The reviews about the best English Breakfast in Edinburgh are right. It was great. Plus the team was very nice, the day when we were there was my birthday they gave me a brownie as a gift for my birthday plus we also got a very good insider tip where to go elsewhere in Edinburgh 😊
P. K.
Can’t say enough good things about the larder! My partner and I visited over Valentines weekend and had the loveliest brunch here! A few things were out of stock but our lovely waiter practically bent over backwards to give us alternatives and help out with dietary restrictions! Our food was genuinely delicious and my smoked haddock hash was one of the best brunch items I ’ve ever had! Coffee was great and even though we were a bit late to sit down due to a mix up with a different booking, at no point did we feel rushed or stressed. We’ll be *running* back here the next time we’re in Edinburgh! ❤️
M. J.
The eggs Florentine were incredible. For the price you pay I feel like the portions were a bit small, but the taste is worth it. Also super nice staff. The coffee tastes amazing.
V. B.
We had an amazing time as the Edinburgh Larder for breakfast! The food was some of the best breakfast food I've ever had (my partner got the "Hash" and it was...just amazing) and the staff were incredibly lovely. Can't wait to go back again next time I'm in Edinburgh!
J. B.
The best poached egg dishes, bacon, and sausage. Can't say enough about The Edinburgh Larder. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The food was amazing.

Lin the morning we had to go out for breakfast as the hotel kitchen is being refurbished. So we had a look at places to eat at. The first two.we came across which where both not open so ended up here.
I think luck was on our side.
The place was amazing great vibe to the place, great background music. Was busy.
Staff was very friendly.
This is the place to go for breakfast in Edinburgh.
So I had the full breakfast which looked and tasted amazing. My partner had the vegan breakfast. Both dishes where the best breakfast we have had In a good while.
Plus they even sell the ketchup. You will know what I am on about once you go there.
Was that good we are going again.
Thank you guys for great food.
N. K.
Wow they have long cues on the weekends! You can luckily make a reservation, but we hadn’t, and didn’t wait for too long. Be aware that there is a seperate queue for non-reservations, so make sure you’re in the right one to not waste time. Had the veggie breakfast and eggs royale, which are served in metal lunchboxes. Cute, but not the nicest to eat from. Food was delicious, and good sized portions as well. Classic trendy place brunch prizes, but worth it in my opinion. Staff was very nice aswell.
H.
Went twice and had the veggie breakfast and eggs royal. Absolutely fab! They cater to gluten-free diet. I would love to attend a baking class to learn how to make the gluten-free toast if there is one in the future.
A. B.
Fab breakfasts, great coffee and lovely service. Just make sure you book in advance if you can or expect to wait even on a weekday. Was tempted to dock a star for the lack of brown sauce, but apparently it’s only temporary…😅. Food image is partially consumed by the way….

I did want to put a picture of the fantastic breakfast we had at the Edinburgh Larder, but as soon as it arrived it looked so awesome that we tucked in! It was absolutely delicious and the coffee was also awesome. It looks to be a very popular place, and I can understand why due the tasty food and fabulous service from the extremely friendly staff. But don't take my word for it, go and visit yourself!

The best cafe in Edinburgh, hands down. Delicious food and drink, friendly family like atmosphere all near the scenic Royal Mile.
D. W.
A centrally located place to sample a full Scottish breakfast. It was clear they sourced their ingredients well and the food was well presented. Be aware, there’s two locations next door to each other, one for bookings and one for walk-ins. Can get quite busy at weekends.
S. W.
Absolute little gem. Food is delicious! Next door is available if you haven’t booked. The same menu and same service.
Great way to start the day.
We will be back 😋
C.
Came here for breakfast and we were not disappointed! The sausages were delicious and great portion sizes. Really friendly staff. Can’t wait to
come back.
K. S.
Cozy cafe with plenty of choices. Excellent full Scottish breakfast, porridge, coffees and teas. Friendly staff, good location. Reservations recommended, so plan ahead.
A. R.
We visited Edinburgh Larder for breakfast and it was excellent. I had the Full Scottish but my wife wanted something not on their menu. They were extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommended.
F. B.
Very cozy, good food (so fresh and yummy and fulfilling) and good service, what more could we ask for ? :)
M. R.
A couple of friends we came here looking for a café that offers vegan but also normal dishes.
I never had tried the poached eggs so I try the benedictin eggs and was amazing.
In the other hand, the vegan full breakfast and the normal full breakfast were amazing aswell.
One thing that was quite strange is that they put the dishes in plastic Tupper, this is because they use the restaurant (which is next to the café) to make the food.
The level and the quality of the food was in my opinion high but the plastic trays give you a strange feeling.
Anyway, is anecdotal, everything was perfect, the coffee was made very well, following the same quality of the food, quite busy at weekends and the prices quite high, but is good food sensory experience.
I will repeat.
H.
Had a lovely breakfast (the apple waffle). We hadn't booked but they managed to get us a table for 6 after waiting less than 20 minutes. Very kind staff!
D. C.
Such a good breakfast place! The eggs florentine was so good and filling. The oat matcha latte was quite watered down and you can’t really taste the matcha. Service is good. A good experience 😊
J.
Outstanding breakfast & coffee, all made with high quality ingredients. Shared a full Scottish & eggs royale; the latter probably preferred but both excellent. Very friendly & efficient service.
It’s a small, busy place so book ahead - it’s popularity is well justified.

Its been a while since the vegetarian and I 'got out'. So we ventured to the Burgh of Edin.
Breakfast on day 1 was booked at the Edinburgh Larder.
And book ahead you Must.
We walked up the hill to the restaurant and there was already a queue at 8:30am.
This was a great sign of things to come.
We were taken to our table, there are 7 or 8 available, and given a moment to settle. A good brekkie was required as our next stop was Arthur's Seat...
The vegetarian got her Decaf/Oatmeal/Americano on and I had a tea, because I like tea.
Food wise it was all about the full breakfast (see pic). There was a full veggie and full vegan options too.
My eyes, and belly, couldn't see past this but there were lots of other choices available.
We devoured it all (The homemade baked beans were delicious!) and I forgot to ask what spice was in them.....
Finally, the Team as a whole in here are absolutely fantastic.
This place has to be on your to do list.
서.
The food was excellent! I think the English breakfast was one of the best I have ever eaten in the UK.
C. C.
Very good food. We had the full breakfast and hash. Each component of the two dishes were well made and seemed to have been given detailed attention. Our cappuccinos also had some of the most expertly foamed milk I've had in a while - the microfoam barely popped and was like whipped cream. Very impressed! Lovely waiters who although were very busy, were attentive.
R. F.
Amazing as always! Lovely staff, food, decor and music. If I were being super picky I would just say that the beans were luke warm but everything else was perfect. Thank you for another super experience 😊 I'm such a fan that I even bought a bag!
莊.
Focaccia is great, I like the bread which is crispy and rich of cheese flavour, red pepper is better than I expected cuz I usually don't eat pepper. The salad is fresh and tasty, good combination. I like the beans (?).
The pic is just half servings cuz me and my friend shared it.
Matcha latte is smooth, warm with good flavour.
Staff is nice, environment is cozy, highly recommended 👍💖
Btw I like the toilet also lol
M. K.
It s my first visit to scotland and i wanted ro eat something traditional and the place was really up to it. Though we didn t have a reservation we manage to get in. The stuff was very helpful
M. S.
Visiting Edinburgh for a few days and looking for local dining experiences. This was absolutely fantastic variety of food, catering to many different dietary requirements. The food was divine, service exceptional with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good selection of loose teas and excellent coffee. I was thoroughly recommend this restaurant in all aspects. Thank you!
J. K.
Oh this was simply amazing. Great food, smashing fresh orange juice and delightful coffee. Totally recommended and throughly lovely staff.
M. D.
Googled "best breakfast in Edinburgh" and I was not disappointed. We were seated right in front of the kitchen and the smell of the food was incredible. All of the staff were super friendly and everything about this place was great. Amazing food for a very reasonable price, if you're visiting the city you need to come here at least once.
Y. P.
Came in without a reservation and they accepted us for a short time without a problem!
The products are fresh and delicious!
The espresso is ok considering the area and how much they care about espressos
The server really tried to help me out with my food even though I’m problematic and found a solution!
S. C.
Fantastic place to eat. Great gluten free options. Staff was very helpful, friendly, and allergy aware. Would highly recommend!
z. m.
Amazing vegan breakfast! Really pleasantly surprised by the veggie haggis. Service was wonderful. Highly recommended.
J. G.
Found this place by accident after getting fed up trawling the Royal Mile, and what a find. The staff were great which always makes a huge difference.
We started with a chai latte and a tumeric latte - perfectly steamed milk and lovely flavours. The menu was small but tempting and the food was good - we had breakfast rolls, mine with really tasty veggie haggis.
We decided we had to try some cake too, and their Americano. Carrot cake and apricot and marmalade slice (as sweet as I was warned!!) were both lovely. We were even given the last scone for free which was a lovely gesture.
I would definitely head for the Larder again next time we are over the border.
C. M.
Fantastically tasty food served in a quirky tin dish. Lovely coffee too. Time it right, save yourself a long wait and you're in for a treat.
F. A.
I came here for my 18th birthday in 2018, and yesterday for my friend’s 23rd birthday. I am not exaggerating when I say the food was DELICIOUS, and tasted so high quality and fresh. The eggs were perfectly done and the veggie haggis tasted better than the normal haggis I had on Burns night! Staff were absolutely lovely and gave us free cake. Water was always filled up without us having to ask. Perfect location and such wholesome and homely interior; made me cheerful and relaxed just being in there. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
J. P.
My partner and I had been meaning to come to this place on our holiday here and it didn’t disappoint! Lovely full and veggie breakfasts complimented with a lovely pot of tea and very kind, attentive staff. A particular highlight was the veggie haggis which we weren’t expecting to be so good! Lovely quiet place to hunker down while we waited for our train home. Definitely recommend!
