Reviews of Tchai-Ovna House of Tea
M. L.
I love this place!! The vibe both inside and outside is just unreal. It is located in a narrow street that looks like a hippie community. Inside the place has sofas and cushions to sit on the floor. The tea options are great and really varied! They also have tasty little snacks!
R. P.
So good! Such a zen place. Really nice to catch up with friends or go yourself to relax. There is a seating area outside but I feel like sitting inside you get more of an experience. The music is so relaxing and there is a really nice smell of incense. The teas are delicious, the staff are really nice and helpful and it's just an all round great place to feel calm. You can buy the teas to take home too, there is a lovely little shop. Definitely recommend!
A. F.
What a calm and tranquil spot. Excellent tea. Just noshed my vegan goulash with my ‘fairies blood’ herbal tea - superb flavours. Very happy. Will definitely be back!
C. S. (.
If you like flavour in your tea, and an incredibly vast and possibly unmatched selection of said flavours, then this is for you.
If you like heart food that could have been made by your mum on a cold winter day, this is for you.
If you like an atmospheric and welcoming space that oozes with personality, then this is for you.
R. S.
This place has never disappointed me over the years I've been coming here. I have not been anywhere else which offers this much variety of tea from different parts of the world and the food options also always feel fresh and taste great. Honestly it's a place everyone should visit at least once.
A. B.
Amazing hidden gem. Best chai tea I've ever had. Really relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Local artwork on the walls and a real rustic but cozy feel to the place.
There's a huge selection of teas and the staff seem to really no what they are doing.
S. M.
A neat little hideaway hidden down a lane. I've been here once before, it was where I had my first date with my boyfriend 5 years ago! Came back with a couple of friends last night.
Our table was in the 'zen' nook. You sat on the floor and there was plenty of cushions to keep you comfy although I learned it's best having your legs stretched out, having mine crossed was giving pins and needles!
The staff were pleasant although my friend had to go find someone to place an order as we had been sat for a while without being seen (I'm not sure if it was table service or a order at the counter scenario though so that could be an error on our part).
The atmosphere was super relaxing, I loved that it was calming music in the background and at a low volume. The interior is really cool, a lot of Mish mash furniture and felt like you were in a cosy cave. I'm always a fan of second hand/vintage items, so it was great to see all our teapots had different styles.
A great selection of food to choose from. I had the "mister beige" which was a vegan sandwich with olives, hummus, sun-dried tomatoes and lettuce. It was slightly toasted, lovely and warm. Just a good size to fill you up. My friends went for hummus and pitta bread and a cheese and cracker selection, it looked great too! I chose the vegan chocolate cake, I couldn't put my finger on the flavour but there was a lovely warming sensation, almost like a gingerbread? Went great with my russian caravan blend. Great selection of teas, I think it said 80 to choose from? You're definitely spoiled for choice.
This is a really great place to go if you're wanting an evening to relax with friends and not a fan of noisy pubs/alcohol like myself!
Z. B.
Outstanding tea selection with a unique atmosphere. You should be able to find something to suit your taste. Could certainly spend hours here alone or with friends. I'll be back very soon.
W. N.
Very nice selection of different teas from all over the world. It is for sure a very hipster place, the entrance is almost hidden in a back street. I had a very good time there, drinking an oolong (first time) and tasting a plate of middle east bites.
S. M.
Most relaxing place in Glasgow, if not Scotland! Get the flapjacks!
K. H.
Wow what a place! I'd heard about Chai Ovna for some time and when I finally went it lived up to the hype. Lovely little cafe that feels a world away from the rest of Glasgow with its eclectic tables and chairs and decor, including piano! A huge selection of amazing teas and delicious vegetarian and vegan fayre. I cant wait to go back!
M. J.
Plenty of tea varieties and very tasty. The atmosphere is the main reason that we should come back here again, such a very attractive place! Vegan food is available here.
