Reviews of Kothel Crow Road
J. K.
Lovely cafe and had a huge cake. Definitely I'm going back again. But the coffee was not that great to be honest. The bag of taking away was not sturdy so it was ripped on the way to home so we lost a piece of raspberry cake. We'll go for the cake again lol 🥹
J. S.
Great coffees. Not a ton of indoor seating. Had to sit our party outside. Food was delicious. Staff was lovely.
A. L.
Truly a little breakfast gem full of French vibes. Hot chocolate were delicious. Would definitely go there again!
E. H.
I love the unique interiors of the kothel cafes, each seems so carefully put together to make a very attractive and artistic setting for the most delicious food. Dog friendly, which gets my approval every time. A comfortable and informal are outside ,protected from a busy road with planting. This is an intimate destination for breakfast ,lunch, casual drink and cake, I defy anyone not to go back for another taste from this wonderfully friendly eatery, after a first visit. It is a firm favourite of mine. A hidden gem of Glasgow.

The place looks great lots of interesting decor. It also felt great. The service was great and it was nice to see dogs in and around especially one politely inquisitive scrunch faced thing near the door. The food was as advertised and an oft ruined black Americano was perfect. Milkshakes and smoothies are seasonal which wasn't immediately obvious.
R. H.
Very nice cafe. Food is reasonably priced, delicious and presented well on the plate, as is the coffee.
P. M.
Nice coffee and cakes! This was a favourite of mine for a quick takeaway oat cappuccino during my time in this area.
One thing to note is when busy, service really slows down and loses its efficiency
A. M.
Went in for a coffee, people were nice and service was good. I sat outside but inside looked pretty decent.
I've not eaten here yet but will update when I do, the menu looked good for breakfast, decent selection of salads and focaccia sandwiches
M.
Lovely cake & coffee, however the coffee saucer had a big chip on it and was dirty.
P. M.
Had lunch here recently. A walk-in without booking. Whilst fairly busy, the ever-efficient staff got us a seat with a window view. I had my old favourite, the Spanakopita, i.e Greek spinach pie. A good sized portion arrived with rocket leaves and balsamic drizzle. It also came with a side of home made bread. It was all absolutely delicious. My wife had a Nutella filled croissant and good coffee. I ordered a slice of one of the many mouth watering cakes on display, the salted caramel. It was a huge slice and was just fantastic tasting. The price for the food was fine. The place has funky decor and a good vibe going on. There's both free and paid parking nearby. A great place.

Probably once or the nicest cafes I’ve been to. Incredible menu, the cafe itself is beautiful, staff are accommodating and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
m.
Came for lunch with a friend. Inside the interiors are tastefully decorated with lots of rustic wood panelling in a mixture of hipster, country (as in and western) and trendy bar. The lighting is muted which actually complemented the dark wood panels.
We ordered a vegetarian platter for two and it was really nice, a little like a cold platter of cooked Mediterranean vegetable hor d’oeuvres. I also got a vegan chocolate cake which was surprisingly nice because I don't normally like vegan cakes as the texture feels wrong. The latte I had tasted great and very smooth.
C. M.
What a lovely café! Hands down one of the most beautifully decorated one I have visited in the UK. If you like a good vintage atmosphere, that's for you! We went there for coffee and had waffles with honey and fruits with coffees. If was very lovely, would recommend to tourists visiting Glasgow 😃
D. M.
Food and coffee is great however staff can be a bit hit or miss. Has the potential to be amazing if staff cared a little more and listened to customers.
j. T.
So cosy and humble. Loved the atmosphere and the staff are so friendly. Could spend a full afternoon in here. And food delicious
N. B.
One of my favourite places to go to when i am craving something sweet. Last time i was there i was barely able to stop with 2 slices of cake. The orange chocolate cake was HEAVEN! The coffee is delicious and the staff is super kind and friendly. I also saw that they are pet friendly which is a nice bonus. I would recommend to anyone who is up for a coffee date.
PS; i know they have normal food but did not try it since i have been going for the cakes hahaha
S. 1.
Friendly staff, food is always incredible, cheap and by far the best tasting sandwich you can get in the area, nice atmosphere inside also!
