Reviews of Laboratorio Espresso
A. A.
A cute little cafe in central Glasgow. It’s usually crowded cause they’ve got great coffee/ hot chocolate and chai latte. The staff are super friendly and lovely and are really good at what they’re doing. The cafe is clean and neat.
A. S.
Nomz batch, double shot espresso nearly killed me and that canoli 🤤❤️🤤 great staff that gave us a smile right as we walked in, will come back again
D. C.
Best town-centre espresso, for me. (Paper Cup, out on Great Western Road, is very nearly as good for an espresso, but out in West End.) Polite staff, always offer glass of water too. Clean toilet is also a down-to-earth town-centre bonus point. Small but good selection of bagged-up coffees, often v different from what's on sale elsewhere also available. Last time I was there, early March 2022, everyone else was eating some of the pastries, everyone else was far more stylishly-dressed than me (not a high bar, admittedly) and at least two were Italian.
K.
A cute wee place offering a tasty well made flat white. The cannoli available was a great pairing to the coffee.
M. H.
Great coffee! Highly recommended.
C. B.
Amazing coffee brews, and the most delicious gianduia cannoli ever. They also have the most stunning coffee papercup designed by a Scottish artist and it's eco friendly (compostable) so high respect for this. Lovely atmosphere, it's a small cafe with only a few tables but it's so beautiful.
L. L.
Visited Glasgow for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it did not stop raining so stopped here for a flat white and could resist "Lobster Tail" and this pistachio one was spot on. Read about this place online as a very good coffee spot in Glasgow and luckily it was up the road from our hotel. It's relatively small inside but o managed to get a seat and watch the rain. Also took some cannoli to go too as my fiancee loves them. Also didn't disappoint! Definitely worth a stop if you're passing.
S. K.
Aromatic latte for 2.80, you can really taste the coffee - an espresso with the same aroma would be better id imagine, after all it's in the name :) Great atmosphere, small and quiet place nestled in the city. Great for getting some work done as well.
D. L.
Good spot for some coffee. Standard of coffee very high, biscuits and other snacks on offer too. Would recommend for caffeine aficionados
S. H.
Super amazing 😻. First of all, the staff are friendly and lovely. Then, I've ordered a latte and croissant with cheese. The latte is delicious, combination between coffee and milk is neutral, as same as with croissant which is tasty. It's geart and this won't be my last time.
A. F.
Excellent coffee!
Y. Z.
Auesome coffee latte and croissant ! Love the atmosphere here as well. Nice playlist of songs with suitable volume. I will dafinently recommend this coffee shop to my friends travaling here.
A. V.
Their coffee game is the strongest I have seen in the city.
If you stumble across this little gem make sure you get the morning offer. It's a steal for what you get, seriously.
Also great pastries and great customer service.
Best spot in Glasgow.
E.
I was really excited to go and have my coffee here because the reviews were all great however my expectations went flat. The place looks very good, quite quirky. Unfortunately the coffee was good but a bit bitter and the gentleman serving was not particularly friendly. He wasn’t rude at all but it didn’t make me feel welcome. The coffee tends to be very busy but the majority are take away orders. Give it a try and see what you think.
M. M.
Delicious coffee and light breakfast food with beautiful presentation. It's a small place with a nicely decorated interior and the staff are very polite. The patio seating is very nice and the tables and benches are comfortable. Would recommend!
K. B.
Randomly came across this little place and spent a good cozy half an hour with their GREAT coffee. I would highly recommend this place to any coffee enthusiasts. I will definitely be returning if I'm ever in Glasgow again.
E. 5.
Popped in here for a V60 when I was waiting for my train to Edinburgh. They had great service and knew the ins and outs of the beans they were using. The coffee tasted great and they referred me to DAK coffee. Very happy with it and the service.
M. L.
Very clean and modern, coffee and cake we had was lovely
B. S.
I was in Glasgow recently and with my new found enjoyment of "proper coffee" I decided to try another coffee house, away from my favourite.
A quick Google search found Laboratorio Espresso so I decided to give it a go.
From the outside it appears small, which is confirmed when you get in (I counted about 15 seating spaces), but decided to head in anyway. I ordered a double Espresso which was really good and enjoyed it at the window seat just people watching.
Once I had finished my drink I approached the counter and asked the batista what the coffee was (as in, what brand / blend). He looked at me with a puzzled look that said both "are you daft?" and "why are you asking me this" which made me feel a little uneasy. The batista then told me that it was made by Barn Coffee from Germany but I can't remember the blend name as I was feeling awkward by now.
