Reviews of Toast
R. M.
Food was spot on and the a was relaxed but bustling. The service is attentive but just the right amount. Staff knew exactly how to welcome you and make you feel right at home. Great value for money for the quality, service and location on offer.
R. F.
Perfect place for a brunch. We went at 10am thinking we wouldn't have a table as I always see a queue for brunch. We had no problem at all getting a table but by 11 it was full.
Food and coffee was great and the service was attentive.
The only thing I'd say is that there's a lot of noise from the bar (plus people at tables talking, which is normal).
J. O.
Got here first thing on our Sunday for breakfast. We hadn’t booked and if we had turned up much later, we’d have missed our opportunity for a great breakfast and coffee, it’s a popular spot! No complaints at all and have enough energy to keep me going for the day!
S. C.
Absolutely delicious well prepared meal. Great coffee. It must be the only place I have had water brought to me within asking. Highly recommended.
J. S.
We had a mid week break in Edinburgh and stayed walking distance from toast. Have to say of the 3 breakfasts we managed to have Toast was by far the best. Great coffee, lovely food. Such a nice setting with the sun poking through the windows making it night and light in there.
J. T.
Fantastic place!!! Lovely staff who are very accommodating and very knowledgable of the drinks and food they sell. They also do Gluten free cheesecakes
m. q.
Lovely Dessert. i can't wait to takeway . I expect to enjoying coffee and cake inside
M. D. c.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Nicely presented food. Clean place.
If Jazz is your ideal - you will enjoy the music. Astonishing £3.00 for a coffee!
And evidently dogs are allowed
K. B.
They do amazing lunches, and also went to a fab wine tasting night that I'd definitely recommend (just don't eat a big dinner beforehand like I did!). Everything is really reasonably priced and if you sit outside you also get a great view of the Shore. Great wine selection and great staff also.
N. C.
Breakfast was excellent! Nothing to say .
But I might tell my opinion about something that shocked me . Businesses who care about pandemic should provide masks to customer who eventually don’t have one for few possible reasons . I have been asked by the guy at the front 1pound for a mask !!!!!! I was thinking to leave however I was too hungry to do that . But this was enough for me to not come back anymore . Few places use ‘ Covid ‘ excuses to make profit . I know 1 pound is nothing but I also know that you can get 50 masks for 2 pounds ?!?!?
also , The guy at the front when I left together with my boyfriend , he shouted from behind the bar ‘ ciao Bella ! ‘ , I don’t think this is the right way to say bye to customers .
S. W.
Food was delicious and we were seated very quickly despite it being busy. Good covid protocols and staff are friendly and attentive.
Would definitely recommend for brunch or coffee and cake.
I. S.
This is heaven for people on gluten free (gf) diet. All those options for cakes makes it a challenge to choose from.
D. C.
Amazing!!!!!
Absolutely delicious, we had the sausage and mushroom shakshuka. Staff here are really lovely, down to earth and amazing.
Cakes are phenomenal, we only wanted a coffee but the menu looked too good to resist!
B. (.
Food was alright but the menu was quite limited and a little pricey for what you get. Don't regret trying them but probably wouldn't choose to go back. Staff were great though.
B. J.
We stayed near here while visiting Leith recently. It became a go-to for great coffee and breakfast. We enjoyed the shakshuka and the avocado toast, as well delicious crescents fresh from the oven. One morning we were there early, a little after eight, before heading to the airport, and had a chance to chat with one of the owners. He was relaxed and friendly and brought me a complementary flat white to try after we talked a little about how much I enjoyed their coffee. The location and atmosphere here are excellent. I recommend it highly.
T. L.
Amazing breakfast!! Great menu, the cakes looked gorgeous and the staff were super friendly. Really nice atmosphere inside too.
F. M.
Food was lovely, good coffee, service excellent. Great ambiance, not too noisy or too quiet. Didn't need to book for breakfast - I recommend the booths.
M. K.
I just popped in to buy a cake for takeaway, but the overall the experience was great and we will come back for sure for breakfast or lunch.