A. H.
Excellent food! Real breakfast, tasty and in the right portion.
Excellent service, the lady was adorable!!
Only unfortunate point is that in the place next door food is served in plastic boxes. But its what it takes to be seated in this very nice cafe!
D. S.
Perfect place for brunch! A light and airy feel to the place but, above all else, the food is amazing. Local, quality ingredients, cooked to order.
Great location, just off the Royal Mile (High Street). Definitely worth booking in advance to avoid having to queue outside.
M. H.
Great food, exceptional service, everyone was so very friendly. Tea was lovely.
J. d.
Good breakfast served differently. Enjoyed our visit. Service was good as was the coffee.
A. P.
Best breakfast I've ever had! It was so tasty I forgot to take pictures, sorry. Lovely service, smiley staff and big variety of hot/cold drinks. You won't regret it!
K. K.
We visited this place for breakfast and i had the full English breakfast. I must say it was lacking flavour, the egg was good quality, bacon ok and sausage was poor cheap quality. Coffee was OK. The service is great and staff are really friendly. Later in the day i got really bad stomach aches, which i can only attribute to this meal. I don't see why this place has such good reviews, but avoid the full English breakfast if you go.
D. H.
We stopped in here for a breakfast before heading further afield and it was a great breakfast. There was a lot of choice, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food we had. The staff were pleasant and attentive, even though the place was packed, we can thoroughly recommend this place for a very enjoyable breakfast! 😁
G. C.
The best brunch I’ve had whilst in Edinburgh. Serving portions 👌 Food taste and quality 👌 on the pricey side but worth every dime. Definitely recommended to everyone who comes to Edinburgh and looking for an early to late morning fixes.
J. S.
Absolutely love the ambiance at this place! And the veggie breakfast: the flavors, variety and portion was great!
S. C.
Myself and my partner arrived, without a booking, and were welcomed warmly. (Would highly recommend booking as it was a busy place!) Service was top class. Food came out quick and was absolutely delicious!
I don't ordinarily give 5 stars ratings but I really could not fault a thing! Will definitely be returning.
Also - the bourbon bread pudding was fantastic!
N. N.
Lovely food, lovely staff and very cozy atmosphere. Good quality of the food
Z. G.
Me and my partner went here due to a recommendation on Sorted foods youtube video and we're so glad we did! We were fed up of English breakfasts so opted for the porridge and oh my gosh we loved it! lovely location and lovely staff too, will definitely be visiting again next time we visit Edinburgh.
N. B.
Lovely, lovely place and great staff. Really nice breakfast, a slightly different take on a full Scottish with non-brand beans and fancy sausages! It was very tasty, would go again.
S. Z.
We were quickly seated on a busy Sunday (2 of us), staff were very kind and we didn't feel rushed at all. The kitchen was very efficient, not rushed, just done well. All the food was incredible, couldn't fault any of it. 10/10 incredible
C. R. O.
Wonderful little cafe! The staff were really friendly, helpful and the service was super quick.
The coffee here is delicious & the jugs of water ready to go on the tables were much appreciated!
My girlfriend had the hash, and it was just amazing! The Scottish platter was absolutely delicious, too.
It's a little on the pricier side, but 100% feels worth paying it for the quality of the food!
Will be recommending to everyone!! Thanks so much!
M. B.
A top little breakfast place. Very popular. The full breakfast was great and even catered for gluten free.
C. R.
Had a great lunch here! The “Little Larder” extension is a bit unusual : drinks are made in their kitchen but food is served via takeaway containers as the main kitchen is in the main premises one door away. But, you still get plates, and it’s no less delicious.
S. M.
Excellent veggie breakfast (potato scones were divine!) and the service was friendly. Really good coffee and a nice trendy vibe with the food served in metal boxes. Definitely recommend it!
P. R.
The place is cozy and nicely planned.
The food is delicious, made with fresh and of great quality ingredients.
The staff were exceptional and very professional.
The coffee was one of the best cuppas I ve had for days, creamy, tasty and at the right temperature as the cappuccino should be.
Also not to forget that The carrot cake was the best I have ever tried! So fresh that it was melting in the mouth. The zingy flavour of the carrot with a tangy orange combined with the light cream were like an explosion of taste in the mouth.
K.
Great place and delicious food. We went to the one next door, which is an extension of the main cafe and gets their food in heated containers from next door. The food was so good, had the veggie breakfast which was very high quality. The coffee wasn't the best but the food made up for it. Staff friendly and lovely atmosphere.
k. b.
Loads of staff, clean, food cooked to order. Great coffee and Eggs Royale. Kids menu available, waffles were excellent. Recommended you book as it is very popular.
M. K.
We had such a lovely time here! The ingredients are so fresh and everything was perfectly cooked. The staff were super friendly and polite, which made our experience here even better. Will definitely be returning here when I can.
T. H.
Great breakfast. Fresh squeezes orange juice. Wonderful eggs Benedict and waffles. Small quaint seating. Recommend reservations or getting there when they open at 8 (8:15ish)
R. A.
Excellent. The porridge was delicious, really recommend it.
D. M.
Amazing place. Superb staff and without a doubt the best breakfast I've ever eaten. If you're in Edinburgh you must give this place a try, but make sure you book as it's understandably popular.
A. C.
Excellent food served in a large tin. Would have breakfast here next time we visit.
Staff were nice and friendly, with quick service considering how busy they were.
D. H.
This was a yum, and welcoming spot to stop for lunch.
Everything had great flavour, and was something a little bit different to the usual on offer. Nice flavour combinations and very fresh tasting ingredients.
It was a little limited for choice on the menu for lunch, with not that many options. But what was available was good quality and all meals were finished happily.
E. H.
1st time visit and was so pleased my son had booked this for us. Food was local and fresh. I had the full breakfast. Everything was delicious. I normally need some brown sauce.... No need. The other dishes outstanding. So much so we booked again for tomorrow
M. H.
We shared a Spiced Apple Waffle and Eggs Benedict. Possibly the best waffle I have ever eaten. My wife loved the eggs Benedict, and we enjoyed the Matcha and Turmeric lattes.
O.
A genuinely well curated experience with a well priced and thought out menu. The vibe as you eat is perfect, the food is well sourced and the ingredients are excellent.
Get the hash. Thank me later.
c. m.
Good place to go for a breakfast. Really nice cafe, lovely staff. On the higher side of my price range but the quality was there in the food.
M. C.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Edinburgh Larder yesterday morning (18/03/22) around 9am; I was greeted at the door and seated immediately with no issues, the staff were polite, friendly and attentive. The food, however, was sublime; in my whole 22 years of living in Edinburgh I have never experienced a full Scottish breakfast made to their standard. Every ingredient was perfect, the only (subjective) criticism I have is that the tattie scone was baked/heated rather than fried, yet that is simply my preference; personally, I feel that this fits the remit of their style, unlike most full Scottish breakfasts whereby they’re doused in cooking oil. 10/10, I will definitely be visiting again; thank you to the staff for such a pleasant start to my Friday.
M. N.
Adult family group with a dog that was well catered for. Lots of choice for Meat eaters / veggies / vegans etc plus the dog got a bowl of water. Went for breakfast and it set us up for the day - book ahead to avoid queuing - plus the orange juice really is freshly squeezed!
E. H. (. P.
A perfect brunch for a perfect day. This place is all you need for lovely experience, good service and amazing food.
Good variety for your tastebuds, the soup of the day with nice spices get’s you going. Really nice sandwiches with also visual appeal works as a perfect combo. The pie is really traditionally done and taste was unbelievable. The eggs were poached flawlessly.
It was really hard to find anything to complain, maybe the timing from the kitchen could have been improved, but is was no biggie.
Definitely worth going, 5/5 with no doubts there!
A. M.
What a hidden gem just off the royal mile , don't be confused by the little shop next door called the little Edinburgh larder it's all the same business , same food same kitchen it's extra seating, which we were able to walk straight in and get seated. Ordered full breakfast and eggs Benedict royale, the smoked salmon was amazing, the whole experience was just faultless, the staff were quick and friendly and most of all the food quality was 5*
Will be returning again & again when we visit Edinburgh
S. M.
The vegan breakfast was AMAZING. The service is very good
Q. V.
I got myself a Hash which is so tasty. The smoked salmon was not too overpowering, my eggs were poached nicely and the seasoning of the potato was on point. My bf got an All English Breakfast and what impressed me on his plate was the baked beans. I hate baked beans but this one is so nicely cooked and seasoned properly that it tasted so good!
J. T.
Fantastic brunch spot. Came with some friends and the food was top notch. Great coffee and bloody mary was delicious. Service also fantastic. Highly recommend.
J. H.
Amazing food and staff. Exceptional Bloody Mary!
w. s.
Amazing breakfast, get here at opening time!
Gluten free bread available
W. H.
Good and full brunch with reasonable price! The setting of the restaurant is cozy and the staff is really friendly! It can get quite busy around noon; it’s a popular place.
Smoky salmon and liquid egg is my favorite! The classic Scottish breakfast is rich and fulfilling:) It’s a very good place to meet up friends and have brunch together~ Will definitely visit again.
R. H. (.
It was very busy, we were waiting in queue about 30 minutes, but it was worth it! Fresh and really tasty food from Scottish trusted sources. I've really liked map showing from where some of ingredients are come from. Great place for breakfast or lunch. We will definitely visit next time while in Edinburgh!
L. A.
Tasty breakfast
The service is amazing. They were all so kind 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
B. P.
An amazing little place. Breakfast was excellent and staff attentive. Would highly recommend, but pre-book for breakfast as it gets busy.
A. C.
Had a fantastic breakfast in here. Really, really bloody tasty. Staff were all lovely too. Will be back next time we're in Edinburgh!
R. C.
Super friendly staff, crazy busy, small… I hate at the Little Larder ( next door ) … the whole “eating in a plastic box” wasn’t very pleasing. Food was ok, eggs Florentine were very tasty.
