same as they'll try to sneakily taste some if you don't keep an eye on them!

Absolutely loved the experience here!! The lady who greeted us at the door was super friendly and so chilled (looked like she was at home in her slippers!😃). She gave us some quick info before entering and then once we'd taken our shoes off and sat at our tables, all the cats were sleeping when we first arrived, but then one by one started to wake up and have fusses! They were all absolutely beautiful!! 😍 Didn't eat here but 110% recommend the hot chocolate!!

One of my favourite experiences. Not just in Edinburgh, or even in Scotland, but like… in my life.
Phenomenal space, stunning cats, and delicious snacks. The cat nannies are super helpful, quick to engage the cats who like to play and handy with the treats. Amazing experience you just can’t miss if you’re near the grassmarket- and we’ll worth the trip even if you’re not.
A.
Love love love cats! We had an amazing time visiting! They have 10 cats in the cafe altogether. All super cute of course!
Some of the cats were asleep. Altho we have cats - so totally understand cats sleep most of the day! The staff really knew lots of info about the cats and told us about the breeds.
The only thing I'd say was 3 or 4 of the cats were asleep, and the session was full, so it was difficult to pet some of the cats as there were so many people talking to each of the cats.
However, overall totally recommend to all cat lovers! Well worth the visit!

Had a lovely time visiting the cat café. The cats are all gorgeous and well looked after. We booked the last slot if the day when the cats were all having their afternoon nap but we still had a great time.
t. r.
Great experience, staff were lovely and most importantly the cats are really healthy and clearly well looked after. Coffee and cake was Devine. The hot chocolate menu is very fancy
C. B.
What a relaxing way to start the morning!! I came here when it opened and the cats were just chilling out but also down to play if you engaged with them! I had the vegan mint hot chocolate and vegan brownie that were both INSANELY DELICIOUS ✨
The staff were kind, funny and played with the kitties with us which was super fun. The environment was charming and cozy where you could easily get wrapped up in a book or card game! The time went so fast though! I wish I could have stayed for longer! Thank you so much Maison de Moggy!
k. l.
Absolutely loved it. Even tho some of the cats were sleeping it was still good. Good selection of hot drinks and cake. Would definitely recommend
D. G.
Well, where to start?! Before i get to the nitty gritty of the kitty, let's cover the boring bits.
Immaculate and very well kept place. Selection of drink and food is only coffee/tea/hot choc and juices.
Food is purely cakes.
That being said, the drinks were yummy and very well presented, so much so we actually forgot to take photos! The cakes were delicious also.
The cat climbing and bedding was epic, lots of areas for the cats to climb, play, chill and just be cats.
Now, the cats. So cute and chilled out, the Sphinx cat was clearly the boss of the place. But there was the largest, A Norwegian Forest Cat, who was a definite King.
Got a few photos and, luckily got to see the Maine Coone too at the end.
Staff were lovely, and showed a clear relationship with all the cats which was really nice to see.
We will definitely be back.

had a lovely time at scotland’s first cat cafe and the nannies were so friendly and introduced the cats and allowed us to feed biscuits. pleasant experience
A. B.
Lovely little place. The staff were amazing and the cats are very friendly. The food and drinks were delicious.
D. H.
Amazing for anyone who loves cats. The hour slot goes super quick - if you book before lunch some of the cats are super sleepy but at the end they all get up because they know what time it is! Loved it and will be going back when we're back in Edinburgh.
K. B.
This was my first time to a cat café and I loved it. Everyone there was very welcoming, and the cats were gorgeous. The time went really quickly and the whole experience was very relaxing.
The layout of the rooms and the furniture for the cats was also really good, and they seemed very comfortable and happy.
M. R.
First time in a cat cafe and I really enjoyed my time there. It was good to hear about all the cats and the personalities they all have. I enjoyed the drinks we ordered. Would definitely recommend to a friend
M. M.
It was my second time in a cat coffee and this one was my favorite. The place is spacious and very welcoming. I love that the cats have a lot of space to play and so many things to go up and down. Also the staff was lovely and friendly. They explained us everything and you can feel that they really care of the wellbeing of the cats. The hours went so quickly as we were busy playing with the cats. They were all so adorable and friendly! I’m so sad that I live so far away from Edinburgh because I would love to come more often. It was really good and relaxing being around the animals as someone who has anxiety.
c.
A beautiful place to start my Edinburgh adventure, never been to a cat cafe before and felt incredibly welcomed and looked after. The staff were all amazing making sure we knew the rules and had a proper introduction with all the cats. Definitely recommend!
M. B.
A wonderful experience. The calm atmosphere is fantastic, the cats are an absolute delight with a range of personalities but all friendly (except Pauline, who is, um, very selective about who she's friendly with, and very much on her terms). The food and drinks are well priced and tasty, the staff are very friendly and it is an incredibly well put together experience.
R. C.
Magical place with lovely staff, plenty of fur and great coffee. The cats are really friendly and if you're a cat fan then you have to visit this place. Love it to the bits!
L. D.
Worth a visit definitely. Beautiful cats and very friendly, helpful staff.
I felt it could have been cleaner, and I was put off eating/drinking inside because of that, but otherwise I'd recommend.
Z. F.
Lovely staff, beautiful friendly cats and really great cake! A really lovely experience, whether you're missing your own cat or just want to stroke a few, we'll worth the visit! The cats are used to being stroked and just lay down and have a nap while you get your cat fix! Plenty of opportunity for pictures of and with the cats, everyone working at the cafe are so friendly and can tell you everything you want to know about each cat individually. And also, worth a second mention, great cake!
J. E.
Amazing cat cafe with cats of all different personalities and levels of fluff! Really great cakes too
T.
Absolutely amazing! I came with my partner, we had a drink and lots of cuddles with with cats! I would highly recommend!
S. I.
The staff were amazing and the cats to die for. Lots of engaging toys and spaces for us to cuddle up. Drinks were reasonably priced but to be honest I didn't really have much of mine as I was trying to play with the cats as much as possible.
C. N.
Super cute place! So cozy and staff are super friendly! Hot chocolate list looked delish! Had to try one 😍
B. A.
Unique experiece
Definetly the cutest and most beautiful cats I’ve ever seen
They also have merchendise with the cats they got in the store and they look very nice so you can get yourself magnets, t-shirts, magnets and more merch with your favorite cat
My favorite was Jacques, a huge fluff bomb of cuteness
The drinks were also very instagramable and I bet the cakes were amazing too but unfortunately ate too many sweets that day
100% worth the visit
Can’t wait to return
It’s a cat lover paradise 🐱❤️
C. M.
Small treat for my 14 year old daughter, she loved her visit, you have to book your 1 hour slot at £10 per person and you can buy a drink and cake if you want. She was over the moon with the visit and would recommend it as a lovely treat
K. N.
Such a great place. Friendly staff and adorable cats. atmosphere feels safe and the food and drink they offer is amazing and tastes the same.
M. R.
Came here for my birthday with a friend and we had a lovely time, staff are all welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. The cats were so relaxed and entertaining just being themselves. Found the overall atmosphere very calming and relaxing.
M. A.
Visited as a treat arranged for my cousin who is from Barstable. Cats are so beautifull, hot chocolates were amazing (we had mint, blackforest gateau and bannoffee pie ones yum) as well as gorgeous carrot cake and cookies.
Highly recommend for cat and non cat people really very chilled environment well controlled social distancing, hand sanitisation and adherence to regulation. Well worth a visit
M. H.
Visiting through covid excellent covid safety in place. The cat nannies knew all the cats so well and had a wealth of information on them. You also knew this was more than just a job the girls loved the cats. Carrot cake and coffee really good
A. Z.
Cute cats, great desserts, and wonderul staff! A must-visit!
