Who would have guess haggis can be this tasty??? I was honestly blown away! This place is really wonderful, the staff was friendly, the food excellent! The terrace is situated in a very Edinburgh-like upper walkway, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view. It's a must-try during your Edinburgh visit!!

Fabulous breakfast! We were welcomed by great staff and they accomodated us without having a booking for breakfast. The breakfast menu is really good and the Scott's Benny was great. One of the best cappuccino's ever had in the UK (Italian critique!) Warmth of the staff made the experience really pleasant!

Really nice breakfast, one of the best haggis I've tried in town. The location on a sunny day is absolutely wonderful. On a very busy morning the staff really did their best to accommodate our small party with: no reservations, 1 dog, 1 wheelchair and 1 baby in her stroller!! Accessibility is ok for low mobility customers, you have to ask for the ramp and the turn to make it to the accessible toilet is pretty narrow so bulky wheelchair users might struggle. I'd be keen to try their lunch or dinner menu next and see if it holds up to their sumptuous breakfast!

My partner and I went on a road trip to Edinburgh and we could not find a table on a restaurant we wanted to visit so we ended up on Scotts Kitchen... twice! Our lunch was so good that we decided to ask for the bill and a booking to try the breakfast menu the next day. Our waiter was Paul and he was brilliant (and there was another blond waiter whose name i do not remember who was amazing as well). The atmosphere was so friendly, cozy, easy-going and the food was superb in quality and quantity. The whole team is following safety precautions against the COVID-19. They wear masks at all times, applied one way system in the restaurant and wash their hands regularly. We ate confidently and secure. We recommend 100%. They definitely made our experience in Edinburgh even better. From the bottom of our hearts, thanks so much to all the team on Scotts Kitchen and specially Paul and his patience with me on my experience trying haggis.

I don't know if it was due to the holiday weekend but we didn't share the enthusiasm over Scotts. Service was quite lethargic. Fresh orange juice did not mean "freshly squeezed" - it appeared to be from a bottle which I only spotted in the fridge afterwards. The baked beans in the fry were inedible. Eggs Benedict and coffee were okay. Overall we had better brunches in Edinburgh and were very disappointed with this one.

I asked for breakfast for me only, without a reservation. I got a table outside in the morningsun. Great! I ordered veggie breakfast, cappu and juice fres pressed. Service and breakfast were excellent!!! During my time there not less than 30 people walk by and asked for breakfast, too. Due they were fully booked those people had no chance, but me. I was in time there and had luck. Thank you!!! :)

Me and my other half popped in for breakfast this morning Staff are super helpful and the food is delicious, had a full Scottish breakfast with haggis and black pudding, washed it down with a great latte coffee. Definitely my favourite spot for breakfast. Staff have implemented good covid19 measures to keep everybody safe so felt at ease here. Highly recommended. 👍

I absolutely LOVE this place. I stayed in Edinburgh for 5 days and I think I ate here 4 of them for breakfast haha. I bought a friend with and she was instantly obsessed as well. I think she got poached eggs, avocado and toast both days. Their ham Scotts Benedict is amazing. Best hollandaise sauce. I asked for a side of haggis one day to try it and it came out instead of the ham, but turns out that was delicious too. They still brought me the ham though so I ended up with both. I got the porridge which was a large portion and filled me up until dinner somehow. The carrot cake might actually be the best I've had. I even tried the veggie haggis and some neeps- also good though I think I'm not a fan of turnips. Also, the people are always friendly and the bathrooms are modern and spotless, which is a nice break from hostels lol. You can sit outside on a nice day and people watch on Victoria St (aka diagon alley). Tours will occasionally walk by or stop on either side of the terrace outside. I found it to be very reasonable considering the portions and the quality. Try it if you're in Edinburgh!

We had a lovely breakfast for a reasonable price. Definitely recommended when you're in town. Note: if you are using Google maps the restaurant is located on the terrace above the street. You need to take a small set of stairs.

Came here for a later lunch with my 4 year old and husband yesterday. Had the best food we have eaten in a while. The casserole was particularly good and was given bread to moo up the gravy with after which isn't usually my thing but it was so good I felt I had to. No kids menu but the smaller portions option was perfect for her. She thoroughly enjoyed her dinner too. Absolutely worth every penny. We went here on our last day in Scotland for a full Scottish breakfast. It was nicely cooked and presented. My only gripe was that their house made beans needed to be cooked longer, as they were not soft enough. If a cafe is advertising the fact that their beans are "homemade", then they need to exceed the Heinz benchmark, which I think they fell short of on this occasion.