K. S.
I’ am positive surprised from this cafe !Cosy place ,nice coffees and drinks ,delicious cakes and a variety of Greek dishes 🙏🏽The most important for me it’s pet friendly 🐾🐶🐾
C. S.
I love this place. It used to be better in the old days tho.
Still a great place for coffee and cake. I love it's comfy cosy interior.
The current staff are not as friendly as before.
L. P.
Food is decent but the service is so slow. Just waited 15 minutes for 1 slice of cake to take away. Wait while sitting in could also be improved.
It was already made and iced so no idea what took so long?! Shame, as is a lovely location in addition to the nice food.
L. B.
Great set up. Love that there are tables outside and the service has been good both times I’ve been. I had bruschetta the first time and a greek panini the second. Both were really lovely and the coffee was good too. Dog friendly and welcoming. My friends all enjoyed their sandwiches too. Good ventilation inside and decorated really nicely.
T. Q.
The toasted scones here are one of the best scones I've had, and I've had a few. Drinks are top quality too. Nice decor inside but decided to go al fresco today. Not cheap, but in line with West end prices. Good job!
J. W.
What a gem of a Cafe. Stumbled across this whilst wandering the West End. highly recommend the shared meat platter. Very nice decor and ambious and very friendly service. We’re going back tomorrow for breakfast haha
K. L.
Wonderful environment. Friendly helpful staff. Great coffee. Delicious food.
E. S.
Good place, outdoor seating.
C. M.
Kothel is good. Great service, nice place, good coffee.
A. G.
Great coffee, fantastic bacon roll with more bacon than you can think of. The staff are very friendly and provide a great service.
A. O.
Kothel has a great ambiance and the food is very tasty. But their cakes tend to be dry and the coffee is mediocre. It’d be great if they served better quality coffee.
A. K.
Menu selection was good. Both quality of food & atmosphere were great. The service was friendly & helpful. The only minus point I would make is that due to cleaning the coffee machine 20 odd mins before actual closing time means customers were being turned away. No hot drinks were available despite closing time being 20 mins off. It wouldn't stop me going back but one the of reasons why this place such a diamond in the rough is due to the fact it's open later - as well as their food.
L. O.
Very good food choices, staff are super friendly.
Look forward to a return visit
G. M.
Great wee place with awesome cakes 😁👍 Oh and dogs!!! 🐕🐾😄
R. S.
A lovely little cafe. Service is great with friendly staff.
P. K.
Just passed by for a coffee and cake. Great ambience and decor and not to mention coff3e and cake. Perfect
W. T.
Ciabatta and bacon was almost a meal.
Lovely.
J. C.
Stopped in for a coffee for first time early morning Coffee was great and lovely selection of cakes. Also there appeared nice selection of sandwiches . Young woman who brought my coffee was very nice and welcoming. I would recommend this place if in the area for a coffer
g. b.
Lovely setting in the west end .. good for a coffee and caramel cake( editor😊) or something more substantial from the extensive Bistro menu..Cara and all the staff very helpful and attentive😁
T.
This is a vibrant corner cafe in the west end of Glasgow with an idiosyncratic and very personal feel. I'd have given it four stars had the coffee and food been a little bit above average. The seating is varied - everything between high stools with narrow table tops and easy chairs so the space is interesting. It's usually very busy but, in spite of this, the staff are friendly and patient.
C. T.
I love Kothel so much! It has the perfect atmosphere and really good coffee. They have a vast range of cakes and dishes. The drinks are nice but I wish they still sold cherry cola. Overall Kothel is my favourite cafe and I would definitely recommend going there!
P. S.
A couple of croissants were served burned. They were edible but had been overheated. They should not have been served. I did eat them, I don't like waste, but they were not appropriate to be served. Not a good standard. I probably wouldn't go back simply because there wasn't enough care of the customer not to serve burnt food.
M. B.
Nice wee place in the outskirts of West End. Cakes selection is to die for and staff is always friendly.
b.
Busy at the moment. A popular and friendly cafe catering for all ages and tastes. Decent coffee and selection of snacks and pastries although the best ones sell out quickly.Covid precautions are well organised and the staff are helpful and accommodating.
s. d.