K. H.
We just happened to be walking by and spotted a hairless cat in the window before we realized it was a cat cafe, we booked our time slot to play with the cats immediately on the spot. We had an evening session and although the cats were sleepy it was great to be able to interact with breeds I've never been able to stroke before.
Amazing staff, who really do care about all things cats. The cats are not stressed by any visitors and the standard of cleanliness is to a high standard.
We had hot chocolates and they were lovely.
Highly recommend to any cat lover!
E. H.
Amazing place, my daughter loved the variety of kitties, and is instantly obsessed with maison de moggy. The staff are pleasant and talkative and very knowledgeable.
We shall be visiting again soon
R. S.
Ah just too cute! Great to get back to venues after lockdown has eased. I wanted to support an independant place so booked in to MdM. What a great place. Friendly staff, CUTEST cats and a lovely cuppa and cake.
Feedback to MdM would probably be to ask for a bit more on the menu? Could we book afternoon tea when we book entry? Set menu of some sandwiches and cake with tea/coffee? I hadn't seen the menu was limited so turned up hungry. Or would the cats steal it all :)
Feedback to customers. When a venue has been shut for 3+ months please don't just buy entry and decline to purchase even a cuppa. It's a cat cafe. Sure they get the entry fee but help make it viable by purchasing a cuppa or a keyring when you visit. :)
M. A.
Arrived late due to train cancellation but was allowed to stay on to make up time.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere and staff all lovely. Cats so gorgeous and very content.
A. H.
Lovely cat cafe! The cats are all super friendly and so so cute! The staff were great too. If you're a cat person then you'll love it.
J. C.
Overall: As it was our experience, I would recommend it only as an one time experience.
Cons:
1. Not as much exposure or interaction expected with the cats
2. The drinks are fine for the price, it did not impress me or anything.
3. One of the staff was holding or interacting with three of the cats for pretty much the majority of the time that we went in, thus not allowing too much interaction for us as the cat that person had were already tired.
4. They could have plan the meeting with cats better. For example, only providing the name close to the end of the session.
5. The booking price is a bit too much as you will consume anyways, it should be (in my opinion) ~£6 or £8. For the booking price (£10), the sessions are short.
6. I would suggest the staff to interact more with the costumer.
Pro:
1. Cats. What else to say? They are amazing and beautiful
2. The very well taken care of, and the staff do understand their well being
3. The place has few options to hide and jump into.
4. Cats, again, they are adorable.
K. D.
Brilliant wee place. Staff are lovely as always and the cats are just gorgeous.
J. S.
This is a wonderful place. The kitties are so sweet and I loved sitting and watching them (and petting them)! Some will get in your lap and sit. The cakes and drinks are excellent. Make a reservation. You won’t be disappointed. Truly for cat lovers!
J. C.
Amazing vibes, beautiful cats and kind staff, not too busy even when at peak times
H. W.
I absolutely love coming to Maison De Moggy!
It's one of the nicest spots in town for a relaxing cafe trip. All the cats are so lovely and friendly.
Really clean place as well, cats are very well looked after and very spoiled!
Lovely selection of cake and drinks options.
The past few time I've been going around 1pm and this seems to be a really good time to see the cats out and about.
Couldn't recommend more.
A. A.
Lovely experience for the cat lovers , very friendly staff , the entrance costs 8 pounds you can order drinks of you want. Some of the cats are really playful and some are lazy and sleepy. They are all quite old cats the youngest is 5 years old so I think that’s why they aren’t that playful but overall great experience. I advise you call to book an appointment before you go.
K. H.
Absolutely amazing place! The cats seemed very content, made friends with a lovely little sphinx cat and had a very delicious slice of cake and hot chocolate. The cat nannys were very nice and super polite, so we thoroughly enjoyed our visit! Many thanks guys!
O. S.
Beautiful place very nice staff and cute cats. Highly recommend
A. C.
Best cat cafe we've been to. Cats are all beautifully looked after and are all up for being stroked 😊 staff were all really informative and attentive. I would definitely revisit when we are in Edinburgh again
L. C.
Not sure who was friendlier, the staff or the kitties!
Super relaxed environment, well loved cats, amazing staff. And don't even get me started on the vegan cake!
J. J.
Lovely hour spent with the moggies and a lovely hot chocolate. Staff are great too 👍
A. C.
You have to book your ticket in advance online, so bear this in mind. It wasn't full when I went but the whole cafe had a wonderful sense of calm about it, even when the cats were running around being silly. There was plenty of opportunity to sit and have a cup of tea while watching the cats, walk around stroking them or taking pictures and the staff even gave me some treats to give to them. All in all it was a great experience and that's entirely down to the fantastic staff.
S. G.
The is so amazing! A dozen of cats, extremely relaxed either sleeping or strolling around. Pet them, play with them, they are alright. Some nice cake is available, an OK coffee and great hotel chocolate. Keep in mind to reserve upfront. Staff is super friendly and can tell stories about each single cat.
L. K.
A good selection of drinks and light food. The cats are amazing, staff were helpful and great. Overall a fun experience
J. T.
10 beautiful cats, who are clearly well cared for and relaxed. Informative and friendly staff who are quick to intervene if their charges' comfort is threatened in any way
K. S.
Been here multiple times over the past 1 1/2 years. It is such a lovely place to relax, and have a cup of tea, coffee, or a wide variety of cakes! I’m an anxious person so being able to escape the business of Edinburgh for an hour in here is great! The Cat Nannies are all so nice & helpful when it comes to finding out more about the cats + the food & drink, and they will often help play with the cats and tell you what toys each of the cats prefer to play with! Keep in mind that some of the cats may be sleeping during your visit, but there will always be a few around to keep you entertained!
Bonus: I wasn’t a cat person until my friend took me here for the first time after college one day, and ever since I laid eyes upon those 12 (now 10, 2 of them have since retired and are back at there owners home) cats, I have been converted!!!
J.
Very cosy place to spend an hour with some beautiful cats. They're usually quite sleepy but very okay with being petted. The staff (cat nannies) are very friendly and provide a lot of information about the kitties. Lovely wee cakes as well (vegan options).
R.
Being perched on by the sphynx cat (Elodie) was the highlight of my visit. Could not reccomend more.
V. D.
My girlfriend and I went for our anniversary, one of the friendliest cat cafes we've been to! You won't be disappointed 💜
E. J.
Beautiful cafe, great food and stunning well behaved beautiful kitties, such a lovely chilled environment. The staff are super friendly and the souvenirs you can buy are gorgeous and fair priced. Loved it and cant wait to visit again!
d.
Best place ever.....
Why rated so highly? Well first of all .... Cats... I mean if you are checking this place out you are probably a cat person and they don't disappoint on the awesome cat front.
The staff are also great and friendly and you can tell the really care about the cats (and the guests) the cakes and drinks were also pretty good.... But.... Just look at the pictures....
CATS :-D
C. H.
Interesting concepts and probably a place more inclined to cat lovers. You pay £8 for entry plus any additional beverages. The only serve basic refreshments and cakes. I went in the afternoon when the cats where sleeping, so I didn't get a great experience like others would have probably. The cappuccino was good and liked the design of the cat paw. Staff are very over protected and very particular on everything you do. E.g. cannot leave ur coffee unattended or you are allowed to walk with your shoes into the shop but not out of the shop.. 🤔. Overall an ok experience but probably wouldn't go again.
E. M.
This place is a dream! My wife and I are sad that we only got to make it here once. The cats are so friendly and love to play. They have a nice area for the cats to play and relax and a separate kitchen area where they prepare the food and beverages (the cats are not allowed in this area). If cats are your thing you'll love this place!
A. B.
Firstly it's not a big place which is a good thing. Two rooms and a shoes storage. Staff let you in one by one which is perfect to go through the house rules and prevent any cats from escaping. (Not that they'd want to) clearly they are well looked after and the employees and very informative and make sure all the guests are happy and get facts and interesting stories about each cat.