For me, the coffee was excellent but the staff made me feel a little like I wasn't good enough to be in there. Its not the warmest or friendliest of places I have experienced which is a shame because, as I've said, the coffee was excellent.
m. m.
Always good coffee. Shame that there are so few seats. The opportunity to sit in the cafe would have been nice!!
M. P.
If you think you don't like espresso just have one here. Not sour, nor bitter, just perfect.
A. D. D.
A small little joint that I happened into during a rainy ☔ day in Glasgow.
They've got coffee, teas, bites like savouries and sweets.
☕ The coffee (Americano) was okay, served with a little cookie on the side.
The service was fast and friendly.
I would probably try them again, and have a snack next time around.
A. s.
Good staff, good coffee, good location, cant ask for more... maybe some vegan pastry collection would be nice >.<
J. T.
Accidently stumbled on this gem of a coffee shop. Amazing speciality coffee and cakes looked nice too! Proper coffee for anyone who expects modern speciality quality, I've had 2 perfect flat whites, nicely bookending my walk down the west highland way!
V. s.
One of the best in Glasgow. Into the heart of the city this small shop with coffees from European (and not only)roasters will guide you to new indulge levels
M. J.
Good coffee but some staffs are not friendly, small shop
G. K.
Great full flavoured coffee and an excellent ham and cheese croissant.
R. Y.
Great coffee and nice atmosphere. Wifi is quite fast as well.
J. S.
Lovely coffee ☕ and pleasant staff
J. C.
Fabulous coffee , and friendly staff. Small selection but nice cakes available. A couple of tables outside Nice chilled vibe
a. s.
Beautiful coffee, lovely staff and very chilled atmosphere. Small place but that only adds to the charm.
d. s.
A small cafe selling very good coffee.
The staff were efficient and polite.
Would definitely visit again
J. O.
Cracking coffee; seriously good. I tried soya macchiato and it was delicious. Best tasting coffee in the centre.
1.
Staff are really friendly and welcoming and the coffee is great. Lovely cosy small place
R. B.
Really smooth & intense coffee with a great selection of small treats
M. R.
Flat white and granola bar. Both very good. Limited seating inside but coffee was good!
L. C.
Nice coffee and I love sitting at the counter watching people passing by. The decoration is simple and interesting.
B. J.
good coffee, v nice cakes!
Nice little place to get a bit of work done... not too loud and the tasty aromas of coffee!
D. H.
Great coffee and lovely cakes 👌🏻👌🏻
G. F.
Some of the best coffee I’ve tried in Glasgow - highly recommend the cannoli too!
C. B.
Great coffee & pit stop in the City Centre.
X. L.
Great coffee, good food and wonderful staff.
W. S.
Lovely coffee although the owner can be a bit curt sometimes
M. K.
Nice place with a speciality coffee.
M. F.
Nice teas and coffees in a chic environment. Impressive baking. There are some tasty sandwiches but it's not really a lunch spot, partly due to its size. On that note, it's a small place with only a handful of tables and chairs so bear that in mind if you're planning to meet someone for a sit-down coffee.
d. d.
Absolutely fantastic coffee and canolli's. A must visit for any coffee lover.
D. F. (.
Fantastic coffee shop, easily one of the best in Scotland! Coffee from 5 exceptional roasters that I heard rotates often. Drinks beautifully presented (with a little amaretti biscuit on the side!) and a good selection of food. Small space definitely designed to enjoy fantastic speciality coffee and not to camp out and work.
If you care about good coffee, visit this place!
S. B.
Very nice batch brew filter coffees.
M. C.
A Cramped venue with a confusing layout on how to order not helped by multiple members of staff trying to help at once. Regardless coffee is outstanding and sandwiches are interesting & tasty (too much sea salt perhaps). Attracts a friendly crowd which is good as you'll likely be sharing a table and the staff are nice.
H. G.
A small but perfectly formed coffee stop. A quiet but friendly vibe inside. Delicious coffee, the flavours of which we could taste even though we opted for a milk-based coffee (flat whites). Usually milk kills the flavour but these guys know exactly how to serve up a milky coffee full of taste. For non-dairy they use Minor Figures oat mylk which is much less sweet than other brands, helping the flavour profile to shine through even more. Pastries were also on point. And, as if all of this wasn't enough, their plates are beautiful too.
