Reviews of Cafe Wander
N. K.
Friendly service great chai latte and fresh juices. Good breakfast at reasonable prices in the city.
R. A.
Lovely wee cafe with fresh, hot food. Good quality ingredients. Eggs were very tasty and traditional Scottish rolls used. A good selection of home baking also on offer.
We had a scrambled egg and sausage roll, bacon/fried egg roll with a tea and a gingerbread latte.
Liked the decor and atmosphere. Staff could have been a bit friendlier with bit of chat or a smile but were polite even though busy.
Y. L.
Cosy little cafe with a variety of options. Had my first Scottish Full Breakfast there. Very lovely and filling!
-.
So glad we came across this cheerful independent cafe. The staff were lovely and the full Scottish breakfast filled me right up!
L. A.
Just what we needed whilst touring the city and break from the rain showers. Did not disappoint 😋
A. S.
The food was exceptional. They offer a full Scottish breakfast along with a nice varied menu. There is also a nice cake selection. It is below street level but airlines bright and welcoming. The staff is very nice. Everything is extremely clean.

Strange cafe that's both a hit and a miss for me. I love how it's situated underground and the staff are super friendly, but the food is quite good at best and disappointing at worst, from my experience.
I ordered the chai latte, and from first glance it looked incredible. However, it was undrinkably sweet, and I swapped it for a pretty good cappuccino. In all, an okay experience, with a woeful chai latte.
The restaurant itself was a mix of different styles that were confusing, and some chairs were good whereas others were hard and unusable. Also, the floors were a strange mix, with bumps in levels that were odd. Overall, eh
E. W.
Great food, service was stupendous and the atmosphere was cozy. Would go again!
L. S.
Love love love this place. It's a wee gem. Situated in the basement but amazing food and breakfast(I have the full breakfast), extremely friendly staff who go out of the way toale sure the service is exceptional, cakes were so delicious!!!! And you HAVE. To try their fresh orange juice!! Would go again and recommend if your in Glasgow to definitely not miss this!!
C. S.
Nice cozy place with very friendly staff. The soup of the day is so tasty and the atmosphere is warm it makes you feel like home.
R. L.
Really small shop, think they need more staff taking orders/ taking food out as we were seated and waited half an hour to have our order taken. Luckily the person who seated us apologised and offered us our breakfast on the house which was nice of them, hopefully I can come back and experience a speeder service.
C. W.
Cafe Wander is a centrally located cafe with good food and reasonable prices. I had the full Scottish breakfast which was very nice and a caramel latte which was delicious. I enjoyed the modern decor and the service was pleasant too. My only criticism is the seat on the men's toilet doesn't stay up so you have to awkwardly hold it in place while you pee which was a bit odd. I would definitely go back if I was hungry and in the area.

Visited this lovely little cafe on Monday morning with my Son for breakfast before out day of shopping and fun in Glasgow! Greeted and served by a lovely woman in the cafe, she took time to exchange pleasantries with us and was kind to my Son. Always a plus when you can get the kids to chat back ✅ Our breakfast was served up quickly, it was tasty, reasonably priced and set us up for the days ahead. We will definitely be back next time we are having some breakfast in the town 🍴. Clean and welcoming cafe with some cute stairs outside.
J. G.
The best cooked breakfast I've had in some time. Had the full breakfast with black pudding and haggis. Delicious 😋
R. M.
Nice little cafe in centre of town. Good range of coffee cakes smoothies etc. Just a bit slow for a larger group.
i. r.
Think this cafe has changed hands and was not as good today as numerous previous visits. Same menus, meals were good if not complete but cafe was untidy and staff inattentive.
E. T.
I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews and rating. I, at-best, got them on a bad day. The service was lackluster and the porridge was effectively instant oatmeal out of a pouch.
K. D.
Nice place friendly staff. It started off very well as my partner always complains no one does mugs of tea, it was the first thing he saw on the menu and actually came out in a mug not just a wee cup. I had green tea and it was proper tea leaves all brewed in the pot, beautiful.
We ordered and had our food in good time. It was a good plate of food exactly what was needed for a day at the rugby. We both had full breakfast and he had an extra lorne sausage and tattie scone. The lorne sausage was the star of the breakfast, will definitely go back.