Just be aware cats sleep often up to 16hrs a day. So be aware you will see them but they won't necessarily want to play or jump on you.
I would say the entry price was very reasonable and they have some well priced and interesting choices of tea. The Chai tea was lovely.
Would go again.
M. A.
This place is amazing.
I really needed to relax (marathon jitters) and came across this place. Booked a slot a little later that day and as soon as we walked in the door the nerves were gone. Happy cats all over the place, loads of toys so you can play with the cats, kind and helpful staff and good coffee.
Also the hoodies they sell are the best - so soft and warm you never want to take them off!
C. F.
Very lovely place with friendly staff, and clearly adored, very well cared for cats. I loved that Sebastian chose a battered old box instead of the myriad comfortable cat palaces, beds, cushions and hidey holes! Good for a lazy daytime date or to bring a child or older loved one to enjoy tea and cake.
l. s.
the cats are so sweet and the hot chocolate is amazing it's such a nice relaxing place
S. F.
Absolutely lovely cat cafe! Was in Edinburgh for a few days and this cafe was a must. The cats are amazingly gorgeous, clearly very well looked after and happy. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was very relaxed and cosy. The cake was also delicious. Would definitely recommend for any lover of cats.
C. R.
Amazing chai late with friendly staff and very cute cats!
M. M.
Lovely little Café with super friendly staff. Lots to offer for sweet treats on the menu, and said treats were delicious 😋 I loved the little shop with souvenirs featuring your favourite kitties.
We are planning our next trip back already!
S.
Love all the cats, Elodie the Sphinx is the highlight, Jaque is enormous, Coco only likes head scitches and the cakes and hot chocolate are to DIE for
C. W.
A very similar experience to the original cat coffees from Japan. The employees were really friendly and helpful. The cats were so cute and very playful. I recommend it to any cat lovers, it's a must in case you're nearby.
A. S.
I was given a refrence to come here by my roommates im the states. I almost walked right past it to have lunch at a nearby pub until these two lovely ladies walked out raving about their experience! I walked into the entry and was able to be apart of the next sitting.
The tea and shortbread were any amazing price and with the additional 8 pounds for entering I wouldve ended up paying the same price anywhere else.
My only problem was a personal one, listening to baby talk in high pitch will happen from the regulars and the staff. If you can get past that, definitely go!
P. M.
Great cafe and beautiful cats! A bit more on the pricey side and I don't recommend at really busy times but still lovely!
Just beware that none of the cats are stealing your cake, they certainly can go from 0 to 100 for a piece!
E.
I was nervous to come here because I had concerns about the welfare of the cats - but I was really impressed by the care shown for the cats and the richness of their environment. All the cats seemed very content and everything was set up to make them feel as safe and happy as possible. The cake and tea was also excellent!!
G. H.
Visited for the first time today, it was worth every penny! Nice place full of friendly cats and extremely friendly staff. Had a caramel latte and a bit of their raspberry and white chocolate cake; both were fantastic! Can't recommend highly enough!
m.
A wonderful surprise outing from my husband..the cats are so sure, approachable and friendly..the cats are loved and very well looked after . Beautiful settings and very cosy beds fir the cats 🐈 lovely treat!!
K. T.
Maison de Moggy is a cat cafe, conveniently located near Edinburgh Castle. Normally you would have to reserve a time slot through their website. But luckily they still had some space when we arrived. The cats seem happy and look very healthy. All of the cats like to be petted. But some are a little tired and maybe sleeping. Friendly staff.
B.
Great place to visit! The cats are all friendly and the staff are lovely. A really clean place which make a darn good coffee and cake! Food is prepared in an off limits area to cats and is very hygienic. The cats have a separate areas which that can enter at free will to get some down time away from the public. There are 12 cats here who dot about via overhead bridges and wall fixtures. You are encouraged during your visit to wander between the 3 part room and socialise with the cats and other cat lovers. Bits and bobs of customised cat memorabilia to purchase on exit. I'd definitely go again! Book online is recommended as it's a rather popular place.
E. A.
This is a fun experience for the cat lovers not able to have one as a pet [landlord won't let us :( ].
Maison de Might has a nice homey atmosphere where the cats roam freely. There are many toys to get the cats attention. Like all cats you'll find some sleeping, some lazy, while others are full of energy.
On another note, the cat nannies are very friendly and gaves us tips to keep the cats engaged.
M. M.
We visited whilst on a short break to the city & made this booking as one of the last things to do on our trip.
What a lovely experience. We'd already visited the cat cafe in Bristol and I'm so glad we chose to try this one as well.
The welcome was warm & the "induction" was very brief.
Shoes removed & bags & jackets stored in the cloakroom & we were in with the wildlife :-)
The cats you can tell are very comfortable with people sharing their space and they just seem to do whatever they'd do if no-one were there.
Totally unphased by visitors but very interested in my lemon & lavender cake ( which was very tasty by the way).
We were privileged to be visited by most of the residents and I was pretty smitten with Sebastian the British Shorthair. He is the most adorable soft ginger colour & captured my heart certainly.
Then coffee was great, freshly brewed & nice & hot.
The staff were engaging & very friendly.
I'm certainly not surprised they've just won Scottish Cafe of the year, it's well deserved.
We'll be back to Edinburgh & the Grassmarket area & when we do, we'll visit again to see them again.
Big thumbs up from me.
D. P.
Very relaxing and enjoyable for cat lovers. There were 10 cats and they were amazingly chilled and used to humans wandering around. Cakes good too.
k.
The kitties are so adorable!!! It's a very nice and clean cafe, you will go there for the cats and unlike other cafes it is encouraged to wander. Other cafes you have to stay seated at your table. This one you are encouraged to find as many cats as you can. They are all soo soft and seem very happy. I want to go back so bad :(
H. M.
Really enjoyed our trip to Maison De Moggy, the cats are cute! The cat nannies are welcoming and introduced us to all the cats 🐈
g. g.
We absolutely loved the time at Maison de Moggy. Lovely staff, delicious drinks/cakes and of course the gorgeous cats. It was our first time and we can't wait to come back. Thanks!!❤️
H. K.
This was such a lovely experience - I've visited numerous cat cafes all over the world (USA, Canada, & Australia) and this was probably the cleanest and most well-kempt one I've been to - the cats were a little less playful than I would have liked but it was later in the day so they were likely tired. The staff was sweet and accommodating.
A. S.
I love all cat cafes (well, as long as the cats are treated properly and hygiene is maintained) and this was no exception. The cats are well cared for, with strict rules applied for their well-being, and they had some fascinating enrichment to keep them occupied. I was particularly taken with a giant dollhouse that also provided them with a bit of a retreat when they had enough of being petted and played with.
J. W.
Absolutely fantastic place with friendly staff and gorgeous, playful cats. They also serve wonderful cake and coffee. Booking in advance is a must, but well worth a visit.
C. W.
The cats were beautiful and very relaxed. A joy to be in their company. Though be warned they are not very sociable and will not approach you. Also at the moment they are not serving savory food so I recommend going in the afternoon as the morning is too early for coffee and cake. Would recommend to anyone that loves cats and needs a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city.
N. L.
Had a blast. The cakes and coffee we're great, the staff was great, and the cats were awesome. They didn't overload the session so everyone had time with most of the cats, and they were very friendly, well groomed, and happy. Great for my wife and I midway through a trip when we were really missing our babies.
B.
Visited here with my mam as we were looking for something to pass time whilst doing a bit of shopping. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day, I wish we'd have spent longer there! The cats are very well looked after and there are a lot of things there to stimulate them. Elodie is a personal favourite. Whilst we were there she enjoyed lounging in the window enjoying the sun. The brews were slightly expensive but totally worth it.
