Reviews of Southern Cross Cafe

A cute place for brunch or cake. Can get quite busy, so expect some waiting time. Staff was very nice! We had brunch there, which was decent. Although I ordered a cappucino which came with cocoa powder sprinkled on top - just a big no thanks for me. But they had loads of delicious looking cakes on display, and the carrot cake, which we had was delicious. Looked like they had a lot of delicious items on the menu, so would probably come back.

We discovered this cafe while we were taking stroll in Edinburgh. It’s a beautiful cafe with friendly helpful staff . The service was good too.
We tried their cake , brownies and waffles loved it . The ambiance was top too . Pricing was reasonable not too cheap not too expensive either . It’s a cosy restaurant and not too spacious
I would definitely recommend this cafe in Edinburgh.
L. J.
The food was decent and the atmosphere was pleasant. I had eggs Benedict with salmon, which was tasty but the egg and bread came out cold. Our main complaint though was my wife had ordered blueberry pancakes, and we were informed 30 minutes later that they were out. Not at the time of ordering, and not right after that order was brought to the kitchen. Led to a delayed breakfast and a delayed exploration of the city after.

The place to come for a top quality delicious breakfast. Staff are welcoming and the venue has a very relaxed atmosphere. Background music is played which could be a little much for some early on but this is inkeeping with the relaxed and friendly vibe.
Looking at the menu this venue is also perfect for lunch and afternoon teas. Lots of delicious cakes entice you in from the front window.
L. M.
One of my favourite cafes in Edinburgh. Their oat chai latte is delicious and they have a really good selection of cakes. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful aesthetic also!

Southern Cross Café is located in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town at 63a Cockburn Street.
It serves delicious breakfast, brunches and lunches. And they also use fresh roasted coffee from Brazil!
Open daily, the café caters to every sweet-tooth with its homemade cakes and biscuits, such as its famous orange and chocolate cake, shortbread, meringue and macaroons and uses only fresh Scottish-sourced products.
The café's location is next door to Edinburgh Waverley station and a stone's throw from main attractions such as the Scottish Parliament Building and the National Museum of Scotland.
Service here was fantastic and all the staff were super friendly. Thanks Rodrigo (Rods) for the amazing service!!!
F. R.
Lovely cafe, breakfast menu had a nice range to cater to all. I had the blueberry pancakes, there was a slight issue where the pancakes were very hard and I couldn’t cut them, the lovely staff arranged some fresh cooked again and were very apologetic, they were delicious! Highly recommend, staff go above and beyond here and it’s a lovely atmosphere very warm and welcoming!
I. Z.
Had the vegetarian breakfast. It was really great. I’m very picky when it comes to coffee, but I love the coffee here. They use excellent coffee beans. What’s unique about this cafe is the vibe and its atmosphere, the choice of songs are fantastic. Will definitely come back.
T. M.
On Cockburn street this is one of our favourite Edinburgh cafes , on this visit we both had flat whites and the Eggs Benedict which were delicious , lovely friendly staff and a nice atmosphere makes this a wonderful spot for a light lunch as you wander down the Royal Mile, liked the elephant motifs found throughout the café as well
S. A.
Great place to stop for coffee / tea and cake.
The cakes are really tasty, just like home made cakes should taste. We were given very generous spices of cake. Both the coffee cake (which actually smelt and tasted of coffee, unlike some cafes) and carrot cake were lovely and will certainly stop there again.
There is both indoor and outdoor seating, plus toilets inside.
F. A.
Lovely seating, much bigger than it looks! No vegan options at all though.
J. M.
Excellent food all homemade.excellent service staff and manager brilliant and very polite nice surrounding went b4 lockdown and had to return this year. And everything was just as good as I remember it. Definitely a place I would visit each time I visit Edinburgh.
C. 8.
Busy cafe on Cockburn Street. Large breakfast menu and reasonably priced. Still got seated despite how busy it was. Service was quick and food was good. I'd visit again.
C. B.
Independent cafe situated in the old town of the city. We came across it randomly on our first day for a coffee and returned the next day for lunch. Lovely coffee and food (the chocolate orange cake is to die for!). The staff are friendly and there is a good atmosphere. Would definitely visit again when we return to Edinburgh.
A. R.
We get egg royal, it was so tasty and the service was fast and nice . I would repeat for sure !
S. G.
The BEST eggs royale I’ve ever had, such a lovely atmosphere, wish I could come here again!
V. Y.
Lovely and cute cafe in the centre of Edinburgh! Great staff that are very friendly and attentive!
Great selection of dishes for food too! We tried the couscous salad and the chicken quesadillas and both were fantastic.
P. U.
Had breakfast here 4 days in a row on our recent trip to Edinburgh. 3rd to 8th. Food was lovely, pancakes superb, tried to do at home few days back, failed to get the same quality. Eggs Ben-brilliant, big breakfast loved it. Customer service very good, thank you boss for making us so welcome.
J. M.
Amazing place. Best Eggs Royale I’ve had and delicious carrot cake!
劉.
The food here is just awesome. The flavour of carrot cake is the best I've ever had (not too sweety and the cream on top is amazing), and salmon goes really well with Benedict egg as well. Definitely will go again next time when I go to Edinburgh.
T. C. g.
Absolutely amazing cafe. It was pouring with rain and one of the servers spotted us heading to the cafe and opened the door to welcome us in. The cafe was busy but the service was really quick. Fantastic food and the best coffee I think I've ever had. Thank you very much!
V. G.
Very nice cafe just off the royal mile. Very clean and very good food worth a visit for a bit too eat
N. A. F.
Love everything about this cafe
The food is so delicious
Try the walnut coffee cake 🤭🤍🤍
Service amazing
S.
The menu here looked quite nice. We got the falafel burger with side salad and also the bbq chicken wrap with fries. Service was kind of slow and it seemed short staffed but the service was still very polite and helpful.
The food took a little while to arrive. The side salad was so tiny and no dressing. The falafel burger was very nice and the bbq chicken wrap was heavy on the bbq sauce overpowering the chicken and brie.
The cafe itself is very cute and set out nicely. I got an americano but didn't enjoy the coffee personally.
These things would of been forgivable/forgettable if it was slightly cheaper but due to the price, it was 't good value for money.
D. E.
Great service and tasty food, chocolate orange cake was amazing! Would recommend 👌
B. W.
Eggs Bennie and a mocha. My sister had a chai latte and same eggs. Staff are great: friendly and responsive, and fast. We ate outside because seating inside was full in that small place. We have to go back for more coffee and to try some of the scrumptious baked goodies
S. S.
Amazing food
Incredible service
Best cakes in the city
Went twice to the cafe in a 4 day trip
K. R.
In Cockburn St near the Backpackers Hostel.
The food was very good and the atmosphere was great.
