Reviews of Cafe Strange Brew

Had been told great things of this place and had unsuccessfully attempted a visit previously. A trip south today and well worth it. Menu had everything from traditional morning rolls to burritos, pancakes and baked eggs. Something for everyone. Quality and portion size for the price was outstanding. Service was lovely. Atmosphere was cosy and warm. I can’t wait to go back
G. F.
This is just an excellent place for breakfast or brunch, with great service.
The food is incredible, with great portions and a decent range of choice on the menu.
Service was amazing - attentive and chatty. Just generally very nice people.
We were in for a good while and didn’t feel rushed to leave, even as the queue was building up outside.
They allow dogs in - it’s clear the staff are animal lovers!
I loved it - can’t wait to go back.
R. L.
Lovely staff. Lovely food. Everyone should come here at least once. But come early. If you’re not there by nine am you might have to wait. I usually order the Brew Benedict with extra potato scones. Very filling and sets you up for the day!! Would recommend.
R. k.
It was a nice experience overall.
A long wait time, but it was worth the wait.
The staff are extremely nice. They were accommodating and attentive from the moment we’ve entered till we left.
Food was great and flavorful.
*Though, as other reviewers noted, a bit oily. If only they can modify the amount of oil as it ruins the experience.
S. K.
Amazing service and food. One must visit if u are in Glasgow. Worth the hype and the wait. We were told to wait for 30-45 mins.. But we're called in just after 15 mins. Loved their egg Benedict with smoked salmon. Also their Mexican skillet. Their hot chocolate was to die for. Overall loved the experience.
S. R.
Loved this place. Most importantly the food was amazing, but the service was also excellent and the staff are very welcoming. Food came out pretty quick as well which was good for everyone's safety because I was hungry.
H. L.
Absolutely amazing cafe with friendly staff and gorgeous food. The music wasn't too noisy, but the kitchen noise was a bit loud.
The chorizo hash was executed perfectly with roasted golden potato and chirizo slices, suitable amount of cheese and perfect tried eggs. The green onions brought more flavour to the dish and prevents you to feel too full.
The lemon curd blueberry cheesecake was perfect as well. The lemon curd was not sour nor was the cheesecake too filling. The sweetness was perfectly balanced. It was also very creative to not have solidified the cheesecake to keep it spreadable.
The matcha latte was quite good as well. The waitress kindly advised us to add vanilla syrup since it might've been too bitter. However, it was a bit chunky since the matcha powder wasn't completely stirred in, making it quite bitter at the bottom.
The cortado was just right for someone who doesn't want to consume an entire cup of coffee or a mere shot of caffeine.
L. F.
Finally managed to get a table to sit in here (it's very popular - every time I've walked past before I've never been able to sit in). I had the blueberry and lemon cake which was great and the coffee was good too 😀
I saw lots of people around us having tasty-looking eggs and main courses, although the portions are big so arrive hungry!

Down in Glasgow overnight and decided to walk out to this wee gem for breakfast.
Got seated straight away, but you might have a wait if there's a few of you.
Ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice which was honestly delicious and an Americano, as well as the Stornoway stack (which I'd eye's up on the menu in advance).
I reckon my food came within 3 minutes and what a stack!
Soughdough toast, potato Scones, rich peppery black pudding, crispy bacon and a tingly warm, slightly sweet chilli jam swirled around the plate.
I reckon it may well be the nicest breakfast I've ever had.
The cafe itself is lovely, simply decorated and interesting, cosy but busy and the staff are enthusiastic and seem to openly love what they're doing.
T. J.
Fantastic Café for Breakfast or Brunch. The Stornoway Stack was divine paired with a very well made and balanced Flat White. The Black Pudding Deluxe roll was also spot on, with a beautiful pillowy white roll that was as fresh as can be.
The décor is very on trend and hip. If i am ever in the area again i won't hesitate to return for another fab treat.
M. M.
Great spot for breakfast - friendly staff, delicious food and very reasonably priced. Lots of vegan options too.
The portions were a good size and everything was really well seasoned. We had the vegan burrito, vegan breakfast bap and granola all of which were lovely. The coffee is also top notch and a steal at £2 for a long black.
Would definitely return!
A. M.
Best brunch in Glasgow by far! Waitresses are super nice, food is awesome, dog friendly, only thing is the wait time but completly worth it!
B. W.
Really nice cafe and nice coffee. However, the scrambled tofu burrito was sadly extremely oily… it actually tasted very nice but the amount of oil kind of ruined it for me. Maybe it was just a one off but it’s a 3 star from me
S. K.
It's an amazing cafe! Loved the menu, and the food was just perfect ❤️ ahhh totally recommend it.. Super nice staff and the place was so lovely ❤️ first and not the last time! 💓💓
A. F.
I'm already 2 bites in, and oh my god. This is amazing. Probably the best thing I've had in ages. Thank god somewhere that has flavour in the food 😋😋. And iced coffee, just beautifully balanced.
I'm so happy. I will definitely come again and again.
J. M.
Amazing brunch food and coffee, always my go to for a relaxed weekend brunch date. Great vegan options!
N. L.
Amazing small cafe with delicious pancakes and good tea and hot chocolate. We ordered the Nutella & raspberry pancakes and Maple syrup pancakes and the service was quick and the staff kind. Would definitely visit again
H. M.
Wonderful food, the best brunch I’ve ever had! What truly made this place was the energy of the staff. Kind, genuinely happy and willing to help and so bubbly!