A.
Great place to go be ignored by cats, saves me the hassle of having my own cat that ignores me. Seriously though, it's a great idea, the cats are very happy and pampered. Staff are welcoming and the place is spotlessly clean. Tea & cakes are quality. It's the cats pyjamas, I'll return to be given the furry feline shoulder again soon! 😊
S. H.
Just amazing. So friendly, beautiful cats, lovely stuff. Hot choc so good. Would highly recommend
c. s.
Gorgeous cats! Delicious tea & cake. Helpful and friendly staff.
Not given 5 stars because I feel the entry price was rather expensive.
M. O.
Great idea. A lovely cup of tea while cuddling kitties. A lot were sleeping when I visited but it was great to see them.
P. C.
Lovely place and friendly workers 🙂
We had really nice time. Definitely recommend. Brilliant experience for cat lovers
S. K.
A fantastic experience, absolutely worth every penny. I never thought my heart would be stolen by a Sphynx cat but Elodie was the star of the show. What a personality! The cats are all very happy and very well cared for. The cat nannies clearly know them as individuals. Some were active, some asleep and when the cats decided they were done being stroked they were able to jump up on shelves and furniture out of reach. The house rules were clearly explained and the other guests were pleasant and very respectful of the cat's personal space.
J. C.
Friendly place with a lot of things to do, have the choice of some food and drink also which is finished with a lovely paw print on the hot drinks. An amazing experience I would recommend.
N. G.
I have been so many times, and I always have such a pleasant time! I think some people come in expecting the cats to do a song and dance for them, then spend the rest of the time fawning over the humans, but they’re living animals, you cannot control what they do. Also, as some people seem confused, the £8 entry fee is clearly for upkeep as there is no pressure to buy food or drink (which is all very reasonable and delicious)
The most important thing is that the cats are clearly happy and well cared for, they have lots of interesting things to explore and places to sleep, the staff never poke and prod them to provide entertainment for the guests. You can tell they are treated well.
I went here on Monday with friends who had never been before! We have lovely cake and drinks and the Cat Nanny that took our timeslot gave us wonderful introductions to all the cats and answered all our questions.
But yeah, it’s not a cat circus, thank goodness.
S.
Amazing selection of Hot Chocolate. Gorgeous kitties all lounging. Very relaxed environment!
A. K.
had a lovely time. booked on the website for appointment same day. staff were lovely. food was anazing and the cats were so adorable and playful
C. R.
We didn’t book beforehand, but walked in and made a reservation to come back an hour later. We had a great time! The cats were a bit sleepy at first, but got quite playful in the end! It was my first cat cafe experience and I’m very glad we decided to walk in!!
M. R.
Very nice place to visit if you are a cat lover. The staff (human and feline) are extremely friendly and nice.
D. M.
Beautiful assortment of different kitties! If ones not awake, chances are the other 9 will be! Very friendly staff and cats, with a wide array of teas and special cakes to keep you fed while you pet the cats!
A. M.
The cats were really nice and the experience was great. It was really fun and the staff were lovely.
R.
Patient and friendly staff, easy to talk to and hear stories as you interact with the cats and their personalities. The cats themselves are clearly well cared for and their welfare takes top priority. Relaxed atmosphere, come and go from your table to explore. Elodie was the star of the show!
A. J.
I love this place! Great service and the cats are all so lovely. So glad this place exists!
M. H.
Handsome kitty, friendly cat-nanny and delicious coffee break. The only downfall is that I am not allowed to live there forever.
M. N.
This place is fantastic!!! It is an excellent cat cafe, with a number of friendly cats. They are all very tame and are more than happy to let you stroke them (if they are in a sleepy mood), or play with them if they are feeling active! The staff are friendly and helpful, really helping you get the most out of your visit. The drinks and cakes are also excellent, but the cats are easily worth the admission!
l. s.
I was visiting scotland with my family and this cafe was amazing! The cats are so funny and friendly, all the staff are so nice and you feel at home there. Cant wait to visit again.
H. J.
Maison de Moggy is honestly the best cat cafe I’ve been to in the U.K.
The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and they also deeply care and love all the cats. I often find at other cat cafes they don’t really seem to interact with you or the cats that much and come across very disinterested. At Maison de Moggy, they can tell you so much fun and interesting information about each cat. It’s nice that they’re all live in cats too so you always get to see your favourite (in my case, Elodie the Sphynx).
I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re ever in Edinburgh.
J. B.
Great experience overall. The cats are well taken care of and very friendly. The cafe is well apportioned and they do an amazing job with keeping with the theme. The staff was enthusiastic and obviously care a lot for the animals they work with.
N. C.
Wonderful place. Lovely little drinks menu and tray bakes available. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend this place for any fan of the feline.
J. G.
Such a lovely place! I was really impressed with how organised it was and you can really see that the cats and their welfare are top priority. A special mention to Elodie who stole my heart (and brownie).
F. E.
Super cozy and nice place 😻
V. A.
Fantastic little place where the cats rule all. The cats are so well looked after and have such great facilities, it's a pleasure to spend time in their world. Plus the refreshments on offer are delicious...try the banoffee hot chocolate, it's lush
J. S.
Place is brilliant for cat lovers. Staff a brilliant and food's amazing. The cats are the stars and they know it
R. M. H.
Lovely cats to cuddle in a friendly environment. Coffee and cake is reasonably priced with plenty of gluten-free options.
E.
I visited here with my girlfriend and made friends with some lovely kitties.
The cats were sun bathing and sleepy when we arrived however, humans don't want to entertain all day, so cats should be allowed to rest. They did come to life again when a delivery arrived to the cafe and we had the best time playing with them.
The staff were super friendly, helpful and energetic, they really helped build the wonderful atmosphere!
The cats were so cute, the gluten free cakes were super nice and the atmosphere was so relaxing. We were only there an hour but it felt like much longer!
B. N.
Such a cute café with such cute cats and the vegan chocolate biscoff cupcake was divine! Staff knowledgeable about allergens too 💗
L. C.
This place is awesome and friendly.
My son surprised me for my birthday, being a wheelchair user I thought I might struggle but their entranceway was big enough for my chair and 2 ppl. I was given an adequate seat and had plenty opportunities to greet several of the cats too.
I personally think the cost of drinks are a tad steep.
My only issue, and that's not the cafes fault, was that there wasnt a drop kerb in the alley just before the cafe. It proved a challenge so if your a wc user your best coming down from tollcross rather than up from the grass market.
I'm hoping I'll be able to come back again as I loved interacting and watching their lovely furry babies.
K. d.
had an brilliant time the cats were the cutest and the black cherry hot chocolate was amazing
V. B.
Totally loved it. Every cat is beautiful in their own wee way :)! Highly recommend
A. M.
Great food and drink, the cats are excellent company for both the cafe owners and visitors, a perfect cat paradise for cat moms and cat dads everywhere, cats are so super friendly, it's a relaxed atmosphere as well, and full catification is such a great way to help the cats relax around tourists and locals
L. T.
Great cafe. Food was nice and the cats are good too
R. P.
A wonderful visit! My mother and I came back the same day!! Great staff, cakes, tea, and happy cats well-cared for :)
D. E.
Great way to spend an hour!
K. M.
Lovely hour spent with some feline friends. Well worth a visit and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.
l.
Second time already and would come again and again! Can’t get enough of the kitties. Plus as some are usually sleeping/hiding, it’s likely you’ll see different cats each visit. Drinks are good and staff is great. Prices are frankly reasonable, keeping in mind they have to buy food, litter etc. for so many cats! Cakes are genuinely delicious as well.
I don’t get people who are disappointed because they expect the cats to be interested in them specifically. They see dozens of people a day who are all trying to get their attention. I’m thankful even to see them sleep. Also the entire place is so cute!