A. H.
We came here for breakfast on our last morning in Edinburgh as the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. We hadn't booked but we were lucky enough to get a table without having to wait, I say lucky because the place was full by the time we left, it's clearly very popular.
Both of us had a sausage, egg and cheese bap and a cappuccino. The sausage was very tasty and seemed like very high quality, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the cheese was nicely melted.
The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent despite how busy they were. It's easy to see why this place is so highly rated and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
L. H.
My girlfriend and I had a very lovely brunch this morning! The service was top quality and food was fantastic, my girlfriend had to undo the top button of her jeans after being so full! The music in the background was also great! It sound-tracked the amazing brunch perfectly. A wonderful experience.
J.
Excellent food with beautiful high-quality ingredients and welcoming staff. Well worth visiting for breakfast!
A. P.
Loved it, popped in for Sunday brunch to the cafe bit, didn't need to book. Really good veggie breakfast, (picture mid munch 😅) definitely recommend 👌
M. A.
The best breakfast in Edinburgh! We decided to try this small place on our second morning in Edinburgh and ended up coming back two more times (and we are not the type of people to return to the small place while traveling!). Everything we tried was INCREDIBLE! My favorite was the salmon hash — packed with flavor in every bite — while my husband loved the breakfast rolls. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and everything came out quick and piping hot. Even better, it’s a locally owned and locally sourced restaurant — truly a taste of Scotland. This was by far our favorite restaurant in the city!
L. L.
One of the best breakfast/brunch I've ever had. The portion of the Full English was huge and everything on that plate was seasoned and cooked perfectly - Juicy sausage, portebello mushroom and vine tomatoes. The baked beans was delicious, unlike the traditional English style.
Hash was luscious but much smaller in portion compared to the full English. Lovely flavoursome kale and smoked salmon, great combination.
Both oat milk latte and black tea were smooth and tasty.
Staff were very polite, friendly and attentive.
Overall, nothing disappoints in this place, from food, service quality to dinning atmosphere. Fantastic value for money.
Highly recommended to everyone.
K. T.
Lovely little place, we had a gorgeous breakfast here, the presentation was immaculate and the staff were extremely friendly. Would highly recommend 👌🏼
S. W.
Went to brunch here around 11am on a weekday morning. The place is cozy and also pretty small, so consider calling ahead to reserve a table, or be flexible and willing to wait a bit. Luckily, there are plenty of interesting shops just around the corner to kill time.
If you’re a fan of a traditional full breakfast, come here and enjoy a delightfully elevated version of it. Their baked beans were my favorite of the trip, with a nice hint of smokiness, and not overly sweet. If you feel like a sweet breakfast, I highly recommend the “eggy bread,” AKA French toast.
J. T.
Amazing cafe located just off the Royal Mile. We loved it so much, we came back the next day too. Menu has a range of breakfast and brunch options, but the porridge was the best we've ever had. I'm considering moving to Edinburgh just so I can have it every day. The cafe is very popular however, so you may have to queue, but it is worth the wait. There is also a smaller version of the cafe next door, with a similarly smaller version of the menu. It still has the porridge though, so you're all good. Atmosphere inside both cafes is great and the staff are really friendly. If you're looking for breakfast in Edinburgh, you have to visit.
N. E. T.
Go here! The food is great and the decor/atmosphere are super cute. I had the Scottish Board and loved every bite. My partner had a BLT and I was tempted to eat a bite even tho I don't really like Bacon! The bread was phenomenal, the matcha latte was good, and James likes his beer (pictures below). I ordered a scone for takeaway because they looked so good & I was too full in the moment!
M. Z.
Fantastic place for brunch. Lovely atmosphere and the stuff very helpful and friendly
J. W.
Best veggie breakfast I've had in Scotland. The only small criticism is that the vegan breakfast is identical to the veggie but with an item taken off yet it is charged at the same price.
M. M.
Really accommodating (we booked the wrong Saturday date) and they fitted us in despite being super busy! would really recommend the waffles with spiced apples! Mmmm
A. S.
Justifiably busy café serving fabulous cooked breakfasts and lunch. Fast and friendly service. I returned the next day, no better recommendation than that!
T. K.
Veggie and vegan breaky options available. Was delicious.
Cake was good too!
Returned here on 15 June & added more pics. Had 1 x veggie breakfast & 1 x salmon & spinach with potatoes. Sooooo good
K. M. (.
This place is amazing! Easily the best place I’ve eaten in Edinburgh. The latte was probably the best I’ve had on my whole trip and the Scottish plate was to die for!
Please try the Larder if your passing through the old city of Edinburgh!
Z. I.
What a lovely place to grab a breakfast.
The food is delicious, the atmosphere is very nice and cosy. The staff are very polite as well. It's definitely worth visiting this place whilst in Edinburgh. Oh and for the coffee lovers-you need to try the latte :)
B. R.
Delicious breakfast, very tasty indeed. Coffee not bad - a little oversized for flat whites, good flavour. Very busy so book ahead - testament to the quality of the food. Would go again!
N. J.
We had the full vegan breakfast here and it was absolutely divine! The service was fast and the staff were very friendly. The place looked very warm and welcoming!
A. c.
Delicious food. Had the breakfast and could not fault it at all. That being said I refuse to give 5 stars as there in a service charge on the bill for about 4 pound. I find this ridiculous. There's mention of it before hand. Why should I pay a service charge on top of my food when I am getting no extra service?
I am quite literaly paying the staff extra to do the job they are hired to do? Makes no sense
T. G.
Our server was great at suggestioning their GF bread to go with my breakfast. I ordered with the bread, bacon, sausage, a fried egg and a poached egg. When he brought the food for the table he had to apologize due to the kitchen having to remake my meal. (There were 4 of us) He stated that as he placed the sausage on the plate he remembered that it had gluten in it. He was educated to know that severe Celiac patients are even super sensitive to cross-contamination. This has by far been the BEST ever experience!! If you have the chance to be in Scotland, this is a must stop. They serve lunch and breakfast.
Y. E.
Perfect for breakfast! Great selection, everything is super tasty. The porridge and rooibois are wonderful ❤️😍
J.
An excellent place for brunch in a cozy eatery. The eggs royal(e) was done very well with hearty pieces of toast, fresh salmon, and perfectly poached eggs. The homemade scone with clotted cream and jam was also fantastic, and I highly recommend it if you haven't eaten clotted cream before. Seating can be quite limited if you're in a larger group but 2 person tables are easy to get.
D. P.
Excellent brunch spot off the main touristy Royal Mile. The food choices are excellent, the Scottish breakfast was very tasty and filling! It’s also a great place for a relaxing Sunday and reading a book.
D. V. C.
The food and service was top notch. The Scottish platter was very generous and if you like salmon then definitely go for this. I wish I had an extra day to go try the breakfast.
D.
Lovely brunch, amazing quality and flavour.
a. y.
I had an excellent Eggs Benedict and I can highly recommended it.
Lovely staff and nice atmosphere.
So nearly 5 stars but the delivery of food from the main kitchen, which is actually next door, is not ideal
D. M.
On our second day in Edinburgh we decided to visit Larder Kitchen for breakfast and we do not regret it at all.
The service was amazing and friendly and the food was simply superb. We really recommend everyone to pop in and try their menu with locally sourced ingredients.
We ordered a porridge (it is a must, let me tell you it is the best porridge we have tried so far) and also Eggs Royale and a Full Breakfast.
Thanks guys for making our experience in Edinburgh even better!
M. D.
The Eggs Royale were delicious. Salmon tasted fresh, eggs were cooked just right with runny yolk, and the hollandaise sauce was very creamy. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great breakfast in Edinburgh. My only criticism would be the chai latte we had was luke-warm. A good temperature for drinking, but if you babysit it at all, it will be cold after just a short time.
A. M.
Cozy brunch place, great brunch. Good balance price/quality.
Perfect for a catch-up with few friend as the place is not too big, central location.
D. R.
Spectacular food! Really excellent service! We all got some different dishes and they were all fantastic. I would definitely recommend the Larder breakfast, which gives you a sample of everything.
J.
Wow!! So happy we got the chance to eat here while in Edinburgh! The staff, the service, the food and drinks were all absolutely superb, we couldn’t fault a thing. From the second we arrived the front of house staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and it’s easy to see they really care about giving every customer a great experience. The food was absolutely to die for, if I could eat here every day I wouldn’t think twice about it, I had the potato hash and it was the nicest breakfast I’ve ever eaten! If you are anywhere near this place then make sure you try it at least once, you won’t be disappointed!
W. B.
A must go to for breakfast in Edinburgh, especially if your looking for a classic breakfast. Rest easy though if porridge isn't your thing, their hash/full Scottish breakfasts are a go to aswell.
S. M.
Such a wonderful spot... great service, tasty food... they describe the breakfast roll as a “panini” but it’s definitely more of a plain kaiser roll with a little butter. Still, I’m blown away by the simple porridge with “tarragon sugar” - a true delight.
C. C.
What an absolutely brilliant find! Thoroughly recommend for a tasty brunch with excellent and friendly service! Definitely will be back when we are next in town! Thanks very much!
G. S.
Wowowow amazing! This place is a little gem, featuring a beautiful, yet small menu, therefore everything on there has been created with a lot of love and care. The staff are very friendly and well informed about the menu and where the produce comes from. I had the porridge, and my boyfriend had the breakfast hash, and both were outstanding. This will be a regular spot for us for sure!
N. K.
Great eggs benedict but coffee tasted burnt. Also had a lovely scone. Come for food, not good coffee.
J. M.
Best brunch in Edinburgh! Fantastic, attentive service, relaxed atmosphere and the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had - the homemade bacon is worth any journey you have to make!
P. C.
Great breakfast location. Food was well prepared from quality ingredients. The folks care about how this stuff is done. Good coffee and tea too! They have a sister takeout counter next-door if you want to do a grab and go.
