Reviews of Cranachan

A late breakfast of Eggs hebridean (Stornoway Black pudding) for me and Eggs Vegetarian (veggie haggis) for my wife went down a proper treat with a very nice coffee.
Great surroundings, friendly staff.

Nice afternoon tea experience in town! The three tier stand comes with super tasty sandwiches, fresh scones, cakes and tea fancies. Lovely coffee! The atmosphere is lovely especially sitting "out" in the indoor terrace at the top floor of the beautiful Princes Square. Service was attentive and friendly!
A. B.
2nd floor of Princes Square, access via escalator (there's even one direct from the street), elevator or staircase. I had reserved online which was a breeze and we were shown to a table on the terrace- inside looked good as well though, that's where the toilets are. A polite waitress took our order pretty quickly, and when we both ordered soup and sandwich suggested a half and half option which dropped out the bread from the soup course and half of the sandwich. This did still fill us up and didn't leave us stuffed, but not sure on the value side though. With a diet Coke (£3.50) and a pot of loose leaf breakfast tea (£3.05) it came to £25.75. I think this was OK and would return: they were beginning to serve afternoon tea as we left and that looked good too.

Really nice dinner. I had haggis bon bons which were lovely. The pepper sauce was delicious. Then had pan fried garlic and rosemary chicken with capers, mustard and gherkins...which I wouldnt have ever thought to put together but it was honestly delicious. The gin teapot cocktails were awesome. They came in a really nice wee teaset. The elderflower gin cocktail was spot on. I got an itison voucher for this place otherwise i don't think I'd have went but would definitely go back. Really good food and service.

Ended up here by mistake. But glad we did. Had lunch which was yummy. Good selection ,even for vegetarians.Attentive staff , in good mood. cosy seating area

As a party of 4 we experienced the afternoon tea with pink processco on a busy Saturday afternoon and can highly recommend. Excellent location, extremely friendly and helpful staff, along with an great choice of sandwiches and cakes. A nice touch is the unlimited amount of coffee and tea refills if required. Well worth visiting and experiencing the whole unique atmosphere and ambience. Cannot speak highly of the venue.

Staff were attentive and helpful with our infant daughter. But the food was bang average. I had smoked salmon which was dull in colour, chewy with fat and still had remnants of skin on it. Seemed like the end of the stock or something. Really poor. The link sausage on our breakfast was cheap and overdone to the point where the skin hardens. Veggie haggis was decent. Legit the best thing on anyone’s plate was the spinach and, let’s be honest, that oughtn’t to be the case. I’m saying appearances are deceptive.
R. C.
Visited for breakfast, food was excellent but service fell short of usual standard. On arriving we were advised there would be 20 minute wait which we accepted. However the wait was not only for the food but to take the order and we were told we would be unable to get drinks while we waited. After more than 20 minutes we were somewhat irritated when other tables that arrived after us had their orders taken and had to prompt the staff that our order had not been taken. On arrival the food was very good but our drinks didn’t appear and I had to go and ask when we would get them. Not sure if there was an issue with staff shortages but it could have been handled easily by serving drinks while we waited for the food.
R. D.
Overall it was fine, only real criticism was slow service. I think they forgot about us and took 20mins to take drinks order, and 40mins for sandwich to be delivered. It wasnt overly busy but a few staff were waundering about. I get nervous when staff dont write down orders and try to memorise. 1 drinks order was wrong, the other drink was forgotton. Id be more inpressed if written down and got it right first time. Good atmosphere and location, will try again
A. Y.
Delicious brunch, had a bacon and lorne sausage roll, really fast, high quality service. Cannot stress enough how yummy the food was.