N. P.
My partner and I were looking for a tea place and we found a hidden gem. The selection of teas is amazing and the food was really delicious. We had the Baba ghanoush with flat bread and Parsnip and Coconut soup with sourdough bread. For tea we shared a pot of Rooibos tea and it was very delicate and smooth. Would definitely return.
M. S. W.
Simply wonderful. This place has fantastic tea, food and an amazing atmosphere. The range of teas is outstanding; I encountered many from my travels and many I had never heard of. The food is excellent and seating is comfortable in a setting with mismatching furniture, with outdoor seating also available. The space also has a healing feel to it.
S. M.
Best tea experience. Life changing tea , service was equally awesome. Had the soup of the day which was arguably the best soup I’ve tasted in the UK.
The service though is cesspool of a mess . So while I’m leaving the 5 star here on account of the quality of the products but the service was ?. Staff were very nice but rather incompetent . Our drink was cleared before we finished and there was a confusion over whether our purchase was available or not . So midway we got refunded and then before we left , they came out with the tea. Everything was just confusing. I hope this is sorted because the quality was amazing
Amazing - one shouldn’t miss this experience
M. B.
Loved the tea. Chilled kinda hipster atmosphere. Perfect to go out with friends.
T. L.
Like always a pleasure going there. Very hip, "rustic" Ambiente so most definitely not for everyone but we like the old books, random things and cosy seating corners. She had the spice master and I had the healing flower tea. Spice master was quite spicy, as one would expect. Rich chilly taste. The healing flower tea tasted like honey and subtle, comforting passion flower.
R. P.
What an amazing cute little adorable place!the gigs are always awesome and the variety of tea they serve is just incredible. The vegan chocolate cake is a must try
Q. M.
Cool spot for nice tea, have plenty of music. Can easily sit and read here
K. C.
Stumbled upon this wee shop on a recent visit to Glasgow and it's delightful, the xhai was AMAZING and the baklava so fresh
J. B.
Love the ambience but there’s too many cats. I lost playing Connect 4 once but I was rolling on ket so
T. l.
I got the fairy blood tea it was so good!
G. B.
Wonderful, special teas with a cosy atmosphere and friendly staff.
G. T.
Brilliant selection of speciality teas and snacks. Relaxed atmosphere. Quirky decor.
S. W.
A nice little place tucked away down a small side street.
Many teas to choose from.
We had the Longjing tea which was nice.
Very laid back vibe here with a small seating area out the back.
T. G.
A wonderful haven from real life - quiet, cosy corners to hide away in, delicious food, amazing tea and awesome staff!
C. C.
Great great place for vegetarians and tea lovers!! Lovely vibe and friendly staff 💕💕 only downside was that they don't have wifi service since it's an older building
D. W.
Definitely a great tea selection and tasty food. Always a nice and chill experience.
G. M.
How have I not rated here yet? Been coming for nearly 10 years. Tea is delicious! The atmosphere is relaxing and always smells amazing! Everyone needs to experience here!
A. C.
The vibe of this place is fantastic. It feels like a secret, special place! There are rugs everywhere and eclectic decor. Their tea is also very, very delicious.
p. L.
Amazing tea, amazing vibes, amazing music. I am in love.
K. L.
The cosiest li'l café you'll ever experience. There are fancy lamps and fancy carpets on the walls. There's even a little alcove to sit in with cushions. If you fancy tea - they've also got a veritable fancy encyclo-tea-dia with coconut milk available and some small (but nice) food/other drink options. Fantastic staff and an amazing atmosphere AND your tea comes in an adorable tea pot with a fancy little tea cup (or a few if you don't think you can handle a whole lot of tea to yourself - but youll want to spend all day in here so you definitely can).
A. T.
Over 80 teas to choose from we were spoiled for choice. Lovely cosy atmosphere with friendly staff. Their yogi chai tea is definitely worth a try ! Highly recommended
N. H.
Pretty quirky place known for its tea collection. I understand they are going for the rustic feel but I was put off by the dusty couches and dirty floors. The tea was good but the service was pretty poor.
p. r.