G. G.
Amazing friendly staffs and the food is so delicious. We had a full breakfast and particularly the granola yogurt was the best. I definitely would go back again
M. V.
Probably the largest selection of cakes and sweet options I've ever seen in a café, and they all look so tempting you just cannot choose! The waitress upstairs was really nice and took the time to explain which was which on display although it was very busy. I went for the sticky toffee pudding and wasn't disappointed 😋 Big scone with loads of clotted cream was also delish.
M. S.
A perfect little spot for lunch. The staff are all super friendly, you feel so welcome the moment you come in the door. They have an amazing selection of cakes and treats too. I been a few times now and they never disappoint, 100% worth the visit.
R. C.
Amazing place to have a brunch/breakfast, good quality and not expensive, we had a great time there having our brunch. Salmon toast and panini were good but the carrot cake was the best. Diet coke was not from a can and this should be improved. Fast and kind service! Covid rules in place. Recommendable to go with friends!
I. A.
I went here twice during my visit to Edinburgh. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I ended up having a couple of cakes in the end cause they were so good. Oddly enough they just started accepting AMEX the first day I went so I was the first customer to use it haha. Next time I'm in Edinburgh I'll be back for sure :)
K. P.
Absolute gem of a find! Food is so fresh and menu caters for all tastebuds. The waitresses are extremely pleasant and make you feel very welcome creating a fabulous atmosphere. This cafe is excellent! Compliments to everyone for a 1st class service.
D. H.
Cozy cafe, must visit if you are in Edinburgh، this is the most delicious juicy orange cake!!
B. O. U.
Great coffee and breakfast. Recommend!! Get there early
A. K.
Cafe Appearance
- Has both outdoor and indoor sitting.
- Hygiene looks alright, a bottle of sanitiser is provided per table.
Food
- Flat white, the milk-espresso balance was good.
- Almond coffee cake, can’t taste the coffee flavour but the cake was nicely presented. Coating a bit too sweet.
T.
I always end up back at this cafe every time I'm in Edinburgh because I absolutely love the Scottish breakfast here. The ambience is always great, the chai latte is Christmas in a cup and the cakes are also to-die-for (I had the carrot cake and angel slice). It's a very popular place, so you need to be open to waiting if need be :)
M. C.
Had my first date with my gf at this cafe, just celebrated our one year anniversary here and the staff were all so lovely. They put a candle in a slice of cake for us and were so kind!! Also, they have amazing coffee and food. Our favorite cafe!
d.
The food was OK, I had a bacon and sausage roll, the roll was a little dry.
L. F.
Lovely staff and delicious breakfasts and a fantastic playlist 🥰
M. M.
incridible ☕️ nice staff and amazing coffee shop. Love it 🌷
V. H.
Visited here for lunch. Very busy cafe but excellent service. Food very good and staff friendly. Nice ambience. Lovely home baking
A. P.
The dark chocolate and orange cake was delicious and freshly made and very good coffee too. Friendly waiters, always happy to help with a smile.😃
K. M.
Lush staff and good quality food
C. M.
Nice little cafe, cake and coffee were great and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately can't give 5 stars as the menu isnt actually what you pay when the bill comes, which is miss-leading to tourists who might be visiting.
L. C.
Overrated. Vibe in restaurant is good but service was slow and impersonal. Very small portions and fairly expensive. Good food but not great. Nice place but I was disappointed and left hungry while paying $20 for breakfast.
M. S.
The picture of the eggs benedict brought me in and it didn't disappoint. I'd have taken pictures too, but ate it too fast 🤤 Lovely staff and environment as well :)
D. G.
What a great place !! Food good but it's the staff that make this place 🤗 the lovely waitress that served us was so friendly and accommodating but best of all really seemed to love her job !! Also Roddy ( apologies if name is a little wrong ) great Brazilian guy with a passion for people, ethics and coffee !! Like the proper stuff, from actual Brazil 😁 went twice , will deffo revisit , be quite happy just to meet staff again but food is definitely a bonus 😊
G. Y. T.
nice and big scottish breakfast but i thought the coffee was lackluster sadly. 3.5stars.
D. P.
What a nice place! Excellent breakfast with several options. The staff is kind and attentive. It is common to have a queue. Seems like a good place to have a beer at night. I found it a bit expensive.
R. W. M.
I think this is the best cafe I've been to i Edinburgh, my home town.
Located in a historic part of town, the way this cafe is laid out is inspiring. It's really well done up with good lighting and lots of interesting features. It's not that warm though, but maybe this is because I have a cold I feel the cold more.
The service was really friendly and I give them 5 stars mainly based on this. My Polish waitress was lovely and the Spanish Maitre d was great with everyone.
The place was packed and I had to wait for a table for breakfast.
I had the Scottish breakfast which was unhealthy but served in a stylish way on the plate and there wasn't too much of it, so it was fine.
And then I sat around for a bit, reading and writing, and I didn't get any signals from the staff that I should hop it.
Best thing about this place is that it's within walking distance of the train station.
As Arnie says, I'll be back.
M. D.
Such a lovely cafe in Edinburgh.
The manager, Rodrigo is really lovely and you will always get the best service. The cakes are to die for 😍.
S. B. J.
Even though the place is quite small, its atmosphere is just brilliant. I like their coffee and cakes. They are beyond tasty. I like as well how they made the signs for toilet doors 😂
S. Y. W.
Trust me, the cakes here are definitely great, especially the walnut coffee and carrot cake. The Big Belter is totally crazy which I had to share with my friend to finish it (and we even skipped our lunch). Luxury hot chocolate is not bad too.
G. R.
Beautiful little cafe with a warm, friendly reception, the best coffee and cakes to die for. Our server Rhian recognised us from our home town, despite having not seen me for probably 5 or 6 years. A lovely surprise and equally lovely service. So good we visited twice on our trip to Edinburgh. Orange and chocolate cake highly recommended!
J. S.
Lovely cafe and the breakfast a top notch. Was very busy and was a little short staffed the girls serving kept very professional and polite. More staffed turned in not long after and service was fantastic.
V. S.
The decor is great, and the cappuccinos are delicious! The only complaint is that the Eggs Benedict desperately needed some spices. The hollandaise was bland and heavily relied on the chives to give it flavor. The muffin at the bottom was very dry, and hard to cut through. However the staff is very warm and welcoming, and I would go back to try their pastries instead of a meal.
C. “. T.
This is my second time coming to this café with the same friend.
I’m going to begin with the decor: it’s very quirky and cosy. I really love how the place is done out and the balcony upstairs with more seats is a really nice touch! Though at first glance it may seem a little crowded (and it can feel a bit like that) it’s really cosy! Perfect if you like that kind of atmosphere.