Lovely coffee, nice cake. Great surroundings and attentive staff
V. P.
The perfect place with special design and dishes inspired probably from the Mediterranean regions!!! The staff is always friendly, the dishes are very good, a personal favourite is the ciapata 300. On a sunny day you can seat outside to enjoy your coffee or food!
J. G.
I've given this bistro a 4* only because the seating isn't particularly comfy. The food however is FAULTLESS. We had brunch this morning and it was well presented, so tasty and no rush. The staff are friendly, efficient and very professional. We WILL go back again as it was a wonderful experience. Well done Kothel.
J. H.
My family and I had a lovely time here for lunch. The reasonably priced food was very nice and the portion sizes were decent. I can't attest to the coffee, I only had a soft drink, but those that had the coffee enjoyed it.
C. B.
Charming cafe with fine cakes too
P. G.
Very nice, warm and comfortable coffee shop. Nicely retro shabby chic styling. Good coffee and excellent snacks and cakes. Even has a vintage tractor adjacent to the outside seating area, what more could you want?
G. A. A.
Love this place! Spacious, great ambiance, friendly staff, great coffee and delicious food!
G. H.
Fantastic and independent with good value takeaway coffee (coffee stamp card for the regulars). Acts as a destination point for Broomhill. Staff are always very friendly.
Few negatives include...
*Furniture not very comfortable (in particular the coffee bars)
*Food itself can be expensive.
*No proper kitchen so menu is very limited.
T. N.
Really atteactive place - nice coffee. The service is horrendous. 15 mins in queue to order a coffee - another 15 mins to arrive. Staff completely disorganised. Milling around - one minute taking an order then disappearing with a tray etc.
To sum up - shambolic!!. Pity because it is a nice place.
M. E.
Looks trendy however it doesn't offer the most comfortable seating arrangements. I think it's going for the hipster vibe too much and not the practicalities for customers. I'd cover the cakes on the counter as it puts me off purchasing any because I think too much about people breathing, coughing, sneezing or accidentally spitting on them 😱
M. M.
Great coffee, great service, amazing Bacon Ciabatta!
K. P.
Absolutely brilliant, food to die for, v pleasant staff. V clean, good value. The disabled toilet was v clean too!
A. F.
Coffee is nice and the cakes look and taste homemade in the best possible way. The seating area may be little compact but this cafe is a must if you're in the area.
D. M.
Great little place, love the decoration and the food is fresh, fast, and yummy.
A. S.
Lovely cosy med style bistro, reasonably priced and excellent service. Will be back.
S. !.
I'm on the hunt for proper coffee! With flavour, not just burnt-coffee (aka espresso) based drinks. Coffee like we used to get everywhere (but with freshly roasted beans!). I get so excited every time I visit a new specialist coffee shop - particularly if they claim to be an "artisan" or "roaster" or have any iteration of the word "coffee" subtly blended within their name (because these places should fundamentally "get it"!) - maybe this time, just maybe. Give me a cafetiere and not only will you make my year and I'll give 5-star reviews across all platforms and shout about how awesome you are, but I'll also be back a hundred times! But alas no, I had to settle for a pot of tea here and my search continues...
Nice cakes though, just don't expect a generous portion.
Α. Μ.
We keep visiting Kothel despite the repeatedly slow service -even when the place is not busy- because we love the food and the cakes. Delicious.
E. I.
Service is very slow. 4 waiters and all 4 of them behind the bar with the restaurant full of customers. We were waiting 15 min to order and an other 20 to eat. My food was cold and the coffees arrived 5min after the food.
A. C.
Kothel is a really great place for coffee, soup, stuffed peppers, and chocolate brownies....just a few of my favourites. Lovely staff, great service with a smile.
I. B.
What a lovely place???? The food was simply amazing and the service was excellent. I was very impressed :) I was looking online where I can leave a review for this place and noticed some bad reviews, I read few of them and I could not stop laughing. People are funny. I am running my own business in Glasgow (Airbnb) and I realised that it doesn't really matter how hard you try to provide the best services (note I have been rated more that 5 times super-host), however, there will be always those people who will having nothing to better to do than spend like 30' complaining online because "they could not get a comfortable seat" or "asked for cream and the waitress said that did not have and looked at them funny" or "the croissant was very expensive".. oh my god! Get a life? And that's a same, for the person itself, it is sad actually, but also for people that will do a research to see whether that place is good or not and they will notice the average stars. I followed some of these people who left bad reviews and apparently (as expected) complaining seemed their hobby. So, always remember to follow that person who left a bad review and check out whether the review they left for a place is realistic or not.