As someone who use to work in hospitality I usually get anxious eating out as I know the stress the industry is under but each staff member here made me feel completely at ease.
P.S. I love that it is dog friendly - so many cute fury friends!
Y. B.
I liked most of their food. Except the Salmon wasn’t raw smoked salmon but more like flaky marinated with something having a strong smell. The ice latte was nice.
But it’s a really long waiting for a table even on Monday after 2 o’clock(40 mins). It’s a very popular place better booking first to go.
Total experience was good.
S. M.
Always amazing food, service is excellent, love the air con and the layout is really good, brilliant music coming through a top notch sound system and really very good value for money. Today's dishes fulfilled all our wishes, see photos:
Pancake stack with banana, nut brittle, whipped cream, caramel sauce and toasted coconut.
Chorizo Hash, chorizo, sautéed potatoes, sriracha mayo, spring onions, poached egg and loads of flavour.
May occasionally have a short wait but there's a text you table ready method in place and time passes quickly in Shawlands.
Can't wait till our next visit.
S. A.
This review feels long overdue.. my favourite brunch place in Glasgow. Excellent food, more than fair prices and very friendly staff. It’s great to see one of the original brunch places in Glasgow maintaining such high standards years. Highly recommend a visit if somehow you’ve not been here before.
S. I.
A trip south today and well worth it. Menu had everything from traditional morning rolls to burritos, pancakes and baked eggs. Something for everyone. Quality and portion size for the price was outstanding. Service was lovely.
U. B.
The food was amazing. I had the green hush and it tasted very very good. The size of the portion is great, even quite large. Very friendly and attentive service. The matcha latte was not my favorite and quite pricy, but definitely worth a visit. Dog friendly in top!
V. S.
100% recommend stop by.
Amazing coffee, very nice staff and the food is so delicious
M. W.
This is now a Shawlands staple and it’s hard to find a better place for breakfast in this part of town, even though there are so many good options around. Really varied breakfast and lunch options, including delicious vegan options. Portions are big, so be careful :)
M. B.
BEST PANCAKES EVER!! Cafe strage brew is a total Gem in glasgow. The staff are extremely friendly. Also my doggy got treated like royalty. The coffee was outstanding. The pancakes to die for. All by all worth a 1000 stars.
N. R.
Fantastic food wonderful friendly staff. So different from any other cafe I've been in before. Absolutely fantastic . Five stars definitely for the whole experience
W. S.
Amazing choice from menu..including daily specials and food did not disappoint..staff and service lovely and friendly and although busy we never felt rushed and had a wonderful experience..definitely be back and highly recommended
K. Z.
Just quality tasty food food, speaks for its self as a Glasgow sorta foodie landmark, , good varied menu items, good price point well presented and tastes amazing my personal fave is the chorizo hash. Really nice fully bodied coffee as well, I usually take a cappuccino and it's a great pairing with any the dishes below.
Chorizo Hash,
Stornoway stack
L.
Everyone is so warm and I feel so welcomed! Love the atmosphere here!
W. H.
My friend and I went for breakfast on a Tuesday morning and this wee cafe was buzzing. People waiting to get a table to come in which is always a great sign for somewhere you've never ate before. The atmosphere is quirky and relaxed.
I had the Stornoway Stack which was toasted sourdough bread, smoked bacon, 2 tattie scones, 2 VERY generous sized slices of Stornoway Black Pudding topped with 2 poached eggs with chilli jam round the side of the plate. This was a tremendous plate of food and was absolutely delicious.
Cafe Strange Brew definitely has a great menu which I'm looking forward to going back to try something else on it! Would definitely recommend 👌
c. m.
Best cafe in Glasgow for brunch! Always a queue so plan ahead (they don't take bookings) and its very cozy inside space wise - but that all adds to the great atmoshphere and fantastic food! Great varied choice on the menu for food and drink. Look out for their daily specials on the board inside. Service was prompt & mega friendy - also dog friendly!
C. H.
A truly awesome place for breakfast, as you can see quality food thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family, coffee excellent with friendly staff to round it all off. Be prepared to wait at busy times but as usual it is well worth it, a busy corner of Glasgow so plan ahead to enjoy the whole experience that is Cafe Strange Brew.
A. B.
Super delicious eats!
Best poached eggs & asparagus! Highly recommend!
They have a Specials board with a fancy pancake options! This one is spiced plums! YUMS!!
Delicious!
C. M.
Amazing, quality food. Great portion sizes. Food was presented beautifully. Loved the layout and the look of the shop. Staff absolutely went over and above expectations with their beautiful hospitality, chattiness and friendliness. Nothing was too much to ask. Been a long while since I’ve tried coffee that tastes that delicious too!
However😩.. I did ask for a hazelnut latter and was just given an ordinary latte which initially was disappointing but ended up the coffee was so tasty I didn’t need much sugar. Or possibly it was sweetened with a bit of syrup but I certainly did not taste it. I am a bit of a nerd for coffee so I’m funny when people get my order wrong though I’ve got to say in this occasion everything else was spectacular so I couldn’t take any stars off as mistakes happen.
Also one of the menu items had “extra items” listed underneath-I presumed this meant another version of the sandwich for people that didn’t like avocado etc. This meant I had to send the sandwich back as I can’t stand avocado. The woman serving me was an absolute diamond and explained what had happened and couldn’t apologize enough for the misunderstanding. In hind sight I probably skim read and should have been more clear when asking for what I wanted. They made me a new sandwich super quick. I ended up only eating half of it despite how delicious it was because it was so filling! Made a great lunch for later in the day reheated😍 thank you cafe strange brew staff, I’ll definitely be back💞
K. M.
It's not always easy to get a table here but we got in straightaway. Excellent and very substantial brunch, reasonably priced, with friendly, slightly quirky staff. One question is why they sell soft drinks in single use plastic bottles.