Amazingly generous and tasty food servings 😁⭐ Tea is also really good!! Would recommend 100% 🤗
S. C.
A fantastic place to visit, with an exhaustive choice of teas and some choice cuisine to compliment your brew. This is probably as unique as you'll find on a trip to Glasgow. Be warned though, it's not a swift 10 minute visit, come here when you've an hour or two to lose, relax and refresh.
W. J.
Lovely little haven. Great nourishing food and atmosphere. Does have a cat in residence, something to be aware of if allergic.
S. B.
Great experience here. Staff are chill, and happy to recommend a tea (as it’s an expansive menu!). I’d recommend the Spiced Honey if you’re looking for something delicious and similar to a chai latte. Food had really big portions which helps justify the price. Food is perfectly spiced and very wholesome. Good atmosphere
t. r. a.
This place never disappoints you, the teas are superb and always brewed the right way. Moreover, the cakes and food are delicious. Finally, the extremely laid back, hipster and chabby chic atmosphere make this place worth going to at least once a week, even for just reading a book.
Hands down one of the top places in Glasgow overall.
Y. A.
Whenever I need to relax I go to this place. Friendly staff, friendly and accepting people all around. You won’t feel like a stranger in this shop. Not to mention the amazing chill- bands and music they play nearly every night.
In cold night I would suggest the “honey-spiced tea”. Trust me 👌🏻😊
X. M.
I love this place and have done for years; there's a huge range of really nice teas and a very specific sort of atmosphere that I've never found elsewhere. Having said that, it seems to be common to have to wait an unreasonable length of time for your order to be served (an hour for a single pot of tea is mad) due to staff struggling to handle how busy it can often be.
M.
Really cosy and cute with huge selection of unusual teas and tasty vegan food. Just don't go if you're pressed for time, it's really small and I guess staff are busy because they didn't really acknowledge us or give us menus even though we'd been in for 15 minutes. It was similar the other times I've been but most recently we were so hungry we just patted the cat (so cute) and went elsewhere for food.
S. S.
Small, secluded and quiet atmosphere. Very hippy
S. B.
The tea is superb. The atmosphere genial, friendly and comfy. The staff are keen to assist and very professional. The range of teas plus available food is outstanding. Although I haven't yet tried it at night (and I will go back for this) I understand the atmosphere is superb with regular live entertainment. Definitely well worth a visit again and again!
M. D.
Cosy, warm and charismatic place for tea and entertainment. The people there are just amazing!
L. O.
Lovely tea house! With the variety to please everyone. Cosy with personal touch. The food menu will not leave anyone hungry either. If the usual café's selection of teas leaves you longing for a change, you won't be disappointed, but if you are an established tea lover, this place is surely going to please your senses!
G. T.
A hidden gem, located on the banks of the Kelvin. Unfortunately no outside area anymore, but the interior is cosy and charming. The range of teas is, as expected, excellent. Staff are friendly and the music is eclectic which adds to the charm. A great place to chill away from the bustle of the rest of the city
M. A. d. H.
Perhaps one of my favorite places to go to in all of Glasgow. I've had many a special afternoon and evening in Tchai-Ovna. Though I'm not so adventurous when it comes to the menu (I seemingly always end up getting the Yogi-Yogi chai tea which is absolutely phenomenal and out of this world), I always feel right at home here given the lovely vibes created by the staff of Tchai-Ovna. Haven't managed to try any of the food on the menu yet, but have been recommended it by a variety of my friends, and I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later! They also often have concerts and similar events for people to enjoy. When it gets a bit warmer there's also a lovely outdoor area where some fresh air can be enjoyed (if Glasgow permits it!). They also have a lovely selection of paintings on display, one which I couldn't stop myself from buying. They are mainly from local artists so the support goes to the right place! Highly recommend this absolute gem of Glasgow!
v. w.