A. M.
Met a friend for coffee. Warm welcome from the staff on entry. Shown to table. Waited a while for my friend but not rushed at all by the team. Screens up between tables for Covid restrictions. Very comfortable. Good atmosphere, lovely coffee and tasty food.
A. S.
Cafe Wander is great, really nice coffee, food looks good so definitely want to try it next time, quite a busy spot too which is a good sign but if you don't like crowded places maybe check for their quieter times.

Fairly regular visitors to Cafe Wander when we are in Glasgow ....always great service and nice food . Generally we come for a quick lunch and never been disappointed with the choice of soups, sandwiches, etc .....and at the weekend the all day breakfast is great . Cafe does get very busy over lunchtime and tables are very close together ..but that adds to the cosy atmosphere . Good for take aways too .
D. F.
Really enjoyed the full Scottish breakfast here. Great value too, all of this for under 10 pounds. Service was warm and welcoming. Recommend.
C. M.
I was struggling to find a typical "greasyspoon" to enjoy a good breakfast and the foodie gods must have been looking down on me. Here I found a lovely basement cafe was greeted by a lovely lass and asked to sit and choose.
The breakfast was superb a proper breakfast 2eggs, 2 bacon, black pudding, tattie scone, beans, tom, toast and coffee and only £7,50.
Would reccommend this cafe above
all.
They also do a great range of take outs and the baguettes are superb.
M. M.
Fast service and very friendly staff. The breakfast was delicious, I would come back again.
L. P.
A wonderful place to eat in! Amazing food, very cheap and with a super friendly and efficient staff. If I was living in Glasgow, I would definitely come here every day!
J. H.
Must have walked past this 12 times this week on way from hotel (where office kept not putting breakfast on my booking) to train to work. LOOK DOWN. Great service and atmosphere. Hotel breakfast had all you can eat quantity but this had quality incl a good lorne sos. And proper leaf tea in a pot with soya milk. Hotel has been cold and noisy but might be worth staying there next week for this cafe.
Only criticism. 60p for soya milk for tea is more than excessive. I’ll def go back but happy to have tea black.
T. B.
What a hidden gem only a 5 minute walk from the train station. The staff pleasant and helpful and the food excellent. Will be going here all the time when in Glasgow, highly recommended...
D. C.
Delicious nutella brioche french toast special. Loved the coffee and staff too .
h.
Still the best breakfast in Glasgow. Friendly and fast service. Freshly cooked local food. Full Scottish Breakfast. Consistently good 👍
j. t.
Very nice food, not too expensive. £5 for a sharing bowl of sweet potato fries and around £6 for the oven baked potato. They offer a lot of gluten free and vegetarian options. Service was very friendly. You can eat in or you can take away. Around noon, the place was pretty crowdy, which made a room with a lot of noise from the people talking. We would totally recommend this place!
D.
A little cramped with the buggy but more than made up for by some very friendly and helpful staff who even offered to help us carry it down the stairs. The fried breakfast was delicious and the drinks were tasty too.
T.
Good lunch . Chicken club. Excellent espresso ❤️. Normal price. ,,,👍🏻
C. M.
This is a great wee place - found it totally by chance a couple of years ago and drop in whenever I can. Staff are always lovely and chatty, and the food is fab.
S. B.
Very good - had we not found Spitfire this place would have been my top breakfast. A Lovely cafe with really nice and friendly staff. I would happily go back.
E. P.
Went in for a lunch today with my partner and assistance dog the cafe were great to both human and dog customers lily loved her egg
A. B.
Good food - breakfast looks nice and I can recommend the scones which they serve heated up - nice touch. Its also nice to see staff actually clearing and thoroughly cleaning tables - don't see much of that in certain other high street coffee shops!
R. S.
A great little traditional Scottish cafe in a city centre location. A welcoming space. Friendly staff. Big menu, though I usually go for bacon or lorne sausage roll and a very good black americano. When I have a morning meeting in town, I often start the day at the Wanderer. Lunch menu is very tasty looking. Give it a go. I bet you'll be back.
S. S. I.
Found cafe wander by a pleasant "accident" last year and have been surprised by it's quality. Love their Scottish breakfast which is decently priced and delightfully served by the kindest staff. The ambiance of the place is great too. It's a beautiful, little cafe downstairs, right in the heart of city. Always a pleasure visiting them.