A. W.
On our last day in Edinburgh we wanted to have some traditional Scottish food for breakfast. We found this place and got there about 9a, and luckily we did because within 30 minutes the wait was close to an hour. We ordered the 'big breakfast' with an extra egg, and a scone between the two of us. By the end we were totally full and thoroughly happy! So if you want some authentic Scottish food, go there EARLY and enjoy all the delicious food!!
M. S.
The perfect breakfast for a day of exploring. We both had scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and it come out piping hot. The eggs were deliciously creamy. Orange juice was made to order, and not thinned out with ice or sweetened with added sugars. Everyone around us seemed to enjoy their meals, there were lots of ummmmms heard. Service was quick but not rushed. Great value for the quality! Baked goods also looked amazing but we ran out of room in our tummies.
L. D.
Very nice authentic brunch location, the food is very nice. I would recommend the haddock breakfast option.
H. L.
The Hash was super delicious; so simple but perfectly made. The portion size was smaller than expected for £13 but we were satisfied. It was a shame to have it in a takeaway box when we sat in, but we understood that due to Covid19 there are alterations.
K. M.
Absolutely loved this place. We stopped in here for a quick breakfast. They had hot dishes to choose from but we just wanted something simple and quick. I got a scone, my mom a croissant. THEY WERE SO GOOD. Add in a cup of tea and omg, heaven. Seriously delicious baked goods and the staff was extremely friendly. The restaurant was warm and welcoming. Loved this place!
K. R.
The place is rather small so it can be quickly crowded. We had a full Scottish and a veggie breakfast. The plates were generous, perfect to start a day of walking around the city. Very good and local products. The service could be improved though.
W. A.
Hands down the best cooked breakfast I have ever eaten. Every aspect was cooked to perfection and each ingredient was top quality, particularly the sausage and homemade baked beans! Be warned - this place has a limited number of covers and gets incredibly busy, given the quality of food on offer and its central location. I would suggest getting here before 10am if you want to find a seat. Cannot recommend enough this great breakfast/brunch place!
M. S.
Great food and super friendly staff. You have the official Larder and its little cousin (no toilets on this one) just next door. Went to little cousin, it was very calm and relaxing atmosphere. Edit : went a second time, trying the big one, not disappointed.
S. W.
Recommended you book this Edinburgh gem because this place will delight the taste buds. Made all the better by the warm greeting and service from the staff here!
R. S.
Had a really good breakfast in a welcoming ambiance. Small menu, but they have almost everything gluten free. Also, if you have any conditions regarding food, let them know and they will give you options to choose from.
J. S.
Perfect in every way - great food, super friendly staff and excellent service. The best way to start a day exploring Edinburgh! 🥰
J. L.
The waffles are amazing, worth a visit for those alone.
Friendly staff, nice vibe and reasonably priced (as Edinburgh goes anyway!)
P. A.
Small restaurant that's well worth a visit. The staff is friendly and attentative. Their food is fresh and delicious. They got maps showing you where their produce is coming from.
Call ahead for a table
s. R.
Gorgeous little cafe and the breakfast was absolutely top notch. Beautiful, local produce and tastes fantastic.
A. L.
Delicious menu, simple small interior and lots of gluten free options. The GF bread was incredible! I'd definitely eat here again. Surprisingly tasty for right off the touristy royal mile.
L. S.
Amazing food, good service, lovely little rustic café, and good value for money - the big bites really are big!! All food is locally sourced which they brand themselves on. If you're coming for breakfast, it's a good idea to be there for when they open as there's limited seating and they fill up quickly.
M. O.
The food here is excellent. Got the full breakfast which was amazing, staff are lovely and there's a good vibe in general about the place
P. W.
A full sized breakfast in here was enough to keep me going till teatime.
Lovely staff as well
N. A.
Best espresso drinks and Scones in Edinburgh, saussy roles to die for. Order the Americano, flawless.
K. M.
Lovely “little” place we stumbled into by accident while trying to go to the larger larder next door.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive while the food was delicious. My mother in law has a gluten intolerance, but they can make so many things gluten free for her. Their homemade gluten free bread was delicious when I tried it myself.
In addition to the eggs I had I tried my wife’s porridge and was pleasantly surprised as I’m not usually a fan myself, but theirs was good! I also loved the freshly squeezed orange juice myself. Naturally sweet, it made for a perfect pairing with my eggs.
The coffee looked delicious as well, but I didn’t partake of it this time. They also have different teas available as well. My wife had the chili rooibos and that had to be one of my favorite variations of that tea.
So come in and check this place out!
J. M.
Staff was super friendly and the food was AMAZING. Fresh tasting, great portions and beautiful presentation.
T. T.
Cozy little cafe with high quality food and friendly service. I came here with my husband and three of our friends. We arrived about 10 am and had no booking. Luckily, we got a table. Through the time we were there, the cafe filled up quickly and had a few people waiting for a table. The menu had a good selection of foods big or small. My husband and I ordered the Full Breakfast and Veggie Breakfast (£10-£11). When it arrived, the presentation was simple and clearly thought out.
The food was delicious. The toast was generously buttered, mushroom juicy, and plate full of flavor. The vibe of the place was lovely but low-key. My only complaint would be that you leave smelling like food. The set up is an open kitchen so you can smell everything being cooked, which is nice but it does leave food odor on you the rest of the day. Still, I would recommend this place for their unique dishes, thought out presentation and nice staff.
M. B.
Best waffles I have ever had!
E. M.
Totally recommend the full Scottish breakfast! It was lovely; nice location and great service too
J. L.
Nice brunch choice next to our hotel. The staffs were very friendly but its rather crowded and the place is quite small. Nonetheless overall a good place to eat
P. H.
I landed in Edinburgh very early in the morning so had plenty of time to research a great place to have a great Scottish breakfast.
After several possible places I settled on "The Edinburgh Larder" it's a small place I would recommend making a reservation beforehand.
The decor is great with illustrations by a local illustrator of seasonal veg and a map of scotland with drawings of the ingredients they use and where they come from.
The first of my two visits I had a mocha and a Eggs Royal the mocha was really good. You get a nice big bottle of water for the table. The staff are friendly and pleasent.
The wait was not too long and good was it worth it egg poached perfectly, scrumptious scottish salmon topped with hollandaise sauce and served on a thick but not to thick piece of granary toast.
Notnthe cheapest breakfast in Edinburgh but certainly one of the tastiest fully recommended.
L. P.
This place is lovely, staff is very kind and friendly! I took the Deli Plate and it was delicious, food is genuine and local organic ingredients make it special.
Prices are good, around 8-14£, I would totally recommend you this place if you're looking for Scottish innovative cuisine
J. m.
Was looking forward to visiting this place for a while, the Eggs Royale was worth the wait
C. T.
Excellent experience. Staff were super friendly, food was really tasty with fast service, fresh seasonal ingredients.
B. L.
Only had two days in Edinburgh and decided to come to this place for breakfast because of all the positive reviews and was definitely not disappointed! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, food came out quickly and portions were generous! Will definitely come straight back here next time I'm in town!
M.
The place is nicely decorated and the staff has been very kind. Prices are fair (7-14 pounds) given its great position on the royal mile and that the portions were very abundant.
Food quality is excellent, organic ingredients from Scotland, the recipes are delicious.
I would totally recommend it.
Edit:
Since I loved the lunch I also came back to try the typical Scottish Breakfast the following day, awesomely delicious.
B. P.
Great food and experience. Staff was very nice and friendly. We had the granola, croissant, toast and egg. All great. Just a nice atmosphere. Highly recommend for breakfast, but do get in early. There can be a wait. Not sure how lunch is, but looked good.
L. P.
Really nice place for breakfast. The waiters were very kind and friendly.
The food was very delicious and prices are affordable.
T.
Stumbled across this lovely cafe today and came in for brunch. Really nice atmosphere with very welcoming staff. The eggs Benedict was the best we’ve ever had and the cakes were really tasty. A really high quality coffee too. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.
L. M.
Lovely place with delicious food and great ambiance. I got the vegetarian breakfast, which had an AMAZING veggie haggis. Don't know what it's made of but I like it more than the real thing! The croissant was also to die for. It's a bit pricier than other breakfast shops in the area (£9) but the food is locally sourced and good quality, I enjoyed it thoroughly.
J. T.
Best Carrott Cake in Edinburgh!!! The whole place is full of good smells and love. In fact the staff also the best. They gave us excellent service and warm smile. Strongly recommended!!!
T. T.
Happened to stroll in by myself one day before class, and was so surprised with how fresh and delicious the food is! The atmosphere is airy and cozy! Will definitely be back!!
J. “. W.
Just chose this restaurant for breakfast based on these reviews and we were not disappointed. There was a queue when we arrived (although you can pre-book) and we were seated and ordering after no more than 4-5 minutes.
Excellent service and the Eggs Royal that I was recommended was beautiful. Absolutely perfect spot for breakfast!
N. H.
Lovely cafe, an excellent late lunch of eggs Benedict, and a tangy tomato soup for my wife, superb taste, very fresh and welcoming service. Very good, highly recommended.
c. w.
Great brunch location with friendly and helpful staff great choice on the menu with a wide variety or cocktails, wines and soft drinks to accompany. The food was fresh and tasted excellent, slight mistake on our part for not phoning ahead about gluten/dairy free options as it severely cut down the options available and required adjustment but staff were excellent in trying to sort something out for their dietary requirements.
m. w.
The best eggs benedict that I've ever had. Service was pretty good too😊
S. M.
Fantastic little breakfast and brunch place in the Old Town. Great selection of teas, coffees, breakfast foods (and cakes), but it’s lovely fresh ingredients (loved the Hash!), served by friendly staff in a warm setting. Highly recommended, but be sure to book in advance!
C. H.
The food was alright, the standard breakfast served anywhere else. No idea why the rating is at 4.6. 🤷🏻♀️
c. m.