D. L.
Guess the best artisan coffee shop in town; buy an Americano, balanced bitterness and acidity, glad there is a serious coffee shop in town
P. F.
Not a coffee drinker myself, but came in with a colleague who is. Very nice decor, relaxed atmosphere and a very nice pot of tea for me!
My colleague loved his Santa Teresa Panama espresso - said this goes to show how good proper coffee is
A. M.
Good coffee doesn't need sugar... Coffee here didn't need sugar
J. P.
They make the best Espresso I've ever had.
D. L.
Always a delight. For me, the best cappuccino in town!
O.
Nice, small coffee shop with really good coffee. Small selection of cakes also available.
S.
Incredible coffee and food in a beautifully designed environment. Get the prosciutto croissant!
L. B.
Probably my favourite place to get coffee in Glasgow. The filter coffees are different every week or so, bringing a new range of amazing coffees and tastes to a grey dreary Glasgow pallette. The cakes and biscuits aren't half bad too.
The only downside is that there is little seating and what there is can be cramped and intimate with strangers.
J. L.
We needed a quick caffeine hit between trains and this fitted the bill excellently. My black americano was well made, with solid dark chocolate notes. The mini amaretti biscuit was a nice touch. Also, the toilet was really appreciated!
S. W.
Nice independent cafe close to Buchanan street and other shopping areas in central Glasgow. Worth a walk away from the main shopping drags. Decent non-chain coffee. We went in on Sunday and it was a little bit pushed for space. We had to sit on a stool at the bar as the tables were full. Not sure how busy it would get in the week or on Saturdays.
K. Š.
Great (and tiny) little cafe around the corner from Buchanan Bus Station. I had a great flat white and a caramel brownie that was to die for. The service was really good and the place is also great for working on your laptop, as there is plenty of sockets everywhere.
R. V. V.
Get the cold brew, you won't be disappointed. Just wish there was more seats/space inside.
e. l.
I have tried many coffee shops in Glasgow and this is without a doubt my favourite one. The staff are very friendly and obviously enjoy what they do. Any of the food that I have had has been tasty and well presented. The atmosphere is very relaxed
V. K.
Don't understand the high ratings. Slick looking place with some good ingredients (coffee beans) but the cappuccino was bitter, and certainly not one of the best I've had. Breakfast pastry selection is limited also.
T. M.
Brilliant coffee and attentative staff!
L. K.
Brilliant place. Coffee is excellent and if you ask for recommendations, the staff are very helpful, drawing your attention to other types of coffee you may not have known. Best place I've had for an Americano and a flat white.
D. S.
Nice enough coffee, staff kind of rude and fond of themselves.
R. H.
Great taste and friendly staff 🙌 A lovely place to start a day
J. W.
It's tiny but the coffee is AMAZING!
E. M.
such a nice wee cafe, staff are always very friendly & the food/coffee is amazing. so easy to get to from the main streets in Glasgow & a good place if you just want to chill from the chaos outside that is buchanan st, this seems like a coffee place but the tea & hot chocolate are also good !
N. M.
Probably the best coffee you will have ever had (to pull a carlsberg cheesy pun on you...) croissant with cheese and prosciutto melts away in waves of deliciousness. Don't miss this piccolo cafe in Glasgow!
K. A.
Some of the best coffee in Glasgow city centre. They even have some seats out the front, which are in the sun for the morning and early afternoon! A lovely place to sit when it's sunny and watch the world go by.
C. M.
Brst coffee in Glasgow hands-down. Lovey staff and a good selection of baked goods too.
S. M.
Stopped in here after a long coach journey: the perfect time for a well-made long black. The barista clearly loves what he does, and it tastes great. Small, simple cafe, perfect for a quick stop.
V. J.
This is what I call a specialty coffee café. Totally awesome flatwhite made by a really great barista. Not all the cafes that call them self speciality have single-origin and quality coffee and when they do, sometimes the way they prepare it is questionable, this wasn’t the case, so I put this café above them.
M. R.
Decent coffee, not wildly expensive. Friendly staff, nice food
L. F.
four ☆
one member of staff is slightly pompous so you have to lose a star because of his bad attitude.
D. R.
The Batista's were really friendly, had great recommendations and made an absolutely amazing espresso! Definitely worth a visit!
R. T.
To be honest, based on the reviews I expected better coffee. However, the place is quiet, the service is great with friendly staff.
T. D.
Awesome indy coffee house in the heart of Glasgow. For the optimists, there's outdoor seating on West Nile Street, while the inside is snug and cosy. The coffee is class.
G. M.
Cool little spot for good coffee in central Glasgow.