Eclectic collection of seating and tables, which was expected and suited this place, although I found it a bit grubby I wanted to spring into action with my feather duster and cleaning cloth. However the kitchen looked clean enough. We had a pot of desi tchai and pot of yogi yogi tchai which were delicious along with a slice of vegan chocolate cake which was nice. We did wait quite a while for our order considering it was tea and cake but the menu did make you aware there maybe waiting times based on staffing and order requirements.
The place was quite cold to sit around waiting.
Nice collection of teapots being used although shocked to see aluminium pots being used😦.
Anyway, been there, done it but wouldn't buy the teashirt.
R. S. K.
Great homely atmosphere, lovely staff and amazing tea. If you're in Glasgow, definitely visit this place. The live music days are the best, but it's great otherwise too. Oh and did I mention they have a cat that just hangs around
J. K.
One of Glasgow's best hideaways. Everything about the place just hits the spot. Comfy seating, relaxed atmosphere, delicious teas, food and sweet treats. Perfect for a catch up with friends or time to read that good book!
H. B.
Very cozy. Polite staff. Fantastic tea selection.
Extremely long wait times for both tea and food orders. Crowd and atmosphere are at the mercy of local University students.
Go for the sandwich. The chili is not great.
J. R.
Awesome tea shop tucked back off the main roads. The chocolate flapjack is wonderful, as is their Turkish coffee. Add to that a really cool atmosphere and you have yourself a winner.
M. G.
Cosy, quirky place with indie vibes and so many teas on the menu! Vegetarian and vegan dishes available, too. The Mecca of Tea in Glasgow! Plus, they host a few gigs throughout the month by independent artists. What's not to love!
J. D.
My fella and me had a wee visit to this place yesterday and loved it. Was very chilled, staff were lovely and the food was amazing! We had some Little Buddha Tea, some Genmai Cha Tea, the soup and the Middle Eastern Platter of Delights. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist trying the Vegan chocolate cake and the Vegan Carrot Cake! Highly recommend it all. Worth a visit just for the tea alone!
F. R.
The range of teas is stunning. We had something like The Gunpowder of Heaven! Cottage's feel like style, warm and mixture of everything inside, occasionally accompanied with a live music. In general, hipster and very creative shelter.
C. W.
The tea is so good and you get a lot of it! Lovely atmosphere and you can rent board games like Scrabble and Cluedo for £1. You can also get cakes and buy tea and tea making items from there. Would highly recommend!
I. T.
New favourite place, hidden from the traffic of the city. Tea is a bit overpriced but it is totally worth, never tried a tastier tea in my life (tried green teas, which I normally hate, and loved them, but my favourite is Apple Strudel). Food is amazing and very filling, the vegan carrot cake was something from another planet, best of my life! Super friendly staff and nice atmosphere, definitely will come back more often
A. S.
Had the most delicious veggie curry here once. It used to have a really nice view over the river before the ugly student halls were built. Lots of different teas to try and occasional entertainment evenings, open mic etc.
A.
Great selection of vegetarian food.
Even if the place is famous for its tea selection we fully recommend it for food too.
We ordered the red lentils, the falafel and the dolmades. All three absolutely amazing and very tasteful. The prices also very affordable.
The only drawback is the cat that strolls around, not really good for places serving food and in general the sitting areas were dusty.
Nevertheless we absolutely recommend it and we will return for sure.
R. M.
A cute little place with a quirky interior and an extensive selection of teas! I've been coming here for years and even supported the motion against the developers. It's a shame the back space was lost. However, every time I have visited recently I've been less impressed by the service. Small loop to close to make this a great place
J. J.
Small and adorable. A plentiful list of teas and vegetarian/vegan-friendly snacks make this such a special place. The zen room with its pillows and live music make it an amazing place to go.
