Reviews of Café D'Jaconelli
h. h.
Had the best big breakfast ever, went down a treat. Great atmosphere and the customer service was second to none. Very reasonably priced too. I didn't have any room to fit in a knickerbocker glory but I will do next time. If you've never been, you gotta try this wee gem of a place
T. W.
Good breakfast, with amazing retro interior full of character. They also sell a huge selection of classic sweets and ice cream.
D. L.
Went with friends for coffee and a bacon roll very reasonably priced before taking a walk along the canal. Went back later in the afternoon for milkshakes. Very iconic Maryhill cafe
m. J.
Been going here since I was young, food is beautiful, staff are brilliant 👏
L. A.
A traditional old fashioned cafe, with a simple, good value for money menu and the friendliest staff you've ever met.
A. S.
Always the best in Maryhill for that classic homey breakfast/brunch/icecream desserts! Prices very good and always very nice staff!
L. P.
A Maryhill classic. A traditional cafe with bags of character and friendly people. Great place for breakfast, ice cream or sweets. The decor is classic and there is a jukebox. If you are anywhere near Maryhill it a must visit. Great place.
G. H.
Good coffee and breakfast. Also allowed my dog in too!
W. L.
Best known Italian cafe known to man,
A must visit for the best ice cream!
m. G.
A real throw back to the "Glasgow Cafe"... Food is top notch also
B. F. S.
Great breakfast selection! Lovely wee place
C. F. l.
Wonderful place amazing BLTs and there homemade ice cream is top quality there’s nothing like it I used to come here when I don’t good at school as a treat the ice cream I will never forget I can’t wait to return soon
M. M.
Nice little cafe, but the staff was in a hurry. I arrived 45 minutes before closing time and the staff already told me that they are closing soon, also mentioning that they ran out of some ingredients for the meals. I wish the atmosphere was a little bit more welcoming, it is better to ask what the customer would like first and mention the closing time 15-20 minutes before closing.
L. M.
A real Glasgow gem! Simple tasty food well done. Great value. Really friendly, happy staff. Plus it's just featured in the film, 'The Last Bus'. Brilliant wee place!😋😃
N.
Famous for their ice-cream they should be famous for breakfast it was delicious and the staff were lovely. Not much seating but totally worth the wait however they also do take out
S. L.
We went here for breakfast which is always very good tasting and excellent value for money. Nice staff and excellent service. The ice cream is also fantastic....
D. O.
A Glasgow institution. Best scran and prices in old school decor. Lovely family run it.
E.
Good, reasonably priced food! Great service! Nice little place :) I would only suggest getting sugar dispensers, you know the ones where one tilts the whole thing for about a teaspoot to come out.
Either way we will be back. ;)
e. o.
Absolute classic run by lovely people. The ambient is wonderful, the only problem may be that there is no toilet but if you are desperate the staff will let you use their loo. The food is typical Scottish fast dining, generous and very affordable. They are known for their breakfast but they have the best milkshake in the world. I don't say it lightly.
J. E.
Lovely staff, banging rolls, homemade ice cream, vintage decor. Sub £10 for a solid breakfast for 2. Would recommend.
E. G.
I use to go here when I was wee I stayed in 77 Northpark Street I love this cafe there food and ice cream is amazing any time I'm in Maryhill I get a big tub ice cream. Takes me back when I was a kid.

This was where I was sent a reply from you Christine Stevie Wonder and his only number one hit song 🎵 I Just Called To Say I Love You as the manager James and his wife Sharon and a girl called Susan told me that they wanted to meet you here too as my brother Alexander lives across the road from there at Dunnard Street and across the road from The Munns Pub as I was eating my lunch there too when your reply came through my Christine Brand* new IPhone
M. H.
It was a nostalgia visit. I used to go there in early 70s waiting for my driving lesson from queens cross driving school which was across the road. Lunch was lovely. Girls were so helpful and friendly. Very enjoyable visit. Thank you. 👏👏👏
d.
Walked 2 miles from the station to find this cafe because I’m a big Trainspotting fan and this cafe didn’t disappoint. Great atmosphere, lovely decor, good music and welcoming and kind staff that even accommodated my needs for wanting a photo taken here. I’ll definitely come again next time I’m in Scotland! Thank you x
m. m.
Everyone should experience this cafe lovey and very attentive staff which is run by family. Food simply delicious!!!
G. S.
Amazing food, top class service, a real old fashioned feel to the place, like stepping back in time. It's one of my all time favourite places to brunch.
Favs include spicy chicken burger, the big breakfast. The ice cream is to die for. Never had a "less than" experience once. Keep it comin' you will NOT be disappointed.
m.
Brilliant place for cones. I think the recipe has slightly changed since I was a bit but it seems is still very tasty.
The decor has not changed either and has that quaint feel to it that I hope does not go away.
The staff are very cheerful and helpful.
The prices are very reasonable.
Overall I would recommend this wonderful cafe to the world.
Thank you Cafe` D' Jaconelli for taking me back to a place where I can relive eating my vanilla cone with a touch of raspberry sauce. 🤩
G. S.