I tried gianduja tart and raspery and choc dome. Both were extraordinary 😍 too good, so I didn't even manage to take pictures ;)
V. G.
The staff was lovely and the atmosphere was great! My friend and I ordered the “avocado toast” and the “toasted sourdough with sausage and eggs”. Tasted great! We also got to sit by the window and enjoyed a lovely view of the water. We had a great experience! Looking forward to coming back and trying out their desserts
I. H.
Stopped here for a little lunch and had the croque madame. Beautifully made with bacon fresh garlic. Great service and reasonable priced food. Grab a table outside with a glass of whine, bask in the sun and watch the world go by. Highly recommend.
G. G.
Good quality food, great ambience, friendly staff.
J. D.
Good simple food, well presented, with large price tag. £30+ for 3 small simple breakfasts with 2 coffees and a babyccino. £18-£20 would've been closer the mark in my view
D. R.
Cosy place for a lovely evening. It has a wide selection of wines and desserts 🥂🧁
L. M.
Love this restaurant. The food, wine and coffee are all delicious. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful.
G. B.
Beautiful place right by the shore. Really good menu and fair prices. Staff were attentive but not too much. Food was fantastic! Also my wife loves the pancakes here. Could be a bit more spacious but I’m being picky. Me & the wife love Toast ♥️...
Highly recommend!
C. W.
Cozy place with excellent breakfast choices and a vast collection of desserts. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food delicious and the portions generous. Very happy to have stumbled upon this little gem on our overnight trip, we will definitely return if we're ever in the area again.
T. D.
The coffee and cakes are delicious, but £4.5 coffee, wavy opening times (whenever they feel like it, it seems) and rude service. Explain, post-covid, how a business that behaves like this deserves patronage?
C. W.
Huevos Rancheros were the best part, really delicious. It's a trendy place in a neat location. However I didn't enjoy the seating; I was perched precariously on a high stool next a bunch of wine bottles and there wasn't enough table space so overall it was just cramped and unpleasant. The cake was tasteless and gave me a stomach ache.
E. S.
Fantastic. Food is delicious, staff are friendly.
F. M.
Excelllent, delicious food and friendly staff!
J. F.
Incredible brunch, good service, great coffee! I had to share the smoked haddock fish I had, absolutely delicious and quite different to the usual brunch fare. The bloody Mary was also very good, garnished with bacon 😃
H. O.
The most amazing food and atmosphere. I loved it from the moment I walked in. Order a tapas meal or something from the main menu, either way you won't be disappointed and your taste buds will thank you! Staff are friendly and so helpful with orders, they know just what they do and how good it is. Lovely vibe, brilliant dinner date idea or just a meal out with friends or family. More than worth the very affordable prices. A must visit!
J. K.
I hate to give a place three stars, and this one is rather unfortunate, other customers may have had a different experience.
My wife's Shakshuka was an oil-steeped mess. In the cafe's defense, the waiter handled the situation superbly by apologizing and gave us a 20% reduction on the final bill. On the upside, my toast benedict was superb, and the eggs were poached to perfection.
As coffee's go, this was a good standard, but given the price tag on most dishes here, you'd expect this Sunday-brunch favorite to deliver on all fronts. (I say "Sunday brunch favorite" because we were lucky to get a table, some people had to wait and they were trying to flip tables quickly).
There was a lot of staff running around in the small space with a different one seemingly popping up out of nowhere to ask if everything is alright. It was all a bit hectic for a Sunday morning after a night on the town.
Z. M.
Very nice Menu, friendly staff and lovely fresh products. Some items on the menu can be very pricey or a great bargain. The polenta and wild mushrooms were heavenly and the plate well served, the bowl of mixed nuts was almost 4£ for a few of them...
They are dog friendly but no accessible toilet.
B. M.
Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in Toast. The service was good and staff very friendly. A lovely choice of fresh food with plenty of vegetarian options, great selection of cakes and pastries plus a very nice coffee.
E. V.
Such a cute spot for a brunch stop in a great location in Leith. Lots of great choices for food & it's super tasty!
J. W.
Friendly staff, helpful staff, tasty food, well presented food, lovely atmosphere. Recommended the French toast with bacon and the American pancakes.