The food is actually really nice, though the soup was just warm when it got to me, the cheese in my panini was not entirely melted and also just warm. That being said, it was still delicious, and large portion sizes too! The cakes are absolutely out of this world though! I highly recommend the cake!!
Unfortunately, the service was a little subpar.
The first time we came to this cafe we stood at the door for almost 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us (there was maybes 1 or 2 couples in the whole place) and were sat for almost half an hour in an empty cafe without anyone taking our order. The second time, where the service was speedy and the other staff were extremely happy and friendly, our server was quite blunt and seemed as though she wanted to be anywhere but there. (I’m sure she was just having a bad day though!)
The prices are reasonable, considering it’s the city, though some things may seem a little expensive. However, like I mentioned, you get a decent portion size!
The food is definitely tasty though!
V. E.
Lovely Cafe, great people. Definitely try the orange and dark chocolate cake, was the best.
S. M.
My favourite breakfast and brunch place in town!
S. F.
Really nice cafe at the heart of the old city. Have been here several times and each time is really good. The cakes (the brownie especially) are fresh and tasty. Staff is really friendly, prices are normal and the atmosphere is nice and chilled. Definitely recommended!!
C. B.
Have been here a few times now. Terrific location and fun, lively ambience but the real star is the food. Scotch breakfast is as good as you’ll find, blueberry stackers (pancakes) are outstanding, but good gosh don’t miss the fish cakes at lunch! Outstanding! Also, the servers here are very nice and work their tails off looking after all the guests, which is no small challenge given the four (?) dining rooms. Really glad to have found this place.
W.
Very tasty egg royale and hash browns!
We sat outside and it was pleasant!
The staff were nice and the place is covid safe!
K. A.
Best cappuccino to be had in Scotland and the eggs royal (eggs Benedict) were flavorful and filling. Service was amazing. Would come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended for all travelers and locals.
C. E.
Visited this place a number of times and had great service every time. Very busy little cafe but staff will be more than happy to make up a table if there's space. Food, coffee and cake is all excellent. Prices are reasonable given location.
L. M.
Lovely food and the staff were friendly. It's a very busy little spot but we didn't have to wait too long.
L. C.
Stopped here 2 days in a row, panini's and soup were lovely as well as the coffee. Only regret is not trying some of the cake
P. C.
Cute wee cafe with friendly staff and awesome cakes right in the heart of Edinburgh. Good for a pot of tea and a sweet treat. Or for a quick meal. You choose
D. K.
My very first Scottish breakfast with haggis in Edinburgh which was a pleasant experience. I really liked it! Coffee was also great and staffs were so friendly. Recommend this cafe to everyone!
K. B.
Delicious breakfast and coffee, lovely service! A perfect spot to start your day in Edinburgh!
C. C.
Excellent place! Quick service and friendly staff. The food and coffee were really delicious. I ordered the vegetarian Scottish breakfast and my partner ordered the regular full Scot breakfast. Cozy atmosphere and indie folk pop playlist for the morning was perfect!
M. K.
Super duper staff and great food! Wish I had space for cakes. None the less had a lovely breakfast! And vegetarian haggis was really good!
C. J.
Amazing cakes, drinks and lovely staff. Nice vibes in this pretty little cafe and good music. Been here twice this week and will probably be back again.
B. W.
I grabbed breakfast here during my stay in Edinburgh and it's such a near little café. It's much larger inside than it looks from the outside, with three floors of seating available.
Service is fast and friendly and I really liked the Eggs Benedict. Coffee is a bit weak though.
J. G.
Great coffee and delicious cakes. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Nice ambiance and centrally located.
R. J.
Lovely little cafe that does a tasty breakfast and an even tastier carrot cake.
C. J.
Cool café with a good vibe. Background music wasn't loud and they know how to make a decent coffee. The cakes were worth the sins. Only a few minutes away from the castle and waverley train station so ideal if waiting for a train or mooching around the variety of shops on the street.
A. H.
Had breakfast here 3 days consecutively on my trip. We were served by the same lovely guy on each day and he always did it with a smile. All the staff are hardworking and friendly! The food and drinks were amazing, 10/10 will come back again next year! 💗
J. D.
Staff is lovely, music being played was awful room was cold and food is decent but a bit underwhelming (the toast was cold when served). Coffee was very good.
T. A.
Really good place for breakfast or brunch. The food was very good and the inside atmosphere was good. Coming back here again in the future.
d.
Amazing. Great service. Good was really tasty. Recommended the carrot cake. Cappuccino was so tasty too. Thank you to the guys & girls running the place. Would recommend! 👍🏻☕😋
O. H.
Beautiful cafe in the old city, lots of tables to sit inside. Good English breakfast and great cakes choices
M. K.
My friend ordered chocolate and almond cake which was actually quite good however I ordered wine and tea. Never received the wine...
H. A. C.
Tasty coffee! Great place to take a proper breakfast. Their menu includes eggs, croissants and cakes.
I.
Favorite café in Edinburgh by far. I highly recommend and I cannot wait to be back next time I go to Edinburgh! Everyone is so nice there!
E. A.
Really disappointed having read good reviews etc.
Four slices of supermarket sliced bread, unevenly toasted, so burned in the middle, uncooked for the outside inch. 2 small pieces of anemic looking luke-warm bacon. Had to ask for extra butter to actually have enough for all 4 slices. Only one flavour of jam - again little supermarket packets. Mediocre coffee.
I think this is more of a coffee & cake cafe (the cakes did look good) than a breakfast cafe.
J. K.
A day exploring Edinburgh and stumbled across the Southern Cross Café.
I'm happy to say the coffee (latte) was excellent and I wish I had found it earlier in the day.
Highly recommend stopping here!
N. C.
Food was very good but on par with other nearby places. they clearly have more tables to attend than what they can manage and that may leave the costumer with a bad experience in, waiting times without a "hi, how many people?", In ordering food or getting the check.
If those were to be improved, could be a certain 4 and maybe a 5
B. M.
Fantastic cafe brekky an cakes amazing in 2days in row
P. B.
Great cafe on Cockburn street with outdoor and indoor seating. Nice coffee, a variety of cakes and brunch menu. Friendly and helpful staff.
C. M.
Really good coffee here. Food was fine but coffee was the star. Lovely helpful staff.
R. H.
Coffee was average and not hot enough and slightly overpriced. The random frog decor made things better.
K. F.
Stopped here on the way to our hotel after reading the sign on the door which said voted best in Edinburgh. Not quite. A lot of reviews a re raving about this place. We had the soup of the day and a tea, both of which were average to say the least. The soup was not as good as I hoped as it lacked any real taste, and the tea was as you would expect, but expensive for a single cup.
I would look around before you visit as we went to around 20 coffee shops and cafes during our 4 day stay and this was bottom of the list. Only 300 metres away towards the bottom of the royal mile is a lovely tea room with beautiful cakes and teas which are very nicely priced.
