We had a delicious lunch , the food really is delicious and homemade . The daily quiche was amazing as was the chilli and they should bottle their salad dressing. Great place would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

I can only disagree with the person who recently reported Hug as serving the worst coffee in the Southside. I get to drink their amazing italian espresso, balanced without too much acidity (unlike other coffees served in Glasgow). Food is lovely too (just spotted freshly made scones) and the team is always welcoming, making you feel they remember you every time you pop in. A proper feel-like-home place!

Lovely cafe and staff. There are plenty of items on the menu to choose from. Everything is freshly prepared. I also love the fact that the children's menu is full of healthy options. I would highly recommend Hug.

Post lockdown Hug is like night and day - gone is the old cramped odd layout - dark pokey corners, and slightly dodgy decor - in came a fresh new menu - an all day breakfast, burgers to drool over, Cullen Skink soup to devour, and very few (if any) yummy mummies with coughing children imploring their little darling to behave - am not anti-child having been one myself - and I am aware of how fraught early year parenting can be - that is why it requires skills. Hug is a refuge from the madness going on around us - the staff are prettu laid back and pleasant. The menu isn't fussy or haut cuisine, it is however tasty and fuss free - come a long and give yourself a ""Hug".

We love this place. Friendly, helpful staff, spotlessly clean and the food is great. The best bacon rolls going, fantastic coffee and cakes and the breakfast is superb. Shawlands has a lot of really good breakfast places but this is my favourite.

Had brunch here during some tighter restrictions and was worried we wouldn't be able to get a table. The staff were excellent and made sure the next table and chairs were fully cleaned down so we could have a safe place to sit without any fuss. The menu has a really good choice and my option of poached eggs on soured with bacon, avocado, lemon & chilli definitely didn't disappoint. My friend had a grilled Halloumi sandwich and loved it. Food was excellent but wish I had got one of the cakes even to takeaway..........that just means that I will just need to go back to try them- they looked too good!

Fabulous Coffee, the staff where friendly and went out their way to serve the sausage rolls we craved, but where no longer on the menu, which were tasty tasty. Thank you for an enjoyable lunch. X

My friend and I visited this cafe yesterday (1st of November, 2020). The waiting staff, coffee and food were all excellent. However, there was a man sitting next to us on his laptop (he had long greyish hair) who - when the staff moved the tables to make more room for other customers - spoke to them as if they were children. We believe he was maybe the owner/manager - but my goodness, his unprofessionalism was astounding. He was passive aggressive and belittling (especially towards the young female waitress with blonde hair) asking her questions such as “do you even know what a metre is?” and was getting visibly frustrated with her. Most of the cafe seemed to have clocked in on this, and the waitress was clearly upset. So we just wanted to let that man know, that we think it was extremely uncalled for - and matters with his staff should be a private issue, not a case of embarrassing them in the middle of the cafe. Please treat them better.

We have been enjoying coffee and home baking in Hug for some months. The staff are lovely and the service great. We had a family party there at the weekend and for anyone looking for a venue for a similar event we can thoroughly recommend David and his team for the great food we had, the friendly welcome and the tolerance they showed towards our very lively grandchildren! Thanks again David.

My new fave! In house baking is delicious and adventurous and the main menu boasts some exciting flavour combos as well as the classic standbys. Staff are so friendly and welcoming too. Try the apple strudel cheesecake and the Cullen skink 👌👌

Really nice coffee! A lot of places in the southside are selling oven bird coffee which has a really sour taste and u think tastes awfull. The coffee in hug is really tasty and full of flavour. Food is good too with reasonable prices.

Warm welcoming and friendly staff, The food was great, my wife had a halloumi sandwich with salad, which she really enjoyed, freshly cut salad with a beautiful dressing and a home made coleslaw, I had the Cullen skink which was amazing and I’m not sure but the bread seemed to me to be homemade also, all reasonably priced. I would recommend a visit.