A. G.
Great location, really good feel inside. Friendly staff and a large selection of exotic looking cakes. We loved it and will be going back.
j.
Great food, brill coffee and lovely staff!! Really enjoyed it!!
M. S.
Sat at a pavement table on a warm Friday evening overlooking the water. We had a mezze platter for two, which was delicious.
Great menu choice for two vegetarians.
The food was excellent at a fare price for the location and quality. Be careful of the cost of some of the drinks.
The waiting staff were faultless, being everything you would hope for, polite, attentive, helpful and engaging. We'll be back to try the cakes. Really good coffee too!
M. W. (.
Really tasty food, very friendly staff. Ice creams were a bit too liquid but still tasty :)
D. B.
Quick service, friendly. Great food and coffee, would highly recommend.
J. M.
Lovely place for brunch! Great atmosphere and delicious food. The service was great.
K. P. M.
Lovely! Very friendly staff, beautiful assortment of sweet treats. Cheesecake was divine! Sunset: Bonus!
E. F.
Me and my friends have come for a breakfast and it was the best idea how to start our day in Edinburgh. Eggs Benedict and Bacon sandwich were absolutely delicious! Coffee was good and strong, and staff very kind. Also, the view is nice (river Leith), so if you want to have a great start of your day, this is a must visit! 🙂
M. H.
Always love this place. The cakes are delicious and good coffee as well
D. K.
Excellent service, good food and, as I found out today, delicious coffee!
L. K.
Lovely place for a brunch!! Excellent quality and very tasty plates! Really nice music playing in the background!!
A. R.
Great spot right down by the shore. toast is suitable for what you need; a coffee by the window on your own, a table and meal with friends or a bottle of wine from their selection with a partner. It's a really versatile spot with a comfortable and welcoming vibe.
H. R.
Lovely spot for drinks, really nice food and cocktails!
L. D.
The service was very nice and a nice selection of drinks. However the food leaves a lot to be desired. We had the steak and sourdough and it was very disappointing... A few strips overcooked steak hidden in between otherwise tasty sourdough and old tasting potatoes. Wouldn't come back.
V. V.
Always great experience. Staff is super lovely and food is great.
R. B.
Excellent service and food great. Breakfast cocktails amazing
L.
Great haddock dish, lovely coffee, friendly staff. Was a very relaxed pace, so not sure it’s a great option for rushing but I had a great time. Lost a star because the caramelised onions were far from caramelised & sausage could have done with some more flavour.
Would visit back for sure :)
J. D.
Great addition to Leith.
Fantastic staff with friendly service.
Warm, welcoming and very chilled atomosphere, with one of the best wine selections in Edinburgh.
H. H. •. R.
Superb meal of caramelised pears, grilled beetroot, rocket & feta. Terrific view to boot!
E. S.
Great service, tasty eggs Benedict, good but not amazing coffee. Loved the flavoured tap water.
D. L.
Great artisan cafe with fabulous food and friendly atmosphere. A little on the chilli side but the food, drink and staff made up for that. Highly recommended.
B. H.
My fav place on the shore. The food is amazing but could use some refresh as I've been to already a few times and the breakfast /brunch menu is still the same. What a shame. Staff is usually very friendly only last time the waitress wasn't very haooy to let us in 4 mins earlier with my 2,5year old on a cold morning.
T. F.
Lovely coffee and brunch. Benedict was delicious and the Ranchos Heuvos. Sat outside in the Sunshine on Leith! ☀️
B. B.
Top class food with friendly staff & great cakes
D. M.
Food is pretty good, nice and simple. The place is pretty nice too.
C. P.
A wonderful experience all round - the cafe is very nicely decorated and covid safe, even post lockdown. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and incredibly organised.
The food was amazing - we ordered the smoked haddock/pak choi and huevos rancheros, and both were gorgeous. Highly recommend - and there’s great views.
J. L.
Great café on the river at Leith. This place serves good food in a fantastic location right on the water. Sadly, the road is quite busy, but it’s still a nice spot. The staff were helpful and moved us indoors when rain threatened. Food was tasty and reasonable priced, and the coffee was good.