A. G.
Very nice location, and helpful staff. Great choice for salty breakfast, and Scottish typical breakfast really tasty. Really recommended for brunch, but also with great choice for cakes and bakery.
J. M.
A fabulous little find for our afternoon tea and cake. Just divine, service was so friendly and everything tasted gorgeous.
D. f.
Nice place for coffee. We ordered cappuccino 8/10, carrot cake 8/10 and almond cake 9/10.
S. P.
Very good place to have a cake and coffee..
Quick service
A. M.
What a great little spot! So cosy and comfortable, perfect for people eating on a budget but with so much variety on the menu.
Coffee was good and the cake selection was great. Staff are very friendly
J. H.
Stopped off for coffee & cake, I was impressed by the friendly & efficient service. The coffee and millionaire shortbread was great. A much needed respite. I sat outside and people watched for a while. Lovely
R. S.
Great food and service here a standout with some average places around it's a must try place its fab
R. V.
Probably the best breakfast I’ve had in ages. I would definitely go there again. Nice staff members, very friendly.
W. V.
Great place, friendly staff, awesome breakfast! Try the full scottish breakfast if you're really hungry... Or if you need the energy to climb Arthur's seat.
I.
Nice little cafe, I had the pouched eggs with smoked salmon and I have to say I'm very impressed with the taste and quality of the food
H.
Lovely outdoor space on the street. Service with a smile and some very yummy haggis bon bons!
B. M. (.
Really nice cafe, has a great selection of lunch items and service was fantastic.
M. S.
Brilliant cafe. Staff very nice and accomodating. Cakes and coffee are delicious! When you're in Edinburgh you need to visit this place.
B. J.
Fantastic breakfast! The eggs with salmon and hollandaise were possibly the best breakfast entree I've ever had. Great coffee, fast service, quiant little shop.

Lovely caffe with homemade cakes, friendly staff ☺️

Great coffee and delicious cakes, reasonable prices, given the location, and extremely nice staff. I'll be back there for sure, fantastic place!
A. J.
Breakfast was delicious! Freshly made, quick served. Staff is great, kind and helpful. Fully recommend!

M. S.
Great coffee, the blueberry pancakes were amazing. Looking forward to going back for some carrot cake soon!
c. l.
I'm in love with this place. The best cakes. The best latte. The best cappuccino. And the best breakfast. Staff is adorable. Shame I don't live in Edinburgh otherwise I'd be always there
D. O.
Best Scottish breakfast in town, tasty and fresh. My 5th best coffeeshop I've visited
K. H. M.
Everything about this place was so nice except for the service 🙈 but a couple of waiters having a day off shouldn’t ruin this cafes reputation as a super cozy place with very good cakes 🤤 it’s the perfect place to grab a cake and try to get a seat by the window and watch people passing by 😊
A. W.
Real Scott breakfast, very friendly service, perfect meal, perfect to sit and eat
N. T.
Staff were lovely and the food and coffee were delicious. Definitely recommended if you are in the area.

T. M.
Tasty Scottish breakfast and cosy space - perfect spot for brunch close to the centre of the city.
S. L.
A great little café just a stone's throw away from Waverley station. Listen carefully enough and you'll hear a distinct Antipodean accent from some of the staff. Food and coffee were great. Can get very busy.
F. H.
Lovely place, great food, fab cakes, one of my favourites 😎
M. Z.
honestly the best café in edinburgh. the staff are great and accomodating, they recognise regulars, are happy to help, etc. the food is great - same price as elsewhere, but the portions are incredibly generous. i really recommend stopping here (even on a student budget) :)
W. J. C.
Great service, owner made my dad Smile with some quality Bald banter
P. D.
Crowded place at that time, but friendly staff found a place for us and we managed to have a full english breakfast.
N. H.
Great coffee, decent playlist, friendly staff. Food looked good, I had quesadilla basic but tasty. The breakfasts looked impressive.
S. n.
Busy cafe just off the Royal Mile. Good service and friendly staff. Outdoor and indoor seating but outdoor is better if you can as you can admire the surrounding buildings. Food is good and well priced.
M. Y.
Very delicious 🤤 def recommend.
d. b.
Great food and very helpful tourist info from our servers.
M. M.
A wee gem. Great food. .interesting place to sit and watch the world go by. Touristy area but good value. Staff friendly and helpful. Will go again for sure.

Boyfriend and I went here for lunch when visiting Edinburgh for a holiday. Attentive staff, good food and lovely atmosphere. Drinks were some of the best we've had.
E. P.
Very cozy café, friendly ambience, nice cappuccino and a variety of wonderful cakes.
C. D.
Amazing cafe- delicious cake and coffee, lovey lunch and such friendly service! 10000% recommend and we can’t wait to come back! Can’t fault it at all and can’t think of anything to improve!
V. N.
The food was tasty, the prices are high for the service, and sadly the lady serving us was grumpy and in friendly
L. P.
The Eggs Royale from the breakfast menu are fantastic. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Found this place on our last morning in Edinburgh. Wish we'd found sooner. Best breakfast. Fabulous quirky little cafe. Breakfast was delicious and half price to boot with dine out help out discount. Would have still been good value at full price.
j. m.
Fab cakes 🎂 carrot cake was gorgeous nice and central lovely to stop for a cuppa friendly staff.
D. 4.
Great! The carrot cake is just awsome!
S. M.
One of the best places in Edinburgh for breakfast and coffee. Good selection, decent prices for the area, and excellent cakes as well.
M. R.
I went here for brunch while staying at Edinburgh Backpackers next door; the hostel offers a 15% discount at this joint. Let me first say that the inside of this restaurant/cafe is super cute and I love their display of homemade pastries in the window. The menu has plenty of tasty-sounding options.
I liked the food a lot; I had the barbecue chicken wrap, while my girlfriend had the vegetarian breakfast. I had no complaints about either of these dishes, or the coffee.
What I did have a problem with was the service. The girl who greeted and seated us was nice enough, but our waitress was very unfriendly. She could barely muster a "how are you" when we sat down, and seemed completely disinterested in providing a friendly, warm cafe environment. It was difficult to get her attention for tap water, let alone anything else, though she seemed able to pay lots of attention to her boyfriend/partner who also appeared to work there.
It's not a bad place to grab a bite, and the food is yummy enough. Just don't expect great, prompt service or a smile when you come here.
N. N.
This was the highlight of our trip to Edinburgh! Pancakes, royal eggs and eggs Florentine were amazing. Highly recommend it for breakfast.
S. P.
Amazing. We had the salads, which were huge and plentiful. And had cake after.
Everything felt very safe, nice atmosphere and good food.
Thank you so much and keep up the great work.