H. M.
Had a lovely mini breakfast at Tchai Ovna. Really enjoyed the tea and lovely sourdough toast with fresh preserves followed by a scone and pan au chocolat. Delicious
A. M. C.
This place is a hidden gem in Glasgow's West End. The vibe is so relaxed here that it just makes you want to go back for more. Alternative deco, seating and arrangements with very good tea and a very mixed crowd. Love, love, love! :)
J. D.
Happened upon this place while vacationing; a real gem tucked away in a alleyway. Plenty of veg meal options and loads of tea. Cozy bohemian atmosphere with books, small tables and various seating options. Lovely place to enjoy food, drink and live music with friends.
N. K.
The place is small and cozy. If you want to put your down and relax then it might just be the right place for you. A whole lot of tea from different parts of the world (don't forget to read their descriptions) and some really nice and simple food to go with it. Give it a try and you won't regret.
V. T.
When I heard about this place, I expected more than I got. The staff is friendly and the tea and desserts great, but I didn't really like the fact that you have to go and order by yourself, you can only pay by card when it's over ten pounds and the whole place seems a bit chaotic. I can imagine going back to chill out, but it's not precisely a tourist place in my opinion.
R. M.
So many teas, and their own blends are especially flavorful and unlike any I've had in any other tea shop. Great quiet tea room down an unexpected yet artsy alley way
A.
A great exploration of worldwide tea options. If you're looking for a more traditional tea shop to go and chat over tea and crumpets then do be warned that this isn't it. You'd be better served with something like the Hidden Lane Tea Rooms. Tchai-Ovna is more the kind of place you want to be when you're wanting to just get into a better head space over a hot drink and a good book.
J. L.
Huge selection of tea, tasty veggie and vegan food along with an adorable cat! You couldn't ask for more in a chilled out cafe, you can roll up and chill out in between lectures for a few hours, read a book or even work. The atmosphere is relaxed and quite. Not great wi-fi or 4G connection though.
R. M.
A very cosy and homely place. Love the fact that I got to play with cats. The desi chai is phenomenal.
K. R.
My favorite tea place, super chill
K. A.
Cute little tea shop. Super obscure and hard to find, but when you do, it’s truly a hidden gem. There are over 80 types of tea so deciding on one is hard. If you’re not too much of a tea person try their fairy’s blood tea. They have a wide selection of vegan and vegetation options
B. S.
Look up bohemian and you'll find a map to this place. Best tea ever no doubt, but 45 mins for a couple of pots of tea to arrive seemed too long and the cats wandering about might put some people off. This place looks like your first student flat, assuming you're an impecunious person.
K. G.
The best tea room in Glasgow... Especially if you like the Asian atmosphere. They have great variety of tea and food. Unfortunately, the place is small and sometimes is difficult to find a table.
I.
One of best places for tea! Have been going to chai ovna for 8yrs and still one of my favourite places in Glasgow. The other great thing is the veg & vegan food, calming atmosphere and of course the various teas.
E. L.
Tchai-Ovna Tea House has a lovely atmosphere where you can go to study, discuss politics with friends, or just sip tea and have a slice of Vegan cake. The food is delicious, and the cats are overall friendly. My only complaint is that because there are no windows in the alley-way cafe, I find myself there most oftentimes at night.
R.
Super cozy place to enjoy a pot of their very very very many good teas and catch up with friends or just quietly read a book. I didn't try any but the food looked amazing too!
s. F.
Nice little tea room tucked away in the westend of Glasgow. You get to play chesse and drink tea what more could you ask for. They also have really nice food and is great for Vegas. This place really is a little gem.
C. S.
One of Glasgow's nicest gems in my opinion. So quaint. So relaxed. Fair prices, great tea, decent food (some of the food is a little steep). I love coming here.
P. S.
It's like a relaxed and casual oasis of spice and vegetarian/vegan in the middle of the city. They have a huge variation of teas from around the world with different levels and mixes of spice. There's several tasty food choises like the days soup, curry or a middle eastern platter of delights. My soup where minestrone and tasted amazing with the right balance of spiceness. Live music takes the stage during the evenings. Favorit tea at the moment: Yogi yogi chai.