D. C.
We have been here a few times now and it's okay. The shakshuka sauce tasted great but the eggs were solid. The avocado on toast was cold and was not warm enough. The coffee is good. Overall the ingredients are really good, but the delivery is off unfortunately.
E.
Toast is a great addition to Leith. The service was fantastic and it had a great atmosphere. Loved the wine and charcuterie platter, we’ll be back soon.
J. R.
Fantastic food, fantastic friendly staff, would definitely go back
S. M.
Simple comfort food done well and prices are some of the most reasonable prices in UK. Great service and hospitality as well. I just wished it wasn’t so far as to be in Leith but would return if in the area for sure. Also makes a great cuppa coffee.
- The guy who was overjoyed to find Shashouka yesterday
M. Z.
Best pancakes in Edinburgh, IMO. Gets pretty busy during the weekend. Can’t go wrong with the blueberry pancakes with bacon!
J. E.
Very tasty brunch, excellent choice and service
L. C.
I've been to Toast a few times and the food is absolutely delicious. They cater wonderfully to those with food intolerances like myself. I went with my child and they were lovely with them.
Oh my word, the cakes are amazing!!!
The service is fab and they deal well with covid measures.
N. B.
Great toast, even if you are looking for gluten free toast!! We enjoyed our breakfasts but also had food envy for the French toast on the table nearest to us. Good covid safe restaurant rules. Delicious!!
P. M.
Beautiful and delicious cakes but expensive.
I. W.
Went for brunch on a wet Saturday morning. Friendly staff and simple good food
D. B.
Fabulous food with beautiful latte's and great service. Highly recommend
D. H.
Delicious food, no complaints. Imogen was lovely and friendly! Service was fast too.
The customer that came before us was overly rude asking for cutlery for his takeaway meal in a curt manner. Felt sorry for the staff having to deal with such a rude customer.
D. s. (. 이.
Nice. Kind staff.
She recommended scotch whisky. Thanks!
S. L.
Great place by Leith dock ...friendly staff and a cake display worthy of much more salubrious place! Good coffee too! Lunches looked very tasty but too full from breakfast to try!
g. s.
good for brunch, cakes and coffee.
Must try their shakshuka and carrot cake
H. S.
Great food, amazing wine selection, great view and ambience :)
K. L.
In my first experience: the food was very good but I felt like the menu and staff misinform. I paid extra for meat in my shakshuka but it was supposed to be 2 eggs plus meat (paid extra). But the meat option was downgraded to 1 egg which wasn't mentioned in the menu or by staff.
Even though I pointed it out, they continue to sell it to other customers in the same manner.
Second experience: I bumped into my friend who was sitting at table with a drink. I had a drink of my own from a shop, that I was pretty much done with. We were both going to order more but the waitress came over and told me I wasn't allowed to have my own drink (without even asking if I wanted to order anything). Also they brought my friend a large drink (which she had to pay for) when she had asked for a small, cheaper one. It seems that the menu and and what you order is miscommunicated so you end up paying more, or get less for your money.
Also, instead of embarrassing me because I had my own (almost empty drink), maybe ask what you can offer me to drink.
With such a great location and good food, they should work on transparency and excellency in customer service.
D. L.
Delightful place. Very cozy atmosphere, lovely staff and very tasty food and coffee!
K. H.
Decidedly mediocre. Had the eggs Benedict. Generous quantity of smoked salmon, but the eggs were over cooked. My partner’s black beans were tasteless and under seasoned, one of his eggs was over cooked the other was just ok. Waited 45 mins for what can only be described as mediocre. Terrible value. I wouldn’t visit again.
M. K.
Such a pleasant place to relax and enjoy good coffee and amazing cakes 😊
Never disappointed....well done aye !
M. N.
Our favourite brunch spot in Edinburgh! Can’t visit the city without stopping by. Helpful staff and amazing food. Dog friendly too!
Z. K.
So lovely to sit outside and have a lovely glass of wine and fresh, tasty grub. Would highly recommend the crab cakes.
P. W.
Best for lunch. Not so much dinner choice, but pleasant enough.
