Reviews of Söderberg Pavilion
T. O.
I only came for a coffee and bun but was tempted by the meatballs. Delicious! Cozy atmosphere, especially in the evening. If I was staying longer in Edinburgh I would of come again. If you like Swedish food you'll love this.
n. d. (. F. P.
My first time visiting the Söderberg and they do nice coffee and cake and it's a very well presented place with friendly staff and nice cake. My son rated his cinnamon bun an 8 out of 10. My coffee and chocolate ball (chopped up by myself) were very nice.
P. B.
Nice place. Staff friendly and attentive.
The pizzas looked good.
However, I had an open sandwich.
Consisted of one small slice of sourdough bread. Two thin slices of tomato. A small amount of crumbled feta and 5 olives. Ridiculously over priced at £9.50!! Was part of the lunch menu but felt like a small starter. Not really value for money in my opinion.
F. A.
This menu is incredible, would be perfect for a date. Especially love the cocktails selection. Staff were super friendly and made me feel happy and welcomed. My flatmate ordered a flat white and a bun and I ordered a ginger ale and a Kladkakka (Swedish chocolate cake). All 10/10! Lovely experience, recommend for a date, friend date or just a coffee!

Yesterday I visited this place for the first and definitely not last time.
Food was great but service was exceptional. We ordered a Swedish meat balls pizza and after I cut it and was about to start eating, a friend alerted to me that it could contain pork, which I don’t eat, and apparently yes it contained pork and the waitress happily offered to change it with another pizza 😃
T. G.
It is a real pleasure to pop in anytime, and always receive a warm welcome and delicious treats!
J. S. M.
This place has a great pear, gorgonzola and crème freiche pizza, absolutely recommended. I am just visiting Edinburgh, but I saved the last night to come back for another one of these delicious pizza 🍕. Other pizzas we had were really good, and the salads too, so I would definitely recommend this place for a casual meal/cafe.
Y. Y.
Lovely staff, nice food.
But it is appalling that they don’t have any wifi (and cellular there is very bad). If you need to take a call or a video meeting - avoid!
K. S.
Really wonderful space, great food and friendly staff. The fresh Swedish buns are amazing and the winter cocktails 😋
T. M.
Food was great, and the drinks were delicious - fresh, homemade juices. We sat outside in the sun, and received great table service from the stuff. If you're in Quartermile, this is a great place to stop for a quick snack
e. O.
Stopped here for a bit of shelter during rainy weather and glad we did. Nice pasties and good cocktails
R.
Love this place - great venue and lovely outside seating bit for when the sun comes out, otherwise you feel very cosy sitting inside looking out through the walls of windows. The sourdough pizzas are amazing, the coffee is great, and they always have a wonderful selection of baking to tempt you to stay longer. Staff have always been very friendly and helpful as well, although I haven't been in the last few weeks so can't comment on how it might have changed like other reviewers have mentioned.
A.
Great coffee and cakes from soderberg! Have only ever been in for coffee but has never disappointed, averagely priced and really friendly staff working here! The food looks pretty tasty too and a very open and comfortable feel to the coffee shops! There are 3 in close proximity to each other near the quarter mile in Edinburgh! So you are sure to find a seat amongst the 3!
A. L.
Lovely comfortable and laid back atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious cinnamon roll!
N.
The food, drinks, and atmosphere are top notch but the service is slow every time I go. Plan ahead before you come here.
A. B.
Nice place but weird cuisine and cocktails. Swedish pizza ain't all that but the pastries were good.
C. H.
This is my favourite place in Edinburgh for coffee and cake! The cinnamon buns are divine!
They have also started having jazz nights on a Sunday which are relaxing with a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!
S. L. (.
I love coming here for awesome pizza. A real treat! Always lovely service and good advice. Recommend!
S. T.
Nice modern Scandinavian spare/cozy hybrid design. Good place to meet up with friends or sit alone to read or work, or wait out a rainstorm. Friendly staff and uni-heavy crowd. First time I had a bottle labeled "Speyside Glenlivet" that was filled with...mineral water.
J. T.
Even though the staff is 5 stars, the pizzas are average and it was empty on a Thursday night. On the plus side, it's family friendly!
F. K.
Delicious pizzas with sourdough crust. Had the smoked pancetta and the salmon both were really good. Can highly recommend this place!
L. M.
