Reviews of Söderberg Stockbridge
C. C.
comfy relaxing vibe for a coffee break and sweet treat
T. C.
It was the best tomato soup I have ever eaten. Highly recommend!
I. R.
The buns were delicious, we got a selection to take away. Will be coming back again
A. B.
Good coffe, nice range of Swedish style cakes and pastries. No pressure to have coffe and leave. Stylish, simple decor.
M. R.
Great sourdough bread. Great coffee and cakes etc. Helpful staff in Stockbridge. Been going there for years. You know there is good management, because staff busy, but happy and courteous.
C. H.
Pastries are really amazing. I tried cinnamon bun and pistachio tart. They were both delicious, not very sugary but very tasty.
T. M. M.
Nice pastries, but fairly limited space inside and gets busy. Service so so.
B. T.
Good tea and pastries, not a massive selection of food but all good quality.
T. B.
Lovely café with delicious buns!
J. O.
Friendly cafe with nice coffee and a great selection of very tasty cakes and pastries.
J. I.
Nice atmosphere and staff. Good coffee and a pastry to die for!
M. W.
I love everything but your coffee - I found it too sour tasting, sorry. Everything else is delicious!
F. C.
Managed to get parked at the door on a busy Sunday. Excellent coffee, marzipan cakes and refreshing Karma cola to wash the pollen away. We are very lucky to have this cafe in Stockbridge
L. B.
Found this lovely place yesterday. Had the most amazing blondie with a fab hot choc and amazing friendly service thankyou.
J. B.
Tasty food, excellent coffee and great staff!
J.
Really tasty cardamom buns and a good coffee. Good for a takeaway.
C. B.
It's not cheap but then again it is really good. The coffee is better than the average and the buns are delicious. I will remain a regular customer to the chain.
M. N.
The patisserie is very good and the services so good
F. M.
Helpful staff, nice space, decent coffee and food. Could benefit from slightly larger range of options.
A. T.
Nice tea and a quite a good amount of seating!
C. C.
I went there with my partner last weekend for an ice cream. There were no ice creams on display at the time but the manager went out of his way and got us different ice creams flavors from the shop’s stock as they just received them. We were the only two customers to ask for it so his gesture was very much appreciated and his friendly attitude and smile made the whole experience very enjoyable. The ice cream was very good and all staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend !
C. H.
Söderberg always has an amazing selection of fresh cinnamon buns and other treats. I love the relaxed atmosphere and have spent many an afternoon relaxing with a coffee.
J.
Really solid, strong coffees at a very reasonable price. A hint of burnt flavours but that adds to the taste. The ice-cream is amazing. £2.50 for a huge fresh scoop that overwhelms with fruit and a great waffle cone. Highly recommended.
H. R.
Excellent coffee and earl grey tea and a really lovely wholemeal scone with really good raspberry jam.
S. B.
Great coffee and lovely cakes
M. W.
Lovely cafe just small. Mostly for your takeaway bakery breads. Nice little selection of ice cream with wafer cones or tubs. Great for the youthlings.
E. C.
Great quality, but prices are a little high. Often quite busy, so expect to share a table.
A. d. l. R.
Fantastic coffee. Supadupa cakes
C. T.
Tasty tasty Swedish buns!
But don't get deceived by the lovely green of the pistachio pastries. The dominant taste is almond rather than pistachios. Though, if you have a thing for pistachios, go for them. Their texture is respectable enough.
Still, 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for the Swedish buns and friendly staff!
J. W.
Good coffee and delicious cinnamon bun.
D. F.
Great tasting coffee and sandwiches. It’s well known in Edinburgh for artisan bread and Swedish style pastries.
It’s only a small cafe with few tables and windows stools. It’s very busy in the mornings so there’s often a wait.
Staff are friendly and the cafe is very clean and minimalist in style.
J. G.
This is a wonderful place to have in the neighborhood, if only for the high-quality baked goods. Whenever we have visitors, we happily wake up early and head here for a selection of breads and pastries to bring home for a memorable breakfast. There's always something cardamom-y, which is inevitably a favorite. There's also daily sweet and savory scones, both of which tend to be so tasty they don't need any toppings.
I know they also do pizzas and salads and the like, but we haven't gotten around to trying them yet.
D. N.
Superb coffee, plenty of socially distanced seating, friendly and professional staff - one of whom I recognised from the past. What's not to like?