S. T.
The cats are all well looked after, the area is clean and well maintained and there are lots of cats
E. M.
This was more fun than I even expected! I have two cats of my own so why would a cat cafe be awesome? Because it's EVEN MORE CATS. The staff were so lovely. Made you feel very welcome. It was so fun to pet all the cats and play with them. And the coffee and cake was excellent, too! Will definitely recommend to others visiting Edinburgh. Thanks for a great memory and a highlight of my trip.
X. U.
House with 12 resident "moggys" that chill and play as visitors entice the kitties to play with wands and feathers. The price is 7£ an hour and the Cat Nannies care for the kitties and act as waitresses. Each moggy has their profile on display in the home.
S. K.
Really fun experience meeting all of the cats, plus some very nice gluten free cake made for a good experience.
E. L.
I visited at 1pm on Thursday and had a really lovely time. The cats are all stunningly beautiful and were spread around the cafe so you could interact with them wherever you were. Some of them were asleep for part of my visit but woke up and came out to explore/play when they were ready. It was lovely to see their different personalities. Staff were really friendly and attentive. The gluten free cake was delicious and I left feeling very relaxed and happy. I will definitely visit again when I return to Edinburgh.
V. Y.
I love this place! The cats are wonderful and it’s totally worth it! Really liked the cakes too 🍰
J. M.
A very magical hour spent with lovely cats & their nannies. None of us wanted to leave.
Hope to be back soon but as we live in Devon, it won't be soon enough for our liking.
C. K.
A lovely place with plenty of cats to cuddle, very attentive staff and literally the best cupcakes ever. Book early if you plan on going at the weekend though!
D. L.
Really nice place, and I visited a few Saturdays ago. Just as expected, about two thirds of the cats were asleep, although a few were roaming around the place. Those working here were incredibly kind and considerate, and it was a wonderful place. Although the main attention is really on the cats, as the white chocolate and raspberry cake wasn't really too good, the white chocolate was nice, but the raspberry pieces had a strange, chemically taste to it. I assume they may have been frozen? I also got a raspberry fizz drink, which was INCREDIBLY fizzy, so they certainly didn't lie about it. But the fizziness really overpowered any underlying flavour. Again, really nice place, and I assume that most people just visit for the cats, which is for the best. The staff were amazing and incredible.
L. S.
Lovely place to visit if you love cats. Staff were very friendly, cats were chilled and approachable. Cakes were yummy!
L. B.
Staff were really friendly and enthusiastic, sadly the cats not so much. They were sleeping pretty much the entire time and looked fed up with people. We did manage to get a few pats in though, and having a coffee with a massive cat laying next to you is quite a nice experience. Just don't expect too much love from the cats and you won't be disappointed. Hot chocolates and cake were well made.
C. B.
Lovely place and friendly staff who really care about cats. Cats are taken good care of.
C. C. (.
A lovely little adventure right in the heart of Edinburgh. Staff are very friendly as are the cats. Food and drink options are plentiful also.
S. D.
Does what it says on the tin - a little cafe with ten cats that have free roam of the place. It is a little pricey, and your stay is limited to one hour, but well worth it, as the cats were very friendly and came to say hello to everyone (obviously this is not guaranteed!). Staff were very friendly, and on hand to take food and drink orders and answer questions about the cats. Booking in advance essential, especially at weekends.
K. M.
Maison de Moggy is absolutely wonderful. My husband and I visited two days in a row and were greeted with smiles from staff both times. The cats are extremely sweet and docile. It's important to remember to respect them as you are in their home. There are souvenirs that one can buy to remember their time or you can take many photos (but be respectful of the kitties' space!) The drinks are absolutely delicious. If you have never been to a cat cafe and want an amazing first experience, this is definitely the place for that!
H. M.
Highly recommended for cat lovers! Beautiful cats, uncommon breeds. Coffees lovely and staff nice.
C. W.
Fantastic.....
Highly recommend going here if you love cats, staff very knowledgeable and informative on the cats they have.
Beware of Elodie she can smell Cream a mile off.
All the cats are very friendly too.
I love Coco.... Eat, Sleep Purr repeat.
E. L.
Gorgeous little café with a friendly inclusive atmosphere. The cats are very lucky to have the owners, care, fuss and space
Would 100% recommend
A. s.
Amazing staff, clean place and doesn't smell like cats surprisingly😂😂 cutest cats ever
A. C.
I'm not particularly a cat person but this place is great. It's in impeccable condition and they have lots of different interesting breeds of cat all of which are beautifully cared for. There is a £7 charge to get in and you have to book in advance but the drinks and cakes are very reasonably priced and quite good. It's a strange place but a lovely one!
S. H.
i had a lovely time and staff was great! the cats seem happy and well kept though I was worried maybe there were too many people at once for such a small space? the cats seemed overwhelmed at times, trying to avoid humans.
I am glad that the cats can escape into a safe zone where there's no people but i was concerned that the space is treated less as a cafe and more as a cat room where people go and look at cats.
i think it would benefit from introducing a free drink as part of the package (like the cat cafe in London) so that people go there to also drink and chat and not just chase around and take pictures of cats - just an idea!
T. N.
Friendly staff, amazing sweet cats they love playing and sleeping and cuddles. You can really see the cats are happy, they also have their own place to chill and relax without humans around. Great cake too! A really relaxing and fun hour
C. C.
Brilliant time spent at Maison del Moggy. The people were polite, attentive and clearly adored the cats. The cats were indeed purrfect!
S. C.
You have to take your shoes off or wear protectors over your shoes when you arrive. Cats became quite active around 2pm, all are very friendly.
R. F.
A favourite hangout in Edinburgh visited twice now and got vouchers for my birthday. Clean, Cats are gorgeous and well looked after. The cake is amazing. I don’t think the entry fee is that much given it’s in the grass market area. A very cute experience for cat/animal lovers. Staff are always welcoming and friendly.
D. K.
Gorgeous cats which is probably the reason you come here.
Decent tea and cakes.
L. L.
Beautiful breed of cats. There are about 10 of them and they all seem to be very comfortable in their well kept and spacious place. The cats seem content when various people come up to touch them. This place serve lovely cakes and hot drinks (this is an extra expense, you are not obligated to buy anything). You need to book ahead online for this.
L. w.
Was fantastic and we loved it. I don't agree with others negative responses, not sure exactly what they were looking for, it's not a performing circus you are going to. While we were there they cats were walking around talking to people, some were sleeping next to people or in their baskets, very chilled and not stressed at all. If you left them to do their own thing, they approached you to have a sniff or a play or just to sleep behind you. The cat nannies were fab and knowledgeable and treated the cats like their babies. Was an excellent experience. We will be back.
N. I.
Great little cat cafe situated nicely in Edinburgh's old town within a short walking distance to the castle. Decent amount of room to walk around in and interact with the cats. Feeding sessions give more of a chance to see them all as well. Had a nice hot chocolate which was a decent price too.
M. B.
What an absolutely lovely place! The tea and hot chocolate were fabulous, the staff was beyond helpful, and the kittens were, of course, perfect. We've been to cat cafes all over and this was far and away the best experience we have had! You need to come spend some time here!
E. T.
It's a cafe full of cats! What else do you need to know?! Awesome staff... And there's cats. Furry cats. In a cafe. Heaven on earth.
J. E.
Cats were very cute and loved gentle petting, staff were very friendly. Make sure you book in advance!
L. L.
A lovely relaxing hour was spent in the company of the gorgeous cats at Maison de Moggy. The cats were quite active during our visit and happily came to investigate what you were eating, the cakes were very tasty. You have to book a slot before arriving and must follow the house rules, but they are there to keep everyone happy, safe and well.
