Great café! I wish I knew about this place earlier. The owner is a real character. Such a relief to meet someone who jokes and tells stories, rather than just saying the same boring sentences in order to please the costumer. We had some interesting conversations and I got to try some great foods and nice coffee.

Good coffee and food and you can even do laundry there! The owner will talk your ear off about Scottish History. When I told him I was from California, he’s like “Did ya know John Muir was a Scotsman!?” Highly recommended for the visiting tourist.

Doggies on the sofa at the enterence and vegan food! This place is a delight. Perfect for studying in with a nice long table and friendly staff. The dogs are very well behaved and lay on the sofa at the front the whole time quietly. They have a gorgeous choice of Spanish coffee, I went straight for the barraquito, made with stong coffee, liquor and condensed milk. It will wake you up and knock you out at the same time- totally worth it! There's no vegan option for this drink though there are vegan drinks and milks on the menu as I've never found vegan condensed milk before either.

I've had a lovely lunch with my friends: a super tasty potatoe&leek soup and a delicious Vegan Stew. As a dessert, I had the best Hot Choc in Edinburgh. There's is such a lovely and warm atmosphere.

Very nice food but the quiet lunch helping my friend with some tough times was messed up by the owner who decided to try to rant about Brexit (I have an English accent although I am not English), Scottish independence (see above), vegans (not sure why) and generally try to provoke us into banter. I've been before and had a nice lunch, and the value and quality were fine, but we are both put off returning because of the hospitality. Also, please don't touch customers' bags, it's not acceptable in the current circumstances.

Great cafe with awesome coffee, a fantastic chap who runs the place, and you can get your laundry washed and dried too! Loads of teas to choose from and the food options looked great too. Would highly recommend for a little time out and maybe even longer if you fancy playing a board game as there are several available for customers to use 😃

I really love this gem of a place. Its brick walls and long wooden benches give the place a rustic, homely feel to it. And it is bright and spacious. It's quite an unusual outfit in that it's a bit of a hybrid...they stock organic, healthy foods and Wholefoods, but it's also a cafe! I haven't tried their food (as I was in a bit of a rush at the time). But I have tried their latte, and I have to say I think it's probably one of the best lattes I've had! The owner of the shop was also very friendly and welcoming. What more could you want? :-)

Great food. Great friends. Great feel. We could begin with that, the Kafe may be the ultimate anti- Starbucks, hole in the wall. Not the overwhelming, crowded, take a number feeling you sometimes get at the corporate cafes. Here local legend Graham, and his son Finlay, are at the helm of this young upstart, and so,far so good. A wonderful, and expertly crafted menu of coffees, Lattes, & cappuccinos are served up, along with juices, smoothies, and a light fare of sandwiches, soups,& snacks. The homemade soups are especially tasty, the Mixed vegetable and red lentil, was spot on. Also available at the very warm, soft brick, with rich leather furnishings, is a nice wide assortment of natural food products. As well as some packaged coffee and tea for takeaway. They may be up against some of the big boys in the business, but these local boys are off to a fine start. Join them for a nice coffee, and a tasty treat, you'll be glad you did.

It's a local stylish family business ran by a very sweet and hilarious man and his super model son! :) you have to love this cafe!! We love coming here when we feel happy or feel down.. I ate here today and the experience was amazing. I was only looking for a quick bite to eat before I went to a meeting, and as an international student I am looking to find local small scale restaurants. I was absolutely blown away by the very kind staff, the man working behind the register who took my order specifically. I told him I was an international student and he even recommended some events to take part in to become acclimated to the city. I suppose more importantly, in terms of a restaurant, the food was astounding. I tried their meal of the day, a chili chicken salad. Probably one of the best, if not the best salad I have ever had, and definitely one of the best meals I have had in Edinburgh. All for a little under 5 pounds, I was absolutely blown away. The portions were big, the meal was creative and well done. I can absolutely see myself becoming a regular here. The overall vibe I received was very friendly and welcoming. I'm excited to go back and try another meal of the day.