R. P.
Brilliant only bacon roll and coffee, but maybe the best bacon roll I've had in Edinburgh, decent roll and lots of bacon. Service is excellent. I need to go back and sit in as expect it to be first class experience.
M. S.
Awesome breakfast, nice ambiente and friendly staff.
m. c.
Great way to start the day in Edinburgh. Good value and great tasting food
K. C.
The granola was lovely and so was the tea. Me and my partner sat at a nice little table in the corner. Also they had space for our luggage. I'd say the only downsides were the back room feels a little cramped and the staff kept coming back to check on everyone. I guess this is a policy they have and can be seen as a good thing in case anyone wants to ask for something but to me it kind of felt like I was being watched. But I would love to go again as the quality of food and drink is great.
V. J. C.
Amazing delicious breakfast and perfect coffee. Super sweet staff. Loved it!
M. S.
Sited very nice, just off Northern Bridge and into High Street (Royal Mile) few metres into Southern Cross (Road??). Nice eatings, people, staff, coffees - highly recommend it.
P. V.
A delicious soup of the day and friendly staff. Couldn't resist to order cheese cake after and that was....yummie :)
G. S.
Visited this cafe twice and had excellent experiences on both occasions. Food delicious, staff friendly, and service efficient.
j. h.
Pretty good breakfast, few issues that were sorted. Service was great.
D. M.
This is a wonderful space in Edinburgh, it can get busy but you are treated as if you are friend every time you step through the door.
The cakes in the window are NOT self-service and if they are struggling for space and you feel the urge to take up a table of four, let them know you're happy to share or move to a spot by the window - the staff will love you for it and you will be guaranteed a warm reception when you come back to visit!
B. M.
Fantastic place to go for breakfast or lunch. That good that we ended up going twice over our three day trip to Edinburgh. Great easy to find location. Friendly staff. Plenty of choice on the menu and great coffee. Make sure you turn up early as it gets pretty busy in the morning and can result in you not getting a table. With fresh ingredients and great location, this is a must to visit.
P. W.
Lovely bright and welcoming cafe in the centre of Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was tasty and fresh and the coffee was very good. Good selection of breakfast foods and a nice lunch menu, they had a good choice of homemade cakes too!
I. F.
Nice friendly staff, great service, lovely breakfast , sat outside on a beautiful day would recommend eating here if you are in town
J.
Unusual conversion of an old building into a two level cafe at the top of an outdoor flight of steps from Waverley Station. Coffee and mainly lighter fare including a 'full Scottish' breakfast until 3pm or so. Well patronised on two separate visits. Friendly service. Perhaps a little overpriced but still worth a visit.
L. S.
Very good place for a break. Coffees and light food perfectly crafted.
M. W.
Amazing little cafe. Get in early as it gets busy, but it's our go to every time we visit Edinburgh. Amazing cake and coffee and lovely staff. Highly recommended.
M. A.
We stumbled across this place as we were trying to waste time between shows at the fringe. And I can honestly say that I'm glad we ended up in here. The place was deceivingly bigger than it was from the outside. The food was very good and the choices that were available is pretty good from hot food to cakes. The staff were really friendly and very nice. And if we come back to Edinburgh I will go here again. And I would tell the same to anyone who's looking for something to eat and a chill then definitely recommend here.
L. R.
Stopped here a couple of times during visit to Edinburgh. Carrot cake and the hollumi and roast red pepper salad both absolutely delicious. Staff very friendly, would recommend
C. W.
Absolutely gorgeous little cafe the most delicious home made cakes , the carrot cake and coffee cake were amazing , really good coffee And lovely friendly staff , excellent covid procedures
S. R.
Great breakfast and friendly staff.
M. K. H.
This is such a cozy breakfast spot. The staff are welcoming and the atmosphere is wonderful. We both got lattes that were delicious and I had an egg sandwich that was wonderful. It was a great spot to tuck into before a full day and we enjoyed ourselves!
L. T.
Absolutely delicious food!
L. W.
Cute, delicious, and fast. Reasonable prices. From sitting to ordering to getting our food probably took a grand total of 15 minutes and we didn't have a reservation. The food was great! My fried eggs were cooked perfectly. Worth a visit.
E. K.
Nice and cosy little cafe. We arrived at around 10am on a busy Sunday and there was space for us (group of 8). Food was a tad on the expensive side, but probably not much more expensive than most cafes in Edinburgh. My hot drink was a bit on the cold side, but my food was delicious and everybody was happy with their meal. Great location too next in central Edinburgh and right next to a hostel hopper type place where you can leave your bags (for a fee) or spend the night
M. L.
Cosy atmosphere and good food. Service is friendly but not refined. Toilets ok. We had a super nice brunch, we can recommend the ham and cheese croissant and the eggs Benedicte. All three levels have nice natural light. It was a busy weekend and many people were in with lots of luggage, the service staff was friendly and helpful to make room for everyone and their belongings. Certainly a place to come back.
V. R.
Cozy cafe that is ideal for anyone with a sweet tooth. They have a plethora of sweets and cakes to enjoy with tea and a nice cafe menu. Staff is always friendly and it's located in an ideal spot if you're out exploring the Royal Mile.
I. H.
Excellent black pudding and sausage bap. Nice cup of tea. Great croissant! Service was very fast despite it being a busy Sunday morning. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
J. L.
Friendly and quick Service, really delicious Breakfast and Cappuccino
J. W.
Excellent, friendly service, tasty coffee and delicious cake at a decent price. Would definitely recommend!
J. M.
Lovely breakfast, great haggis and of course the sheer awesomness that is stornoway black pudding
S. R.
Really good service and fun environment. The Bap was really good.
L. M.
Lovely place to have a spot of lunch. Great food and cake options. I also liked that the had oat milk as an alternative with my coffee.
w. o.
The Scottish breakfast was nice but would have been better if served hot. Apart from the sausage and the egg everything else was cold. A pity really as the cafe itself is lovely and the service was good.
D. G.
Fantastic little cafe with very friendly staff. A great selection of cakes and coffees
T. L.
Excellent food (I’ve good the Royal Egg!!) • Friendly and listenning team. Go Go Go !
A. F.
The Belt Buster was soooooo good. A great breakfast spot.
*Edit: went back again two years later. We dreamt about how amazing the food was so when we returned, I was SURE it wasn't as good as when we had it in 2017. I was wrong; it was just as good if not better, no joke. Moved it up to five stars because it's just worth going here.
H. M.
Omg this place is so amazing. We were looking for afternoon tea and this proved to be the best choice made. The waffle is so amazing, with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream at only 3.85, it's a steal. Must try! (We nearly settled for Starbucks but I'm glad we tried to search around for a better cafe at similar price)
R. H.
Bacon sandwich came with loads of bacon and the vege breakfast was apparently really good. Drinks good. All in all, great. I’ll return next time in Edinburgh
M. P.
This place was lively and fun in the evening, and the coffee was good, so we went back for breakfast the following morning. My croissant was stale and cold though my wife's ham and cheese one was OK. we wouldn't recommend it for breakfast.