S. B.
I stumbled on this place while visiting Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and told us about all the cats there. The setup for the cats is pretty neat. The mocha and cake were tasty. The cats were surprisingly disinterested in people and toys. Most were either sleeping or didn't want to interact. They slinked away from me and skittered off even when I was not being intrusive. I get that cats can be like that, but it's not totally odd to expect a place like this to have playful cats that don't shy away from people. I was really disappointed. I visited earlier in the day, so maybe it varies by time. Expect to have tea and cake in the presence of cats but don't expect affectionate, playful cats.
B.
Staff was very friendly and although a lot of the cats were sleepy most of the time of the hour, we could still play with them. Just think that £8 per person is a bit much especially when u have to pay for what u order on top of it. A free drink included with that price would be lovely.
Space a bit small if there are too many ppl. Felt like we were in a cat room amd not exactly a cafe. Nonetheless a happy experience for a cat lover 😊👍
R. I.
Great atmosphere with friendly staff. Very helpful and great selection of drinks and cakes!
L. H.
Such a lovely calm place, with lovely selection of teas and cakes but obviously the stars are the cats!! So many cute cats!!!
G. M.
Always great to visit Maison de Moggy.
The cats are awesome and so laid back even when some customers are clearly annoying them.
A great mix of cat personalities to meet and the staff are always so friendly and helpful.
Would recommend to anyone.
m. h.
Great friendly place. With lots of friendly cats, and cat nannies
S. W.
It was fantastic! The cats are extremely even-tempered and sweet. Of course, do not go expecting them to be extremely mobile and playful - they're super sweet but docile. If you're expecting kittens who demand attention and run around like crazy, then you may want to adjust your expectations. It's super simple and super sweet. Elody is a Sphinx cat and she's sweet and playful when she wants to be with the pink ball. The others all love pets - Marcel and Phillipe love the windows for the sun's warmth. If you're looking for a cute cafe with great lattes, this is definitely the place. Just remember to not pick up or force the cats to do anything - remember, you're entering their home. Be respectful and you will have a great time.
L. A.
Absolutely fantastic cat cafe in Edinburgh!
Staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, the cats welfare is clearly top priority and they are so relaxed and healthy.
So many beautiful cats (my favourite being Elodie the sphynx!)
A must go!
B. W.
Very relaxed environment, and plenty of different cats to see and pat. When we were there, we got to feed a few of the cats with treats. The environment is very pleasant for both the cats and humans. Simple menu if you want something to eat, but don't have to if you don't want to order anything!
C. E.
I've only been here once, and it was an awesome experience. Loved the cake and coffee, and particularly enjoyed getting to pet the cats! The staff here are really friendly. If you're a cat lover you really need to go here. it's definitely worth it!
V. N.
Such sweet hosts, both the cats and the cat nannies. The place looks great, I felt at home right away. I loved that they take such good care of the cats. The only "downside" is that an hour there goes so fast, it felt like five minutes.
J. C.
Great experience - the hour flew by! Cats were beautiful and friendly. Wanted refreshments but the hour didn't last long enough as we didn't want to have to sit away from them just for a drink and waste the time. Perhaps if this was a different area, people could stay for a drink after their hour with the cats while a new group are in.
A. G.
Lovely moggies - worth a visit though I'm not sure I would go back. Thought they might have been a bit more friendly but mostly lying sleeping sadly, such is the way of living creatures. Entry is £10 a head for an hour (including kids ages 10-16) but I think there should be a concessionary price for kids. Parking is awful.
J. w.
Do you like cute cats? Do you like coffee and cake? This is the place for you. The cat nannies are friendly. The cats can be a little sleepy but they are cats after all 😀 Jacques was my fave. thoroughly enjoyed.
E. M.
Absolutely love Maison de Moggy! If you like spending time around cats, eating yummy baked goods then this is the place for you. I've visited a couple of times and would happily go back again and again. The cats are gorgeous, the food is good and the staff are friendly. A must visit for cat lovers while in the Capital!
R. C.
Cutest cats ever. What more do I have to say ? 🐱🐈
C. C.
This place is a must see when visiting Edinburgh! The staff were amazing, super friendly and easy going.
The cats were a great mix of sleepy, playful and just the best.
I would 100% recommend booking a spot to visit them at the next chance you get.
L. k.
A very good experience, the cats are very well treaten by the owners (which is always important when doing business with animals) and seem to live a good life. The place is very well done, they tried to keep the comfort of the clients high while also creating very nice structure where the cats could sleep and play. Still I noticed that some clients are not completely following the rules and annoy sleeping cats or make flash pictures to them, but this is not really the owner's fault.
The place is quite clean to have so many cats living inside, still that means that it's not too much clean in normal standards.
I also think that the price to just be inside there is a bit too high, but I guess they have a lot of requests and by doing this they can keep a cap on how many people gets inside, which, again, is good for the cats.
Tl:Dr nice place, cats well treaten, price a little high, quite clean
A. B.
The people here are super nice and the hot chocolate is good but overpriced. The cats were super well cared for, so they did not care about getting any attention at all. While I'm glad that they treat the cats so well I would probably skip this place and next time go to a (free) cat shelter if I wanted to play with cats.
K. A.
Lovely place to visit, there's a nice range of cakes and drinks in the cafe area (the cats do not have access to the food preparation area) and when I've visited the cats have had a range of personalities (I enjoy the more playful characters but there's also ones that will enjoy sitting with you and being petted). The hour time slot allows plenty of time for having something from the cafe and meeting the cats. Cat nannies are on hand to ensure the cats' welfare is not compromised and the cats have a private area that guests cannot access if they don't want to socialise.
B. G.
Amazing experience. Staff were so friendly and accommodating
A. K.
Friendly place, coffee and snacks offered for reasonable prices. Unfortunately the cats seemed very lazy and not happy so not sure if I would recommend this for people who want to play with the cats or the ones who are always purring on your legs.
C. W.
It's alright, but not great. The staff are nice enough, there is half decent food and drink, but the whole thing was a bit disapointing.
The cats are disinterested in people and just want to sleep. I get it, they're cats, and that's kind of what they do. But for them not to purr, not to play with toys, and to show barely any interest in people at all? I don't know. Maybe they are sick of being bothered by so many different people, day after day. Is that exploitation? Maybe visit and decide for yourself. I won't be going back though.
V. B. P.
My boyfriend and I had a very lovely time here. The staff was very nice and professional, they even gave us some advice for our stressful cat.
The cats were adorable and spoiled with love. I definitely recommend this place and when we ever going back to Edinburgh we will go here again.
C. C.
Lovely environment, kind and informative staff with lots of knowledge on the cats they keep and each ones temprement with people. Elodie is the star of the show for me shes such a rascal. Food is tasty the raspberry and white chocolate cake was brilliant and the coffee is tasty. Would go back again for all the merch.
N. M.
Went here for the first time with my fiance and his mum for her birthday. We all loved it. It was so relaxing and it was great to meet all the cats. We enjoyed our drinks and I personally would love to go again 🐱☺️
P. R.
Prebooking through the website is required as you get a really personal experience when you visit. Only a few people are allowed in at once as to not bother the cats too much. All cats were happy and well looked after, they wanted for nothing! The food was great too, vegan and gluten-free options are available. I'll be bringing my mates next time to meet Elodie and friends!
K. S.
I love MDM! Staff are lovely, always willing to talk about the cats and play with them. Plenty of places for them to hide away and escape from poking and prodding, as well as several rules in place to keep them safe and happy. Food and drinks are always lovely, especially since a lot of it is GF and vegan- lovely to see them making the effort and it still tasting amazing! All 12 cats are happy and healthy and I love visiting when I can. 10/10 place! :)
D. S.
Clean and quiet. Cats have plenty of places to climb, play, and hide. Staff keep an eye to make sure humans interact nicely with the felines. Lots of different cats to enjoy.