O. Z.
Great coffee place! Scandinavian simple design, shared tables, serves sandwiches and pastry, both influenced by Scandinavian cuisine. Tried salmon lax sandwich and blueberry and vanilla bun, were happy with both. Excellent coffee, friendly staff...I'm so happy I've found the place, and they have branches. Helped me to rehabilitate the opinion I formed about Edinburgh coffee stage.
L. S.
Nice friendly staff, good range of hot drinks and cakes, the bread is delicious, small lunch time menu on a first serve basis, once it's gone it's gone. Nice for a catch up for friends over coffee or to stop and do some work. Plugs to charge phone or laptop but no WiFi. Can use the WiFi from next door as it's open but not 100%
A. H.
The decor is a little generic. My latte was good, as apparently was the soup. The foods were a little too skewed towards curiously flavoured Scandinavian sweet treats for my tastes. Nice staff though.
E. O.
Delicious cardamom buns and pistachio pastry. The coffees were also very good. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere.
H. B.
I would have given 5 stars but I just couldn't believe the noise coming from behind the counter! The coffee and scone were delicious but the atmosphere was painful on the ears.
S. H.
Love it. Typically have to share a table as it's busy. Unlike our fav in Gamalstan this place takes cash! But like the other one does cinnamon buns and many other equals. Wide enough selection of pastries etc and forms of coffee for us but I don't recall seeing sandwiches
R. M.
Freshly made sandwiches etc with quality ingredients a cut above the average. Tasty fresh home made soup. Rustic atmosphere seating basic not very comfortable.
C. P.
Myself and Lindsay O, stumbled on this little place as we were early for our Elitle event, so we wanted a hot drink and something tasty to get out of the cold Brrr!
Well I loved it! I am so glad we chose to walk in here! Firstly It was open till 8pm - fab as Starbucks and other coffee shops nearby were closing at 6.30pm. Secondly we loved the pastries and even at 6.30pm their was still a good selection. They have lots of different types of bread and the girls that served us were very nice and friendly. We opted for a hot chocolate, and I love when they do those little cute designs on top! Makes me smile. The pastries were smashingly yummy too!
D. A.
Nice cakes. Good coffee (not as good as artisan roast but still good). Nice atmosphere and nice people working there. Worth a visit if at that end. Bread is lovely
R. M.
Much better looking following its recent refit. Good coffee and fantastic breads and pastries.
G. H.
I went here a couple of weeks ago to meet my wife for a coffee between finishing work and us heading off for evenings out.
They serve Artisan Roast coffee and don't charge extra for soy milk so if your dairy averse it's cheaper than Artisan.
My wife got there before I did so had already ordered me a coffee and something that looked like a giant walnut whip coated with nuts. It turned out to be a teacake with really thick gooey marshmallow
When our coffees arrived, the milk in one of them had been burnt which can be a common problem with soy milk, but they were more than happy to replace it and the second one was perfect.
I cant really comment on the food but from some of the plates I saw being delivered to other tables it looked good.
This is one we will be going back to again I'm sure
S. W.
Friendly comfortable eatery with healthy food options. Air conditioning a bonus on a hot day. Spacious seating allows for enough personal space to share all.
A. K.
Small café with friendly staff located in a convenient part of Stockbridge. Lovely coffee and great selection of homemade Swedish buns and sandwiches as well as fresh breads.
A. S.
Fabulous coffee and home made eats. Great bread. Not too much seating. A bit more since the redecorate. Staff very friendly.
F. G.
Great coffee, delicious scones. Friendly staff.
L. B.
Being a Scandinavian I'm biast and automatically love this place without even being there BUT in honesty this place is great, the food is really good and well prepared.
The staff are lovely and helpful too.
My only downfall is I wish it was bigger as it's a little tight.
But in all a great place.
J. B.
Cardamon buns and cardamom hot choc on top of a slew of delicious artisan teas and fresh hand-ground coffee... Soderberg is amazing and highly recommended for a light bite break!
C. M.
Coffee was over roasted and staff a bit haphazard. Pastries are delicious. Big - light - airy- white wood - dark walls - a testament to its Scandi heritage. Not cheap.
L. C.
I really like the decaf coffee here and my daughter adores the cinnamon buns - BUT you can hardly ever get a seat and the decent coffee definitely comes at the expense of speed. It's also really not cheap but I guess you get what you pay for.