Love Celebrating Mothers day with my daughter here. Tasty wholesome food, great staff and service. Cullen skink to die for💕
A. B.
Good choice on menu & very pleasant staff & service. Would recommend booking to be sure of table.
B. B.
Not bad, but not good. We went for breakfast while in Glasgow for the weekend. The service was friendly and quick. The food was okay (nothing I would rave about) however the orange juice we ordered was very weak (which included ice that was not asked for). The mall it is situated in is very nice. So if your looking for a quiet little place that is hidden away, then this place is okay, however if you are looking for some nice food to go with the atmosphere, go somewhere else.
M. J.
Cullen skink was very delicious. Was told by my sister that this is one of the better fish soups in Glasgow. The bread that came with it was really fantastic! Crispy on the crust and soft on the inside.
Cosy place. Love it
A. C.
Excellent staff. Food was lovely and well cooked. Head Chef of 10 years, which says a lot about a place if they can retain staff for that long. Must mean he's doing something right. Would absolutely go back in a heartbeat.
L. B.
Afternoon tea here is fab accompanied by a glass of prosecco. Waiting staff very friendly and helpful.
M. H.
Hadn't booked but staff were willing to find me a table. I waited for about 10mins at a busy time. Food was lovely and staff very pleasant and friendly. Will go back again next time I am visiting Glasgow.
M. S.
I had the most beautiful cullen skink soup I have ever tasted, charming staff and wonderful food.
L. O. N.
Amazing food and excellent service

Enjoyed an afternoon tea with my wife at Cranachan within Princes Square. Excellent food, service and friendly staff.