There is a good range of teas and coffees.
Do book ahead as they limit the number of customers.
L. S.
If you a cat person and love cats you definitely need to visit this place. Loved every second of it!
J. U.
My wife and I were SOOO comfortable here. The cat family is adorable, and the owners are extremely friendly, accommodating, and professional. The sessions are short, but you'll have a great time and never want to leave!
u. n.
I love visiting this cat cafe. The cats are really sweet and funny and I like the hot chocolate and brownie. They also have a loyalty card system where you can collect stamps after each visit and get a free drink, cake and eventually a free visit to the cafe.
V. “.
Loved it. Very cute little place. My 12 year old daughter was in her element
N.
We have been here two times and we enjoyed every minute of it. Relaxed atmosphere and very beautiful cats. You can have a nice cup of tea or coffee there with cake.
C. J.
This is such an amazing idea!! I walked past on my way to my hotel and I just had to come back later to go inside! You get an hour with the cats for £7, and it's totally worth it! Spending time with the cats was truly therapeutic. The cakes were delicious and the staff was so friendly!! So glad I decided to come back! 😊
A. C.
Niche idea, depends on what you are looking for and what your expecting, the girl running it and the other girls supporting her were all approachable and knew about the cats and genuinely seemed to care for them which is a big plus in my book, it was busy on the weekend but I can imagine it being a more chilled out affair during the week, the cats are extremely chilled and appear to be well looked after. If your looking for quiet time go during the week,if your going at the weekend booking is a must, they do sell tea coffe and a nice selections of cakes and I think some food, the place was clean and well kept
A. Y.
Lovely cat cafe...quite pricy and cats sometimes are a bit lazy but still great fun and the coffee is surprisingly good!
L. S.
Lovely quiet hour away from the bustle. Cats are incredibly calm and well looked after
T. M.
Lovely staff and service, great food and drinks and best of all lovely, well looked after and happy cats 😍😍 definitely visit here when you visit Edinburgh 😍
K. B.
Lovely hour seeing the cats. Coffee and cake was nice too
L. L.
Great cat café where the cats are a priority. We feel like we enter the cats house and we have to follow rules for their well being. The staff is really nice, the food is good and the cats are adorable! I'll come back next time I'm in Edinburgh 😊
B. C.
Lovely place, the cats were sweet and calm and the atmosphere was of absolute relax.
The chai tea was really good and the brownies were delicious.
Remember to book before going there, is very important.
L. 2.
A purr- fect place, with loads of cute, furry cats!
P. W.
It was such a lovely calming experience with chilled out cats. Sure, some were sleeping but that is what they do most of the day. The cats who were awake were friendly and happy to be stroked
P. D.
A must visit if you love cats! Entrance 8£ for one hour. Make sure you prebook your visit, this place is popular and they only have a limited amount of visitors per hour. While inside you can order beverage or cake and of course play with he amazing cats.
There are different breeds of cats, when we were there we saw a sphynx, Persian, ragdolls, bengal to mention some. Great experience!
J. B.
Lovely tea and cake attention, cats were amusing and very sweet, a real place for cat lovers, if you like to play with cats and don't mind the odd cat head in your mug of coffee, it is fab!
М. У.
The idea is awesome. It would have been better if the cats were more playful. So it depends at what time of the day you go for their mood. When we went there most of the cats were sleeping and the others were hiding. The entrance fee is a bit pricey.
J. P.
Highlight of our trip to Edinburgh says My Daughter
A. S.
Lovely place, friendly staff, beautiful cats! I'll be back!
R. M.
I feel like I'm being terribly harsh here, but I suppose I've got to be honest despite how cute the cats are... and don't get me wrong, they are (very) cute.
The cafe is really nicely decorated and super clean (which is a major feat considering they have hairy felines everywhere) with lots of cubby holes and bits for the cats to climb on, including shelves around the edges of the room, etc. The staff are all extremely helpful and pleasant, and the tea and carrot cake I had was decent.
My girlfriend and I visited Maison de Moggy on a very hot afternoon in August and I think this really affected the experience. The cats were very lethargic, with most lying around wanting to do nothing but sleep (yes, I know cats like nothing better than sleeping and lazing, but this was on a grand scale). I'm not expecting or wanting cats crawling and jumping all over me, but I did expect a little more activity from them.
There were nine cats when we visited, all of very different personalities and types. Nine is a very decent number, however as I said, most weren't particularly interested in any human interaction and I don't want to force the cats to interact with me, and nor should I (or anyone). This meant that the three or so cats that were bothered got most of the attention from the customers and it felt a bit strange.
My girlfriend and I are definitely going to go back, but my advice would be to visit on a colder day, or in the colder months when the cats might want to play a bit more.
L. R.
Only 5 pounds if you're a student - well worth the visit. The cats are gorgeous and it's a great place to relax and destress with some stunning felines beside you.
C.
One of the best cat cafe's I've been to. There are loads of cats of different breeds, each with their own personalities and temperaments. It's a wonderful place to go and relax for an hour surrounded by cats.
S. L. (.
A cat cafe! Booking at weekend essential - online only. You get a visit for an hour - can have tea/coffee/cake (we opted for mint tea).
Cats are all around and about and you get to stroke/pet etc. There are quite strict rules but it's definitely worth a visit if you love cats, cute and unusual things to do.
L. S.
Super laid back, welcoming atmosphere (facilitated by the cats, décor and staff). Can't explain how amazing the novel experience is of playing with a big fluffy Mog and sipping on some luxury hot chocolate. Well worth the slight effort required to book a timeslot.
C. M.
Lovely Cats and very nice cat nannies🥰
K. L.
Each of these cats is too good for you. They want nothing to do with you, and will withhold their love like a distant father figure. So basically they're as catlike as cats can get. Also, the muffins are delicious. Five stars.
K. R.
Fab place! The nannies are so sweet, and know the cats so unbelievably well! The cats are all super duper friendly, and so happy to be around people! Can't wait to go back!
F. M.
A great wee cafe and nice relaxing atmosphere for all of the cats, the hour flew bye and everyone seemed to enjoy the coffee and feline company
O. L.
Cats cats cats!!! Some are sleepy and moody but they are cats. Some are lovely and some just want your cake. Great place and very relaxing atmosphere. Food and drink was nice too.
T. M.
Had a lovely experience here. £7 each, we didn't eat or drink inside and you are not put under pressure to have anything. The cats are fairly ambivalent to human company so don't expect to be picking them up or have them sitting on your lap.
S. W.
A must visit for cat lovers! A very relaxing cat cafe with lovely staff, nice cakes and a wide selection of teas and coffee. Book online in advance to guarantee entry for your desired date and time slot
A. E.
OMG! I had so much fun here! If you love cats... It's the place to go! I was on a long vacation and missing my cats. I got to meet some new kitties and pet them all. You won't be disappointed.
J. G.
This is one of the best things in Edinburgh.
S. C.
Visited in the previous location in Stockbridge and pleased to see its just as delightful in its new home just off the Grassmarket. Book and pay online for an hour slot, then arrive, listen to the minimal rules, take off your shoes and enjoy! There are tea and cakes available although no obligation to buy - and cake eating may lead to additional attention from a couple of characters! The cats are beautiful, laid back and well cared for and will both come to you and let you lavish your attention on them.
L. B.
This is a brilliant cafe and a great idea. There are cats roaming around and toys for you to play with the cats. You can get teas and coffees and cakes.
You do have to pay an entrance fee but it pays for the cats so it's worth it.
L. W.
The cats and the staff were lovely, the brownies were delicious and I didn't think it was too crowded at all. You have to book a slot in advance to prevent just that. Of course you can get bad luck and be sceduled with unpleasant people, but that's really the worst case scenario and hardly the Cafés fault. Totally would visit again!
G.