Came here for breakfast. Food was great. I suggest you reserve a table in advance as I noticed this place is quite popular.
s. s.
So pleased we found this place .. breakfast was fantastic. We got there 9.10am and they were full but we ( 3 of us ) were offered a table to come back to in around 40 minutes and it was well worth the wait. Can recommend the vegetarian breakfast and eggs florentine options which were delicious :)
C. B.
Food and coffee was excellent and the service was great and super speedy. Get rid of the automatic service charge on the bill, it's not right to do and I'd have probably tipped more than that anyway.
D. C.
Had a delicious brunch today at the smaller venue next door. Staff were friendly and attentive; making a table available to us as soon as they could during a busy lunch period.
Brilliant tasting loose-leaf tea to accompany our vegetarian breakfast. The coffee tasted strangely of coconuts which was echoed by the table next to us - perhaps some accidental cross-contamination with coconut milk with the milk steamer… Great coffee nonetheless as I rather enjoy coconut!
As good as recyclable/compostable packaging is for bringing food over from the main kitchen, it would be preferred if waste could be avoided entirely (some kind of reusable container?)
R. H.
Amazing breakfast with incredible coffee! Utterly loved it. Can see why it's so popular
P. W.
All the positive reviews are well deserved. We had breakfast there and even at 8:30am on Sunday, it was full. Worth booking in advance. Fresh, fast and tasty: good coffee too. Industrious, unflappable staff who serenely and charmingly just get on with it. Hope you enjoy it too.
J. E.
Quick service, friendly staff and quality food! Will be back next time we’re in Edinburgh!
J. M.
We went to both the small and the original Edinburgh Larder and enjoyed both of the visits. Excellent choice of breakfasts. We didn't manage a lunch there but I have no doubt it would just as good.
K.
Came here as recommended in a travel group. Traveling solo so sat in the big shared table in the middle. The food was great, I had the eggs royale and the salmon was fresh, the bread was tasty and the eggs & sauce were perfect. My only complaint is that their orange juice is the artificial (radioactive neon yellow) kind and I was hoping for natural, but it’s not a make or break, I’ll have tea next time! Lovely service as well!
L. D.
Lovely coffee place. I had a Scottish platter, would highly recommend
D. M.
Best breakfast I’ve had in quite some time. So good we went there again the next morning. Eggs Benedict was perfect and the rolls used for the breakfast sandwiches are unbelievable. Highly recommended.
A. B.
The food is good, however the service was very slow and not attentive. Took us 20 minutes to get to order drinks and food (even after getting their attention) another 15 to receive our food (which is not an issue) and then more to wait to pay. The issue was with the service and that it was very inefficient. The waitress would take one order and then go make all the drinks for that order (upwards of 15 min process). Then she would repeat the process for the next table.
D. F.
Food heaven! Would definitely recommend the hash breakfast. Friendly staff and very welcoming.
R. M.
Lovely place just off the Canongate, where the food is always excellent (photo is the full breakfast) and the staff are wonderful and friendly.
Ε. Χ. Σ.
Amazing service
Lovely staff
Delicious cakes
Great atmosphere
Highly recommended!!!
D. B.
Had a full English breakfast with their fresh orange juice and a spiced apple cake with toffee sauce - everything was absolutely delicious! The staff are very friendly and tend to you quickly, we weren't left waiting long for our food at all and the interior is cosy. Highly recommend :)
S. B.
Expensive but Good food. £12 for a full Scottish breakfast. Probably have to wait 30 mins if queue. But can wait in their takeaway tea and cake shop next door. £2 min for a tea in a takeaway cup
D. M.
Breakfasts were excellent, lots to choose from, full cooked breakfast was one of the tastiest I've had. Service was good, very welcoming and cosy. The only let down was today's coffee, slightly over acidic and very weak.
r. a.
Stunning breakfast. Attentive staff.
Gf had the vegan breakfast. She let me try some of her vegan haggis and it was beautiful. In fact, once I had finished my breakfast and I tried to take a little bit more of it, I was denied. Honestly, if looks could kill. She was never letting have any more.
A. C.
Fantastic, quick and friendly service. My friend had the vegetarian breakfast and I had the vegan breakfast. They were both thoroughly enjoyed and washed down with two glorious cups of coffee. We will definitely be back!
A. W. (.
Absolutely amazing breakfast. Portions were perfect to fill but not leave feeling stuffed. Drinks are all designed by employees and use handmade ingredients at various levels. Highly recommend. Reservations necessary
A. B.
My wife and I popped in for brunch and this was the best decision we made while visiting Edinburgh. Try the salmon here, you will not regret it. Amazing food, great people, what else could one ask for.
w. L.
Eggs Royal was so good. The best eggs benedict I’ve ever had. Cheers.
I. I.
Really tasty food made with local products. The place is always crowded but they have a good reservation system.
S. G.
I ordered the full Scottish breakfast with tea and they were delicious! Service was great, too!
G.
Great full breakfast, so tasty we visited twice during our long weekend in Edinburgh. Very friendly staff - we were served by Edita and Ninon but everyone was happy to help and pleasant! Can't recommend enough!
D. W.
This was already a highly rated place, but it still blew my expectations out the water. I will preface this by saying it is slightly more pricey and hard to get in without an advance booking. The food is fantastic, the staff are friendly and attentive, the music selection is brilliant and the general atmosphere is great. If you are looking for lunch or breakfast while in Edinburgh, please give them a go.
S. K.
Food and service was ok, but a little pricey for the portions.
A.
It gets very busy, I was in the little larder. Food was delicious but worth it.
S. C.
Serves an amazing vegan breakfast! The servers are friendly and attentive, even when the place is very busy. Highly recommend.
J. P.
We came here twice in 4 days and probably would've come here again on the other 2 if we had time. This is a MUST for anyone in town. Food, coffee, service, quaint location and setup.... The place is perfect and blew us away. We tried the breakfast sandwiches, English breakfast (twice), and the various eggs bene / Florentine. All great. The porridge was quite tasty as well. Even grabbed a scone from the TO GO spot next door and it was pretty tasty.
Can't go wrong. Great spot.
S. R.
Went here twice in 4 days for breakfast. I had the Buttery Bap with egg, back, and sausage and it was really good.
c. m.
Love this place. The staff could not be more pleasant (all of them!!) and the food is delicious. Coffees are also high quality. I Could go everyday.
K. S.
Absolutely delicious, definitely the best place in Edinburgh for breakfast. I had the veggie breakfast with the most delicious haggis, and my other half had the potato hash with salmon and hollandaise, super yummy. Really fresh, good quality ingredients, all homemade. The coffee was great and staff were amazing, soo friendly, I would recommend booking, staff are super accomodating and try to fit you in where possible but it does get quite full and its a small dining room. Thank you so much we will definitely be back on a next visit to Edinburgh
G. C.
Great food - really nice and cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.
My girlfriend has a dairy allergy and there was no trouble at all making sure that that was accommodated.
Would definitely come back again.
N. K.
The food was incredible! Hot chocolate a bit underwhelming though. Staff were nice, didn't do the best they could have with organising the waiting system and probably could do with a bigger space. They need to show some authority and kick out people who sit there with a coffee for hours, as they'd get more business in at peak times.
M. F.
Delicious food and friendly staff. I ordered the Scottish full breakfast. Great cappuccino as well.
C. j.
Good food. I had the Full breakfast was a little disappointed that they made their own baked beans since I do like my Heinz beans. If you like eggs they know how to cook them though.
J. T.
Their eggy bread was my boyfriend's favorite meal of our entire trip! Of all the things we enjoyed throughout Ireland & Scotland, he continues to talk about this meal!
We got in here for breakfast in a lull, just before the wait was out the door. Staff was attentive and friendly. I, amidst 10 days of travel meals, got to enjoy a fabulous, colorful vegetarian breakfast (such a joy!). Their Americanos were delicious. Next time we find ourselves in Edinburgh, we'll be here!
F. F. R.
Loved the turmeric latte! Brunch and lunch options were very tasty! Went back for a second time and would go again next time I visit Edinburgh!
A. B.
Nice staff, lovely central location, cosy place. The scrambled eggs were just about okay, hard to access toilet.
J. C.
Beautiful full breakfast fry. Not greasy and the garlic mushroom had amazing flavour. Homemade beans was a nice touch too. Nice coffee as well.
B. W.
Best breakfast in Scotland. The spot is just as charming and the food as good as it was when I visited several years ago. Definite must go!
M. J.
My favourite cafe in Edinburgh! The food is absolutely incredible and the coffee is also such good quality. I had the veggie breakfast today and I could not have asked for anything more! It comes with so much food and everything was so delicious and high quality. The atmosphere is very relaxed and peaceful and the service is amazing. Our waiter, Tom, was very friendly and catered to all our needs. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! When you come to Edinburgh, you have to come here. Thank you so much!
L. M.
Great food and quiet little place to eat away from the tourist. The menu is interesting with fresh ingredients, there were several items we wanted to try. Lots of vegetarian options too.
C. L.
Delicious food and lovely staff. Gorgeous breakfast or brunch ! X
J. J.
Best vegan breakfast I've ever had at a café. Good coffee and very accomodating and helpful staff.
Highly recommended.
F. O.
Delicious food, great service. Lost a star because it was falsely advertised on the UK gov website to be part of “eat out to help out” scheme, but actually isn’t.
K. H.
Lovely, friendly staff, wonderful food, very popular place so may have to wait to be seated but well worth the wait, food is lovely as is the coffee. Going again before we leave.
M. K.
Wow!!!! Little gem, worth to wait for a table or book it in advance. Cooking with passion and staff is superb.
T. D.
If you want to eat in the main cafe then I would recommend that you book. However, they have a 2nd premises a couple of doors away. We went for breakfast which was full of flavour and seemingly no 'mass-produced' food. If you want something rustic and a bit different then you need to stop here. When we're next in Edinburgh we will going back here.
S. R.
Excellent breakfast & coffee, friendly staff highly recommended!
