Reviews of The Chaumer

A cozy and relaxed place - a bit hesitant to give 5* because: 1) they claim they are a "Fine Wine" place while serving just a couple of the most basic wines you can imagine; 2) service is a bit too slow; 3) there is no wot water in the toilets :D

Had a fantastic afternoon snack here. Huge, yummy smoothie and coffee.
Very friendly service. Beautiful decor- natural/elegant/whimsical/fun historic pieces. Highly recommend. And its across the street from a big garden.

Delightful bistro tea room offering splendid drinks and food . Also they have a very good and attentive team , well done to them as it made our visit unforgettable. The homemade cakes were exquisite x

Nice interior, friendly, but a bit slow service. Menu at lunchtime is very limited. Three of our party had toasties or avocado on toast and everyone of the toast was burnt. You have to get toast right to get an above average score.

What a find! Coffee=delicious, cake=amazingly delicious, staff=absolutely lovely and down to earth.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Kudos to whoever designed the cafe!

I’ve been looking to try their scones for aggges..
Real disappointment, scones were dry and tasteless, and no clotted cream!

Absolutely beautiful Tea House with delicious food, great tea selection and nice staff. We really enjoyed it- highly recommend it.

Love dropping in here for some balanced lunch. In today’s case a Venison Pie balanced with a Beetroot and Rocket Salad. Food is always tasty. Great selection of teas and for those lunches where you can some wine to hand too.

Absolutely love this little tea house. Very elegant without being pretentious. Lovely antique furnitures and decorations. The overall decor is spot on as well, loved every minute of being there. Menu was limited when we visited but the sandwiches and tea we had were delicious. Very quiet even on a Saturday during lunchtime. And did I mention the prices were very reasonable!

Attended a lovely intimate wedding at this venue and it was absolutely beautiful! The decor, food and most importantly all the staff were absolutely wonderful and made everyone feel so at ease, cannot recommend this place enough. Cannot wait to visit again next time I’m in the area 😍

We stayed at the Chaumer in November 2019. It was our first time in Edinburgh and the team at the Chaumer made us feel so welcome as soon as we came through the doors. The Abide is a stunning, sensational and romantic getaway set in the beautiful Georgian new town of Edinburgh and offered us a wonderful base to explore the city. The food was amazing and so were the lovely staff. We still talk about our stay at the Chaumer to this day and recommend it with great enthusiasm to friends, family and anyone else who is looking for a first class visit to Edinburgh. A truly magical stay that will be with us forever.

Small bistro offering a fine selection of freshly made meals and snacks. Under normal circumstances, they have an interesting wine list as well as good coffee, tea and soft drinks.

What a delightful place. Redolent of a more gentle paced easy going time. Food is modern, well thought out, well presented, locally sourced and unashamedly unhurried. Comfortable amiable surroundings and everything friendly to boot. Converted men's shop quietly tucked away in Queens Street just far enough away from the mayhem of George Street if not all the vehicular traffic. Liked it very much.

Loved this place. This tiny "chaumer" is filled with passion for tea, wines, food and of course Scotland. It invites you to stay and have a rest. The atmosphere is amazing.... like being in a cozy living room in a foreign city....
Been there several nights and enjoyed it so much... the service, the tea, the pastries, the tartes, the atmosphere and the conversations.
A MUST-DO in Edinburgh... hope to come back some time

The Chaumer is relatively new, but it feels like an essential part of Edinburgh already. It's all easy-going charm and thoughtful little touches – the platters are delicious, the drinks are served in the prettiest glasses, and you won't find friendlier staff anywhere. Definitely try the pickled grapes along with your artisan cheeses! Total revelation. It goes without saying, I'll be back...

Gorgeous wee cafe - both time I've been so far it's been brilliant. The freshly made cake it yum and the atmosphere is great. Love the decor too!

What a wonderful find in the beautiful Queen Street, Edinbugh. The Chaumer is just exquisite and the coffee, hot chocolate, scones and jam were a welcome treat after a long journey from Australia. The service is warm and friendly and the aesthetics of the interior is devine. I’ll be visiting frequently during my trip in Edinburgh and plan to return for lunch this week.

(Translated) Sweet little cafe, probably also wine bar, with tasty small dishes. Very nicely prepared. The second visit noticed that the manager looks very condescending. Maybe that will happen.