Have often driven past and seen the lights on and thought it looked like it was straight from the 50's. Decided to call in one day and it was like going back in time lol. Fabulous ice cream sundaes. Definitely worth a wee visit.
J. O.
Ir was a privilidge to visit Jaconalli s today on my second visit inva few weeks after an absence of some 65 years. My Mum used to take me there in the 50 s and 60 s. I was born in Hathaway Street. It s wonderful that the cafe still has many of the same features now. The staff and the proprietor are lovely people and are justly proud of the heritage of this historic cafe. The coffee and food are also great. Thanks to Jaconnelli s. Lovely
R. R.
Top quality food and well priced, highly recomend the bacon rolls!
S. M.
Loved the art deco period interior design.
Service and food good and cheerful staff.
They even allowed my little doggie in so long as she stayed under the table!
L. R. G.
Amazing wee family run business. Think it’s being going for well over 50 years. The ice cream is the best in Scotland, by far! Would highly recommend!
O. P.
Best cafe in glasgow and affordable for all, love that they have kept the origional interior
J. W.
If you fancy a greasy spoon friendly service and cheap prices this is the place
x.
Great wee place. Quite small so not that many tables to sit in inside. But great for a sandwhich or toastie to take away. They are also part sweet shop & have a great selection on offer if you've got a sweet tooth.
f. a.
Great traditional cafe. Snacks meals and ice cream.
J. M.
Been going for around 5 years now since moving back to maryhill believe me when I say everything is amazing if your looking for an amazing cafe who actually builds relationships with their customers this is it James (or Jamesy) as I call him and the rest Of the family make you feel like the cafe is yours only complaint is they put 4 inches on my waistline also helped me out for Valentine’s Day and my girlfriends birthday cake
A. M.
Wonderful and super friendly. Honest food at honest prices.
A gem well worth visiting.
H. 2.
Best value for money breakfast in Glasgow.
K. E.

Cosy wee cafe steeped in history. Feels like you're in the 40's. Great food and very good prices. Staff are brill. Amazing sweet shop. Also, check out the fish tank and juke box.
N. T.
It's been a few years since I visited, but I remember a warm welcome and a hearty breakfast on a wet, cold, windy day. A half hour of cosiness, before venturing out again.
N. G.
Great cafe, great food, staff very friendly. Would highly recommend this place
F. W.
Went here for breakfast, which we thoroughly enjoyed and not expensive . A lovely wee Cafe, with nice friendly staff. Would recommend.
S. A.
Hideen gem with a warm and friendly staff at a place that looks like a 50s diner and plays some good ol' tunes. Serves great local English food and does some really good milkshakes and ice cream
C. M.
I couldn't keep my mouth shut when I randomly dropped in to get myself a bacon roll on a visit to Glasgow. The decor was so well preseved, so perfectly authentic, that I cynically assumed that one or both of the blond haired characters from Chewin' The Fat (Oh the banter..) was going to wander through from the kitchen and tell me all about how wonderfully working class I looked. Not so- this cafe has been running since 1924 and is, highly unusually, just well maintained through the decades.
Clearly, the successive managers of Jaconelli's have correctly taken on the roles of custodians rather than innovators and the result is a startlingly transformative portal into a timeless environment. There aren't a huge amount of attractions to take travellers into Maryhill but this cafe is worth the visit.
If you're as old as me, it's the cafe you went to when you were a child and couldn't afford a quarter of sweeties. If you're not, it's the cafe you go to when you decide to ignore the questionable data that Public Health England decided to rely on when they reduced the recommended sugar dose by half when what they really meant was that we should reduce our calorie intake. Either way, Jaconellis is either the perfect battle ground to challenge the findings or the traitors gate if you accept the findings but believe that we should take all things in moderation- including moderation.
C. M.
Proper old school scots/italian cafe. Have been a couple of times as an adult but most vividly remember getting an ice cream mess here with my nanny and grandpa over 40 years ago. (was about 4 and could not get my head around why the adults were asking for "messes") - You can still get ice cream mess's and a whole selection of sweeties. Yesterday I left with some raspberry bon-bons and chocolate limes... Magic!
a. w.
Cosy great service and generous portions best hot chocolate in Glasgow. And accommodate the needs of kids. Cheery friendly bunch of people. Jus luv it.

Like walking into a time warp with big curved booths and 60s decor, certainly worth a visit though not really big enough for wheelchairs and seating in booths not comfortable for disabled customers.

F. B.
Lovely staff, nothings too much bother, prices are great,Duke box has great selection of music & radio free, wifi is also available, I'm not too sure how a wheelchair would get in,maybe sit at the end table, but only room for 1 in thay case, also dosent have a customer toilet or baby changing areas,if you ask they will lead you through the back to their toilets, yea that's not ideal but it is a very old cafe which is steeped in glasgows history,so it wasnt built to accommodate a toilet, as buildings back in the day werent, very enjoyable experience, I'd recommend the lentil soup, the breakfasts & the ice cream is to die for,
NOT ENOUGH PLACES LIKE THIS LEFT, LONG LIVE JACONNELIS, please don't ever decorate 👌
NO PROBLEM MATE,WELL DESERVED
Soz for being a best mate, I see all the 5 stars, shoulda but csuse I did say no disabled parking i had to take one off,
In today & must say I love the vibe with the young staff but was disappointed by mums cheeseburger. It was black & had to take it back. I'm hoping just a bad day