A. X. P.
Little cozy tea place hidden in an alley not far away from the university. Really relaxed atmosphere and amazing selection of teas. The problem is to choose one among such a variety. Recommended :)
I. M.
Have always loved coming to Tchai-Ovna, really chill relaxed place. You come in, pet the kitty if it’s sprawled out on a chair, grab yourself a seat, select your tea or food from the extensive tea menu, and head to the kitchen door (by the bathroom) and place your order.
I have only had one issue, on a day they were short staffed, and the place was packed to the rafters! I was with my mum, who being diabetic was needing some food pretty soonish.... We placed our order, and waited, and waited... 20/30 minutes later she went to the kitchen to ask where her food was, to be told the last slice of cake she ordered had been given out to someone who ordered after us, but they were defrosting another one... They apologised profusely, explained they were short staffed and super busy, and different people had taken the order. These things happen, we’re all human, but a bit more organisation would have helped.... And saved my mum from getting even lower blood sugar.
Doesn’t put me off going back, as I’ve been back since, as I understand these things happen.
Point is, definitely check it out, but don’t expect food and drinks 2 seconds after you order
A. m.
One of the most hippy food places in Glasgow. The variety of food is not huge, but if you go there you will love it's chaotic atmosphere. Huge list of teas to choose.
R. R. M.
This is amazing all the different options of tea blowed my socks off a great place to eat everything food wise is vegetarian or vegan close to a train station high end shops are all so nearby you can all so order teas online. But it's not cheap.
M. S.
My favorite place to have my relaxing casual time with good variety of tea
D. F.
I have been going here for years and it's a lovely place with loads of interesting teas and a unique vegetarian menu. Staff always lovely and helpful. Can get busy but when it's not the vibe is chilled and lovely
C. M.
Possibly the cutest place in Glasgow. Staff are always friendly and the tea selection is amazing.
N. S. (. S.
I go here once a year to meet a friend. It never disappoints. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff helpful. The teas are wonderful... Matcha green as it really should be!
A. K.
Been going here for nearly a decade. Amazing tea selection, friendly staff, and an ambiance like walking into a friend's flat. Truly a gem of Glasgow.
C. L.
This is great wee place to come with a book, have a pot of random tea and relax. The staff are helpful when you need them and they will check in every so often too check you need a top up. It can also get quite lively and their are live events on too keep folk engaged in the place.
D. H.
Love tea try this hidden sanctuary for teas of the world. Fab food and atmosphere to relax and enjoy.
I hope to come back soon for the varied events. Not to forget Max who is an experience in himself...
E. S.
Very bohemian. Cosy & chic. Once u are here you are lost in your own dream sipping hot tea.
Their tea selection are awesome!
A place to pop by when you are in Glasgow!
M. C.
Cute and cosy place for a tea and boardgames. Went in on a rainy day and did not regret it. Warm chai and a game of scrabble made for a great afternoon. Would prefer to keep it secret, but it is worth going.
B. O.
Their choice of vegan food and the wide range of tea is brilliant. Would thoroughly recommend the middle eastern platter to share with friends as it was truly delicious
C. A.
Amazing tea selection and an interesting and relaxing space. I tried a very pleasant jasmin tea which came in a ptetty pot with a lovely drinking bowl. They were happy to refil the pot with hot water.
I was enjoying my time there so much I decided to try a very special white tea. This arrived in a small iron teapot with a flask of hot water to top it up with. Again theybwere happy to refil theflask with hit water.
I didn't eat but what I could see of the food from this who were it would be equally good.
Excellent place to come read a book, chat with friends or just generally chill over some excellent teas or vegetarian food.
D. O.
Tchai Ovna is a fantastic place to relax and read a book while drinking from a wide selection of teas, they also have a good choice of veggie and vegan foods. I would definitely recommend the veggie curry and Yogi Yogi Chai Tea ! It can be hard to find a seat at busy times but what else can you expect from a great place like this?