C. L.
Brilliant food, they had a wild mushroom french toast special that was unbelievably good. The coffee was great and lovely location only a couple minutes walk to queen's park. Will definitely recommend to my friends and it's definitely worth going out your way for.
c. c.
Some of the nicest food and coffee I've ever had. I can see why there was a 45m wait time!
A. B.
I have an addiction for their vegan pancakes by now, can’t get enough!
The menu has many vegan options, perfect for brunch and the staff is very friendly too!
W. D. (.
Tasty brunch spot in the heart of the Southside. Ordered the blueberry pancakes with maple bacon and my partner ordered the avocado toast with poached egg - the good stuff. Will definitely be back to try out some other dishes.
B. G.
Amazingly creative breakfast dishes in a cozy and friendly atmosphere. Good coffee as well. I would highly recommend to anyone who is vegan or vegetarian or adventurous at heart.
D. A. M.
Loved everything about this place. Great staff too. Well worth a wait. I see why it’s busy, even on a Tuesday morning!
S. F.
Amazing coffee shop! We saw it on Google and thats why we tried it - not disappointed at all!
We came for brunch, we tried the italian egg skillet and the avo on sourdough bread with eggs and bacon. Both were really tasty and very healthy. The staff is really smiley and helpful. Convenient place to have a coffee and of course a breakfast - brunch. Prices are normal. Definately coming back!!
S. B.
Nice café for breakfast. I had one of the options from the specials board and it was delicious. The coffee was very good too.
A. K.
Started my day here when I turned 50 it really is very good. The breakfast is away from the normal greased up food you eat but instead you are given a culinary delight for your taste buds and they are reasonably priced but be warned this is a busy wee place so can get a bit busy but it's worth the wait will defo be going back
C. S.
Loved it. Food was sensational. So much so, my friend and I had two dishes each. Not expensive and good service.
A. P.
Absolutely amazing food. My favourite brunch spot in Glasgow. Keep up the good work, guys. 🫶🏼
D. L.
Can't get a seat unless you sit outside. When you do, it is worth it. Food is great and service is quick. Good job.
H. S.
It gets very busy here, very quickly and queues are common. The service is good and its one of the better places for brunch. I brought younger children here but in my opinion the menu isn't particularly well suited for kids so bear this in mind.
M. A.
I’d totally recommend this breakfast any day! I enjoyed every bite!
tip: order that guy with salmon
Bon appetite!!
B. F.
The food here is simply amazing. There's not too many places that have me thinking "I need to come back here tomorrow" just after I leave, but this was special. Very cosy, we had to wait about twenty minutes for a seat on a Friday lunchtime, but was it worth it. Very reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of food that you get, and very friendly staff. 10/10, perfect and highly recommended.
D. S.
Cafe Strange Brew is one of the gems of the Southside, and Glasgow overall. They serve some of the most delicious food in the city, with plenty of brunchy choices for all dietary types. I can't seem to stop ordering That Guy! Go early because you'll probably have to wait for a table it's so popular.
C. R.
Quite simply the best breakfast I have ever had. Outstanding
M. Z.
I was a bit disappointed when we walked in as there’s nobody greeting you and I had no clue what should we be doing. Plus the kitchen is a part of the restaurant and unfortunately doesn’t have a good ventilation, therefore it’s really steamy and hot and you get to smell really heavily of food days after you leave.
However, once you’re seated (which didn’t take too long) the staff is very friendly and helpful and the food comes fast. And I have to say “that guy” sourdough toast with avocado and poachers was outstanding! I added bacon and it was seriously something I’ll be back for, even considering the smell of all my clothes for the next few days! 😅 Loved it! But the pancakes weren’t what I expected. They looked nice, but the taste wasn’t what you’d expect.
Overall it was a good brunch but if the ventilation improves, I think many more people will be likely to come back more often 😌
J. G.
Very popular cafe, where you often have to wait for a table, but hey, that's all part of the experience. Really tasty food, I usually always have something with eggs!
J.
Food was delicious good variety especially if you want to eat healthy not just for the vegan and vegetarian option. The cafe is always busy as it's so popular we returned at our alloted time. Definitely worth a return visit. Pancake stack. Ice coffee ☕ 🥞
J.
Great little cafe. Food was excellent. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
S.
Had to queue to get in. Very popular place for brunch at the weekend. We were not disappointed with service or the food. Well worth the wait.
D. A.
Very small cafe in southside with great menu. Will have to wait for seating; better to take away.
Y. A.
My second visit and absolutely love the food!
S. B.
I've been a few times as I'm a south sider and service is quick, the staff are amazingly patient, efficient and friendly. Good food and massive portions!
H. A.
Went during their peak times which I would suggest to avoid unless you do not mind queuing. Ordered a toastie with side of soup which was seasoned very well and surprisingly filling. Their vegan options were nice and flavoured but their vegetarian options were nicer. Friendly staff as well.
R. B. R.
Fantastic place. Had pancakes and was really good. All the ingredients were fresh and the taste was good. Doors open at 9 in the morning and you might struggle to get a table by 9:30
S. A.
Just fabulous! The place...fabulous! The staff...fabulous! The food...FABULOUS!! If you haven't been go and do not be put off if there is a queue (which there often is) it's a true reflection of it being popular because it's so good!! What are you waiting for, get going.....it's that good!!