S. F. S. A.
Wonderful full breakfast, nothing like the normal fare. Everything is akin to a home cooked meal. Decor matches the food, will definitely be returning, eggs royal looked amazing.
S. J.
First time In Edinburgh.. Googled breakfast and up came the Little Larder.. Amazing food.. Worth a visit.. Lovely staff and environment. ⭐⭐
R. G.
The best cappuccino in town. No doubt about it 💪
a. t.
Small place with very good ambience and great staff who were very helpful all the time. I had Vegan breakfast which was very good and would taste again if I am around the city
R. M.
Veggie breakfast (No substitutions) Correct! Nothing will come close, best breakfast I can remember.
A. S.
Great savoury brunch and special cakes. The pumpkin oreo brownie was our favourite!!
K. W.
Fresh food, eggs royale was delicious, perfectly poached eggs with nice hollandaise sauce. I also like the use of compostable plating
D. P.
really nice for breakfast
had not booked
there was a bit of a queue but fast moving
the full breakfast was great
unexpectedly the beans and the bread were very tasty
i was halfway through before i though of taking a photo!
D. G.
Excellent food, very well presented, quality ingredients, lovely staff, popular so recommend booking.
O. H.
Really lovely spot for breakfast in Edinburgh, we had the veggie breakfast and it was delicious. Veggie haggis was excellent!
A. Y. (.
Apparently, there was already a line before 9am on a Sunday morning. They open at 9am. The food was good quality, only wish the portion was a little bigger.
K. G.
Good food, good cappuccino, good service. Had the smoked haddock hash for breakfast and it was delicious. Pretty busy place, had a 30 minute wait at 9:30am.
A. S. A.
Great place, coffees, food, service, everything was so good! Lots of homemade deliciousness, I would recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh!
K. C.
Simple tasty food done really well. Cheerful helpful staff - what more do you want!
E. D.
Yep, went here cause brunch club was under reno... Another fav
J. G.
Very nice little café in a small street perpendicular to the street that leads to Edinburgh Castle. Warm welcome, the guys are caring and the homemade pastries are just excellent. The little gourmet break that feels good! You can also eat there and it looks delicious. They also recommended a tea room (Eteacket) close to George Street which is just as nice.
A. D.
Fantastic coffee and great breakfast in a lovely place with very friendly and polite staff.
H. K.
Really nice place. I had breakfast here, decent eggs benedict. Coffee is good and service is friendly.
J. T.
Great little place. Great atmosphere, service and food was fantastic. Would definitely recommend and will come back!
C. M.
What a great find, it was due to close for the day as we arrived, but the lovely staff went out of their way to give such good service, the Cake and coffee was amazing, also possibly the nicest scones I've ever tasted. And genuinely nice people. Give it a go.
L. M.
Excellent coffee and delicious eggs Benedict. Even the tomato sandwich was incredible.
V. P.
Cute cafe just off the Royal Mile. Nice teas and coffees however the food could be more flexible. A bit pricey too. Great place for catching up since the easing of restrictions. Very few tables so advance booking (with deposit) is needed.
A. F.
Great breakfast and portions! Very reasonably priced! Perfect location along the Royal Mile!
L. T.
In need of a good tasty light breakfast in a cold November Sunday morning? This place hit the spot. I had the tastiest sausage bap with a macchiato and my son had bacon. Highly recommend. Staff super nice. Thanks guys.
S. F.
Super cute and intimate restaurant. There's not much seating, so it's first come first serve, and you could be sitting with other people if you have a small group. Friendly service and delicious food!
A. W.
Great food and lovely people. Definitely would recommend booking to avoid disappointment. Really glad we booked a table. Thanks for the excellent brunch
T. Y.
Had the vege breakfast. It was all locally sourced produce, well cooked and with friendly service. It came in a sort of container you'd receive aeroplane food in strangely, but that was to do with it being made next door. Flat white was good, too
허.
It is lovely nice cafe. And I got kind service and foods from lovely staff . Of course taste was also great!
E. A. (.
Came here for our week away in Edinburgh and it was banging and delicious. We had the vegan breakfast and veggie breakfast and the good tasted indulgent yet healthy. Will definitely return before our flight back
Staff were super friendly too
C. A. T.
Excellent service and delicious food, perfect for a brunch on a Sunday morning. We had the Benedict and the Florentine eggs plus coffee and a marvelous matcha latte, and we got for free a couple of scones I devoured for breakfast. I’ll return for sure.
D. S.
Head here immediately. Absolutely fresh and delicious local produce. I wish I had found this on my first day in town! Had the best meal i had all week in Edinburgh: purple potato salad, fresh beet hummus, fresh pesto, aubergine, lentils, pomegranate slaw, etc. Can't recommend enough!
R. F.
Really good breakfast bar just off the Royal Mile. I had the odd mix of a breakfast bap with bacon and vegetarian haggis and it was delicious, particularly the haggis. I'd advise booking ahead though as it was very busy and we were lucky to get in as a walk-in on a Saturday morning. Would definitely visit again.
H. A.
We had to wait a little bit as there was a queue early on a Saturday morning, but it was well worth the wait. The food was delicious and the coffee as well. Highly recommend and would definitely come baxk
A. L.
Cosy setting in the heart of Edinburgh. I tried their veggie Haggis on a bap...and was it good! Great coffee too. Highly recommended indeed.
P. L.
Extremely good Full Breakfast- Could have done with a bit more moisture i.e. eggs or beans, but every ingredient was superb.
The bearded server (can't remember his name) was extremely nice.
J. Q.
Belhaven roast smoked salmon is worth the visit...that and the the bacon and black pudding breakfast roll
F. J.
Little Larder and Edinburgh Larder seem to be same adjoining business.
We had breakfast at Little Larder and the eggs toast smoked salmon with coffee and service was 5 star.
P.
The coffee, the breakfast, the service. All excellent! Would recommend 😎
S. M.
Wholesome, warming and darn right delicious. The Edinburgh larder is the only place to to for breakfast in this great city. Friendly and humble, the staff were fantastic and only surpassed by the absolute stunning breakfast.
T. L.
Really lovely food and environment, but what really stood out were the exceptionally attentive, friendly and helpful staff. The three men who served us today were amongst the best waiters I've ever encountered, and really made it enjoyable.
C. B.
Absolutely amazing. Best veggie breakfasts I've ever eaten. Friendly staff nice atmosphere and great food. What else can you ask for. 10/10
S. S.
Fab food, friendly staff, nice choice of music :)
G. L. P.
Waited a bit too much to have our breakfast but without booking can happen.
And most of all totally worth it! Food was incredible!
Y. E.
Been there for breakfast and it was very pleasant experience.
B. H.
Perfect. Although very busy the waiter took his time for us to recommend other places, great service. And great breakfast.
M. T. M. L.
An always on my list whenever I’m in Edinburgh. Amazing food and service, would highly recommend the Full Scottish/Veggie option. Very popular place, reserve a table to avoid any disappointment!
C. M.
The best cafe I have ever been to!! The staff were lovely and made sure to enforce all covid rules. I had the best eggs benedict and a millionaires shortbread that I have ever had. I took a millionaires shortbread home (a four hour car journey) for my mum to enjoy, and she agreed it was the best millionaires shortbread that she had ever had. I just wish I could have taken home an eggs benedict for her!
P. O.
I enjoyed the meal, but it is hard to rate considering my low experiences with Scottish cuisine. My ratings are mainly based on the customer service.
T. A.
10/10 - excellent food, the best service, fantastic coffee.
Squeezed me in between bookings when I turned up last minute off a flight. Will definitely highlight this to colleagues whom are attending the city later in the week!
Merci beaucoup, Diolch, Thank you!

Best Scottish breakfast ever. Everything was delicious.
C. A.
Went for breakfast this morning. Honestly amazing! Really fresh ingredients and perfect poached eggs, couldn't have asked for more. We finished it off with carrot cake and chocolate brownie, and although it almost put us into a food coma we had to finish it because it was just so delicious!
D. L.
This is a great venue for breakfast , brunch or lunch . Fabulous fresh ingredients perfectly prepared . If it's full when you arrive . Wait . It's worth it !
K. B.
There's a reason some places are still packed when everywhere else around is empty. This place is legit. I had an eggs royale, a simple breakfast by any stretch. But this one was so good that I literally thought about it for the rest of the day. The artisan bread was light and crispy and airy in all the right ways. The eggs were high quality with deep orange yolks and cooked to perfection. The hollandaise was zesty and delicious, the smoked salmon was well above average, and the sprinkling of greens on top were the perfect accent. I damn near turned around and ordered a second one straight away. It was that good. Also the coffee is no joke and the staff is a delight. Do yourself a favor and come here.

Amazing place carving fresh honest food.

Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, prepare to wait for a table if you haven't booked
M. R.
Simply amazing great food and awesome service
A. A.
Lovely place, good coffee and wonderful porridge.

Excellent service and the best tortilla I've had in ages. Black pudding and pork sausages from Ramsays - delicious.
J. P.
Highly recommended - delicious food and relaxed atmosphere

Fantastic.
Great food, good music and nice vibe.
a. p.
we wanted to go to the restaurant but by accident went to the takeout Larder Go, which is next door. (Google Maps failed to distinguish the two Larders!) though we regreted not being able to explore the full resto menu, the cereal yoghurt and the rolls we got from the cafe werent bad at all.
M. B.
Delicious! I'd recommend getting some veggie haggis with whatever you get
K. K.
Nice little cafe to have breakfast in. Very pleasant staff and food good.
T. D.
We were lucky to escape the tourist trap and visit this gem. All local ingredients the sharing board was unbelievable good, fine dining in a cafe. Great coffee and cakes was a bonus. Top service as well. How could this place have any less than 5 stars ?