L. C.
The blueberry pancakes had some bacon oil flavor... Perhaps they should use different pans or clean them more thoroughly. Besides that flavors were pretty good, full Scottish breakfast was good albeit a bit too salty, coffee was good. Big location with lots of space.
E. G.
The food was good. They had lots of choices for breakfast items that were affordable. However, our waitress was quite rude. The rest of the staff were very friendly. I do not think I will visit this restaurant again because of the service, but if there is a different waitress serving, I would be more than willing to return.
R.
Great spot with great people and wonderful breakfast
J. L.
Had the Scottish breakfast. It was ok but not the best. Lots of it but toast could’ve been made from better bread, bacon a bit wet and floppy, egg a bit pale and watery. Speedy, efficient service and friendly enough.
J. T.
One of many bustling cafes in Edinburgh offering a range of breakfast options. I only fancied something small, so I got the croissant, which was freshly baked and came with a big selection of packet jams. The atmosphere inside is informal and staff are both helpful and friendly. Larger breakfast meals were a little more expensive, but the location makes it ideal for a city centre breakfast.
D. S.
Quirky atmosphere and good fresh, homemade feeling food. I had the warm goat's cheese salad and it was sooo filling and comforting. The scones and cakes are amazing in size and quality too. A good stop off for lunch and coffee! There's a bit of a draft, though few placss in Edinburgh don't have one.
h.
Amazing cafe for breakfast. I had the full Scottish. Food was so tasty. Staff are very nice and the service is good. Worth waiting 5 or 10 minutes for a table at busy times.
D. B.
Great foodie place, location is really cool, Cockburn street had several chairs outside places now, big menu and staff were super friendly
F. B.
Great food, friendly staff.
s.
Excellent breakfast spot in Old Town. Full Scottish breakfast is a must. Portions are big so come hungry or be prepared to share. Coffee is great, and the staff so kind.
V. T.
Extremely friendly staff and the food was delicious. Removing a star as I wasn't keen on the coffee but that is probably just personal taste. Everything great other than that.
C. D.
Took 40 minutes for breakfast and was cold on arrival (especially the beans). Sausage had been forgotten and would have preferred the bacon more well done, albeit personal preference. They were super busy though and the staff were lovely.
J. T.
I had breakfast for almost a week when I came in Edinburgh few days ago. The place is cool and it offers a good view both on Cockburn St. and the Royal Mile. I really loved their cappuccinos and flat whites. And cakes as well!
The staff is really friendly and they always offer you a smile.
Bonus point: if you are a guest of Backpapers Hostel (it's just on the next door), you have a 10-15% discount at the Cafe!
B. M.
Two nights in Edinburgh, ate breakfast here the first morning, intended to try another place the second morning but couldn't resist going back to Southern Cross. Great vibe, fantastic coffee, and the best Full Breakfast I encountered in the UK.
E. S.
Staff is very friendly. Good prices for good food, although if you are looking for something posh/organic/healthy I wouldn´t say this is the place to go. On the other hand, if you are looking to have a nice cup of tea and one of their delicious cakes or an english breakfast I definitely recommend!
They also have some tables on the street so if you are lucky and there is a nice weather outside is even better experience.
A. L.
Stopped for a quick coffee - it was a stupendous experience. Tasty and with excellent customer service.
M. M.
Ths cafe is very nice and cosy, the food is also quite good. I honestly think 11 pounds for a full breakfast + almost 3 pounds for tea (which is not included in full breakfast) is too much. Cappuccino costs 3.65, does it really have to be that expensive? It's not even London🙂
K. S.
Nice place, good breakfast and excellent coffe!
A. P.
I even fell in love with the peppermint tea! The Orange and chocolate cake... let's say I can't wait to go back
M. F.
It is very popular within tourists. It can be very busy sometimes and you have to wait for a table. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They have good selections of cakes. Food is just ok I would say. Worth visit if there is a free table.
M. E.
We came to Edinburgh for the first time. We needed breakfast and stumbled upon this little beauty. Was very busy but it was a Saturday. Food was very nice . Coffee was amazing . The staff was very friendly and pleasant. Definitely recommend.
L. O. T. H.
We had just tumbled off an overnight flight from Toronto in the early morning. Southern Cross was the closest and earliest restaurant near our hotel offering a full Scottish breakfast. Black pudding and haggis are a learned taste, but overall the breakfast was large and plentiful. Their Americano coffee was good too.
D. E.
Great breakfast, nice atmosphere
A. B.
Larger than meets the eye cafe. Coffee was very good, but let down a bit by the cakes which were rather dry from sitting in the window. (A shame, as they looked lovely.) Staff very friendly and knocked a bit off the bill as an apology.
M.
Food is good and food pricing is fair. HOWEVER they will charge you a £0.50 penalty for de-caff coffee (regular cup £3.45) and tea (£2.65 for 1 small cup), that costs them no more to buy or to prepare!! Not complaining so much about the cost, as the principle. Hence only 3 stars.
L. C.
I used to think this place was great simply because everybody talks about it on TripAdvisor. There are better, cheaper, tastier and more friendly places in Edinburgh. The Haggis is not the best I had and the waiting time is really bad. I wouldn't recommend it
M. M. O.
Tasty full Scottish breakfast. Good Blueberry pancakes, VERY big portion. Good service, Nice atmosphere, be aware of tiny toilet though.
N. S.
A great traditional Scottish breakfast !
The atmosphere is relaxing, perfect for a Sunday (or another days of the week :))! Plus if you are a vegetarian a scotish breakfast is offered.
The pancakes are more than good & tasty.
Prices are correct without being given for this quality of products.
From breakfast coffee croissants to the more complete Anglo-Saxon, passing by all kinds of pastries, it is the ideal place to have breakfast.
You also have acces to the Wifi and the staff was very nice.
You don't wait a lot to have your lunch. What more ?? :)
J. E.
Best latte i had! And the food... amazing... a small cozy place with friendly staff. We had brunch ordered the Scottish breakfast and pancakes... it all tasted so good
N. M.
Pretty good place overall:
The first thing to say is that it's clearly a place for tourists, not a bad thing per se though
The good:
Great location, warm and friendly customer service, pleasant ambiance, good range of menu options
The not so good:
The food and coffees were warm, but not really hot enough.