D.
Only been once but will be back.
Went for the pancakes with cardamom spiced pear, blueberries, and pistachio crumble. Pancakes were light and fluffy, and all the flavours combined really well. Though I did get food envy, wishing I had opted for the turkish eggs instead.
K. M.
Food is always outstanding, managed to squeeze us in as a table of two and feed us just 20 minutes before closing which was very kind
A. S.
Lovely wee cafe, great vegan sausage and tattie scone roll, vegan empire biscuit is banging. Can see why this place was packed and has such amazing reviews
D. R.
Ate here for the first time today. Had the Brew Benedict with added bacon and it was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. Friendly service and the food was served quick even though it was busy. Top marks.
J. P.
Unfortunately, we had to eat in the car because they didn’t have a table and didn’t ask if we would like to wait for it... but food was amazing, coffee great!
A. B.
Food was healthy and delicious. Staff were super friendly too.
J. O.
Goof quality espresso and amazing looking food. I only had coffee but the food was looking a-ma-zing on the rest of the tables.
Espresso price is 20p cheaper than the rest of the places. However they dont do loyalty cards.
I will repeat, cheers!
E. M.
Amazing have been desperately wanting to come here for ages! Even got a doggy bag for what I couldn't manage to eat! Lovely friendly staff and dog friendly too !
C.
Fantastic little coffee place with a superb reputation. Need be there at 9am for breakfast or you will be queuing
Also been for a whisky and food night which was excellent value, staff were brilliant, food was amazing, highly recommend
Q. S.
Very good little vegan cafe. Delicious lorne sausage, excellent halloumi and fantastic buns for their meals. The coffee is perhaps a touch lacking and over-strong, but that's a very petty complaint.
H.
Has won food awards for a good reason.
Menu is varied with interesting sounding dishes at a reasonable price.
Pictured is a granola and yoghurt bowl with pistachios, passionfruit and edible flora.
I. M.
Great family breakfast. Tasty pancake options and great savoury breakfast choices. Dog friendly too.
M. K.
Strange but very nice brew, I felt like I was in heaven, which in itself is strange.
R. B.
Great place for breakfast & coffee! Friendly service and cool decor
R. M.
A great Shawlands staple. Always busy. Really very friendly staff who are efficient and effective. Outdoor seating was the name of the day with the weather but it is looking a little tired and could do with some TLC. Food was good and average, pancake stack with bacon and blueberries very good., Scrambled eggs and toast, unfortunately overcooked. A refund was given for the latter but they shouldn't have been served in the first place. Coffees were very good. I will return and would recommend.
K. H.
Lovely food and friendly service. Will definitely be back!
A. S.
Nice place with delicious meals, the waiters are very friendly and smiling
L. C.
Loved this coffee shop! Will 100% be back ☕️❤
H. R.
It was one of the best pancake stacks I ever had. The combinations are unique and pretty imaginative.
Friendly and happy staff.
Quite a long waiting time, thought.
G. W.
Their coffees are great and their food is fabulous. As someone from Texas, their breakfast burrito is one of the most authentic I've had since moving to Glasgow. I've had their bagels as well and their food is so good. I live nearby and go here about once a week!
Y. R.
Popped in for breakfast Sunday morning 9am - couldn't believe how busy for this time of day but no wonder - lovely attentive staff & excellent tasty menu choices. Definitely well worth a visit & we'll be back again soon
S. L.
Delicious food, amazing combinations and quirky decor - highly recommend
S. K.
Fantastic food and for a reasonable price, once you taste it you have to go back.
s. d.
Have stopped by here twice in the one week while out for a walk. The first time was late in the afternoon for a takeaway coffee only then again during a busy lunchtime when they had lots of yummy, hard to pick from cakes. Bought white chocolate and coconut blondies, these alone are well worth the walk alone and a slice of orange ginger and chocolate cake. Looking forward to try something from their lunch menu on my next visit. Would totally recommend and the large, regular queues are worth the wait
M. S.
Fantastic. First time visiting and got coffee and take out. Sweetcorn chowder was the best takeaway soup I've ever eaten and great value too. Partner had the burrito which was also amazing but prepare to get messy when you eat it 😂 will certainly be back.
T. H.
Perfect staff very helpful, quality food & reasonable prices highly recommended
L.
I have no idea what sorcery went into these vegan pancakes but I could cum if you slapped me on the cheek with one.
C.
Food was good but staff is dishonest. They try to sell carton juice for freshly pressed orange juice. I knew that what I got was not freshly pressed orange juice and when I asked the staff again they told me it is. It is fine to sell an overpriced carton juice from the supermarket, but at least be honest about your products.
a. w.
We got a puppy and we're looking for a dog friendly cafe. We were not disappointed and the breakfast rolls and coffee were amazing. The team were very welcoming and friendly. CoCo also gave it the paws up. 😃
G. M.
Just back from first time trying. Service was excellent and quick to turn over the food. My wife had chorizo special and I had turkey and pastrami bagel. Both were very good. No pastries this time. But will defo be back as I want the seafood roll. Great choice.
A. M.
The manager was excellent at accommodating me bu adapting the menu to suit the various intolerances. The food is also very fresh and tasty. I will be back again.
A. R.
Lovely space, always great food on the menu and specials, coffee is fab and nice light interiors too.
N. D.
Amazing vegan pancackes, not sure whuch ones to get so bought both
L. X.
Food nice, very expensive for breakfast.