H. C.
Been going to Krothel occasionally for the last three years, feeling the necessity to write a review.
The layout is old shop style ...Nice but the seating arrangement leave a bit of more thought.
Food is pretty ok .the
Coffee is very good.
Cakes to die for and a very impressive selection!
Pricing is a tad high and was slipped a Euro coin in my change yesterday....Not an accident in my opinion!:-((
So there you have it ....
Overall, a nice experience but a work in progress.
HC .......Hamilton.
E. R.
Lovely place and lovely staff. Coffee could have been a wee bit better - sorry.
D. M.
The Kothel is a wonderful addition to the west end. The best coffee served by great staff who are always friendly and welcoming. Great for lunch. Just love being able to go there most days. Thank you Sameena and Naz and the rest of the staff for always being pleasant and friendly.
A. F.
Love love love this place. Great coffee, mixed menu from a slice of cake to a full main course. I go here in the nice weather to people watch & shoot the breeze with locals & staff alike.
T. Q.
We had a three night visit to Glasgow, and came across this charming little place on the morning of our departure from the wonderful city. We decided that we just wanted a bite to eat for late breakfast before getting the train hime, and wondered past this place.
The window display or sandwiches looked very inviting, and we went in. We were greeted immediately by a pleasant lady, and given some menus. We went to sit upstairs, and our eyes were all over the place. This is such a quaint, cosy, lovely, if slightly eccentric place. The decor is amazing, and every wall is covered with artefacts.
From where we were sitting, you could see the two ladies preparing the fresh food t=for the day ahead, and the place was very clean, and well organised.
We ordered bacon Rolls, and cups of tea, as well as croissants. The bacon was absolutely delicious, and the rolls were superb. The tea was served in china cups and saucers, which again, added to the quaintness of this place. Both cups were a mismatch, and we love this.
We decided to order a couple of sandwiches also, to take away with us for lunch on our journey home, and they too were so very tasty.
This place is easy to miss, but, is worth seeking out. The staff are amazingly warm dn friendly the atmosphere is magical and the food is so very tasty.
The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and portions of food you receive.
We will be back here for sure on our next visit
Definitely recommend this place to people who like something just that little bit different, appreciate great service and who want a tasty meal
D. B.
Nice & friendly. Got talking to a chap who was by himself & he enjoyed our company
S. L.
Fantastic decor and brilliant coffee. Great food and freshly made baking everyday. Friendly staff. Best coffee shop in Glasgow. Now with ice cream!
E. T.
Cute wee cafe with excellent cakes and cracking coffee
R. T.
Arrived early and had about an hour to wait for my friend, had hot water and read. Was never made to feel in the way or I shouldn't be there. Staff friendly, service speedy, food great. Oh and for those with dogs, they are welcome too!
K. C. G.
What a beautiful cafe this place is. Every inch of detail has been thought about and you can totally see it. Delicious coffee and the staff and totally on point. All other cafes should go and take note. 👍🏽. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
R. C.
Good social distancing inside and out so felt safe.
Food was lovely, just wish their coffee cups were bigger! 😄
A. A.
A dog friendly cafe with a comprehensive menu of light bites and cakes. Judging by the flat white that I had, the coffee is quality, flavoursome stuff.
A. E.
Great coffee and a really good range of cakes. Food is nice and staff are helpful. Can get very busy
B. C.
Had lunch with my daughter on sat and it was fab ... Great choices of good and sweet naughty cakes ... Coffee great too .. atmosphere kinda laid back but with a definate happy buzz... Will definate be going back ... Regularly ..

I went to this Cafe multiple times while I was in Scotland for a week. The staff was always extremely friendly to me and answered questions I had about the surrounding area. The coffee and desserts are delicious!
K. D.
Excellent prepared home cooking that is reheated in shop. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere with ample outdoor seating for sunny days.
A. C.
Brilliant! Amazing sandwiches and top quality coffee! Love it Will return for sure!