M.
Great place to chill and have a cuppa. Environment is nice and chill perfect for study or music. Has a piano and guitar for free play.
S. O.
Fantastic selection of teas and some tasty vegetarian food. Particularly recommend the yogi chai, apple strudel and faeries blood teas. Look out for the fun and eclectic selection of tea pots as well.
A. R.
Quaint, kitsch, pastiche, quirky, student hangout. Not your typical soulless barista enclave - haven for tea connaisseurs. Do not disturb the resident feline. Good for vegans, celiacs and lovers of board games.
A.
Soundest place in town. Theres a catalogue of teas, high quality teas from india, middle east, asia, china, so its a special place to chill. Plus, it always seems to work well for a date. And the vegie food is tastey and filling. Cheers guys.
Tchai-Ovna Forever
D. M.
Best place for all things tea. If ordering food be prepared to wait, but if you have the time to soak up the bohemian atmosphere, then worth it
Z. W.
Still the best section of tea in Glasgow. Bombay lemongrass Chai is the best
J. U.
Really healthy food and over 80 teas to try. Generous servings and free refills of tea. Really nice relaxing vibe and comfy seats. Also right next to an antique shop
G. E.
I particularly like the shaded.outdoor area they now have - ideal for the recent heatwave
O. B.
Great concept, slow service. They should stop providing hot (microwaved) food, slows down the whole show. Stick to tea and snacks and you're on to a winner. Very cute and cosy venue.
V. N.
It's cute little querky place.. the tea deletion was amazing but got me lost. Haha. And the food options are tasty too but basic.. if you enjoy your tea and want to enjoy the seltiin go here with your friends.
A. A.
Tucked away in a bylane is this gem of a tea house and eatery. The veg/vegan food is amazing and so is the Tchai. You are spoilt for choice. Just a piece of advice: if you plan on dining here, the food is prepared fresh and that takes time.
C. B.
Great atmosphere, pricey, no Wi-Fi, no coffee. The latter two are understandable as its all a part of the vibe but in many other EU cities a place that looks like it's run by a squatting collective would be affordable for the sort of people who live in a squatting collective. But this is Glasgow. I will tend to use Tchai Ovna when I have occasion to need to invite someone somewhere that will make them think I'm cool. (The clientele need to do this regularly.)
P. K.
A hidden gem. Very quirky tea room offering dozens and dozens of different teas from all over the world. A great place to have a nice pot of ginseng oolong tea and play chess with a friend.
S. M.
Best most cozy place in Glasgow. Great staff and great selection of tea. 10/10 would recommend to travelers, crafty people, tea enthusiasts
S. A.
Loads of tea selection hole menu cosy tucked away venue feels like aladins cave and had an amazing vegan chillies my fist vegan dish and it was so tasty loved it !!
I. M.
Relaxed atmosphere, great tea & good food. I've taken my kids and mum there for lunch before and all were happy, more of an adult/studenty place imo though mainly because its small & tables are often shared (generally a good thing) so I was aware the occasional racket the kids made would have been annoying for the folk reading or relaxing with their tea. Tchai-Ovna's presence at the doune the rabbit hole festival is a good thing too, a yogi chai always goes down well.
R. M.
Lovely wee place hidden down a lane but that doesnt stop it getting very busy at times. Get tea menu and some snacks available and for another £15 you and several friends can cosy around a shish and smoke many of the diffrent flavours.
L. C.
Loved it! Really nice place with tasty teas! And also good food, they've got vegan choices.
C. S.
Fantastic atmosphere to chill with a tea. An enormous selection of teas from around the world, and some very nice veggie/vegan food and baking.
I.
Absolutely lovely went here for an anniversary with my s.o. Great prices, if you want to get some peace and quiet this is the place! Also amazing tea
B. B.
Super chill atmosphere and great tea. Food's pretty good too, the baklava is banging. Also I love the cat.