A hidden gem in the centre of Glasgow. Delicious breakfast in the quiet morning. Good service and attention to detail. Thank you.
d. q.
Love this place
Fresh Scottish quality food
Staff so friendly
Great atmosphere
R. K.
Last night, we used a voucher which permitted us to order 2 main course, both were devine. When we ordered a bottle of wine as well, the man who served us was polite and had great customer service skills. All the servers we interacted with were attentive but not over bearing and helped to create a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to others/go again ourselves.
C. B.
Average. We went for an Itison deal. Had fish suppers. Chips weren't cooked enough but fish was gorgeous. No dessert menu. Staff a bit all over the place. No-one asked if everything was okay or whether we enjoyed our meal. Only one ladies toilet and sanitary bin it too high. Ladies sit to use the loo. It was nice to go out for a meal, place seemed clean enough.
A. B.
Visited here on a deal the meal was fab ...really good quality for price and yummy cocktails
R. C.
This is good food, but not excellent food. But everything it does is done well. We went for breakfast, there was a bit of a wait, not too had, but there were empty tables. Ideally someone would put you at an empty and say it will be 10 mins, rather than leave you standing with empty tables all around
K. H.
If you want a tasty breakfast this place fits the bill. Cooked breakfast with all the trimmings and a lovely cup of tea. Great service and affordable.
P. H. (.
It's a hidden gem on the second floor of the Princes Square shopping centre great breakfast
J. J.
Excellent food friendly staff altogether a great place to eat.
A. H.
Booked lunch today, 30th April, with friends. The setting was perfect. The food was excellent and the service was first class. Our waiter was called Fraser who was attentive and professional. Next time we are in Glasgow we’ll be back. Thanks Cranachan. Alex and Roseanna Hood, Quarter, Hamilton
J. S.
My wife and I made our first visit to Cranachan as part of an anniversary night out and we will definitely be back again. The welcome we received was great, the service was top notch and the food was superb. Slight issue when it came to paying as we couldn't find a member of staff but it was only a small issue which was easily rectified. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Having a lovely time in Glasgow, walking around town and came across a wonderful place. Cranachan was on the second floor of such place. The service was good, was not hungry so we only ordered a small plate, a soup and a main. The food is amazing, seasoned just right, also reasonable sized. Highly recommended.
S. C.
Soup and a sandwich was nice but seemed to be missing half the sandwich.
T. Q.
I'm glad to see Scottish style restaurant as even though I live in Scotland it's rare to find Scottish restaurant. It's what you would probably expect for somewhere in Princes Square. Slick, stylish interiors, professional service but not the cheapest place
G. H.
Lovely meal, 2 courses and coffee with drinks came to £40 for both of us, so not too expensive either. Nice sized portions, staff were excellent from beginning to end which made for a most enjoyable night. Will definitely be back.
D. C.
Lovely food could do with improving choice of desert .
A. F.
Nice breakfast if a bit pricey
L. C.
Was very busy on a Saturday lunchtime but service was great and food was really tasty and high quality. I had a smoked salmon sandwich which came with crisps, salad and coleslaw on the side which was enough to make it feel like a treat. Only reason it's not five star is that there is an issue with the space inside the ladies toilet, should really be a warning on the outside door not to open it quickly as you'll likely injury anyone waiting inside!
B. B.
Friendly staff all wearing appropriate ppe - socially distanced tables - all very clean & felt comfortable. We had steak frites & the chicken salad then a piece each of lemon/ginger and cranachan cake plus drinks. Food was delicious and every morsel eaten, couldn't fault it or the efficient service. Would definitely recommend a visit😋👍
E. M.
Really good menu. Even the vegans were happy. Given a wee taste of the soups on offer before we ordered. Very knowledgeable server who obviously knew portion size etc.
D. S.
A good handy spot for brunch walking between Queen Street and Central stations. Friendly staff, a nice menu selection and well made coffees.
K. T.
Great central location in princes square with a good breakfast menu. Food reasonable and friendly service
C. B.
Just love it here. Great choice of food, good quality and lovely staff. My go to place when in Glasgow
J. H.
Lovely situation in princes square. Good food but service was a bit rushed
P. G.
Lovely breakfast today. Will come back.
N. R.
Went to cranachan 25/01/2020. Had a filled roll with black pudding, partner had the fry up. Plentiful portions reasonable prices, good atmosphere.
Its a little away from the busyness of Buchanan street which is relaxing!
S.
Always good for lunch. Gets really busy at lunch time. Reccomend booking a table. Nice ambience.
Tomato/red pepper and chickpea soup was really tasty accompanied by wholemeal chicken/ roast pepper/creme fraiche sandwich ( only 1 tiny bit of pepper tho')but enjoyed it all the same! On table menu say' s to ask for flavour of ice cream but only had vanilla! Asked about sauces to go with it but server didn't know,so plain ice cream it is then! £15.05p including small flat white coffee.
S. M.
I've previously visited and had the best breakfast I've ever had, but recently when I visited my brunch fell short of my expectations, the poached egg had a hard yolk, and the black pudding was hard. I hope the food is better next time I visit.
G. R.
Was ok was hoping for.something more
Booked a 5pm deal and it wasnt anythinf special. Had the curry.and feta and beetroot salad. Couple of starters
Was like homemade dinner so i wld not return
M. B.
Lovely food, friendly staff and good service. The Neeps and Tatties with extra black pudding was delicious as was the salmon I had to start. Recommended
C. P.
Friendly staff 👍🏻
T. W.
Gone there for full scottish breakfast! It was very tasty but a square sausage short of full scottish.
P. M. c.
Lovely place for food very clean staff very friendly
A. T.
Impressive surroundings, lively, my "steak frites" was just right, and all served with a smile. But beware beer prices - most are 330 ml, not a pint!
K.
Cafe popular with ladies who lunch. Terrace good for people watching although recently only high teas being served here. Staff friendly, prices typical for Princes Square.
A. G.
We have had the Lunch and afternoon Tea here and have never been disappointed. The people have always been friendly and can't do enough for you, a great place to go.
B. H.
Huge portions, good prices. I would recommend the risotto from the lunch menu
P. R.
Had Eggs Benedict but one egg was hard boiled and the other soft, my daughter had a bacon roll which was far better value as the rolls are large with plenty bacon on them.
S. D.
Crab gratin came like warm with no cheese and was just mush. Got it refunded thankfully.
Fries were undercooked.
Cullen Skink was decent.
Expected more from a place with that address.
C. K.
Went for afternoon tea for 2 with Itison voucher. Been before and always very happy with service, staff attentiveness and the food drinks provided.