W. C.
Very Good experience. The Home is excellent ! The smile of staff is beautiful ! The meals ans menus is very Good !! Thanks for All. The french's Guy
L. W.
We visited the Larder around 1 pm. Although we really wanted breakfast (stops at 12) they have a good amount of dishes that are brunch like so it worked. We went into the restaurant and realized after checking out the menu we were in their cousin restaurant/cafe next door which is more about coffee and baked goods. The actual restaurant (as well next door) is cozy with a rustic feel & was full- we got lucky as a couple left 5 minutes after our arrival. We started with a couple of coffees. Impressed that they had an oat milk option & the Cappuccino with oat milk was excellent! We ordered a couple of egg dishes. Eggs Benedict & the second dish had a poached egg, cooked salmon & potatoes (can't remember the name). The Eggs Benedict was amazing with perfectly poached eggs and smoked salmon! You can taste and see the freshness and care that goes into each dish! They have a map that shows where in Scotland their ingredients are sourced from. Service was attentive & engaging. Skip the hotel breakfast and get to this hidden gem for an unforgettable meal!
S. G.
Beautiful interior, wonderful service. The haddock and potato hash is spectacular, a definite must-try!
a. k.
Possibly one of the best breakfast ( take away) I have ever had. Fast and superb service, fantastic food. If I could I would give it a 10!
N. P.
Very friendly, very accommodating and great food. They have a bookings area and walk-in's area. They are busy but it is obvious as to why so be prepared to wait or book a few days in advance.
L. R.
This place was really nice, fantastic food and service. We are already going back tomorrow
S. O.
I have tried their full english breakfast and also eggs benedict. Very delicious food also would recommend trying their orange juice. prior booking a table definitely helps.
C. P.
Absolutely stunning breakfasts, reasonably priced and friendly service. THE place for breakfast in Edinburgh.
D. B.
Lovely, friendly and tasty place for breakfast. Good coffee and food. Poached eggs to perfection.
A. T. C.
Our first time in Edinburgh and found this amazing little place, fantastic food.Such a wonderful happy vibe about the place, staff were an absolute delight.Would recommend booking though as it gets very busy.x
A. O.
Short wait at the door if you don't have a reservation. Cosy place with good food.
J. G.
Nice food, good selection on the breakfast menu, friendly staff. You have to book ahead though and the service was a bit slow at 9am.
T. P.
Perfect place for breakfast. Quick service, polite staff
C. V.
It was only ok. The potato hash was quite a small serving with very little smoked fish. The gluten free bread was obviously homemade which is fine but it was very dense and crumbly. A combination that doesn't make a good sandwich. Might have been better to serve as an open sandwich so there is less waste.
M. S.
Great place to eat and drink...sharing platter and cocktails were delicious. The staff were very friendly and produce all local, what could be better🙂
N. C.
Amazing breakfast, it's expensive for what you get but the quality is super good! The porridge is delicious and the full breakfast as well, recommended if you want to treat yourself!
B. M.
Fabulous veggie breakfast, great coffee and friendly staff, thank you! Porridge pretty darn amazing too. Briony and Richard
W. F.
Excellent coffee, lovely breakfast. Highly, highly recommended.
P. E.
The food and the experience were perfect but we had to wait half an hour to get in despite plenty of empty places inside.
A. P.
A fantastic place to eat. The owner and staff have worked hard to preserve the warm vibe and excellent menu during the pandemic. Great range of food for brunching, staff are friendly and accommodating. Well done.
N. H.
Cosy and friendly atmosphere with great food!
A. T.
Great place to get breakfast! Got myself their signature full plate and a bap with veggie haggis and bacon
H. B.
One of the best breakfasts I've ever had! Had a little wait for a table but we were served very quick and we had the full breakfast, with each item tasting amazing. Highly recommend!
J. N.
Great breakfast and absolutely wonderful coffee. Many thanks.
M. A.
Quite place and delicious breakfast.
The only thing I don't like is that there service charge (which I don't like in allrestaurant).
P. I.
Wonderful food. Everything top quality.
T. S.
Amazing food and staff were absolutely lovely, it was our anniversary and they gave us some cake for free! Perfect start to our day
S.
Amazing food 😍 fast and friendly service. 10/10 recommend
C. G.
Absolutely delicious full breakfast. Well presented, high quality ingredients, brilliant service all at a reasonable price. Definitely recommend to a friend.
c. l.
Great little cafe with great service. I sat down for a hot drink and a scone. It was lovely.
A. A.
Such a wonderful place with yummy brekkie. Black pudding and homemade beans were superb!
We’re on a food marathon today and our waiter Tom was super kinds to add yummy places to our list for the day.
... and shame I can’t attached my picture of the brekkie cause it’s an Instagramable one!
M. M.
There might be a wait, but it is so worth it. The Scottish Breakfast is delicious to the last item. (I wasn't a fan of the beans, but that's just personal taste.) Even the black pudding was delicious, which is normally a difficult taste to aquire as an American. Service staff was efficient and very friendly. We'll be back for dinner.
A. M. B. A.
Nice and busy place to have a unique fresh ingredients food
D. B.
Good contender for the best breakfast I've ever had
安.
many tourists, but really tasty.food and coffee are yummy.cozy .
J. A.
Wonderful selection of locally sourced food crafted into perfect dishes. Lives up to the very high standard of coffee that seems to be common among local Edinburgh cafes. They appear to roast their own beans in house which is pretty unique and respectable. Very friendly staff. Visited several times on my last trip and will be back again.
P. D.
I spent my visits at the "little larder" which is literally the next door to the Edinburgh Larder. The menu is a little less egg based and more brunch.
Whilst not a huge menu it is delicious and a perfect breakfast & brunch.
The coffee is great, the atmosphere is just right for a relaxed sit down before a day out in Edinburgh and the staff are really pleasant.
Well worth a visit
C. O.
My husband and I always make a point to stop by when we are in the city. Both restaurants are super cozy, the waitstaff is always very attentive and nice, and the food is fantastic. It’s all simple and not too heavy. The coffee is great too!
M. S.
Fantastic full breakfast, short wait time and lovely staff - couldn't really ask for more!
N. C.
Their full breakfast is something else, one of the best I've ever had. Not greasy, different flavours but everything in balance. Been multiple times now and intend to go again next time I'm anywhere near Edinburgh.
C. G.
Absolutely amazing breakfast with lovely service, easy to book in advance and felt very safe and comfortable. Highly recommended! The coffee was fantastic too!
A. K.
Amazing restaurant. Such a pleasure to try some traditional Scottish snacks in such an asthetic atmosphere! The staff were genuinely so kind and amazing. The cheese toasty with Aaran cheese and sourdough was pretty unexpectedly mind blowing. 10/10 would recommend.
C. M.
I went to the Little Larder right next door to the Edi Larder, just wanting a light breakfast. I really wasn’t expecting anything particularly special when I ordered it, but the scrambled eggs on toast were absolutely incredible! Everything is so cosy — the location is adorable, the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the food is like a hug for the soul. It made for a very pleasant morning. :)
C. R.
Great place for brunch. The staff was helpful and friendly. Lovely veggie breakfast with veggie haggis. Loved it!
C. C.
Small cafe with a fantastic menu. Food was so tasty. We were only sorry that we were too full to try a slice of the carrot cake that looked delicious. Will definitely return on our next visit.
S. P.
Lovely food, reasonably priced for the quality of it. Friendly and helpful staff and pleasant cafe with WiFi. My partner had the full breakfast which was huge but all very good ingredients and well-cooked. I had the porridge with seasonal compote: turned out to be ginger-spiced pears: delicious.
E. K.
Came here for dinner and breakfast! Come here if you want to get a sense of real life Edinburgh away from the tourists as this is where all the locals meet for a happy our pint and a chat after work. Lovely atmosphere and the food is very good too, especially the burgers. The breakfast in the morning is traditional.
A. B.
Wonderful place!
The food was fresh and delicious (one of the best sandwiches I've ever had!), and the service was quick and friendly. It's also good to see they source their products locally.
It has a cosy, bright atmosphere, which is perfect if you're looking for a chill place to have breakfast or lunch amongst the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh.
If I didn't have to go back home, I would be a regular here!
A. R.
Great breakfast or light lunch place. Menu is short and very good. I recommend one of the smoothies to drink. Great warm decor. The place is small and so not too loud which is a perfect change in the busy city. The staff is very nice and service speedy. Highly recommended.
O. J.
Such a good experience! Food was amazing and the coffee was WOW. Above all, the staff were great and I definitely recommend. It was one of my favourite parts of my trip in Edinburgh!
H. Z.
The food and tea there are fantastic! The bacon is smoked and crispy, with the thick, soft and syrup-covered waffle.
One thing may be a drawback to someone might be the ventilation in that café, which is not powerful enough to bring the steam and smoke out immediately, so the air inside might be a little stuffy.
D.
Great alternative to the full cafe next door if you're just looking for a coffee and a snack. Good prices and great central location. Didn't try any but they sold some amazing looking gluten free brownies.
H. A.
Went with friends and family for breakfast . The food is little for what you pay. Some is good and some wasn't. Their scone was a bit underbaked and the homemade jam was unusual flavour. Wasn't impressed with the 12.5% compulsory service charge for a table of four people or over.
s. p.
Oh man their sweet potato fries were so damn good! Would highly recommend
R.
Very good quality food. If you're looking for a nice place were eat local food, far from touristic places and try local recipes, stay relax with your special friend or partner, this is the perfect choice. Scottish breakfast till 11.45, proper meals till afternoon. I love the Haddock meal, very good taste. I also suggest the green tea, very delicious.
L. K.
Friendly, attentive staff, Ryan served us. Delicious food... The tasting plates, sausage roll, frittata, soups and salads were fresh and flavoursome, and scones with the best clotted cream and jam I've ever had. Excellent music coming from the kitchen. The condiments tipped it over to make it an excellent experience. Well worth a wait.