C. M.
Foods great, inside is a bit canteen like
N. B.
Love Strangebrew. I'll let the pics talk for themselves.
R. H.
Flavours were incredible, staff amazing, excellent recommendation, cant wait to go back
W. F. A.
One of the best hippie cafes in Glasgow. Their food is amazing, the staff are really nice. Almost always busy. Definitely one of my favourite places to have breakfast. Every time I go there, I leave satisfied. Good place to eat with friends and family. It's totally worth every penny!!!
L. B.
Great food and service.
Very welcoming, would definitely recommend it .Coffee was great to .
A. B.
Worth the wait!
The food here is absolutely fab, the service is generally great, and the atmosphere is lively (although a little noisy, as it is regularly busy).
If you want to beat the queues you better get there early, but the food is worth waiting in a queue for. I'd recommend any of the baked eggs dishes as they're delicious!
Definitely a must for any brunch goers or foodie fanatics.
C. M.
Just love their Stornoway Stacker. Friendly staff too.
P. K.
Great service and food/coffee. Pictures speak for themselves.
R. M.
We've been three times, and every time the staff have been incredibly friendly, and the food has been utterly superb. Creative flavour combinations, generous portions, and amazing desserts.
There's a real buzz inside, with an eclectic customer base and an off-the-wall soundtrack that stays on the cheery, surprising, fun side of hipster.
I'd recommend splitting a main and a dessert unless you're really hungry, and make your specials order known from the start if it's a dessert, as they're so popular they could run out before you ask, if it's later in the day.
I brought my dad on a visit and he was blown away by the egg and chorizo skillet. Well worth the trip and the wait to be seated.
D. W.
So today we found this fabulous quirky cafe by complete and utter accident. Having had car problems which needed resolving we realised we were in need of some brunch!
Google maps helped us discover this absolute gem of a place and we are happy to recommend it to absolutely anyone! Great food, fantastic staff and a trendy vibe combine to make one fabulous product! Our only regret is that it’s not closer to where we live or we would most certainly be weekend regulars! Well done to all involved, we truly loved it!
A. D.
Great service, amazing food every time. It s just the waiting for a table. But they are that popular and have a good system to contact you when a table is ready !
A.
Loved it !!!! Great vibes, cute cafe, fantastic delicious food, wonderful staff. 😋 they have it all. Other cafes should be aspiring to be like this place 💚☮⚡🌈💘
K. M.
Very popular, friendly cafe with interesting range of breakfast options. The food wasn’t all my taste but the queue of people waiting for tables shows that many other people really enjoy the choices on the menu, Prices are not low for the cafe environment, but they are not high either, and service is quick and friendly. (I really enjoyed the cake options, much more than breakfast!). Overall, very good but I won’t race back as I’d prefer more “boring” standard breakfast options.
V. L.
Delightful little place, super friendly staff and lovely vegan options. The pancakes stacks are massive!
S.
Been here twice now and could not fault the service or the food. The staff never stop. Would definitely recommend a visit here. No photos, would rather eat my food than take photos
H. M.
This place is fantastic for breakfast/brunch. We ordered loads of things and it was all lovely. We happened to time it well and instantly sat down. We saw quite a few people waiting to be seated when we came in but I guess that’s just more evidence as to how good it is. Can highly recommend eating here. Will come again.
N. B.
Absolutely love this place. Food is great.
A. G.
Incredible food! I had the burrito and blueberry pancakes. Best pancakes I had in my life! It’s quiet busy with a long wait, come early!
S.
Super busy during lunchtime with 20 minute wait time for a table. We got some take aways which were great. Can recommend the hummus bagel.
S.
I love this place! One of my favorite places to eat breakfast or lunch anywhere. The dishes are creative, beautiful, and very tasty. I've never seen such gorgeous pancakes! They call them American-style but I don't think they are... they're much better. My Americano had that quality espresso taste so worth just grabbing a coffee to take away. I recommend "That Guy" with grilled mushroom.
M. P.
Excellent service, ambience, menu and the food I received was really good. Unique and excellent breakfast menu which was a pleasant surprise. The place was really busy but the staff were very pleasant and very helpful. I would say it's the best breakfast I have had in a long time. Cant recommend enough :)
E. B.
Loved their breakfast burrito (super flavorful!) and coffee. Cafe had a great atmosphere and staff was kind
M. M.
My favourite brunch spot in Glasgow - the food never fails to impress me and the service is always quick. The only downfall is the occasional long wait for a table at the weekends, which is understandable due to the popularity of the place, so I would advise visit during weekdays if possible
L. G.
Absolutely fabulous! Best food I have tasted in a long time and amazing staff too! Can't wait to go back! So good you may have to queue but well worth the wait! What can I say I love you!
💖
I. K.
Visited this place on a handful of occasions, varied menu with a different touch, reasonable prices, great food and coffee always to a high standard.....
A. B.
It's not the most original thing to say, but Cafe Strange Brew is possibly the best brunch in Glasgow.
E. R.
Amazing breakfast and the team were awesome. It was super busy and the team did an amazing job keeping everything COVID safe and dealing with impatient customers. Really, really applaud their level of service.
A. A.
Very tasty food and good drinks, if you're happy with a short wait outside for your table.
J. C.
Best breakfast I've had since I started travelling Europe 6 months ago. Great coffee, perfect Hollandaise, comfortable atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. If I lived in Glasgow this would be my haunt. Cheers guys!
