Reviews of Project Coffee
M. S.
Excellent service, decent prices, great portions. I ordered the Project Breakfast and Earl Grey tea. It was my first time having haggis and I loved it, nothing like what I would except (it reminded me almost of a salty, meaty bulgar wheat). I loved the grilled tomato and small mushrooms, the bacon was thick cut and crisped and the toast was thick and multi-grain served with a tangy orange marmalade.
S. G.
We would like to thank the very kind customers and staff who came to the assistance of my Mother in Law yesterday who took a tumble on the street outside the Cafe - we are all very grateful to lovely customer Sam who called me and gentleman that sat with her until we arrived. Shes had a few stitches but otherwise fine! That you all so very much for your kindness.
K. J.
Nice interior and pleasant staff. Good coffee and excellent carrot cake.
J. W.
As I like strong black coffee it is my favourite place. Very tempted to have cake but declined. All cakes looked scrumptious
C. C.
Nice place, kind staff, and my smootie and roll were good, some more lower priced options on the menu would add to it I think, for when like us you are after a snack more then a full meal.
W. L. W.
Atmosphere - cosy, stylish, comfortable. Nice soft music playing, typical for a cafe.
Coffee - decent, but beans not as flavourful as some others I have tried. Latte full of bubbles.
Service - I had to wait for a while when I came in, but when I was seated it wasn't hard to get their attention if I needed anything else.
Price - reasonable, but a little pricier in comparison to other cafes in the area.
K. S.
First cafe I have stumbled upon in Edinburgh to do a good quality soy latte (thanks to having Bon Soy!) that allowed me to enjoy every sip!
E. v. D.
Amazing! I am not a local, so I just wandered around and found this gem. Great coffee! The onion chutney is amazing! In combination with the fresh bread and silky egg yolk, one of the best sandwiches I ever had. I'll make sure to visit when I come back!
D. C.
A lovely place and coffee is nice. Minimum cake and milk choices however there are options.
Staff are nice and it's somewhat comfortable to sit
J. M.
Latte was a bit on the cool side, my hot chocolate was hot, but not great... 6 out of 10. Strange seating.
E. H.
One of my all time favourite coffee shops in Edinburgh. The staff here are lovely, the coffee is amazing and the food is delicious (especially the Avo on Toast and the Brownie). It’s my go to place for a morning coffee before University!
O. T.
Good food, great coffee. Simple, friendly, 10/10
C. A.
This place is a gem. Located in a urban area of Edinburgh, well away from the bustle. The street is kept close to its original form lending a provincial feel to the city thoroughfare. We loved this neighborhood and Project coffee is stand out cafe.
A. R.
Wonderful little coffee shop, really nice coffee and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The decaff blend is spectacular.
E. R.
Good coffee, good vibes, but it's always packed and can be really hard to find a seat, even on a weekday.
M. B.
The decor is honestly fantastic aesthetic. Lights, Xmas vibes and couches to sit and study at. No WiFi tho but u had my 4G. Only bad point is that the coffee was bland, the roast tasted very different from other cafes.
E. L.
Amaaaaazingly creamy coffee and a great selection of tasty brunch-like foods
A. S.
Nice atmosphere. The egg was not done as I wanted and the scone was very dry. Otherwise all good!
R. B.
If I could move in to Project coffee, I would! Sister store of Wellington Coffee, you can find the same superb coffee & scones (with. Clotted. Cream!!) as well as breakfast items. Soft couches and window seats, once you visit you’ll never want to leave ☕️❤️
E. P.
Very cool place to have something to drink. Food is fresh and tasty. No wifi and usually it's very busy
A.
Dog-friendly coffee shop in bruntsfield!
Being near bruntsfield links, it is nice to know there is a great coffee shop that allows dogs too. Me and a friend stopped for a coffee which were great and offered alterative milk substitutes. The staff were very friendly here!
M. T.
Really great coffee, tasty and strong. The date scone was excellent as well and the atmosphere and service inside the cafe was great.
D. P.
Great Coffe, delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones and friendly staff. Can really recommend.
T. M.
Always try to visit Project when in Edinburgh. Carrot & coriander fritters with haloumi and poached egg is one of the best combos I've eaten in months. Staff are always really sweet too.
B. J.
I like this cafe! But coffee is so so. The atmosphere is excellent! Would visit again! No wifi!!!!!!!
K. G.
Food, coffee and ambience is lovely. Beautifully decorated (christmas decs). Service was a little slow but soon apologised
N. V.
Great coffee, good cake selection. The staff is nice and helpful.