R. E.
Lovely Cafe and very friendly and polite service! Will come back for food!
Update: Just had a Croque 'dam and it was a PROPER one, intense in flavour, balanced bechamel, perfectly cooked runny egg, Sourdough very tasty. Great job ladies and gents! Keep it up. Also very nice selection of wines!
S. P.
A great place to have coffee and brunch!!! Cozy with a great view at the shore! Highly recommended!
C.
Saturday brunch: haddock & eggs super delicious. And recommend the bacon vodka Bloody Mary. Yes really! Efficient service so worth queuing as only waited 5mins
R. S.
Really really great food, absolutely delicious. The staff and service were amazing, too! Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch in the sunshine!
E. R.
Fine choice of cake and coffee, along with a selection of wines by the glass. Service is pretty efficient and they are trying to keep good covid measures in place. A window seat provides some entertainment.
J. B.
A bit pricey but really good toast combinations. Love the atmosphere too!
K. W.
Great food, best staff! Super nice
A. C.
Very popular coffee shop, however it’s worthy the waiting, delightful brunch, highly recommended here
E. “.
Lovely place. Only had time for drinks much to my partners disappointment as the cakes loved divine
H. G.
Amazing amazing amazing! Fab menu, friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend
N. T.
Great breakfast of smashed avacado, sourdough toast and poached eggs... perfectly cooked....good portion...good atmosphere with great service. Good start to the day.
J. B.
Really well sourced food. Fresh, and tasty. Cake are not too sweet. Definitely recommend a stop there for a quality time.
E. B.
Fabulous food, excellent service.
S. D.
Coffee or wine - that's the question. Where else can you ask this question, I ask you? Great venue, beautiful, modern, list of great wines, coffee, cakes etc. Lovely and attentive staff.
I. L.
Simple yet delicious food, in a great location with friendly staff
H. D.
Went for brunch this afternoon and it was brilliant. Had poached eggs on avocado toast which was delicious. Staff were lovely and toilets cleaned after every single use. Felt very safe!
M. M.
Nice breakfast options with good coffee. Service was good. Enjoyed my visit and would go again.
T. N.
Staff went out of their way to be accommodating and welcoming. Was particularly impressed by their detailed knowledge of the menu and ingredients . Despite distancing restrictions it was obvious that considerable thought had been given to how to offer customers a relaxed and enjoyable experience whilst still confirming to Covid safety issues. Will definitely be back.
D. A.
The food was delicious! Although it was really busy, all the staff was very friendly and helpful.
L. S.
Such a great spot! The pancakes with spiced pear, honey and yoghurt are phenomenal. Lots of fresh juices and good coffee too. Busy on the weekends but great atmosphere and didn’t have to wait too long for a table.
P. W.
Great place for brunch. Regularly use it when staying in Leith and have always found service and food to be very good. Measures to manage covid are well planned. Would highly recommend it.
C. B.
Pancakes excellent, service very good
C. D.
Great view and delicious cakes. Very friendly staff, just nice vibes 👌
J. H.
I've been going to Toast for the past couple of years since moving to Edinburgh. From breakfasts, lunches to dinners it has always been consistent. Even popping in for a swift coffee is a nice experience as staff are always friendly. Would always recommend to a local or tourist visiting. 5*
N. B.
I'd never been before but would go again. Spotless, to the point where you actually look and think, this is spotless. Well laid-out, nicely merchandised, good product range, nice hot bacon roll, good coffee. Will be back
N. G.
Great location to sit outside on a hot evening. Friendly staff. Short menu but everything was tasty. Recommended.
T. V.
really liked the little bistro. Had an excellent avocado and bacon bun washed down with a very tasty smoothie of their own devising. Great place to watch the worthy denizens of Leith and assorted tourists go about their daily tasks. If the weather is fine a grand place to look across the picturesque harbour now much gentrified.
A.
A bit pricy for the location / simplicity.. but I thought very nice coffee.
R. A.
Never go anywhere else for breakfast. Superb porridge.
A. R.
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and delicious food. The live jazz band and the French patisserie deserts were also a great bonus. Will be a pleasure to come back!