H. L.
Used for the first time today. Not sure about the old wall tiles with all the broken and cracked one's. Could also do with some better ventilation as the windows are all steamed over. However and more importantly the service was good and the food excellent. Would happily go again.
I.
Good place to have a breakfast, but very slow, more than 15 minutes to serve the dish, then the coffee was cold ...
F. M.
Best Pancakes in Glasgow! As an avid 'bruncher' I have been to many places in Glasgow to try various breakfast dishes but the performance by Cafe Strange Brew this morning has definitely put them top of the list! Not only was the food amazing, decently priced and the staff super chill & friendly but we were in and out in just over half an hour!! (Bearing in mind we filled the last empty table!) Will definitely be back!
A. B.
Wanted to discover Cafe Strange Brew for a few years now. Live away. Today I managed a visit and wasn't disappointed. Had a Salmon salad. Beautiful. Will circumstance allowing be back. Humbly recommend folks.
C. W.
Another fine breakfast with friends at this superb cafe. They have really made the best of the tricky covid situation and the kitchen seems more skilled than ever! Great work from the Brew Crew.
A. M.
Great service. Dawn fine coffee.
J. D.
Amazing. Yip, I started off big but it's true. The breakfast I had was the best I had in a long time. The decor is really nice but there is not much space. So if you want to go make sure you go early. As we left there was a queue out the door
M. C.
Loved it. Great food, well priced. You will have to queue, demand is high and frankly it is worth it.
P. B.
Small and friendly cafe in the south side of Glasgow. They are dog-friendly, with enough space to keep the dog by the side of the table. The lunch food was really good, including some cake following up after some very tasty bagels. Will definitely return for more.
M. M.
Utterly exceptional. Good value too.
J. J.
Had the avocado eggs Benedict- was delicious. Fresh delicious food and service was friendly and quick! Reasonable priced too
m. b.
Nice food. Generous portions.
g. m.
Fantastic food, was in with my son Martin for 1st time, will be back again,, staff so helpful & friendly
R. B.
Lovely welcoming staff. They kept the Covid rules. The food was fresh and very nicely plated up. Their cakes were absolutely beautiful. All in all a great lunch experience 😊😊😊.
F. R.
Always delicious. Our wee one felt so special today getting a delivery of sprinkles for her 'cino to the table as they'd run out. Thank you for keeping her favourite brunch miles ahead of the competition ❤️
K. M.
Just had a fantastic vegan breakfast (beetroot, roasted cauliflower, hummus with sprinkled wonderful seeds and parsnip on top), and a great vegan chai cake. I am very pleased and recommend this place! My non vegan other half enjoyed his food as well... (he didn't enjoy listening to me nudging him about veganism)... 😜
S. W.
This is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. So creative!
J. R.
Best brunch in Glasgow! Had Turkish baked eggs with garlic yoghurt, sumac and grilled flatbread along with excellent coffee. As befits it's reputation this place is very busy and you may have a short wait particularly at peak times or at the weekend, but trust me-the food is worth it!!!
A. G.
The staff are friendly and the place busy, however the noise from the kitchen and customers was so loud that I felt I was shouting to be heard. The meal itself was tasty (spanish eggs) but part of one of the eggs was not cooked (clear and runny). The skillet it arrived in was very hot and did cook this part through after a couple of minutes but was surprised to have it served in that state. I mentioned this to the waitress and the took the eggs off the bill. I'd have still paid for them, just wanted them to be more careful in future, but was happy with their enquiry and resolution to the issue. It's average price for the area, but a little high for my tastes and my partner's dish was just a couple of eggs in a lot of cream, garlic and oil which left her unsatisfied for a lunch dish. If something can be done about the noise and some revision made to the menu and care taken in the preparation, this could be a lovely little gem of a cafe.
M. M.
This cafe is beyond exceptional and stands out! It's food and service is remarable quality and the whole visit was a sheer delight. Will be returning knowing that food and service with be of a high standard🥰
R. M.
Good food, hence extremely busy. They won’t take bookings however you can put your name on a list and come back at a set time!! Nope I don’t understand the difference either except you have to be there in person to get on the list. The window seat is overlooked by a bench 3ft above the table and would be ideal for exhibitionists who like an audience while eating!!
L. B.
Cannot fault the food or the service... I just always feel a bit rushed & pressured by the watching, waiting hordes - eagle eye'ing any movement to leave, ready to pounce on their piece of sourdoug. Anyways, the food is utterly delicious, tasty and surprising - i recommend keeping an eye on the specials board. Go early to avoid the unsatiated, door dwelling drones or forever be held in their sullen gaze! Update: This was a pre-covid review... Now must go at least 30 minutes before you even think about eating. Food still as good as always.
A. O.
this place is always slammed, with good reason. it's consistently delicious 😍
A. M.
Decent enough coffee - not the bezt ever cup of joe but not the worst either didn't wait long, dude that served us was pleasant. In general strange food tastes better than the pdd coffee - still better than chain
A. C.
Lovely place, delicious, interesting food (plenty of vegan options), great atmosphere, helpful staff, and, turns out is run by an old friend! I wish you all the best with your awesome business Laurie. I shall be back :)
K. S.
I think this was the first of the really trendy breakfast places in the Southside. It looks quite Scandinavian on the inside and is really bright and fresh. The food is nice overall- I've had some great stuff in here and love the fact they have bottles of Sriracha on the tables. Last time I was in however I think they'd mixed some banana in with my avocado on toast since it tasted a bit like banana. The avocado looked overripe so I wonder if this was to mask the taste.