B. M.
Great selection of top quality coffees and cakes (the cannoli are excellent). The coffees are taken from roasters around the world and change regularly, they also sell coffee beans to make at home.
C. D.
Great vibe and ok prices 👌
E. G.
Came here for a morning coffee. Good tasting coffee and friendly staff. Place a little on the small size, but lots of windows for light and people watching.
B. ..
Gone straight into number 1 position in my coffee chart of Glasgow coffee shops. Friendly staff, chilled atmosphere and the smoothest flat white I've ever tasted.
D. M.
Superb coffee, some of the best espresso I've ever tasted. They have cakes, a fine selection of roasted beans and teas too
A. E.
Some of the nicest coffee available in the city centre. It's only a anak place but you can usually get a seat. Staff are friendly and the cakes are good too.
d. l.
Always serves a good coffee, staff friendly and know what they're doing and always have some great beans for retail. Just a shame that there's so little seating, about half the time I have to walk past because the 10 or seats inside are full.
C. W.
Good coffee but not as good as I had hoped for given its reputation. Very small and cramped too so don't expect to get a seat.
C. S.
Strong coffee which is the main plus. A bit cramped and one of the guys serving forgot my full order and sat down without bringing my cake. He seemed disinterested regarding service which is poor.
t. t.
Small place but by God the coffees good .I had a Flat White that was the best I've ever had ,The lemon polenta is absolutely gorgeous and my son had peach juice that he loved and cannoli that he also said was amazing .if I stayed in central Glasgow I would be in here every day .It is that good .Better than Costa or Starbucks .. I've had coffee from all over the world and I'm really fussy about it but this place is artisan in they're coffee.
C. J.
Great wee place in the centre of Glasgow. The coffee was good and not burnt, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the cannelloni were delicious!
What more could you ask for?
C. R.
Great black coffee for coffeeholic.
There are beans from Nomad & Fjord roaster.
D. C.
Great coffee. Always served with small amaretto biscuit, which is great detail. It's nice place to stop and just enjoy the coffee.
C. T.
Friendly staff, nice coffee in a good central location; plenty of seats outside but inside can get a little cramped when raining. Good for takeaway!
S. P.
Best coffee in Glasgow city centre, hands down. Good selection of cakes and sandwiches too. Great staff who know their stuff as well.
M. Y.
Nice place. Coffee a bit "thin" tasting and sour. Though I think that's my coffee preferences (I want dark roasts) rather than their fault.
s. p.
Excellent coffee shop, with good tea too. Best coffee in this area of the city centre. Also a nice place to sit.
R.
The best coffee in Glasgow, I stay here for 3 month and i all i do search for the the alpha coffee 😂♥️
And i see this wonderful place i really recommend it 👍🏻♥️
C. J.
Excellent coffee, consistently well made. Snacks and soundtrack are good, and the place has a modern, uncluttered aesthetic.
M. F.
Excellent coffee. Small interior with a few seats. Will revisit next time I’m in town!
P. P.
Nice to find a decent and independant coffee spot in Glasgow - coffee is really good, light bites are equally as good - shame there is not more space though this also adds to the places character.
M. B.
This is my first time in here and it won't be the last, their coffee is flavoursome and smooth without being overbearing, enjoyed with a canoli on a wet mornings all you need to start a Monday.
J. B.
A bit small so you might not get a seat inside but the coffee was great. Good selection of tray bakes too.
N. W.
I had and Excellent single origin guest espresso and a filter. Both were extremely nice. Very happy
M. S.
Great spot for coffee but limited space inside to sit down when busy! Also do a great soy chai 🌱
A. T.
Really good coffee but the staff is very rude and unfriendly.
M. J.

D. S.
Great coffee and nibbles.
D. M.
Great place for coffee & snacks
I do love their speciality sandwiches.
A good place to sit in and watch people go by.
J. H.
Clearly they take their coffee seriously. Add the walls covered in thin slats of wood , a couple of tiny tables and lots of natural light - the complete deal for any antipodean in need of a flat white or siphon coffee .
J. R.
One of Glasgow's better speciality coffee shops. Good selection of retail bags from Europe's top roasters.
D. A.

(Translated) It is a tiny space, perfect for a coffee in the merchants city area of Glasgow. In true Italian style, this little place serves coffee to a point of perfection. The granola bars are incredibly delicious, the biscotti I could say is the best I have ever had in my life and I also tried a sandwich! They have an Areá to have coffee outside, where it is possible to smoke.