Came for the coffee, stayed for the banana bread and cute American lad waiting tables
J. I.
Decent coffee, tasty pastry, service leaves much to be desired, and to top it all off, you are forced to leave a tip at checkout whether you like it or not, the waitress shows me the machine and basically tells me to pick one of the percentages, 10% 20% or 30% and no option to opt out. As far as I’m aware tipping is optional in the UK and is not mandatory.
J. B.
Tasty food, friendly service, cosy atmosphere, and I felt comfortable with their covid measures!
C. B.
Lovely coffee however the service was quite slow and it’s pretty overpriced!
D. H.
Lovely waffles, good coffee, great service and the best pastries.
E. R.
Lovely place. I only had coffee and a bun, but they seemed to have lots of breakfast and lunch options.
N. J. (.
I have been twice now to the jazz evening on a sunday and the music and atmosphere is lovely.
The food is lovely, the menu is simple, but the selection of pizza is great. A wonderful mix of toppings.
The staff have always been very friendly.
I highly recommend this as a chilled way to finish your weekend.
C. L.
Lovely setting with great coffee and a wide range of cakes, but quite pricey. A 50p surcharge on non dairy milks is more than anywhere else I've seen, and very few of their cakes seem to be vegan. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend this café of you're plant-based as it's not affordable. Other than that the staff are great and they have jazz on Sunday evenings! Important to note that there's no WiFi.
J. A.
Best pizza I have had outside Italy. They also do a mean breakfast
H. B.
Excellent coffee, with non dairy milk options available. The raspberry pastries were brilliant. Relaxed environment for breakfast with some friends. Fascinating being able to watch them preparing pizzas in the big oven.
V. S.
One of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. I usually go here for lunch, but it can be really packed during lunchtime. Good sourdough pizza, nice place, friendly staff. They occasionally organise small music events, last summer they had jazz performances. Got to see one of them, and it was lovely!
S. G.
Cool little place for a quick something to eat. Delicious cinnamon buns. Sourdough pizzas looked really good, will go back to try one for sure
S. M.
Lovely indy coffee shop with amazing cinnamon buns and pizzas. Friendly staff and speedy service. Dog friendly outside only.
A. K.
Coffee and cocktails are good but service is quite slow as usually there is lack of staff.
On our last visit cider was about of stock also.
M. M.
Really enjoyed the pizzas. Nice oven in the middle that makes it quite comfy though having a lot of windows around it. Coffee was good and a lot of home made pastries are served as well. Recommendation for lunch.
C. B.
Loved the food, the wine, the service and oh my god the live music! So glad to have this place in Edinburgh, will definitely be back!
C. S.
Excellent pizza cooked in a real pizza oven in a lovely setting with full glass windows. There is also a nice selection of baked goods and the coffee is really good quality. Good selection of drinks on offer and availability to sit outside in the nice weather.
S.
Fantastic cafe, delicious coffee, great service but make the journey for the cinnamon buns, they are fantastic and unique in my experience. Worth searching out.
M. G.
Delicious food, goat cheese starter and the walnut & pear pizza were incredibly good.
Sunday evening live jazz sessions are fantastic, creating a really charming atmosphere.
D. M.
Good service, nice ambiance and food mostly great eg mushroom pizza, open salmon sandwich, coffees and bakery items however cheese and spinach omelette a disappointment - basically a plain unseasoned omellete with spinach and cheese on side and folded under, basically flavourless !
J. W.
Nice selection of items but the hot food menu has been reduced now. Boiled egg on toast just isn't inspiring - bring back the poached eggs and avocado with pesto drizzle. The pastries are still interesting.
J. M.
Popped in for lunch, the pizzas are amazing quality and a good selection of bakery goods, really reasonably priced :)
S.
The selection isn't large but everything is made to such a high standard, even something as simple as salmon on some sort of artisan bread with a salad is utterly exquisite, and the cakes and pastries and like nothing else, I'd give myself type 2 diabetes just to have the pleasure of eating their cinnamon rolls 👌
A.
Really struggled finding really good coffee in Edinburgh so far, had an excellent espresso and a delicious vanilla and blueberry bun. I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu 👌
T. S.
Really good coffee, enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
c.