S. P.
Amazing place, food is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff are great. Make sure you arrive in time though/have a booking, bc it is always super busy.
M. D.
Great food. Small ,compact, always busy. Expect to wait for a table . Don't walk away. A little gem. But only go if your hungry because portions are huge.
P.
Incredible brunch! I went for the avo toast with Stornaway black pudding. We need one of these in Edinburgh please! Friendly staff and the wait wasn’t too long, but expect to queue for brunch at weekends. Worth it though!
J. A. G. A.
Great place if you're looking for something different. Food's delicious and coffee's fantastic too!
A. R.
Had to try since they were queuing to get in this place. Best to go during off peak time if you don't like waiting. Lots of egg type dishes with sauces. Meat sausage can be replaced to veggie. Yes food does taste top notch.
S. R.
1st time here today,I want to be a regular.... Fantastic food,I had the Stornoway Stack, and apply named.4 beautiful Stornoway black puddings with mushrooms a tomato sauce and not forgetting 2 perfect poached eggs.Is it breakfast, is it brunch or is it lunch. Who cares it's out of this world. Do not miss an opportunity to drop in, it is well worth it.
K. T.
Been meaning to go since it opened but finally got around to it last week at the new (larger) premises. The food was excellent, well priced and perfect for brunch. The specials also sounds great. Won't be long before we are back and am sure it will become a regular haunt.
C. P.
Amazing pancakes and really great value!
A. W.
Still the place for brunch in the southside. Always incredible new specials to compliment the main menu. Baked egg dishes amazing in particular. Busy place, very popular and small premises so be prepared to queue.
L. H.
Great selection of food and drinks. It's a busy place but worth the wait, which is never usually long. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the decor is very cool. Great place for brunch.
J. H.
Great spot, cool vibe. Friendly staff. Coffee is good. Portions were massive when I ordered, which is always good
J. E.
Great food, great coffee and brilliant staff. Couldn’t ask for more.
E. M.
Totally worth the short wait to get in here. Staff were so friendly and food was amazing!! People were in a que in the rain which is a great sign but didn't take long to get in. Best breakfast in a long time in the city. We travelled from other end of city for it. Worth it 😊
D.
Lovely food, friendly staff and quick service. Cafe Strange Brew may not be the largest of places but we didnt have to wait long to be seated and the food was fresh and delicious. Also dog friendly
H. L.
Really lovely place, visited with my dog which was really great. Food was amazing & staff are very friendly.
L. M.
Lovely coffee and food.
Quick and pleasant staff.
Only problem, it was so busy I would have had to wait on a seat - I didn't have time!😣
A. L.
I came from the other end of Glasgow just to visit this place. It was worth the food fresh and delicious. Service very nice and helpful. Many gluten-free and vegan options.
K. G.
Outstanding Service, lovely atmosphere the food was great, good portions. We had three different poached egg dishes and all were great tasty and reasonable value for money. Super runny eggs yummy
L. B.
Stunning food and stunning staff, an absolute joy
A. P.
Excellent food but only disadvantage that it’s outside of town. There is some waiting time but there are seats that you can wait so overall very friendly and convenient place. Wish it was closer to town!!
A. R.
Great spot for brunch/lunch in the southside. Reasonably priced with very friendly staff. Expect to wait between 10 and 20 minutes for a table at the weekend (it's worth the wait).
a. l.
Brilliant cafe! Helpful staff n great food...lots of vegan goodies too! Lots of visible Covid precautions which is v much appreciated. Well worth a visit!!
B. K.
Stornoway Stack. Utterly delicious breakfast! Great place & great service.
K. B.
Freshly made 5* food and so dog friendly
C. D.
Good Vegan and Gluten free options. Outstanding customer service. 10/10 would recommend.
s. h.
Great food, great coffee, and great, friendly service. I’m so glad it lives up to the hype. The Turkish eggs are particularly delicious.
s. H.
Best roll & square I've had! Great friendly service. Takes card payments. Freshly cooked food. Prices are reasonable compared to some other cafés on southside.
S. H.
Ridiculously impressive brunch spot. Annoyingly popular. Top class service and food to match.
Oh and be prepared to wait for a seat on weekends as the flocks of wild instagrammers migrate to their natural habitat.
C. M.
Best pancakes I've ever had. Didn't even know what a mulled pear was till I popped one in my mouth. They let dogs in too, f*cking class.
B. M.
We had an amazing brunch here.... So so tasty and great coffee. All staff so friendly. Dog friendly too which is so so great! Well worth a visit!
J. J.
The food was amazing! The servers were always attentive and super friendly! I will absolutely make this a place I frequent regularly.
S. R.
Very good with Ma and Mayur. Full tummy and 😋
Excellent service. Will recommend.
Don't go on Saturday.
D.
A lot of hype about this place. Not sure why. Food ok, but too breakfasty and a little pricey. Small place was quite noisy, the old tiled walls don't help here. Would I go back. No don't think so. BUT it is very popular so is it just me. Ps don't like coffee they use.
R. M.
Best brunch in town! Stornoway stack up there with the best breakfast I've had, great portions, lovely coffee, will be back! :)
Y. O.
Today I've been introduced to Cafe strange Brew! From the first sip to the last drop of my breakfast, I was knocking on heaven door! 😍😋😁☺🤗 I recommend this place with passion. The place is a bit crowded but it worth it. Enjoy 😍😘😁
S. B.
O.M.G!! The food! The friendly service! The options for those of us who need different dietary options! What a find. Very funky vibe. I'd travel back to Glasgow just to go here. Fab place.