There's outdoor seating but usually full. Lots of space inside
E. M.
Lovely interiors. Oat milk available👌. Very nice bread used for toast and sandwiches. Good portion size as well. Recommended.
Y. H.
Veggie and carrot cake are good!
D. B.
Project Coffee serves great coffee, sourced from specialty roasters Square Mile that is always expertly brewed. The baked goods are tasty and fresh. The staff are friendly and helpful. This place has been a real lockdown lifesaver!
z.
very good scones!! Aand cozy atmosphere
A. C.
Great roast and a welcoming atmosphere. Space to catch up with friends over a perfect cuppa.
F.
Very relaxed atmosphere with pleasant staff and a good vibe. Food was lovely, vegetarian breakfast was great. Would definitely drop in again.
M. M.
Great coffee. Friendly and welcoming. Good ambiance.
C. P.
Great, as always! My favourite coffee place. Nice atmosphere, and seating outside when the weather is good. Coffee always spot on, with a good range of snacks. Staff are super efficient.
G. L.
Great coffee and excellent service.
A. K. H.
My favourite coffee place! Wonderful to watch people passing by the big front windows! Best mocha ever - especially if they top it with chocolate sprinkles. Almond croissant and veggie breakfast are highly recommendable too. The Orange juice is fraglich pressed.
c. L.
Best Brunch in the world ❤
A. M.
Staff were super friendly and coffee is really good! Would recommend.
A.
Always a great place to eat or simply have a quick coffee/tea or other hot drink. The staff are welcoming and efficient, the food is well presented and tasty. At times it is hard to find a seat but that speaks volumes about this place😉☺️
J. M.
I use this place regularly for take away (and to sit in before lockdown. They are always friendly, the coffee is good and the carrot cake is amazing! 😃
F. A.
Have had many an excellent full breakfast in here. The food is always a very high standard and the staff are always friendly. I'm not a coffee drinker myself but my partner tells me the coffee is also excellent. Very accommodating of dogs, a great place for us to take our puppy to get him used to being out and about!
H. C.
Good coffee from this perfectly placed Edinburgh chain. Great breakfast offerings all day long. Soup selection and sandwiches for lunch. Standard sweet counter of scones and treats. Love the fresh juice and speedy service
L. C.
Another one of my fave coffee shops in the EH10 area. Scones here are simply amazing. Sandwiches and breakfast are very good too. Both tea and coffee are good and I particularly like their soya milk cappuccino. It's often busy so make your way early for a table
E. B.
Great place. Love the grungy industrial feel. Brilliant loose leaf teas and amazing brownies.
Staff were efficient and friendly.
The exposed lights are great and there is a good amount of space with small circular tables.
Always busy in a good hubbub kind of way.
L. D.
I love this place! The interior and ambience is just lovely. Juicy scones and fine tuned sandwiches are great diantries for the delicious coffee. Take a seat on one of the high chairs and enjoy your meal. Always a pleasure to be here!
A. T.
Love everything! Location, excellent service and product quality!
K. C.
Good coffee, tea, a selection of pastries and scones. I didn't try the soup or lunch options, but they looked good. Staff pleasant and loos spotless. Watch out for very hot water at sink though!
M. R.
Fairly spacious cafe on Bruntsfield and considering there are quite a few coffee shops nearby, this place has managed to hold its own. They brew Red Brick espresso and there is a menu of cake, scones and full breakfasts etc. Haven't eaten here however.
L. E.
Really cool interior design and great coffee. It's always buzzing, but you can't book so you have to chance your luck. The breakfast is vast and good value. The freshly squeezed orange juice is good too.
C. B.
Excellent, especially the service and the place itself - has a great grungy, warm and sophisticated vibe. The breakfast–poached eggs–was delicious with lots of great locally-made bread. The coffee was good though not amazing. The people were really outstanding. Will definitely be coming past again.
A. R. (.
Nice place but on the higher end of the price scale
S. S.
Love love love Project Coffee! Always get a nice clean table, and you can sit as long as you want. Scones and coffee are superb. Staff are friendly. One of my favourite cafés.
B. B.
The staff here are so friendly and helpful with product knowledge. I came if for an espresso and Chemex coffee filters, I ended up learning tons about my new Chemex coffee maker. They're good for a quick brunch bite as well, very cozy.
A. G.
Nice coffee but they do not have a wide variety of cakes. They also do not have any gluten free or vegan options. I believe nowadays that should be a standard in most cafes. That causes me to only go there if everywhere else is full in Bruntsfield.
M. v. E.
Delicious tomato soup! Nice interior. Coffee and mocha are jummie! Friendly and humorous manly staff!