Great place but the floor didn’t feel clean, kept shoes on and used the shoe covers
D. W.
Lovely setting, beautiful cats and very friendly staff (cat nannies!).
Drinks and cakes etc...are available and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back, a cat lovers paradise!
G. C.
We loved it The reason I gave only 4 stars because it is only 1 hour booking slot and I felt we were rushing and not much time to enjoy our feline friends
Z. T.
If you're a kitty fan, then do go and have an hour in cat paradise. All the staff are highly passionate about their trade. Oh, and cake. There's delicious cakes!
C. B.
The most beautiful and best cat coffee I have ever visited. The staff is very friendly, the coffee delicious and the cats are very adorable and cuddly. Always worth a visit.
K. R.
This is our 3rd visit and have nothing but praise for the place. The cats are well looked after and never forced to be somewhere they don't want to be therefore you may find that some are sleeping or hiding through in their own area out the back. Just watch out for the cake thieves!!!
R. H.
Love it. Great atmosphere. Cats are lovely. Allowed to do their own thing. Cakes and drinks are reasonably priced and taste good.
P. C.
Loved my visit. Most of the cats were sleeping, and not fazed by the visitors. Pauline the Maine Coon was lovely, tea and cake delish.
S.
Absolutely lovely place. The staff and the cats were friendly and more than accommodating. Cakes were delicious and we didn't want to leave
J. P.
The cats are beautiful and friendly. The visit was so relaxing. My favourites are Elodie and Sebastian. If you love cats this place is well worth a visit.
P. H.
Amazing spot to go while on holiday if you're missing your animals. Spotless, cats are clearly well looked after & loved. A special cafe experience
M. S.
A bunch of happy cats in a well-ventilated cafe. They have an extensive tea menu and great homemade cake (but watch out for thieving cats!) Visit in the morning when the cats are more lively.
C. D.
Love it here! Delicious cakes and lattes and to top it off beautiful cats! Elodie is my personal favourite with Sebastian a close second. The hour goes in so quickly.
R. S.
Lovely hour spent with moggies and delicious cake.
L. B.
Such a relaxed atmosphere. cats are beautiful and friendly, staff helpful and informative about each cat and there characters. I would highly recommend
J. S.
A great way to spend an hour, drinking tea and chilling with lovely great natured cats.
K. T.
Absolutely brilliant, the staff were lovely, friendly and knowledgeable, the coffee and cake was yummy but best of all, the cats were amazing, especially Elodie who was adamant she wanted some of my cake and would stop at nothing to get her tiny paws on it!
W. D.
I hate cats, but my other half loves them.
She seemed to enjoy the place.
Would be 5 stars, but in my opinion it's a bit over priced.
a. k.
The calmest and friendliest place with the best kitties ever, also their cakes are soo good
E. M.
gorgeous cafe to spend time with girgeous cats, they have a huge range of various breeds from maine coone, ragdoll and sphynx. all super friendly cats and well priced food and coffee inside.
D. A.
Visiting from Canada and we needed a cat fix! The cats are so well cared for and we had some lovely tea and cake! Watch those little rascals, they try and steal your food (I had my cake well out of reach (no sick kitties on my watch) 😊
G. C.
Loved this place, cats are very well looked after and the rules are explained very clearly. The cats are just too cute especially Elodie the sphinx cat. Also the coffee isn't half bad either!
H. S.
Visit Maison de Moggy everytime we are in Edinburgh. The cats are all gorgeous pedigrees who are very well looked after and interact happily with the customers. The staff are very friendly. Lovely selection of teas, coffees and cakes too.
J. G.
The cats were lovely, staff were very nice and helpful and the food wasn't bad either! Would definitely go again. :)
H. K.
Lovely cats, love cafe and lovely staff
N. Y.
Edinburgh's cat cafe is definitely the place to visit if you're missing your feline friends back home. Such a good time with the kitties!
A. W.
I thought it was over priced in all departments , entry £8 drinks and cakes expensive.
Better looking in the windows.
Also numerous people turned around when the price was seen.
I must admit it was fully booked for the day so lots of people must enjoy it,
I would like to know how many people return for a second visit.
K. P.
Fantastic concept. It's a cat cafe that is set up so well. I had the best time there with adorable cats. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The moggies are of course the stars!
A. H.
We were there 45 mins before we got our tea. But the cats though sleepy were happy and a good temperament, with plenty to keep them occupied full time.
M. B.
The cats are so friendly and the staff are so lovely and helpful, the wee cakes are sooooo good! It's worth a visit just to chill in a cosy place for an hour
J. S.
Had a great laugh enjoying a coffee and cake surrounded by loads of rare breed cats. They were all super docile and uninterested in humans to the point that they were a bit boring to interact with but I enjoyed watching them all lounging about nonetheless!
K. D.
Fantastic wee cafe. Enjoy a lovely cuppa and cake whilst getting to spend time with the cats. Staff are lovely and friendly.
E. J.
I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said. I only wish I lived closer so I could pop round for lunch everyday!
R. J.
It was a clean & tidy place. Staff were nice. There were lots of toys for the kitty cats, cool places to chill & hide for the cats. Prices not expensive.
A. W. S.
Cats were friendly and Elodie (cat) was fully of personality! Cat nannies were enthusiastic and friendly towards everyone. Amazing place!
A. B.
Great to meet all the cats who were purrfect hosts! Lovely tea and cake and a really relaxing way to spend an hour.
J. G.
Really friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful cats. Amazing gluten free, vegan chocolate cake.
R. F.
A cosy and beautiful place full of cats. The people there are also very friendly and the desserts are very good. If you love cats you need to visit this place.
A. A.
The cakes and coffee are nice. The cats are nicer! Would recommend a reservation to avoid disappointment. It was an hour well-spent.
H. S.
Great place, beautiful cats and lovely staff! Great place for friends, family, date! If you're unsure about going then do it! Unless you don't like cats!
S. D.
The cats are adorable and the dessert is delicious. Just wish there was a bit more space/smaller groups per session so you'd get to play with the cats more
j. c.
Cool atmosphere with the most chilled out cats you ever see.
c. b.
Been last friday to the cat cafe and it was a awesome time i really enjoy it. Friendly staff and was able to pet and play with the cats, i had a great drink there, i really looking forward to return back so next time i will be back in edinburgh it will be on my list
W. F.
First time going to a cat café, it was all very crazy to start with, but it was very enjoyable. The hour went so fast!
You may have to book online, since it does get booked up.
R. B.
Edinburgh's premium cat cafe with the cutest cats around and delicious desserts you to treat yourself. A must see for all car lovers!
K. W.
Good place for cat lover! Nice and friendly staff. Just walk down from Grassmarket and the shop the at your right hand side.
The lady staff will brief you very clear before you get in the cat cafe.

Great little place with the cutest cats and lovely cat nannies. The food was surprisingly good and the cats behaviour was superb. I would definitely recommend this place!
C. M.
Beautiful cats and friendly staff, well woeth a visit. At full capacity the room feels a little crowded though. Watch out for people with obnoxiously big cameras.
S. M.
A great place to visit for all cat lovers.
J. G.
Three words. OH MY GOD. This place is heaven. You cannot go wrong - unless you're not fan of cats and even then you will be turned - if you're in need of some therapy after long hours of studying, if you want a break from work, or even for a 1st date... This place is brilliant!
Z. Z.

Beautifully maintained, Clean and friendly. Our little one (age 11) who is a cat fan had a brilliant time
P. O.
Cats are undeniably gorgeous, but the cafe itself is rather bland. Lacks atmosphere when the moggies are inevitably asleep.
S. M.
Had a nice coffee there surrounded by cats. The place has very clear rules which ensure that both the visitors and the cats are happy.
B. S.
Lovely place Lovely staff and lovely cats 🐈 😻