J. D. K.
Decent tea selection for the té-aware. Could work on their Chinese tea brewing methods (see kung fu cha). However the decadence of decay, the eclectic patronage, and hippy staff make this place a must as a setting for excellent conversation and relaxing.
j. o.
Really great place! Excellent atmosphere and good music most nights!
Huge selection of interesting teas :)
C. T.
Tons of teas, very interesting and exotic one. They have very cool old fashioned tea pots, furniture. Had a great time there
S. B. J.
Drinks and cakes were good at some degree. The place is a bit tight.
F. G.
Tchai Ovna is the perfect place to enjoy tea. It's kind of like going inside the head of someone that really f***ING likes tea. The menu is extensive and the carrot cake is in fact a carrot cake.
S. C.
Authentic as it comes, right down to the stacks of books, instruments and of course teas. If you want to be in Prague without the flights then this is your spot.
Interesting music.
R. K.
Cosy atmosphere, vegetarian food but the real point is the enormous variety of tea available. I had a Tchai Hel, an Iranian tea which the Internet knows next to nothing about, at least by that spelling. Would have more. £8/head for lunch with tea.
S. C.
So cozy, the tea is amazing, you can exchange your clothes for other people's clothes, there's a cat, a reading corner, a Zen corner, board games, live music, nice vegan food, chocolate cake, basically heaven
A. D.
Great tea selection, but service is super slow, don't go if you're in a hurry. Its beautifully quirky, but could do with a good clean!
E. S.
Truly a highlight of any time in Glasgow, Tchai-Ovna is an Oasis away from the hustle bustle of the city while being right beside the heart of it. A gem of great conversation, drink and food. Highly recommend!
K. P.
What a really fantastic choice of tea you can choose from. Lovely cozy place to sit with friends or on your own reading a book.
L. M.
Comfortable hideaway from the world with a fantastic tea selection and tasty snacks.
H.
Very unique and quirky zen place, with a huge selection of teas. Loved that place, and a great little bookshop next-door.
C.
Great tea and atmosphere however I would suggest to change some of the seating for couches as it's not super comfy. Could get them on freecycle!
S. B.
This place has a wonderful selection of teas and food. Great atmosphere and friendly staff, a place that must be visited by all tea lovers
C. R.
The 'milk' oolong is delicious, the dahl really tasty, the atmosphere really relaxing and they have at least two cats. Loved this place.
A. A.
Cozy little vegetarian place with board games for hire. The platter we got was on point and the tea selection is quite extensive.
S. C.
Bohemian atmosphere with a traditional British feel. Tasty and varied tea's and one of the nicer vegan menus I've seen.

Romantic and secluded, inside and out. If you're looking for a great place for a date, or somewhere to relax with friends, Tchai-Ovna could be just your cup of tea!
J. S.
this place is special for any Glasgow uni student. altho sometimes you wonder if questionable substances are smoked within its vicinity. love the gun powder tea.
E. M.
A gorgeous, homely place with the longest tea menu I've ever seen. I'd highly recommend the yogi yogi Chai and the chilli!
C. Y.
I can chill out here for hours. Overpriced tea though. You're paying for the ambience and uniqueness. Share a pot rather than one each.
C. O.
Coffee was lovely but service was terrible. The staff member treated us like we were stupid and inferior to her. It's a shame as I've been going for years
J.
Great quiet wee place to enjoy some of the best tea in Glasgow. I also recommend their food, the Baklava was so good!

Tea and food were lovely, but the service was really slow. The manager forgot to put my food check through, and thus waited over 45 minutes for my meal.

(Translated) Huge selection of different types of tea on offer. The food side is narrower, but the £ 15 collection platter is good for two, with extra bread for up to three. As a dessert, we took the vegan carrot cake (raw cake), which was the best carrot cake I've ever had…
A bohemian cellar atmosphere has been sought in the space and it has been achieved; the different thing is then whether you like it or not…
(Original)
Valtava valikoima erilaisia tee-laatuja tarjolla.