One of the ladies should put a smile on her face!
Too bad only that you have to order at the checkout.
A. W.
I stumbled across Project Coffee one Sunday afternoon and I have to say their carrot and coriander fritters with halloumi were absolutely delicious, one of the best breakfasts I've had. Trendy coffee shop with absolutely amazing coffee, staff were great and although their menu was small I believe their focus is more on quality not quantity.I was too full after my breakfast to eat any of the cakes that they had on offer however they looked absolutely amazing. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Bruntsfield already..for the cake this time!
R. L.
Really good coffee and a great brunch menu.
S.
Fantastic coffee, buy I would advise getting a take out. The seating crampt, the decor is just a bit weird and the staff should learn how to smile. Definitely worth getting a coffee though.
m. s.
Nice food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Outside seating is a bonus at sunny days.
C. M.
This is one of the best coffee shops in Bruntsfield so it's always bustling but if you're lucky enough to get a seat in the window, you can sit for hours people watching. The coffee is always delicious, the brownies are amazing and the veggie breakfast is really good too if you're looking for something filling.
J. M.
Food and coffee were good, but no high-chairs for infants. Had to hold our baby while taking it in turns to eat.
R. M.
Fantastic flat whites every time. They also have a beautiful array of tempting treats!
J. W.
Nice place for coffee, hot chocolate or brunch. The decor is a bit more shabby than chic, and could be improved a bit. I’ve been here a few times now, and there’s generally a nice atmosphere.
G. K.
Amazing eggs and flapjack! Perfect place for a Sunday brunch and the staff are always so lovely. 10/10 would recommend!
T. W.
Nice place. Friendly staff. Good selection of beverages and comestibles. Would probably give an extra star if the coffee wasn't a bit cold and thin.
W. S.
Recently refitted, it is now very smart. Lots of seats and tables in a limited space yet doesn't feel crowded. Very busy but well organised and friendly staff. And of course, the same delicious coffee and food.
A. C.
Busy popular place with nice decor. My americano was really expensive (more expensive than flat white?) and the food was okay, a little bland. Nice atmosphere but wouldn't hurry back.
H. C.
Project Coffee fits into the Bruntsfield scene perfectly! It serves great coffee and delicious lunches too! It's reasonably priced and always has a buzz about it. I haven't always found the staff friendly, but maybe that was a one off...hopefully.
T. M.
I love coming to this coffee shop as the food is delicious. Sadly it’s always very cramped and the staff does not really have time for you/ may not take down your order correctly.
N.
Very sophisticated cafe, lovely employees and service. If you're looking for a place to have a small gathering, I recommend you this one. Enjoy!!! :)
M. M.
A warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a large variety of cakes and beverages, very chic! Good location too. Shame the coffee machine wasn’t working though!
A. L.
Excellent ‘full Scottish’ breakfast here this morning. Quality ingredients, freshly cooked, prompt service. And toast and marmalade included. Can’t get better than that!
S. W.
Tasty food and coffee. Service was good, nothing out of the ordinary but pleasant enough. Allowed me to make a change to my dish which was nice of them!
S. M.
Nice coffee, which is important for anywhere with coffee in the name, and good people watching spot if sat outside
S.
Great coffee, excellent scones and nice people. Worth a visit, if not many visits.
m. s.
I like that the menu here is small. It's all about quality and not quantity. The coffee here is amazing and the chocolate brownies are to die for, honestly. Help yourself to a glass of chilled water and stay here for a chat or to study, but there's no wifi.
J. R.
It is very good at what they offer and they are always popular. There is also a good amount of room between the tables to keep people distanced.
R. G.
Great Chai Latte and good scones. It can get pretty full in there which is at least a good sign of a place serving good coffee. Staff was also polite and professional.
I. M.
Quite like this coffee place, but it never blows me away. It has a fairly limited range of cakes/biscuits and the coffee is OK, it just wouldn't be my first choice. Staff are friendly.
S. C.
Good coffee, reasonable prices and scones with cream and jam. Tick, tick and bonus tick. Really decent spot if a bit cold on the atmosphere, my companions provided that however...
D. M. (.
They forgot my order but the food and coffee were lovely
C. E.
Good atmosphere, good food, and friendly staff. The only downside was I didn't really enjoy the coffee that much. It was a little too bitter.
K. Y.
Very popular coffe shop so can be hard to get a seat at times. That's because the coffee is excellent and the food, especially the scones, is great.
B. W.
Best coffee in Edinburgh, food is top notch too, great pastries, scones to die for, excellent for breakfast and lunch. Always busy because its so good, getting a seat inside at the weekend is a lottery. I usually do take-away. Staff are friendly & helpful. No wi-fi.