S. A.
My daughter and I stumbled upon cafe wander on Wednesday afternoon. We were looking for a light snack and a gluten free option for me. I was delighted to find lentil soup and bread both gluten free and both very good. My daughter Phoebe had soup and a panini. She usually takes 3 spoons of soup and half a dozen bites of panini and leaves the rest but she ate the lot!! That's how lovely the lentil soup was. The lady who served us was very welcoming and friendly. You could see it was service with a smile even with her mask on. It was a lovely relaxed environment. We didn't feel rushed. Everywhere exceptionally clean. We plan to return and try something else on the menu. We'll probably bring My Mum aswel next time too. If there's gluten free bread there'll be gluten free cake. 🍰.
So, table for 3 please 😀
T. C.
Proper homecooked traditional Scottish brekky. Lovely. Will return on my next visit to Glasgow.
S. W.
Such a cute little cafe amazing food
M. C.
Great little local cafe. Wonderful menu. Friendly staff. Great find and homely atmosphere. Great local and international vibe.
G. E.
Boss scran. Boss man? Boss ham. Bacon I like. Sausage squares.
S. G.
Waited nearly an hour for a average breakfast. Wonderful staff and really cool place though!
A. M.
Very nice breakfast. The haggis was very good.
D. M.
Full breakfast was apart from the pink haggis would have got 5 * if it wasnt for the haggis love my haggis
J. A.
I have been to Cafe Wander twice and both times have had a great experience. The food is absolutely amazing and each time I cant wait to try something new! The service could be improved a tiny bit as I was really thirsty and nobody came to check on us. But it was busy with one server so I was not upset. Will ho back!
r.
great breakfast, lovely people there
L. H.
Lovely service. I went in for some lunch with my mum and they couldn't of been nicer. Food was great too. Highly recommend
D. R.
Beautifully Cooked breakfast, highly recommend the loose leaf tea too. Friendly staff and atmosphere
A. B.
I haven't been to Glasgow recently but Cafe Wander was a weekday ritual before lockdown in March 2020. It serves an excellent breakfast roll to take away and I sat in once and also enjoyed the coffee. Everything is done properly and there is a good variety of food and drinks. It has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. So I am hoping you go there and give your custom because I would really like the cafe and the staff to be there when things return to normal!
K. T.
Tasty food would definitely go back when in glasgow.
a. t.
Me and my friend visited this cafe for first time today... we will definitely be back.
The food was beautiful! We had a burger with wedges. The burger was freshly made and the wedges were lovely and crispy. The desserts are out of this world! Plus the staff are lovely and helpful. Plus with coronavirus the cafe had plenty of hand sanitizer and tables were lovely and clean.
D. G.
Always great......roll and sausage plus anything else you want are great, give it a good...offer sit in too
A. S.
Very simple breakfast options. The taste is average. I had a roll with scrambled eggs and potato scones. The scrambled eggs didn't have any salt in them. Potato scones in a roll tasted pretty odd. Not sure why it's listed as a topping. Quick and polite customer service. 4 stars for being too simple and not standing out.
F. H.
Great place. Quirky. Good food. Perfect poached eggs.
J. M.
Found this place today, Friday 9th July. It's a tucked away lovely little place you'll miss if not aware. Good tea - amazing brownies - and really nice staff!
N. M. M.
What a great time I had here my last day in Glasgow! The breakfast and coffee were delicious, and the people there incredibly nice.
A. A.
Delicious cakes, good coffee, pleasant atmosphere and sockets under some of the tables for charging your devices.
P. K.
Nice little cafe with great food a hidden little gem which took me and my gf a few mins to find
J. K.
Lovely little breakfast place, we ate here while we were at Tavelodge central. We had full Scottish breakfast with fresh orange juice, everything on our plate was fresh and delicious. The service was very friendly and fast even though we visited just after lockdown was lifted. Eat out help out discount was an unexpected bonus. I would recommend this place to everyone. Thank you for great experience 😊
A.
Amazing home made scones , great and fruitfull breakfast
E. M.
Cosy place, friendly staff, great breakfast
D. M.
Highly recommend the burgers. Brilliant we cafe I stumbled across while having a wander on my break. Staff were as amazing as the food. Reasonably priced for what you get. Will be back!