I booked in for a late lunch and sat out on the sunny terrace (shade in the form of a big umbrella thankfully ☀️🕶) Our food took a while to come out because it was really really busy, we didn’t mind at all because the staff were really nice about it yet they still took some money from our bill! The food was really tasty. Lovely place to have a relaxing catch up in a gorgeous area of Edinburgh. We were served by Paul who was so lovely, my mum wanted to take him home! Also by a really helpful, friendly girl I think her name was corrine. 🥰

Scotts Kitchen have a menu with gluten free and dairy free meal alternetives! The staff were friendly and very helpful. They could answer all of our questions about allergens (gluten/dairy). I had a really nice latte with almond milk and a Rhubarb dessert with vanilla & almond cream. My son was finally able to taste the "Vinegar crisps" as they also had gluten free crisps! Great! We also tasted some chips and a lunch offer with a starter and a hamburger. All family members were really pleased with our stop at Scotts Kitchen!

Scott's kitchen had some lovely staff and a great terrace area to eat with a wonderful view of the street below and the city. Book in advance for those seats though. I recommend the haggis balls which was sublime and just getting lots of the smaller dishes to share.

Location is great overlooking the city, the haggis was flavourful, sausage patty’s were tasty, coffee was nice, the toast was good, but the eggs …..oh the eggs, how do you mess up poached eggs! All of them practically hard boiled! Which just left a massive damper on the brekkie. The dish could have done with some sauce too, like a hollandaise for example. I have given a middle off the road rating given that they offered to swap for additional eggs afterwards and gave us a discount. But please look keep an eye on those eggs in future !

We didn't have a table booked and despite it was a busy time we were offered a table inside. The place looks very nice - modern, clean and cosy. The wife had haggis, I tried a burger with added haggis. In the menu it says that their haggis won some awards... I didn't know there are some competitions for this dish, but if there are - this one is the winner! It was absolutely delicious!!! The same with the burger - amazing! I highly recommend this place. Very friendly staff, superb food (not huge menu, but that is good point in this instance) and very reasonable prices.

Great location and excellent food. The cafe was nicely decorated, bright and airy and the staff had a matching bright and friendly approach. We were well looked after and the food came out in no time (it was quiet when we visited late on a Tuesday morning). I had the Scott's breakfast and it was one of the best cooked breakfasts I've ever had. The spiced beans were delicious. My partner had scrambled eggs and smashed avocado which was also excellent. Big portion sizes were welcome to keep us going for the day. It's over an hour later and I'm still stuffed... I also had a tasty banana and strawberry smoothie which was expensive but plentiful.

This is a hidden gem in the centre of Edinburgh just around the corner from the castle, the staff are incredibly polite and courteous, the food is delicious and well prepared and presented and the ambiance is so chilled its such a pleasure to dine there, we initially stopped off there for a coffee earlier in the day and were so much at ease that we decided to book for dinner later the same day. A real pleasure to dine there, if you are visiting Edinburgh it is a must to try it.

The staff were so friendly here. They had no tables inside so we sat outside. They brought us blankets to keep us warm. It then started to rain so they managed to move us inside and made all the efforts to help carry things and make the transition as smooth as possible. My friend and I had smoked salmon eggs Benedict, which was presented nicely and was very yummy but extremely pricey for what it is. The setting is nice and you do get that upmarket feel, hence the price. I would definitely recommend but just be aware if you are looking for a cheaper breakfasts this may not be the place but over all was a really nice experience.

Many reviews said Scotts Kitchen was allergy friendly and being someone with a fairly severe nut allergy this was perfect! The staff (shoutout Josh!) were super helpful! I was informed of what I could and couldn’t eat and was given alternatives where able! The food was incredible and hearty portion sizes as well! I had the soup of the day as well as a side of mashed potatoes. My friend had the hummus, a potato and fish soup and we shared 2 different salad options they had. Overall the food and experience was 10/10 and would for sure tell anyone who wants a causal quick bite while roaming around Edinburgh to come here! Wow!

We dropped in as a group of 9 on a Sunday morning and they were able to accommodate us all on one long table at no notice, which was a huge bonus. I couldn't fault the service and the quality of the food for the price was exceptional. I tried the full Scotts breakfast (pictured) which was lovely. The beans and haggis in particular were to die for. Perhaps the square sausage was a little more done than I'd like but everyone in the group was extremely complementary. I'd love to return and try some more things off their menu for lunch or dinner next time I'm in Edinburgh.

We came to Edinburgh from Liverpool for a short break. Stumbled amongst this place by pure chance. Food is 10/10! Ham hock and cheddar sandwich is a must to take the edge of. In need of something more substantial then the Scotts Kitchen burger is an absolute pleasure. Amazing service especially in the current climate! Thank you guys

Looking for a light supper, so visited about 8.00 one evening. Ordered hamburger, to be told the kitchen had said no, but no real explanation? Then waiter bought out six hamburgers to a family table. So, ok, ordered small sharing board, came without sourdough, as displayed. When we queried this, offered a few slice's of bread as replacement. Really felt it was near closing time, a busy day, couldn't really be bothered. The food we had was good however, as were the Brownies .