Exquisite Café, Söderberg Pavilion gave me the opportunity to indulge myself with freshly baked Swedish goods complemented with excellent coffee. They also prepare highly delicious and out of the ordinary sourdough pizzas that would satisfy any taste - even the more fastidious ones.
R. M.
Amazing selection of exquisite bakery, lovely coffee too! I had their coffee and cinnamon buns on my wedding morning 🥰
M. “. C.
Located in a surprisingly quiet area (given that's in the center of Edinburgh and a stone throw away from the University and the Meadows), Söderberg offers a nice an cozy atmosphere with very friendly service. Oh, and the food is delicious (their sourdough is one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of sampling).
A. R.
A lovely setting hidden right in the heart of the Quartermile, an absolute sun-trap on a sunny Edinburgh day - perfect for a cheeky coffee and cake enjoyed "au dehors".
And my wife's chocolate mudcake was certainly delicious.
Only criticism is that overall, the cake selection appeared limited, and the 'Valrhona' hot chocolate lacked any real chocolatey "punch".
Would certainly go back for the setting, not yet sure that the beverage side of things would merit a return visit.
C. M.
Söderberg is a gem. Bereakfast is superb. Personal favourite is the salmon omelette. Fantastic outdoor eating area in the square, weather permitting. The traditonal Sweedish cinnamon buns (or if you can pronounce it in Sweedish "kanelbulle") are great, when they're caught warm. Pizzas here are definitely worth a go. Child friendly too, with highchairs.
W. B.
Comfortable and causal cafe setting. Serving nordic plates of food and bottled drinks. Nice atmosphere inside and when the weather permits, it's pleasant to sit outside in the courtyard setting.
K. C.
Very healthy pizza!
a. m.
I quite like Soderberg, but it’s sometimes just a bit too cool for school. Not very cosy as you’re essentially sitting in a big glass box under a bakery. They serve very small coffees, so if you don’t like coffee very much but like to be seen drinking it somewhere cool, this is the place to go!
N. F.
The atmosphere is an absolute A+, however the food is expensive and the menu doesn't have a lot of variety. Live jazz on sunday afternoon's if you're into it.
E. S. S.
Great cafe with excellent signature sour dough pizzas, open sandwiches, juices, teas, coffee and Swedish buns. Branch round the corner has a great range of Swedish ices, soups and sandwiches.
A. C.
Lovely space, awesome looking and tasting bakery items, good coffee and a little quieter than the one round the corner.
K.
Great spot for brunch, bit different and nice to try something I wouldn't usually go for
A. P.
The pizza base from sourdough is excellent, nice outside seating, good cakes as well
M. M.
Nice place, pizza was a bit salty.
clean toilets :)
S. M.
Really nice spot for lunch. The pizza is excellent or brunch on a Sunday get the baked Eggs with Jamon and Spinach.
T. M.
Amazing pizzas, in the heart of the quarter mile. Choose the number of slices you want to go for the whole thing. Delicious toppings on a thin base.
A. V. D. V.
Great place with fantastic food and wonderful atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
W. L.
Exactly my type of pizza. Good coffee, too. My wife was not as big a fan of the pizza.
J.
Cosy cafe in a nice part of Edinburgh. Only problem is customers have to hunt for their own table rather than getting seated sequentially so not surprising to see people fighting for the seats claiming first to be there.
J. K.
Good coffee shop. The cinnamon buns were slightly under par, but decent enough.
C. A.
Lovely food, wine & Friendly staff. Sitting in the sun this afternoon it was perfect 🥰
A. K.
One of my favorite brunch spots in Edinburgh! Swedish toast with salmon is a must, Cinnamon bun is also highly recommended :)
Z. M.
Amazing waffles! Did not expect it to be so tasty, our server was also a true gem.
M. R.

J. D.

Great pizza although a tad expensive. Waited over 50 mins too
D. S.
Excellent food and atmosphere, only held back by slightly high pricing. Some of the best pizzas in Edinburgh
E. F.
Nice but would be a 5* if there were more vegan options.
P. M.
Great charcuterie platter (quite a lot for two) and a Jazz performance every Sunday night until mid July!
P. M.
Great pizza. Recommend it always. Coffee is amazing too!
L. B.

I like the place so nice and comfortable. I visited maybe 5-6 times. Located near to me. Beautiful in the summer, so sunny. It stays till late. Their pizza, salad, and scones were good. What hesitates me to come back is the wifi issue. Once I step in, the signal disappears and they don’t have wifi 💔

Gern wieder.

Unexpectedly good breakfast (I didn't know Södetberg yet). I had a succulent, oven-baked omelette with delicate smoked salmon and spinach with bread and toast. All ingredients first class. Gladly again.
