I love this place!! The vibe both inside and outside is just unreal. It is located in a narrow street that looks like a hippie community. Inside the place has sofas and cushions to sit on the floor. The tea options are great and really varied! They also have tasty little snacks!

So good! Such a zen place. Really nice to catch up with friends or go yourself to relax. There is a seating area outside but I feel like sitting inside you get more of an experience. The music is so relaxing and there is a really nice smell of incense. The teas are delicious, the staff are really nice and helpful and it's just an all round great place to feel calm. You can buy the teas to take home too, there is a lovely little shop. Definitely recommend!

This place has never disappointed me over the years I've been coming here. I have not been anywhere else which offers this much variety of tea from different parts of the world and the food options also always feel fresh and taste great. Honestly it's a place everyone should visit at least once.

Amazing hidden gem. Best chai tea I've ever had. Really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Local artwork on the walls and a real rustic but cozy feel to the place. There's a huge selection of teas and the staff seem to really no what they are doing.

A neat little hideaway hidden down a lane. I've been here once before, it was where I had my first date with my boyfriend 5 years ago! Came back with a couple of friends last night. Our table was in the 'zen' nook. You sat on the floor and there was plenty of cushions to keep you comfy although I learned it's best having your legs stretched out, having mine crossed was giving pins and needles! The staff were pleasant although my friend had to go find someone to place an order as we had been sat for a while without being seen (I'm not sure if it was table service or a order at the counter scenario though so that could be an error on our part). The atmosphere was super relaxing, I loved that it was calming music in the background and at a low volume. The interior is really cool, a lot of Mish mash furniture and felt like you were in a cosy cave. I'm always a fan of second hand/vintage items, so it was great to see all our teapots had different styles. A great selection of food to choose from. I had the "mister beige" which was a vegan sandwich with olives, hummus, sun-dried tomatoes and lettuce. It was slightly toasted, lovely and warm. Just a good size to fill you up. My friends went for hummus and pitta bread and a cheese and cracker selection, it looked great too! I chose the vegan chocolate cake, I couldn't put my finger on the flavour but there was a lovely warming sensation, almost like a gingerbread? Went great with my russian caravan blend. Great selection of teas, I think it said 80 to choose from? You're definitely spoiled for choice. This is a really great place to go if you're wanting an evening to relax with friends and not a fan of noisy pubs/alcohol like myself!

Very nice selection of different teas from all over the world. It is for sure a very hipster place, the entrance is almost hidden in a back street. I had a very good time there, drinking an oolong (first time) and tasting a plate of middle east bites.

Wow what a place! I'd heard about Chai Ovna for some time and when I finally went it lived up to the hype. Lovely little cafe that feels a world away from the rest of Glasgow with its eclectic tables and chairs and decor, including piano! A huge selection of amazing teas and delicious vegetarian and vegan fayre. I cant wait to go back!

My partner and I were looking for a tea place and we found a hidden gem. The selection of teas is amazing and the food was really delicious. We had the Baba ghanoush with flat bread and Parsnip and Coconut soup with sourdough bread. For tea we shared a pot of Rooibos tea and it was very delicate and smooth. Would definitely return.

Simply wonderful. This place has fantastic tea, food and an amazing atmosphere. The range of teas is outstanding; I encountered many from my travels and many I had never heard of. The food is excellent and seating is comfortable in a setting with mismatching furniture, with outdoor seating also available. The space also has a healing feel to it.

Best tea experience. Life changing tea , service was equally awesome. Had the soup of the day which was arguably the best soup I’ve tasted in the UK. The service though is cesspool of a mess . So while I’m leaving the 5 star here on account of the quality of the products but the service was ?. Staff were very nice but rather incompetent . Our drink was cleared before we finished and there was a confusion over whether our purchase was available or not . So midway we got refunded and then before we left , they came out with the tea. Everything was just confusing. I hope this is sorted because the quality was amazing Amazing - one shouldn’t miss this experience

Like always a pleasure going there. Very hip, "rustic" Ambiente so most definitely not for everyone but we like the old books, random things and cosy seating corners. She had the spice master and I had the healing flower tea. Spice master was quite spicy, as one would expect. Rich chilly taste. The healing flower tea tasted like honey and subtle, comforting passion flower.

The cosiest li'l café you'll ever experience. There are fancy lamps and fancy carpets on the walls. There's even a little alcove to sit in with cushions. If you fancy tea - they've also got a veritable fancy encyclo-tea-dia with coconut milk available and some small (but nice) food/other drink options. Fantastic staff and an amazing atmosphere AND your tea comes in an adorable tea pot with a fancy little tea cup (or a few if you don't think you can handle a whole lot of tea to yourself - but youll want to spend all day in here so you definitely can).

A fantastic place to visit, with an exhaustive choice of teas and some choice cuisine to compliment your brew. This is probably as unique as you'll find on a trip to Glasgow. Be warned though, it's not a swift 10 minute visit, come here when you've an hour or two to lose, relax and refresh.

Great experience here. Staff are chill, and happy to recommend a tea (as it’s an expansive menu!). I’d recommend the Spiced Honey if you’re looking for something delicious and similar to a chai latte. Food had really big portions which helps justify the price. Finally, the extremely laid back, hipster and chabby chic atmosphere make this place worth going to at least once a week, even for just reading a book. Whenever I need to relax I go to this place. Friendly staff, friendly and accepting people all around. You won’t feel like a stranger in this shop. Not to mention the amazing chill- bands and music they play nearly every night. In cold night I would suggest the “honey-spiced tea”. Trust me 👌🏻😊

I love this place and have done for years; there's a huge range of really nice teas and a very specific sort of atmosphere that I've never found elsewhere. Having said that, it seems to be common to have to wait an unreasonable length of time for your order to be served (an hour for a single pot of tea is mad) due to staff struggling to handle how busy it can often be.