O. S.
Kids hot chocolate 👏👏👏
G.
Thoroughly enjoy the coffee here! Although they don't accept cash which is just annoying...
R. A.
Really nice coffee shop, plenty of seats, very friendly staff and a nice menu of hot/cold drinks and brunch and lunch food as well, available all day long! Also this place is dog friendly which is a huge plus for me!
B. S.
Nice place. Friendly helpful staff.
Oat milk and soya milk available
Fresh scones still warm from the oven in the mornings.
No WiFi tho which is what I was after.
M. F.
Subway tiles, shiny espresso machine, brass tables - Project Coffee really knows how to be on trend. Located in Bruntsfield, this is a great place to relax in after a long walk. Whether it's a cafe mocha (made from real melted chocolate) or a bowl of hot red chicken thai soup you're after, PC is a safe and good choice. The only drawback is that the word on how good it is, is already out, so you may struggle to get a good table.
M. C.
A great way to kick start your morning on a particularly slow Sunday where one happens to be wearing their sunglasses to avoid the bright morning sun. I order - everytime I go there - a freshly squeezed orange juice, a latte and the project breakfast and it is always the best way to start the day. Make sure you get in early, it can be a tad busy.
E. M.
Lovely cafe in bruntsfield. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Only issue I feel is with the toilets. There was a cracked toilet seat when I used it. I really hope this can be fixed.
M. B.
Kilimanjaro is still the best, but the staff were lovely. Scrambled eggs on toast every time ❤
L. M.
Charming little cafe with great flat whites and delicious brunch options. I had the Veggie brunch and it was enough for two of us. Super tasty.
d. c.
Excellent,made very welcome
M. P.
Amazing! The food is remarkable, coffee is amazing and the staff are great. 10/10 would come here again and again and recommend to a friend.
J. P.
Charming popular cafe. A bit crowded, but other customers are as friendly as the staff, so sharing tables is de rigueur. I can recommend the scrambled eggs!
E.
Can only ask myself why I didn’t come here sooner living so close. Loved the coffee.
A. G.
The coffee quality is top notch, and the cakes etc are good value, but not quite 5 star as the atmosphere doesn't quite work for me, probably just personal quirk
L. G.
Project coffee is always a winner. The quality of the food and drink is always faultless. It would just be nice to see a bit of variation in the food they offer from time to time.
A. R.
Perfect weekend brunch. I had the veggie breakfast and freshly squeezed orange juice. It was all amazing and huge portion.
L. A.
Great tasting coffee, little on the pricey side
A. T.
A cute place. Despite it being quite busy when we went, the staff were really attentive.
R. C.
Great coffee, reminds me a lot of New York coffee shops

N. J.
Excellent range of coffees and beverages. Great food including all day breakfasts. Has a cosy feel.
C. G.
The best soya hot chocolate I've had in Edinburgh. Scones are like clouds, the scrambled eggs are plentiful and fluffy.
B. d. w.
Constant great quality coffee, and the scones are absolutely amazing!
s.
Great independent coffee shop, the soup is a perfect lunch and the coffee a definite notch above the usual large chain places.
D. J.
Nice little coffee house with a good selection of food. Had a scone last time I was there and it was excellent!
A. T.
Nice spot, good coffee and juices, friendly service and fair price for this neck of woods. Would go back.
J.
Amazing coffee (square mile), good buzz and vibe. Food was fresh with generous portions and very tasty.
R. F.
Nice drinks, great location, and small area of outdoor seating which is a nice touch and not common in Edinburgh!
K. M.
Fab coffee, delicious cheese and jalapeno scone and a warm welcome from the staff!
N. F.
Great coffee- I ordered a flat white. Their scones are enormous and delicious!
G. l.
Fantastic coffee! Very good indeed plus a nice atmosphere.... Sadly stunk of bacon not coffee :-(
A. P. F.
Friendly, cheerful staff, and good service and food.
A. L.
Great local coffee shop, really good food - try their eggs on toast! - coffee nice but strong!
G. D.
VERY busy but great coffee courtesy of Red Brick!
Lovely scones too.
J. B.
Not the largest but a really tasty breakfast, wait time not long for table service, busy place so be prepared to go elsewhere if wanting to sit in, hangout for students with parents buying, nice place to read books and people watch, no high chairs for kids but staff very helpful
J. D.
Best coffee shop in the area. The scones are spectacular. But sssh. It's already busy enough
P. V.
Absolutely brilliant breakfasts. The staff are always very accommodating and are happy to alter dishes due to dietary requirements.