E. M.
Yum! Perfect spot by the river. Lovely tea. Smashed avocado, poached eggs and bacon on toasted sourdough was delicious. Really cosy spot with friendly staff. Will definitely be back!
S. S.
Excellent customer service and good food had the soup of the day and sourdough bread toasted.
G. R.
Deserts are GREAT! I had the Tarte tatin and was blown away. Coffe is good too. I didn't have a full meal here but food looks really good too.
R. P.
Delicious wine. They host events. You can buy wine to take home. Cool surroundings. Staff are friendly and attentive. Sandwiches are amazing, especially the cheese and Parma ham. A very good addition to the shore. The cakes look amazing but I have never tried. The coffee is very good.
S. S.
Great atmosphere, fab food...succulent and flavoursome chicken salad, followed a gorgeous cheesecake. Couple of glasses of a Spanish wine. Perfect night out, and partner fell head over heels with her main dish too. Big thanks to the lovely waitresses.
R. F.
Excellent, beautifully situated all day venue on Shore. I have only tried daytime offer - great coffee, great selection of cakes, small but tasty brunch menu, great service. I really like it as a space: light, bright, clean.
M. N.
Excellent. Had a great brunch on the 1st of January. One of the few restaurants that were open.
Everything fresh and clean. No complaints whatsoever, only compliments. No 5 stars because it is "only" a casual cafe.
F. H.
Great wee place with a huge selection of cakes and pastries (we had to take some home-it would have been wrong not to). We both very much enjoyed our brunch. Would be back in a jiffy if we lived in Edinburgh!
R. H.
Loved our pit stop here !!! The place was packed which says a lot 😎 My wife had avocado on Toast with feta and chorizo & I had avocado on Toast with two poached eggs & smoky bacon, both very scrumptious. Very friendly staff & a lovely view over the water , would recommend a visit here ...
L. M.
Great vegan cheesecake. Strong coffee
B. L.
Gorgeous cakes, amazing Pekoe tea and a great selection of wines! A casual selection of sharing boards and light bites. The service was great tonight but has been a bit disinterested in the past.
C. K. (.
This was my second visit to Toast and both times I’ve loved it. The food is stunning, the staff super friendly and helpful and the ambiance with the soft jazz background music and lovely views over the water, is perfect. Favourite place in Edinburgh (and there are so many amazing places in Edinburgh)! Oh and the coffee is the best I’ve ever had...
D. M.
Very popular breakfast stop in Leith.
D. M.
Visited on thursday just gone -- it was my third time here -- and the service was incredible. Friendly, with a great atmosphere. Lemon drizzle cake was insane, good drinks. And they do biscoff ice cream. Also I left wishing the woman who served me was my ****ing best friend. Visit.
A. W.
Toast has a welcoming and relaxed vibe, though it can get a little noisy at times.
The wine selection is great and all food is really reasonably priced for small plates and brunches. Special shout out to the huevos rancheros!
C. K.
Lovely little cafe with delicious deserts, ice cream, and drinks. Staff were attentive and polite, and the couple of small errors were fixed quickly and with no fuss. We were not hurried on even though the place got busy and we only had our water left. Advice on the tea: your infuser doesn't go deep enough into the water so once you pour a small cup the tea stops infusing. Maybe it's 'a thing' though and I'm just late to the party on that one. Would come again.
M. L. (.
Great food and great coffee, very comfortable and very well run - staff seem very professional without being overly solicitous. Great music as well. Hope to return for an evening meal and to try their wines. Good beer on tap.
A. D.
Great food, great sevice.
J. P.
Been twice in the last month for lunch, and can't fault this place. The food is mouth watering-ly good, views of Leith water, very friendly & charming staff and its dog friendly. What more do you want?
J. &. D. B. F.
Lunch menu was small with good selection so we were able to make an easy decision. Prices were fair for the quality and portion size.
Had a dessert while we hung out and it was delicious.
Don’t come if your in a rush it’s a good sit down and slow down spot.
J. F.
First visit here, and wow.
I was visiting my brother, and he said we should come here for breakfast. He definitely wasn't wrong!