Just don't go if you're pressed for time, it's really small and I guess staff are busy because they didn't really acknowledge us or give us menus even though we'd been in for 15 minutes. A hidden gem, located on the banks of the Kelvin. Unfortunately no outside area anymore, but the interior is cosy and charming. The range of teas is, as expected, excellent. Perhaps one of my favorite places to go to in all of Glasgow. I've had many a special afternoon and evening in Tchai-Ovna. Though I'm not so adventurous when it comes to the menu (I seemingly always end up getting the Yogi-Yogi chai tea which is absolutely phenomenal and out of this world), I always feel right at home here given the lovely vibes created by the staff of Tchai-Ovna. Haven't managed to try any of the food on the menu yet, but have been recommended it by a variety of my friends, and I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later! They also often have concerts and similar events for people to enjoy. When it gets a bit warmer there's also a lovely outdoor area where some fresh air can be enjoyed (if Glasgow permits it!). They also have a lovely selection of paintings on display, one which I couldn't stop myself from buying. They are mainly from local artists so the support goes to the right place! Highly recommend this absolute gem of Glasgow!

Eclectic collection of seating and tables,which was expected and suited this place,although I found it a bit grubby I wanted to spring into action with my feather duster and cleaning cloth. However the kitchen looked clean enough. We had a pot of desi tchai and pot of yogi yogi tchai which were delicious along with a slice of vegan chocolate cake which was nice. We did wait quite a while for our order considering it was tea and cake but the menu did make you aware there maybe waiting times based on staffing and order requirements. The place was quite cold to sit around waiting. Nice collection of teapots being used although shocked to see aluminium pots being used😦. Anyway, been there, done it but wouldn't buy the teashirt.

We had some Little Buddha Tea, some Genmai Cha Tea, the soup and the Middle Eastern Platter of Delights. Had the most delicious veggie curry here once. It used to have a really nice view over the river before the ugly student halls were built. Lots of different teas to try and occasional entertainment evenings, open mic etc.

Great selection of vegetarian food. Even if the place is famous for its tea selection we fully recommend it for food too. We ordered the red lentils, the falafel and the dolmades. All three absolutely amazing and very tasteful. The prices also very affordable. The only drawback is the cat that strolls around, not really good for places serving food and in general the sitting areas were dusty. Nevertheless we absolutely recommend it and we will return for sure.

When I heard about this place, I expected more than I got. The staff is friendly and the tea and desserts great, but I didn't really like the fact that you have to go and order by yourself, you can only pay by card when it's over ten pounds and the whole place seems a bit chaotic. A great exploration of worldwide tea options. If you're looking for a more traditional tea shop to go and chat over tea and crumpets then do be warned that this isn't it. You'd be better served with something like the Hidden Lane Tea Rooms. Tchai-Ovna is more the kind of place you want to be when you're wanting to just get into a better head space over a hot drink and a good book.

One of best places for tea! Have been going to chai ovna for 8yrs and still one of my favourite places in Glasgow. The other great thing is the veg & vegan food, calming atmosphere and of course the various teas.

Tchai-Ovna Tea House has a lovely atmosphere where you can go to study, discuss politics with friends, or just sip tea and have a slice of Vegan cake. The food is delicious, and the cats are overall friendly. My only complaint is that because there are no windows in the alley-way cafe, I find myself there most oftentimes at night.

It's like a relaxed and casual oasis of spice and vegetarian/vegan in the middle of the city. They have a huge variation of teas from around the world with different levels and mixes of spice. There's several tasty food choises like the days soup, curry or a middle eastern platter of delights. My soup where minestrone and tasted amazing with the right balance of spiceness. Live music takes the stage during the evenings. Favorit tea at the moment: Yogi yogi chai.

Have always loved coming to Tchai-Ovna, really chill relaxed place. You come in, pet the kitty if it’s sprawled out on a chair, grab yourself a seat, select your tea or food from the extensive tea menu, and head to the kitchen door (by the bathroom) and place your order. I have only had one issue, on a day they were short staffed, and the place was packed to the rafters! I was with my mum, who being diabetic was needing some food pretty soonish.... We placed our order, and waited, and waited... 20/30 minutes later she went to the kitchen to ask where her food was, to be told the last slice of cake she ordered had been given out to someone who ordered after us, but they were defrosting another one... They apologised profusely, explained they were short staffed and super busy, and different people had taken the order. These things happen, we’re all human, but a bit more organisation would have helped.... And saved my mum from getting even lower blood sugar. Doesn’t put me off going back, as I’ve been back since, as I understand these things happen. Point is, definitely check it out, but don’t expect food and drinks 2 seconds after you order

Amazing tea selection and an interesting and relaxing space. I tried a very pleasant jasmin tea which came in a ptetty pot with a lovely drinking bowl. They were happy to refil the pot with hot water. I was enjoying my time there so much I decided to try a very special white tea. This arrived in a small iron teapot with a flask of hot water to top it up with. Again theybwere happy to refil theflask with hit water. I didn't eat but what I could see of the food from this who were it would be equally good. Excellent place to come read a book, chat with friends or just generally chill over some excellent teas or vegetarian food.

Tucked away in a bylane is this gem of a tea house and eatery. The veg/vegan food is amazing and so is the Tchai. You are spoilt for choice. Just a piece of advice: if you plan on dining here, the food is prepared fresh and that takes time.