J. B.
This is a really nice wee place with very lovely staff and good coffee
S. V. G.
Healthy portions and delicious too. Great coffee. It can get busy so you might have to wait for a table, but not for very long though!
A. B.
Yes it is brilliant that's why there is always a queue... Stornoway stack amazing pancakes brilliant
j. g.
This place is great! Menu is creative and all about substance- tastes as good as it looks. Aesthetics ambiance cosy and staff lovely. They have a winning rwcioe- clearly shown in the awards and reviews
C. M.

So busy but it's understandable once you taste the food. Amazing food, service and prices. I'll be back for pancakes.
M. K.
Went for breakfast and it was amazing. Well priced and so different to any other restaurant. Would definitely recommend and come back.
C. M.
Brilliant food, very friendly and helpful staff. Gets very busy so expect a wait for a table, but service is anything but slow once seated.
A. C.
First visit to Strange Brew and glad to see they stock Dear Green coffee. In addition to this, the Eggs Benedict with avocado, black pudding and spicy hollandaise may have just propelled Strange Brew to the top of my favourite breakfast places in Shawlands.
T. C.
Best southside cafe. Fab food, good for veggies and big portions. Always busy but worth waiting for a seat.
C. R. (.
A little cafe with big food and great staff. Food here has to be tried to be believed. All made fresh so no junk here. Staff are brilliant.
A. 5.
Had the chorizo hash. Good portion size and very delicious. Would def visit again.
J. R.
Amazing brunch type food. Really generous portions for a decent price, staff are lovely. Really cozy and warm wee place.
K. B.
Breakfast was amazing. The banana pancakes with mascarpone, spectacular. Great service, such a cute atmosphere, and delicious food.
B. K.
Awesome place for lunch or breakfast, been a few times and the food and folk running it are always great. Just be prepared to wait for a seat at weekend lunchtimes, place is packed from 12 till 3!!
A.
10/10 always top food and service
C. C. H.
I'm not in this 'neck of the woods' often but was dragged here one day by a coworker. Was impressed with everything but thought the prices could be slightly lower - seems to be feeding off its hype - which I can see. Would return when I'm back in the south side.
G. M.
Amazing place to eat, and staff are awesome
F. H.
There's always a queue but the food is good if you don't mind waiting! Really enjoyed the ox cheek and eggs special-delicious!
n. s.
Nice atmosphere, food quite upmarket but good quality. Very small space and can feel a bit cramped at busy times. Staff are lovely.
S. M.
Another 5 star brunch at Cafe Strange Brew today, super tasty, filling, affordable and imaginative, check out the exciting menu and specials board, and as always terrific service, thank you, can't wait till next time 😋
G. H.
Quite a lot of queuing, get served through a porthole, if you want to sit in give them your phone number and they will call you when a seat is available.
A. S.
Really great! Food was on point, coffee too. Really good systems in place to keep you feeling safe (COVID wise).
D. B.
Our first time in for ages, but it never disappoints. Chorizo Hash was amazing!
E. H.
Was excellent ! Ingredients were of high quality and fresh. Fast service and very yummy, we will be back
g. T.
This is a small cafe with great food and drinks available including window seats which allow you to people watch the hussle and bustle of shawlands while u relax which is a strangely rewarding thing to do. Can't fault the staff either. Basically if uve time to spare get yourself along here .
K. M.
Excellent staff. Lovely food and nice chilled atmosphere.
E. C.
Oft, yup it's up there.....must try end of lol
T. A. C. T.
From the Tapioca mountains to the north to the Saffron oceans of the south there's no place like Cafe Strange Brew, The Food Witch has upped sticks and cauldron and moved to the other side but still conjures the same magical mischief by the mesmerising plateful.
If you're in Shawlands get the cheque book out and get caught in the spell.
i. b.
Very good cafe offering vegan and vegetarian meals in addition to normal menu. Don't do bookings but you can wait for table inside the cafe.
J. L.
Always worth the wait, such wonderful staff and always so delicious.
C. N.
Great food but I get the feeling going early is a must on a Sunday if you don't want to wait!
O. C.
Yummy food and quick service. They weren't sure if the chicken was halal or not though which is a shame especially in such a busy asian community.
M. L.
Food was amazing. I was in awe at the menu. Options for meat eaters and vegans alike.
Coffee was also perfect.
Will be back!
D. L.
Just ate the breakfast roll with black pudding. Probably the best breakfast roll I've ever had. The sauce is unreal!
A. F.
Place was pretty busy and had a good vibe, sadly their soy milk had curdled and was over-sweet. I would suggest investing in some training on how to work with plant based milks and investing in some more expensive soy milks.
C. S.
Best cafe I’ve discovered in Glasgow. I’ve lived here for two years and haven’t discovered anything close to this quality for this price in the west end or city center. Can’t wait to come back!
L. M.
This place is nice but be prepared to que and que for a while! They have a fair selection of veggie options and are good at letting you swap things about to make a meal you can eat if you have allergies :)
N. S.

C. C.
Great service, great food, big portions and good coffee
L. M.
Over hyped n over priced, cramped n uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend as there is so many other cafés in shawlands to choose from.
D. P.
Too crowded, didn't get a table. What strikes me though is that it says 'open till 4.00pm', then you go there at 2.45pm and they tell you 'sorry, kitchen closes at 3.00' :(
P. C.
Great wee cafe. The coffee was good, the cakes were tasty and the staff were very friendly.
a. m.
Good food and service 😋