I had a simple bacon sandwich, which turned out to be much more than simple, and much better than anything I've made myself. I really need to learn how to make sourdough bread like these guys! I now know why they offer just toast on the menu: it's cracking stuff.
Fantastic place to get a decent coffee and really decent food.
S. S.
Absolutely amazing place. Great staff and food. I would thoroughly recommend it.
R. G.
Great place for brunch. The huevos ranchos are delicious and filling, perfect for a Sunday walk or before a day shopping. They also serve beautiful patisserie that wouldn't go amiss in a high-end Parisian bakery. Sometimes my partner picks me up their coconut and passion fruit mousse cake on his way home as a surprise. The decor is stylish and there are lovely views out over the river. I go there for a coffee and to write or simply to watch the world go by.
p.
Was hoping the toast at toast was going to be a little but more inspired, but there was lots of it!
E. G. Z.
I went for lunch and I got a delicious croque and coffee. Staff were friendly and very informative - this is a really well organized place - amazing food plus nice views :)
A. M.
Toast is one of my favourite brunch places in Leith. Staff are very professional and the atmosphere is amazing, like you're at a Michelin star restaurant. I had avocado and toast with an amazing lemon and chilli sauce.
J. S.
Lovely staff. Tempting cakes but lots of savoury choices for a meal. Try the ORANGE wine, Falanghino
G.
Great cocktails! Welcoming and warm setting. Great selection of cakes avail at all times with dairy and gluten free options too 😁 Dog friendly as well 🐕
J.
Service was attentive. The Croque Madame was really tasty - would recommend.
D. L.
Excellent Coffee & Divine French Patisserie. Generous portion on the lunch menu. Friendly helpful staff ..beautiful outlook over The Water of Leith..& great ambience..love a bit of light weght Jazz. Love the decor..my watering hole.

Great new food and wine bar on The Shore. Spent most of Saturday in here with sharing food plates and some great wines. The place is nicely kitted out with great decor. Service good, bustling atmosphere but with a good vibe.
I. H.
Very good service, nice view & great experience for a afternoon tea for me last week.
D. M.
Well intentioned but Inexperienced servers are made nervous by a tense manager/owner. Too much loitering and hovering. Probably OK if you sit by the window. Quality of coffee and fruity water was good.
c. g.
Nice place, great coffees, very nice people. Toilets very clean.
A. W.
Beautiful location with a lot of tasty-looking items on the menu. Have experienced a variety of food and service quality, however these tend to have been dealt with by staff in a timely manner.
S. M.
Lovely atmosphere. Great service. Tasty food. Also ice cream & cakes!!
М. У.
The food and coffee were good but the place is a little pricey for nothing that special. Also on the weekend you can book a table for up to 2 hours which is kind of strange (and it is not nice to hear "you have 15 minutes" :D )
c. g.
Wine bar with predominantly tapas type menu. We chanced upon this lovely place on our way to see the Brittania. What a find, wine recommendation from Mharia was spot on to our tastes the food was gorgeous. Wonderful flavours and excellent value for money. If we lived around here we would make this a regular. One word of warning though, don't look at the desserts in the fridge you'll pile on the calories deciding which ones to try.
S. V.
Went here by accident as we were exploring the area. Turned out to be a fantastic place, lovely food with excellent service. Highly recommended! Ps their coffee is amazing
B. H.
Lovely breakfasts. I like the decor and atmosphere inside. It's in a great location on the shore. Quick service. Great for a drink outside on a sunny day.
D. B.
Lovely food options, though service was a bit slow, not terribly though and gives you time to soak in the very nice ambiance and scenery from nearby Leith river and pretty neighborhood. Quite cosy and has occasional live music jazz I think and lots of wine choice available so would be very pleasant in the evenings
R.
The place was busy. Friendly stuff. Food is ok, but not fabulous. Good place for breakfast.
S. d. M.
Toast is a very nice restaurant in Leith. I've eaten there several times now, and the food, the coffee and the service are always excellent. There's always a crowd - an indication that I'm not the only one who likes this little gem. Breakfast?... try the Huevos Rancheros if you want something different and tasty.