L. S.
Great food, brilliant service
J. B.
Very nice full breakfast (the first time I have ever enjoyed black pudding), and coffee which did not actively offend my highly particular taste.
The takeaway menu looked interesting, and they were doing a lot of local business with repeat customers.
Not at all a fancy place, but quick and pleasant staff.
a. t.
Nice food. Good green tea. Good location. Nice and friendly staff.
S. F.
Really nice breakfast, reasonable prices, very central and friendly staff ☺️
D. G.
Went to this place for a full Scottish breakfast at the recommendation of my partner. Food was unbelievably good and the ambience is lovely. Such a cute little cafe with lovely staff
M. C.
Amazing staff and loveljy food. Definitely be going back
R. C.
It was snowing early in the morning while I went out for a walk and was desperately looking for a shelter, enter "Cafe Wander" Beautifully cozy, good food, and pleasantly welcoming staff and quick service. Had a wholesome traditional Scottish breakfast here. And couldn't have asked for more. The bacon could have been cooked for a little longer but nothing that makes you lose your appetite. Thank you Cafe Wander. "all those who wander are not lost"
M. S.
Really lovely cafe, food and smoothies tasted great. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Me and friend had a lovely catch. Would recommend this place greatly and will be back again soon
F. S.
Not a place I would go to a lot, the hot beef banquette was very chewy
C. Y.
Lovely food and friendly staff!
F. Q.
We love cafe wander. Coffee is fab, juices are fab and they always accommodate me if I want to choose something a little 'off menu'. I'd like to see then dabble with things a little bit healthier on their breakfast menu - smashed avo and tomatoes maybe.
P. P.
Can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. I LOVE Cafe Wander. Me and my Monkey had just arrived in Glasgow after an overnight bus ride from Birmingham and desperately needed food. A quick google showed Cafe Wander to be quite close so I took a chance and walked round. Best Glasgow decision made in a long time. Both me and my Monkey were made to feel welcome. The food is delicious, really good value, what better to welcome ye back than Scottish sliced sausages as part of a fab breakfast. But there's way more to the menu than that. Way more. The staff are really brilliant too. Friendly and attentive yet not intrusive. And the cafe itself, set downstairs off the street is tastefully done out.
L. M.
Really nice little independent café in town. Food is always lovely. Usual soups and pannins, coffees and smoothies. Baked goods are great. Very reasonably priced and far tastier than any chains! Only negative is I wish it was open later so I could go after work.
J. A.
We have breakfast one morning on our short 3 day trip to Glasgow and it was the best breakfast of our trip.
The staff were super friendly and the Cafe is decorated really well.
The coffee was really nice, after looking for good coffee we finally found it at this Cafe!
Thanks guys, if we end up in Glasgow again we will visit again.
A. P.
Good food, great lunch and enjoyable wait due to staff banter! Had a panini and cake and hope to repeat that order often!
Recommend for a tasty lunch 10/10
O. C.
Had a fantastic breakfast in Cafe Wander with my Mum last week - the French Toast was so tasty.. I'm just sorry I wasn't hungry enough for a second portion! :) Great bacon too!! Didn't think it was too expensive as another reviewer mentioned, but then I was up from London for the weekend so everything seemed cheaper to me! :)
T. N.
First time in this wee basement cafe and was not disappointed. Met an associate for a tea and catch up. Ordered a lovely brownie as well. It was delicious. Seem to have a lot on offer in terms of food and drink. Will definitely go back again soon.
M. W. M.
We only had a few hours in Glasgow but really wanted a good Scottish breakfast. Cafe Wander was perfect! Everything was quick, delicious, and our hostess was wonderful! Even though my experience is limited, it was the best blood pudding I've ever had.
R. C.
This is such a gem! So glad my husband & I went here for breakfast instead of having the continental at our hotel. Well worth the walk to get here & the price. Very nice service & good food. What more could you ask for? 😊
P. S.
Disappointed. Have been here before and enjoyed the experience. This time we were disappointed. We arrived for a quick bite after the lunch rush had finished. Staff seemed to be concentrating on cleaning up than servicing new customers. We both ordered soup and a sandwich. Soup was lukewarm and my baguette was soft and chewy. Not a good experience. Won't rush back
J. M.
Excellent spot for breakfast. Food was great, and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful. I'd be a regular if I lived in the area.