Prices are quite high in relation to my perception of the cost of the ingredients. Eggs Benedict was £7.45 - that's fair enough for home cured bacon and an artisanal muffin, but it seemed to me that I had a cheap factory produced muffin and supermarket standard bacon. Well enough prepared though
D. M.
Fantastic wee cafe. Went here for breakfast and loved it, very relaxed atmosphere and great food and coffee on offer. The service was amazing and prices are reasonable. Only slight criticism is that due to the shape of the building the sitting arrangements were a bit squeezed with constant people walking past. However highly recommended nonetheless.
M. B.
Nice atmosphere few metres from Royal Mile. The food, and the coffee, are amazing, highlighted for the Scottish breakfast, in it's both versions, vegetarian and the meat one. The super friendly staffs will make you feel really welcome.
K. R.
I’ve been having breakfast at the Southern Cross for years and years when staying in Edinburgh for my annual Fringe Festival trip.
It’s perfect in almost every way, with just one nagging issue. Please, for God’s sake... Will someone train the staff how to clean a table when clearing up? It really bugs me that my arms, elbows and cup/glass resist being lifted from the table!!!
Apart from that pet hate, this is my favourite place for a consistently good meal.
C.
Food and coffee was amazing. The menu choice is brilliant and the location is also great, just off the main street where it isn't too busy but very close to the centre. One of the nicest cafe's in Edinburgh.
H. C.
Fantastic little find and surprisingly large inside so plenty of seating. Food was delicious - we had egg and mushroom bap. Very very friendly and smiley staff who go out their way to help.
B. H.
What a Great place for Breakfast. Went back the 2nd day and ordered Quesadilla. Surprised that it lacked the ingredients for a Quesadilla. It was bland to say the least about it.
But I would recommend the Southern Cross. Busy but worth the wait!!
A. B.
Tea and carrot cake served by friendly staff just off the Royal Mile. Nice.
J. A.
Frequent visitor of this cafe. The staff are friendly and the interior is nicely decorated. The food tastes lovely and is reasonably priced. Only downside is that bills cannot be split.
J. S.
Dropped in for refreshments while wandering around Edinburgh. We found cold beer, quick and friendly service, good wine. What more could we ask for 😊
A. B.
Delicious Scottish breakfast served until 1130am accompanied by excellent espresso. Great value and service too.
S. L.
Great coffee + delicious pancake! awesome cafe.
R.
Amazing atmosphere, nice staff but they appeared overwhelmed and couldn’t attend to everyone’s needs in a timely manner, they may have been down a team member. The food was simple, presented okay and tasted good. However not the best value for money. Coffee was delicious.
J. O.
Nice little cafe. Very helpful and friendly staff and great drinks and food
F. B.
Great coffee ☕
s. c.
Best cafe in Edinburgh . Supportive Friendly staff.. I have tested cake.. Delicious ..
D. M.
Extremely Lovely Staff and excellent service, food is amazing. Very good value for money
G. Z.
Really small cafe in the heart of Edinbrough. You can have your coffee or sweets or a full Scottish breakfast. Worth it a visit in a cold morning in Edinbrough. There are also some tables outside if you're a smoker. We visited once after someone from the hotel reccomended to us.
M. Y.
Absolutely delicious eggs royale! Great venue for breakfast.
L. L.
I had the blueberry stackers and a mocha, both were great. The location is very convenient, right off the Royal Mile. Great atmosphere. The staff are very nice. Over all, it's an A+.
P. M. d. O.
Great taste coffe and a little pricy
T. H.
Their pasta of the day when we went, was bacon penne. Delicious. And I was a bit annoyed by the fact that three separate waiters came up and asked me, while I was still eating, how the pasta was. But they were just trying to be nice, so 5 stars.
M. P.
This is where we learned what rocket is.
This is where they learned about arugula. ♥️🏴
B. A.
Great breakfast and lunch here. Friendly staff and quick service. Would be nice to have pot of tea rather than just a cup for the price.
N. G.
Lovely place and staff! Went there two times in a row while visiting Edinburgh and absolutely loved it!
E. C.
Really nice food with excellent portion sizes. Cakes looked amazing too. Fairly cheap, with friendly staff
V. F.
Cute little cafe, perfect for breakfast. They have reasonable prices and good food, unlike other places in the area selling industrial greasy junk.
They have a deal with the hostel next door so if you're staying there make sure to ask for the 15% discount :)
S. H.
Very close to the station you'll find this wonderful place just off the royal mile. Always a warm greeting, we came in for a drink and a small snack and it was very nice. Hearty breakfasts and brunch on the menu too.
K. J.
Warm welcome, lovely menu full of mouthwatering options. I had the haggis speciality, my other half a fruit scone. We were not disappointed scrummy. We also endulged in a slice of caramel cake and citrus. All washed down with tea and Earl Grey. Fab.
A. W.
Decidedly average lunch, unfortunately. As can be expected, very busy because of its location but there are worse places you could end up. Good cakes are its saving grace.
L. S. R. o. R. M.
I usually order the vegetarian breakfast because the delicious veggy haggis...and then add meat sausages or bacon on the side! Great value and location, i recommend it to all my guests.
R. C.
Whilst there are cheaper places in town for breakfast I do enjoy going to the Southern Cross Cafe for a Scottish fry up, with haggis of course, from time to time. The location is nice too on Cockburn Street. The coffee is nice too.
S. C.
Excellent cafe food. Excellent service. Paying attention to detail in both customer service and the present C-19 restrictions.
M. C.
Fantastic breakfast when stepping off the sleeper train from London. Good coffee as well. I recalled I had had lunch in the same place a few years earlier which was also good from memory.
E.
Great spot for breakfast!
M. K.
I had a really good time, the waiter and waitress was lovely and their cakes was just ridiculously good 🥰
C. F.
Breakfast of champions. Mildly on the rpicey side, but then again, this is Edinburgh we're talking about. Delicious full scottish breakfast and a matching veggie one. Great for a good start to a day exploring castles and hills!
D. P.
Brunch was generous but cold. Otherwise staff lovely and other food, such as their wide selection of home made cakes, really yummy.
D. C.
I only stopped for a coffee, it was okay. I was a bit annoyed they only take card payments of £5 minimum, it is a coffee shop and most people only use cards these days. It felt unreasonable and became and inconvenience as I had to leave to get cash out.
E. D.
Good food ✅
Friendly And jolly staff ✅
Beautiful coffee ✅
Overall just an amazing experience and would definetly recommend eating there!
N. W.
Lovely cafe, such friendly staff, food choices are fantastic, homemade cakes and scones, absolutely delicious, highly recommended.
J. G.
Excellent food and drink, staff were really nice and welcoming. Great for a hot drink and piece of cake.
L. D.
Lovely breakfast and great service. I had the blueberry pancakes (delicious) and my OH had the full Scottish. Set us up for the day ahead!
J. M.
Quite possibly the best espresso I've had. Combine that very friendly staff, great atmosphere and very good music and you've got a great place to chill and hangout. Plus the food is amazing too.