H. b. S.
Very nice place, we went for lunch the menus are good, V, VG & GF choices food was delicious, service good & friendly, was very busy when we went as it was a Saturday, had a bit of a wait outside whilst waiting in on a table inside, worth the wait. Would recommend, Thanks Toast 😊 for an enjoyable lunch
J. W.
Friendly staff, buzzy yet relaxed vibe, yummy cappuccino and no doubt excellent food (though we didn't have time to eat). Will definitely return on my next visit. 👌
H. R.
Ok so it was busy, and we were warned that there was a wait for food but seriously it took 30 minutes for 3 flat whites that were barely warm.
Yes we should've said something but typically because they were busy we put up with it.
When the food did arrive it was good
F. S.
Smoked haddock chowder - not too creamy and sourdough toast. Followed by salted caramel uce-cream. Wee bit if s New York vibe. Will definitely be going back there .
A. K.
The best avocado toast I’ve had my whole life.
J. F.
Very happy, staff attentive, letting us feel unrushed and enjoyed our meal in a very relaxed atmosphere.
A. B.
Love the food...service always good and attentive ..only small weeny negative is that it's often really draughty when the door opens, (today it was propped open) and I've sat with my coat on at times while eating their lovely food. So while it is sometimes a bit cold for comfort, I will always go back for the food.
J. P.
Friendly helpful staff, good food and positioned near the trendy area close to Leith docks - what's not to like!
O. H.
Cosy place with lovely chilled music. The coffee was perfect and the food was delicious. Liked it so much I came back the next day and it was just as wonderful! Definitely somewhere I'd come back to again.
S. N.
Excellent place for delicious food and luscious cakes. Not large particularly with distancing and tables removed but friendly managment and worth the wait.
W. F.
A beautiful establishment with friendly staff for a fabulous brunch overlooking the Leith. Well worth a visit, even more f it's just for the delicious coffee

b. w.
Excellent. Food delicious. Friendly staff. Excellent location and seats outside.
P. L.
Lovely atmosphere and such friendly staff. Cakes looked amazing but didn't have one. Drinks were great.
S. M.
Their selection of wine is vast enough to challenge upmarket venues on George Street. Very nice place to drink as well, especially during summer when you can sit outside and look across the Water of Leith.
s. m.
Only stopped in for coffee, but the experience was nice. The outside seating was very enjoyable, the service was quick and friendly, the inside seemed like a very nice clean quiet environment.
M. G.
Very nice and comfortable place, went there for sunday brunch. Avocado toast was amazing! As all the rest of the food. I do recommend!! Good service and good prices.
q. s.

If you visit Leith, you have to visit Toast for breakfast, great food and atmosphere. Staff are great too, just be sure to either reserve or get there early if you want breakfast, it’s very popular and easy to see why! Highly recommend!

A. K.
The food was very tasty and the blonde lady that served us (I wish I got her name to mention in this review) has made our experience there amazing with her great customer service and how nice she was.
S. N.
£6.30 for a small Americano and a small Cappuccino with too much milk, both take away, is a bit of a rip off. Even in lockdown. This is Leith not Morningside.
F. M.
Highly recommended if you are in Leith area. Super friendly staff, nice atmosphere and super tasty food (specially their TOAST BENEDICT). Also the view over the windows is a delight...
S. B.
We had the lamb shatsuka + the courgette turkey 'patties' - seems quite middle eastern, Ottolenghi-inspired food & we really enjoyed. Food prices very reasonable
A. C.
Great menu, and service
P. P.
The brunch was excellent, very tasty. Nice coffee too. Would definitely go back.
A. L.
This place is amazing. The staff is really friendly. The music is chill and nice and the quality of products is great I have nothing to mark badly. Even the price is very good for what they offer.

A. S.
Brilliant spot for breakfast, excellent service too. Well worth a visit if you are in the area - and if you are not... Go to the area then visit!

Amazing on a sunny day (and not poor on a bad one either). Beautiful views over the shore and a great wine list (there's an English one which is somehow still my favourite!)