N. A.
Have been here on many occasions and have never been disappointed! The food is fresh, homemade and tasty. Generous portions especially the sandwiches. The coffee is excellent, as are all of the cakes I have tried (rhubarb, raspberry ripple, Victoria sponge, carrot) and the scones are the best in Edinburgh. The most important thing about this place however is the service, it's always friendly and efficient with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Love this place, definitely recommend!!!
J. D.
The food was tasty and the cafe has a nice atmosphere. The staff were very polite but several of our orders got mixed up or simply forgotten. The kitchen also ran out of a few ingredients for the Scottish breakfast so they improvised a little bit. Would have been nice to be asked first if we want to change our orders instead. To be fair we were a group of 5 and we had arrived Saturday morning during peak time.
E. M.
We love the Larder and Larder Go! The food is top notch and features local and sustainable foods. I have had a lovely brunch there and more recently a quick lunch. They offer loads of foods for different diets (including vegan or gluten free) and it is ALL good! More recently I had a fresh salmon salad with a tangy citrus dressing and the smalls had delicious danish and banana bread. I even squirreled away some gluten free almond brownies to nosh on days since - they were dark and dense and delicious. The staff is courteous and super helpful. Take warning though they are often crowded and they are a small space to you may have to wait for a table! (It's worth it though).
N. V.
Went for breakfast with two others. Long wait outside, but eventually getting a nice seat inside.
Good selection of food. I had a nice vegetarian full breakfast, and my sisters both had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast.
My breakfast was good, but the eggs were very dry and over cooked.
Had a great chai latte though.
Might go back again.
J. T.
Lovely breakfast and lovely little cafe! Great choice to suit everyone. I didn't know poached eggs could taste so nice! A must visit 😊
h.
Excellent breakfast. Freshly cooked using quality ingredients. It’s quite a small place so expect it to be busy and you may have to wait 10 to 15 minutes. Well worth the wait.
L. W.
Five star for the cappuccino and the scones, it’s super hard to get a seat, even if you can’t, take off with one of the best scones ever 💖
H. W.
Lovely place with lovely people. I got my homemade breakfast here during my short visit to Edinburgh, and it was absolutely delicious! Make sure to try their homemade sweet chili sauce on your sausage breakfast roll. I'll definitely come back here when I visit Edinburgh again. Thank you!
C. P.
Ideal for breakfast as there are less lunch options. The board was very tasty. Lovely team.
J. S.
A truly lovely vegetarian breakfast kept us going until our evening meal. Food was hot and fresh and comes highly recommended. A popular cafe and can get very busy, but give it a try and you will not be disappointed.
M. R.
A wonderful place. The staff is amazing and the food is delicious, beautiful and made with such care.
S. A.
Great coffee and atmosphere
F. R.
Good quality food and fab service. Will be back.
R. F.
Pro: scones, english breakfast and florentine eggs are really delicious. Great service and friendly staff.
Con: Coffee a little bit burnt to my taste. The waiter ( nicely) ask us to leave fast because they had a reservation for 6 people. Small place
P. T.
Nice but, honestly, overrated. Small and cozy coffee shop in the center of Edinburgh. Good: the staff is super nice and the service time is reasonable, food is good for a deli. So and so: the place IMHO lacks ambience, it's just too random. More importantly, the place is really small and they pack customers into any possible corner. I popped in for a coffee and ended up sharing a table elbow-to-elbow with a larger group, which was a bit awkward. Also every time somebody enters the shop a cold breeze waves through the tables.
In conclusion, a decent coffee shop in non peak hours. However I have seen way better coffee shop in Edinburgh, hence the rating.
M. R.
Such a great little cafe with friendly service, strong coffee and delicious food. Filling portion sizes and good quality Scottish ingredients, will definitely visit again!
d.
Business lunches - really pleased with the service and quality of the food provided. The hot and cold food options are excellent, even for fussy eaters. Everything is delicious!
E. S.
We had a very tasty breakfast at this place. Full eanglish breakfast for adults-enough energy for half a day. Porridge with honey for children-yammy!!! Just remember that the place is not big and you must come early or reserve the table in advance.
M. V.
Defintely the best scottish breakfast you'll find in Edinburgh! Friendly staff and great food
M. B.
Delicious breakfasts (vegan and Scottish) and great staff, who couldn't have been more accommodating
C. M. H.
Really good, had 2 brekkies, 1 veg 1 normal. Very friendly, great service, great food.
d. k.
Lovely food, well cooked and good service.
F. K.
Went in for vegan breakfast / brunch this morning. The waitresses were incredibly helpful with getting us a seat and were really friendly. Insane food and a nice aesthetic to the cafe. Thanks!
L. M.
Edinburgh Larder did a fantastic job catering for our wedding. The meal was delicious and spot on for what we wanted. A lot of our guests said how much they enjoyed it. All dietary requirements were catered for too, even the ones we didn't know about until quite near the date.
B. S.
One of the best breakfasts of my life. If you love seasonal food, locally sourced. Then this place is to go.
The staff a very attentive and friendly .
H. D.
Great place, delicious food. Coffee was smooth and perfect drinking temperature.
C. A.
Their cafe is really nice and has amazing light. You will have to wait sometimes for 20 minutes to sit, but if you have the time it's worth it.
The staff is super friendly and very accommodating if you have any allergies or other dietary restrictions. The food is great and you will leave feeling good.
It'a not super big, so I wouldn't recommend going in a large group.
D. S.
Both the oat and dairy flat whites were top notch. Not complaining but they were large for flat whites.
Only downside, they're not dog friendly so couldn't eat in
C. J.
Very tasty food, quirky menu. Fast and efficient service, reasonable prices. Highly recommended
S. A.
We ate in the Little Larder. I had the salmon and dill sandwich. Both the sandwich and the salad were delicious! I would go back.
M. W.
Food 5. Service over worked and too busy. Prices higher than most breakfast spots, but very good.
G. B.
This is so lovely and warm place. All the dishes are so tasty and delicious. They treat you in a perfect way. For 2 mornings we prefered here for breakfast and coffee. I advise spinach eggs on toast, wonderful.
b. o. b.
This place was recommended and it did not disappoint. Fresh quality food, great customer service and lovely little cafe
A. C.
Adorable cafe with delicious food. You can tell right away that the ingredients are high quality (they’re also locally sourced), great options for both meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, tea selection is great, and baked goods are amazing!!
A. F.
This small and unassuming deli serves magnificent food from fresh, locally-sourced Scottish produce. The simple chicken sandwich and tomato soup I ordered was nothing short of divine: subtle, layered flavours, hearty servings and a homemade feel. To top it off, the plum and vanilla cake I had ended my meal perfectly. Buttery and moist, with a generous addition of vanilla seeds in the icing, it took me back to my childhood. Best of all, the service was warm and friendly, with a quiet atmosphere. Perfect to enjoy your food and watch the world go by.
L. P.
I would have given this place a 5, however, the service really let it down. I went to the restaurant this morning and was allowed to make a reservation for 4, however, when I got there with my wife and parents we were turned away while others were allowed in. Then I was told that you cant make reservations, however, in the same breath the lady at the front said they cant fit us in on a table of 4 because they have two reservations. So that was a massive contradiction. Overall, the food was amazing but it definitely felt like we were treated differently, also being the only people of colour in the restaurant.
A. B.
One of the most delicious full breakfast I’ve ever had, in a very nice atmosphere. An Edinburgh must visit.
M. R.
Friendly café just off the Royal Mile in central Edinburgh. Home made cakes, drinks and light meals in an informal and welcoming environment. Laid back atmosphere and chilled vibe. 100x better than nearby generic chain coffee shops serving overpriced hot water! ☕🍰
H.
Very good brunch, quick and friendly service. Lovely atmosphere, will definitely visit next time i am in Edinburgh
S. S.
Great Office Lunch Menu, can't fault it. Generous portions, super tasty, look forward to meetings, any excuse to use Edinburgh Larder Catering :-)
E. L.
This is my second time visiting Edinburgh and my second time at the Larder. Both visits were terrific. One of the things that impresses me about dining in general in Edinburgh is the number of restaurants with vegetarian and vegan offerings. The Larder is no exception. On this visit I had the full Scottish vegan breakfast and it was wonderful! Don't miss the scones! My son and his family have been living in Edinburgh for the last year and this place has become their favorite place to bring people for breakfast. A word to the wise: make a reservation.
C. H.
Having recently celebrated their birthday with loots of great deals including steak and cake offers I thought I really should head along to the Edinburgh Larder. I have heard so many good things from friends and really was not disappointed in the least. The food is just as it is billed - fresh, home-made and tasty. The size of portions are really generous and sandwiches are big enough to fill you up, great tasting coffee and amazing cakes! What more could you ask for?! Oh and the service, it's always friendly and efficient with a lovely relaxed atmosphere - a great place for lunch, coffee, relaxing.
K. O.
Quality, wholesome ingredients. Delicate flavours. Lovely place with great service. Top Chai Latte.
S. S.
Really busy but always a good sign. Was able to watch chefs in open kitchen work hard to produce really good looking food. We had Kedgerie and full Scottish , excellent! Chris our waiter was very attentive.
L. M.
Absolutely beautiful breakfast and coffee 😍
A. B.
This Breakfast Burrito on a beautiful sunday morning with Janis Joplin playing in the back ground is all I need to know of heaven.
S. A.
We had a difficult time to find a place for breakfast on sunday morning, specially when you are a group of 7. Fortunaltely, we found this lovely place. We had to wait for opening time, but it was definitely worth it. The staff was great, and the food tasty. I strongly recommend
S. S.
Aside from the tight accommodations, the food was excellent. I had the roasted chicken sandwich and my husband had the salmon with homemade tartar sauce. The sides were lentils and greens and barley and greens. They were in seasoning or dressing and good! The server was very nice.
A. S.
Get in early because this place is very popular for brunch, and there was a large (but well organised) queuing system in place on our recent visit. And with good reason: the food and coffee here is all great quality and service is attentive. Great spot for catching up with friends. Good vegetarian and vegan options.