J. D.
Had way better coffee elsewhere. Porridge was tasty although drowning in honey and the topping of "fruit" was a few grapes which was an odd combination.
Y. S.
Amazing food and such a lovely place to eat. Great you can bring dogs in too. Staff friendly, helpful. Would recommend to anyone. Had soup and sandwich was lush.
M. O.
Café Circa was closed, so we popped in here on Boxing Day. Artisan cafés are generally a hit-and-miss affair, as any trip to Edinburgh will testify, but this intimate little place gets it bang on. The decor is an odd but curiously endearing conflation of themes from Irish pub to Meditteranean bistro. Upon the charming young waitress' recommendation we had the bacon ciabatta, which was generously-sized and delicious. And the Guinness cake is to die for.
R. D.
Great coffee, almond croissants sadly not on the day I popped in, but are amazing. Lovely salads.
P. R.
Amazing place and staff. Food was fantastic and ample portions. Can't wait to go back and enjoy the brilliant ambiance of Kothel. Just wish there was one of the southside of Glasgow.
e. o.
The best croissants in Scotland, hands down, great ambience, if you want to feel like you can feel in Paris, this is the place.
M. S.
Adorable, eclectic, great hot lunches and sandwiches. Friendly staff and impressive bakery selection. Packed at lunch, but lots of funky adaptable seating.
H. M.
Gorgeous food, excellent service. Great to have the option to sit outside. Not so keen on the bull's head on the wall however.
M. W.
Great location in Broomhill to people watch, drink great coffee and enjoy a bacon ciabatta. Plenty of covered space on the terrace.
H. M.
Love love love this magical west end cafe. Phenomenal cake, cheery staff and a relax vibe. One of my favourite spots to go for a lazy sunday coffee.
f. w.
Fantastic selection of cakes and the portions are huge! Lovely coffee and nice atmosphere with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating
M. B.
Big variety food and desert . Nice robust coffee . Cake didn't taste quite fresh or perhaps was my bad luck :)
M. R.
Great atmosphere, Good Drinks ( Not Excellent), Cakes were not Fresh but Ok
A. W.
Best croissants in the area, wherever they come from! Good coffee, reasonably priced but woefully uncomfortable seating.
K. P.
Pleasant grungy cafe with a good selection of cake to enjoy. Good atmosphere. Service could be speedier. Well worth a visi
E. F.
Excellent atmosphere and really good service. Had cake and coffee and both excellent.

food also good.
price is very fair.

R. C.
Great coffee, cakes, ice cream (crolla's) and burgers (during lockdown). Friendly staff too.
A. S.
Stale cake. Tea tasted like coffee. Unwashed cup? Tea was replaced. I just ate the cake. Previous savoury food experiences much better.
E. B. B.
Great place to relax and socialise and they serve great coffee as well as tea, as well is this everything is reasonably priced offering good value for money.
D. R.
This place is cracking. Super quirky decor, staff are brilliant and the food is off the charts awesome!! Give the Guinness cake a try 🤤

One of the best coffee shops in the West End. Incredibly friendly staff, excellent atmosphere, and some great cakes to go with the coffee.
A. S.
Cozy atmosphere and great food/drinks. Kothel is my preferred cafe in west end.
S. M.
Staff not very present. Food mainly sold out at 12.30 yes sun shine yes that was predicted and it was not rammed.
Good on a rainy day tho
J. S.
Good food. Friendly service. Great coffee. Dog friendly. Quirky creative decor.
a. l.
The scone was dry and crumbly and an extra butter ,( only 1 was served) was 50p. Shame, the scones are always dry and crumbly, I should learn or go elsewhere.
S. N.
Fabulous wee rustic type cafe food served fresh and quick only problem I's trying to get parked outside staff are very friendly and helpful
R. M.
Great wee cafe; coffee, cakes and food are fantastic. Dog friendly too which is a bonus!

M. D.
Service a little slow and coffee a little bitter tbh. Nice place to watch the world though.
E. G.
Portion size of cake is really stingy, and hot chocolate tasted fairly bland. Average experience.
P. M.
The decor is very busy, OTT and seating very uncomfortable...the food clumsy and meh but there's nothing better in the area
B. N.
Very friendly staff, great selection of cakes and drinks and lovely cafe setting and atmosphere
I. I.