S. C.
Having been to Peter's Yard (Quartermile) I was really looking forward to a good cup of coffee at their Stockbridge bakery. I'd been meaning to go since it opened.
The setup is pretty much the same except on a smaller scale. The low key Scandanavian style being right up my street.
However, the black coffee I had was average at best and no matter how nice the cup may be, the quantity of coffee I got was also not good enough. Especially for the price.
All in all I probably won't be going back unfortunately, however my girlfriend did enjoy her cappucino so if that's your bag you'll probably enjoy the experience.
Drink (coffee) - 6/10
Decor - 8/10
Staff - 8/10
Atmosphere - 7/10
S. M.
Decent coffee and cakes in a nice clean setting, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Child friendly place, our daughter loves it.
J. D.
Beautiful pastries and hot chocolate!
D. M.
Fantastic cafe in the heart of Stockbridge. Lots of varied fresh food available and lots of cakes and sweet treats available as well. Can be very busy at times and maybe a little expensive but you certainly get your money's worth. Highly recommended.
A. W.
Great place for a cup of coffee and one of their delicious baked goods for breakfast. I went late morning on a week day. Quiet and staff were pretty nice!
M. G.
First the bad: a little over priced, rather pretentious and pretty disorganised. Not somewhere to relax or have a chat: little seating in a busy cramped space.
But! Their food and drink are delicious, particularly the cake and coffee. I'd suggest getting a takeaway and sitting outside...
Z. H.
Great coffe and fantastic range of delightful cakes.
P. C.
Although their venue in Stockbridge is a bit smaller than the one at Quartermile, it is as charming and the food as good. Perfect for a late breakfast (their cardamom and cinnamon buns are unrivalled) or a quick lunch (lovely pizzas and home made salads), you should check it out if you are in the area ;)
A. H.
Wonderful little coffee shop, service was excellent as were the coffee and buns! Would highly recommend to anyone!
A. K.
I like this place. The staff is very friendly and the pastries are really good. Try the cinnamon or the blueberry and vanilla buns. Yummy.
S. L. (.
A bit smaller than the Peter's Yard up at Quartermile (around 16 seats). It still has all the food and drink like breakfast baskets and excellent coffee. Highly recommend.
A. N.
Its a good place for decent coffee and a bite usually
T. M.
Such a smooth coffee! Best latte in Stockbridge!!
A. L.
Lovely place for a cup of coffee and bun! Great location - a little bit away from busy streets of Edinburgh. Perfect for relaxing morning.
A. C. G.
Great place, nice coffee
S. S.
Small, nice vibe and very good coffee. Took a while to get, so don't go if you're in a rush.
T. H.
Great coffee! Cinnamon buns were amazing, but a bit pricey at £2.50 per.
A. P. F.
Nice Scandinavian style coffee shop!
A tad expensive for what they offer.
Their bread is very good.
Z. P.
One of my absolute favourite places to get pizza (the other one being the Quartermile branch of Peter's Yard). These are mouthwateringly good – light, crispy and flavoursome. You also get a side of Swedish 'slaw with every order which is a tangy, tasty accompaniment. The premises here are quite small so you might have to wait or share your table – or you can order your pizza to takeaway. If, like me, you've gone off takeaway pizza, this will make reconsider... it's gourmet pizza to go!
M. H.
Coffee was OK, but the pastries were GREAT and the staff was super friendly as well.
S. B.
One of the better coffee shop in Edinburgh
K. W.
Friendly staff 😊
Best cinnamon buns ever!
S. G.
Good service, great food and coffee, but on the pricey side.
J. W.
The hot chocolate was a bit expensive, and it was more like a very milky hot cocoa - not all that pleasant. Service was okay, but not overly friendly.
H. M.
New re fit, so much airier and space now to sit. Great coffee and lovely baked goods.
M. G.
Staff are really helpful and friendly. The coarse rye bread is amazing.... Coffee most enjoyable. :-)
K. W.
Their coffee is strong but delicious and best when enjoyed with a cinnamon bun....
K. S.
Amazing coffee. Fantastic cinnamon bun
J. L. T.
Good coffee, excellent breads and pastries - a little on the steep side, but worth it for the quality
A. G.

A. C.
Good location in heart of Stockbridge. Decent coffee and extensive range of healthy eats.
B. P.
Excellent scones. Almost too hip. Fact: quinoa was invented here in 2016.
E. H.
Great little cafe for sandwiches, pastries and picking up a loaf of their amazing bread!
D. M.