I. T.
This is my fourth time at Café Wander and I'm never disappointed. Best Scottish breakfast in Glasgow ever (even though it would be just PERFECT if there were my beloved mushrooms in it, but I can forgive you). I love the place and the atmosphere, it's one of my favourite eating spot in town.
T. M.
This place was amazing we had such a beautiful lunch and the staff were so friendly and helpful x and they have all the covid rules in place and everything is so professionally done that you don't even notice x we had handmade burgers and potato wedges and vegan chocolate brownies all absolutely delicious x
would thoroughly recommend it x 10 out of 10 x
F. S.
Fantastic and friendly service, great atmosphere and good food!
周.
Super nice cafe, one of the best places to have breakfast or takeaway lunch near the center. Coffee, drinks are as delightful as their staff. Also, price is fairly cheap. It might get pretty packed during lunch time as it's situated in a busy area, I'd recommend visiting on Saturday to have the best experience.
C. F.
Lovely atmosphere and good food. Really enjoyed coming here. The soup was great. And staff are very friendly. Only thing is that it's not easy lying accessible with a pram due to stairs.
m. h.
Excellent breakfast , decent price
D. C.
Great little underground cafe with pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Wide range of hot and cold drinks on offer, including loose leaf teas. The food is varied and well prepared, and you can even buy the art from local artists hanging on the walls
E.
Nice place for breakfast. Pleasant staff and quick service.
J. H.
Wonderful little place. Normally you can get a seat, though it does get fairly busy. Food is nice and somewhat reasonable priced. The staff are very nice to top it off.
L. P.
Cheap !
I wanted to have a quick breakfast for a cheap Price . I found everything and Even more at this cafe . A large and tasty breakfast for 7£. Adding the fact it was Quickly served by smiling waitress , and there we go!
They are paintings and drawings on the wall from local artists and you have their coordinates to buy the paintings or Contact them .
Its in the heart of Glasgow, close to the goma
and the main shopping street .
M. O.
Quaint little place accessible downstairs off the street. Good breakfast menu, everything was tasty. Not too expensive all things considered, might want to share a couple of items. Would definitely recommend.
J. D. H.
Great food service good value for money, staff very friendly.
C. M. F.
My very favorite cafe in glasgow city centre. The coziest place ever, delicious coffee and tons of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options!
P. M. K.
Nice warm and simple place. Tasty in whatever English menu items they have.
Definitely recommend it.
Since I was an eggitarian, went for scrambled for my wifey and fried on toast for me + a large cappuccino (better than Starbucks :D )
No Wi-Fi though.
K. C.
Amazing breakfast and brunch! Everything we ate was delicious. Highly recommend the chai latte and waffle with Nutella. Small, quaint spot with big flavor.
R. S.
Wonderful little basement cafe where I got breakfast twice during my stay in Glasgow. Very friendly staff, great coffee and tasty food. Highly recommended.
L. J.
Staff were lovely & helpful. Food was amazing & arrived very quickly after ordering. All Covid precautions were well adhered to.
J. H.
Perfect - just what we needed - lots of good breakfast fuel - a good down to earth meal. Very friendly and helpful staff. And they played non stop awesome 80's music the whole time 👍👍👍
M. S.
Liked it but for 5 stars would need to improve the flavour and how the food is presented 😳
M. L.
Food was very good, service also. We had the burgers which were very tasty. Busy little place which is always a good sign. Unless it's a hospital!
R. H.
I come here mid morning most Saturdays. It's affordable, unpretentious, the staff are lovely, the coffee's strong and the breakfast is filling. Probably my favourite cafe in Glasgow!
k. H.
Really nice staff were awesome and the food was really nice and well priced! The decor is very nice art on the walls and collection of postcards from around the world I'm guessing sent in by regular customers! Overall very homely!
G. H.
My first Scottish breakfast and il definitely be back tomorrow 😉the Lorne sausage was gorgeous and i had my first taste of black pudding and loved yours. Definitely recommend.