I was there as part of my visit in Scotland and it sure made it to the top of my list out of all the Cafés I've been to in Britain. Seriously. The atmosphere is great. So calm and relaxing…and the people in the staff are just the nicest people in Edinburgh! Plus, the coffee is just superb- I started each morning of my staying with their delicious Latte and took a smoothie on my way out, just couldn't resist it. Moreover, the food is just amazing, I love eating foods which I know that are healthy, fresh and notorious for my body. Love this place and will recommend it for anyone! Had a very relaxing time doing laundry and work. A real boon to find such a place in the midst of a long trip--welcoming owner, with a father you can use as a whetstone for your wit since he clearly enjoys taking the piss. (Make sure you don't come across as a "thicko"!) Lunch prices very reasonable, laundry more dear, but worth it for the convenience!

Natural Foods Kafe is a warm, welcoming, and laid back cafe near the University of Edinburgh with delicious food and drinks for great prices! Finlay, the owner, and his dad, 'Mr. Fantastic', are friendly and full of advice about salsa dancing around the city. I am a coffee lover. Been in Edinburgh for a year and have tried many cafes around the city. This is one of my top two favorites in Edinburgh! Plus, the owners are very nice! :)

A lot of people complaining about the owner being a racist and the devil incarnate , apparently don't understand what real racism is. Then again that's modern society looking at neutering petty offences and showing off about them on social media. This would just be another boring middle class cafe for the health conscious brigade of Edinburgh , were it not for the entertaining character of the owner. They have more herbal teas then you fill a green house shelf with and for a coffee or tea its a perfect place its fine. I've never seen so many brands of Yogi tea as I have when coming into this place. Granted the owner might not be to everyone's taste but the bloke should be a local legend by now not to mention his championing of the arts , every year they stage free fringe shows down in the basement , have what looks like the united nation in and even let them wait in the cafe section without pressing for a buy. Does not sound like a racist or a aggressive business owner to me , in fact sounds like a bloke who cares about his city. What happened to people just using the exit if they are offended by someone I can't understand why people would wait around and give him their time and money if he was not to their taste or he was chatting rubbish to them , two words and a quick turn would end their plight. I have lived and worked over in England and had to put up with worse remarks then some of the English customers on here used to accuse him of being a racist. I have never had any issue with the owner in the half dozen times I have been here granted perhaps I was not the right target or just caught him on a good day , but I can only take as I find. In fact I only like to be served by the owner since the rest of the staff are pretty grumpy looking. This man and his business are a breath of fresh air in a street dominated by sour faced business owners and a lot who can barely answer a simple enquiry in English nevermind Scotch. I've experience much more rudeness in other Edinburgh shops usually where the owner or worker thinks they can get away with it because they are from another country or talk badly about the clients in their native tongue. People need to wake up to the fact that this is what small business's are independently owned and controlled entities run by real people not an Apple PC doctrine. I think the reason this old guy has got so many negative reviews and provoked such anger from the Edinburgh clique , is the fact that he is the rare thing in a Clerk Street business owner , apparently a Scottish Working class guy running a local business in a age of gentrification and vanilla behaviour. I'd much rather deal with the owners bluntness and Alf Garnet with a left leaning kilt then the usual stuck up or grubby service you get in other Edinburgh business's most of the time. The man's unique and natural character should be enjoyed and appreciated before the PC Police take his away. Most shops and cafe's in this part of Edinburgh are staffed by bored rich kid's who just swear at you under their breath that's the future of the city.

Staying in Edinburgh for a few days on our 3 week Scotland vacation, and did a search for laundry facilities. Natural food kafe came up on our search, and we were excited that we could do laundry while we ate, wrote postcards, and caught up with friends using the wifi services. The laundry services are downstairs, so when you look in it doesn't look like your typical laundry facility (which is nice). Finlay was very helpful, and his Father helped us with everything we needed to get our chores done. I would recommend this to anyone looking for coffee, food, laundry, etc.