E. P.
So so nice Cafe!
J. &. D. B. F.
Great food and fast service. Eggs Benedict was delicious and savour your time and have a nice treat after while you enjoy the atmosphere.
S. 3. V.
Barista making lovely by test and by view coffe. Staff friendly and responcive.Hand made carrot cake was nice. Other cake looking beautiful
b.
Breakfast heaven! I had pancakes and pouched eggs and a hot chocolate...
Ambiente, Service, Food, Drinks 10/10
C. C.
Delicious porridge for breakfast with a flat white. Friendly service, close to Edinburgh Waverley station. Would definitely come again!
S. C.
Amazing staff and excellent food
A.
Great coffee, brilliant vegetarian breakfast, and lovely staff. We ended up going every day to eat as it's such a cosy, welcoming place on a freezing day. We will be back!
T. S.
Great food, friendly staff and a lovely cafe!
J. V.
Fantastic breakfast, perfect scrambled eggs. I’m coming back this afternoon for cake and another one of those delicious cafe lattes.
E. C.
Nice and cozy coffee shop in the heart of the Old Town.
I suggest a visit, especially on a cold winter evening to have a coffee... and a cake?... while taking a relaxed glimpse on people passing by
Z. S.
They have the best carrot cake in the Edinburgh!! Love it!!
M. W.
Really nice food. Also nice community of people. Surprised such a nice independent place exists just off the royal mile. Forget the commercial overpriced stuff on royal mile, nip 50 yards to here!
9.
Lovely little find on Cockburn St, great coffee, customer service was excellent.
S. G. P.
Cosy wee cafe, well located in Edinburgh city centre, by the castle. They serve food and have alcohol license. Staff is very friendly.
A. P.
Love this place and the fantastic cakes that they prepare❤ 100% recommended
W. L.
Friendly staff with a good choice of dishes on the menu. Blueberry pancakes were fantastic and tasty.
M. M.
Nice warm place to be and eat some of the cakes they made, the velvet cake is one of the best I tried, the lemonade pistachio cake is tasty as the orange with chocolate cake, I highly recommend it both of them, know for the bad part, if you ask for lemonade they will wife you 7up or lemon sweeps and not what a lemonade is and there is only one bathroom for men however they can in 2 people it will be uncomfortable if you want to get out, they have a five star cakes with accessible prices, a little bit expensive if you came from euros.
L. H.
Great find. Just what we needed
C. W.
Yummy food and quick service. The staff are friendly. Not much atmosphere but good for tasty food and a decent coffee!
P. S.
Nice service and cosy place in the centre of Edinburgh. However, poached eggs for breakfast were tasty but not runny.
H. A.
Delicious food and kind people. "Best cake in Edinburgh". Asked them about the ingredients and they were very helpful.
J. C.
Lovely little place. Fantastic breakfasts! Well worth a visit.
K. K.
It's ok
H. K.
Lovely place very nice staff and excellent food. Highly recommended 👌
C. G.
Great coffee, friendly staff and delicious breakfast. You'll get a 15% discount if you stay in the hostel next to the cafe.
R. G.
The cafe is lovely, the service is fast and the food is delicious. The portions are on the small side but the prices are reasonable.
J. B.
Delicious coffee with a Fantastic selection of light yet filling lunch sandwiches and other meals. Cool little cafe with a great atmosphere.
M. F.
Homemade cakes and good coffee.
Lovely decoration.
J. J.
Eggs benedict was good, first time I tried it so I have nothing to compare it with. Cappuccino wasn't the best especially if you like it strong. Friendly staff.
A. κ.
Great staff lovely waitress.
M. O.
Nice staff and atmosphere, a little pricy but portions are on the big side, excellent coffee!!
C. V.
Nice little café, with a perfect menu. Food was tasty and staff attentive. Nice place for a quick lunch!
L. D.
This is a good place to go and get breakfast. The staff is friendly, the service fast and the veggie haggis is fantastic!
A. G.
The stuff and the food was very good. It's a very cozy place to have a coffee or food. The prices might be slowly lower.
M. G.
Excellent cafe, great cakes
S. J.
Food was excellent, with fast service and get surroundings.
J. M.
Excellent food and drink. The staff are simply among the best we have seen - friendly, fast and fun.
J. J.
Great place just 2 minutes up the stairs in front of Waverly Station. Serving breakfasts, tea, Coffee etc. Good friendly service. Can sit inside or out.
鄧.
won't say it was amazing but as homely breakfast goes, this is it. had blueberry pancakes, absolutely loved it.
S. W.
Not a bad place, very busy but a bit pricy for what was actually served. I had salmon on bread with lettuce, a little disappointed at what I got.
B. W.
Scottish Breakfast at its finest.
Good service all round.
B. S.
Great cafe! Surprisingly bigger than it looks from outside. All I can say is the food and cakes are amazing 👍 worth the money
K. M.
Great tasting coffee and cakes in a wonderful location
C. P.
Coffee roast not to my taste but quality. End of a busy day & staff a little "tired" however excellent cake.
K. C.
Nice place for a Scottish breakfast! Great coffee. Staff were friendly.
C. B.
This place is great for a quick breakfast, with friendly staff, and good prices. I had the blue berry stackers and they were amazing.
K. D.
The food is great, the beer is local, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed with not disturbing background music. Simply a good choice to enjoy.
G. C. T.
Best place for a breakfast. Simply amazing
O. C.
Amazing pancakes and very friendly staff. If the weather allows it eating outside makes the meal even better.
J. T.
Our favourite cafe in Edinburgh! Great breakfast and coffee, lovely interior and amazing flair
s. d.
Breakfast here is awesome. Service is friendly, atmosphere is also great. Enjoy!!
M. S.
Always enjoy coming here when I am in Edinburgh and have never had anything to complain about
P. V.
Located off the Royal mile with lovely selection of cakes. Friendly staff.

D. B.
Everything about this place is excellent, especially the latte's! Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, good music, outstanding coffee and food.
B. F.
Very friendly, lovely atmosphere, top cup of coffee and a very good Scottish breakfast. Highly recommended!
J. W.
One of my favourite places for brunch in Edinburgh. Great location and always good service.
B. S.
Delicious breakfast! Could find variety of cakes
C. O.
Nice spot, friendly staff, good food but have to knock it down for extortionate pricing. E.g. £12 for a sandwich. That's a bit ridic.

A cosy cafe. Nice food selection but a bit on the expensive side, though it is understandable with a great location.

Fantastic and very friendly service in the Old Town. The best way to eat and drink every day. Ask for Rodrigo and enjoy with the best manager´s cafe to Edimburg.

Eat breakfast here. The pancakes are excellent. It's a welcome oasis in a desert of terrible Scottish food.