L. I.
Just 5 mins walk from the Premier Inn this place is perfect for breakfast. We both had the french toast with bacon and maple syrup and it was delicious! Couldn't recommend it any higher.
J. L.
Great little spot for breakfast! Friendly staff and delicious food. It's a bit hidden because the entrance is below street-level but walk close enough and you'll see the sign.
s. s.
Lovely little café, great prices, great atmosphere 😊
E. S.
Excellent breakfast , friendly staff always visit when in Glasgow
N. E.
A simple yet varied menu and the food is much the same. Straight forward but excellent quality. Could not fault the service either!
A. R.
Amazing Breakfast in this small coffee restaurant , I like a lot the smoothie with banana and blue Berry and the big breakfast with bacon. We will come back for sure
C. M.
Great for a late breakfast on Saturdays and very friendly staff, easy to get to and would definitely come again.
It's very cosy, but has a nice atmosphere and plenty of places to sit.
R. M.
This was my first visit after what I swear was the hundredth time passing this place without knowing where where it was.
It is a nice cafe for a catch up. Food is served fast and hot with friendly staff.
P. G.
One of the best Cafes I've ever been to! Super cozy with amazing coffee! Perfect for evening meets!
Definitely recommend!

Great place serving breakfast late on Saturdays. I had fried eggs with toasts and bacon. The atmosphere is very cosy and the coffee very good.
R. L.
Had a great full breakfast good value
R. C.
Cute little basement cafe that does lovely brownies and scones. Lovely loose tea as well - always a welcome bonus - and a clean and welcoming atmosphere.
A. G.
the food was lovely highly recommended the ornge just
J. H.
With a name and logo like Cafe Wander, I thought this café would be more unique and have more character. I was disappointed to find that the decor, coffee, and food were all somewhat average. The staff however were very friendly.
A. G.
A nice little place for a casual lunch, or breakfast. The food is decent, and the staff are lovely. The decor is cute, too - definitely inspired by the name.
R. J.
I’m taking off a star because of the very few vegetarian options on offer. Also it’s pricey for what you’re getting. But staff are friendly and it has a nice travel vibe.
R. C.
Always a popular haunt for meetups for office workers. Very busy wee place, which is always a good sign. Usually serve 2-3 homemade soups every day.
S. B.
Great little basement cafe, good place for a full Scottish breakfast or a quick lunch. Decent menu and quality food, service generally quick and staff are all very helpful.

Seems like a hidden jem to this wanderer!
F. T.
Found this cafe almost by accident (it is below street level.)
Tried the homemade soup it was lovely and at a very reasonable price.
Seemed to be a very busy cafe and friendly staff.
J. M. N.
I love this place! Come here for breakfast everytime I stay over in glasgow. Absolutely delish and really good prices

S. H.
Amazing little Café, great atmosphere, accomodating staff and all for a good price would recommend.

One of the nicest places you can go to have a nice bite to eat with a friendly atmosphere with the noise level always low which makes conversation so much easier. Although the prices are high - but that is city living for you!
W. L.
Very friendly staff, a lovely little café and delicious food for a very reasonable price. Can't go wrong!
J. M.

Simple but nice and well priced cafe. Good service, a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of glasgow shopping into the cool for a refreshing fresh juice and sandwich.
B. Z.
Great little cafe. Decent breakfast. Nice staff. Fair prices.
L. W.
Lovely little Cafe with friendly staff and good coffee. A refreshing break from the generous splattering of Starbucks littered all over the city. Be aware there is no free wifi.
A. A.
Excellent traditional Scottish breakfast, and a very nice cup of tea. Tucked away, this is a hidden gem!
(Reasonably priced too)
J. L.
Great little cafe tucked away in the most unconscious basement. If you are running early for work or find yourself in the city centre with nothing to do grab a comfy seat and a solid breakfast!
J. P.
Delicious food for reasonable price.

(Translated) Nice little cafe with super full breakfasts! I took the full breakfast with: black pudding, poached egg, 2 slices of toasted breads, 2 large slices of bacon, white beans with tomato sauce, 1 half cooked tomato, ...; and a simple espresso. The whole thing cost me almost £ 9 which I think is good for the quality. Ability to charge the phone so one more BUT no wifi ... little less. The staff are also ultra polite, friendly and gladly answer tourist questions about the city!
